(upbeat music) - The EBC Winter Food and Clothing Drive supports Crossroads Urban Center's increasingly vital services and holiday outreach.
Glenn Bailey shares how the community can help this year.
Hi, Glenn.
- Hi.
- Thanks so much for being here.
- Thanks for having me again.
- I know the need's gotta be just skyrocketing right now.
- Yeah, unfortunately it is.
We are as busy as we've ever been, and that's before some of the impacts we're seeing from the situation in Washington.
So like, just the other day, I saw the biggest line we've ever seen at our downtown food pantry, so it's a time of really acute need.
- Oh, yeah, and I hope the community is stepping up.
I mean, as you say, every year you need it not just during holidays, but year round, but now it's really become kind of- - Yeah.
- Vital.
- People are.
Yeah.
We are getting more donations, more calls, more people are making donations online, that sort of a thing, so people are trying to respond, absolutely.
Yeah, we have a very generous community that values what we do.
- Oh, that's so great.
And I know the food drive coming up here, the EBC will likely get a lot more people.
We have a lot of people who are ready to step up.
- Yeah.
And we can sure use it.
All the food and clothing that we get through that drive is very valuable to us.
- Yeah, and tell me specifically again what people should be bringing.
- Well, it's kind of geared up as a holiday food drive, so holiday food, certainly, you know, turkeys, all the different sides, but any kind of food, really, because we have two food pantries that are running at beyond capacity, and we could sure use canned goods of any kind, any kind of non-perishable food items, also warm clothing, blankets, coats, things like that, that help people get through the winter are super valuable.
And we get really good donations along those lines from this drive.
- That's great.
Well, I'm so glad you're doing what you do, and you're so valuable to this community.
So thank you for being here.
- Well, thank you.
- And if you'd like to know more how you can get involved and help out during the Eccles Broadcast Center's Food and Clothing Drive, it will be December 12th from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
