- Hi, I'm Keith Silva, storyboard supervisor on "Let's Go Luna".
Today I'm gonna show you how to draw Luna the Moon.
Let's do it.
(fun upbeat music) So the first step with Luna is, as you know, she's pretty much a circle.
So you wanna start with that big circle of hers, like so.
And it's not a perfect circle so if you can't draw a perfect circle, don't worry about it.
It's kind of a bit of a squished circle.
Next you wanna do her eyes.
So her eyes are sort of like vertical ovals.
So you draw one there.
And draw a second one next to it.
Then you wanna decide where she's looking so you put little dots for her pupils, here.
We'll have her lookin' right at us.
And next you wanna give her eyelashes.
Three eyelashes on the outside of her eyeballs.
Then eyebrows.
Next you wanna move to her nose.
And her nose is kinda like half a hot dog that points down, just like that.
So the next part, my favorite part of Luna, is her smile so you wanna do a mouth here.
Now if you just wanna give her a smile you can stop there and go to the next step but if you wanna give her a nice, big open mouth smile, like if she's talking or laughing, you take the bottom from the corner here and connect it down.
And then you give her teeth and her teeth are just one line.
And then two more lines for her tongue.
She's giving a nice, big open mouth smile there.
Next you wanna do her arms or hands so let's give her a little space for an arm.
Two lines for the arm.
And then her hand, start with the thumb.
And then an index finger, middle finger and pinky.
Then you wanna do her second one.
Let's give her a little wave here.
Two lines, much like the smile lines, very similar.
And then you're gonna start with the thumb, index finger, middle and pinky.
Now we'll go to her legs.
Her legs are very similar to her arms, where they're two parallel lines.
So that's one leg and the second leg and then her big boots, her big, red boots.
So it's one horizontal line that meets the legs and then two vertical lines that are wider than the legs so she can fit her feet in.
And then a pointy boot at the end of it.
And the same thing on the other side.
Just like that.
Next we're gonna wanna go to her hat.
Luna loses her hat sometimes but she always finds it in the end.
So then we'll do the brim of the hat and then on top of her hat, just kind of like a square that's a little rounded on the top.
Can't have Luna's hat without her ribbon so you put a little line about two-thirds the way down on the top of the hat.
And then the most fun part of the ribbon, just sort of like a soft S. Do the same thing on the bottom.
And then connect those with a little arrow shape.
And the last thing for Luna is her spots or craters, 'cause the moon has craters.
So you wanna do a few on the back here.
So that's like a C shape and then a circle here.
Maybe a little smaller circle there.
And then you wanna do maybe a couple down here.
And a couple there.
Now the last thing we do for all of our characters, for any character you draw for "Let's Go Luna" is you wanna put a shadow underneath them so that they look like they're standing on the ground.
And the shadow's really fun and really easy.
It's just a squiggly line, kind of like you're scribbling, on either side there.
And there you have it, Luna the Moon.
And then, as I always do, sign your work when you're done.
(fun upbeat music)
