Dan: It would test their endurance.

Dan: And push them to their limits.
Pam: Great.
Ugh!
- Calm down, don't get upset.
- This was your idea!
- It doesn't matter, Steve!
[crying] Dan: All with the promise... Pam: There it is, 460, pull in!
Christine: All right, all right.
Pam: Right there in the driveway.
Dan: ...of finding long-lost family.
- I'm your brother.
[sharp gasp] JT: Hearin' the words, "I'm your brother" just, it was like a hole was just bein' filled.
Pam: Ah!
It's Monique!
Oh my gosh!
Our sister came runnin' out the house, I immediately recognized her.
- Is dad still alive?
- Yeah.
[boisterous laughter] I never dreamed that I would get this many answers, this much closure.
I can't put it into words.
- We're your brothers.
Amauni: Oh, oh!
You got brothers!
Jarrell: This whole journey has brought me back to my family.
- You've been waiting for us?
- Forever.
Ever since the day you left.
- I'm your father.
- I didn't think I'd ever find you.
Jarrell: I feel like my family is complete.
- This is life enriching, it's life changing.
It makes you a better person.
Steve: When you have an opportunity to meet family and spend time with loved ones, you should do it.
- I know.
I didn't think none of this was gonna be possible, ever.
This has truly been the best days of my life.
Jarrell: Wondering if I was wanted or loved isn't even a wonder anymore, it's turned into a statement.
Dan: Early in the race, Team Red struggled on the road.
- It was hectic.
- Okay, where are we?
Dan: Earning two strikes in the first three days.
Team Red, you have picked up your second strike on Relative Race.
But they managed to hang on.
- Whoo!
Dan: While Team Green managed to keep piling up the wins.
Man, I'm telling you, Team Green, you guys are on a streak.
- Yes!
- We're not gonna let up, we're still goin' for first place.
Dan: By Day Seven, the pace had been set.
Pam: I don't know what direction we're supposed to be going in right now, I mean I don't know.
Christine: That's fine.
Dan: With Teams Red and Black unable to keep up.
- Literally nobody knows how to get to this street.
Dan: Team Red ultimately picked up their final strike, and one day later the twins were also eliminated from the race.
Pam: I am disappointed, I'm upset we didn't make it to the finish.
- I just, I'm gonna miss bein' with our family every day.
[crying] That I'm gonna miss.
- I know our lives have been enriched and have changed permanently from this, and I consider it nothing short of a miracle.
Dan: As the sun rose on Day Nine, our two remaining teams had a clear path to Day Ten.
- We did it, babe.
We did it.
- Boom, yes!
Dan: And they prepared to face off, one final time.
- So we are the only team that's made it to Day Ten with no-- without a strike.
- Oh, that irks me so bad.
Dan: Today, one of our teams will be heading home empty-handed, and one will win the $50,000.
♪ After nine days of a road trip unlike any other... ♪ ...Relative Race has brought our two remaining teams to Terra Farm and Manor, outside Prescott, Arizona.
♪ It's here, surrounded by this rugged beauty, that they will face off one final time.
Susan: Come on!
Steve: Ready?
- Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.
Kaleigh: [screams] [crashing] Susan: You mix it all.
Steve: But this looks really thick!
- And it's these Culinary Stars of Excellence that will determine who heads home with $50,000.
Welcome, to the final day of Relative Race.
♪ DNA tells us who we are and where we came from.
Following their own DNA, four teams are racing.
- Love you!
- Pedal to the metal.
Dan: To win $50,000.
- Go, go!
Dan: And to find their family.
[knocking] ♪ ♪ TJ: This is it, we finally made it to Day Ten.
- And we aren't holding anything back.
♪ Steve: We accomplished everything we wanted to with the family we found, so now it's all competition.
- And we're ready.
[intense music] ♪ - Welcome, teams, and congratulations on making it to Day Ten.
You know, when you started this race nine days ago, you were given the challenge of finding family using little more than paper maps and old fashioned flip phones.
Your journey has brought you right here, to this world-renowned culinary retreat.
Terra Farm and Manor specializes in bringing families together through gourmet cooking, using only the finest and freshest ingredients, guests learn from top chefs how to prepare and present beautiful gourmet meals.
And today, this place will put your culinary skills to the test through a series of unique cooking challenges.
Susan: Is that enough?
Hurry, hurry, hurry!
Kaleigh: What do we need, what do we need?
♪ Dan: So I hope you spent a little time in the kitchen with your relatives this past week, because only one team will survive today's cookoff and be crowned Relative Race champion.
- Dan says it's gonna be a food challenge, and food's not my strength at all.
- Only unless it's eatin' it, he'll do that.
- We're definitely still really confident comin' in here against Team Blue.
I mean, if it's all about family and food, we know both of those.
Dan: Welcome to Terra Farm and Manor, and the final day of Relative Race.
TJ: Let's go!
♪ Dan: So here's how it's gonna work.
We've created three unique cooking challenges spread out all around the farm.
Each of the challenges will be awarded a star.
One for each of the first two challenges, and three stars for the final challenge.
The first team to collect three stars will win the competition, and the $50,000.
Wanna know what your first challenge is?
All: Yeah.
- Great, Don't Flip Out.
All: What?
- No, that's the name of the challenge.
Don't Flip Out.
This is Terra Manor, where your first cooking stations await.
Working as a team, you're gonna whip up a bowl of pancake batter and homemade maple syrup.
Once you got the batter ready, one of you will cook while the other moves 15 feet away holding a platter.
Once you think your pancake is ready, toss it to your teammate who must catch it on the platter.
Now, once you have five pancakes on the platter, you're done... with the first part of your challenge.
You see, you may wanna be careful on how you create your pancakes and syrup, because once you catch the pancakes, you must eat the pancakes.
The first team to do so wins the challenge and picks up the first Culinary Star of Excellence.
Kaleigh: I can scarf some food down as long as it's good.
- As long as it's good, though.
- I've been a flat-iron cook, the only thing is, she's gonna be catchin' em, one handed.
Susan: Yeah, I mean, on a normal Sunday morning breakfast he's not normally flipping pancakes over to me.
- So, are you ready?
[all agreeing] Great, because your first challenge starts in three... two... one... go!
Susan: Go, go, go, go, go, go!
C'mon!
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, baby.
All right.
The first portion of the challenge, we have to make pancake batter.
Steve: From scratch.
- From scratch.
Steve: Come on, come on, come on.
Pour it in there, pour it in there!
- How many scoops of that do you want?
Kaleigh: Not only do we have to make pancakes, but we have to make maple syrup, which is just corn syrup, butter, and a pinch of maple extract.
Go, go, go, quick, quick, quick, quick.
Steve: Before the challenge, I broke down the ingredients for the pancake mix.
If it was snatched up before she got there, I said, "Don't panic, just grab another thing on the list."
Kaleigh: Okay.
Oh, that's way too much, it's okay.
Just go, go, go, it's okay.
I needed a teaspoon, but I got a half a cup, which, there was so much maple that it actually started to burn my eyes when I got close to it.
♪ - All right, c'mon.
All right, go, go, go, go!
Susan: Sorry, what do you need?
Steve: C'mon.
Um, butter!
Kaleigh: Yup, I don't need-- just keep goin'.
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
Good, good.
Uh, go, um, go ahead and go get the eggs.
Susan: There's no recipe, so we're just guessin' at how much milk and flour we need, and I hope our measurements are close enough.
Is that enough?
- No!
It's not.
- Calm down, calm down.
- Pour it!
Pour it, pour it, pour it, pour it.
- I'm not smellin' any pancakes cookin', teams!
Kaleigh: Um... ♪ Susan: Where's the ladle?
Steve: Yeah, I got it!
Go.
Dan: Team Green is the first one to put a pancake on their griddle, they're cookin'.
Susan: C'mon, baby, c'mon!
Dan: So Stephen's gonna cook, Susan is going to attempt to catch those pancakes on the platter.
- C'mon, baby, c'mon.
C'mon.
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon!
Kaleigh: I look over and I realize that Team Green has decided to make thinner pancakes, and I'm makin' my original pancakes, which are a bit on the thicker side.
- C'mon, pancakes!
Kaleigh: All right, I'm cookin'.
Go.
So that means that my pancakes are not gonna cook as fast.
- C'mon!
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, baby.
Hurry.
Dan: JT has moved over to the catching station; he's got his platter, and he awaits their pancakes as well for Team Blue.
JT: All right, you got this, boo.
- This is a really big spatula.
Susan: Is that what you flip with?
Flip it?
With that?
- Guess so!
The griddle is kinda small, and the spatula is really big.
They don't go together.
JT: C'mon, baby.
I gotcha.
Dan: They have to fill the ladle all the way to the top for each pancake.
They can't cook little teeny pancakes.
Susan: Okay, cook faster!
- The syrup's gonna be disgusting.
- I didn't adjust the temperature!
- I told you to!
Steve: I'm sorry!
- Ready?
Hold on.
Susan: Oh my gosh.
- Ready?
♪ - Come on.
[dramatic bass] Steve: Yeah!
♪ Susan: Come on.
♪ Steve: Yeah!
JT: I see Green Team throw their first pancake, and I'm like, ugh.
- Started off really good, and I'm like, we got this.
C'mon!
[funky music] Agh!
And then he flips the second pancake, and I drop it, so I was a little nervous.
- Okay, okay.
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon.
Kaleigh: I didn't freak out immediately, I was like, "It's okay, I can come back, "I've got quite a few pancakes on the griddle already, I feel like I'm doin' the right thing."
♪ Yes!
Yes.
Dan: [laughs] Perfect catch for Team Blue.
- C'mon, baby, c'mon!
JT: Kaleigh throws the first pancake, bam, right on the plate.
Now we're all tied up with Team Green.
Susan: C'mon, baby, this shouldn't be takin' this long.
Pancakes cook really fast, c'mon.
♪ ♪ Dan: That's four.
Susan: C'mon!
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon!
Dan: And that is five!
Susan: [growling] Put the syrup in there and c'mon!
- We just caught our last pancake, so now I just gotta take the syrup over to Susan so we can start eatin'.
- C'mon, baby, c'mon!
[growling] C'mon, c'mon!
Faster!
JT: It's okay.
Take your time.
- Feel like we can't take our time at this point, because we're about to lose.
- That looks delicious!
Pour, pour, pour, pour... get it all in there.
Dan: You are short on homemade syrup.
Susan: Babe!
At first we, it felt like we were pretty far ahead of them-- Kaleigh: Yes!
Susan: But they started to catch up pretty quick.
Dan: Team Green is short on homemade syrup.
Steve: We're-- I had a hiccup on the syrup, it wasn't all the way up to the fill line.
I got a little worried there.
So, I just filled it up with the regular corn syrup.
I mean-- - That's all it needed.
- Yeah, just more ingredient.
Let's go!
Susan: You did, that was good.
- Like, you're about to eat raw pancakes.
JT: Hey, I'll eat whatever I have to.
♪ Susan: Sit down, sit down, we gotta be sitting down.
Dan: You have to get all the syrup on the pancakes.
- I think it's out.
C'mon, eat.
Eat!
JT: C'mon, baby.
You got it!
[dramatic strings] Kaleigh: Catch it, catch it!
[dramatic bass tone] Dan: That's it, Team Blue, you're a little behind.
Can you catch up?
JT: C'mon, we gotta eat!
- Jonathan, I'm trying!
Dan: C'mon, Kaleigh.
You got this.
Kaleigh: Seeing how Team Green competes, we are just not gonna back down, at all.
- They're good!
- Okay, well, eat 'em.
- Oh my gosh, that's so much maple.
That is disgusting!
How bad is it?
- It's horrible!
Kaleigh: I notice that Team Green is actually eatin' pretty slow, so we're thinkin' we can catch up here.
This is not edible.
The syrup is terrible.
But we're gonna get 'em down.
- Wow.
These are really good!
- This is horrible.
Steve: The pancakes taste amazing.
The syrup was on point.
I've never made syrup.
That was delicious.
- We don't even need the syrup, but it's delicious.
- This is delic-- what happened over there?!
- [mouth very full] Don't talk to me right now!
Kaleigh: Team Green kept talkin' about how good their pancakes were, and then trashin' our pancakes, and at one point, I knew I just threw my hand up and told 'em, "Stop talkin' to me."
♪ - Yeah, c'mon, baby.
These are delicious!
Dan: That is it!
Team Green!
Congratulations!
Steve: Mm!
Dan: You are the winner of Don't Flip Out, and have earned the first Culinary Star of Excellence for your performance.
Steve: One win, it doesn't matter.
We don't let up.
I mean, 120, 110 percent the whole way, we just gotta keep our head in the game the entire way.
Dan: Now, teams, we know how you can cook.
Sort of.
But how are you at serving?
All: Ooh!
Dan: We're gonna find out in our next challenge.
It's called: Garçon En Garde!
- Huzzah!
Dan: [attempting French accent] Are you ready?
- Yeah!
- Let's go!
Steve: C'mon, let's go!
Dan: Today's second challenge is Garçon En Garde.
Taking on the role of restaurant waiters, teammates will take turns loading up serving trays with various table settings and navigating through a courtyard dining room to reach their team's table.
They must set their table to match the yellow display table, which is set correctly.
But they will have to be careful, as the opposing teammate will be throwing various bread items at the contestants.
The first team to correctly match the display table will win this challenge.
Teams, get ready for your second challenge.
It starts in three, two, one, go!
[In the Hall of the Mountain King playing] ♪ Susan: Coming into this, I felt pretty good, 'cause I used to be a server, um, so I was used to moving quickly and carrying a tray.
Kaleigh: Neither of us have ever waited tables, but he's a baseball player, I'm a softball player, I think we really do have a good advantage when it comes to knockin' things off trays.
Steve: C'mon, baby, you got this!
[Largo al factotum from The Barber of Seville playing] [glass shattering] Susan: Agh!
- Keep goin'!
Susan: So much goin' on, you got bread flyin' atcha, you're tryin' to keep things stable... [techno beat added to music] - Ow!
Being pegged with bread does not feel very good.
[slow-motion] Ow!
I got hit hard a few times.
Steve: Woo, baby!
JT: C'mon, baby, c'mon!
Kaleigh: I realize that Green has already started placing stuff on their table first, but I'm loading my tray up with as much as I possibly can first round.
Dan: Team Green with the apparent early lead, but here comes Kaleigh.
- Um!
Susan: C'mon, baby!
C'mon!
JT: Go, go, go, go, go, go, go!
Kaleigh: Aw, man!
Steve is really tryin' to get me with that bread.
But I'm doin' good about blocking, I'm using my arm and turning my back towards it.
JT: All right, start settin' it up, baby!
Steve: Throwin' that bread was a little bit harder than what I thought it was gonna be.
Susan: C'mon, baby, c'mon, c'mon, baby, baby!
Go, look at what I got, uh, go for plates, go for plates!
Steve: Team Green go for plates!
Oh gosh.
Susan: Get plates or whatever you can fit, four!
Kaleigh: Go, go, don't let nothin' touch.
I get our stuff placed, I'm feelin' good.
I hand it off to Jonathan, he takes off runnin', and off we go.
Go, go, go!
Dan: You got plenty of bread to use.
Kaleigh: C'mon, baby, c'mon.
C'mon.
- Whoa!
Kaleigh: Can't even-- turn your back to it!
[competitive music] Susan: This is a memory game, a balance game, a dodge game, I mean, putting all those together, it's gonna be a fun challenge.
- Yeah.
Kaleigh: Put it down now!
Susan: What'd you get?
Steve: Let's go!
- How many plates?
- I got, I got the saucers, I didn't get any plates!
♪ - Ow, gosh!
Steve: Sorry!
Are you okay?
Kaleigh: I'm gettin' through the course, and I get pelted in the face by Stephen.
For not aiming for my head or my face, Steve's doin' a pretty good job of making contact.
Steve: I'm sorry!!
Susan: Here, go, go, go!
Go!
Uh... Steve: What'd ya get?
Susan: We need two plates... Kaleigh: What do we need, what do we need, what do we need?
- What do we need silverware by?
Kaleigh: More glasses.
- What?
- More glasses.
Susan: It was hard to remember what all we needed along the way.
What do we need?
What do we need?
Kaleigh: C'mon, c'mon, you're doin' good, you're doin' good, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon!
Susan: With it falling off the tray, with hearing them yell, um, it was hard to keep track of.
Kaleigh: Set it all down.
Susan: C'mon, c'mon, they're catching up!
Kaleigh: Set it all down, set it all down!
Susan: What do we need?
Steve: Oh, crap, I forgot to look!
- Here's your sample table.
JT: Bowl, uh, spoon.
Steve: The objective is to recreate a sample table with all the placemats.
- This, this.
- C'mon, it's the same every time!
I'm roughly guessing, but there's about 48 pieces to this table setup.
Oh!
- No, there's more.
What do we need, what do we need, what do we need?
Steve: We need gold things, we need a, a basket!
And that's a lot to remember.
[glass shattering] Ah!
[glass shattering] Hey, what's that?
Look, it's the Goodyear blimp!
- Do we need spoons?
JT: Yes!
Susan: Block it!
Block it with your body!
- This whole challenge is complete chaos.
[Dance of the Hours playing] [glass shattering in time with music] ♪ ♪ Susan: Go, go, go, go, go!
We need more forks, baby, go, go, go!
Steve: Throw, throw, throw!
- Come on!
At this point, when it got down to gettin' the table set up, uh, we were more focused on getting that table put together instead of throwing bread.
Steve: What do you need?
They're all the same, make sure the forks are close together!
Kaleigh: That's all, that's all?
- Get the big forks, go get the big forks.
All's we need is forks, so I tell Kaleigh to go get the big forks.
- We need small forks.
We need small forks.
- Small forks?!
Susan: Yes!
Steve: Like, it's down to the last seconds, I have to make a mad dash to grab the little forks and make it back through the maze.
Susan: Go, go!
You've got the little fork on the left, the big fork on the right.
Come on!
Kaleigh: I get to the table and I realize it wasn't three big forks that we needed, we need three small forks.
Susan: C'mon!
Kaleigh: It was the little ones we need, we don't need big ones!
Susan: C'mon, baby, c'mon, c'mon!
- I get ready to tell Jonathan, "Go run and grab the three small forks," and Green calls for an inspection.
Steve: All right, let's go!
Time!
- Team Green is calling for an inspection.
- Dan comes over to our table, and man, he is meticulous.
He is lookin' at everything, fork, and napkin ring, little spoon.
Kaleigh: During the inspection, my stomach is just turnin'.
I'm hopin' there's something wrong with that table that they can't figure out.
- Stephen.
Steve: Yes?
- Susan.
You have properly set your dining room tables!
And with that comes the Culinary Star of Excellence, which means, after two challenges, Team Green, you have two stars.
Team Blue, you have no stars.
Susan: It feels really good going into the final challenge with two culinary stars.
- We're down by two, but we've still got one more challenge, that we could possibly get three stars in.
Steve: But let's not forget, you gotta have three.
The last one is three, so really, we gotta win the last one.
- We could still come out on top of this thing.
We just have to work hard.
Dan: Keep in mind, the final challenge has three stars up for grabs, which means, this is still anyone's game.
So teams, get ready for Final Feast.
[dramatic music] ♪ Dan: Well, teams, it all comes down to this.
One final challenge, spread out across the entirety of Terra Farm and Manor.
This is Final Feast.
This three-course culinary quest will test your kitchen cuisine and push your knowledge of nourishment.
So much so, in fact, that we decided you might use some sous-chefs.
Would you like that?
[contestants voice affirmation] JT: Dan says we're gettin' a sous chef, so I can't wait.
All the help I can get, I need it.
- Okay.
Chefs, please come out and meet your teams.
[emotional music] Kaleigh: [tearful laughter] - What's up, sis?
What're you doin'?
Come here!
- What's up, brother?
Kaleigh?
♪ Becky: You guys doin' good?
Steve: Yeah!
I turn around and there's my sister, Becky.
- I'm Becky.
- My sister?
- Your sister.
[laughs] Steve: It is so great to see her again, and she's gonna help us.
Becky: I got nervous and excited, and then seeing his face, he got so excited and I was like, "Aww," you know?
- I'm your brother.
JT: When I saw my brother, Anthony, my heart literally just leapt out of my chest.
- When I walked out this morning to surprise my brother, I was extremely excited.
I'd been sittin' in the room, just waiting for my turn to come out, and it just seemed like the, the seconds were minutes.
- I could not be any more happy than I am right now, knowing that we've got Anthony here with us, and having Anthony here with us just makes... the biggest difference.
He can bring us up, and he can tell us everything's gonna be okay.
♪ Dan: That's what I call a wonderful family reunion.
♪ And now, with family at your side, let's go over the specifics of this final challenge.
[tense music] Over the next two hours, you'll be tasked with creating a three-course meal.
Your first course is a pizza of your choice; consider it your starter round.
The second course is an entrée of your choice, and your third course is all about dessert.
However, unlike the first two courses, you must use one of your relatives' recipes to create your dessert.
Now, don't worry, if you didn't gather the recipes from your relatives over the past nine days, we did, and we've put them together in a recipe book that's waiting for you.
Steve: We have to cook a pizza, entrée with a side, and we gotta cook a relative recipe dessert.
We should've been paying more attention to those dessert recipes.
Dan: Any ingredients needed throughout this challenge must be sourced right here from the farm, so whether you use the dairy barn, the greenhouse, the pantry, the main kitchen, the grilling station, or the woodfire pizza oven, you literally have everything at your disposal to create culinary masterpieces.
And let's not forget, you now get to use your sous-chefs.
And remember, that's where family comes in.
They're there when you need them most, and I think you're gonna need them in this challenge.
At the end of two hours, your three-course meal will be judged based on taste and presentation by two award-winning chefs.
Each course of your meal will be worth one Culinary Star of Excellence: three courses, three stars, which means that this is still anyone's day to have.
So teams, are you ready?
All: Yes!
- Let's get it!
- Sous-chefs, are you ready?
Both: Yes!
Dan: Good.
Because your final challenge starts in three, two, one... ♪ Start cooking.
[groovy music] JT: Gotta go behind it, Kaleigh!
Kaleigh: There's a pantry with all the basic ingredients that we need, but if we need any vegetables or dairy, we have to jump on a ATV and go to the barn or the greenhouse.
Susan: What are we doing?
Steve: What do you mean?
Susan: What're you gonna start with?
Steve: Uh... Becky: C'mon, Team Green, you can do it!
Steve: We do cook three-course meals, but we always know what we're gonna cook!
Like, we plan it out!
I have no idea what we're gonna do here.
Anthony: You got it, guys.
Kaleigh: We've gotta get our pizza done first, so our strategy at this point is... JT: I'm not doin' any of the cooking, and I'm just gonna run to get her stuff, because I can't cook.
- [laughs] Steve: 'Kay, this is pizza, pizza, pizza, all right, so here's this, we're gonna need eggs and milk.
- We're gonna have to go to the farm and get that, the, the barn.
Kaleigh: Uh, we need to go get, um-- - Eggs and milk.
- Yes.
JT: So the reason we did the barn and the greenhouse first is 'cause it's such a distance.
Don't wanna have to get back out.

Steve: In the garden, we got onions, and red and green bell peppers.
Susan: We're gonna use these fresh vegetables from the garden for our pizza and our main entrée.
- Yep.
Susan: All right, put them in there, because then we're gonna go get eggs and milk.
Steve: Right now?
Susan: Yes, do it now, we're out!

[goat bleats] Kaleigh: C'mon, c'mon, c'mon.
- We went to get eggs-- Kaleigh: Let's do six.
- And some milk-- - Oh!
JT: All right.
And you had to milk a goat.
Kaleigh: Let's do it!
JT: All right, babe.
- When was the last time you milked a goat?
JT: How do you do this?
[goat bleats] I know, sweetie, I'm sorry.
Kaleigh: You have to-- go if you start at the very top, then it'll come out.
JT: I know, I don't know how to do it!
And we kind of just ran up on the goat, and so it wouldn't give us any milk.
Yeah, it's not workin'.
[goat bleats] I know, I'm sorry!
Kaleigh: D'you want me to try?
JT: Yeah.
Kaleigh: Gimme the-- gimme the jar, gimme the jar.
Gimme the jar.
JT: Easy.
[goat bleats] - I can't get it.
Do we need it that bad?
JT: We were like, okay, we can work around the milk, we don't wanna waste any more time, so we just got out of there.
Steve: Right here.
♪ That's goat milk.
Susan: Go, go, go, go, go.

We pull up to the barn, and there's an animal.
- Not a cow.
Susan: Strapped up, ready to be milked.
[goat bleats] I'm sorry!
Ooh!
What do I do?
I think I'll start to try, and um, I fail, I quickly give it over to him.
- [bleats] I'm gonna milk this sheep.
- [laughs] Fill it in there.
[goat bleats] C'mon.
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon.
It took forever to get the milk out of the sheep, so I start pettin' it, "It's okay, just give us a fourth a cup, that's all we need."
Thank you for your milk, it's okay, hey.
[clucks tongue] We're almost done.
We're almost done, just get that milk out.
Steve: Maybe Team Blue didn't treat 'er very well, but with the sheep whisperer, we got our milk.
Susan: [clucks tongue] Hey!
Steve: All right, let's go.
- All right.
Steve: And then we got the eggs, but I'm just glad we did not need a cup of this milk.
I'm usin' every drop of this sheep's milk, every drop.
- Um, I'm gonna get some mushrooms to put on the pizza.
JT: Okay.
Do we need asparagus?
Kaleigh: No, we don't need-- What do we need asparagus for?
JT: And then after the barn, we went to the greenhouse.
- We treated it as if we were goin' to the store.
Let's go.
JT: Let's get this pizza done first.
[cymbal roll] Steve: Ooh, I got stuff for you to do, darlin'.
- All right.
Steve: We decided the appetizer portion, we're gonna make backyard barbecue chicken pizza.
Susan: I mean, one of our favorite pizzas at home when we eat is barbecue chicken, so we like the base to be barbecue, with chicken and bacon, I mean... - Can't go wrong with that!
Kaleigh: Got stuff for you.
- All right, here we go.
[neck cracks exaggeratedly] - For our pizza, we decided to make a chicken alfredo pizza.
- With sautéed mushrooms.
Oh, I could, oh, I need to give him the mushrooms, have him go ahead and start doing mushrooms.
JT: Okay.
- Go rinse those off.
Meanwhile, I'll have her cut these up.
Immediately, I put my sister Becky to work, cuttin' the vegetables for the appetizer pizza.
Here, can you chop these onions up for me?
- Sure.
All right.
Um, just like thin, you know what I mean?
- So you don't want 'em, like, chopped, you want 'em sliced, then?
- Sliced, yes, please.
Becky: All right.
I was the sous-chef, and they had me chop things up, and I was very nervous about making them lose.
[laughing] You know?
- Cut all these up.
- All right.
- Can you get these ready for us?
- Thinly sliced cheese, please.
Becky: Thinly sliced.
- We tried to use my sister as much as possible, because she's got a lot of experience in cooking.
Kaleigh: This is what I got for ya.
- All right, what we doin'?
- I need you to slice these.
- Today I was extremely nervous about it.
I'm not that big in the kitchen.
When it comes in the kitchen, my wife takes the cake on it, and I don't have a dog in that race.
I'm butcherin' it.
- No, that's fine, that's fine, that's perfect.
We decide to use our sous-chef, AKA your brother, and having Anthony here with us just makes the biggest difference.
- So this is what you want, yes?
- Yes, like this, just like this.
[dramatic music] ♪ JT: If you make that, I'll be... - Extremely impressed?
- Yup, I'm gon' be like, "Look at that."
Susan: Okay, what else do you need?
- Um, I'm tryin' to make this dough, right now!
The chaos that was the appetizer portion, was the pizza crust.
No idea how to make the dough!
Becky: Come on, you got it!
- Gimme some more flour.
JT: You done this before?
- Huh?
Yeah, I've done-- it's been a while, but yeah, I have.
The only kind of dough I have ever made needs milk.
JT: And we didn't get any.
- So we're gonna have to improvise.
Soft as a baby's bottom over here, Steve!
- That's cool.
This pizza crust is kickin' my butt.
Mix it.
- How--?
- No.
- Mix it?
- Yeah, just mix it, please.
Susan: You got egg in here?
Steve: No, there's no egg!
Susan: Well, it looks like just flour, what else is there?
Steve: Oil!
- Oil and flour, that's it?
- I can't figure out how to make pizza crust to save my life.
- Spinnin' it around, but it's not doing anything, you don't have enough!

Steve: Let me look!
Okay.
Susan: It's stirrin' flour around.
Steve: Huh.
I'm like, what am I gonna do?
And then I remember: my dad's biscuits.
What's up, everybody, I'm sittin' here with my dad, Billy Ray Pruett, makin' homemade biscuits.
Look at this.
Videotape this so I don't forget, too.
Yesterday, I met my dad for the first time, and wouldn't you know it, he wanted to make his homemade biscuits with me.
So today, we're gonna use my dad's biscuit recipe for our pizza crust.
- Think about it, how do you make biscuits?
How do you make biscuits?
- Go get me the milk!
- I hope that pays off.
Biscuits are not a pizza crust.
Steve: I know.
All right, I think I'm just gonna roll with this.
♪ Susan: You don't want tons, right?
- Am I allowed to eat my own pizza?
Steve: No no no, I need you to work the front to the back.
Susan: Okay, all right, go.
♪ Kaleigh: Right now, we've got our pizza in; for the first time today, I feel like we're actually ahead, and we're actually doin' good and have a good plan goin' for us.
♪ Kaleigh: Just bring everything in.
Bring it in, bring it in.
Anthony: Oh, yeah.
I'd buy that.
Kaleigh: [laughs] I pulled our pizza out of the oven so we can go ahead and start on our main dish.
It's a little lumpy, but at least it's gonna taste good.
JT: You want me to go start that other chicken?
- Um, that's not gonna, I'm not puttin' that on the grill.
- You're not gonna put that on the grill, you're gonna sautée it?
- I'm gonna fry it.
For our entrée with a side, I decided to go with chicken parm because you just can't mess that up, and my pasta that I always make, it's creamy parmesan broccoli pasta.
Hey, I need somethin' to put this in.
Like a, um, skillet.
Steve: So, let's do... cook time, oh, wow.
There's no way we coulda made that.
Susan: Four hours.
Steve: With our pizza cooking in the oven, we pull out our relative dessert recipe book to try to find the best possible recipe.
We shoulda looked through these better.
Uh... pineapple upside-down cake!
We decided the dessert recipe, we're gonna make, uh, pineapple upside-down cake is my sister Becky's favorite cake, and it was her recipe, so we decided to go with it.
Susan: So look.
Steve: Yeah.
- The oven's pre-heated, we need to grease the pan with cooking spray... "with cooking spray, with flour."
What does that even mean?
Steve: Let me go get it.
- And we can actually, do you wanna do like a-- Oh, that was way too much salt.
Steve: We need three eggs, right?
Susan: I don't know.
- Well, one's broke, and I had to use one.
- I told you we shoulda got more eggs!
- Okay!
Kaleigh: I'm just gonna wait for this to heat up, and then put the chicken in.
Susan: We need more eggs?
Seriously?
We're gonna have to go get eggs?
Steve: Yes.
- We needed more eggs.
We had to go back to the barn.
I'm just glad we didn't have to re-milk the sheep.
Steve: Ah, me too.
Come on, let's go!
Susan: Fifty grand, we gotta pull it together.
- Our pizza!!

We can't leave without our pizza!
Susan: Our pizza's in the oven!
- [laughs] - So we have to, "Wait!"
We didn't want it to burn.
- Forgot the pizza!
- So we get out and run back in, and get the pizza out.
Steve: Oh my gosh.
Susan: Where you gonna put the pizza over there?
- Go put it in the kitchen, don't drop it!
It's so good, too, because that sucker was ready to come out.
Kaleigh: I went ahead and started on the chicken.
And it's absolutely amazing.
- I got two.
- I got three.
Is that enough?
- Yeah.
Susan: Are we sure?
- Let's go, let's go!
Kaleigh: Do we have any regular forks?
JT: Yeah, I couldn't find any regular forks.
Kaleigh wanted a fork, so I go around looking for a fork everywhere.
- No regular forks anywhere?
Like, how am I supposed to check my chicken without a regular fork?
JT: And so I just start openin' all the drawers, and it starts to fall over.
[clattering and shattering] Kaleigh: Are you serious right now?
- And as I catch it, a vase falls off of it and just shatters everywhere.
Now we gotta clean up this mess, and we can't afford any more time lost, so I'm just gonna let her cook, and I'm gonna clean up my mess.
- No cake pan!
Susan: We need a cake pan to make this dessert.
I don't know what to do without a cake pan.
I'm lookin' around, trying to find anything I can, and I don't know what to use.
Steve: That makes sense.
Complete sense.
We have to cook this cake somehow, and it's not like we can fry it in a skillet.
Susan: Like, I've never made an upside-down pineapple cake, and we don't even have a pan to cook it in.
How are we supposed to bake a cake?
- Look, just use this!
Move this, we'll just use this.
- You can put that in an oven?
- Yeah.
- Okay, all right.
[dramatic music] Kaleigh: At this point I'm on pasta, I'm doin' the sauces, I'm cookin' the broccoli for the pasta.
- You're done with this?
- I'm done with that, and I'm working on the sauce for the pasta now.
- "Pour melted butter in the bottom of the pan, sprinkle brown sugar evenly over top."
JT: Brrrother!
I need this in thin slices.
Watch out, it squirts on ya.
- Thin slices, got it, comin' right up, man.
Susan: What else?
Steve: All right.
Susan: What's next, come on, baby.
- And then pour the milk and pineapple juice in there.
Kaleigh: Okay, we gotta keep that pasta goin'... ♪ - I need the recipe.
- You mix it all.
- I know, but this looks really thick.
The whole thing was stressful, so we got my sister Becky, she drove the dessert, this being her dessert, I thought it was a great idea.
Hey, Becky?
- Yes?
- If I bring you all the ingredients for this dessert, and I read you instructions, can you make this dessert?
- Oh, yeah.
- All right, let's do that!
So I need you to line the pineapples and alternate-- - We got this, bubba, it's my recipe.
It's gonna be hard in this pan, maybe we should lay 'em down.
Steve: Yeah, let's do that.
Becky: Let's do that, and go like this, because it, you need that other pan to make 'em stand up.
♪ Dan: Kaleigh, JT, how's it goin'?
What're you workin' on?
Kaleigh: Good, um, we got the pasta done, chicken parm is comin' out.
- You guys mind?
JT: Go for it, man.
- Hand me that wooden spoon, will ya?
Kaleigh: Dan comes in and decides he wants to take a bite of my pasta.
[light guitar music] I'm really nervous about it, but as soon as he takes a bite, he gives me a thumbs up, and he goes: - 'S pretty good.
Kaleigh: Good!
[sighs] Best moment of the day, by far.
Dan: What, what do we got?
- This is gonna be the best pineapple upside-down cake you've ever had.
Dan: Really?
Steve: Yes, sir.
Dan: Which one of your relatives' recipe?
- That's Becky's.
- Really?
- Yeah, my sous-chef.
- We love Dan.
- Absolutely.
- But he kept comin' in and checkin' to see how we're doin', and um, I'm already havin' a hard time focusing.
- That might be a really smart move, to use your sous-chef's recipe.
- You know, Dan, I thought so!
- And so, I'm just like, "Yeah, okay, bye, Dan!"
[laughs] Dan: Good luck, guys.

- We're at thirty minutes, and so, for dessert-- JT: For dessert, we made a strawberry shortcake.
Kaleigh: It was his sister's recipe out of the recipe book, so it just seemed fitting.
Susan: All right, what's next?
Baby, we gotta start on second meal.
Steve: All right, so, we're gonna start on the main course here.
For our entrée, we're gonna make a ribeye pepper steak sandwich.
Susan: Um, on the side, we're goin' with broccoli.
Steve: Texas backyard style.
You can't go wrong with steak and cheese and peppers.
Kaleigh: So Team Green's using their sous-chef building their dessert for them, and I'm thinkin', that's kinda smart.
But the only thing I needed our sous-chef to do was cut up strawberries, which we don't have yet.
All right, let's go get strawberries, let's go, let's go.
[lively music] Steve: The meats, all of 'em, are gettin' grilled.
You know why?
'Cause that's what we do.
We grill.
Becky: You got it.
Steve: [laughs] - You got it.
Kaleigh: We're just gonna do strawberries, I need to get good ones, Jonathan, I want it to be good!
Anthony: I knew they were makin' the strawberry shortcake as soon as I seen 'em with the cakes, and then they had the strawberries, I was like, "Aha, got it."
- This all good stuff?
- Yeah, man.
- 'Kay, love you.
- Love you too, brother, you got it.
It takes so much for me not to eat all the strawberries.
That is one of my go-tos, I love 'em to death.
JT: How's them strawberries comin', buddy?
Anthony: Hey man, they're done, are you ready?
- Yup, right here.

- Dropped one.
Susan: How long is that gonna take to cook?
- A steak cooks about nine, twelve minutes.
- Okay.

Steve: Uh, let me go look.
Susan: I was feeling frustrated, and a little confused and lost, and tryin' to get Steve to tell me what to do, but he was frantic.
Anthony: You can slow down and catch your breath if you'd like.
- Oh, well, thanks, yeah, I appreciate that.
Anthony: Not a problem!
Steve: Oh wait, you're from Team Blue!
- [laughs] Kaleigh: Ahhh.... [dramatic music] - Is, is there something we can do to soften that up?
Steve: Well, we're gonna grill it, so... - Well, hopefully they like crusty bread.
- Hey, you wanna crush up some of that pie crust and put some pie crust over it?
Kaleigh: Yes!

- The entrée that we're about to make, I've only made once.
May be a little risky.
It was really good the last time I made it!

Susan: Three minutes.

♪ Kaleigh: Cool Whip and then pie crust, it just makes it look pretty.
Steve: Oh, it looks good!

Steve: Hey, how's it goin'?
Chef James: Howdy.
My name is James Porter, and I'm the culinary visionary for Terra Farm and Manor.
- I'm Michael John Coe, certified master baker #105.
Chef James: I started in this industry about 28 years ago, spent about 15 years in the boutique hotel business around the world, and then I spent the last 15 years in my own owner-operator endeavors.
Chef MJ: I've been in the food industry for 37 years now.
I've always had a focus on breads, but in the food operations, everything's the same, be it culinary, pastry, or bakin'.
Everything gets seasoned, there's balance, time, and temperature.
[cool beat] Chef James: You know, I think the contestants on Relative Race as an amateur coming into the competition, time management is what it comes down to.
Using the least amount of ingredients, bold flavors, but time management.
Hot food hot, cold food cold.
♪ Chef MJ: I am so excited to see what the contestants produced in the simplest form.
Cookin' is love, it's an expression of love towards your friends and family.
Dan: Gentlemen, thanks for being here.
Our judges will be making their decisions based on two criteria: taste and presentation.
Once they make their decision, I'll deliver the final results and the $50,000.

Dan: Let's get started!
[Italian-style music] ♪ Judges, in front of you is the first course, the pizza platters.
Enjoy.
Both: Thank you.
Chef James: Team Green, what's the name and inspiration of your pizza?
Steve: So that is the backyard barbecue chicken pizza.
It's one of our favorites, so it's got barbecue sauce, grilled chicken, bacon, onions, and bell peppers, all put together on a wonderful pizza.
♪ We absolutely got nervous.
We're not professional chefs, so the feedback on our appetizer was pretty surprising.
♪ - MJ?
- It has more of a biscuit texture, I'm finding, rather than developed dough.
Chef James: But I do like the barbecue.
The caramelized onions on top of it, actually, I think do mix in with that biscuit, all things considering.
Kaleigh: When the chefs started talkin' nice about Team Green's pizza, I did get nervous.
- How did you make your crust?
- Well, I didn't know how to make pizza dough, but I just learned how to make biscuits from scratch with my dad, so I kinda incorporated that.
- Okay.
- I like it.
Chef MJ: Blue Team?
- Ours is just a chicken alfredo pizza, it has grilled chicken, um, alfredo sauce, and then it has sautéed mushrooms.
We decided to go with a more Italian-style pizza, because I am Italian, and this is something I learned to make when I was younger, so.
Chef MJ: Awesome.
[dramatic music] JT: The chefs are funny, like, you'll put a dish down in front of 'em and they'll be like, "Hmm."
- "Hmm..." ♪ [small cough] JT: And I'm like, I wanna know what that means, like, come on, tell me!
- Is it good, is it bad?
- I think for me, the, the thickness of it is very challenging, because when you look at it, it's still... there's some rawness to it.
Kaleigh: We look at our pizza, it's not done.
JT: It's just a blob of dough on a... woodblock.
- Like a ten-year-old made it.
Chef James: Um, and so you get that raw flavor in your, in your mouth.
Again, though, I think the alfredo and the mushrooms, those are home run combinations in my book of goin', "Wow, I could eat a lot of that."
Chef MJ: General rule of thumb I would always go by, the drier the crust, the thinner.
Topping's really good, just gettin' through the rest is difficult.
- But I think overall, I think you guys did a great job.
Dan: So judges, have you had enough time to make your decision?
♪ - I think so, yeah.
Chef MJ: Yes.
Dan: Please make your mark.
Kaleigh: When the chef says that they know who they're choosin' for the pizza, I'm a little nervous.
JT: I'm extremely nervous.
Kaleigh: They critiqued us a good bit, but they also critiqued them, so, there's no tellin'.
[marker squeaking] Singer: [speaking rhythmically] ♪ Così ♪ ♪ La cucina te la fai tu ♪ [Italian music] - Judges, in front of you now is always the most important part of any meal, the main course.

What're we lookin' at here?
Kaleigh: 'Kay, so, I went with chicken parm, and the side dish is a parmesan cream broccoli pasta.
Chef MJ: Okay.
[dramatic music] ♪ Kaleigh: At this point I'm really nervous about it, but as soon as he takes a bite, I knew I had cooked that perfectly, so.
My grandma'd be proud of me frying some chicken.
- I think a lot of times in the process of cooking a big chicken breast of sorts, it's just making sure that the temperature is fully cooked.
So my number one thing.
- And was it?
- It was spot on.
Which tells me that your technique on how you do things, again, you're aiming in the right direction.
Kaleigh: They said that my chicken was cooked all the way through, and it was perfect.
I mean, I couldn't ask for a better critique than that.
- To me, this is very close to your pizza.
Everything on here has cheese.
Chef James: There is a lot of redundancy, so your palate lays pretty flat.
I would've probably done it a little bit different, um, but pasta cooked perfectly.
- Team Green.
What do we got here?
- What you got there is a ribeye and pepper sandwich, so it's basically like a ribeye cheesesteak, and uh, we got bratwurst garnish with a little bit of broccoli, uh, because you can never have too much meat.
♪ - That's excellent.
That's awesome.
Susan: I was feelin' really confident goin' in to the entrées.
They really seemed to like the ribeye.
But then... - First thing I notice is color difference.
♪ Chef James: Yeah.
Chef MJ: Breadwise?
Yes.
Chef James: Yeah.
Susan: But we just did a little too much with the, what we thought was presentation, but-- Steve: Yeah.
We're not professional chefs, so we thought we were being fancy, but-- Susan: But it was too much, so-- Steve: But it was too much.
I like options, so, I mean, I just kinda stuck with that.
- So options, in our business, get us in trouble.
- Okay.
Chef James: If we were sitting dining together, and we both ordered this plate together, and I looked at his and he looked at mine, we would start wondering what's going on, just because of the difference.
Kaleigh: Clearly the professional chefs didn't care for that.
Maybe should've done somethin' a little different.
- Would you like another bite, or have you had enough to make a decision?
Chef MJ: I think I'm good.
Steve: Team Blue's feedback was that everything had cheese in it, and that it could've used something acidic-y.
So, I mean, it wasn't positive.
We still got a lot of hope.
[thoughtful music] ♪ Dan: Chefs, in front of you now happens to be my absolute favorite course of any meal, and that is dessert.
And you're going to begin with Team Green.
- What is this?
Steve: That is a pineapple upside-down pudding cake, and we stuck with the relative, and it just so happened this is my sister Becky's recipe, so.
Chef James: Wow, so a little family heritage into the mix.
Steve: It's her favorite cake as well.
[funky music] ♪ They bite into our dessert, I can't tell if they like it or not.
- I don't know, but it didn't look good.
[dramatic music] - Here's a personal pet peeve of mine.
It's a little big, it's a little bit dry.
- That's the biggest thing that sticks out to me.
Flavorwise, I like it.
- Thank you.
Dan: All right, judges, try what Team Blue cooked up for dessert.
- Strawberry shortcake?
Kaleigh: It's as simple as it looks.
This was actually his sister's recipe, it's one of her favorite desserts, and he just met her last week, so it made us happy to make it.
♪ - I love, I love those strawberries.
- Yeah.
- Like, I love the maceration of the strawberries.
And what'd you do with the berries?
- The strawberries, I just simply put them in a skillet with sugar and, just, you know, cooked 'em until they were... you know, kinda syrupy.
I was actually extremely surprised that they liked my strawberries, 'cause I've actually made some better strawberries than that before, so I was expecting a critique there, but I didn't get one.
- It's straightforward, it's not overly complex in the ingredients and flavors, you get what it is.
Dan: All right, judges.

♪ [marker squeaks] ♪ I now know who has won this challenge, and who is the winner of Relative Race.
I wanna start with my favorite part of any meal: that's dessert.
Team Blue, the judges seemed to like your simplistic approach, Team Green, you made a very colorful pineapple pudding upside-down cake.
In the end, Team Blue, you have picked up the Culinary Star of Excellence for your dessert.
- We get the first star for dessert, and I was thrilled, 'cause we hadn't gotten a star all day, but I'm still nervous about these other two, 'cause I have no idea what they chose.
Dan: Team Blue has picked up their first star, and we move to the main entrée.
Team Green, you put a really interesting spin on a Philly cheesesteak.
Team Blue, your main entrée seemed to have a lot of cheese, but they really enjoyed your pasta.
In the end, the judges did make their decision.
Team Blue, you have picked up your second Culinary Star of Excellence in the main entrée.
Kaleigh: We get the star for the entrée and I immediately start tearin' up, and it was just an amazing feeling.
I didn't feel defeated anymore.
- When Dan announced that Team Blue got the main entrée... that was really hard to hear.
- And that means, Team Green, you have two culinary stars.
Team Blue, you have two culinary stars.
Steve: We start freakin' out, 'cause then it's tied.
We have two, they have two, at this point, it's anybody's game.
Kaleigh: I can't catch my breath, because I realize we are still in this, we could still possibly get this, and we could be winners.
Dan: So it all comes down to those pizzas.
Team Green, you made a barbecue chicken pizza.
Team Blue, yours was more traditional.
Susan: I hope what we did for the appetizer is enough.
I mean, that's what it's come down to.
Dan: The crusts were very different, and in the end...
Team Green, you have picked up your third star.
With that, you have won this competition.
You have found family, you've created those lifelong memories, and you are the winner of Relative Race!
[triumphant music] ♪ Dan: $50,000 isn't bad for ten days of a race unlike any other.
Now it's official.
Steve: It's official.
- Congratulations, man.
♪ - [sniffles] C'mere!
♪ - Woo!
We won!
- They literally worked their tails off this entire season, and they earned every second of that.
Susan: Our number one goal coming into this was to be able to meet every relative.
To get to Day Nine, that was our immediate goal, Day Nine.
- Going into this, I didn't expect any of this to be possible.
Regardless if you win Day Ten, everybody wins.
Everybody gets a new family.
And I mean, that's what we did this show for.
- This whole journey has been amazing.
Every day, I filled in holes and answers, met new family, and then on top of it on the last day we win?
There's nothin' like this.
- Now I get to start building these lifelong relationships that I never had.
I can't wait to sit back and hang out with all my brothers, my sister, and my father.
- I had so many questions, and then after Day One, I was afraid I wasn't gonna get the answers, and then Day Four when I met my sister Jen and I did get those answers, and then later on I got to meet the Pruett side, and my father, and all my brothers and sisters, words can't describe how that made me feel, and how much wholer I'm goin' home as.
