DCFS Not Providing Language-Concordant Services

Illinois' Department of Children and Family lags in serving Spanish-speaking families.

In 2019, ProPublica Illinois reported that the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services’ was failing to serve Spanish-speaking families with Spanish-speaking caseworkers and place children in their care into homes where Spanish is spoken. This is despite a federal consent decree that has been in place since 1977 requiring the agency to do so.
