And he said, "Let's call Norah."
Isn't that amazing?
So love that.
Just try, you gotta try, right?
She's lovely by the way.
Yeah, she sang on a few songs and played piano.
And, and tonight, Tess is going to sing with me instead.

Whoo!
Yeah, were some of you at the show in Raleigh?
- [Attendee] Yeah!
- Yeah!
All right.
We just did a big show in Raleigh, and I'm working on the album.
The album isn't out yet, but it'll be out next year.
And I'm really excited about it, and it's all reimagining folk songs from the past about women's rights.
And it's pretty cool.
They date back to the 1700s until the 1970s when the songbook came out.
And I'll sing you a song or two from that now if you'll have it.
Yeah?
Okay.
[audience applauding] Great, 'cause I didn't have a plan B.
[laughs] Ha-ha-ha, for those in the know.
[laughs] Okay.
[laughs] Da-dum ching.
Here we go, so this is a song that was written, well, somewhere around 1906, and it was first written down by Alan Lomax.
Are you familiar with Alan Lomax?
He was a historian and an archivist, and his father actually was also an archivist, and went around traveling and picking up songs from people.
And he heard this song from a gypsy woman outside of some sort of roper's convention or some such thing.
She sang it in 1906 and here we are today.
I'm singing it.
[laughs] Okay.
You guys ready?
Oh and this is dedicated to all the mill workers, all the women who worked in really horrible conditions in mills back in the day.
