(upbeat music) - We hope you'll bring food and clothing items to help Utah's families in need at this year's Eccles Broadcast Center's Winter Food and Clothing Drive.
Glenn Bailey with Crossroads Urban Center is here with all the important details.
Hi, Glenn, welcome back.
We were just saying we've been doing this for so many years, we can't count them.
- Yeah, I don't remember, probably 35 at least.
- At least, yeah, and it's such a great thing to do, and why don't we talk first about the need, because every year I'm sure the need goes up.
- Yeah, and it's been very dramatic since we've come out of the pandemic.
We're feeding with our two food pantries, 10,000 people a month.
- [Mary] Wow.
- And helping like 2,200 folks a month, families, with stuff from our thrift store for free.
So, it's been pretty dramatic and it just seems to keep going up.
- Wow, so, which is why the community can really step in and help, and tell us about the items you're hoping people bring.
- Yes, well, for the Eccles Broadcast Center Drive, we're really hoping for holiday food, of course.
Anything that you would normally put in your own holiday meal, warm clothing, blankets, we really need blankets right now, but also non-perishable foods of all kinds, because we do run a food pantry, two food pantries every single day and everything helps.
- Yeah, and I know that's the thing we always have to remind people of.
I mean, it's not just the holidays there's a need, it's year round, so.
- Yes, we try to do something special during the holidays, but we're feeding people every day, and we can really use whatever help people can offer.
- Yeah, which really, and I know people love to come to this.
I was just talking to someone yesterday said, "Where can I take my things?"
I said, ah, the Food and Clothing Drive.
- Yes, the volunteers make it super easy.
All you have to do is pull up and they'll unload for you, and it's a great event.
We look forward to it every year.
- Yeah, and I know there are a lot of people who make it an annual tradition, so.
- Yes.
- Yeah, so thank you so much for what you're doing in the community.
Thank you.
- Well, thank you and everybody here at the Broadcast Center for helping out.
- Great.
And if you'd like to know more about how you can help out at this year's Winter Food and Clothing Drive, it's December 6th from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM at 101 Wasatch Drive, just drive through.
