Swimmers and meteorologists have a new set of eyes monitoring Lake Michigan: meet "Chewy"
For the longest time, weather forecasters' only eyes on Lake Michigan were ship captains. Today, technology makes real-time monitoring possible. A program co-managed by the Univerisity of Illinois and Purdue University has applied data tracking technology to buoys floating in Lake Michigan, and the group just added a new one to the mix, nicknamed "Chuoy."
