(bright music) - Emerald Hills Institute's Multicultural Ethnic Dance Festival is a celebration of diversity.
Board member, Maddie Scott is here with all of the event details.
Welcome.
Maddie.
- Thank you for having me.
- Thanks for being here.
Well, let's start off by talking a little bit about the institute.
Can you share what it's about?
- Yeah, Emerald Hills Institute is a nonprofit based right here in Utah, and we try to build community by bringing people together from diverse backgrounds and to celebrate that, and we just really want to build inclusivity in our community.
We do that through arts, humanities, education programs, and a lot of service.
- Now, let's dive into the festival.
It's the 21st annual Multicultural Ethnic Dance festival.
But is this the first time Emerald Hills is organizing it or putting it on?
- Yeah, it is.
We had the opportunity, and we just really loved the idea because it really matches our mission so we're very excited to have helped organize it this year.
- What are some of the cultures that people will be able to see at this event?
- Oh, we've got, I did a little alliteration, so we have some Basque, Bolivian, Bulgarian, and then Japanese, Irish, Mexican dances and cultures will be represented, so we're super excited, and we have 14 groups actually so.
- Wow.
It sounds like something that's gonna be really fun for the entire family.
- Definitely.
Family friendly, all ages, everyone is welcome.
- How do people attend?
Do you need to RSVP?
Are there tickets?
- So there are no tickets.
It's free, but we do recommend going to our website and just giving us an RSVP, but if you don't, it's okay.
Just show up and I think we're gonna have a great time.
- I think so too.
Let's get the website up so people can find out how they can RSVP, and let them know that they're gonna be coming to the Multicultural Ethnic Dance Festival.
This is hosted by Emerald Hills Institute, the 21st multicultural Ethnic Dance Festival, June 1st, from four to 9:00 p.m. at The Gateway.
