Dan: And Rachelle discovered an important uncle, leading her one step closer to finding her father.
- There are only three left.
Dan: Angie learned the circumstances involved with her adoption.
- She didn't wanna give you up, but she wanted to make sure that you were gonna be okay.
Dan: And Tiffani saw the first images of her maternal grandparents.
- Hopefully, there are other family members out there who can give me some more answers.
Dan: DNA tells us who we are and where we came from.
Following their own DNA, four teams are racing... - Woo!

[knocking] Singer: ♪ Oh, oh, oh, oh, ♪ ♪ Oh-oh-oh ♪ ♪ Oh, oh, oh, oh ♪ ♪ Oh-oh-oh ♪ ♪ Oh, oh, oh, oh ♪ ♪ Oh-oh-oh ♪ ♪ Dan: Day 3 of Relative Race dawns in our nation's heartland.
Team Black, our soon-to-be newlyweds, Kyle and Layton, begin their day in Wichita, Kansas, after receiving their first strike of the race last night.
Layton: It was disappointing to get a strike, but, I mean, it's better to get it out of the way early on, and, plus we got to meet Brayden and Jacob, so it doesn't really matter.
- So we went ahead and got you some gifts.
- Okay.
- So the first one we're gonna do, we got for your wedding.
- Okay.
- So, Brayden... Layton: Oh, is this one of the electric kettles?
Brayden: Yes.
Jacob: Yes.
- Okay, I drink warm drinks even in the summer, so this is gonna be fantastic.
- Good, okay.
The second one has a little bit more to do with the family.
- Okay.
- So this one is a blanket from Grandma.
She sent it to us so that way we could give it to you because unfortunately, she couldn't be here.
- Is this Grandma Connie?
- Yes, Grandma Connie.
So, I'll let you open that.
Layton: My biological dad's mom, or my biological grandma, was not able to be there on the show, and so, she still wanted to be there in spirit, and so she sent a gift along with Brayden and Jacob to give to me.
Jacob: It's a Cherokee blanket from the Cherokee tribe, and Grandma had bought it and got it for you.

That is gorgeous.
I love that.
For them to be able to give me a gift is so incredible because it's not something I would expect, but when it's something like the blanket that has something tied to our family history, it's something that means a lot more.
♪ Dan: 800 miles to the east, in the southern pines of Jasper, Georgia, Team Blue, the cousin combo of Rachelle and Karim, are strike-free, and after finishing in first place last night, they get to go shopping today.
- The first-place prize we won is really, really cool.
It's $400 to go spend on our next relative that we're gonna meet tonight.
Viv: Yeah, guys, this is our church, Pilgrim Baptist Church.
Rachelle: Wow.
This morning, my Uncle Anthony and my Aunt Viv decide to show us the family church, and that church has been in the family for generations.
- I was born and raised in this church.
It was established in 1910, and since then, in 2004, it was chosen as a historic site for Cherokee County, and it's been in my family since the 1930s.
All my sisters and brothers, we were baptized in the pool outside.
Rachelle: I can really feel the connection and history of the family in this church, and, um, Karim and I are really spiritual people, so, it was just such a profound moment to be in this space.
- The mothers of the church, you know, they left me with the deeds and everything and told me to make sure that I kept the doors open, so that's what I do.
- You know, that's why I took this journey.
I wanted to know where my roots are from, and I can feel it here.
Dan: Team Green, the sisters-in-law, begin their third day of Relative Race in the Northeast.
They'll be leaving from Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
The girls have one strike as Angie's discovery of her family continues to unfold.
Stephanie: Angie, me and Ricky got ya a little gift to show you a little bit more of your family.
- Oh, wow, thank you.
Stephanie: And this is the family tree, so... Angie: Oh, this is great 'cause we've been getting a little confused with all the names.
There was a lot of people, so this is what we needed to keep everything straight.
Seeing my mom's photo for the first time and then today, um, seeing a family tree and seeing how everyone falls in the family, it's amazing, and it's just awesome to know that I'm going to continue to meet everybody over the next seven days.
Stephanie: This is your grandfather.
His name's Robert Roy Geyer, junior.
That's your grandmother.
Angie: Grandmother.
Stephanie: Yeah.
Her name's Betty Lou.
She was 55 years when she died.
Angie: Oh, wow.
Stephanie: And he was 74 when he died.
- Okay.
It is hard knowing that I don't get to meet my grandparents.
That's a little sad that, that that never got to happen.

♪ Dan: Team Red, Tiffani and Jose, are waking up on the West Coast in Medford, Oregon.
[bacon sizzling] Tiffani: We are cooking breakfast this morning and hangin' out with my cousin, Amy.
My husband cooked for us this morning, which is, which is a rarity and so very nice.
His cooking wasn't that bad.
All right, babe, how's that breakfast coming?
- It's coming.
Tiffani: All right.
- You can't rush quality.
Tiffani: [laughs] - Got some breakfast, got some rest.
- We did, we got some rest.
I think we slept... - Probably our first-- - Probably the first time we slept for four hours, five hours in a row.
So, we're feeling good, we're rested, we're ready to go hit the road and see what's gonna happen today.
[intense music] - Oh, we got a text from Dan.
Kyle: Hey guys, I got the message!
Layton: I guess we're gonna find out where we're goin', now.
- Find out where we're goin' real quick.
Kelly: "Good morning, teams, and welcome to Day 3 of Relative Race."
- "Team Red will be travelling to Palo Cedro, California."
- "Team Blue will be travelling to Atlanta, Georgia."
- Okay.
- "Team Black, you will be travelling to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma."
- "Team Green will be travelling to Harrisburg, PA." Stephanie: Yeah!
Ricky: Yeah, you guys were just-- - We know how to get there.
Ricky: Exactly.
- "Today's first-place prize is penalizing one of the other teams at tomorrow's challenge."
- "Your time starts now."
- Okay.
- Let's go, let's go!
Kelly: We gotta pack the car, we gotta go!
Angie: All right, we gotta go!
Karim: Aunt Vivian.
Rachelle: Love y'all.
Karim: We gotta go!
♪ Rachelle: So their church is literally down the street from my Uncle Anthony's house, so we gotta run back, grab all our stuff, pack it in, and get on the road.
Tiffani: Thank you so much.
Angie: Bye, Stephanie.
Ricky: Nice to meet you.
Stephanie: Love you.
Kyle: We will see you soon, okay?
Rachelle: Love y'all.

Karim: To Atlanta.
♪ Layton: 'Kay, I'm gonna go that way.
I know the freeway's at least that way.
Kyle: Yeah, go ahead and take a right.
However you know how to get to the freeway.
- Well, I don't know how to get to the freeway.
Dan: Team Black, Layton and Kyle, are leaving Wichita, Kansas, and making their way to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
They have an allotted time today of 2 hours and 14 minutes.
Angie: We're going the wrong way.
We need to turn around on this road.

Dan: Still in their home state, with an apparent advantage, Team Green, Angela and Kelly, are leaving Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and heading to Harrisburg.
They have an allotted time of 1 hour and 12 minutes.
Kelly: Oh, see, look, this is the three-way that she was talking about.
Angie: Oh, we definitely came out a little different, but that's okay.
Tiffani: She said turn right after the railroad tracks.
- After the railroad tracks.
So, keep going, keep going.
Trust me, trust me.
Dan: Today, Team Red, Tiffani and Jose, continue to navigate down the coast of Oregon.
They'll travel from Medford en route to Palo Cedro, California.
They have an allotted time of 2 hours and 48 minutes.
Rachelle: Uncle Anthony, um, told us that our next relative was doing a lot of home improvement.
We thought the best way to provide service would be a home-improvement card.
Dan: And with an off-the-clock shopping spree, Team Blue, the cousins, Rachelle and Karim are leaving Jasper, Georgia, and making their way to Atlanta.
They have the shortest allotted time of the day, and in fact, the shortest allotted time ever on Relative Race, of only 48 minutes.
Rachelle: Lane up ahead.
♪ Team Red, Team Green, and Team Black.
All right, how do we wanna share some love with them?

- Oh, that's cute.
Both: [laugh] - That's awesome.
- Proably sucking up, huh?
- So then I said: "Love you all..." - Team Green said Ooo, yes, love that energy.
♪ - One of the most interesting things about us and Team Red is that we both speak Spanish.
- So we're able to have our own fun text thread with Jose and Tiffani.
Kyle: Team Red, you're gonna get the, uh, Which translates to Spanish, good day, old people.

- I think it's fun that Team Black knows how to speak Spanish, but I don't think they meant to call us old.

[laughs] Tiffani: I'm kind of bummed that they, they don't have a lot of information about my mom.
Meeting my cousins Charley and Amy has been wonderful, but, knowing that they weren't close to my mother's kind of unfortunate.
That's kind of a bummer, like, not to, to get some answers, like, right off the bat, but... - Yeah.
- I just wanna know who my mom is, and, as the race continues, I just hope I get the answers I'm looking for.
- No, I don't think, yeah, I don't think-- it sounds like they were, um, 'cause they were kind of our age.
It sounds like she's been gone for a while, so... ♪ Layton: Tourist center, next right.
- Palo Cedro, right, right, right.
- I'm turning, I'm turning.
Kelly: It's Harrisburg, it's right there.
Angie: Pull up, pull up!
Karim: There, right there.
Oh, that's even better, that's a better one.
Kyle: Slam that thing into park.
Both: Let's go.
- So we saw a tourist center, and we thought that they would for sure have a detailed map of the city.
- And possibly, we could take our city selfie there.
- That's totally fine.
- Go, go, go, go, go.
Tiffani: All right, set it up, you set it up.
Angie: 'Kay, give me the phone.
Show me where to go.
Karim: Uh, uh, uh.
- Right here, right here.
Okay, here you go.

Tiffani: It's good, it's good, it's good.

- Oh, I'm usin' it like a touch screen phone.

Kyle: Yeah, that's nice.
♪ - Yo, I see the sign.

Angie: Okay, let's go.
- Go.
Layton: Do you see it?
- Welcome to Candelabra Classic.
Dan: Day 3's challenge is Candelabra Classic.
To complete this challenge, teams must use water guns to knock balls off of an eight foot candelabra.
The balls on the lower level should be easier to knock off and have individual numbers on them that make up a code to unlock a combination box, while the top yellow ball should be harder to knock off, but it contains all three numbers to unlock the box.
Inside the box is their relative's address.
Rachelle: All right, let's go.
♪ Angie: I have never used one of these before, so.
♪ Kyle: Oh, that close.
♪ Jose: Ready, go.
Harder than it looks.
Nope.
Harder.
Angie: When we first pick up the water guns and try it, we realize this is not gonna be as easy as we thought it was gonna be.
Kelly: We'll figure it out, we'll figure it out.
Layton: We started out the challenge, we figured go for the close one, and then Kyle knocked that down pretty simply.
Rachelle: The water gun is so hard to pull.
It's-- I'm exerting all of my upper-body strength.
I'm not getting a good stream of water.
It's really, really difficult.
Angie: Okay.
Jose: There we go.
Tiffani: Okay, got it.
Right away, we get the purple ball knocked off, but there's no code on it, there's no number.
- That ball does not have a number on it.
- There's no number.
Of course, there's no number on that one, okay.
- So we immediately need to go to the next one.
Jose: [grunts] Harder than it looks, no?
Harder.
Tiffani: We decided to go for the combination on top, thinking that one was gonna be the easiest.
- Okay, let's both shoot at the yellow one, same time.
Angie: All right.
Rachelle: I was trying to hit the yellow top one, but, I didn't come close.
Jose: Not putting enough pressure on that, babe.
Tiffani: Okay, well, that's all the pressure I got.
Turns out it was a lot harder than we thought to reach it.
♪ Kyle: Oh, beautiful!
Layton: Oh!
Kyle: Put the gun down.
Layton: Get it, get it, get it, get it.
- Fairly easy for me.
I'm not gonna lie.
I felt like this was, I mean, three shots, that's all I took.
Code: 526!
I'd be very surprised if Team Blue or Team Red had not knocked off the top yellow ball.
Team Green, I could even see them doing it.
Angie: No, it can't even reach it.
That doesn't even reach.
Layton: As soon as we knock the yellow ball off, all the numbers in the correct order for the lockbox that had the address were written on the ball.

So we get down the second ball, and I'm feeling good because at least we're one step closer to getting the combination.
Angie: Okay, Kelly!
It hit, 'kay, it's a big number, so good.
Angie: What number is it?
- Two!
Jose: Get low, go.
Muy bien!
Tiffani: I got it, I got it.
Karim: You ready?
Rachelle: Mm-hm Very good.
Karim: Go get it, go get it, go get it.
Angie: Five, I see it's a five.
Karim: Five, right?
Rachelle: Mm-hm.
Karim: All right.
Dan: By virtue of attacking the yellow ball, Layton and Kyle have the early lead and are now back on the road.
- Turning right.
- Turning, take a right.

Layton: That's 16th Terrace.
♪ Kelly: Okay, now we're gonna have to hit the, the candelabra to get the blue ball closer.
Karim: Our new strategy is continue to hit the empty candelabras so it can spin around and the blue ball goes to the front.
Kelly: At some points, we were aiming at the pillar, and the ball was going back.
- Now it's just going back the other way!
Tiffani: We need to do it at the same time.
Same time, same time.
Jose: One, two, three, go.
[grunts] Tiffani: Okay.
Karim: One more, one more.
All right, come on, come on.
Rachelle: You ready to shoot it?
Karim: Yeah.

- Yeah.
Angie: 'Kay.

- We stop, and we get directions really fast.
This gentleman gave us great directions.
- Thank you.

- When we're driving, following his directions, we realize we must have missed something because we are lost.

- See how there's, there's a street that cuts off back there?

We had no idea where we're going.
We took the main road to look for the address, drove a couple blocks, and then ran right into the street we were looking for.

Karim: So this is Jackson Street.

Rachelle: 70, but I don't know-- - 70 Jackson Street?
- Yes, but I don't know if we're on Jackson Street.

Karim: Good.

Karim: We passed it.
Angie: We passed it?
- The numbers goin' down, they're not goin' up.
Rachelle: We were doing so good, and then we actually passed the house, and so, since it's a one-way street, we have to go all the way back around to get to it.
- So we'll go back up this street, and then we gotta go back down it again.
Rachelle: At this point, we're really stressed, 'cause every second and every minute counts.
Kyle: Since this is the last 1000, this next one will be 1000, 900'll be on the next side.
Angie: Okay, I see, like, we're kinda clearin' up here, all right.
- Okay.
Angie: Okay, 2nd Street, and then next will be Front.
- Okay.
It's 809, so we gotta try to figure out if we're goin' left or right.
Angie: Okay.
Karim: We gotta go back to the beginning, 'cause that's, that, it's, it's the first, it's on the, it's the first right house.
Rachelle: Okay.
Tiffani: 467-- - 4658, 46, 658, 4658.
Kyle: All right, 17th, there it is.
Right between that 18th Street, so go ahead and take a left.
Jose: Right there, right there, right there, [jumbles together] - 943, so it's gonna be on our right side, and it's gonna be at the end of the block.
♪ [anticipatory music] ♪ Tiffani: Hi!
[chuckles] Whose relative are you?
- I'm your relative, I'm your uncle.
- You're my uncle?
- Yes.
♪ Tiffani: Yeah?
- [sighs] Tiffani: [sniffing] Buford: I'm Buford.
Jose: I'm Jose.
Tiffani: Sorry, this is my husband, Jose.
Buford: Jose.
Tiffani.
- Yes.
- Wow.
- Lift...
I have your eyes!
Kind of, yours are more blue.
- Mine are bicentennial.

Tiffani: Ni-- yes!
- [laughs] - My kinda guy.
Buford: Yeah.
[chuckles] - Always wondered.
Buford: Yep.

- [laughs] - It was like lookin' in a mirror and seein' her mom, uh, right there.
It was the most amazing feeling I've had in my entire life.
- It felt like somebody I have known my whole life.
Like, I'm just greeting a family member I hadn't seen in a long time.
Buford: Well, nice to see you guys, man.
Tiffani: Oh, it's so nice.
Thank you so much for... Jose: She's been waiting a long time to... - I've been waiting a long time for this, so thank you.
Buford: I have, oh well, I never even knew it until just recently, so... Tiffani: Well, that's good.
- It's good.
I'm glad to see you.
This is emotional.
- Very welcoming, yeah.

Jose: And that.
Tiffani: Yep.
Same for me.
Buford: Yeah.
See, I got really emotional, I mean, she was just like, I saw my sister again, I saw my sister in her, and I, and I haven't, you know, seen my sister for a long, long time.

Tiffani: I didn't expect anything like that.
It was so comforting and so welcoming.

I'm Rhonda Huish.

I'm Kyle and this is Layton.

Kyle: Right on, we're actu-- Layton: Who are you related to?
- Who do you think I'm related to do?
Kyle: Well, I'm gonna point to her-- - I've never heard the name Huish, so I'm just like... Kyle: Are you right?
- Kyle, I am your aunt.
- Hi.

Layton: That's been a long time comin'.
Rhonda: I knew he was part of my family.
I don't know that you can explain it in words.
It's one of those innate feelings that you get when you hug a long-lost friend.
I was adopted at two days old.
- Were you really?
Rhonda: Yep.
Kyle: I knew there was an aunt on my father's side that was out there.
I'm just super surprised that I got to meet her on this show, and I'm, I'm so excited to share with her my whole family and our story, and get to introduce her to everybody.
Layton: Hi.
I was like, "I want a hug!"
Rhonda: [laughs] Layton: How are you, beautiful girl?
Kyle: This is my fiancée, by the way.
- Pleased to meet you.
Layton: I was adopted, too.
Yes, ma'am.
Rhonda: I actually have been searching for family for about four years.
- Oh really?
Rhonda: Um, my adoptive mom gave me permission to search to find my biological mother to tell her thank you.
Layton: Okay.
Rhonda: So, yeah.
- So you've been looking for a while.
Rhonda: And I did a DNA test, and it hit on my biological father, instead.
Kyle: Yeah?
[laughs] Rhonda: So, surprise!
Meeting Kyle for the first time today was amazing.
I have not had nephews of that age in my life, ever.
Kyle: She's one of the most amazing people I've ever met in my entire life, and it was one of the biggest surprises ever.
♪ Angie: Hey, look, there's Front Street!
- Front Street, Front Street, okay.
Left, right...?
Angie: Left.
- So this is the turn.
- Mm-hm.

Angie: We met Ricky and Stephanie, but they didn't mention that they had a sister, Tina.
I've been asking everyone this, and I kind of know the answer, but you've known about me for, for a long time, since before just recently?
- Yes.
Angie: I mean, I kind of knew the answer to that, but... - I am very excited.
You don't even realize.
I got up bright and early this morning to get everything ready and cleaned up, and then, here I am!
I'm all excited!
- I'm excited, too.
♪ - Right now, just, you know, unwinding after the challenge, and just thinkin' about, uh, whose relative this is.
- It could be, like, my grandma, my uncles, or my father, or it could even be someone on my mom's side.
I'm just kinda anticipating finding out who it is.
[reflective piano music] So, we get out of the car, and we're heading downstairs, and I notice the relative, and immediately, I know that it's, um, one of Aunt Sabrina's and Uncle Anthony's brothers.
♪ - Hello, my name's Karim, and this is my cousin, Rachelle.
Man: Nice to meet you.
My name is Tim.
Rachelle: I'm looking at him, and I'm like, this might be my dad.
I have no idea if today's gonna be the day, and I'm getting a little anxious.
Um, whose relative are you?
- I'm your Uncle Tim, Rachelle.
Yes, yours.
- Yay!
Tim: Hugging my niece for the first time was like heaven.
You know, it was great.
I couldn't let her go.
- Thank you.
Meeting my aunt and uncles has been such a blessing because they've been nothing but loving and welcoming to me, and that's been all I've ever wanted.
Tim: Thank you for, uh, you know, comin' on this journey.
- Of course.
I definitely wanted to meet you guys, so, thank you for being a part of mine.
Tim: Oh, I love it.
I'm grateful for this day because I got a chance to meet my niece who wanted and, and, and needed answers, and I was able to provide some of them answers.
I'm, I'm a ball of nerves right now, you know?
Rachelle: I know, me too.
- I, I don't... - Did you know about me?
- No, no.
Uh, I had no idea, um, that you even existed.
Uh, none of us did, you know.
Although we didn't know, we was like, yes!

Just their welcoming energy really-- [sighs] --just made me feel like I belonged and I had a place in, you know, my biological family, and just made me really happy.

Rachelle: There's something about hugging my family that, I don't know, I just don't wanna let them go, and it feels, feels like home.
♪ Dan: Back in Oklahoma City, Kyle is learning more from his aunt, Rhonda, about how their families fit together.
Kyle: So, what do you know about the Weeks family?
That's, that's where I'm curious.
- I know the Weeks family is from Idaho.
- Okay.
- That's about all I know.
- That's all you know?
- I've been looking for a while.
- Really?
Okay.
- I'm just super excited because now he can relate personally to what I've experienced for the past two days, and it's really cool to watch from the outside this time and see his interaction in that he can be able to get to know one of his biological family that he hasn't met before.
Rhonda: I was just looking for my mom-- Kyle: Okay.
- --and happened on my dad.
- Oh!
- I'll take what I can get.
Kyle: [laughs] You'll take what you can get.
Layton: Happy coincidence.
Rhonda: [laughs] Right!
- As far as the Weeks family goes, they're wonderful people.
This is the, probably the best picture that I know.
So, this is my family.
Rhonda: 'Kay.
So the pictures that Kyle showed me of his family with his dad and his mom and his siblings, there are some similarities there.
Kyle: You've got, one, two, three, four, four brothers.
And then you have a sister.
- Can't wait to meet 'em.
- They're good people, and so if you ever get the chance, I would love to introduce you to them.
- Yeah.
- They're wonderful people.
I'm so excited to introduce her to my parents, my grandfather, to my aunts and uncles and my cousins, and just get to know about her family and what they like to do.
So, I'm kinda curious.
Where, where's your family?
What's there?
I wanna know my cousins!
- So, you have four from me.
We put this together so that you can kinda see how they grew up.
- Okay, great.
- So it kinda starts with them as young children.
- Oh my goodness.
- Mark, me.

- McKenzie's the oldest.
She is the smallest.
Kyle: Okay.
Rhonda: Rex, Mason, her Kyle, and Rhett.
Kyle: And Rhett, in the back corner.
- My four children are beyond excited to meet other cousins and other friends.
Yeah, you've got four, and they are excited to have some cousins that are just theirs.
- Oh, they can have 'em.
- So, yeah, they're a little excited.
- It's amazing to look at ya.
It's nice to finally put a face behind the, behind the name, 'cause I have never seen a picture of you, so I had no idea.
Rhonda: Yeah, I don't think they're out there.
I am very glad I, I submitted my DNA.
It's so fun to see where my kids, who they look like.
It didn't affect me growin' up, but my kids now can say, "Oh, I look like the Weeks side."
It's been pretty c-- 'cause, for, they don't look like the Huishes, they don't like me, mine.
And I didn't realize it affected them.
I didn't realize until we had gotten home that my boys said, "We wanted to know who we look like," and I didn't, I had no idea, so it's been cool for them to see where their genetics lies and who they're related to.
- Yeah.
I can't wait to invite her with open arms to more open arms, that she has a family and friends that are waiting for the opportunity to meet her.
This has been amazing.
I never thought I'd actually get to do this, so thank you for taking the time and spending time with us.

♪ Tiffani: I sit down with Buford and ask, um, something that my cousins weren't able to tell me.
Buford, you knew my mom.
- Yes.
- What is her name?
- Jeannie Marie.
- Jeannie Marie.
Okay, that's nice.
I've been searching for that name for 40, over 40 years.
Ever since I knew I was adopted.
I wanted to find her.
I wanted to know who she was.
If she wanted me, if she looked for me.
What the sto-- circumstances were for my adoption.
What do you know about my mom?
What was she like?
- Well, your mom was a, a tomboy.
She loved camping.
She was trouble [laughs] sometime, somewhat, but, she was good.
Yeah, she did, she was a lovable person.
- That was the same way, I was a tomboy growing up, and, camping's a big, big part of-- Buford: Right, yeah.
- --of us.
That's us.
I mean, that's a big part of how we are and what we do as a family.
- She was a good person.
Yeah, she was a real good person.
- I mean, you keep saying she was a good person.
- 'Kay, she... [sighs] [breathing measuredly] Well.
She passed away a few, quite a while ago.
She, um... Tiffani: [sniffs] Buford: Sorry.
- [sobbing] ♪ Buford: Yeah.
Tiffani: How long, how long ago did she die?
- At least, uh, 15, 20 years ago.
- [sighs] Buford: That long.
- There's questions that I may not get answers to, and it's, kind of a hard pill to swallow.
I don't know that I'll ever get those questions answered.
Nobody ever knew about me, so you don't know when-- Buford: No, no, I, I never knew that you even existed.
See, whenever you were born, she gave you up for adoption, 'kay?
So that's all I know, that, that she gave you up for adoption.
I don't know if it was because of her health.
I can't, I, I don't know.
- I felt sad that... her family doesn't really know why I was given up for adoption.
- When you were born, we didn't know.
I didn't know at all.
I had no clue.
- Okay.
Buford: Yep.
That's just the way it was, I mean.
- They didn't even know about me until recently, and they didn't really have a relationship with her in the later part of her life.
- Would you like to see a photo?
Tiffani: Yeah, I would love to.
- It's got a little makeup on it, but.
- [sniffing] Buford: That's your momma.
♪ Tiffani: [sniffs] Jose: She looks like you.
She's got your nose, your eyes.
Tiffani: It was very overwhelming seeing that first picture of my mom, just, completely broke me down.
I've waited-- [sniffs] --over 40 years to figure out what she looked like.
[sighs] - Now you know.
- Now I know!
[sniffs] It means the world.
Buford: Oh, you're quite welcome.
Tiffani: I've always been looking for somebody that resembles me.
I wanna know who I take after, who I look like, and it's definitely her.
[sniffing and sobbing] Dan: As Tiffani deals with immeasurable loss, Angie is learning more about her cousin, Tina.
Tina: Go ahead, ask some questions you would like to know.
- So, are you married?
- Yes, I am married.
I have, my husband is 39.
He has four children.
I have two children-- - You have two children.
Tina: --of my own.
I have a oldest daughter that's 20.
I have a grandbaby.
Um, she is actually 15 months old.
Um, my granddaughter was four months old when she has gotten attacked by a pitbull, um, left her for dead.
Uh, it took a half of her brain on the right hand side, left a big gash in her cheek.
This is actually her when this all went down.
It was over 600-somethin' stitches.
They had to intubate her.
She can't swallow or feed through her mouth.
It's all by g-tube.
Uh, it's a constant worry if we're gonna have seizures, if medications are gonna work.
All that kind of stuff, whole, they don't even know if she's gonna be able to walk, yet.
It's not even a guarantee.
It's a 50/50 chance.
She's lost her right-side learning, cognitive skills.
It's all on God's hands on that one.
- Oh, that was really hard to hear all that.
Um, wow.
A lot of the people we've met have had a hard life.
They've had a lot of struggles.
I haven't.
Things that, things that I think have been hard have not been.
- We're both very lucky people, and the people that we've met on this journey, it's hard to hear their stories and compare it to our own, because we've complained about things that really don't matter.
They don't matter.
- [sniffs] - Which this is her there.
Kelly: She looks happy.
Tina: She is very happy, even though, with all the injuries she's had.
I went and had pictures done, just a little bit of different things that I would thought would stick out.
Paisley has brought so much joy to my life.
She, um, is my, is my light of my life.
She's the reason why I'm here, and, the family that now we are gonna extend to, so... it's gonna be exciting.
- Wow.
Wow.
I would, I would love to meet her.
That's just, that's a miracle.
That's just, that's amazing that she, like, survived that.
- And her name's Paisley, so.
Angie: Paisley.
- Yes.
- Oh, she's so sweet.
She's so beautiful.

We got a knock on the door while Angie and I was having our conversation, and, it happened to be my daughter with my grandbaby.

Dan: Back in Atlanta, Rachelle and Karim finally get to share their first-place prize with Rachelle's uncle, Tim.
Rachelle: Uncle Tim, I really appreciate you talking with me and spending this time with me, um, and just, you know, getting to know me.

♪ What was it like, um, growing up in the Simpsons family?
- It was... a lot of fun.
We didn't, we didn't want for nothin'.
We wasn't, you know, no bad kids, 'cause our mom kept a tight grip on us, you know.

Tim: The Simpson family is a family that is deep-rooted in love.
You know, we, we have a lot of love for each other.
When that streetlight came on, you'd better be in the bed, already took your bath and everything.
You're not comin' in the house, you know, so.
It was pretty much the, a nice, you know, experience.
- Wow.
- Meeting Uncle Tim today really helped narrow down further who Rachelle's father might be.
Rachelle: Yep, and he also knew my mother and grew up with her, um, but he wasn't really able to provide me with any pictures or information of, like, where she is, or if she's even alive.
- You know, your mom came around for a while.
She was a real, real fun person.
Loved to laugh.

I mean, we's jokin', we, and uh... She's a real good person.
You know.
Karim: Uncle Tim, with the, um, I don't know if Rachelle can get it out right now, but, uh, I just wanna know, did you know her mother's name?
- Your mom's name is Rosalyn.

Yeah, I've [sniffs] never known anything about her.

- So, this is, like, the first big information I've ever heard about her, so thank you so much.
- I can't say that I know how she feels 'cause I've always had my family.
I've known my mother and I've known my father, so, but just to see how much the Simpsons have welcomed her into their family, it's, it's been beautiful.

Loving people, grounded people, people that value family, and, we value family, so, it just feels so good to be a part of a broader family now.

- It's, uh, yeah, it's pretty exhausting.
Long days, um, sometimes long nights.
You know, we get some sleep here and there.
- Emotionally, definitely a roller coaster.
Lotta highs and lotta lows.
- Uh, some of you headed out quickly and easily, and once you got to Candelabra Classic...
Uh, [chuckles] Karim's now goin', "Heh heh," because, you guys, once again, you navigated well, but Candelabra Classic seemed to get the best of you.
- Yeah, it was really challenging.
Those water guns were really, really hard for me.
Like, my little arms were not doing what they should have been doing, so it, it was strenuous, definitely.
- Well, you know, Team Black really didn't have that concern because you guys worked together, and, how long did it take you and which ball did you guys just bounce right off.
Layton: We knocked off the yellow one in about 45 seconds.

I wanna turn my attention to the two sister-in-laws, Team Green.
Today might have been a really good day, but with some difficult news.
Yeah, so, today, um, I got to meet another cousin.
This is my cousin Tina, um, her daughter, Jasmine, and Jasmine's daughter, Paisley, um, and it was really emotional.
We found out that Paisley was in an accident with a dog and had to endure, um, a lot of surgeries.
We weren't sure exactly where this was going, we weren't sure if she had pulled through or if she had passed away, but luckily, we did find out that, um, it was kind of a surprise, they knocked on the door and came here, and she's still, she's still with us, and we got to play with a baby today!
So, it was emotional, and, um, it turned out really, really great and really special.
- It's wonderful, not only who you meet, but it's exceptional to hear their stories, and then you can remember that and build your own memories together.
And, uh, these are the days and these are the moments that we hope that you would cherish for the rest of your lives because you're seeing your families grow before your eyes, and you're learning key things about them so quickly.

- Yes, yes it was.
Um, today I had the opportunity to meet my Uncle Tim on my father's side, and he shared a really important piece of information with me.
Um, I got to finally learn my mother's name, so that was something so big and important, so, I'm so thankful.

Rachelle: Her name is Rosalyn!
Layton: That's dope!
Rachelle: Yes, so she's an R, too, and I thought that was just a confirmation as well.
Layton: That's perfect.

This is my mom, and so... ♪ [sighs] [sniffs] I gotta see my mom's face for the first time, something that I've been searching for for over 40 years, and he was able to fill me in on a lot of, a lot about her.
