Woman 1: ♪ Rollercoaster.
♪ ♪ Take your eyes to the sky, ♪ ♪ won't come down.
♪ ♪ Dan: This 520-acre amusement park will be the backdrop to a series of challenges that will put those teams to the test and it's these ride tickets that will determine who walks away with $50,000.
- [screaming] ♪ - Welcome to the final day of Relative Race!
DNA tells us who we are and where we came from.
Following their own DNA, four teams are racing... - Woo!
- Here we go!
[car revving] Dan: To win $50,000... - We're here!
We made it!
Dan: And to find their family.
[knocking] ♪ ♪ Nine days ago, four new teams circled up-- Karim: Gracious Father, I thank You for bringing us together and Lord, I thank You for the journey that You're gonna take us on.
Dan: --to begin the journey of a lifetime.
Karim: I can't believe that we're here.
- Me neither.
This is really crazy.
Dan: Their road to discovery would be paved with trials... [chicken clucking] - Oh!
Too much!
Kyle: Why didn't you say anything?!
- I said I wanted to go to the I-25.
Angela: Okay.
We did it!
Let's go!
- [laughing] Dan: ...that would strengthen their relationships and fortify their resolve.
Angela: I mean, this is gonna be something that I talk about for like, ever.
- For the rest of your life.
- For like, the rest of my life.
Dan: Every road-- - [gasps] This is it!
- Oh my goodness, I'm so nervous.
Dan: --would lead to life-changing discoveries.
[dramatic music crescendoes] - [gasps] Christopher: I'm your brother.
[tender music] - I'm your sister.
- It's so nice to meet you.
Through this journey I've realized that I was kind of missing a part of myself.
- You're my aunt.
- I am!
Layton: I feel like a circle is being completed and it's been really great.
- I'm your brother.
Angela: --my brother, yes.
It's nice to meet you.
Meeting my brother, it was just all these years of wondering and it's overwhelming.
Buford: That's your mama.
Tiffani: [sniffling] I've waited over 40 years to figure out what she looked like.
I will forever be grateful.
- Look at you.
[chuckles] - It made me feel like I belong.
- [crying] I'm your mama.
Rachelle: I feel more whole than I probably have felt since forever.
- I'm your brother, actually.
Tiffani: I had my brother and I couldn't ask for anything more.
- Wow.
Layton: We've got 23 years of hugs to make up.
- Yes, I am your mom.
♪ - Hi.
- There's no words.
Sabrina: I feel like I'm complete now.
[tender music stops, intense music starts] Dan: But by Day 5 of the race, each team had at least one strike.
You have picked up your first strike on this race.
Jose: We really have to pick it up a notch.
Dan: But the teams stayed persistent.
Rachelle: Let's go!
- We're going away from it.
- [frustrated sigh] Layton: Shouldn't we just go back that way to get onto the-- - No, we need to go that way.
Dan: Fighting to make it to Day 10.
- Come on, car.
Come on, car!
[rhythmic clicking] Kyle: No, you gotta turn around.
Dan: But by Day 6-- Kelly: That was the worst traffic light I've ever sat at in my life.
Dan: --Team Green had racked up three last-place finishes.
- Thank you for this experience.
Tiffani: Girls, we are gonna miss you so much.
- We love you.
- And so we say goodbye to Team Green, but for Team Red, Team Blue, and Team Black, your journeys begin again tomorrow morning.
Our three remaining teams raced on.
Rachelle: It's really time to lock in and do great today.
Dan: And with the prize of immunity, Team Red was guaranteed to make it to Day 10.
Tiffani: Do you want-- - For another team to get a strike.
The least competition for Day 10, the better.
Dan: And eventually, on Day 9... - Supposedly there's a road that goes down and across.
- We can do it.
Dan: Team Black earned a third and final strike.
Layton: If we have to go home on, on a day, today's the day.
Kyle: A little disappointed, not gonna lie.
Layton: I just wanted to meet everybody and that was our purpose from the beginning.
Dan: Now, Team Blue and Team Red have arrived in Foley, Alabama, ready to take on the final challenges of Day 10, in an attempt to win the grand prize of $50,000.
This is the final day of Relative Race.
Welcome teams and congratulations on making it to Day 10, the final day of your journey.
When you started this adventure nine days ago in Cincinnati, you were working hard to provide service to others.
Well, you know what they say, families that work hard like to play hard and that's exactly what you'll be doing today here at Tropic Falls at OWA Amusement Park and believe me when I tell you that this day will be full of unexpected twists and turns.
[distant screaming] - My biggest fear is heights and rollercoasters.
Yeah, I'm not, I'm not very excited for today at all.
Dan: So, Rachelle, how do you feel right now, standing here?
Did you think you'd make it this far?
- This was an unexpected journey and I'm happy to be here and ready to see what Day 10 awaits.
- Well, believe me, there's some surprises in store for all of you because today, we've customized several of the rides here at Tropic Falls at Owa to create four fun-filled challenges.
Complete the challenge to earn these, tickets.
Back in the day when I was a kid, you had to have tickets to get on any ride at any amusement park, and today, these tickets will determine which team comes out on top and walks away with newfound family, lifelong memories, and let's not forget, $50,000.
Wanna know what your very first challenge is gonna be?
All: Yes.
- Well, it's called, "Family Spells Fun."
[adventurous music] In this challenge, you're gonna ride Rollin' Thunder.
You'll rise and climb to over 100 feet in the air before dropping straight down, reaching speeds of 55 miles an hour.
While you're climbing and diving, twisting and turning, you'll also have to be looking for eight letters posted all along the route.
When you find those letters and finish the ride, you'll need to run over to our giant letter board, search for the letters that you found, and then unscramble them to spell out a word that has a lot to do with Relative Race.
Now, if you can't remember all your letters or you can't figure out the word, you'll have two more attempts on Rollin' Thunder to find the letters and figure out your word.
The first team to spell the correct word will pick up 50 tickets, while the second place team will earn 25.
Got it?
Rachelle: Got it.
- We've come this far.
- Yeah.
- I'm not gonna let my fears get the best of us today.
- We've been underdogs, I believe, the whole race.
- So these underdogs, we'll end up on top.
[tense music] - So, are you ready for your final day to begin?
Karim: Yes, Dan.
Dan: Great, because "Family Spells Fun" starts in three, two, one, go!
♪ Ride Attendant: All right, hello everyone!
Welcome to the Rollin' Thunder!
Rachelle: Woo!
- How you doin'?
- I'm doing fantastic, but before you can ride, unfortunately you're gonna have to have three riders each.
- All right.
- Three riders?
- What?!
- I'm immediately thrown off because I didn't know that we would have a third rider.
Ride Attendant: So, what you're going to do is you're going to go back into the park, you're gonna find someone with the same team color, bring 'em back here, first one to come in, they'll be able to ride.
- Go back down this way?
Tiffani: So, we have to run back out and through the park to find someone with a red shirt.
[bongo drums] Jose: Same team color.
♪ - This park is huge.
I really hope we can find somebody with a blue shirt not too far from the ride, or I'm gonna have a tough day.
Tiffani: Cut through this way!
Jose: Cut through this way!
♪ We sprint over to this area with tons of people standing around, but no team-colored shirts.
Tiffani: We're scrambling and I see someone wearing a blue shirt and I'm like, okay, I get it.
We have to find a relative because I recognized one of Rachelle's relatives.
Okay, mine's here somewhere.
Karim: Right there!
Come on, baby, let's go!
Rachelle: Off into the distance, I see someone, and guess who it is?
My sister, Teah!
Karim: Come on!
Rachelle: Right here!
- Team Red!
Team Red!
- Before I even see the red shirt, I see this big, red beard, and I knew it was my brother, Chris.
Teah: Hi!
Oh, bye!
Chris: We better run!
I'm Christopher Stoner.
- [gasps] Chris: I'm your brother.
[tender music] I was so excited to surprise Tiffani today.
It seems like throughout this whole competition I'm, I just keep finding myself being excited to surprise Tiffani.
- As excited as I was, I had to stop and give him a hug 'cause I just-- every second that I see him, we're just making up for lost time.
So, the fact that he's here to finish this journey with me, it's unbelievable.
- I'm your sister.
♪ Rachelle: It's so nice to meet you.
- [whispering] It's nice to meet you, too.
When Rachelle first saw me, she had a big smile, looked like she was about to cry, but we're running, so it was nice, very nice.
Rachelle: Having my sister there was very helpful because it's always better having three sets of eyes versus two.
[bongo drums play] Jose: We need you, we need you!
We need you, let's go!
Chris: Let's go!
Jose: Go, go, go, go!
Rachelle: You so unexpected!
[Teah laughs] [birds chirp] [fast paced music plays] But now we got three eyes.
Jose: Come on guys!
- Phew!
Ride Attendant: All right, welcome back!
All right, Team Red, you're first, so you are going first.
- All right.
Karim: Man, I'm gassed.
I used all my energy on the first run, now we have to go second, and this could make or break us.
- Open up the gate!
[metal creaking] Tiffani: The first challenge is the rollercoaster, the biggest rollercoaster in the park.
And I'm like, ugh, I don't know that I can do this.
[whoosh] Amy: My kids like thrill rides and speed.
Gotta treat for you guys.
Tiffani: Amy tells us that uh, her family, they like thrills and speed and my first thought was, ah, we're going on a rollercoaster and I'm so afraid of heights.
Jose: Our challenge is in there.
Tiffani: Nope.
Because if you wanna see me really cry... [exhales sharply] [clicking] - You okay, baby?
Ride Attendant: All right.
Good luck everybody.
- All right, memorize these letters, babe.
Ride Attendant: All clear, enjoy your ride on the Rollin' Thunder!
Chris: Man, my first rollercoaster ride.
- You've never been on one?!
- Yeah, I've chickened out every time.
- No way!
- We are twins.
Chris: [laughs] I've never actually ridden a rollercoaster in my life and I've chickened out every time.
- Ohhh.
- [indistinct] Look alive, look alive.
- I am, I am, I am.
[eerie music] - Did I tell you I hate rollercoasters?
I'm so nervous and terrified right now.
I think I might be sick.
I'm about to freak out.
I'm good, I'm good, I'm good.
[whimpering] [breathing deeply] - Breathe, baby.
Breathe, mama, breathe, mama.
[Tiffani frantically breathing] Look down, look down when we get up.
Look for more letters.
Breathe, baby, breathe.
Tiffani: Ugh.
Jose: Breathe, baby.
It's okay.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[Tiffani screams] [Tiffani moaning in discomfort] ♪ Jose: The letters were strategically placed along the ground and there was some that you really had to keep an eye out 'cause if you looked too late or too soon you'd miss it 'cause there was a quick, sharp turn or a twist.
Rachelle: All right, y'all.
- Let's go, let's go, let's go.
Rachelle: I'm a little excited, but also nervous, it's been a while since I've ridden a rollercoaster.
♪ Jose: R, R!
Tiffani: R-- ah!
- R, E!
R, E, E!
Tiffani: Oh!
S!
Jose: S!
Tiffani: S!
- Here we go, everyone!
Enjoy your ride on the Rollin' Thunder!
- When we came back around and realized that it was an "M," I knew it was "memories."
- Before we finished the ride-- - Yeah, before we finished the ride-- I'm, I'm shouting, I'm like, "It's memories!
It's memories!"
- Huh?
- Memories.
Chris: I, O, M, M, R, E, S?
Jose: [quietly] Yeah, shhh.
[clanking] - Oh, wow.
[sighs deeply] Anybody see anything yet?
- No, not yet.
- All right.
Woo.
Oh child.
- Yeah, baby.
Rachelle: Woo.
Teah: It's going down.
- [screams] Oh, oh, oh!
Teah: [screams] Karim: BYU, we love you!
[indistinct yelling] Rachelle: M!
I, O, M!
- This is actually pretty tough, spotting all the letters while flipping and going upside down, but man, am I having a blast.
- [breathing heavily] Ride Attendant: All right, Red team, great job, great job.
Going up.
- Are we going left or right, where we going?
- Right, left?
This way.
Teah: I see another M. Rachelle: So, looking for letters is kind of a distraction for the most rickety and hardest parts of the rollercoaster.
I, O, M. Anything else?
[footsteps] Tiffani: All right, right here, right here.
M, M, M's!
Jose: I, E!
Tiffani: M. Rachelle: R!
I, O, M, M, R!
I, O, M, M, R!
- I missed a letter, couldn't see it.
Rachelle: S!
I, O, M, M, R, S. I, O, M, M, R, S. I, O, M, M, R, S. Chris: M-- two M's!
Jose: S, yeah, it was two M's.
Chris: R!
Jose: So, we run to the board and we know exactly what letters we're looking for.
- Phew!
- I, O, M, M, R, S. Anybody see anything else?
- No, I missed a letter.
I couldn't tell if it was an F or what.
Jose: Come on, baby, come on, baby.
You got it, you got it.
- It's memories-- oops.
Here you go.
It's memories, it's memories.
[wood blocks clacking] Jose: All right, all right, all right.
Ride Attendant: Welcome, welcome back, Blue team!
Welcome back thunderbirds!
All right, go ahead and start unbuckling your seatbelt, we're gonna get you right over here so you can solve that puzzle.
All: [intermittently] R, R, R!
♪ [velcro ripping] Ride Attendant: Go, go, go!
Hurry, hurry!
[metal clicking] Rachelle: I, O, M, M, R, S. I'll grab 'em.
[gate creaks] [clapping] - You got this, come on guys.
[wood blocks clacking] Tiffani: All right, we need Dan, we need Dan.
Jose: Dan, can you check it?
[intense music] - M-E-M-O-R-I-E-S is the word-- Jose and Tiffani: Yes!
- --memories.
- Good job.
One challenge complete and we're already up 50 tickets.
- That was impressive.
When did you know that this was the word?
- When we saw the second M. - Really?
Tiffani: Yeah, we were coming around and I yelled it out before we even got the last two letters.
- Yeah, and I'm like, are you sure?
Are you sure?
- Yeah.
- Congratulations guys, you have the early lead.
One challenge down, three more to go, and here comes Team Blue.
Teah: Okay, so we know we had an O. Rachelle: Yes, an I and an O. I'm gonna grab them, M, two M's.
Where is the other M?
We had a O, we had a-- - So, we're pulling the letters off the board and we noticed Team Red, they're sitting down.
So, they musta got the word right.
Rachelle: But, there's still hope 'cause we could still get 25 tickets if we complete the challenge.
Karim: Come on, come on, come on!
Teah: Let's throw these up here, see what we got.
Rachelle: Do we need to go... get back in line?
Karim: Um... whatchu think, whatchu thinkin'?
Teah: Oh.
Rachelle: Maybe the R's first.
Karim: Um.
- You have six letters, you remember the other two?
- They're missing both E's.
- Yeah.
Karim: We get up there and we have six letters and I'm flipping through, tryna figure it out.
Rachelle: You say you thought you saw what?
- An F, but I'm not sure.
Karim: Let's try it, try it.
Rachelle: Let me go get it.
My sister, Teah, remembers kind of seeing an F or something that looks like an F, so I'm thinking that we should just pull it and see if it'll help.
♪ Karim: Whatchu think, whatchu think the other one was?
- I don't know.
- I didn't see that.
- I didn't see the other one.
- Dang, they're so close, but it's not an F. - I'm pretty sure 'firmsom' is not a word.
Rachelle: You wanna go on?
Karim: I mean, ain't no, ain't no reason to waste time.
Rachelle: Okay, let's go.
- A'ight.
Rachelle: Going twice, we kinda start feeling the pressure because we realize that Red didn't have to go twice.
- Oh man, I'm so happy it's them having to go twice and not us.
Chris: I bet you are.
- Yeah.
- They were so close!
When they went back to find another letter they brought back the F and it's actually an E. In fact, they need two E's, but they're back on the ride looking for those letters once again.
- We've only found six letters, which means we had to go again.
Um, it's fun at the same time, but disappointing because we wanna get it all in one shot.
Rachelle: All right.
Teah: All right, let's go.
Whoo!
Rachelle: Uh.
[indistinct yelling] Teah: There's a letter, R. E!
A E!
Karim: E!
Not an F, it's an E!
It's not F. - So the second try around, we're looking for these last two letters and Teah spots them and they're E's, so thanks to my sister, we're ready to solve this puzzle.
We got two E's or just one?
Teah: I don't know, I think that was-- - I only saw one E. You saw another E?
- No, so remember I said I wasn't sure if that was an F. - I saw a E. - It was an E. - I saw an E by the S and R, right?
- Right.
- Okay.
- The E's that we were looking for were in the bushes.
[velcro unstrapping] ♪ - So, it looks like they got both E's the second time around.
Teah: Okay.
Rachelle: Okay.
Teah: Take this off, remember?
Some.
Karim: Um.
♪ We got all the correct letters now, but we're just not seeing the word come together.
Rachelle: [mumbling] - Oh, oh, um.
Rachelle: What?
Karim: Uh, it's um, memories, memories, memories.
Uh-huh, that's right, that's right, that's right.
That's right, yeah.
Rachelle: All right, Dan, check it out.
Dan: M-E-M-O-R-I-E-S spells memories, that is the correct word, you have finished.
However, it did take you two rides on Rollin' Thunder, which means you have finished in second place.
Teah: Okay, it's all good, it's all good.
- We good, we good, let's go.
Teah: Team Blue!
- Whoo!
♪ Dan: Congratulations, Team Red, you did in fact survive Rollin' Thunder, and with the help of Chris, you were able to make "memories" which means you have the early lead but from this point forward, you're gonna be on your own.
So Chris and Teah, thank you for your help.
Chris: You got this.
Teah: Y'all got this.
Chris: You got this.
Teah: Y'all got this.
We the underdogs, bring me home that 50.
Rachelle: [laughs] - All right, we've seen how you can spell, but can you hit a target while spinning in every direction?
That's what we're gonna find out in our second challenge of the day, something we like to call, "Stay on Target."
Follow me.
[music crescendos] [music fades] [upbeat carnival music] The second challenge of Day 10 is "Stay on Target," where teams will take turns riding the Crazy Mouse rollercoaster.
During their ride, teams will throw as many balls as possible at various targets, while they whip and spin around the track.
They will earn one ticket for hitting the large targets, five tickets for the medium targets, and 10 tickets for the smallest targets.
After two runs each, the teams' tickets will be counted up and presented at the end of the day.
[rock music] All right teams, are you ready to take aim?
All: Yes!
Dan: Okay, Tiffani and Jose, by virtue of your first win, you are first up.
Good luck!
- Let's do this, babe.
- Let's do it, baby.
I'm pretty confident.
We like target-based challenges, we've been doing pretty good on them so far.
- Yeah.
Rachelle: So since Team Red won the first challenge, we get to go second, which means that we get to watch them.
- Watching Team Red go first is definitely an advantage.
- All right!
Red train, you ready?
- Yes!
Jose: Let's do it!
Ride Attendant: Here we go!
Goin' all the way up, enjoy your ride on the Ca-ca-ca-Crazy Mouse!
♪ Jose: Go, go.
[ding] Tiffani: I got two, I got two.
Jose: Yeah.
Tiffani: I got one.
Down, down, down, down, down, down.
[dinging] Right here, right here, right here.
Get a bunch of them, get a bunch of them.
Right here.
Jose: At first, we, we just went for the target and we apparently threw them too hard that they just bounced right off.
Tiffani: [grunts] [ding] Jose: Good job, baby, good job.
- Like, I'm just gonna try to put as many in my hand as I can, probably.
- Me, too.
- Try like two or three at a time.
While watching them, we knew that we needed to try to hit as many 10s and 5s as possible.
Tiffani: Right here.
[dinging] More down there, more down there!
♪ [thud] [ding] Tiffani: The first rollercoaster was terrifying, but the spinning...
I'm gonna be sick.
I only have four, I only have four.
Jose: I have five, I got five.
Tiffani: Right here!
Jose: One by your foot, one by your foot!
[ding] One by your foot.
[ding] Tiffani: Yeah, I think the most difficult part of the challenge is, is definitely timing, and then finding the highest number targets.
- Yeah.
- Good job, baby.
Karim: Team Red, I believe they uh, with them going first, they had a lot of success.
Rachelle: But it's Day 10, so I'm about to hit the bull on the eye.
- Bullseye?
- Exactly.
All right, the first one-- Karim: Oh, you see, you see that one right there?
- Yup, I'mma try to get it.
You ready?
- Yeah.
♪ [ding] You get it?
Rachelle: Yup.
[ding] Ooo.
Our strategy was throwing as many balls as possible at any target.
♪ [dinging] - And hopefully, hopefully they'll throw it real hard.
I think it's a little bit of a disadvantage to us because Blue Team was able to watch to see kind of what we did and maybe learn from some of the mistakes that we made.
- Yeah, I agree.
Rachelle: Whoo!
[dinging] Karim: Good job, good job, good job, good job, good job!
[dinging] When we were up there spinnin', I can't see what we hit, when I'm getting close to a target, it's whippin' me around.
I'm just lucky I still have my neck on.
- [chuckles] We're doing it.
Get that one.
♪ [dinging] ♪ Karim: So there's a 10 that I have my eye on and just when I'm about to throw, spin, so I have to throw it behind my back and I don't know if I hit it or not.
Oh!
[dinging] - Whoo!
[ding] - You got anymore?
Rachelle: Yeah, you got some?
[dinging] Karim: We really, at this point, have no idea how we did.
Um, just hoping for the best.
Rachelle: So, we cleared both buckets of balls, so all the balls are out there on the field, we're hoping that it's good enough and that we hit enough.
♪ - We really have no idea what our ticket total is, but this is our last shot.
We need to get as many balls as we can to stick to the target.
[rock music] [dinging] Jose: It's like uh, we're on vacation-- Tiffani: Yeah.
Jose: --for us.
Tiffani: Yeah.
Jose: It doesn't seem much like a challenge because you're having fun, so-- - Yeah.
- --it's more fun than anything.
[ding] ♪ [dinging] ♪ [dinging] - The most fun part of this challenge was when we were done.
I was tired of spinnin' around.
[ding] - Go Blue!
- Yeah, honestly, we don't know even know how many points we got because there's, there's too many balls over there, there's targets that we can't see, targets on the lawn, um, everything is spinning around, so, um, we'll see.
♪ Dan: I gotta tell you guys, I'm a little jealous, that looked like so much fun!
So, Team Blue, were you able to Stay on Target?
- I don't know, Dan.
You'll be the one to tell us.
All: [laughing] - Did you have fun?
- Yes.
Dan: Good!
- She's speaking for herself.
Dan: Oh, Karim's like, I'm not sure.
- She's speaking for herself.
- I'm like, yes, we did.
- Well, remember, your points will be converted to tickets and you're gonna find out at the end of the day.
- [groaning] - In the meantime, I hope you're ready to get wet because your next challenge is on the lake.
- Nice.
♪ - And buoy, that's tough.
- [laughing] - Buoy-- did you hear what I-- Jose: Yeah, we got it.
Karim: Yeah, we gotchu.
- That's right, this next challenge is all about the buoys and believe me, it's gonna be tough.
Let's go.
- All right, too slow!
Nah, I'm just playin', come on, right here.
Up here, up here.
[laughing] Jose: Good job, guys.
♪ Dan: The third challenge of Day 10 will be a fast-paced water ride in...
Using a paddle board and a rope pole, contestants will take turns riding across OWA Lake in an attempt to pick up as many Relative Race balls as possible.
Each ball will be worth five tickets at the end of the day.
All right, this time Team Blue, you're first up.
So, get wet and good luck.
- A'ight, come on, let's go.
- All right, let's go.
- Get it, guys, get it!
Rachelle: Thank you!
Karim: Thank you.
Dan: You got this, guys, come on now.
Karim: Going first this time, I'm not really excited about it 'cause I kinda like to see what the other team does.
- Oh, okay.
Rachelle: Once you get on the board, the challenge actually doesn't start yet.
The rope tows you out to the start line, so this is your chance to get a feel for everything and the speed of the paddle board is way faster than expected, so it catches me off guard.
♪ - They got the advantage last time watching us go first.
I think this time, we got the advantage watching them go.
- That's pretty quick.
♪ All right.
[intense musical booming] ♪ Dan: Three, two, one, go.
[horn blaring] ♪ - As I'm starting to get pulled across the lake, I realize that the hardest part is actually grabbing the balls, because it's just moving too fast for me to actually catch hold of them.
♪ - Good job, keep doin' that.
Rachelle: With how fast the board is going, I'm pretty high out of the water, so I literally have to reach downwards to grab the balls.
♪ Karim: Good job, good job.
- I end with one ball, and I'm feeling like I didn't do that well.
Use them hands.
It helps to guide you.
- Now that we've seen Rachelle get one out of thirteen balls, I'm thinking this is way more difficult than we actually thought.
- It's easy to guide it, but it's just hard to grab 'em 'cause you're going so fast.
- Gotcha.
- So just try, yeah.
- So as I watched 'Chelle, that she was goin' back and forth, I figured that that might not be a great idea for me because I'm a little heavier than her.
♪ - Go Karim, whoo!
[horn blaring] Go Karim!
You gotta lean!

Karim: Tryna move the paddle board to get in sync with the buoy, like I'm not even close right now at this point, but I don't wanna flip over, so I'm trying to guide it in the right direction.
♪ Rachelle: Go ahead Karim, you got it!
There we go!

Go ahead!
Go ahead, Karim!
That was great!
Karim: So now that we have a total of three balls, I feel pretty decent.
Hopefully that'll be enough, but Red Team still has to go.
♪ Tiffani: I think it was beneficial for us to watch Team Blue because that set the bar for us.
We knew how many balls we actually needed to get.
Jose: After watching Karim and Rachelle go back and forth between the buoys, our plan was to stick to one side.
♪ [horn blaring] ♪ Go babe!
You got it!
♪ There you go, there you go!
- It's harder than you think it is.
Tiffani: Ugh.
For me, just getting a ball off that buoy was the most difficult part.
I couldn't get my grips right, every time I grabbed the ball I just dunked the buoy, and then it was a little tough for me to rip those actually off the buoy.
♪ Jose: Let's go, babe!
♪ - Ugh!
I got nothing!
- It's okay, babe.
It's all right.
- I went first and came out with a big goose egg; I couldn't get anything.
Karim: After Tiffani doesn't get any balls, I'm thinking maybe, we might be all right.
- Go Jose, whoo!
- After watching Rachelle and Karim get three balls and my wife got zero, the pressure is on me to get at least three, or else we lose out on this challenge.
- Go, baby, go!
[horn blaring] [intense music] Go, babe, go!
C'mon babe, c'mon, baby, c'mon!
- Oh yeah, that's smart.
♪ Jose: I'm feeling good.
Right off the bat, I grab the first ball, but then I miss the next few.
Now I only have a couple left to try for.
Karim: It looks like he's only got one right now.
♪ Ah, he gettin' 'em, he gettin' 'em.
- He is.
- Ah!
♪ [water splashing] - Man, I ran over the fourth and final ball.
Dan: Well, we're done and some of you are still dripping wet.
Rachelle, you went out and set the tone early, you picked up one ball on the top of that buoy and Karim brought in two more, so you picked up 15 points.
For Team Red, Tiffani was the first out and Tiffani, you struggled.
What happened?
- Yeah Dan, I was grabbing uh, for the, reaching for the balls and those buoys were just sinking every time.
- Well, we said, "Buoy That's Tough," but Jose saved your team in a big way, you brought in three all by yourself.
- I did, um, it was kinda tricky at first to navigate, but after a while you figured it out, so teamwork.
- Now remember, those points will be turned into tickets, which you will receive at the end of the day and we're almost there.
There is one challenge remaining and it's right next door.
So, follow me, and by the way, bring your life vests.
You're gonna need 'em.
Tiffani: Nice.
Rachelle: All right, let's go.
Karim: Oh boy.
Jose: Another water one.
Great.
[music fades] ♪ - It all comes down to this.
Your final challenge is an obstacle course and we've all seen those before, right?
- Yeah.
Dan: But have you ever seen one on the water?
Welcome to Dash 'N' Stash.
In this final challenge, you'll be competing head-to-head to grab 70 flags, strategically placed all throughout this floating flotilla of fun.
Now, each flag has a different point value based on where it's placed.
The more difficult the obstacle, the higher the point value.
Grab those flags and place them in your team cooler.
And remember, your points will be turned into tickets and with 180 points waiting to be stashed away, each team is still very much in the running for the $50,000.
- Going into the fourth challenge after knowing that we lost the first one, we gotta give it our all and try as hard as we can.
Tiffani: It could be anybody's game, so it's really imperative that we go strong on this next one.
Dan: A few rules to keep in mind, you can only have five flags in your hand before you must deposit them in your team cooler.
You can never push anyone else in the water.
If you do, you'll be sent to your cooler to cool off for one minute.
And if you're in the water, you can't grab any flags from there.
And finally, you only have 15 minutes before this challenge and your day is done.

Jose, are you ready?
Jose: Ready!
- Karim?
- Yeah!
Dan: Tiffani?
- Yeah!
Dan: Rachelle?
- Yeah!
- Your clock starts now!
[horn blaring] [groovy, tropical music] Tiffani: C'mon, baby!
Jose: You good, baby?
Tiffani: Yeah!
Rachelle: Karim, be careful!
Karim: I'm trying to be!
Tiffani: I think the most difficult part of this challenge was just kind of finding our balance.
Rachelle: Oh!
[rubber squeaking] [water splashing] - I was the first one to fall off.
- Tiffani's down in the water, she has to get back up using one of those stairs.
Tiffani: Uh, just fell right in.
Jose: Luckily, I was just right around the corner and I was able to get her right out, almost immediately.
- No, that was the second time.
- Oh, was it?
You fell twice?!
- I fell twice.
- What?!
I didn't even know that.
Tiffani: It's slippery, babe, careful.
Jose: I know, I know, I know.
Tiffani: Okay.
Karim: The obstacle course is very slippery.
Rachelle: Oof!
Karim: Hey, take these to the thing.
And some of the paths aren't ideal to walk on.
Gimme that yellow one.
Gimme those two.
Rachelle: Whoo!
Karim: Oh shoot!
You all right?
- Oh, Rachelle reached out to Karim and slid off.
Rachelle: So, I'm not much of a swimmer, so once I fall in I know that it's gonna take me a bit of time to get back to the stairs.
- You good?
Rachelle: Yep.
Dan: Tiffani's made her first deposit for Team Red.
Tiffani: Being first back to the cooler, for me, kinda set the tone for how this was gonna go.
Whoa, babe, come here!
So, yeah, it was nice.
Jose: You're good?
Tiffani: I'm good.
[rock music] [velcro ripping] ♪ Rachelle: Whoop.
- So initially when I start off, I'm going for the higher points.
Get that one, get that one!
- This one?
Karim: Yeah.
No, go under!
Go under and reach up!
Rachelle: Am I by it?
Karim: No!
The next one, next one, next one!
[velcro ripping] Rachelle: So immediately we realize that it's really, really hard to see the flags right next to us, so we start directing each other from a distance.
- Ay, 'Chelle!
On the other side!
On the other side!
Rachelle: On this one?
- Look through, look through!
Get that one, get that one!
Rachelle: I am.
Karim: Ay-- yeah.
Rachelle: I'm depositing.
Karim: The path is very challenging to get to the cooler, so I'm directing her and she's handing me the flags to put into the cooler.
- I'mma throw 'em to you.
Karim: And go get some more.
Rachelle: So, we're feeling like this challenge, we can grab a lot of flags and make up those points.
How you doin', Karim?
You okay?
Karim: Nah, I'm not okay.
This is serious.
Jose: You need help?
- Yeah, yeah.
Hold me, hold me, hold me!
Hold my hand.
Jose: The course is very slippery, so you have to watch your balance, watch your footing.
I quickly realize that there's no way I could have gotten these harder flags by myself.
Tiffani: Okay, I gotchu.
I gotchu.
- You sure?
Tiffani: Yeah, I gotcha.
I gotcha.
Jose: Got it, got it.
Pull me in, pull me in, pull me in!

Tiffani: I gotcha, I gotcha.
Dan: 10 minutes!
You have 10 minutes left!
Karim: Ay, make your way back!

Rachelle: I got it.
I come up with a strategy that I'm just gonna bellyflop across.
- Nah, don't do that.
- Because it's really hard to keep my balance.
Jose: So I had five flags, I grabbed one more, and I handed it off to Tiffani... Dan: Jose!
You had more than five flags in your hand before depositing them!
Jose: It was five and five, we split 'em up!
Tiffani: We split 'em up, he gave me one!
Dan: I understand that.
But you had more than five flags in your hand before you gave flags to Tiffani.
You have a one-minute penalty on your cooler.
Jose: Go, go make up for it, make up for it.
Go.
Do what you can, mama!
Tiffani: Okay.
Jose: It was, uh, pretty frustrating just sitting there and not being able to help her out.
So I had to sit there and wait.
♪ Karim: Jose's in the penalty box, which means it's our time to shine.
Hey, there's one right there.
♪ - Jose!
Your one-minute penalty is up!
- Thank you!
♪ I'm finally freed from my timeout.
And I was pretty confident before my penalty, but now I'm not so sure how we're doing.
♪ Tiffani: Whoa!
♪ [splash] ♪ - Two minutes!
Two minutes remaining, teams, two minutes!
Tiffani: Blue team's always been such a great competitor.
When I fell down, Karim was actually there and helped lift me up.
Thank you, brother.
Waah!

- Tiffani's down and Karim helped her up.
- I know this is a race, but they're still family to us.
So when I saw Tiffani fall, there was no question for me to help her.
Dan: Fifteen seconds!
If you have flags, you've got to get them in your cooler!
Tiffani: Ready?
Jose: Got it.
Tiffani: Go, go, go, go, go!
Karim: You see any up top, under that thing?
Look under it, look under.
Rachelle: No.
Tiffani: Go, go, go!
We only have seconds left to get our last flag in the cooler, and I don't know if I'm gonna make it back.
Dan: Three, two, one!
[buzzer sounds] That's it!

Dash 'N' Stash is done, and so is your day.
Tiffani: [sighs in exhaustion] I love you.
Our last flag doesn't count, and I'm praying one flag isn't the difference between winning and losing.

Time to dry off and get dressed.
And while you do that, we're going to be tallying up all the tickets that you earned throughout this day.
Jose: Going into the final results, we're feeling pretty good, pretty confident.
Rachelle: I can't really tell how we did in comparison to the other team, but we pulled a lot of flags, so... - So hopefully that's enough.
- You're about to find out who's gonna head home as our new champion of Relative Race.

Tiffani: Good job.
♪ Tiffani: After all the challenges are complete, and we don't know how things went, that last challenge, it could be anybody's game.
Rachelle: It's nerve-racking and exciting.
Karim: And it really comes down to this moment right now.
Dan: What a day.
What a crazy, fun-filled adventure you've been on.
You've discovered family all across the country and now one team is about to walk away with $50,000.
Family fun comes in a wide variety of ways.
Might be a camping trip or cooking a meal together.
Maybe it's celebrating a birthday or watching a game or even spending a day at an amusement park like this one.
Tiffani, how did you feel when you realized that you had this entire park all to yourself?
- Um, I was actually really overwhelmed.
I thought it was very, very cool.
I was scared and nervous and excited, but overall, just very, very awesome.
- Karim, safe to say that this entire journey has been something you'll never forget?
- Absolutely, Dan, um, the memories, the family, the new family met, it's been a, it's been an incredible journey and I loved every minute of it.
- Team Blue, since Day 1, have been great.
They've been funny, they've been friendly, they've been amazing.
Like, there's no other team that I would have rather competed against.
- Yeah.
- It's one thing to watch the show and it's another thing to be a part of it.
And what we started from to where we are now, it's God's will.
And the memories, they'll always be remembered.
Dan: Well it's time to find out who becomes our ultimate winner.
Let's begin with our first challenge of the day: Family Spells Fun.
[screaming] Jose: O, E!
Tiffani: All right, we need Dan, we need Dan!
- Team Red, you were the first one to find all your letters and quickly spell the correct word, which was "memories."
And for that, you picked up 50 tickets.
Team Blue, you picked up 25 tickets by finishing in second.
And so, Team Red, you had the early lead.
- We knew we had the lead on that first challenge.
- I'm a little worried, because we were trailing all day.
- We moved on to Stay on Target.
♪ Rachelle: Whoo!
Karim: Not as much as I wanted to!
Tiffani: I got one, I got one!
Karim: Good job, good job, good job, good job!
Good job, good job!
- Team Red, you found out that you were gonna go first.
Did you talk about a strategy with that in mind?
- Yeah, we, we kinda did.
Um, we talked about throwing possible, multiple balls at a target and going for the high-value targets at first.
- Team Blue, on the other hand, you had this advantage of watching them and then trying to come up with your own strategy.
What did you learn and how did that affect you when you finally got out on the ride?
Well, watching them, it really didn't help us, because our weight distribution was still off, so we were just spinnin' around more.
- Well, the point totals are in.
Team Blue, you, in fact, Stayed on Target to the tune of 30 tickets.
You now have 55.
Team Red, you seemed like you were having a lot of fun out there and in fact, that payed off.
You earned 70 more tickets, which means you now have 120 tickets total.
- After getting the second round of results, I'm a little worried because now our gap is a little bit wider between us and Red.
- At that point, I got a little bit more confident.
A little more excited.
- Yeah.
- 'Cause it was way more than what we thought.
Dan: And then we headed out to the lake.
And "buoy," that was tough.
♪ Karim: Good job, keep doin' that!
Rachelle: Go ahead, Karim, you got it!
There we go!
- Aagh!
I got nothing!
- There were 70 points available in that challenge.
Rachelle, you were the first one out, and I think you impressed everybody by coming back with one ball worth five points.
And then, Karim, you picked up two more.
And so 15 tickets were added to your total, which means you now have deposited 70 tickets total.
Tiffani, you went out and struggled.
You weren't able to bring back any balls.
But your husband picked up the slack and he brought in three balls worth 15 points.
And so, you also earned 15 more tickets which means you now have 135.
And so it really did all come down to Dash 'N' Stash.
Karim: Give me those two!
Rachelle: Whoo!
Karim: Oh, shoot!
[fabric squeaking] [velcro ripping] ♪ [splash] - You might remember that I told you there were 70 flags spread out all along that course, where 180 points converted into tickets was available.
Well, I gotta tell ya.
You surprised us, because combined between the two teams, you found 68 of them.
Tiffani: Nice.
Dan: However, the number of flags is not nearly as important as the point value of each of those flags.
- That last challenge, it could be anybody's game.
Karim: This is it.
Comes down to the final challenge.
Rachelle: I really hope that we got more high-point value flags than Red.
- Karim and Rachelle.
You added an impressive 70 tickets to your total.
[cash register sound] Dan: Tiffani and Jose.
When we tallied up your points, you brought in 105 more tickets which means you are our new champions of Relative Race.
You have served others, you have found your family, and when you needed those tickets, you earned them.
You are our new champions.
And with that, you pick up this $50,000 check.

Rachelle: Good job guys.
Karim: Good job cousins, good job cousins.
Tiffani: I love you so much.

- We just won Relative Race.
I got to meet my family.
Something I've been searching for for over 40 years.
I got answers to questions, I have brothers, I have cousins, and they're close.
Jose: This means everything to me and my wife, so hopefully we can expand our own family and use the money to pay for IVF.
This is going to afford us the possible several times that it will take for us to conceive.
[cheering] Rachelle: After this experience, I'm just so grateful and happy and I feel so blessed, because I've met amazing family during this journey, I've gotten closer to, you know, the family that I already have, and it was just, it was just a blessing.
So I'm very happy that we even made it this far.
- I loved every minute of it.
Dan: Congratulations, guys!
[distant cheering] ♪ So before the show, we, we did a round of IVF treatments.
And it was unsuccessful.
And it's, I mean, physically and mentally, emotionally, it's, it's, it's tough.
It's really rough, it's, it's a very intense procedure women go through.
And, and then there comes an emotional aspect.
You know, you're hoping every month, this is gonna be the month or this is gonna be the treatment, and, and, and it hasn't worked out.
But after the show we've, we've also done a couple treatments.
- This money from Relative Race that we won is helping with this treatment because it's pretty costly.
It's not cheap.
So it definitely will help us with the expenses to pay for this treatment.
Tiffani: Since the show, we've had two unsuccessful treatments locally, and my sister recommended her clinic out-of-state and she just had a successful IVF transfer.
And now she's expecting a baby girl.
We wanted to have a child together.
We having, you know, separate kids, we want to have that bond together and have our own child together.
So we're hoping that, that this works, but I mean, again, it's, it's, it's weeks of... Jose & Tiffani: Medication, Tiffani: shots every day, um, doctor visits every day for, for a few weeks and, and then again, the extraction process is, is pretty physically painful.
It's, I mean, you're down for a good two weeks trying to recover and recoup.
So it's, it's not anything that's, that's light, it's just something that we struggle through, I guess.
You can say it's, it's, you know, again, it's emotionally painful as well as physically, physical painful, because you're just hoping that okay, this is the time that it's gonna work.
Doctor: Hey Tiffani.
How are you guys doing?
- Yeah, we're doing really well.
Doctor: Good.
Should see you next week.
- Yep, so we'll plan on heading out in the next couple days.
Doctor: Okay, good.
- And we'll get that first ultrasound going.
- I think we're planning on doing a couple more treatments.
If, if that doesn't work, then we're definitely going to adopt, because we just bought a bigger house for a bigger family.
We need to fill those rooms.
Jose: [laughing] Yeah.
Tiffani: And, I mean, that's, that's what we want.
We've always wanted a big family.
And so if it's, if it's not in the cards for us to have our own child, then-- together, then, yeah.
- Definitely consider adoption.
- Even if this IVF does work, and we are still open and wanting to adopt.
- We, we would love to have at least two or three more kids.
Preferably boys.
Tiffani: Yes... Jose: We have enough girls in this house, but... Tiffani: [laughing] Jose: But yeah, I'd say at least two or three more.
I'll be happy with two, but I think three is good.
- Yeah, he's-- - So if we adopt them all at once, I don't care, that's fine.
[laughs] ♪ Since the show, we've, um, we've bought a new house.
We're just getting settled in now, and it's going great so far.
Tiffani: I have two brothers that live in-- pretty close to us.
And buying this house was actually because we wanted to be closer to my brothers.
Unfortunately, John lives farther, so we don't get to see him as often— Jose: We don't see him as often, yeah.
Tiffani: --but it's been so amazing.
- To us, family, you know, it means a, it means a lot.
- Yeah, I think the family's a foundation of, of who we are.
I didn't realize this-- I mean, I always thought we are a product of our environments, but it wasn't until I went on this show that I realized, I have like-- We have innate traits that are biological, and I didn't realize that until this show honestly, I didn't realize that until I met my brother.
Chris: So who's winning?
- When we first started this, we kind of explained to our kids what adoption is and how I have a biological family that I had never met.
And us meeting Chris and then our kids meeting Chris, it's cra-- I mean, I think they have a greater appreciation because they kind of know that we've just found him-- kind of our story.
And they love him and Mary.
Jose: Yeah.
Tiffani: They, they want to stay at his house all the time, they want him to come over all the time, whenever he walks in the door, it's like "Uncle Chris!"
They're just enamored with their uncle, and it's been such a great transition.
And they don't-- Chris and Mary don't have kids of their own.
And they have welcomed our kids like their own.
- I mean, they treat them like their own.
They spoil them, probably-- - They spoil them, yeah.
- --a little bit too much.
But it's so heartwarming to see that they-- and not at all-- I mean, from the get-go.
They weren't shy, it wasn't anything.
It was just welcoming, open arms, and even though they just met and they-- he, it definitely seems like they have known him, he's been around this whole time.
They just haven't seen him for a while.
Chris: It's been a life-changing event.
And it just so happens that we absolutely love each other.
We fell in love immediately.
When you meet a long-lost relative, that's not something I can explain to somebody.
When you look into your eyes for the first time in 40 years, nobody will ever be able to take that away.
[slow distorted yelling] [splash] - We want to say thank you so much to everyone at Relative Race for all the hard work, all the effort that's been put in.
- Yeah.
- I mean, this, this has been life-changing for so many people.
Not just for us, but for, you know, our whole family that we've met.
I mean, I have relatives that didn't even know that we existed and now we get to have deep, meaningful relationships with them.
And the fact that I got to meet my brother... Our lives have changed for the better immensely.
You have no idea.
It's been a wild, crazy ride and we are so forever thankful.
