Hi.

I'm Lethisa Bailon.

And I'm Alyssa Workman.

We are here from Dos Rios Elementary, located in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Our school is in the Valley riding between the Colorado National Monument and the beautiful Grand Mesa.

We have an amazing view of the Colorado National Monument to the west behind our school.

Now to Derek and Amber with some of our school traditions.

Our whole school is trying to read an extra 1,000,000 minutes for this school year.

If we read for 1,000,000 minutes.

Mr.

Phillips, our school principal, will do something wacky.

The teachers and aides are trying to help us get to 1,000,000 minutes.

Now to you, Amber.

Here at the Dos Rios football field are all the fifth grade all star players.

Our first annual all star game came about because of the marvelous season.

& the great sportsmanship.

The ending score was 0 to 21 with the kids in the yellow winning.

Now back to the anchor desk with Lethisa.

Our next two stories tell you about some successful school and community partnerships.

Now to Brad & Tydra And we raised a whopping $11,000.

What did we do?

We sold delicious pies.

That's what the money will be used to build an outdoor classroom.

The space is going to be in the southwest corner of our field, and there's even going to be picnic tables inside and to you Tydra for another story.

This year we got this tree behind us donated by Book Cliff gardens.

We call it our wishing tree.

One student from each class read their class wish to a gathering of the whole school, plus the mayor and several members of the city council and the school superintendent.

Our plan this year is to make new wishes every year and hang them on the tree.
