What do you think?
Do I look like a king?
(male #2) I think so.
You look great, your majesty!
Well, hello!
Hello, Mr. Chuck!
Friends, I'd like you to meet Sandy Kozik.
Sandy is an actor who helps children learn to have fun using their imagination.
Pleased to meet you.
I see you've been having fun with the trunk.
We certainly have.
Thank you.
It's my dress up trunk.
I like to have fun pretending (Sandy) to be different people.
You know what else I like to do?
What?
I like to dress up and make up stories about the clothes I'm wearing.
(Sandy) Do you want to give it a try?
Sure.
What do I do?
I'm going to make up a story about a king and a chef, so you sit over there on the bench and you look real regal and I'll tell the story.
♪♪♪ Sounds like fun.
♪♪♪ (Sandy) Once upon a time there was a king.
The king liked many things like reading and playing checkers.
But the thing he liked best was eating and when he ate, he only liked one thing.
Pepperoni pizza.
Thin, crispy crust.
Sauce, cheese, and pepperoni.
Lots and lots of pepperoni.
The king even like it cold for breakfast!
One night after supper, the royal chef, that's me, discovered there was a problem.
The person who made the sauce sent a note that said she had run out of tomatoes and couldn't make any more sauce.
And what was worse, the cheese maker sent a note saying that the milk had gone sour and they couldn't make any more cheese.
And what was even worse, the butcher who supplied the pepperoni sent a note saying there was no pepperoni left anywhere in the kingdom.
There was only the dough for the crust.
And a few odds and ends lying around on the kitchen shelf.
"Oh no!"
I thought.
I can't make pepperoni pizza with just crust!
This is terrible!
This is serious.
I could lose my job!
Or even my head!
Ohhhh.
(Sandy) I stared at the dough and thought and thought and thought about the problem.
I know, I'll make something wonderful to eat that looks just like pepperoni pizza.
Maybe the king will take a bite and like it before he notices the difference.
So I went to work.
I worked all through the night to come up with something that tasted great, but looked just like pepperoni pizza.
[rooster crowing] By morning, I was done.
I sure hope this works.
♪♪♪ (Sandy) I held my breath as the king took his first bite.
And then a second, and a third.
The king smiled.
♪♪♪ This is the best pepperoni pizza I've ever had.
I don't think you've ever used this recipe before, have you?
No, sire.
It's a new recipe.
It's very good.
I hope you'll make it like this again sometime.
Well yes, sire.
I certainly will.
(Sandy) After the king finished his breakfast, I told him the truth.
That what he had eaten and liked so much was not pepperoni pizza afterall.
He was surprised, but he wasn't angry.
He was glad to learn that there are many other foods that taste just as good as pepperoni pizza.
He was also interested to know that eating a whole bunch of different kinds of food is much healthier than eating only one thing all the time.
In fact, he gave me this medal.
By now, you probably want to know how I made pepperoni pizza without any sauce, cheese, or pepperoni.
Well, that's my little secret, but if you use your imagination I'll bet you can think of your own recipe.
That was fun.
It's fun to play dress up.
It sure is.
But you know, Sandy, changing the way we look doesn't change who we are underneath.
Sandy, thanks for sharing your dress up clothes with us.
I hope you'll come back soon.
Oh, I've enjoyed it, Mr. Chuck.
