(bright music) - The Davis Arts Council brings summer to life with Utah's longest-running free outdoor concert series and the popular Free Friday Film series at the Kinley Amphitheater.
Here to tell us more is Heather Hendrix.
Welcome, Heather.
- Thank you.
Thanks for having me.
- How excited are you for this series of events that is about to kick off?
- I love the summer, especially at the Kinley Amphitheater.
It's such a gem in Layton.
It's right across from Layton High School, so in Layton Commons Park, and the Davis Arts Council puts a bunch of programming there, and today, I wanted to talk about the free ones.
- That's incredible, and I know a lot of people during this time are looking for affordable events that are good for kids and families.
- That's so true, the world is expensive enough right now, so yes, we have two things every week through the summer that we're offering.
- Tell me about some of the films and some of the entertainment people will be able to experience.
- So every Friday, the first one's actually May 29th, but every Friday, we'll have a free film, and it's at seven o'clock at the amphitheater.
Our favorite thing is that it's at seven o'clock.
We don't have to wait till it's dark, 'cause we show it on a bright LED screen, so it's perfect for little kids.
The movies are done by 9:30, so we'll have several throughout the summer.
On June 19th, we'll do "KPop Demon Hunters."
We had two, it's the year anniversary.
We're partnering with Netflix for it.
There'll be a costume contest and a lot of cute things that day, and it's the sing-along version.
- Yes, they'll be singing and dancing for sure.
- Yes, yes, I can't wait.
July 10th, we'll have "How To Train Your Dragon," and we'll have some free copies of the book to hand out as giveaways, and just a lot of fun movies that are perfect for kids, and well, really any age, but yeah, they'll be through the end of August.
- And I hear there's even another opportunity for people to dress up like "The Nightmare Before Christmas."
Is that... - Yes, please, please.
We're gonna come, we're gonna have trick or treating and a costume contest, and that one's in August, so yeah, we're having a little Christmas slash Halloween fun in the summer, too.
- And so many people have complained, why are Halloween costumes out in July?
Well, now you have a reason to break them out early.
- Exactly.
Thank you.
Exactly.
- Thank you so much for being here.
