It saves lives as we welcome you to Grisham Stadium for a Halloween night in Carrollton, Georgia and the region two 6-A Championship game as the seventh ranked Douglas County Tigers have come to town to take on the third ranked Carrollton Trojans.
And good evening, I'm Matt Stewart, joined by former Auburn Tigers All-American NFL first round draft pick in 15 year pro Wayne Gandy and Wayne.
This is a repeat of last year's region title game.
Carrollton won that 14928.
They've won ten in a row in the series.
In fact, the Tigers last win in the series, 1964, the year they won their one and only state championship game.
It was 7-6 that night.
Highly doubt will have a game like that tonight.
Yeah, two big time offenses out here tonight for the best receivers in the country.
On the field tonight.
Two big offensive lines and three quarterbacks that can get the job done here in this game.
Story with Carrollton.
They're nine and zero averaging 46 points per game in the year.
After juju the five star quarterback who's now at Colorado.
And they're winning with two quarterbacks and a freshman starter in C.J.
Cypher who has 11 offers already as a ninth grader, including Nebraska and Florida State.
This young man has put a season together for coach Joey King.
He's cerebral, he has a talented arm, 18 touchdowns, two interceptions, 72% completion rate.
He has a great receiving corps to get the ball to.
Good anticipation.
He's going to need all that tonight against this Douglas County secondary, who might be the best in the state.
And he'll share time with the senior Mason Hotlzclaw defense.
They lost seven starters off last year's state finals.
Team Jahmir Harris has been the biggest surprise on the defensive side of the ball.
And what a story this young man has broke out.
Senior season.
Undersized playing that linebacker position.
He's slippery.
He can make plays out on the edge.
He has seven sacks and they're going to need that to get after this.
Quarterback Mike Johnson tonight.
Story with Douglas County.
They're 7-2 They've had a good season not a great season.
They could change that with a win tonight.
Their two losses against the best teams in the state on the road.
Buford and Langston Hughes.
And they're led by their three star quarterback a real dual threat Michael Johnson who's committed to Utah.
Definitely a dual threat quarterback.
This young man is tough.
He's a leader.
His team counts on him to make plays down the field.
He has the arm to air it out here to Aaron Gregory down the field.
He's headed to Utah.
And the best thing about him, he doesn't make a lot of mistakes for this team.
He can get the ball out on the edge right there.
Great touch on the ball to Devin Carter.
And then the physicality.
The toughness in the run game has the legs to get the job done.
Averaging 202 yards of total offense per game.
Accounted for 14 touchdowns.
He's rated as high as the number 20 dual threat quarterback in the entire country.
On the defensive side of the ball, maybe one of the biggest stars in this game, the four star number 7 Edge in 2026.
Jordan Carter, who's committed to Texas A&M.
A dude grown man football.
As his coach mentioned to us, a freak athlete that can bring pressure off the edge.
He can play inside.
They have 26 sacks, Douglas County, and he has 13 of them.
Yeah.
And he played with a torn labrum last year.
He's tough.
Had surgery right after the season.
After the season he's fully healthy now and playing like it.
Third member of our team is John Nelson.
He's down on the sideline.
Good evening Matt.
Good evening.
Good evening to all of you.
However you are accessing this large device or small welcome to Decision Day.
When it comes to who's in, who's out, who's going to season three and who is going home, the path for these two coaches, it's going to be a little challenging.
Get this if you're the winner in this region to get out of your quadrant, upper left, you might have to take on Grayson just to get out and into the semifinals.
If you're the two seed of either Douglas County or Carrollton, you might have to face Buford or Mill Creek just to get in to the semifinals.
That's the path for one of these two.
One of 16 games tonight that decides a one and a two.
So you're asking yourself, as you're watching this one, and you might be watching our game on the web, which is going to decide another 1-2 in Marietta and North Paulding.
What do I do.
Well, you go to the QR code right there on the screen, and you get to find out all the scores that are happening tonight in and around the state of Georgia.
We'll let you know what all the scores mean as we go.
So, Matt, I think it's going to take a little bit more than just a candle here on decision day.
As we find out the ones and twos in season three, how about lighting a blowtorch from Grisham and getting us underway?
We'll do that.
Thank you.
Nelly, and you can go to the screen right here.
As we are just moments away from the opening kickoff, a new QR code for you to check out.
Who will win tonight's game.
Douglas or Carrollton scan it now and vote online as the Trojans take on the Tigers.
So Douglas County won the opening toss and they have elected to defer.
That means Wayne will see Carrollton on offense to start this game.
Of course, Halloween, Matt.
They got a lot of costumes out on the field.
This Carrollton team comes in with a lot of confidence, had a bye week.
They're 9-0 CJ Cypher Mason Hotlzclaw.
These quarterbacks are playing great in tandem.
This offensive line.
They have to establish the run up front with Cam Wood.
But this defense of Douglas County is up to the task.
They are defensive team.
That has been the constant for them this season.
They're going to have to do that tonight.
And look at that record for Joey King 60-6 In his five seasons here in Carrollton with two state finals overall, ten seasons, he's lost only ten games in ten seasons.
Wayne he won a couple of state titles at Carrollton and they are going for their 35th region title in program history tonight.
Yeah, this is a big game.
A lot of stars.
You could basically make a region all star game.
When you talk about the lineups here tonight.
Coach King a great quarterback coach, a great head coach and has another young CJ Cypher under his arm trying to lead the way to a victory.
And there's Johnny White in his decades since taking over at Douglas County, they've gone 78-36 It's the best decade in program history.
In 2023, they won their first ever region championship of his career and the eighth in the school's history.
And they've been playing football for 93 years.
So he has done a fabulous job in trying to get that region championship here tonight.
If you're wondering, in 2023, these two teams were not playing in the same region, and the opening kickoff is brought to you by Heads Up, Georgia.
Park your phone while you're driving.
It saves lives.
So ready to go as Emmanual Boreas-Perez has it teed up and kicks off deep to the Trojans, it's going to sail into the end zone.
So Carrollton is going to bring the ball out to the 20 yard line.
And Wayne, our chance to see the freshman quarterback to start this game.
It was a couple of years ago that we saw another freshman quarterback starting for the Carrollton Trojans and led them to the state finals in his ninth grade year.
Yeah, definitely looks like another quarterback here that is on his way to the next level.
CJ Cypher good with the football.
Looking at him out on the field.
Good size, strong arm.
They're going to count on him to get the ball out to these big time receivers that he has.
And cam Ward is the running back lined up next to him.
Of course one of the big unfortunate story lines of the Carrollton season, the loss of Kamari Farmer, who's in jail right now awaiting trial.
But cam Ward gets the opening handoff and he's going to lunge forward and pick up four yards on the play tackled by Jamar Owens the corner.
Nice job there by Owens playing down in the box.
The three star headed to Indiana.
The safeties and cornerbacks for Douglas County have no fear of getting down in that box and making plays.
As you can see right there by Owens.
Second snap ball goes out on the edge.
It's complete to Peyton Zachary, and Zachery going to be forced out of bounds by Aaron Gregory, who plays both ways.
The four star plays both ways for the Tigers.
Wayne, let's take a look at the impact.
Players are brought to you by Breda Pest Management with Braden.
No need to be afraid of bugs.
The three star Mason Hotlzclaw big time player, dangerous in the run game.
Cam Ward, the leading rusher.
I think about cam when you think about cam Ward.
Cam Wood excuse me.
Richard Dyce on the other side, the leading tackler for this Douglas County team and Semaj Flueylln who just signed with Samford, a big difference maker in the middle.
That's a first down catch by Ryan Mosley, the four star who's committed to the University of Georgia.
That'll be a first down for the Trojans at the 31.
Cypher to the air again.
Throws Mosley catches it on the outside on the inside shoulder as he's going outside.
And he makes the catch and out of bounds at the 38.
Making it look easy right there.
As Ryan Mosley Ball is behind him.
A one hand catch, really little behind him.
Great job of adjusting his body, corralling that ball and bringing it in, keeping his feet inbounds.
Brings up second down ball.
Sitting at the 38.
Hand off.
Goes to Ward again or Wood.
Pardon me.
Cam Wood.
And he's going to have the first down at the 43 yard line.
Cam Wood has really been next man up mentality for Carrollton this season.
Has rushed for 758 yards.
He has five offers including UT Martin and Furman.
Yeah 20 touchdowns averaging 7.5 a carry.
Young man good out of the backfield.
Catching the ball.
Always falling forward is cam.
Cam Wood.
You can tell he's been in the weight room to first and ten Cypher on the rollout.
Now plants and throws deep.
Got a man out there and it's going to be caught inside the 15 yard line.
And down inside the five is Peyton Zachary.
And he's going to get a flag for spiking the ball.
As we mentioned in the open for the best receivers in the country this time Peyton Zachery just outrunning Aaron Gregory and Jamar Owens Owens right there.
Just can't do that right there.
As he gets up.
Right at the end, spiking the ball.
Looks like are they going to pick up the flag on this play?
No, I don't think so.
I like on the offense.
So instead instead of having it first and goal to go at the three yard line, they're going to back him up 15 yards for the unsportsmanlike penalty.
Looks like they're having a little communication problem.
They are putting the ball at the three.
But you can see white hat going in to tell them the mark off.
But he slammed the ball when he got up.
He's going to have to wait until Saturday to do a play like this.
So that's going to push it all the way out to the 18 yard line.
So first and ten from the 18.
We'll see if Carrollton can recover from that penalty.
Explosiveness on both sides of the ball.
Both teams have quality receivers that can make big plays.
So first and ten from the 18 yard line Cypher off to a good start here tonight.
He's four for 460 8 yards on this opening drive.
Going to shovel the ball forward to Zachery.
Or actually yeah Zachery going to be run out of bounds at the five.
And he nearly got it all back.
And another flag comes out.
This is that versatility that Zachery has right there.
Looks like they're going to get an unsportsmanlike penalty at the end here a little pitch forward.
Get him out on the edge.
Elusive make a man miss right there.
Great job by the young man.
Then just a little shove there by Jordan Carter for star and missed everything for this defense.
Little frustration right there and pushing after the play was over.
After the play personal foul on the defense.
Half the distance remains first down.
So now it will be first and goal to go for the Trojans as they put the ball down at the 2.5.
Correct.
I'm with Coach Sanders.
A lot of emotion in this game.
Already on display.
Hand off goes to Wood and Wood spins inside.
Touchdown Carrollton.
What great individual effort here by Cam Wood spinning off the tackle, keeping the legs going here.
Little read zone.
Getting off the tackle there.
Taking the hit by Fabian and falling into the end zone once again here.
Good blocking up front.
But the individual effort to get into the end zone take the hits there by Wood.
22nd total touchdown for Wood this season and a 6-0 lead for Carrollton.
All set up with the big pass down the field there.
CJ Cypher Zachery they're going for it here on for two.
Illegal shifts.
So the play got blown dead.
Although the play is going to count.
So they will not redo.
So the play gets erased by the penalty.
And a 6-0 lead for Carrollton on the touchdown run by Cam Wood.
Football Fridays in Georgia is presented by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, reminding you to park your phone while driving.
Saves lives.
Heads up Georgia.
You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh hey what's up man?
You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.
Jacket and you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.
So why would you drive a car while distracted?
Driving isn't a game when you lose on the road, it could lead to a crash.
So when you get behind the wheel, put the distractions aside, drive hands free, and save lives.
Heads up Georgia.

Coach, thanks for being a great partner to GPB all week long and for Football Fridays all year long.
Thank you so much.
Thank you to Cigna and GPB.
We're so excited to have you here for Friday night in Carrollton, Georgia.
Go, Trojans.
What she said $1,500 for our friends.
To our friends at Carrollton, from our friends from Cigna.
Matt.
The rest of the first is yours.
All right.
Thank you Nelly.
Impressive opening drive by the Trojans as they go 80 yards for the score.
Cam Wood taking it in from 3 yards out.
Good drive there.
Throwing the ball by Cypher getting the ball out on the edge getting it out quick offensive line really no pressure on that drive coming up with the big play down the field of Zachery and then just finishing it with Wood.
This Douglas County team, you feel going to have to keep pace, can't get too far behind.
Carrollton both offenses are hot right now, averaging over 40 points.
Julian Vargas with the opening kick, it's going to sail into the end zone.
And so Douglas County, their first possession will start at the 20 yard line.
And this was kind of the worst nightmare for Johnny White in their two losses to Buford and Langston Hughes.
They fell behind and fell behind.
Big in both of those games and had to battle back to make it close at the end.
But he told us this week, we can't start slow again.
One of the emphasis, especially on offense, is to have a fast start.
They got to get down the field, get into a groove and can't dig that hole where they're always fighting to get even right here.
This offense has to come out, establish the line.
A big offensive line up front, get the run game going so they can work down the field with these big time receivers.
You see the numbers on Michael Johnson over 1,500 yards passing and the play gets blown dead.
We saw them eight weeks.
Ago.
On the offense.
Five-Yard penalty remains first down.
And they're 34 26 loss at Buford that night.
They were their own worst enemy.
And right here starting the game with a false start.
It's a nice crowd out here.
But you've got to be focused to get this job done against one of the best teams in the state.
Michael Consensus, three star quarterback.
Hand off goes to Zamarcus Lindley and he gets the 5 yards back to the 20 yard line.
Nice move right there.
The three star Lindley in the hole 510200 pound.
Very patient strong runner right there.
Getting out of that tackle.
He has 18 offers including Memphis Boston College and Kennesaw State.
Second down and ten.
Johnson to the air out on the far side goes to Kelly.
Rah’Keith Kelly still battling for yards, ends up picking up five.
Up to the 25.
Wayne, let's take a look at your Breda Pest Management impact players.
When Douglas County has the ball.
Rah’Keith Kelly versatile slot running back dynamic out in open field.
Sam-Epelle massive left tackle at 69, 340 Kadan Spratling three star headed to Memphis a spot splash play linebacker and Dorian Barney the four star headed to Ole Miss and all business shut down corner.
And Brady is the official pest control of Georgia High school football.
It's third down and five Johnson in a heavy rush eludes it for the moment.
Throws and coming back to make the catch incomplete.
Jeremiah Mathis.
They're highly prized.
Freshman.
Thought he'd made the catch along the sideline but did not.
It's going to be fourth down.
This is all about Zykie Helton flipping over on to the defense when he flips from offense to defense.
He is their best player right there.
Very close.
Not sure why they didn't.
Both referees right there waving it off, but from our view looked like a catch.
But big time pressure there by Helton off the edge.
He's headed to Georgia as an offensive lineman.
Most likely a center, but plays great on defense, bringing the pressure they're.
Emmanual Boreas-Perez on the punt.
He stands at his 11 and the dangerous Peyton Zachary is deep for Carrollton nearly blocked.
Might have got a piece of it.
Ball helicoptered out of there and spins out of bounds at the 45 yard line.
So Carrollton is going to have great field position for their second possession.
You make the call.
Does he make the catch or not?
And maybe yeah, I think he did hit the ground on my second look at it.
I think he did trap it.
Great effort there by the freshman Jeremiah Mathis.
But this Carrollton team setting up on their second drive on their side of the field, dangerous time already in this game here for Douglas County.
And Mason Hotlzclaw.
The senior is now in here at quarterback.
They told us he would play the second series.
And then they figured out who has the hot hand after that.
Hand off goes to Wood down to the 39 yard line.
Tonight's starters are presented by Johnny's New York style pizza.
Your original neighborhood pizzeria.
And here's a look at Carrollton on that offensive line with Helton Wells, Sheffield, Ball and Fielder.
So, second down and four.
Hotlzclaw goes to the air, fires a dart that's incomplete.
Trying to squeeze it in a tight spot to Mosley at the 32 yard line.
Let's take a look at the starting lineup again.
And there are those offensive line starters anchored by Zykie Helton and Fielder, who's a fabulous sophomore.
That right tackle position.
The running back is Wood.
The receivers are Mosley, Zachery and Welch, and Miller is the tight end.
Third down and four.
Empty backfield.
Hotlzclaw dangerous running the ball.
Ball goes to Wood out on the edge.
He's got the first down.
Or maybe not.
I think they spot him short.
Looks like he's going to be a yard short right there.
Really love how Wood catches the ball, runs the ball, gets upfield.
Instinctive.
And you imagine Coach King is going to keep you can see running that heavy package out there.
Big bodies coming to work here.
They got a lot of big bodies out here for this fourth and one.
Hotlzclaw comes up under center, tries to pull him offsides.
Unsuccessful.
Plenty of time to keep this play on.
Hotlzclaw dangerous running the ball here.
And he is going to run it first down.
Dives down to the 29.
Great execution right there by the offense to be able to hold that long and still have an effective play.
A lot of big bodies there.
Hotlzclaw 63, 195.
You can see lowering those shoulders, driving those legs.
Nice pickup there.
Great execution by the offense.
He's a three star in the 2026 class 19 offers including South Alabama, East Carolina and Charlotte.
First and ten from the 29.
That's Miller the tight end in motion.
Hotlzclaw going to run it again behind Miller and has a first down.
Good blocking down the field by his receivers.
Ryan Mosley holding that block for a while.
Miller the tight end out on the edge.
Good blocking up front securing this corner.
Nice pull there by Bo Ball the Sanford commit.
And that's the thing of switching up quarterbacks.
The defense has to recognize that a different style is in there.
We talked to Coach White.
He hasn't faced a lot of teams that run a two quarterback system.
First and ten Hotlzclaw to the air, and it's complete at the 16 yard line to Wood.
As we take a look at the starters delivered by Johnny's New York style pizza for Douglas County on defense with Fabian, Brandon, Flueylln and Carter up front in the linebacking corps, Jones, Dyce and Cole is the nickel, and in the secondary Burden, Gregory, Green and Owens.
That secondary is really good.
Second down though, Wood gets the hand off again right up the middle.
Wood inside the ten.
And this Carrollton offensive line having their way right now.
Mateo Wells Zykie Helton on that left side.
Nice pull, little counteraction there by Ball and Fielder big hole.
The run through.
Nice job on that counterplay to the left.
Love the ability of cam Wood the way he runs square legs, driving forward.
This offensive line is controlling this game right now for Carrollton.
And he's got sprinter's speed too.
He runs a ten, seven, 100 meters.
So first and goal to go again for Carrollton as they're trying to go up by two touchdowns here in the first quarter.
Wood gets it and Flueylln drags him down for the TfL at the nine.
Big pressure there in the backfield making the play.
This is how you have to stop the run.
Penetration.
Good job there.
By Flueylln 62, 280.
Senior really has put in an outstanding work for this defense up front.
And as you mentioned he is committed to the Samford Bulldogs.
Picked the Bulldogs over seven total offers.
Transfer from Peachtree Ridge.
It's second down and goal.
Zachery in motion.
Play.
Action.
Hotlzclaw backpedaling.
Had the ball knocked up into the air.
And that was the man.
They call him the breeze.
Jordan Carter.
Great job off the edge.
The big fella playing out on the edge.
Strong physical and the agility here.
Reading his keys head on, eyes on the quarterback.
Good anticipation on that.
Jump right there.
The bat, the ball down.
Consensus four star picked Texas A&M over 49 total offers.
He is a player.
He is a guy that those are the kind of plays he's counted on to make.
When you have 49 total offers, when you can't even name them.
All, no, you don't.
You maybe know ten.
Of them.
It's a couple you don't even realize.
Offered you when it's that many.
Third down and.
Goal.
Play action again.
Hotlzclaw looks to the end zone and caught for the touchdown.
Peyton Zachary in the side of the end zone and a big 12-0 lead for Carrollton.
Matt.
What a beautiful route here by Peyton Zachery working to the outside.
Play action fake.
Plenty of time.
Great fast ball.
Beautiful throw to match the beautiful route there.
Peyton Zachery working out of that slot.
Coach referenced him to be a Deebo Samuel.
He's showing you everything here in this first quarter.
Yeah, he is a three star consensus three star committed to UNLV to play in Vegas.
Picked the running Rebs over 29 other offers, including Georgia and Louisville.
Vargas on for the p.a.t.
After they went for two their first time and the kick is going to be good and a 13 to nothing lead for Carrollton, Johnny White said.
They could not start slow.
They have started slow.
They'll be back on offense when we get down.
When we get back already down.
Two scores.

Breda Pest Management works to protect your home from termites with a liquid barrier.
Breda.
They handle bugs and critters.
Tonight's game is brought to you by Breda Pest Management with Breda.
No need to be afraid of bugs.
Berry solid ten play, 45 yard drive for Carrollton DBHDD and the new red ribbon 365.
Curriculum.
Peyton Zachary.
Capping it with his eight yard touchdown reception.
What a dynamic young receiver.
Really just the measurables.
He could be the most explosive receiver in the state, as he's already shown you the ability to get deep with the speed.
Great routes, good hands.
Had him in the jet sweep action right there with a little shovel pass.
Now this Douglas County team has to respond.
As the coach talked about, have to have a start fast.
They have to start fast and stay ahead of the sticks.
Can't have penalties.
Negative plays.
You saw Zachary's numbers.
He already has 76 yards receiving here in the opening quarter.
As Vargas sends it into the end zone.
And so Douglas County is going to start at their 20 again.
So let's take a look at the starters delivered by Johnny's New York style pizza.
Your original neighborhood pizzeria for Douglas County on offense, Sam-Epelle, whose massive Georgia really going after him really hard.
He's a 69, 340 left tackle.
Jordan Madu, Dumas and Alford, who's committed to Memphis up front.
And then the running back is Lindley.
We already talked about him with his 18 offers and the wide receivers among the best in the state.
Gregory, Carter Kelly and Mathis Mathis is the freshman.
Kelly has been one of the most dynamic players for them on the offensive side of the ball this season.
Lindley trying to break it out to the outside and slips on a cutback, picks up five on the play.
Nice job.
Vision right here by Lindley pressing the hole and then bouncing with the jump cut to get to the outside.
Using his speed right there.
Just slipped that to end this young man.
The three star, a patient runner with a lot of power.
Ten touchdowns already on the season.
He's rushed for 689 yards on the season coming in Johnson going to wing it out here.
Complete to Devin Carter and Devin Carter still on his feet up across the 40.
Dangerous man Devin Carter missed a lot of the season with an injury.
But he's back and he's counting on to make plays.
Balance the field for Aaron Gregory.
Just a little swing route to get him out in space right there.
Good job keeping his feet.
Fighting for yards.
This is just the sixth game that he's played in this season.
Because of that injury he suffered in the preseason.
Handoff goes to Lindley straight up the middle and Lindley crashes out to the 49 yard line.
CJ Gamble, the Georgia Tech commit making the tackle.
Nice hold there on that left side.
Reading the blocks physicality.
Finishing the run, taking the hit there by CJ Gamble.
Second down.
Lindley gets it again and Lindley has got the first down at the 47 yard line as Harris makes the tackle.
And here's the starters delivered by Johnny's New York style pizza for Carrollton on defense.
Ackey Carter.
They call him meatball McLendon up front Spratling Gamble Harris and Mcmillan on that second line, Mcmillan is the star.
And then in the secondary Boyd Simmons Hagan and Barney Barney the highest rated player on this Carrollton team.
With the hard count right there always.
On the defense.
Five yard penalty.
Still first down.
It's always been amazing, Matt that the nose tackle is actually lined up over the ball.
Can jump offsides when he's looking right at the ball.
The ball is right in front of him.
With the instructions.
Don't move until the ball.
Moves.
So first and five Johnson goes to the air and dumps it off, complete to Johnson Marquis Johnson with the catch and run down to the 29 yard line.
That's just his fifth catch of the season.
Big target 61, 215.
Senior here.
And this is just off of play action.
Little swing pass out in the flat to Johnson.
Good job getting the ball and getting up.
And you see a different energy.
Something tells me Coach White delivered a message over there on the sideline to his offense.
They're getting in and out of the huddle getting the plays out, and guys are playing with a different bounce on this drive.
First and ten.
Lindley gets it again.
Nice hole for Lindley as he goes right up the middle and down to the 20 yard line.
So Marcus Lindley running hard.
Running between the tackles downhill right there.
Good kickout block by Johnson.
Offensive line.
Good job inside there by Julius Dumas.
The the the right guard.
This is a big offensive line.
When you look across the board.
Lindley going to keep it on the zone read and get knocked out of bounds by Spratling.
You'll remember Kaiden Spratling.
He was that wild man, probably the player of the game for them when they beat Buford in the semifinals.
Last year.
Just making all kinds of plays across the field.
Good penetration up front.
There by Mateo Wells, who's flipped over from the O-line to bring a little size to the deep front.
But Kaiden Spratling, the three star headed to Memphis.
What a player he is, can play in the box and his great running things down on the edge.
Third down and three.
Lindley gets it again.
First down Lindley to the 16 yard line.
He goes.
You get that statement.
Drive kind of feel here by this offense.
This Tigers offense not a lot of finesse.
It's right down using this big offensive line and running right at this Carrollton's defense.
They're averaging about 70 yards rushing less per game than they did a year ago.
When they got to the state semifinals right up the middle.
Rah’Keith Kelly getting the carry.
They are really eating it up on that inside.
Nothing fancy running between the guards in the center right there.
Good vision.
Big hole right there.
Rah’Keith Kelly always dangerous with the ball in his hand.
His ability to make people miss.
What a real football player this young man is.
He has nine offers, including Maryland.
It's second down and short.
Kelly gets it again and Kelly going to get thrown forward and get the first down.
The tackle forward actually gave him the first down.
Actually got help there by Spratling as he went to bring him down and threw him past the sticks.
And Kelly is going to the sideline.
He got hurt.
Let's see at the end of this you see Spratling getting off the block and then just slam right there on his head.
Really slammed him on the turf to his head.
Luckily he held on to the ball.
But you can see him on the sideline.
That would be a big loss to this Douglas County he's a guy that kind of does everything.
Swiss Army Knife plays in the slot out of the backfield.
Looks like he's up and trying to walk it off.
Maybe it's his shoulder there.
Matt.
I see him kind of laboring, holding his arm got slammed hard there by Kaiden Spratling.
Here's a look at the top five prospects on the Douglas County roster.
These are rated and ranked by the on three industry rankings.
Joshua Sam-Epelle is the highest rated player on the team with 31 offers, four star offensive tackle rated as high as the number 5 offensive tackle in 2027.
Aaron Gregory the four star going to A&M.
Devin Carter four star going to Florida State Jordan Carter as we mentioned, four star going to A&M and then Kennedy Green.
The safety has 34 offers.
He's class of 2027.
So first and goal to go.
As they direct snap the ball.
Mathis Jeremiah Jeremiah Mathis the freshman wide receiver who was Wildcat in the offense.
There.
Wow.
This offensive line doing this drive is controlling the line of scrimmage here.
Going with the Wildcat.
Looks like they're going to keep it going running right in the teeth of this defense.
Second down and goal.
Mathis takes the direct snap again and will not get there.
Zykie Helton was there to blow up that play.
Can't imagine the coach White is not going to go for it.
Oh, it's third down right here.
Well, I think that was the key.
Was it Zakai?
Yeah, there's 52.
That's the guy.
Helton.
Helton and Harris on the play right there.
They didn't get a. Penalty on the slam on.
Third down and goal.
We're inside the final minute of the first quarter.
Looks like a time-out's been called.
So Johnny White is apparently still agitated that the fact they did not call a penalty when Rah’Keith Kelly got hurt on that previous play.
And you can see him going back there to check out his Rah’Keith Kelly a guy that he really raves about being the most unselfish player he's ever coached in his career.
They're not just heroes, they're the Avengers saving the world.
One smart choice at a time.
Watch the new digital series now at gpb.org slash Avengers.
So, 41 seconds left here in the first quarter, and third down and goal coming up for the Tigers from the two yard line.
Really need a touchdown right here.
And you have to believe they're in four down territory right here.
The way they've been able to run this ball.
There's no doubt.
And Coach White's mind what a statement.
What a Bounce-back drive here to try to get back into this game.
You can see the intensity in his face right there upset about his player being slung down into the tent.
Is Rah’Keith Kelly.
Michael Johnson back in there at quarterback.
He's going to take the direct snap and run it straight ahead.
And the play got blown dead.
So we're going to have an offside here for Carrollton.
For the snap prior snap encroachment defense.
Half the distance to the goal.
Still third down.
So that'll make it third and goal from the one.
And the way Mike Johnson can run this ball.
He really never have to go to Wildcat.
He's a he's a physical runner 61, 190.
Play gets blown dead again.
You know that's the thing that Coach White told us Wayne is they knew he was a great athlete when he transferred in from Dutchtown.
But what Coach White says he didn't know about Johnson was how tough he was and how much of a leader he was.
Snap encroachment on the defense half the distance to go remains third down.
, and some of that toughness is part of the leadership.
When you have a guy, especially your quarterback, that's willing to lay it on the line, that does pave the way.
That is the leadership that a lot of guys that gets guys attention to play harder.
So third down and goal from the half yard line.
Now Johnson again gets into the end zone for the touchdown.
Michael Johnson takes it in from 1 yard out for his fifth rushing touchdown of the season.
And it's 13-6 No change in the play here.
Just running right downhill offensive line doing a good job.
Get your feet in the end zone.
That's what you're taught when you're on that 1 yard line.
As an offensive lineman you want to find yourself driving and falling into the end zone.
Successful play there for Michael Johnson to get on the board for Douglas County.
Great answer right there.
By Douglas County on the 80 yard drive now Boreas-Perez on for the p.a.t.
And he sticks it up and in and it's 13-7 with 30-3 seconds left in the quarter.
But that was an 80 yard drive.
13 plays.
And they used up 5 minutes.
A massive mental drive right there.
That is the head coach, coach White taking control of this team.
And we're just going to go behind our biggest asset in this offensive line.
And we're going to run this ball right at them.
That's get your team's attention and let them know where they are and how big of a game they're in, and they're going to have to keep pace with this.
Carrollton offense.
But what an impressive answer there by Douglas County.
DBHDD in the new red ribbon 3365 curriculum.
Spelling it out for you.
Douglas County gets back in the game with that long touchdown drive.
So far we've not had a returnable kick and Rontre Welch standing deep for Carrollton is very dangerous.
He's returned three kicks for touchdowns already this season, but he's not going to be given the opportunity.
The two great kickers in this game that, are definitely in Vargas and Boreas-Perez.
I don't think we're going to really see unless it's a mistake.
Either one of these kickers give them a chance to return the ball.
So Carrollton going back out there on offense and CJ will take the third series.
He directed them on an 80 yard touchdown drive, his first series five for five passing for 81 yards.
So far tonight.
Tells you a lot about both of those players.
Character Cypher and Hotlzclaw to be able to go down and take your team on a score and then be replaced.
Wood with a nice run and a shoestring tackle coming from the corner.
Jamar Owens good job.
Offensive line once again.
Big hole.
Hard to find.
Cam Wood 58, 190.
Big and strong, but hard to find for those linebackers behind that big line.
Second down Cypher running a screen out here to Zachery with blockers and Peyton Zachary.
He's got the first down.
Gets driven out of bounds at the 36.
That was the final play of the first quarter.
And 12 minutes are history here at Grisham Stadium.
Off to a great start here tonight on Halloween.
Lots of treats no tricks so far 137 Carrollton on top.
I've been checking food labels for years.
I like to buy local and I like to buy healthy for my family.
So I started checking the labels on our clothes too.
Did you know synthetic fibers like polyester are pretty much made of oil?
No thanks.
I look for cotton now, which grows right here in Georgia.
A major source of the world's cotton.
Cotton is natural, renewable, sustainable and buying cotton supports Georgia farmers.
Good enough for me and my family.

As we head to the second quarter here in the region, two 6-A Championship game, a look at Carrollton top prospects Dorian Barney the four star committed to Ole Miss.
Ryan Mosley four star committed to Georgia Zykie Helton four star committed to Georgia Kweli Fielder the four star sophomore with 20-1 offers.
He is rated as high as the number 3 offensive tackle in the class of 2028 and CJ Gamble, the three star linebacker who is committed to Georgia Tech.
Four star Bowl out here, there's a lot of four stars, a lot of talent, a lot of big names and all of them right now are living up to billing.
Carrollton has 16 players with college offers and Douglas County has 28.
Cypher is going to ground it rather than take the sack.
And good job there by the young freshman trying to get that ball in there to Peyton Zachary on the slant underneath shallow cross.
As you can see right here, Zachery comes late, couldn't get it off and just threw it at his feet.
Heads up play there by the young freshman CJ Cypher.
First incompletion for Cypher.
Averaging 164 yards passing per game.
He's already picked up his 19th passing.
Actually, he's.
Not in the area.
No foul for intentional grounding.
I was going to say he picked up a touchdown pass, but Hotlzclaw did that.
So he's got 18 touchdown passes.
Just two interceptions this season.
Just uncanny savvy for a ninth grader.
Picking up where young man that's at Colorado left off.
And coach King.
He can speak to these young players and get them to perform at a high level.
He's the quarterback whisperer.
Back to pass and out of bounds.
When you think about the quarterbacks that Joey King has coached, of course Trevor Lawrence now with the Jacksonville Jaguars, saw one of them last night in college football.
Carlos Del Rio Wilson, who's the starting quarterback at Marshall, finished up his career playing for Joey King at Cartersville.
Now, of course, Juju Lewis, who's at Colorado.
Who's always just a play away from getting on the field.
The way they're playing out there at Colorado, juju is in a great position to see some time here soon.
And now third and long this Douglas County defense has to get off the field in these situations.
Ball goes to Wood.
Cammon Wood had a blocker and he's going to get stopped at the 40.
Doesn't get the first.
Good job keeping everything in front of you right there.
That's one of the keys to this defense.
Trying to keep things in front of them and make the play a and assignment.
Fourth down.
They're going to go for it.
And they get a gift as Fabian jumped offsides.
And that's going to get him close to the first down.
John's got time out White before the flag.
How about that.
Smart play by Johnny White and his staff to recognize that Carrollton was trying to hurry this up.
Douglas County for the encroachment.
So fourth down in the time-out called by Douglas County.
Look at the Tigers.
Season summary.
Come in at 7-2 3-0 in the region.
That's why they're playing for the title tonight.
Ranked number 7 in the GPB 6-A top ten in the Georgia High School Association PSR, which of course will be very important next year.
They would be the number 9 seed in the playoffs.
They are 31-6 since the 2023 season, when these seniors were sophomores, they're 1-2 against top ten opponents.
The two losses, though, were to Buford and Langston Hughes.
Their one win against North Gwinnett, the team we saw last Friday night.
And of course, their next game will be the first round of the state playoffs.
And coach talked about having a home playoff game next week, regardless of the outcome of tonight.
So feel confident that his team is still in great position, but really wants a chance of winning this region.
Tough task here.
Taking on this Carrollton team.
You just can't have those miscues right there.
By Solomon Fabian bailed him out by the coaches, calling a time-out.
So fourth and five.
And so now the Trojans will punt.
Vargas standing at his 27 to kick.
Going to angle it away from the return man he gets a nice Trojan bounce inside the 25.
And that's where the ball is downed.
And that's where the Tigers are going to go on offense here in the second quarter.
Let's see if this Tiger offensive line Marcus Lindley, Mike Johnson, Mosley Rah’Keith Kelly is okay and able to come back into this game.
But regardless, in that last drive, it was a statement drive of physicality and offensive line taking up, taking over up front.
Michael Johnson three or four passing for 36 yards so far tonight.
And Zamarcus Lindley six carries for 28 yards.
None of the wide receivers have more than one catch.
And the.
Carry by Lindley up to the 28 yard line.
He gets three on the play.
And that was Demetrius Carter.
I think coming off the pile there, making the tackle number 50.
Back up his offensive line.
Big Dumas 320 Alford 310 Sam-Epelle 340 starting to weigh in on this defensive front.
That's kind of small inside with Carter and Ackey.
Johnson steps up and goes long and there's contact and the ball is broken up at the 36 yard line.
There is a flag down on the field.
Aaron Gregory was the target.
A flag dropped at the 46, and I think he ran out of his shoe.
Now he's got his shoes back on.
Something came off a. Pass interference defense 15 yards from previous spot.
Results in a first down.
It looks like his hand warmer came off.
Something fell.
Off onto the field.
You can see Aaron Gregory tied up right there down the field.
Just a jump ball there.
Jay Hagan trying to go up and knock the ball down, but I think they got Dorian Barney before that action right there.
A little pull of the jersey.
So that's going to be a first down for Douglas County at their own 43.
Lindley stutter step hits the line and gets driven back.
No running room.
Bunch of Trojans right there.
And the Douglas County side gets a little agitated as.
Got a late flag in here.
Just finishing the play.
Mason McClendon.
The question I would have, and that's probably what Joey King has, is had the whistle blown.
And didn't sound like it sounded like it was a late whistle.
By the time the play was blown dead.
Obviously his forward progress had stopped, but you don't stop playing until the whistle.
After the play.
Personal foul defense 15 yard penalty from the end of the run results in a first down.
And this is a function of the Rah’Keith Kelly play where he got slammed down by Spratling earlier, but here really didn't hear a whistle to allow the defensive front to stop.
Right there you can see just driving him back.
A little shove where everybody kind of fell down there at the end of the play.
So first and ten for Douglas County.
They're now on the plus side.
They're on the 40 Johnson to the outside it goes to Aaron Gregory and Gregory down to the 34.
And a nice pickup.
We talked about a lot of names, but one of the most dangerous people in the state of Georgia, Aaron Gregory, big time receiver, headed to Texas A&M, a four star, 64, 185.
A great two way player.
I mean, you look at the numbers he's put up this year, those are like NFL numbers, 49 catches, 813 yards.
A total package.
Great hands speed size out on the edge.
Those kind of plays.
They'll stop routes getting the ball out in space.
Second down play gets blown dead.
So we got another encroachment.
Try the snap.
Encroachment on the defense.
Five yard penalty from the previous spot.
Results in first down.
I think that's the third encroachment penalty we've had called on Carrollton.
Right there.
It looks like maybe lined up offside on that play right there inside.
Got to find that ball when you're out on the edge helmet a little bit over the ball by Zykie Helton.
I believe this is the third first down they've picked up on this drive because a penalty is first and ten.
Zone Reid Johnson keeps it and he gets dropped for a 1 yard loss at the 30 yard line.
Jahmir Harris a good read there by Harris right there.
Good penetration by the defensive front.
Just no room right there for either Lindley or Johnson.
Just keeping his eye on the ball.
As we talked about with Harris.
Just a big surprise.
A program kid who's had a great senior season.
Came in with 12.
TfL just picked up another right there.
Second down Johnson out of the pocket now flushed out of the pocket being chased and throwing and caught.
Wow.
At the 19 yard line on his back.
Jeremiah Mathis great effort by Mathis on this play.
Throwing on the run is Mike Johnson.
But before that play right there, his foot had already hit out of bounds.
Some of you are saying his body right there.
Sure he is right at the end, but his foot had already slid out of bounds.
And that's why the play was blown dead.
Yeah, disqualifies the catch.
It's going to be third down and 11 from the 30.
But a super effort there by Jeremiah Mathis who is the younger brother of James Johnson the star in this Douglas County program.
See right there already out of bounds.
Good job of concentrating though, and finishing the play.
Johnson on the quarterback draw.
Wow.
What a hit.
Vicious hit at the 22 yard line a huge collision as KJ Gamble brings the lumber.
It's going to be fourth down.
Explosive quarterback draw here by Mike.
He sees that lane open up and he's going forward.
These are the plays he makes for his team.
And a big hit there by Barney and Gamble to knock him back from that first down.
Fourth down Tigers going for it.
Time-out might be called here.
Looks like we have another flag here as well.
Try to snap false start offense.
Five-Yard penalty.
Remains fourth down.
So, Wayne, do you go for the first down here?
You got Emmanuel Boreas-Perez who can kick this field goal?
This is in his range.
I think you keep the offense out here and you go for it right here.
You're having a successful drive.
You got all the momentum right here.
You're quarterback playing with a lot of energy out on the edge.
You have the receivers that can do it.
It's one of those games you feel like you're not going to beat.
Carrollton kicking field goals early in the game.
Roll the dice here as Coach White.
Play clocks at two.
And now a time-out has been called.
So a time-out called by Douglas County, a big fourth down coming up and decision time here in Carrollton.

We got a great one here in the region.
Two 6-A Championship game, fourth and seven coming up.
Do you keep the offense out there?
Wayne?
Keep your offense out here.
Try to go for it.
Maybe hard count early in the play clock.
Try to get him to draw offside.
But the way that Mike Johnson is playing got to feel confident.
You got all the momentum to make this down.
And distance.
Line to gain is the 19.
Johnson wants to throw.
Looking, firing and caught for a first down at the 17 yard line.
Nicely executed by Aaron Gregory and Michael.
SEC battle out there on the edge.
Gregory and Barney.
Great job seeing the field moving in the pocket.
Concentration there by Gregory to get the feet inbounds.
Young man right there.
Big time player.
But that battle there, we'll see on a Saturday.
In coming seasons between Barney and Gregory.
Gregory is rated as high as the number 8 wide receiver in the class of 2026.
He chose the Aggies over 58 total offers, including Georgia and Auburn.
So first and ten for the Tigers.
They they try to level up this game.
Lindley got the handoff and Lindley Jahmir Harris coming up from that linebacker spot to make the tackle.
Good job there.
Once again.
Harris making the play out on the edge.
Reading his keys.
As you can see, stepping up as he sees the guard blocks down and a good tackle there on Lindley.
Harris already with five tackles tonight and a TfL second down and nine.
Got to keep your eye on Mike Johnson.
He's plays.
You can see him playing outside the pocket.
Ball goes to Lindley again and he falls down trying to make a cut back inside.
And there's a flag down again.
He.
Maybe illegal formation right there.
Illegal formation.
Nailed it in the backfield.
Offense Penalty's declined.
Third down.
A little while to decipher where the flag is and what could be.
Calling that moment right there.
Jeremiah Matthews up on the line of scrimmage.
In that case.
Needed to be back.
My man Wayne Gandy played in the NFL 15 years.
He knows about flags.
Not if he played 15 years.
You don't know much about flags.
If no flags, you have a two year career.
You can't have a lot of penalties.
No.
You know what the flags mean.
I'm not saying you got called for flags.
Oh.
Third down.
Johnson going to step up in the pocket and throw it and broken up at the end zone trying to go to Devin Carter.
And it was broken up.
By Zachery.
Zachery.
When things get hairy on defense they like to bring Ryan Mosley and Peyton Zachary in to play safety.
Good pressure by Zykie Helton and tight coverage there.
Ball just a little high right there.
Bring that ball down just a little bit for Carter to make a play on the ball.
Keeping bringing out the kicking unit here to try a field goal.
Yeah.
So this is going to be a 33 yard field goal from the left.
Hash.
Everything looks good.
Kick is on its way.
It's a line drive kick.
It's no good.
33 yard miss for Boreas-Perez.
And the score remains 13-7 A lot of pressure right here in the middle.
Not saying that's the main key, but a lot of bodies in Perez's face.
Right there.
Could have distracted him on where?
The line.
The ball up right there.
You saw him chatting after the play.
Just a big miss by a very capable kicker.
So the Trojans go back on offense.
Still in the lead.
Let's see who the quarterback is going to be this time.
It's going to be Hotlzclaw.
This will be his second series.
Handoff goes to Wood.
Wood not going anywhere.
Fabian making the tackle and driving him back.
I think they're going to get a flag on Fabian.
Similar to what they called on the other side for Douglas County slamming Wood to the turf right there.
And madam, not really clear.
Didn't hear a whistle.
And as a defensive player you play to the whistle, bringing the man down.
Cam Wood a strong running back here trying to get to the edge.
Stiff arm right there to the face mask.
A little bit of Fabian.
He slams him down and this would have to be a function that the whistle blew.
Every play.
Personal foul on the defense.
Also had to play with unsportsmanlike on the defense.
Both fouls will be administered from the end of the run.
That's going to.
Be a 30 yard penalty.
Wow.
A 30 yard penalty assessed to Douglas County right there with consecutive personal fouls.
And if you see the end of the play, I don't think it was the tackle at the end of the play.
He kind of kind of drove his helmet into the.
Ground, kind of smushed his face down as he and kind of got off of him by pushing his helmet into the turf.
When the tackle, it was the after.
The that's the the unsportsmanlike call.
You can see Coach White over there.
So first and ten ball comes out to the 50.
Hotlzclaw fires in the middle and incomplete off the hands of Miller.
Keaires Miller could not corral it.
Gonna bring up second down.
And this is the difference that sometimes you get changing quarterback Hotlzclaw a little more mobile.
Throwing the run just a tight angle right there to try to deliver that ball to Miller.
Just a little high on the throw, but a tight angle to try to get that ball to him.
Miller is a sophomore.
He's already got five offers, including Georgia Southern, Liberty and Georgia State.
Second down and ten and movement.
And it looks like it was Z. McClendon, the backup defensive end who jumped.
Encroachment defense five yard penalty remains second down.
Clinton.
Young, sophomore McLendon coach white said he's expected to be the next Jordan Carter for his program.
He's already got four offers, including Ole Miss and North Carolina.
You just look at these guys, you can just tell college coaches, they get off the bus, they're like, okay, we offer.
You six for 230.
As a sophomore coming off the edge.
Don't even need to see you play.
I can tell right now you're a player right up the middle.
Would cam Wood all the way down inside the 30 to the 26?
Jamar Owens saves a touchdown with the tackle.
Impressive hold right here.
Good blocking there on that left side.
Wells and Helton good push pull by Ball.
And right there shows you that speed of Wood.
Wood gets the ball again.
Cuts inside.
Kam Wood touchdown Carrollton.
Great job of blocking by the offensive line right here.
And then Kam Wood is showing you why he's such a special running back.
The vision.
Nice kick out block there by the guard.
And then just making it an easy footrace to the end zone.
As Kam Wood.
Sometimes he kind of makes you feel like he's just a power back.
And right there showing you that 10700 meter speed.
Vargas and the kick got blocked.
So no P-a-t Carrollton lead 19-7 But what a run by Kam Wood.

Coming up at the half.
It's the Football Fridays in Georgia halftime show.
We take the tour around the state.
Find out if any of the other 15 games that are deciding.
Ones and twos have any answers, or are we going to have to wait for the second half?
You save it.

And if you're looking for scores around the state, hit that QR code.
You get to find out what we find out the same time we do all night long.
Matt Wayne.
The rest of the second quarter is yours.
All right.
Thank you Nelly and Cam Wood putting on a show already tonight.
Nine carries, 79 yards and a couple of touchdowns, including that 26 yard touchdown run that you just witnessed.
Explosive run by that young man right there.
And really set the tone in that drive.
Running the ball, running behind his pads, taking advantage of the big penalties to get them that great field.
Vargas Kick's going to go into the end zone and the Carrollton program just continues to amaze.
Of course, the unfortunate circumstance with Kamari Farmer that we won't delve into here, but from the football aspect, Carrollton loses a star running back and they've got a next man up who is also a star.
At each and every position is someone that can fill the bill.
This community, these players.
And as you can see with Coach King, he's not afraid to put young freshmen and sophomores in key positions to win for him.
So back on offense for Douglas County, they're down two scores again.
Johnson going to swing it out here.
And Lindley can't come up with it.
That's going to be ruled immediately and incomplete.
Pass.
This right here is just on Mike Johnson just got a lead.
Lindley.
Clean area to throw the ball.
Just have to throw it in front of him.
Threw him behind him.
Right there.
Just couldn't come up with the catch.
Johnson five of nine passing 51 yards here in the first half.
Douglas County.
You don't want to get away from running the ball.
That's what's kind of kept you in the game.
Got that touchdown on the board for you.
Use this big offensive line.
Johnson scrambles flushed out of the pocket and throws and caught by Mathis.
Did he get his feet down?
Apparently he did not.
So you can tell that Jeremiah Mathis is a fabulous freshman talent, but this is the second time he hasn't had the awareness of where his feet are.
Although he.
Dropped ball, dropped it to yeah, he.
Dropped the ball.
I think he was in.
If he had held on to the ball he was in, he dropped the ball there as he went out of bounds.
Well I take back what I said.
Third down.
Johnson fires a dart to the outside.
It's caught by Devin Carter and that should be a first down.
We're going to get a holding here on the right tackle.
Eddie Alford right there.
Zykie Helton once again off the edge.
52 right there working the swim move.
You can see just getting held.
And Coach King just raved that he was he's their best defensive player on that front line.
When he goes over to the defense he kind of just put plays him in spurts, plays him in rushing downs.
But right there again showing you why he's so valuable to this team.
And we're talking about your starting left tackle.
Yeah.
Zykie Helton is a four star.
He's rated as high as the number 1 center in the class of 2026.
You can play up and down the whole offensive line.
And when I watch him play defensive line, he looks like he's trying to make a statement.
Standing up, coming off the head with some pressure.
It's like he's really enjoying playing on that defensive front.
A little bit like Zach Lewis last week for North Gwinnett.
Helton really coming after the quarterback and comes and gets him.
Wow.
Helton not to be denied.
Missed him the first time.
Circled back around and got him the second time.
What an outstanding play a true senior dominant performance on this play right here.
Coming off the edge.
We're talking about Eddie Alford who's headed to Memphis a three star still working right there getting hit by Julius Dumas as well.
Still working to the ball and making a play.
And we're talking about a young man who starts and plays every down on the offensive line, dominating in that situation.
That was the fifth quarterback sack of the season for Helton Boris Perez, a high kick that's going to be caught fair caught at the 44 and Carrollton is going to have great field position.
And there's a flag down back at the seven yard line.
I want to say Jay Hagan got tied up here at the end of this play.
Zamarcus Lindley.
Looks like Lindley his helmet came off.
Watch the bottom of the screen.
So Huggins blocking or Hagan is right there.
And that was Lindley knocked his helmet off.
So hands to the.
Face right there at the end.
You see Lindley come in and kick Hagan as he runs away from the ball.
As he runs the cover down the field, he he kicks him in the leg.
So should be offsetting penalties.
15 yard penalty will be added to the end of the kick.
First down Carrollton.
So they did not call the hands to the face by Hagan.
They called the kick by Lindley after his helmet came off.
A lot of emotions here tonight.
He winds up and kicks Hagan in the shin as he goes to cover down.
As you can see once again.
Well, this clearly should be a penalty on Hagan.
I think.
Number 2, hands to the face right there.
Knocks his helmet off.
Right.
Watch, watch Lindley kick him.
And then Lindley.
That's clearly a penalty.
Two on Lindley.
But am I right or am I wrong?
That should be Hanson.
Yeah it should.
Yes, definitely.
Linley's penalty.
Borderlines ejection.
In those situations.
Right there that you could review that and eject him out of the game.
And there's no room.
For that.
No room for that.
Definitely was double penalties unsportsmanlike penalties.
Although they only called the one on Douglas County.
So first and ten ball at the 30 yard line.
Zachery on the sweep.
Zachery down to the 20.
And another late hit coming up here on Douglas County.
And now we just have to kind of get control of this game right here, right on the edge.
Good block here by Cam Wood out on the edge.
Great job.
Zachery showing you the speed.
And then just out of bounds a big hit late hit to Zachery.
And most likely going to be half the distance to the goal.
He was clearly out of bounds right.
There was Peyton Zachary when he took that hit.
Down.
Well there's clearly no room in the game for that kind of stuff.
And if the fact if the if the sportsmanlike angle doesn't get you at least don't do it because it's killing your team.
It's.
It's burying.
Your team.
Yeah.
He's gifting Carrollton chunks of yards, making it easy for them in a game where they don't really need any help.
And right now, this Douglas County team is just kind of lost its composure.
Hotlzclaw the quarterback draw and he gets driven back by Dyce.
Just nowhere to go right there.
Good job by the defensive front holding at the point.
No holes no lane.
And a good job of Dyce stepping up and making this play here on Hotlzclaw.
So second down.
Under 3.5 to play here in the half.
Carrollton threatening to go up by three touchdowns.
We switched back to KJ Cypher here on this play here.
So now they're switching doing the drive.
Which is interesting.
Because.
Coach King said that Hotlzclaw was really kind of their red zone quarterback.
Going to pass it back though.
And it's complete to Miller.
Keaires Miller finds the end zone.
Touchdown Carrollton.
Get out of the way.
Great play design here by offensive coordinator Dusty Phillips a little roll right tight end screen left convoy of offensive linemen.
Good job selling it there by Cypher.
And as you can see all kinds of black jerseys to allow Miller to get into the end zone for the touchdown.
19th touchdown pass of the season for Cypher and for Miller.
His fourth touchdown reception.
And now Carrollton has taken advantage of Douglas County's lack of discipline to build a 25-7 lead.
Going to go for two.
Cypher got a man.
There's the two.
Goes to Zachery 27-7 Just too much speed there.
By Peyton Zachary a little jet action sweep come underneath.
Nice rollout here.
Play action.
Fake tight end screen.
Look at the black jerseys on the offensive line.
Not enough white jerseys over there to stop it before it can get into the end zone.
Just beautiful design.
Good execution by the tight end and the timing by the line for the walk in there for for key Miller.
And Wayne, I'm not saying that Carrollton has a 27-7 lead simply because of the penalties.
Douglas County's had, because Carrollton might have scored anyway, but Douglas County's made it way too easy for them by giving them large chunks of yards on these personal foul penalties.
Yeah, you can't be a top notch team.
A big time program like Carrollton beating yourself, and they're making it way too easy.
They're not even having to work.
And you can see that Carrollton is showing the composure that they're taking advantage of these penalties.
And this great field position.
So let's see if Douglas County can regroup as they set to take this kickoff from Vargas.
And this might be returnable from the one it is.
Owens on the return.
Can't make it back to the 20.
Gets stopped at the 19.
Right here.
You feel like Douglas County.
You got to get on the board some kind of way in this drive.
But you also want to make sure that this Carrollton team doesn't touch the field.
Again, in this half.
So get that run game going.
Mike Johnson is making plays scrambling around in the backfield.
You just have to stay ahead of the sticks.
You have no time-outs.
You got to work the ball down the field.
So first and ten for the Tigers from the 19 Johnson slings it out to the outside.
It goes to Gregory and Gregory out of bounds.
Good positive.
First down play right there on the edge.
Good job Gregory getting out of bounds stopping the clock.
Third catch of the night for Aaron Gregory.
Johnson fires in the middle and it's caught by Gregory spin move.
Gregory gets out of bounds at the 45 yard line.
Good job there.
Good route.
Deep in route there by Gregory showing you the hands and the elusiveness to get back to the outside.
Carrollton defense trying to keep everything in front of him, trying to limit those explosives.
Right now.
Johnson and Gregory are in a groove.
Handoff goes to Lindley and he gets stopped.
Hagan came up from his safety spot, I think to make the first hit.
Gamble in on the tackle as well.
Nice job there of Jay Hagan stepping up, making a play down in the box.
We've seen Lindley break tackles like that tonight.
Hagan the senior safety has five offers, including Georgia Southern, Jacksonville State and Miami of Ohio.
Ball goes out to the edge and complete again to Gregory.
And this is about Gregory just finding that open space and making himself big target for his quarterback a little fastball there by Johnson on that one.
A little heat there.
Strong hands by Gregory to catch that.
Five catches.
Now for Aaron Gregory here in the half.
Johnson steps up.
Quarterback sack back at the 48 yard line.
Spratling got to him.
Mike Johnson right here.
Only a three man rush right there.
Late dog.
By Gamble.
But Spratling getting off the block and make the play right there.
Got to be a little quicker with the decision right there.
When you feel that pressure by Johnson getting up in that lane.
So time-out called on the field with 1-45 to play in the half.
Here's a look at Carrollton.
Season summary.
9-0 3-0 here in the region going for their fourth consecutive region title.
Ranked number 3 in the GPB top ten.
Number 5 in the Georgia High School Association PSR.
They're number 13 in the country by MaxPreps.
They've won 20-3 of their last 24 games.
Their only loss during that time to Grayson in the state finals.
And their next game will be the first round of the state playoffs.
It's an impressive year, especially offensively.
Talk about a big part, juju Lewis leaving and going on reclassified and left early on this team.
And so to be able to pick up and be 42 points a game is just outstanding representation of their coach, Joey King.
You know, in a way they've flown a little bit under the radar, not because they haven't been good, they just don't have the hoopla of the five star quarterback.
And, you know, where's he going to go to college?
And that dominated our conversation for so long.
So in that regard not as much talk because they don't have the five star quarterback anymore.
But they're just as good maybe better.
Ball goes complete to Gregory again out of a no.
That's Greg, not Gregory that time.
That's going to be Drey Reading that time number 14.
Good route there by Reggie.
Just finding that open grass deliver the ball and then getting upfield taking what the defense Carrollton is playing a little soft here trying to keep everything in front of him and come up and making the tackle right there.
Redding getting out of the tackle to pick up that first down.
First and ten from the 32.
Johnson scrambling.
Now he's being chased.
Throws it out of bounds.
Mathis was in the area.
So not intentional grounding.
Good job feeling the pressure.
Having the smarts by Mike Johnson to get out of that tackle box.
As you can see.
Get it to the outside so you can throw this ball away.
Big pressure there by CJ Gamble.
Yeah CJ Gamble impressive consensus three star pick.
The Yellow Jackets over 19.
Other offers including South Florida, App State and Memphis.
Second down and ten.
Ball off the hands of Gregory.
That time they were trying to set up a screen.
And this just Zachary Helton getting in the vision there of Gregory flashing up, playing hard broke his concentration.
Usually sure hand is Gregory just trying to set up that receiver screen out on the edge, get it to the playmakers you can see right here in this drive.
They're just throwing short to their explosive playmakers trying to get down the field.
How many times have we seen Gregory take a screen like that and go 80 yards?
Many third down and ten.
Johnson being flushed out of the pocket again.
Now he's running trying to get to the corner and does and goes out of bounds at the 27 yard line.
It's going to be fourth down.
Good hustle there by CJ Gamble not to let that become an even bigger play.
You can see Johnson showing you some speed to get out of that trouble.
And out on the edge.
Got out of bounds as well to stop the clock.
It's fourth down.
They got to go for it here.
Line to gains the 22.
It's sitting on the 27.
Trying to take advantage of this soft coverage.
As you can see the secondary is back.
Going to try to give up the pass and come up and make the tackle.
Johnson runs out of trouble and did not get the first down I don't think, but there's a late hit coming.
They're going to be a flag on Carrollton.
I believe he did not pick up the first down, but Carrollton just gifted him the first down.
Nowhere to go with this ball for Johnson.
Pulling it down, trying to sacrifice for his team.
Peyton Zachary coming over and right on the edge as Johnson stepped out of bounds.
And you got to imagine these officials going to call that tight the rest of this game.
As you can see, only a three man rush Eddie Alford getting away with a little hold on the right tackle and then right there, just a step too late there.
By Zachery.
So the personal foul is confirmed.
And they called.
We couldn't hear the official.
He did not have his microphone on.
So John Nelson is tromping down there to find out what's going on for us.
So Nelly's going to be our translator.
We couldn't hear what the official said.
Let me get some investigating going on.
I will come up with your translation shortly, sir.
But it is going to be a first down for Douglas County that we know as the ball is spotted inside the 12.
Wait.
Oh, wow.
It's going to be Carrollton ball.
So they're going to rule.
The penalty came at the end of the play.
We'll wait for Nelly to give us an explanation on that one.
Wood on the cutback.
Fabian hit him first and he goes down at the 15 yard line.
So they're going to say the penalty came after the play.
Dead ball, foul short of the line to gain.
So we're going to say he was out of bounds.
He didn't pick up the first down.
The penalty.
Half the distance to the goal after the play.
Nelly what you got.
Dead ball foul short of the line to gain was the explanation from the side.
Judge.
Mm.
Okay.
Don't know that I've ever seen that application of the penalty like that.
I thought typically on a play like that, the offense would get the 15 yard penalty.
So in essence, when you when you back it up like that, you're saying the penalty was on the opposing offense, right?
Yeah.
They're saying the play was dead.
Carrollton had his Carrollton Ball and then they created a penalty.
Yeah.
Nelly.
So yes, dead ball foul.
So he was short of the line to gain on the original play.
Play is dead.
Dead ball foul.
And then that's how you end up with the situation being what it was for Carrollton with the.
Ball.
Okay.
I mean, I understand what they called, but I don't understand why they called it that way.
Because the kid ran out of bounds, still had the ball in his hands.
It wasn't like he had tossed it back to the official.
And they were walking to the sideline.
And then the foul happened.
Yeah, it was all bang, bang.
Yeah.
I mean, it was like the play was a half second dead.
We've seen that where Douglas County would have kept the ball in that situation.
So third down and short here.
They give the ball to Wood and he's going to pick up the first down.
That might be the final play of the first half.
They stop the clock to move the chains.
Stupid call by the officials.
So clock running looks like the Trojans will run another play.
Cypher going to step up and then throw.
This is going to be a double pass.
Or try it.
Zachary now throws it out of bounds.
I think he stepped out of bounds before he even threw the pass.
Almost.
Interesting call right there.
Now the late penalty.
Interesting call in this situation with 20.
Well that was going to be our Halloween trick.
We I said earlier we've had a bunch of treats but no tricks.
That was going to be the trick play right before the end of the half.
So Cypher stepped up to make it a backwards pass, which he did.
That part was good, but let's see what the officials have to say.
Intentional grounding on the wide receiver.
Well, we do know he was out of outside of the box.
So the only thing I could see is maybe the ball didn't get back.
But it looked like it got back to the line of scrimmage.
In that case.
We're going to have to start bringing Dave Reynolds along with us on every.
Game.
Of course, Dave Reynolds works with us in the booth during the state finals to help us interpret the rules, interpret, interpret, interpret the rules.
And I imagine here we're just going to kneel down and let the have and take this 20 point lead into the half for Carrollton.
Try to get to the locker room with another without another flag being thrown.
Not sure why they were worried about the play clock going down in this situation.
Ball goes out on the Edge to Peyton Zachary and that's the final play of the half.
Teams head to the locker room and Carrollton in the region two 6-A Championship game has a 27-7 lead on Douglas County.
So waiting for Nelly to catch up with Joey King, which he has, and the interview is brought to you by Johnny's New York style pizza.
Your original neighborhood pizzeria.
Thank you very much, Matt.
Here to get the slice of the first half from Coach King.
What'd you think about it out there?
You were clinical when Douglas County was giving you all of these penalty yards.
You were clinical and finishing your chances here in the first half.
Yeah.
We'll take it any way we can get it.
You know, definitely not the ideal first half.
Proud of our guys for fighting.
We're in the position that we want to be heading into the second half.
So hopefully we can capitalize on that.
Then defensively, obviously keeping them in check.
It's a high powered offense.
They can hit you from a bunch of different places, but you kept them pinned in.
Yeah it's not it's not over.
They're explosive.
You know when you got the firepower that they got they can score at the drop of a hat.
So we got to make sure that we're tuned in to our keys and playing assignment football in the second half.
Thanks for your time, Joey.
Thanks, coach Trojans.
That's Joey King.
He is up 20 at the break.
When we come back, it is the Football Fridays in Georgia halftime show.

It is time to catch up with our friends from Cigna and our signature moment this week we catch up and find out about a very important topic, especially this time of year as you're heading toward the holidays.
Our signature moment this time deals with stress.
Teens are dealing with a lot of stress, and that can be overwhelming.
Kirk Erickson, Cigna Healthcare general manager for Georgia and Alabama, is here to help parents spot the signs.
Kirk, why is it so important to talk about teens and stress?
Well, Hannah, our teens are really struggling with mental health issues.
That's not unusual right now.
Cigna actually conducted a report on loneliness, and we found that Gen Z is the loneliest generation that there is.
And here in Atlanta, 60% of teens are reporting increasing stress and confusion about things like school.
Think about sports, tryouts, exams, tests.
So they're constantly trying to keep up.
Social media pressure.
All the things 100%.
What are the warning signs that your teen could be struggling?
Well, as a parent, you know what's normal for them.
So if you start to see them pulling back or doing things differently, a different friend group, maybe they were outgoing and now they're more reclusive.
Whatever the situation might be, if you see a change in normal behaviors, have the conversation with them.
Just see how they're doing.
Make an open line of communication and make sure that's constantly available to them.
How can we support our team's mental health?
Well, again, it's essential to talk openly and honestly.
And in this day and age, I think what's great is that behavioral care has really been destigmatized.
So there's access to care even from the privacy of your own home.
If you feel like your teen is struggling with something, let's let's talk to a doctor.
Let's get some behavioral support for them, because unfortunately, suicide rates continue to rise amongst teens.
There's no more important topic that we could be talking about.
So this is life saving information.
Absolutely.
Kirk, thank you so much for being here and sharing.
Thank you.
If you would like more information on this topic, please visit cigna.com.
Thanks, as always to our friends at Cigna for the signature moment that you get to hear and see here on Football Fridays every single week.
Now it's time to catch up with our friends at Heads Up Georgia, the Heads Up Georgia Campaign, and the Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
And this time around, it's about a six letter word.
B r a k e. Let's find out the latest from our friends at Heads Up.
Georgia.
Here at the brakes program, we're just introducing to the teens some of the basic concepts of car control.
And in our program itself, it's 3 hours long, but we jam pack it full of a lot of things.
So they're learning how to use that steering wheel correctly to brake and then steer around something that could be in your lane.
We also teach them a slalom course so they learn how to look ahead, plan their route, be real smooth the steering wheel so they maintain control of the.
Car.
Keep looking, looking, looking.
Good job.
Distracted driving is a huge issue right now.
And it's not just cell phones.
It could be a sibling in the car.
It could be a friend.
It could be those huge nav screens.
The manufacturers are putting on cars.
It could be loud music.
Unfortunately, majority of the teens that are hurt and killed in a car crash never had the steering wheel in their hand.
They were just an innocent bystander sitting on the passenger side of that vehicle.
So we have to teach the teens to keep both hands on the wheel and keep their eyes focused on the windshield.
And by the time these teens rotate through our exercises, they're going to have a good feel for car control and be better prepared for those what ifs that they're going to encounter sooner or later down that road, we think this training is important for any driver behind the wheel.
If you're young or old, if a parent and teen can give up 3 hours of their time, we're going to make them a better driver, that's for sure.
Look, see, that is the face that I get every single time.
The heads Up Georgia student video contest is back.

When it comes to heads up, Georgia coming up around the corner, we get to find out what it's like to be an incredible two way player in Jefferson.
Are you player of the week and find out a lot more what's going on here in Carrollton with the Trojans and Douglas County coming up around the corner?
Halftime show continues here on the Great GPB stick and Stay.
We will be right back.
That's a promise.
They weren't twins but like they grew up almost like they were.
There was a boating accident and he was on the raft.
He fell off and she didn't.
Nothing day go by.
They don't think about her.
Think he went 13-0 you know, hit lead off pitch shut out in the semifinals.
Pitched a shutout in the state championship.
The final out was made.
And he's looking up in the sky.
Everybody just knows when they see that picture.
They know what he's doing and what he's playing for.
Welcome back to Grisham Stadium Football Fridays in Georgia.
Halftime show rolls on here.
Band is playing behind us and they are loud and proud.
It's always great to see the bands here on the great GPB time for our You Save It player of the week.
And for this trip we find someone who is very, very important to Travis, Nolan and life in Jefferson.
Max Brown.
Here's his story.
He's not avoiding contact.
He's looking for contact.
And the thing that I appreciate about the way he plays as well is he's going to play as hard as he can play.
When it's time to play, he's a he's an animal, you know, and he's able to flip that switch.
Max does a great job on offense.
He's going to get a lot of reps for us in the state championship game.
He made a couple of plays that were just sheer effort and want to had nothing to do with coaching, had nothing to do with technique.
It was just him really doing everything he could to make a play for our team.
And you hit somebody, you just feel their whole body just shock back and you hear the crowd go, ooh, that just makes me hungrier.
Want me to do it again?
Welcome back to Football Fridays in Georgia Max Brown very, very key to what's going on at Jefferson.
Now it's time to catch up with our friends at Georgia EMC.
And it's a trip to Lowndes.
And let's just say at the end, there were a lot of folks celebrating.
Here's our trip.
With EMC and 35 other participating Georgia Electric membership cooperatives congratulate Lowndes High on winning the GHSA Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award.
This award honors schools that exhibit exemplary sportsmanship during competitive events.
Only one school in each region in each classification is chosen to receive this annual award.
The GHSA takes into consideration all aspects of sportsmanship, making the award a tribute to the entire community.
Colquitt, EMC and Georgia EMC are excited to sponsor the cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award.
We're excited to present this award to the Lowndes High School Vikings for their outstanding sportsmanship in all sports areas.
Congratulations!
Go Vikings!
Introduced in 2006, this award reinforces the GHSA philosophy that everyone associated with high school activities, from athletes to spectators, should adhere to the fundamental values it represents.
Our goal this year is to lead with heart and strength in order to build a legacy.
So to me, being awarded this just means that our kids are doing the right things on the field as well as in the classroom and in our community.
Winning this award.
We are honored because it is a testament to our one Lowndes mentality.
You know, we pride ourselves on not just being good at the major sports, but everything.
It's exciting.
To be.
Able to show other people beyond our community what it means to be part of the one.
Lowndes family.
This community really has a lot of buy in.
The energy is always in the room when we have our students in, in the schools or on the field, and to be able to showcase that across the state of Georgia really is something we're very proud of.
Georgia EMC and the 36 participating Georgia Electric membership cooperatives are proud to sponsor the Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award.
Congratulations to the Lowndes Fikes Community.
Told you it was a lot of people told you it was loud.
When the Georgia Bridgemen are there and they bring the horn section, you know it's going to be a fun time.
Thanks as always to our friends at Georgia EMC.
When we come back, you have the commercial break to get properly stretched out because it's that time when we focus on folks that need the attention and need the attention going to the next level, because we got five letters coming up around the corner as the Football Fridays in Georgia halftime show continues, MTV Moore from Carrollton after the break.
You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh hey what's up man?
You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.
Jacket and you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.
So why would you drive a car while distracted driving isn't a game when you lose on the road, it could lead to a crash.
So when you get behind the wheel, put the distractions aside, drive hands free, and save lives.
Heads up Georgia.
Georgia's 41 electric cooperatives are anything but static.
Since the flip of the first light switch, we continue to innovate as the demand for energy increases.
MCs draw from a wide variety of resources to generate electricity, from natural gas to nuclear power and renewables, so that we can reliably power tomorrow.
We're harnessing the current to satisfy the future Georgia's EMCs so much more than electricity.
Continuing from Grisham Stadium here in Carrollton.
All right, you've properly stretched.
I know you have, because it's time for everybody to point to the screen.
I'm putting my papers down because it's that time to make that kid an offer.
Make that kid an offer.
This week starts at Hannah's alma mater, Lassiter, with Mitch Seaman, their QB, six foot, 205.
This season.
Top ten 5-A passing stat leaders with 14 scores and 1,600 plus yards total offense over 2019 scores.
Junior year six TDs passing, two more rushing all region.
Honorable mention.
Also runs track.
Works closely with the youth football community and enjoys fishing in his downtime.
Currently three offers.
Looking for more?
Make Mitch Seaman an offer.
Jack Trout two way player, linebacker, wide receiver at Sprayberry, 61, 203.
Good instincts, making big plays on the field eight games, 63 total tackles, four TfL, seven hurries and two sacks.
Currently ranked MaxPreps top ten in the region for total tackles, honorable mention accolades in his junior year with 70 tackles, two TfL, two sacks, three QB hurries and a pick make.
Jack trout an offer.
Cam Davis out of Newnan 510, 180 475 yards, 5.3 a game and eight TDs so far this season.
Had six TDs honorable mention his junior year on the track team.
FCA, 3.0 GPA, volunteers with various organizations, attended several camps he attended five of them actually, and has an offer from Rinehart.
One offer and that is it so far.
So make cam Davis more offers and Mason Townsend, two way lineman at Monroe area 62, 270 for the Purple Hurricanes, 20 tackles, six TfL, two sacks in a hurry.
Lineman of the week.
Described by canes head coach Kevin Reach as the epitome of what we look for in a Monroe area lineman, all region last year, 3.9 GPA, hunting and fishing in his free time make Mason Townsend an offer that is, make that offer for this week.
All right.
In addition to those 20 sixes this week, you can look at some 20 sevens.
Julio Perez out of North Murray a two way player there.
Graham Burmeister the quarterback out of Woodstock Andrew Rho from River Ridge a two way player there for the class of 27.
Time to bring in Ian Lyle, the principal of Carrollton.
See, he hit his mark in everything.
That's right.
So first off, thanks for being a great host with us all week long.
It's great to see you absolutely outside of what's going on in the on the athletic side of things, what's going on that other folks need to know about?
Well, sure.
Well, first of all, I'd just like to say thank you guys for being here.
And thank you for your continued support of high school athletics.
We have so much going on on.
Our.
Campus, whether it be academics, arts, athletics, there's always something going on here.
So we just finished up a great band competition, one act play.
Our debate season is in full swing.
Robotics.
We've got Stem computer science.
There's always something going on.
So there's a lot going on on campus.
I was going to say, is that all that's going on?
What's it like to have that AAA experience where it's arts, academics and athletics all coming together here for everything that you see every day?
Absolutely.
Great question.
And I would like to say that that everything that we do is part of an overall experience to improve the outcomes for students and provide them opportunities to compete, provide them opportunities to be a part of a social group, to find direction in their lives.
And so when they graduate their college and career ready and they have a plan.
All right.
So it's Halloween.
I see a lot of Halloween out here.
And it's really cool to see everybody decked out.
And as you can tell, he's decked out as an academician.
I'm decked out as a sports guy.
So we're hitting it on all the right notes.
What does all of this mean on a Friday?
Not just here for Halloween, where everybody is all dressed up and everything, but what a Football Fridays mean, there.
So much for us.
You know, we have a great community.
We have great, great students, we've got great coaches, we have some great support top to bottom.
It starts at the top.
Our Board of education, our superintendent doctor Mark Albertus.
They do so much to put our students to be in positions to be successful on the field and in the classroom and beyond.
Good to see you, my friend.
Absolutely.
Thank you guys.
He's going to enjoy the second half and he's going to try and thaw out my hand because, you know, look, I had to hide all of my heating pads.
We're going to go catch up with Johnny White.
That's it for the halftime show.
We'll find out what Douglas County has to say and what they've got to do to work on this deficit.
Moore from Grisham Stadium and the cold here on the great GPB stick and stay will be right back.

All right.
What do you think, Jasper?
Honestly, I think that polyester shirts affecting your game.
What?
I think cotton would have been a better choice.
Cotton.
And it's come a long way.
You know, nowadays, cotton breeze and wicks moisture.
Great.
Plus, buying cotton means supporting Georgia farmers.
I think that's wonderful.
Okay, sure.
But what do you think about the putt?
Oh, it's really I hadn't thought about it.
I said I never joined.
Never knew I was strong.
I was.
Joining the Navy.
Sounds crazy.
Saying never actually is.

Start of the third quarter here in Carrollton and the Trojans leading Douglas County 27-7 Here in the region.
Two 6-A Championship game in the halftime interview is brought to you by Johnny's New York style pizza, your original neighborhood pizzeria.
Let's send it down to Jon Nelson.
Thank you very much, Matt.
We are anticipating a light show.
That's why it's a little brighter than normal.
Obviously, you were working your way down the field offensively.
You were hitting other weapons and you were hitting a lot of weapons.
Mike and Aaron had a bit of a rhythm going on.
Obviously, the defense tightened and you couldn't get it into the end zone and you had to do a lot of it with without Rah’Keith Kelly how have you had to adjust offensively without having that cog?
Or missing?
Rocky was big tonight.
I mean, he's definitely the the straw that stirs the drink.
But next man up we got to do what we got to do.
We got to stop kicking.
We gotta stop beating ourselves.
Too many personal fouls.
Too many bad penalties.
Let's just fight.
Let's go out there and have a good time.
So 24 minutes to enjoy.
So that's what we're going to do.
I was going to say what was the message about those penalties that was creating the chances for Carrollton.
What were you talking about in there?
I mean, a lot of times when Douglas County loses Douglas County, that does it to themselves.
So we got we got to stop being our worst enemy, play together and just no, no stupid fouls.
Let's see what we can do.
The second half.
Thanks for your.
Time, John.
No problem.
Always good.
All right, Matt, that's the early word from down here.
We'll start the third quarter and I'm in the light.
Everybody else is in the dark, man.
You're in the dark.
I think up there.
Get ready for the third quarter.
I think I see you.
Yeah, we're up here.
Find your way back.
Wayne.
Let's take a look at the first half highlights.
Opening, possession and CJ Cypher going up top to Peyton Zachary.
Zachery having a big half.
Setting up his offense and scoring position and getting the ball to Cam Wood for the first touchdown.
Three yard touchdown run.
Made it 6-0 And then second possession.
Mason Hotlzclaw in their quarterback finds Peyton Zachary.
Peyton Zachary once again making the impact.
And then this Douglas County team went to running the ball.
Mike Johnson jumping in for the two yard touchdown.
Cam Wood big 26 yard touchdown run that opens up a 197 lead for Carrollton.
And then, after a bunch of penalties on Douglas County, they cap the touchdown drive on the 11 yard pass from Cypher to Miller.
And here's a look at the halftime stats.
I mean, you look at the stats and that doesn't look like a 277 game right there.
Yeah.
When you look at the stats time of possession, exactly what Douglas County wanted to do possess the ball.
Keep this Carrollton high powered offense on the sideline.
But the penalties, even though on the board they look even at nine apiece.
It seemed like the Douglas penalties really gifted key situations and bad field position for the defense to stop this Carrollton team.
That was three for three in the red zone and three for five on third down for Douglas County.
They got to be clean.
They have to be cleaner in all operations and they got to stop beating themselves as their coach said.
Yeah, it was the timing of the penalties more than anything else.
And the good news for Douglas County is they're going to get the ball to start the third quarter.
Come out, establish the run.
When they run the ball behind that offensive line, they really dominated in this game, getting Zamarcus Lindley going and keeping themselves out of those third and long situations where they were two for seven on third down.
Well here you go.
Second half.
Kickoff is brought to you by Heads Up Georgia.
Park your phone while you're driving.
It saves lives as we get this third quarter underway in the region.
Two 6-A Championship game, Matt Stewart, along with Wayne Gandy, you saw John Nelson there at halftime.
He's going to go hydrate and take a breath.
Here we go.
And this will be a nonreturnable kick.
So the Tigers will begin the third quarter at their own 20 yard line.
We'll see if they can first and foremost, as Johnny White said, get out of their own way.
That's been their Achilles heel in this game.
Just situations where after the ball, after the whistle, personal fouls and just in key moments where they basically bailed Carrollton out, they got to stay ahead of the sticks offensively and Moore false starts and try to get this run game going.
Michael Johnson nine of 16 passing for 104 yards and one rushing touchdown in the first half as he brings the offense out to start the third quarter.
He's moving.
Quick pass comes out here complete and that's going to be Mathis making the catch and out of bounds at the 25.
We came in the game expecting Gregory and Carter to catch a lot of balls.
But we've seen Mike Johnson and Jeremiah Mathis connect a lot here tonight with Rah’Keith Kelly being out after that first quarter.
Gregory has five catches for 52 yards and that is Lindley right up the middle.
And he's going to be stopped about a yard short of the first down.
But Devin Carter is the one.
He has only one catch for 16 yards.
And when he got a talent like Devin Carter you got to get him the ball.
More than that.
Yeah.
Nursing a little ankle injury from last week's game.
But he's an explosive player right now.
He's not on the field.
And once again false start penalty up top there.
The Aaron Gregory.
Offense five yard penalty.
Previous spot remains third down.
Now that's just a killer right there.
Because you go from a third and one to third and six totally changes the play that you're going to run.
And that's this defense.
Let go.
They like to blitz.
They like to bring pressure.
We've seen in this situation with Helton Zykie Helton being able to bring pressure off the edge.
Mike Johnson has improvised and got out of the pocket.
But another third and long situation.
Aaron Gregory one of the top wide receivers in the entire country.
Now third and six Tigers are two of seven on their third downs here in this game.
Handoff goes to Lindley.
He's going to get the first down.
Zamarcus Lindley with a nice run.
Spratling making the tackle.
And then Simmons came up to deliver the finishing blow.
Good job of blocking in that middle.
Jordan Madu Dumas the balance right there.
The strength to be able to keep his feet by Lindley and pick up that first down.
So first and ten for the Tigers at the 38 yard line.
I mean, the Tigers have clearly been able to run the ball.
It's when they've deviated away from the run that they've had trouble on offense.
Lindley gets it again.
This time he's going to be tackled after just a two yard gain.
Continue to run the ball.
Try to wear this defensive front down that plays hard, plays great technique, but they are giving up a lot of weight inside.
When you talk about this offensive line, keep these linebackers having to run and make plays and just continue to drive and eat up this clock and get on the board.
Second down, Johnson throws it deep and incomplete looking for Gregory as flags come out.
Barney was running with him.
Step for step.
Might get the DPI.
I. Dorian Barney being tested here tonight.
Doesn't see a lot of action.
Because he's such a great player here.
Just a 50 50 ball.
He has his head around looking for the ball.
They're hand fighting.
I don't see a lot there.
Once you.
Turn interference defense.
15 yard penalty from previous spot.
First down.
Once Barney gets that head around and finds the ball, they're just kind of hand fighting down the field.
Tough penalty right there on the defense.
Of course this is not college football or the National Football League, but definitely in the NFL.
That would not have been a penalty.
No.
There.
Once you establish finding the ball by turning around, you get away with a little touching.
You can see Gregory trying to push off just a physical battle up there between two stars.
But it is a penalty here in high school football.
So a first and ten for the Tigers at the 45.
And Ryan Mosley comes on the four star wide receiver.
Or is he coming in to play safety I know the Georgia coaches.
He's committed to Georgia.
And depending upon which coach you talk to is where he'll be playing next year in Athens.
Johnson quick out.
Gregory lunges forward to the 29. , and you can tell Mike Johnson understands if you're going to play Aaron Gregory with that soft coverage right there.
This is just a stop route.
Go 5 yards.
Go to the car.
The red car and turn around.
I'm gonna throw you the ball.
It's just simple, easy football.
If you're going to play off him that far, just take the 5 yards and then what he can get after the catch.
First and ten from the 30 Lindley gets the ball again and Lindley a strong 8 yards on the play down to the 22.
And again this has been here all night.
And we debated that at halftime.
Why did they get away from the run.
Because they were running the ball effectively on their touchdown drive that went 80 yards.
Four or 5 yards a carry.
Lindley swirling through those holes in the middle, right downhill.
Quick pass goes to Gregory again.
They're playing off him and they take advantage of it.
And Barney gets him out of bounds.
But that's going to be a first and goal to go for the Tigers.
Inside the ten.
Barney giving up a lot of cushion to Gregory.
And he's willing to take it.
Him and Mike Johnson on the same page right here.
Look how far Barney is on that play right there.
We're talking about third and short.
You're 8 yards off the receiver.
Seven catches.
Now for Aaron Gregory 79 yards.
They spot it out at the ten.
So it's first and goal to go from the ten.
Zone.
Read kept by Johnson.
Gets knocked out of bounds at the one big hit by Barney to come up and meet him at the 1 yard line and denying the end zone.
Great read here by Mike Johnson Reading Mason McLendon 95 goes down on the read on Lindley and then oops, outside quickly.
Big hit right there.
Just enough.
I'm not sure he didn't stick that ball over though before he went out of bounds here, but good job of getting off the block by Barney a little stick of the ball out.
And Auburn Alabama that's a touchdown.
Second down and goal.
And I believe we're going to have offsides encroachment on Carrollton.
They had a guy coming off the edge really hot right.
Snap encroachment defense.
Half the distance to the goal remains first down.
We've seen this defense get a couple of these penalties tonight.
When they get in that third that first and goal on the one or two seems like it's rolling.
Rolling the dice and seeing if they can get a step.
Yeah, they're giving up a lot of size.
They're trying to get off the ball.
Exactly.
Let's get the quick jump.
Maybe they won't call it.
Second down and goal ball inside the one.
Now.
Johnson going to try to run to the side.
And he does.
Touchdown Douglas County Douglas County goes 80 yards to start the third quarter and cuts it to 27 13.
Nice read once again out on the edge there by Mike Johnson.
We do have a late flag here.
But it was after the touchdown score.
We've had a chippy game here.
It's been a lot of back and forth late hits a lot of trash talk, pushing, shoving between both of these teams.
The Battle of West Georgia is going on here Matt.
And there's been no love lost between these two teams.
That sounds good.
After the play.
Personal foul on the defense.
Penalty on the kickoff.
So that gives them an option there.
So the kickoff is going to come on the other side of the 50 after Johnson takes it in for the score.
His second rushing touchdown of the night.
We'll see.
Douglas County pointing at Carrollton.
And if this is encroachment on Carrollton, do you go for two?
You definitely line up and go for two in this situation.
If they put you down on that 1 yard line.
Go for two, you go for two.
Go for dose.
It's a big game.
It's time to the way this Carrollton offense, even without your help, is moving the ball.
You got to get aggressive here.
If you're Coach White.
Half the distance try to snap encroachment defense.
After this go retry.
It looks like they're going to decline it so they can keep a better angle here for Perez.
There's really no score benefit to going for two here.
Although a lot of teams will elect to do that when they get a penalty in this situation because you're down 14 right now.
And now you're down 13.
So 27 14 is Johnson scores his second touchdown of the night.
Douglas County claws back into the game here early in the third quarter.

So.
You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh hey what's up man?
You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.

And you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.

So now, because of that 15 yard penalty on the touchdown, you get to kick from the 45.
Onside kick you have to be aware of the onside kick situation right here, because in that it doesn't really hurt.
You know, to try onside kick right here.
I mean.
Even it puts the return team in having to cover the ball as well.
Yeah I would try an onside kick or maybe kind of a pooch kick to see if I could make it land in no man's land around the, you know, 20 yard line, or maybe off to the right or left of the kick returner at the 15.
They do kind of angle it, but it goes right to the returner and he'll take a knee Wood at the 14 yard line.
Right idea, but not the right execution.
Yeah, a little more hang time.
Make him have to feel.
Him move and make him move and have to make a decision in catching the ball there.
Instead, you kicked it right to him.
But that was the right idea.
You just want to make him move to his left or right and try to field it on the run.
So Hotlzclaw comes out to run the offense to begin this third quarter as they continue their two quarterback system.
He's three of six passing for 14 yards and a touchdown.
And three for 17 yards rushing.
And the ball is loose.
Back inside the five throwing out of the end zone and incomplete.
Good job there by Hotlzclaw keeping his composure.
Definitely two receivers now.
The ball was thrown a little high and far, but in the angle of two receivers right there and it looks like they're going to drop a flag.
That'll be a penalty.
That'll be a. Safety and get a safety on this.
I don't know that I agree with that call.
They had receivers in the.
Area in the area.
The ball was just a little high, but there were two receivers standing over there as the ball floated on him.
But that's not what you want to.
You don't want to throw the ball at him.
You just want to throw it in their direction.
Right?
Yeah.
All right.
If this is an intentional grounding, I don't agree with the call.
Move.
For grounding offense, the results of the safety.
Tough call right there.
Don't agree with this call.
A good job by Mason Hotlzclaw.
Watch his.
He's got receivers over here.
Two receivers in that area right there.
Kind of out of the box as well.
And it's two receivers.
The ball just goes high over.
The rule isn't that you have to throw the ball at receivers.
Throw it in their direction.
In their direction.
In that case.
And Joey King is out there arguing and he's got a right to do so.
That was not a good call.
Sorry to our official Brethrens.
That was not a good call.
Ball was snapped a little early there.
Hotlzclaw was not expecting that snap, but did a good job of going back, showing some patience, not only picking the ball up, but moving outside of the pocket area and throwing the ball in the direction of the receivers.
So now Johnny White is out there.
It's like they're politicking.
They've already made the call.
They've already called it intentional grounding and a safety, and you could clearly see on the replay there were receivers in that direction.
And like you said, intentional grounding doesn't mean you didn't throw them right.
You throw it in their direction.
That's the whole point of it.
Right?
You don't want you don't want to throw it to the receiver.
That's the whole point of why you're getting rid of the ball.
You don't want to throw it late and throw an interception.
Just want to throw it over their heads.
And they look like they're having a discussion.
They haven't picked the flag up.
So maybe.
You can see Johnny White is.
He's concerned that they're going to change the call.
But if they do, it would be the right call because I don't think it was intentional grounding.
So Joey King still out there making the argument.
You can see he's pointing to that direction of the field.
And what you already saw at home watching on television.
You saw the receivers out there.
Johnny White is growing more concerned with every passing second that they're going to change the call.
No.
They're going to they're going to keep it.
Tough call.
Right.
They're giving up two points and getting the ball back.
Yeah.
But once again ball snapped a little early.
You can see Hotlzclaw was not expecting the ball.
He rallies to it gets out the pocket.
There are two receivers right there at the ten yard line that the ball kind of sails over their head.
And that is the right decision.
By Mason Hotlzclaw you don't want to try to throw that ball to them and get it intercepted.
No, he did the right thing.
So two points on the board for Douglas County makes it 27 16.
And now a free kick.
And let's see if Carrollton punts it here or place kicks it.
Yeah.
After the.
Kick.
Sometimes teams will elect to punt the free kick so they can get better hang time and less return.
Of course, a kickoff would allow for a a better chance at a return.
Hey, don't make it.
Stupid.
So Vargas will kick from the 20.
Kick is going to be taken at the 25 yard line.
Here comes Clowney and David Clowney is going to get stopped at the 44.
Good coverage right there.
Good kick as well.
Hard kick.
Clowney having to run back and feel that ball.
John, what you got?
I don't know how much of it you caught, but the largest issue that Joey King had is that there is no such thing as an uncatchable ball.
In high school, and he continued to lobby the officials to that effect, also pointing out, as you guys did, that Ryan Mosley was in the area.
So those were the two main points for Joey when he was discussing things with the officials.
Then you saw Joey all the way out and you saw Johnny White come all the way out lobbying that if he can be out that far, I can be out that far.
So it was kind of a tete a tete with geography as well.
So let me ask you, Nelly, did the officials use that terminology?
Uncatchable ball?
I did not hear them say uncatchable ball in any of the discussions they may have.
And that may have been why Joey was using that word with them in that conversation, and continued to say Ryan Mosley was in the area.
So if they went to the uncatchable ball idea, I didn't hear it.
But I'm imagining and I'm extrapolating here, that that was part of the conversation.
Gotcha.
Because we have been told on any number of occasions that terminology does not exist in high school football, because you hear it all the time in the National Football League.
But in high school football, there is nothing in the rule book that talks about an uncatchable pass.
So that would be interesting.
Joey used it according to what Nelly said, Joey used it in his conversation.
If the officials said that, that would run contrary to what we've always been told, that there's no such thing as uncatchable pass in the high school football rulebook.
Yeah, the ball was two receivers, not just one.
Mosley was there, but the ball was in that area and that should have just been a play on play.
But we do have Ezra Jordan down here.
The big left guard for Douglas County looks like maybe a cramp.
Having to remove that brace to to to kind of get that circulation going in his leg.
And then again, just kind of going back not to belabor the point, just put a bow on the story.
The whole point of throwing the ball away is to make it uncatchable.
To make it uncatchable.
Yes.
For the for the offense and the defense, because you don't want it to be intercepted.
Yeah you don't.
You're in an emergency situation.
And the rules obviously allow for you to do that.
It's not against the rule to throw the ball away.
Yeah.
You want to throw it in the dirt at the feet of the receiver or over their head with nobody has a chance.
But at that point, the whole idea and thought is that I'm just kind of throwing the ball away to get out of this play and get out of danger.
And the rules allow for you to do that.
Within a certain context.
All right.
So there you go.
We've had enough of that second down and nine ball at the 45 yard line.
And Mosley comes back out on defense.
Trips to the far right down by the numbers here by Douglas County.
Hand off goes to Lindley.
Lindley trying to get around the pursuit and can't.
That was Hagan who came up and made a great tackle at the 46.
Nice job of extending that play, pushing it out to the edge here.
DJ Logan with the penetration Mike Thomas and then Hagan coming in, getting in the wheels there of Lindley to get him down, forcing his third and long in this situation.
And one of the big plays they've had tonight is just really little stop routes getting the ball out to Aaron Gregory and letting him make something happen.
So third down ball at the 46.
They got to get it to the other 46 for the first.
Pass.
Dropped right in the hands of Reading.
Nice job here by CJ Gamble.
Kind of getting in Redding's view of the ball as he breaks on this ball.
He didn't get a hand on it, but being able to block the vision of Redding catching that ball right there.
Good job by that senior linebacker CJ Gamble.
So fourth down Douglas County unable to do anything with it after the free kick.
And Boreas-Perez is standing at his 32 to punt and the dangerous Peyton Zachary back at his 22 to receive.
Not going to be able to get the personnel tried to change.
Get Gregory back out there and have to take a time-out.
Burn a time-out in a tough situation.
So time-out called with 7-30 to play here in the third.

They handle bugs and critters.
Tonight's game is brought to you by Breda Pest Management with Breda.
No need to be afraid of bugs.
Matt Stewart Wayne Gandy Jon Nelson with you.
7.5 minutes to play here in the third quarter.
And Douglas County is going to have to give it up as Boreas-Perez stays on after the time-out to punt.
Snap goes all the way back.
Everything done well.
Sky Ball Zachery retreating makes the fair catch at the 12 yard line.
Nellie, what you got?
I'm starting to get some finals trickling in and filling in brackets, and we'll go to 82.
Actually, Lincoln County goes from pillar to post.
They take region eight title.
They're low right in your bracket.
Try on.
Might be facing them in a couple of rounds.
Green County is the four they get early County, Early County and Lincoln County.
Right hand side of the bracket.
That's what folks are going to be looking at for the semis.
On the right hand side in 82, Matt.
Yep.
And remember folks, we will not be here next week.
Nobody will be anywhere next week.
It will be a bye for everybody before the playoffs start for the entire state on November 14th.
So two Friday nights from now.
The first round of the state playoffs.
First and ten Hotlzclaw is going to throw it out there to Wood.
Wood trying to get around the corner and does and goes down at the 20.
One about a yard short as it looks like where the spot it.
And we do have a flag down on the field at the line of scrimmage.
I think we're going to get a clipping here as the guard Bo Ball.
Offense half the distance to the goal.
Replay.
First off the field.
As he went with the play action up front.
Can't go low on a guy that's already engaged right there by Bo Ball.
As you can see the cut right there.
Tough to see in that angle.
So that spots it back at the six.
To miscues here for Carrollton in this second half.
You know they.
They have not been as sharp as they were in the first.
Quick snap that set up the safety.
And now bad penalty here to start this second drive.
Consequently they've been outscored 9-0 so far in this third quarter.
And they're ones 20 point lead is down to 11.
Wood gets the hand off right up the chute.
He goes and tackled at the 13 yard line.
Cam Wood still running aggressive behind his pads, bouncing off tackles, breaking tackles.
Nothing but impressed with that young man tonight.
Over 90 yards rushing.
Now Hotlzclaw goes to the air fires right there in the middle.
Off to the races is Peyton Zachary.
He is just a big play waiting to happen.
This is just great pass blocking by the offensive line.
This is the third read as you can watch Hotlzclaw.
He's looking down to the left.
He's going to his third read on the backside right there to Zachery, who seems to be making every big play they need to help this offense tonight.
Eight catches for 138 yards for Zachery as the play gets blown dead.
He came in with 40-9 catches and close to 600 yards receiving on the season.
Defense.
Five yard penalty remains first down.
And you alluded to it earlier.
Coach Joey King has described him as a mini Deebo Samuel inside and outside can play both, and he's just so effective coming out of that slot.
And when you get him the ball in open space like that, the YAC is coming.
The yards after the.
Catch.
Just a guy that knows how to get open.
He has the speed to go on the deep route, but he is most dangerous working underneath because of that quickness and elusive spirit that he has.
Gets it on the sweep.
Technically that will go in the books as a catch.
And now another flag is out.
Might have a late hit on Douglas County again.
Another late hit here at the end of this play.
Great job of pushing this play out to the edge.
Just nowhere to cut this ball up.
Zachery trying to bounce, trying to find a hole.
Good penetration by the D line.
And then just right here at the end you can.
See personal foul late hit defense 15 yards from the end of the run.
First down.
That's on Jamar Owens.
Another personal foul 15 yarder on Douglas County.
And that's what we discussed as far as the timing of some of those penalties right there.
After a beautiful defensive play.
They just have a bad penalty to give him great yardage.
Once again.
So first and ten ball at the 29.
Hotlzclaw clean pocket throws and it's caught.
Squirms out of the tackle.
Mosley down to the eight.
Great effort by Ryan Mosley.
You're wondering when the big receiver was going to get into action.
62, 210 headed to Georgia.
Good find, good pocket to throw from big strong.
As you can see right there.
It's going to take more than one man to pull him down.
Just fighting for the yards right there.
Is Mosley.
Committed to the Bulldogs over 34 other offers including Bama, South Carolina and A&M.
Quarterback run Hotlzclaw down to the seven.
Good job there.
By Semaj Flueylln staying home.
Understanding that that's what Mason Hotlzclaw can do.
He's a runner.
Big physical guy at that quarterback position.
I think you got to give a lot of credit to Joey King and the staff.
I mean, the buy in to convince a senior to be the backup to a freshman.
But you see, he's getting plenty of snaps.
It's not like he doesn't get to play, but just to convince either one of them, hey, you're going to play quarterback, but you're going to share the position.
You play under me, young man.
I can take you to big heights.
Right up the middle.
Kam Wood with his third touchdown of the night.
It's 33-16.
Kam Wood working magic inside this offensive line.
Doing a great job in their Wells.
Ball Sheffield.
Watch how the line moves those white jerseys back.
Look at this hole right here.
Matt.
I know one time in high school you could have carried that ball right through that hole there.
Matt.
Big hole.
Kam.
No no no actually I couldn't.
Big hole.
Great blocking up front there by that offensive line.
Just moving people back.
Vargas.
Patty good 34-16 Kam Wood what a night for Kam Wood 104 yards rushing and three touchdowns tonight.
Just a good job blocking the white jerseys.
Going back a walk in is what they call that right there by Kam Wood.
Just the vision.
The jump cut.
Just walking in not a white jersey in sight to stop him.
Rocking them to sleep I see you Kam Wood.
Six plays, 88 yards.
Kam Wood 14 carries, 100 and 4-3 touchdowns.
Tonight.
Your DBHDD new red ribbon 365.
Curriculum scoring drive.
Very impressed with Kam Wood.
This ability, his speed, his power.
58, 190 wherever he decides to go, somebody's going to get a special back.
When you talk about that kind of speed, just a football player.
Some guys are just football players.
You don't have to.
You can't put them in a box.
You just have to deal with it.
They can play football.
This young man can.
And so old school he's a senior just now getting his opportunity.
Remember back in the day it used to be you didn't play until you were a. Senior.
So very old school.
And Kam Wood making the most of his opportunity.
And really having a fabulous season here for the Trojans.
Nice answer there.
After that, safety by the Trojans getting that ball back and just driving it down, getting a break with that late penalty hit out of bounds.
But as I said, they continue to capitalize.
If you're going to give us 15 30 yards of penalties, they punch it in when they get in that red zone area.
So under five to go and work to be done here by the Tigers.
If they're going to get back in this game.
Huggins Carrollton.
So first and ten.
Lindley.
Up to the 30.
They've had no problem running the ball tonight.
Good job.
Good to see Ezra Jordan back in there.
He went off with some cramping.
But inside they've just been able to run this ball at will when they've given a chance.
Lindley again.
And Lindley going to get stonewalled at the line of scrimmage.
It's out there by Demetrius Carter young sophomore.
Great penetration.
Just plays with great leverage.
Hard to get under a man that's five, six.
Five.
Six as an offensive 1562 60.
They call him meatball.
It's hard to get underneath a man that's so far down.
I mean look how look how much shorter he is than those guys across the line of scrimmage.
You usually got that short.
You hit him and just push him down to the ground.
They're already there for you.
Playing that nose tackle position at a high level.
Ball quickly goes out to Mathis and Mathis gets driven out of bounds shy of the 40.
But a great freshman.
Jeremiah Mathis six one, 170.
Coach white says he's a special talent.
He's going to be the next star here at that position.
Already been offered by Florida State.
Got it.
And like I was telling you earlier, he is the brother of James Johnson, the four year star here for the Tigers who's now a freshman at USC.
Johnson backpedaling and throwing too much over the head of Gregory that time.
Nice break on the ball right there.
Taking that throw away.
Tyler Boyd just stepping up into that throw lane.
Not allowing in the drive that ball in there to Gregory as we've seen him do.
Just taking that away once again, this offense just stalling out.
Not able to convert on third down as Douglas County.
They're getting ready to encounter some very serious math here.
They're running out of time and possessions to get back in this game.
As we are now less than 16 minutes left in regulation.
Snap goes back to Boreas-Perez in traffic.
Ball hits off of Zachery, recovered by Douglas County.
Zachery got caught in a moment of indecision and rather than field the ball, let it hit in front of him.
Right there just at the end, deciding not to catch the ball.
You're right there, you fair catch the defense.
The coverage team has the pull up and just, a moment of mental lapse where he just didn't step in and catch the ball.
Kendrick Howard is there to recover it.
And this gives new life to Douglas County as they have it first and ten at the Carrollton 33.
Waiting for Carrollton to make a mistake.
And they make one right there and it might be a big one.
We'll see.
Perfect time here to try something over the top.
Big play.
Change of possession.
Try something.
Deep down the field.
They got trips up at the top of your screen instead going to hand off to Lindley.
Lindley runs through a big hole in the middle and down to the 20 1 yard line.
Hagan making the tackle from a safety position, but way down field after the Tigers had already picked up the first.
Great job there once again inside these two guards and and center.
Doing a great job moving bodies.
Lindley again, a good chunk right there.
Four or 5 yards on the carry.
Gamble making the tackle.
Zamarcus Lindley the three star.
But Coach White still feels like he's just under-recruited make a Kidd an offer type guy that's just going under the radar, and he's showing you a physicality and an explosion inside, carrying guys for two or 3 yards.
Second down, Lindley gets it again.
Little jump cut to the outside.
Out of bounds at the 25.
Yeah.
When I named my Matt Stewart sports high school Football podcast preseason team, I had him on my 6-A team.
I, I have thought now for the last couple of years that he is highly undervalued as a running back in this state.
Yeah, doing a great job here right there showing you the vision, the footwork to bounce that to the outside.
Real workhorse mentality has five, ten, 200 pounds.
So stick quick feet.
Third down and a first down.
Carry down to the nine yard line.
That was Ja’Narious Barney first carry of the night.
Picks up the first.
Born with a bigger back right here.
Getting downhill.
Coming off of that left side Sam-Epelle Ezra Jordan.
And we've talked about this team success when they've stuck to the run game.
Goes back to Barner.
Barner touchdown Douglas County cash in on the turnover by Carrollton to make it 34 22.
Just running the ball.
This team with this offensive line here just a red zone to the outside.
Big crease there between Chase Mideau Julius Dumas.
Following that offensive line right into the end zone.
Looks like they're going to line up and go for two here.
This would make it a ten point game.
If they're able to convert and Lindley is back in there.
Johnson flushed runs to the pylon.
Johnson gets there just in the nick of time before Barney could get there.
And there's two more for Douglas County and it's 34 24.
They're going to get a holding here on the left tackle.
Joshua Sam-Epelle here.
Big run right up the middle.
Good blocking by that offensive line inside.
And here on this two point conversion.
Just holding out on the edge.
On the offense ten yard penalty.
Previous spot.
Retry the down.
So do you still go for two.
And it looks like Coach White is going to dial it up here.
Tough situation Ten-yard penalty.
Now you're working from the 13.
To kind of takes away that.
I mean.
Michael Johnson ability to to make a run here.
He's going to have to throw this into the end zone.
Going on the fade and a jump ball and flag out Barney and Gregory continuing the battle that they've had all night.
And Barney gets flagged for the DPI.
Frustrations right there by.
Interference defense.
Half the distance to the goal.
Retry the point.
By Barney right there.
As you can see, Aaron Gregory initiated the contact, ran right into the chest of Barney and kind of pushed him off.
And as he tries to fight back into the play, gets called for the pass interference.
Like you pointed out earlier tonight, this is an SEC cornerback, wide receiver battle right there with Gregory committed to A&M and Barney committed to Ole Miss.
Third time for this two point conversion here.
Let you know how serious this is to get more balance and get this within ten for Douglas County.
Gregory goes in motion Johnson being chased by Helton.
Johnson throws jump ball incomplete trying to get the ball to Clowney.
And do we have another flag out?
On the offense points no good.
Decline.
So 34 22.
Let's check in with Nelly.
Three way tie at 5-1 They go to point differential on common opponents.
North Cobb is now your one seed.
North Paulding your two.
Marietta is your three.
That means that Marietta upper left goes to Harrison.
That goes to the winner of this game here.
Hillgrove goes to North Paulding as your two seed.
That's low left.
And then you also have Walton and McEachern.
That's your 41.
Paulding County is your four out of the region.
North Cobb is the one.
So North Cobb now gets to host and they're hosting Paulding County.
Region five is done more as we go Matt.
And for more high school football scores, scan the QR code right there.
It'll take you right to them.
Busy final Friday night of the regular season.
With the playoffs now starting two weeks from tonight.
So Douglas, down down 12 now down 12.
With 2 minutes to play here in the third quarter.
Still fighting as Douglas County once again a penalty affecting their ability to put points on the board in that situation.
And the kick coming down at the one and the return by Welch Rontre Welch.
There he goes.
Welch 99 yard kick return.
Touchdown!
His fourth kick return touchdown of the season, his third that has gone 99.
Coach Joey King told us when we talked to him that run trail.
Trey Welch was a dangerous returner right here.
And great job by the return team.
Blocking just a big cavity right there to run through.
Good block there.
To spring him and then just making a foot race.
The young sophomore just an explosive returner putting an impact on this game right there.
And let's give him the whole hundred.
Can we can we say he was at the the goal line.
Sure.
Vargas with the P.a.t and it is 41-22 So Carrollton gets it right back after the touchdown by Douglas County had his foot on the goal line, but he caught the ball in the field of play, so to speak.
Just a big alley right there to run through.
Good block.
There.
Getting the kicker out of the way.
And then just a foot race to the end zone by this young sophomore.
Wow what an explosive play here for Carrollton.
And they knew that they had lightning in a bottle.
That coming into the season.
Because Welch last year as a ninth grader returned 8-10 kicks against the first teamers in practice last year.
So they knew what they had.
And Welch has lit another fire here tonight with his fourth kick return touchdown of the season.
Real back breaker right there you go.
Down Douglas County you run the ball down the throat of Carrollton.
You get on the board, you stall out on the two point, but then you kick the ball out off and in a matter of seconds.
You're down to 19 points.
He is something else.
That just shows you how important it is to get the ball in the end zone against these.
This team, because if you don't Rontre Welch will do that to you.
Yeah.
Coach King made a point to make sure we made a note of that.
Kick comes down at the five return opportunity here for Douglas County and they can't do with it.
What Welch did with it.
Owens gets stopped at the 20 yard line, and this is where they miss Rah’Keith Kelly.
If you're just now tuning in, Rah’Keith Kelly one of the most dynamic players you know in offense and special teams, they lost him early to an injury and so they missed that in their kick return game tonight.
And now you have the speed up your process.
The clock starts to be your enemy.
If you're Douglas County.
Your main weapon is the ability to run the ball with Zamarcus Lindley and throw quick out on the edge.
Not in a rush, just have to speed up your process of moving the ball down the field.
Maybe take a couple of gambles.
We really haven't seen anything deep by this offense today.
Lindley gets stuck in the hole after a short gain.
That was Gamble coming up to make the tackle again.
CJ Gamble has had a productive night for the Trojans.
Challenged by the coaches.
They have an outstanding year and that's what he has done for this team.
He's the fire and passion inside.
Seven total tackles for Gamble tonight.
The Georgia Tech commit Johnson going to run it out of there.
And he gets dropped.
Nice textbook open field tackle by the Trojans.
As.
Aidan Rosemond the nickel came up and make the tackle number five.
Nice job getting off the block right there.
Rosemont Jeremiah Mathis giving up some size to him but getting off the block and making that play.
Another young sophomore contributing for Joey King.
Swings it out here to Lindley.
Makes Gamble miss.
Then Gamble comes back and makes the tackle.
Good job there.
Jay Hagan playing down in the box physical right there.
Two.
Hagan has had a really good night too.
Don't know if he'll get any credit for the tackle right there, but he slowed it down for Gamble to come back and make the tackle.
But Hagan has ten total tackles tonight.
Eight solo.
Another third and long right there.
Just not able to pick up.
And that's been one of the issues with this offense tonight.
Third downs.
They've just not been able to convert.
That is the end of the third quarter time.
Running out on Douglas County as Carrollton closes in on their 35th all time region championship.
They lead this 140 1:22 Half of the nation's opioid overdoses happen right at home because people don't understand the dangers of taking an oxy or perc with a glass of alcohol for stress or to sleep.

As we head to the start of the fourth quarter, Carrollton on top of Douglas County 41 22.
Let's check in with John Nelson.
All right, Matt, let's take the tour in 5-A.
We're starting to get some precincts reporting in there.
Thomas County Central wins tonight over coffee.
That means region two.
Number 1 is Thomas County Central.
They would be on a collision course with Woodward Academy.
Upper left.
As you go.
Clark central and coffee are low.
Right.
Coffee being the four seed Houston County leading Lee County.
Then to three matchup.
Remember Houston County loses.
They drop all the way to the three in two weeks.
Left hand side of the right hand side of the bracket Hughes wins tonight.
They're the one they host.
East Paulding.
Shiloh is the two out of region four.
Moore as we go.
All right.
Thank you Nelly.
And the punt by Boreas-Perez to start the fourth quarter.
This time Zachery does make the fair catch at the 40 1 yard line.
And that's where Carrollton will go on offense to begin this final period.
That's all about Carrollton executing, playing mistake free football here in this fourth quarter.
Running the ball, staying inbounds.
Keep the clock running.
Try to chew up some of this clock each and every possession that you get.
CJ Cypher in the game both quarterbacks handled switching in and out.
I think we're going to see a heavy dose of Cam Wood here in this fourth quarter.
Cam Wood the workhorse here tonight.
Haven't been a lot of guys carrying the ball here for the Trojans here in this game.
He has been the main guy carrying the workload here tonight.
Yeah they've had only two rushers in this game Wood and Hotlzclaw.
Cypher passes right there in the middle to Mosley and Mosley down to the 38.
Nice throw and catch there by Mosley.
Look.
Have a penalty.
Looks like we have a penalty here.
That might nullify this play.
Good throw and catch.
There.
To Aaron Gregory.
Excuse me to Ryan Mosley.
They both wear number.
Four.
And both of them are four star wide receivers.
Looks like Mosley.
Maybe a little shaken up coming out for a play.
Right there, down in distance.
Matt, you imagine they're getting away from the run game.
They've had a lot of success running the ball.
But in this drive, deciding after that first run with Cam Wood, they're going to throw the ball and just gifting time here to Douglas County.
You don't want to leave the door open even though it is a rather sizable 19 point lead right now.
You don't want to leave the door open.
And by not eating a lot of clock, you do that.
Now they go back to the air again.
Cypher setting up the screen pass, it goes to wood and nice open field tackle made by Dyce.
And it's going to be fourth down and not a lot of time eating off the clock right there.
As Carrollton going to have to kick it back.
Nice job of Dyce Reading this all the way right there.
He could see.
Kept his eyes on Cam Wood Reading that screen to the outside.
Good job making that tackle in the open field.
By Richard Dyce.
No confusion here by Carrollton.
Who's in and who's out.
Plenty of time to get this off.
Snap goes back to Vargas and he booms it out of there and kicks it away from Mathis this again, this would be Rah’Keith Kelly in the return game.
And they don't have that here tonight because Kelly got hurt.
And so the ball gets down to the 12 yard line and we'll step aside as the Tigers get ready to come back out on offense.

Douglas County comes back on offense with a long way to go.
A lot of points to make up, and a long field to go.
First and ten at their own 12 yard line.
Going to have to open up the offense here.
Try to get some deep shots here to get some chunk plays going.
Johnson fires off the hands of Gregory at the 22 yard line.
Good route.
Good throw there.
Just a drop by Gregory.
We have not seen Devin Carter in a long time.
You mentioned he's nursing that ankle injury.
And of course he was hurt the first four games of the season and did not play.
But he has only one catch here tonight.
Not out there right now either.
With the game on the line Johnson firing on the drag across the middle.
Incomplete.
It's going to be third down very quickly.
Great job right there.
Covering working underneath there by Tyler Boyd.
Talked about him a lot.
Lot tonight.
But young sophomore 511185.
And play at that free safety position as well as corner.
So third down and ten.
Johnson going to step up in the pocket and deliver.
Incomplete.
Going to Gregory again.
Incomplete.
Three straight incompletions.
It's fourth down.
Tight coverage there by Jay Hagan maybe getting a little pull on that waist on Gregory as he tries to come underneath here.
You can see him coming up taking Gregory just right there.
That right hand on the hip kind of spinning him away from the ball, but away from the official.
Couldn't see it.
So punting situation here for Douglas County as their chances of making a comeback here are dwindling with each passing second, these two teams will be matched up with region six teams in the first round of the state playoffs.
Both will have home playoff games.
The first round, by virtue of being the one or two seed, regardless of whether Douglas County comes back or not.
But right now, let's just use work under the assumption that Carrollton is going to win this game.
They have the lead.
They would be the number 1 seed and two Friday nights from now, they would be hosting what I believe it's going to be North Forsyth, North Atlanta got beat tonight.
North Forsyth pulled even with them in the standings for the number 4 seed.
And they win the tiebreaker.
So I believe Carrollton will end up hosting North Forsyth here at Grisham Stadium.
Two Friday nights from now.
And Douglas County will go in as the two seed unless they rally and win this game, and they will be hosting the three seed out of region six, which will be Lambert.
So Trojans back on offense.
And a new running back first time somebody other than Wood has carried the ball from the running back position.
That's Nick Archer.
Nick Archer young freshman 510 195.
That's spelled Wood a couple of times this year.
Came in the game with one rushing and one receiving touchdown.
You imagine they're going to keep this ball on the ground going with the hard count.
Looks like they're going to get Solomon Fabian with offsides.
On the defense.
Five-Yard penalty results in first down.
So if Carrollton holds on to win here and they are 9 minutes away from doing this, this will be their 35th all time region title.
Their fourth in a row, and their sixth in seven seasons.
It would also be the 18th perfect 10-0 regular season in program history.
Heavy Rush and Jordan Carter drops the quarterback.
Just nowhere to go with the ball right here for Hotlzclaw down the field, giving Carter enough time to come off the edge.
And initially good blocking there by Fielder plenty of time, just nowhere to go with the ball right there.
And finally getting home is Carter.
14th quarterback sack of the season for Jordan Carter.
This offensive line has done a good job tonight, holding up against Carter haven't called his name out a lot as far as rushing the passer.
Once again, interesting call.
Not keeping the ball on the ground, chewing up some clock.
I mean, really it would be more productive just to run the ball three consecutive times in game 2 yards and punt it back than to pass it here.
So time-out called and we'll take it with them.

Sir.
Hut.
You wouldn't take a call during the big game.

You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.
Jacket.
And you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.

Welcome back to Gregory Mideau two left.
We'll go ahead and use the R word because that's what we have left here in the season.
Regulation margins 19 at 41 22 a couple of finals.
Let me start in 5-A and we've got a bit of a Cinderella.
We do know what's going on in region seven right now.
Roswell is winning big late over Milton.
If that projects out.
Roswell obviously is the one out of region seven.
They would end up low left paired with Coffey and Clark Central.
Then that would mean that Gainesville would project out to be upper Right, East Paulding, Hughes, Gainesville, Winder-barrow then Milton would be the three low right with Shiloh.
That would be the first one in the QR code.
And get this second.
Matt makes it as a four seed.
They've got Woodward Academy in round number 1.
Hit that QR code.
People.
How about this.
And Nelly what are you going to do next year when you don't have the brackets to be able to look at like this?
Because next year we won't be able to know.
We won't know until after the dust has settled on the final Friday night, what the playoff matchups will be, because the postseason rankings will change with each passing game, including the last game of the regular season.
So you could look and say, well, maybe we'll be playing that team, but it could change overnight.
Literally.
Why do you want to bring math into this man?
They already did.
I didn't the the Georgia.
And Math do not agree.
And now you're telling me that I'm going to have to do math next year?
No, I mean, I don't I don't know, unless you're really smart.
You're just going to have to wait for the.
You'll just have to wait for the postseason rankings to come out after that final Friday night.
I will get my pocket protector and my compass and my slide rule and my abacus, and we'll have it all down on the field next, next season.
For the last regular season.
How about that?
Well, you're going to need it because you just won't be able to look at the brackets and be able to project based on region standings anymore.
And Nelly, I love it.
Valdosta by nine.
So Valdosta is the one seed out of region one in 6-A.
So Valdosta one.
Valdosta wins 23 14.
They are the 11 there in upper right.
That means Lowndes will be the two and Colquitt will be the three.
Yep.
So that means that your one as Valdosta, they are paired in the upper right bracket with Brookwood, McEachern and Walton.
You could have if chalk works its way through McEachern to get out of your to get out of your quadrant upper right, then you would have as your two seed that would be Lowndes.
Lowndes would have a second round matchup at North Gwinnett.
If chalk goes, then they would also be in the Hillgrove.
North Paulding, low left and then you would have.
We're waiting for Colquitt County and Richmond Hill to figure out the three and the four.
So Colquitt would be the three if they win.
Same for Richmond Hill as Richmond Hill would be 3-2 and you get the tiebreaker.
But right now Wintersville classic Valdosta, the one Lowndes is your two.
Colquitt the three.
What happened in the Mill Creek Buford game.
That would be Buford.
So Buford is the one and Mill Creek is the two.
That means in the first round, Colquitt County will be coming north to play at Mill Creek.
Two Friday nights from now.
353 was the final score.
Mill Creek had a 3-0 lead, by the way, and lost 35-3 Collins Hill won 42-7 against discovery, so they finish up at 4-2 and Dacula is the four seed out of region eight, finishing at 3-3 and 5-5.
Because they beat Central Gwinnett last night.
Yeah.
So Colquitt County at Mill Creek in the first round.
I'm just saying that's kind of sounds like a a potential GPB sports Football Fridays in Georgia.
Definitely sounds like something we should be at.
But we'll wait and see.
Official announcement will come this weekend.
Just follow us on social media or check out our website.
We'll make our announcement where we will be in the first round sometime this weekend.
If they keep passing the ball, Wayne, we won't get out of here until 1:00 A.M.. I'm not sure what the the purpose.
I mean, both of these quarterbacks have played a lot.
They're ready for the playoffs.
Looks like they're going to decline the penalty a little rollout.
Trying to get the ball out on the edge.
Yes sir yes sir.
Personal foul face mask on the defense 15 yard penalty.
Previous spot.
Results are first down.
So that becomes our 31st penalty called tonight 15 on Douglas County 16 on Carrollton.
And we will now go north of.
Let's see.
We'll be up around I think 270 yards in penalties tonight.
Put it this way.
We've had nearly as many penalty yards tonight as we've had rushing yards.
And now here, third and two.
Cam Wood back in the game.
You imagine that.
This is a play where Mason Hotlzclaw is very dangerous.
Running the ball.
Penalty number 32.
Five-Yard penalty.
Still third down.
So they know they did call a penalty.
Yes.
Penalty number 32.
Now this pushes some to third and seven.
Typically you would like to think that this late in the season they've got the penalties out of the way.
But that has not been the case tonight.
Wood gets the handoff and Cam Wood does not get the first down.
It's going to bring up fourth down.
Get stopped at the 36.
And now will you keep the offense out here and try to convert this.
Fourth and short and keep this drive going.
So you can keep the clock moving.
Yes.
And it looks like that's what Coach King is going to do here.
That's what I would do.
That's what Joey King is going to do.
Fourth down and three.
A lot of white jerseys stacking the line expecting run.
They give it to cam Wood woods got the first down crosses the 30 Wood down inside the ten.
Touchdown.
He never went out of bounds.
Fourth touchdown of the night for Cam Wood.
Great blocking up front.
The speed to get to the corner.
And then just the athleticism the tip toe.
Good pull there.
Zykie Helton out on the edge.
Good blocking down the field by Peyton Zachary.
And then just the type rope act there by cam Wood to get in the end zone.
What a performance by cam Wood tonight.
17 carries 149 yards four touchdowns.
P.a.t is good.
48 22.
Cam Wood another big touchdown run as Carrollton is putting the finishing touches on yet another region championship.

This is what happens when you're trying to get scores.
You need a third hand.
By the way.
6:18 to go regulation the margins now up to 26 trying to figure out what's going on in region five.
5-A Rome with a big win tonight over New Manchester.
They are the region champ.
Therefore they go low right.
So you'll have Rome, Milton and Shiloh low right.
When it comes to region five, checking out the tiebreaker for New Manchester and Billerica, the winner of that tiebreaker is the two.
Loser is the three.
East Paulding is the four.
East Paulding gets used in the opening round, still waiting to find out what happened with Colquitt County and with Richmond Hill to figure out that or the three and the four in region one and 6-A Moore as we go.
And I'm going to see if my phone is damaged and I have to go get another one.
Matt.
Nellie getting used in the first round, is that supposed to be a reward or a punishment?
I mean, look, East Paulding, they go 4-3 in region 6-4 on the season.
Great season for East Paulding.
Look, you get into the playoffs.
It's the same thing we said about Seckinger.
Seckinger gets in for the first time ever.
Yes.
It's going to be a tough first round matchup for them against Woodward.
But you're in the playoffs.
You see what happens.
You get to build.
There you go.
Nice positive attitude there Nellie I like it 612 left in the regular season.
And Carrollton at this point have close to put this one away.
Like I said earlier, this will be the 18th 10-0 regular season in Carrollton history and it'll be the third time in five seasons they've done it under Joey King.
They've become one of the brand names of the state here as Carrollton.
You mentioned them and other people come out.
They understand that Carrollton plays great football over here, great environment, great stadium, and this team is showing that they are poised to make a run to the Benz.
Again.
They were in the bins last year, lost to Grayson as Cam Anderson the freshman, is now in there.
Quarterback for Douglas County.
A little quick screen out on the edge.
Young freshman Cam Anderson going to be a special quarterback and coach White's eyes.
Second down and ten with Anderson in there at quarterback.
So kind of the white flag going up here for Douglas County as they've kind of come to the realization they're playing for another day.
But Carrollton is one of the true blue bloods in the state.
They've won seven state championships, but they have not won one since 1998.
They've been in 15 state finals.
This will be their 35th region title tonight in their fourth straight.
And as I mentioned, 18 now 10-0 regular seasons.
And the stadium and field were playing on and at tonight named after the legendary coach Charlie Grisham, who won 261 games and five state titles as the head coach of the Trojans.
So third down, incomplete.
Out on the edge, now.
Fourth down.
Three straight passes here with the young freshman Cameron Anderson who hasn't been in the game all night and looks like are they going to keep the off.
No.
They're going to punt this in this situation.
So we start looking ahead to the playoffs.
And of course the interesting twist to the playoff format this year and the schedule format is we're going to get that bye week.
Next Friday night.
So no teams will be in action in the state.
Some teams have already finished their regular seasons.
They did that last week.
So for those teams they're going to have two off weeks before they play in the playoffs.
That will be interesting to see this late in the season, to have that much time off.
Yeah, having that much time for an athlete, a football player, you get out of a groove, out of a mindset, starts becoming about getting by the time you get back into a groove.
We're in the middle of the third quarter and down on the scoreboard.
A good week off, definitely for like a Douglas County team, you can get Devin Carter healthy.
Rah’Keith Kelly anyone can, you know is great, but to have two weeks off really?
Can you see it all the time?
Especially for bowl season for college.
It's just such a long break.
It's almost not the team that you saw the last time you saw him on the field, and even in the pros, a lot of teams don't like that two week bye.
And the kick is blocked and it's still rolling around back there.
No one will touch it.
And finally Douglas County gets on top of it.
That thing got blocked.
It didn't go backwards, but it got blocked forward.
And I think that was Boyd Tyler Boyd, the cornerback who blocked it.
Douglas County did get on top of it, but this is going to be Carrollton ball.
And they're having some discussion about right here.
So watch Boyd number 6 come in there and block it.
They've done this all season long.
They really pride themselves on their special teams.
Yeah.
No doubt that.
Boyd.
Are they thinking maybe it hit Spratling there, but the ball did not hit any Carrollton player?
No.
So yeah.
So it's going to be Carrollton ball at the 23.
What a rough night for those guys.
Coach white said it at halftime.
Just a game where Douglas County when they have issues it's usually that they're beating themselves with penalties or lack of execution.
And that happened here tonight in Carrollton.
Run right up the middle there by Nick Archer getting some time now replacing Cam Wood who had an amazing night here with his Carrollton team.
Dominant performance by him.
Under 5.5 to go here as Carrollton closes in on the region title and a number 1 seed coming out of region two in the state playoffs.
This falling forward trying to pick up the first down.
If you're Nick Archer ball security, this is all about keeping the clock moving.
You don't need any more points to win this game.
Oh, but trust me, they'll try to score some more right here.
Hand off goes right there in the middle and down to the ten yard line.
That'll get him the first down.
Nick Archer again on the carry.
So in this final year of the predetermined brackets, we can look ahead and we can see that Carrollton, by virtue of being the number 1 seed out of this region, is on a collision course to perhaps have a state championship rematch against Grayson in the quarterfinals.
Warm the busses up.
Let's get that on the schedule.
What a game that would be.
For those two programs to meet Grayson having an outstanding year, blowing out people in the competition.
And I think looking at this game tonight for Douglas County taking on Carrollton, maybe it was a little question, maybe Carrollton, as you said, went under the radar, maybe hadn't played enough tough, tough competition.
But what they did here tonight, physically being able to dominate this game, running the ball and then defensively just getting after this Douglas County team.
Well, I mean, Carrollton was 4-0 against top ten opponents this year.
They beat Woodward Academy.
They beat Rome.
They beat Gainesville.
The difference is all three of those top tens were 5-A schools, not 6-A.
Not that that really matters to me.
There's not a big difference between the best teams in 5-A and 6-A, and then they beat the number 7 team out of Alabama, defending state champions Parker.
So third down.
They're going to bring the heavy package back in.
Spratling is in the game.
Hotlzclaw Mitchell quarterback.
Yep, time-out is going to be called.
By Douglas County.
So be following us on our social media platforms.
Twitter Facebook Instagram of course on our website GPB sports.
And that's where you'll find out where we will make the announcement for our first round playoff matchup and where we will be two Friday nights from now.
But again, Grayson and Carrollton in this current format on a collision course to meet in the quarterfinals and this will be the last year we have the coin tosses to next year will be strictly based on the seedings based on the PSR.
The postseason rankings put together by the GHSA.
But for this year, we will have coin tosses.
So if indeed that Grayson Carrollton matchup materializes in the quarterfinals, it'll be up to a coin toss to decide who the home team is, how retro.
How I was about to say, how old school.
Friday Night lights.
Why don't they.
Just play.
Rock.
Paper.
Scissors or.
Play bull in the ring or something, right?
But that's the way they do it.
For one more.
Year, pick a number 1-10.
Right here on the goal line.
Package in for Carrollton.
Looks like they.
It is third down.
So they're not trying to run the score up.
Just running the offense.
Hotlzclaw going to run it into the end zone for the touchdown.
Cherry on top for the Trojans.
And it's 54-22 Great execution.
Big hole right here off the left side.
Little jet sweep action to pull the defense out.
And then Mason Hotlzclaw part his two quarterback system.
More of the runner getting in the end zone.
So now after you've watched close to 48 minutes of this two quarterback system of Cypher and Hotlzclaw, what do you think?
I'm always skeptical when I read about it, but now that we've seen it in person, it works.
And like Joey King when he was on my podcast earlier this year and I asked him about it, he said, if it if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Yeah, they seem to be going with a true two quarterback system where it's series, the series.
It's not just about whether you had the hot hand.
I know coach mentioned that a little bit, but tonight it seemed like this team is very confident in either one of these guys and what they bring to the field.
And it's hard on a defense when you have two guys of this caliber that brings two different styles to the field that you have to adjust on the fly to play against.
So as you said, Hotlzclaw a three star willing to be behind a young freshman who seems to have all the potential in the world.
Cypher is going to be even Joey King said, look, by the time he's a senior, he's going to be at the highest tier among the nation's quarterbacks.
And you can imagine that starting next year, based on how this season goes, Cypher will be the main guy.
You probably won't see him in that two quarterback system once.
Hotlzclaw, but this has worked perfect in both of these guys, have handled it in a way where you didn't see any lag or frustration from them.
I saw him in warm up.
They were close knit group and they know they have something special here.
That's amazing.
Hotlzclaw moved in.
Their family moved in to the Carrollton area in January.
He's from South Carolina and he had actually reclassified last year.
He was going to go to college early, but then he changed his mind and decided, I'm going to play another year of high school football.
And they moved here.
And he said, look, we had they had plenty of opportunities to go places, plenty of programs promised.
You can come here and be our number 1 quarterback.
Carrollton did not promise him that.
Joey King promised you can come here and compete for the job, and Mason Hotlzclaw in their family was like, that's what we're looking for.
We want to compete for the job.
We don't want to be given the job.
And so, you know, it's the perhaps to me, the most impressive thing is that they made the two quarterback thing work.
I mean, it's the hardest position, I think, to split between two players because whoever the quarterback is out there at the time thinks they should be out there all the time.
Yeah, the personalities definitely have to gel and be willing to make that sacrifice.
And the thing you saw tonight is the offense really doesn't change much.
Both quarterbacks, as we talked about Hotlzclaw, runs a little more.
So you can bring that aspect in as more of a dual threat.
But the receivers, the players, they all interact in the same kind of way regardless of who's in there.
And a great problem to have is to have two quarterbacks that at any moment can take over the game.
Yeah.
And as I reflect back on this game and you and I called this game, we've watched it for the last three plus hours.
You know, I was impressed with both I can't think oh, well, I like this guy a little bit better than the other.
I liked them both.
I thought they both were effective.
And we don't have a snap count, but I bet by the end of the night they're going to be pretty even on their snap count on how many snaps each one of them got.
Yeah, just bringing a different aspect and confusing the defense, but both of them have great arms, make good decisions.
Both came into the game Cypher with two interceptions.
Hotlzclaw with one.
So they're good and make great decisions.
Good size can move around in the pocket.
And if you Hotlzclaw what a place to land in with a coach like Joey King, who has really has been able to groom some great quarterbacks at the high school level.
Another whistle.
I know you're surprised by that.
Stops the clock with a buck 40 to play.
We're slowly getting there, folks.
Five penalty previous spot remains third down Ackey.
So here's the question I posed to you and I. It was in my game preview this morning.
Could it be that Carrollton, after three years of one of the best quarterbacks in the entire country, and we all love juju.
We love to watch him play.
We were always excited when we got a chance to see him play.
This is not an indictment or anything negative about juju, but could they?
The year after juju leaves, win the state championship without him?
Yes.
He looked like a more complete team.
They're not counting on one person to do all the work.
And not just from the quarterback.
It just seems like all the players seem like they understand they have a purpose to go out and play and provide something to the team to win and the spotlight.
Sometimes it is better to go without the spotlight shining on you as juju.
He brought more pressure that things had to go a certain way.
A certain amount of passes, yardage, points.
Whereas this year you're just able to go out and play football.
I love juju, we really enjoyed watching juju play the last three years.
I hated it when he reclassified and skipped his senior year and went to college, but I understood it.
I knew it was the best thing for him and good for him.
And I hope things open up for him and he plays more college ball than he's gotten a chance to play this year at Colorado.
But I agree with you.
They might be across the board, more of a complete team, and they were really good.
Make no bones about it.
They were really good last year, but they might be.
It'll be interesting to see.
We're about to find out over the next five weeks.
And you feel like the offense is a little more balanced.
It seems to have a little more balance to it.
The ball moves to different people in different points.
And sometimes, you know that one superstar is the heavy, is the head that wears the crown.
Juju brought a lot of excitement to the field, and we thought from day one we saw him as a freshman that he was going to dazzle.
And he did his whole career.
But this Carrollton team seems to be locked in.
And remember, a lot of these guys.
Zachery Mosley.
They're Helton.
That's that's his class.
And that's why we were so on it.
That's his class.
They would have all been seniors this year if he hadn't reclassified.
Approaching the final minute.
And an anticlimactic into this region two 6-A championship game as Carrollton much like they did last year, put the pedal to the metal in the second half and pulled away and wins it big.
Yeah, what was really impressive is just how they capitalized on situations.
It was not you know, we saw that they didn't have the ball as much in the first half, but when they got in a scoring position, they punched the ball in and put points on the board.
Second down.
The ball.
Might have time for one more play.
All right.
Let's check in with John.
From 51 yards out with 0:42 to go.
Balint Vörösmarty nailed it.
Roswell 41, Milton 39.
Wow.
Match race to figure out which one ends first.
Ours or theirs?
How about Vörösmarty?
That's the final play of the game right here.
Carrollton the region two 6-A champions with an emphatic 55 22 win over Douglas County as the Trojans run the table in the regular season and finish 10-0 heading into the playoffs and the region champs at 4-0 and Douglas County drops to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the region.
Next up, the first round of the state playoffs.
Two Friday nights from now.
A complete team victory here tonight for Carrollton special teams offense, defense.
Oh.
Now we got got a fight breaking out in the middle of the field.
You don't want to see this because both of these teams are in the playoffs.
Yeah.
You don't.
Want you don't want to have a player kicked out for the next round or the first game of the playoffs.
Looks like the coaches are separating the players now.
Unfortunate that they couldn't go through the handshake line.
In a civil manner.
Looks like they've gotten the team separated.
And you see the coaches Joey King and Johnny White hugging.
Those guys are good friends.
And, you know, the players are kids.
And the the emotions get the best of them.
An emotionally charged game here tonight.
I mean, especially in that first half.
And I think you see Johnny coming over just to make sure that there's no hard feelings.
And there you see Jordan Carter stepping in there.
Devin Carter stepping in there.
Shaking hands with Joey King Aaron Gregory.
There's the region championship trophy goes to the Carrollton Trojans for the fourth consecutive year.
And time now for our postgame coach's interview.
It's brought to you by Johnny's New York style pizza.
Your original neighborhood pizzeria.
Fourth straight region championship.
And it's another great season for you through season two.
I know that you're looking towards season three and finishing six weeks from now, 6.5, seven weeks from now with a state championship.
But this is another step in that direction.
It is, you know, our focus is going 1-0 we won the first of two championships that we want to play for and win here.
And and super proud of our guys.
The way they fought the whole game.
You know we got a bunch of guys in there.
Just love football.
What did you talk to them about as dominant as you were in that first half.
What did you talk to him about?
To try to button some things up in the second half.
I told him to be who we are, and then I told our senior class, I think they had a chance to leave here as having the most wins of any senior class in the regular season in the history of Carrollton football.
Tonight's the 400th game at Grissom Stadium, and they had the opportunity to do that.
So super proud of them for being able to do that.
So then now you've got a week two weeks to kind of figure things out and study hall and all that kind of stuff.
How do you keep the momentum from tonight to get you into that game?
11 to get you forward through games 11 through 15?
Now we got we got a hungry bunch.
I don't know that it's got anything to do with any momentum from tonight.
Tonight's touchdowns don't win next week's games you know.
So it's just about those guys being hungry and having that never say die attitude and continuing to press forward through the playoffs.
One more for you.
I want to talk about your offensive line and the holes that they created tonight.
Obviously cam is our player of the game for scores for him.
Talk about those big ones up front.
For you.
Yeah, the run game ended up being really good for us.
They were physical.
We were physical at the point of attack.
Moving those double teams out of there and giving cam some room to run.
So I can't say enough about how those guys played.
Congratulations, Joey.
Thanks for hanging out with us.
Thank you.
Go Trojans.
Joey King fourth region title in a row.
He has gotten it done once again here as numerology was squared away.
400th game here at Grisham Stadium.
Carrollton comes out on top by 33.
Matt.
Indeed.
How about that?
They've now won 20-1 straight region games dating back to 2021.
They've won 16 straight at home and overall they've won 20-4 of their last 25 games.
Impressive.
Wayne 10-0 regular season finish.
And they head back into the state playoffs as a number 1 seed.
And I like how coach referenced that.
They are hungry group.
They're going to put this behind them.
Have a short memory, move on.
They wrapped up the region, but this senior class with all those wins and not to be able to put a trophy up to go along with him, kind of is something they still have a goal to do.
All right.
Let's send it back down to John.
And we will, as we are traditionally.
Do we always like to catch up with our Georgia Cotton Commission player of the game, the Georgia Cotton Commission, the natural choice for Georgia.
This will be one of the few times where I get to wear the hat for a change.
I think as long as it'll stay on my head.
So let's do this.
So it.
Oh, that was close anyway.
All right, so towel here.
There we go.
Daryl, one more time here in the regular season Georgia Cotton Commission towel and the hat.
Go to cam Wood.
For obvious reasons, four scores north of 150 yards on the night.
And we will make sure that this works.
Works its way inside to catch up with him.
And you know, Matt and Wayne, when you look at a performance like this.
That's why I wanted to ask that last question to Joey about the offensive line, where it was clear in a lot of holes.
And then there was the fourth down conversion late also, that sticks in my head, where he skips it to the outside and his speed gets him to the corner, gets him to the end zone.
Great control there at the end as well for that last touchdown.
But yeah, you got the big guys clearing the way for cam for scores on the night.
Dominance here at Grisham Stadium on the ground.
What did you think about Cam Wood 17 for 149 officially.
And those four touchdowns.
Complete back.
He's one of the best performances we've had from that position.
This season.
Run between the tackles.
The speed to get to the outside, the explosion after the cut, the footwork.
Just a great job by the O-line.
And Cam Wood.

You wouldn't take a call during the big game.
Oh hey what's up man?
You wouldn't be texting while cheering on your team.
Jacket.
And you definitely wouldn't want to watch a video while marching with the band.

So when you get behind the wheel, put the distractions aside, drive hands free, and save lives.

You've seen what your electric cooperative can do for your home, your workplace, your weekend.
What lights us up is empowering your local community and economy.
Georgia's EMCs support 15,000 jobs and invest $16 billion in infrastructure annually.
And because we operate at cost, any extra revenue is reinvested into your co-op or return to members investment with impact.
That's the electric cooperative difference.
Georgia's EMCs so much more than electricity.
I said I never joined.
Never knew I was strong, I was.
Joining the Navy.
Sounds crazy.
Saying never actually is.

He's not avoiding contact, he's looking for contact.
