Bill would require registration and insurance for low-speed electric bikes

Members of more than 40 organizations gathered Wednesday to protest a bill that would require strict regulations for e-bikes in the state. The bill, sponsored by Senate President Nick Scutari and Sen. Vin Gopal, would require low-speed electric bikes and scooters to be registered with the Motor Vehicle Commission, ban unregistered e-bikes and scooters and require owners to have insurance coverage.
