Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(upbeat music) - My name is Patrick Glander, and I'm a recent graduate of the Italia program at great lakes Academy of fine art in Duluth, Minnesota.
So I was just finishing up my four years at the Academy.
And then the coronavirus happened, Jeff Larson, my teacher was like, well you should probably take a break for awhile.
So, it was a really good experience.
We had to go home and figure it out and keep painting.
The paintings on the ends, the drill and the, circular saw are in my closet, in my basement.
(laughter) They're things that my dad or my grandfather gave to me.
I'm kind of drawn to old crusty stuff.
(laughter) I think the paintings in this building work because uh, this is a place of craftsmanship you know?
People come here to learn historic working methods, you know?
Uh, they want to make not only functional, but beautiful stuff.
You could have painted these a lot of different ways but all my classmates and whatnot were were focused on the, the craftsmanship behind it, and that's, I think that's what this dovetail cafe is is kind of like, so I think it works here.
