AND IN THIS EPISODE, OUR LAST OF SEASON 3, BRANDON ARE SHARING SOME OF OUR FAVORITE STORIES FROM THE PAST YEAR.

UP FIRST WE HEADED TO WABASH COUNTY TO LEARN ABOUT AN ELEPHANT WHO MADE QUITE A NAME FOR HERSELF.

♪ >> THE SONG OF MODOCK BEGAN NOVEMBER 11, 1942.
WHEN TERRELL JACOBS, THE OWNER OF THE GREAT AMERICAN CIRCUS, BROUGHT HIS CIRCUS TO WABASH HIGH SCHOOL.
HE BROUGHT HIS CREW OF ANIMALS, AND ALONG WITH THAT CAME THREE ELEPHANTS.
EMPRESS, JUDY, AND MODOCK.
AND THESE THREE ELEPHANTS WERE TIED UP OUTSIDE THE HIGH SCHOOL.
WHEN WALTER SLIMMER'S DOGS CAME AND STARTED BARKING AT THESE THREE ELEPHANTS, AND THEY THREW UP THEIR TETHERS AND BROKE LOOSE.
NOW, EMPRESS AND JUDY WERE GOOD GIRLS, AND THEY JUST MEANDERED DOWN IN THE FRONT LAWN OF THE HIGH SCHOOL.
BUT MODOCK, SHE HAD DIFFERENT THINGS IN MIND.
AND SHE TOOK OFF FOR DOWNTOWN.
♪ THE FIRST PLACE SHE CAME WAS MRS. H.W.
REED'S HOUSE, AND SHE HAD PUT TWO APPLE PIES OUT ON HER WINDOW SILL FOR COOLING.
AND MODOCK CAME BY, ATE BOTH OF THOSE APPLE PIES.
SHE CAME TO DOWNTOWN WABASH, AND SHE CAME UP TO THE HOTEL BEHIND ME HERE, THE INDIANA HOTEL, AND STANDING THERE WERE TWO BOYS, JERRY McPICKER AND GERALD HOPKINS.
AND GERALD HAD JUST BOUGHT A BAG OF PENNY CANDY.
AND UP CAME MODOCK.
AND THOSE POOR BOYS, THEIR KNEES WERE BANGING TOGETHER.
THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.
AND GERALD HANDED OUT THAT BAG OF CANDY.
AND JUST LIKE THOSE APPLE PIES, MODOCK TOOK THAT BAG AND, BAG AND ALL, RIGHT DOWN THE OLD HATCH.
[ LAUGHTER ] THIS IS CHAUN-- MRS. CHAUNCEY KESSLER HAD COME FROM THE TELEPHONE COMPANY, AND SHE WAS GOING TO THE BRADLEY BROTHERS DRUGSTORE WHERE WE SIT HERE TODAY.
MODOCK FOLLOWED HER TO THE FRONT DOOR OF THE BRADLEY BROTHERS DRUGSTORE.
AND WHEN MRS. KESSLER OPENED UP THAT FRONT DOOR, OUT CAME THE AROMA EVERY ELEPHANT DREAMS OF, THE SMELL OF ROASTING PEANUTS.
MODOCK CRASHED THROUGH THAT FRONT DOOR, WENT INSIDE, KNOCKED OVER THE PEANUT ROASTER, SCARFED UP ALL THE PEANUTS, KNOCKED OVER THE SODA FOUNTAIN, AND MADE A MESS OF THE WHOLE STORE.
AND THEN SHE WENT OUT THE BACK DOOR, CRASHED OUT THE BACK DOOR, AND KNOCKED EZRA LA SALLE INTO THE GUTTER OF THE STREET.
MODOCK HEADED ACROSS THE STREET TO THE UNION CIGAR STORE, AND SHE POKED HER HEAD IN THE FRONT DOOR.
NOW, THE UNION CIGAR STORE REALLY WASN'T JUST ABOUT CIGARS.
IT WAS A TAVERN.
AND AS MODOCK PUT HER HEAD IN THAT FRONT DOOR, THERE WERE TWO OLD BOYS.
ONE OLD BOY TURNED TO THE OTHER AND SAID, THAT'S THE LAST DRINK I'M EVER GOING TO TAKE.
[ LAUGHTER ] ♪ THE STORY STARTED HITTING NEWSPAPER HEADLINES.
AND IT LITERALLY HIT HEADLINES ALL ACROSS THE UNITED STATES.
AND OVER THE NEXT FIVE DAYS, SHE RAMPAGED ACROSS WABASH COUNTY AND HUNTINGTON COUNTY ON A SEARCH FOR BETTER THINGS.
AND SO ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON, MODOCK WAS OUT IN A FIELD NORTH OF MOUNT AETNA, INDIANA.
TERRELL JACOBS BROUGHT OUT HIS OTHER ELEPHANT, EMPRESS, TO TRY TO LURE MODOCK.
MODOCK, DURING THAT FIVE DAYS, HAD LOST 800 POUNDS, AND THE SHERIFF OF HUNTINGTON COUNTY BROUGHT OUT A TRUCKLOAD OF BREAD TO FEED THE ELEPHANT.
MODOCK WAS OUT IN THE FIELD.
THE OTHER ELEPHANT, EMPRESS, WAS OUT THERE.
THE LOADS OF BREAD WERE OUT THERE.
AND SLOWLY MODOCK STARTED TO EAT THAT BREAD AND WORK HER WAY BACK TO HER WAGON.
AND WHEN MODOCK GOT ONTO THAT WAGON, TERRELL JACOBS DID WHAT ANY SELF-RESPECTING ELEPHANT OWNER WOULD DO.
HE FED HER 30 GALLONS OF WATER AND 6 QUARTS OF WHISKEY TO SETTLE HER NERVES, DON'T YOU KNOW?
[ LAUGHTER ] ♪ MY WIFE, ANGIE, HAD WRITTEN A PAPER ABOUT MODOCK.
>> IRONICALLY, I WAS WORKING ON MY MASTER'S THESIS AT MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY FOR A FOURTH GRADE CLASS, AND IT WAS ON WABASH COUNTY HISTORY.
SO 30 YEARS AGO I WROTE A PIECE ABOUT MODOCK'S MARKET.
>> SHE CAME UP WITH THE IDEA OF THIS NAME FOR THIS COFFEE STORE TO BE MODOCK'S MARKET.
>> WHO WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT THAT MANY YEARS FORWARD WE WOULD HAVE A STORE CALLED MODOCK'S.
WE WEREN'T EVEN COFFEE DRINKERS.
I WAS NOT A COFFEE DRINKER AND THOUGHT, WELL, WHY DON'T WE JUST TRY THAT?
I ALWAYS KNEW THAT MODOCK'S WAS HERE AND I KNEW THAT MODOCK WAS AN ELEPHANT, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW THE DETAILS OF THE STORY UNTIL I INQUIRED ABOUT THE JOB HERE.
AS I TRAVEL AROUND, I ALWAYS, LIKE, GOOGLE LOCAL COFFEE SHOPS, BUT I'VE YET TO FIND A COFFEE SHOP THAT'S AS UNIQUE AS MODOCK'S MARKET.
>> OUR DREAM FOR THE SPACE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THAT IT'S A PLACE FOR EVERYONE, THAT WE WOULD SEE NO STRANGERS.
I LOVE THE BREAK-FREE MANTRA, REALLY.
IT SPEAKS TO ME FOR ANYBODY WHO NEEDS A PLACE TO CHANGE UP THEIR DAY OR TO BREAK FREE FROM WHATEVER'S GOING ON IN THEIR LIFE.
>> THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE STORIES BECAUSE THERE'S JUST SO MUCH TO IT, NOT JUST THE WAY THAT, YOU KNOW, THE HISTORY TALKS ABOUT IT AND THE WAY THAT HE TELLS THAT STORY, BUT IMAGINE BEING THERE, YOU KNOW, BUYING SOME COFFEE, BUYING SOME ROASTED PEANUTS.
THE DOOR KICKS OPEN, AN ELEPHANT.
AND THE FACT THAT YOU CAN TRACK THROUGH THE TOWN AND FOLLOW IN MODOCK'S FOOTSTEPS I THINK IS WONDERFUL.

>> I JUST PURSUED WHAT I FELT GOOD AT, WHAT I FELT MY GIFTINGS WERE.
THAT EVENTUALLY LED ME TO START MUD LOVE.
ACTUALLY IN A BASEMENT, EVENTUALLY MOVED TO THE GARAGE, BUT, YEAH, IT STARTED IN 2009, SEPTEMBER.
MY MOM AND DAD, YOU KNOW, THEY'VE ALWAYS JUST DONE THEIR OWN PROJECTS, DIY.
MY DAD WAS A CARPENTER.
SO IT'S JUST SORT OF IN MY BLOOD.
SO I GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE IN 2008.
I DIDN'T REALLY KNOW WHAT TO DO.
I HAD THIS CERAMICS DEGREE FROM INDIANA WESLEYAN, SO I STARTED WORKING WITH MY DAD DOING CONSTRUCTION.
BUT HE HAD SOME HEART COMPLICATIONS, AND THE PHYSICAL LABOR JUST WASN'T POSSIBLE ANYMORE FOR HIM.
AND SO I KNEW THAT THIS WAS MY LAST JOB AND THAT I NEEDED A BACKUP PLAN.
AND I HAD THIS CERAMICS DEGREE AND THOUGHT, WHY DON'T I JUST START SMALL?
I DON'T NEED A LOT IN LIFE.
I CAN LIVE SIMPLY AND, YOU KNOW, LIVE PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK IF I HAVE TO.
MY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ART TEACHER, MRS. BROWN, SHE TAUGHT ME HOW TO WEAVE THIS BRACELET.
I HAD THIS STAMP SET THAT I INHERITED FROM MY GRANDMOTHER.
I STAMPED OUT THESE LITTLE BRACELETS.
I MADE ABOUT 100.
I DIDN'T MARKET THEM.
I DIDN'T MERCHANDISE THEM.
I JUST PUT THEM ON MY TABLE AND JUST SORT OF LET THEM SIT THERE.
PEOPLE WOULD LOOK THROUGH MY POTTERY AND THEY KIND OF WERE DRAWN TO THESE LITTLE BRACELETS WITH WORDS LIKE "HOPE, LOVE, FAITH" ON THEM.
AND THE NEXT THING I KNEW, PEOPLE WERE BUYING A BUNCH AT A TIME, GIVING THEM ALL AWAY.
AND THEN THOSE PEOPLE WHO RECEIVED THAT GIFT WOULD COME INTO MY SHOP AND LOOK FOR THEM AND DO THE SAME THING.
EVERY MUG IS WHEEL THROWN, WHICH IS CHALLENGING, BECAUSE WE HAVE SOME GREAT POTTERS HERE.
THAT HAVE FIGURED OUT HOW TO DO IT PRETTY QUICKLY.
YOU KNOW, THEY'RE GOING TO BE DIFFERENT, BUT IT CAN'T BE TOO FAR OR ELSE, YOU KNOW, WHAT WE REPRESENT ON THE WEBSITE WON'T BE ACCURATE.
SO IT IS CHALLENGING SORT OF THIS LIGHT MANUFACTURING BUSINESS THAT WE'RE IN.
BUT IT IS WHAT KIND OF GETS ME OUT OF BED, WHAT DRIVES ME.
THE MUD LOVE COMMUNITY AT LARGE HAS REALLY MADE THE BRACELET WHAT IT IS.
EVEN EARLY ON, PEOPLE WERE SAYING, WELL, I WANT TO BUY 50 AND THEN RESELL THEM TO RAISE MONEY FOR WHATEVER.
WE TOOK THAT AND BUILT A SYSTEM FOR THAT.
YOU HAVE REALLY, YOU KNOW, WE'RE JUST CREATING SORT OF A VESSEL FOR PEOPLE, THE COMMUNITY.
THEY'RE THE ONES REALLY CREATING THE IMPACT, AND WE JUST GET TO HELP FACILITATE THAT.
I FELT LIKE GOD WAS JUST CALLING ME TO CREATE A BUSINESS ABOUT SOMETHING OTHER THAN MYSELF AND JUST MAKING MONEY.
AT THE CORE MUD LOVE, OUR GOAL IS TO PUT LOVE IN ACTION.
IT CAN BE CHALLENGING WHEN WE'RE RUNNING A BUSINESS, BUT THINGS WE TRY TO DO ARE JUST, YOU KNOW, EVEN IF IT COMES TO OUTSOURCING, IT'S HOW CAN WE DO THIS IN A WAY THAT'S THOUGHTFUL AND IMPACTFUL?
AFTER TALKING TO A FEW PEOPLE AND JUST THINKING ABOUT IT LONGER, I DECIDED TO SUPPORT CLEAN WATER PROJECTS IN THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC THROUGH AN ORGANIZATION CALLED WATER FOR GOOD.
WELL, THE FOUNDER THAT I KNEW WAS A MISSIONARY AT MY CHURCH GROWING UP.
AND HE WAS SORT OF JUST THROWN INTO THIS WATER BUSINESS.
GETTING TO KNOW HIM AND GETTING TO KNOW HIS STORY AND THE ORGANIZATION, I JUST REALLY -- I KNEW I COULD TRUST THE WORK.
AND HE GREW UP IN THAT COUNTRY.
AND SO HE SPOKE THE LANGUAGE, UNDERSTOOD THE CULTURE.
IT'S JUST A LOT OF FACTORS IN WHY WE CHOOSE THEM AND WHY I THINK THEY'RE A GREAT PARTNER.
THERE'S STILL OVER 600 MILLION PEOPLE WITHOUT ACCESS TO WATER.
AND WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO GIVE OVER A MILLION WEEKS BECAUSE OF OUR COMMUNITY.
BEYOND THAT I JUST THINK PEOPLE ARE MORE AWARE.
AND SO THAT AWARENESS JUST CREATES CONVERSATION.
THEY'RE SPREADING THE WORD THAT HERE'S A HUGE NEED.
THIS IS A VERY MISSION-DRIVEN COMMUNITY.
THEY CARE A LOT ABOUT, YOU KNOW, WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE WORLD, NOT JUST WHAT'S GOING ON IN THEIR OWN LIVES.
AND I THINK THAT JUST RESONATED WITH PEOPLE, AND THEY WANTED TO SHARE IT.
SO, YOU KNOW, WE DIDN'T ASK THEM TO SHARE IT.
WE GAVE THEM THE TOOL, AND THEN THEY DID THE SHARING ON THEIR OWN AND, YEAH, IT CHANGED THE BUSINESS.
THE ABILITY TO COME BACK THROUGH A HARD TIME OR COME OUT OF KIND OF A DARK STAGE, IT'S NOT ABOUT US, RIGHT?
THIS ISN'T ABOUT US.
THIS IS ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE.
AND SO I THINK I CAN PUT ASIDE MY FIRST-WORLD PROBLEM RIGHT NOW TO THINK ABOUT THE REALITY OF WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE WORLD.
AND WE HAVE FOUR KIDS.
AND WE WANT OUR KIDS TO UNDERSTAND, YOU KNOW, WHY WE'RE DOING WHAT WE'RE DOING.
WE WANT TO GO ON TRIPS WITH THEM TO THESE PLACES EVENTUALLY WHEN THEY'RE BIGGER AND SHOW THEM, THIS IS WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE WORLD.
AND WE CAN'T CHANGE EVERYTHING, BUT WE CAN DISRUPT SOME OF THESE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING THAT ARE, YOU KNOW, BROKENNESS AND HATE OR WHATEVER IT MAY BE.
AND THAT'S WHAT, YOU KNOW, AN IMPACT WE CAN HAVE ON THEM AS WELL AS OTHER PEOPLE.
>> I KNEW I HAD TO PICK A STORY THAT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH COFFEE.
THAT'S BEEN MY THEME THE PAST THREE SEASONS.
BUT I ALSO LOVE THE MISSION BEHIND WHAT LUKE AND HIS TEAM ARE DOING, AND THEY HAVE SUCH GREAT PRODUCTS.
I REALLY FELT THE LOVE WITH THIS GROUP.

YOU GO TO THE STORE AND YOU SEE ON A BOTTLE, A LITTLE 2 1/2X3 THAT SAYS SAVE $2 NOW ON MALL DUE, YOU KNOW, WE DESIGN ABOUT AT LEAST THREE OR FOUR OF THOSE A DAY.
IT'S A GREAT JOB, BUT SOMETIMES IT'S STRESSFUL.
>> THAT LEFT RANDY LOOKING FOR A STRESS RELIEVER AND A CREATIVE OUTLET.
>> AND I USED TO, FOR YEARS, WORK ON ANIMATED SHORTS, WHICH IF YOU'RE DOING ANIMATED SHORT, IT COULD TAKE A YEAR OR TWO JUST TO CREATE, LIKE, A 1 OR 2-MINUTE ANIMATION.
>> IT WORKED AS A CREATIVE OUTLET.
BUT AS A POTENTIAL BUSINESS, NOT THE RIGHT FIT.
>> SO I HAPPENED TO SEE THAT PLAYING CARDS, THERE WAS PEOPLE WHO WERE STARTING TO DO CUSTOM THEMES.
LIKE, THE FIRST THING I SAW WAS A BLUEPRINT-THEMED DECK OF PLAYING CARDS.
OH, I COULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
AND EIGHT YEARS LATER, I HAVE PRINTED OVER, I THINK, ABOUT 80 DECKS NOW.
♪ WELL, THE IDEAS CAN REALLY COME FROM ANYWHERE.
IT'S JUST WHAT YOU THINK WILL SELL WELL.
ONE OF MY EARLIER DECKS WAS A FABERGE EGG DESIGN.
I SPENT ABOUT SIX MONTHS ON IT.
I USUALLY WORK ON CARDS ABOUT TWO HOURS A NIGHT OR SO.
SO I SPENT ABOUT SIX MONTHS ON THAT THING.
A LOT OF RENDERS.
A LOT OF PHOTOSHOP CLEANUP AND COMPOSITING WORK.
ONCE I WAS DONE, I REALIZED, LIKE, YOU KNOW, THE MAJORITY OF THE PLAYING CARD COMMUNITY ARE MALES THAT ARE, LIKE, IN THEIR 20s OR EARLY 30s.
SO A LOT OF THEM DIDN'T KNOW WHAT FABERGE EGGS WERE.
SO THAT WAS A HARD SELL.
AND SO I'VE KIND OF LEARNED FROM THAT TO KIND OF ADJUST MY THEMES TO WHAT I THINK WILL SELL WELL.
THE LAST COUPLE YEARS I'VE KIND OF BRANCHED OUT A LITTLE BIT.
SO, LIKE, WITH THE WILD WEST DECKS, I ENDED UP HAND DRAWING EVERYTHING WITH PENCIL AND PAPER.
THE GOOD THING ABOUT THE WILD WEST IS THAT WAS WHEN THEY STARTED TAKING PHOTOS, YOU KNOW, THE EARLY DAYS OF PHOTOGRAPHY.
SO THERE'S A LOT OF PHOTOS OF THE ACTUAL PEOPLE LIKE WILD BILL HICK HICKOK, CALAMITY JANE AND GENERAL CUSTER.
YOU KNOW, YOU USE THAT AS REFERENCE.
WHEN I WAS DONE WITH ALL THOSE, I SCANNED THEM INTO THE COMPUTER AND DID ALL OF THE COLOR AND COMPOSITING WORK IN PHOTOSHOP.
AND I WASN'T SURE HOW I WAS GOING TO EVEN LOOK -- THE FINAL RESULT WAS GOING TO LOOK OR IF IT EVEN WOULD WORK, AND IT TURNED OUT BEAUTIFULLY, SO I WAS HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS.
♪ I'VE RECENTLY STARTED DOING SHOWS LIKE INDIANA COMICON AND STUFF LIKE THAT.
I'VE STARTED GETTING A LOT OF PEOPLE ASKING IF I HAVE ANY CUSTOM EUCKER DECKS.
JOL, I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO WITH THAT.
I STARTED THINKING ABOUT IT.
EUCHRE, YOU DON'T USE THE 2 THROUGH 8 OR JOKER CARDS.
I GOT RID OF ALL THE 2 THROUGH 8 JOKER CARDS.
AND BY ELIMINATING THAT, I COULD FIT TWO DIFFERENT EUCHRE DECKS IN ONE BOX.
AND THEY'RE A BIG HIT AT THE SHOWS.
SO I ACTUALLY -- I WAS CURIOUS AND DID ONE OF MY EUCHRE DESIGNS ON KICKSTARTER.
IT DID FAIRLY WELL.

I WAS, LIKE, OKAY, I'LL GO.
I HAD NO IDEA WHAT CERAMICS WAS.
I WAS REALLY BAD AT IT WHEN I FIRST STARTED DOING IT AND FOUND IT REALLY FRUSTRATING BUT THEN STARTED THROWING ON THE WHEEL AND MAKING POTTERY AND GOT KIND OF OBSESSED WITH THE FRUSTRATION OF HOW HARD IT IS.
I THINK IT WAS ALSO THE COMMUNITY.
THERE'S A LOT OF COMMUNITY AROUND CERAMICS KIND OF, LIKE, OF NECESSITY BUT ALSO THAT'S KIND OF JUST THE WAY IT IS.
THE SMALL TOWN IN THE ART WORLD.
AND YOU NEED EACH OTHER TO OPERATE MACHINERY, LEARN HOW TO FIRE KILNS OR YOU NEED HELP LOADING STUFF.
IT'S VERY COMMUNAL.
AND SO I THINK THAT ALSO JUST GOING INTO A CLASS AND REALIZING THAT YOU KIND OF HAVE TO BE FRIENDS WITH PEOPLE, AND GENERALLY I JUST GOT ALONG WITH PEOPLE WHO DID CERAMICS, TOO.

SO KIND OF USING OBJECTS AND, LIKE, SCENERY FROM MY LIFE TO RECREATE A SCENE.
ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY SELF-PORTRAITS.
KIND OF LIKE A BODY DOUBLE, AND USUALLY THERE ARE MULTIPLES IN A SCENE.
IT'S KIND OF LIKE A PSYCHOLOGICAL PORTRAIT AS WELL AS, LIKE, A PHYSICAL PORTRAIT OF WHAT I SEE AS MARKERS OF MY OWN IDENTITY.
IF I'M STANDING NEXT TO IT, THEY'RE LOOKING AT ME, TOO.

USUALLY WOMEN ARE NOT CENTRAL CHARACTERS WHERE YOU'RE SEEING SOME KIND OF, LIKE, HERO'S JOURNEY FOR THEM EMOTIONALLY, OR EVEN REALLY HAVING THEM BE MORE OF, LIKE, A REFLECTION OR SOME KIND OF, LIKE, OBJECT OF DESIRE.
I WOULD LIKE VIEWERS OF MY WORK TO RELATE TO IT IN SOME WAY.
I'D ALSO LIKE THEM TO BE SLIGHTLY CONFUSED BY IT.
YOU KNOW, I'M REALLY INTERESTED IN MAKING WORK AND SETTING UP SCENES THAT ARE NOT ONE-LINERS.
I DON'T REALLY HAVE SOME BIG POINT THAT I'M TRYING TO HIT HOME FOR PEOPLE THAT THEY WOULD WALK AWAY AND BE, LIKE, WELL, THAT WAS DEFINITELY SAYING THIS.
I JUST WANT PEOPLE TO KIND OF ENGAGE WITH THAT AND HAVE AN EXPERIENCE WITH IT, BE STRUCK BY IT IN SOME WAY, WHATEVER THE EMOTIONAL EFFECT OF THAT PARTICULAR PIECE IS INTENDED TO BE.
THE MOST COMMON THING THAT PEOPLE WILL COMMENT TO ME ABOUT MY WORK IS, LIKE, WELL, THAT'S WEIRD.
IT REALLY FREAKED ME OUT.
OR THAT WAS SCARY.
YOU KNOW, THEY ARE KIND OF, LIKE, SCARECROWS.
IT'S, LIKE, KIND OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECT OF, YOU KNOW, IF SOMEBODY IS IN A ROOM WITH SOMETHING THAT LOOKS LIKE A HUMAN FIGURE, EVEN THOUGH IT'S INANIMATE, PEOPLE CAN'T HELP BUT THINK THAT IT WILL ANIMATE ITSELF, WHICH IS A LOT OF THE FEAR AROUND FIGURATIVE SCULPTURE.
AND SO I REALLY LIKE THE IDEA OF PLAYING ON THAT FEAR.
IT'S JUST AN IMPULSE.
I JUST REALLY LOVE TO MAKE THINGS.
I'LL THINK OF SOMETHING AND THEN, YOU KNOW, I'LL BE, LIKE, ITCHING TO MAKE IT.
AND SO I JUST KIND OF FOLLOW THAT IMPULSE THROUGH ALL THE WAY.
IT'S A LOT OF SATISFACTION IN THE WAY THAT IT KIND OF REGARDS ALL OF THE THINGS THAT I CARE ABOUT, THINKING ABOUT MAKING THINGS ALSO MAKES ME HAVE TO BE ENGAGED IN ART HISTORY, ENGAGED IN ART THEORY.
IT MAKES ME HAVE TO BE PART OF A COMMUNITY WHERE I LOOK AT OTHER PEOPLE'S WORK AND GET FEEDBACK FROM PEOPLE.
A LOT OF MY SATISFACTION IS HAVING THE ABILITY TO WORK ON SOMETHING FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME.
