Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship>> OUT OF ALL THE GUIDING PHILOSOPHIES A PERSON CAN LATCH ONTO, THERE'S ALWAYS BEEN ONE GENERAL SNIPPET OF WISDOM THAT'S APPEALED TO ME.
IF THERE'S SOMETHING YOU REALLY WANT TO EXPERIENCE, DON'T PUT IT OFF.
DON'T WAIT, BECAUSE TOMORROW IS NOT GUARANTEED.
THIS BASIC FRAMEWORK HAS PUSHED ME IN ALL TYPES OF ISSUE RATIONAL DIRECTIONS.
UNEXPECTED CAREER CHANGES.
EXHAUSTING TRAVEL ITINERARIES.
IT EVEN BRIEFLY LED ME TO SPEESE LUNKING, WHICH IS INCREDIBLE, BUT AS A HOBBY, IT JUST DIDN'T STICK.
IN SHORT, I'VE ALWAYS COUNSELED MYSELF TO DRINK DEEPLY FROM THE CUP OF LIFE BECAUSE LIFE TSELF IS A FINITE RESOURCE.
THAT SAID, I AM NOT GOING TO START PARA GLIDING ANY IME SOON.
YOU SEE, I DO WANT TO LEARN HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO PARA GLIDE.
WHEN I WAS YOUNG, I WOULD RUN OUT TO GET A BETTER VIEW OF THE LOCAL PARA GLIDER AND I REMEMBER THINKING EVEN THEN, NOW, THERE'S AN EXPERIENCE I WANT TO EXPERIENCE.
HOWEVER, AT THE SAME TIME, I HAVE THIS BORDERLINE CERTAINTY THAT WITH MY TYPE OF BRAIN, IN PARTICULAR MY TENDENCY TO GET A BIT EXUBERANT IN THE MOMENT, MY PERSONAL PARA GLIDER WILL END UP DECORATING THE LOCAL POWER LINES.
AND THAT'S THE IRONY OF MY PHILOSOPHY.
IF YOU DIVE HEAD FIRST INTO TOO MANY EXPERIENCES, IT CAN BE YOUR PHILOSOPHY THAT PULLS DOWN YOUR CURTAIN.
SO HERE'S WHERE I'VE LANDED.
I WILL SOMEDAY BE A PARA GLIDER.
I JUST HAVE A RATHER UNIQUE PREFLIGHT CHECK LIST.
ONE, ARE MY KIDS OUT OF THE HOUSE AND GAINFULLY EMPLOYED?
TWO, HAVE A COMPLETED MY NATIONAL PARKS MAGNET COLLECTION?
AND THREE, DO I POSSESS THE INNER PEACE POETS DESCRIBE AS HAVING DONE ALL I NEED TO DO?
WHEN THIS LIST IS COMPLETE, I WILL BECOME A PARA GLIDER.
AND IF, BY CHANCE, I'M DRIFTING OVER AN ALFALFA FIELD AND I SEE AN EAGER YOUNG PERSON LOOKING UP AT ME, I'M GOING TO DROP THEM A SPECIAL PREWRITTEN NOTE.
ENJOY LIFE, KID.
JUST NOT TOO QUICKLY.
