HERE AT THE SOUTHERN INDIANA MUSEUM OF THE ARTS ARTS LOCATED SOUTH OF SEYMOUR, YOU WILL FIND VINTAGE PRINTING PRESSES.
WE WILL LEARN ABOUT THOSE AND THE MAN WHO KEEPS THEM ALL RUNNING IN JUST A BIT BUT FIRST MONROE COUNTY TO LEARN HOW ONE FAMOUS ACTOR'S COSTUME COLLECTION FOUND A HOME IN THE HOOSIER STATE.
PRODUCER JASON PEAR HAS THE STORY.
>> THE SAGE COLLECTION ALSO KNOWN AS THE ELIZ ELIZABETH SAGE.
IT'S IN THE ESKANAZI SCHOOL OF ART AND DESIGN.
IT'S BEEN IN EXISTENCE SINCE 1937, BUT COLLECTING FOR IT HAS BEEN GONING ON FOR MORE THAN 100 YEARS?
>> THE FALL OF 2017, IT BECAME THE NEW HOME OF GLENN CLOSE'S COSTUME COLLECTION.
THE AWARD-WINNING ACTOR WAS IMPRESSED BY UNIVERSITY'S STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES AND ITS COMMITMENT TO USE HER COSTUMES IN THE CLASSROOM.
>> AND ALL DIFFERENT KINDS OF CLASSROOMS FROM COSTUME DESIGN, FASHION DESIGN, GENDER STUDIES, HISTORY, TEXTILE DESIGN.
ALL KINDS OF WAYS THAT THEY COULD BE USED IN THE CLASSROOM.
I THINK SHE REALLY LIKED THAT.
THE COLLECTION ITSELF IS QUITE LARGE.
THERE ARE MORE THAN 800 INDIVIDUAL PIECES AND WE'RE ALSO GETTING NEW PIECES ALL THE TIME.
>> IN SPRING OF 2021, A SMALL SUBSET WAS PUT ON DISPLAY.
>> THERE ARE A FEW PIECES THAT REALLY STAND OUT, I BELIEVE, IN THE GLENN CLOSE COLLECTION THAT ARE ON VIEW AT THE ESKANAZI MUSEUM OF ART.
ONE OF THOSE PIECES IS THE BLACK LEATHER COAT FROM "FATAL ATTRACTION."
IT'S A VERY POWERFUL PIECE WITH THOSE REALLY BIG SHOULDERS, TIGHT WAIST AND PRESENTS A VERY STRONG FIGURE.
AND YOU CONTRAST THAT BLACK LEATHER COAT WITH THE VERY SIMPLE KIND OF ALMOST ANGELIC WHITE KNIT DRESS AT THE END OF "FACIAL ATTRACTION" HIGHLIGHTS THAT CHARACTER'S EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER THROUGHOUT THE FILL: "DANGEROUS LIAISONS" IS A WONDERFULWONDERFUL FILM FOR COSTUMING.
AND IT'S SO DIFFERENT.
THE SHAPES ARE SO DIFFERENT, AND WE'RE SO THRILLED TO HAVE THE ONES THAT WE DO.
THE PYTHON DRESS, I THINK IS REALLY INCREDIBLE FROM "101 DALMATIANS" BECAUSE OF THE TOTALITY OF THE DESIGNER'S VISION AND HOW THAT WAS REALIZED.
SO IT HAS A BEAUTIFUL BROWN, BLACK AND WHITE SNAKE SPRINT, AND THAT MOTIF IS ECHOED THROUGH THE JEWELRY.
SO SHE'S GOT THIS INCREDIBLE CUSTOM DESIGNED SNAKE EARRINGS, SNAKE NECKLACE AND A COMBINATION OF SNAKE RING AND BRACELET.
IT'S NOT JUST ONE DRESS OR SOMETHING, IT'S JUST THE HEAD-TO-TOE VISION THAT THE DESIGNER HAD AND HOW COMPLETELY AND WONDERFULLY IT WAS CARRIED OUT BY THE MAKERS WHO WERE TASKED WITH BRINGING THOSE DRAWINGS AND THOSE IDEAS TO REALITY.
MOVING ON TO THE SEQUEL, THERE'S A COUPLE OF COSTUMES I WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT.
THE FIRST COSTUMER GROUP OF COSTUMES IS THE TRANSFORMATION SUITS.
AND REALLY I THINK IT'S A GREAT EXAMPLE TO REPRESENT THE WHOLE EXHIBITION, BECAUSE IT IS ABOUT TRANSFORMATION OF A CHARACTER THROUGH COSTUME AND I THINK IT'S A FUN TRANSITION FOR PEOPLE TO SEE AND HOW MUCH THOUGHT WAS PUT INTO WHAT IS JUST A FEW MINUTES ON SCREEN, AND IT'S JUST A LITTLE GLIMPSE INTO THE MAGIC.
THE FLAME DRESS IS ANOTHER SPECTACULAR FEAT OF COSTUMING.
THE DRESS ITSELF IS IN THREE PIECES.
SO THERE'S A BODICE, A CLOSE-FITTING SKIRT AND THEN THIS ENORMOUS OVERSKIRT.
SO IT'S JUST LAYERS AND LAYERS AND LAYERS AND GLENN CLOSE IS ALWAYS ALSO REFERRED TO AS THE FIREBIRD DRESS.
THIS EXHIBITION IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR VIEWERS TO COME AND SEE SOME OF THESE THINGS UP CLOSE THAT MIGHT BE JUST ON SCREEN FOR A FEW SECONDS SO YOU CAN SEE EVERY SEQUIN, EVERY BEAD.
IT'S A REALLY UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THOSE THINGS THAT HELP CREATE THAT MAGIC AND MAKES YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH OF THAT IS FOSTERED BIT INCREDIBLE COSTUMES.
SO MUCH WORK AND SO MUCH ARTISTRY GOES INTO THESE PIECES.
I FEEL LIKE WE ARE GIVING THEM THEIR DO.
>> AS SOMEONE WHO SPENDS A LOT OF TIME IN VARIOUS COSTUMES AND KNOWS THE EFFECT THEY CAN HAVE ON YOUR PERFORMANCE AND THE EFFECT THAT THAT PERFORMANCE CAN HAVE ON YOUR ACTING PARTNERS AND THE AUDIENCE, IT'S NO WONDER SHE WOULD WANT SOME PLACE FOR THESE COSTUMES TO GO WHERE THEY WOULD BE CARED FOR YOU CAN GO TO ART MUSEUM.INDIANA.EDU.

ONE OF THE PRESSES THAT WE HAVE HERE IN THE MUSEUM IS ONE THAT WE DID HAVE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.
IT CAME FROM THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER.
IT IS A TREADLE PRESS.
YOU PEDAL IT WITH YOUR FOOT.
IT'S THE TYPE OF PRESS THAT HAD BEEN USED IN OUR GOING WESTWARD.
YOU COULD LOAD THE PRESS WITH I AFEWA FEW CASES OF TYPE AND YOU COULD GO ANY PLACE AND SET UP A PRINT SHOP.
ON THE HAND PRESS, IT'S BASICALLY THE WAY THAT GUTENBERG'S PRESS WOULD HAVE OPERATED.
WOULD YOU SET THE TYPE.
YOU WOULD LOCK IT UP IN A FRAMEWORK AND ALL THAT WOULD BE SET INTO THE PRESS, PUT THE PAPER IN, LOWER IT DOWN, AND YOU WOULD CRANK IT BACK OUT, OPEN IT IT UP.
YOU WOULD GO THROUGH THAT EACH TIME YOU WANTED TO PRINT.
SO I DO HAVE, YOU KNOW, SENIOR CITIZEN GROUPS THAT COME THROUGH, SCHOOL GROUPS AND SO ON THAT I GIVE TOURS TO.
WHEN WE INK UP THIS OLD WASHINGTON PRESS, AND WE GO THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCEDURE AND HAVE THEM HELP ME PUSH AND PULL ON THE LEVERS AND EVERYTHING, AND IT'S ALWAYS, WOW!
YOU KNOW, THEY ARE AMAZED.
AND THEN I THINK, YOU KNOW, THAT THESE KIDS HAVE GROWN UP WHERE THEY CAN CLICK A MOUSE BUTTON, A FULL COLOR PICTURE COMES OUT AND THEY DON'T THINK ANYTHING ABOUT THAT.
BUT WHEN THEY GO THROUGH A PROCESS HERE, AND OPEN UP THE PRESS AND THERE'S A BLANK COPY, THEY ARE AMAZED.
SO THAT KIND OF TICKLES ME.

I'M OWNER OF FANAMATION AND CURATOR OF THE ANTIQUE FAN COLLECTORS ASSOCIATION FAN MUSEUM.
ALL OF US COLLECTORS, WE HAVE POOLED OUR NICER PIECES TOGETHER FOR DISPLAY, TWO FLOORS OF PROBABLY 3,000 FANS ON DISPLAY OF ALL TYPES AND SHAPES AND COLORS AND FINISHES AND WATER-POWERED FANS, HAND-POWERED FANS.
ALCOHOL-POWERED FANS.
FELT-DRIVEN FANS.
I DON'T HAVE AN ACTUAL COUNT ON THE NUMBER OF FANS HERE.
I PROBABLY PERSONALLY HAVE A COUPLE OF THOUSAND.
AND THERE'S ANOTHER THOUSAND OR SO ON LOAN FROM OTHER COLLECTORS.
I GOT INTO FANS WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL, BETWEEN MY JUNIOR AND SENIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL, I WENT TO WORK FOR AN ANTIQUE DEALER.
ONE OF THE MANY THINGS HE WORKED ON WERE SOME REPRODUCTIONS OF SOME ANTIQUE BELT-DRIVEN FANS.
MY FIRST DAY ON THE JOB WAS TO WORK ON THE REPRODUCTION OF AN ANTIQUE FAN.
ONE THING LED TO ANOTHER, AND WE BECAME THE CASABLANCA FAN COMPANY.
♪ IT GREW FROM JUST THE TWO OF US TORQUETO HUNDREDS OF US, AND A FEW YEARS LATER, I BOUGHT MY DEPARTMENT WHICH WAS THE SPECIALTY END OF THE BUSINESS AND STARTED FANAMATION.
SO I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AROUND ANTIQUE FANS.
I CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE ANTIQUE FAN COLLECTORS EARLY 2000s, 2003, 2004, AND ONE THING LED TO ANOTHER, AND I NOW HOST THE MUSEUM FOR THE CLUB.
HERE WE ARE MANY YEARS LATER, MANY MORE FANS.
IN MOST ANY, IT'S TRACKING A POLITICALPARTICULAR FAN OR PARTICULAR MODEL DOWN.
>> YOU'RE ALWAYS LOOKING, THE USUAL THINGS, ANTIQUE STORES, AUCTIONS.
I'VE GOT A TECHNIQUE FOR LOOKING FOR FANS.
A GOOD EXAMPLE IN NICE, IN FRANCE, THE STREETS ARE NARROW.
THE DOORS ARE USUALLY OPEN.
AND A LOT OF PEOPLE WILL GO IN AND LOOK UP.
I LOOK AT THE FLOOR FOR SHADOWS, JUST THE SHADOWS THAT A FAN MAKES FROM A CEILING FAN.
AND I CAN FIND A LOT MORE FANS THAT WAY.
WE HAVE FANS FROM AUSTRALIA, ITALY, FRANCE, GERMANY, SINGAPORE, JUST OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD.
ONE OF THE INTERESTING EARLY STORIES, I WAS IN KENYA.
TO START A TOUR, AND PRIOR TO THE TOUR, WE GOTTEN IN THE NIGHT BEFORE, A POLITICAL RIOT BROKE OUT.
STARTED AT OUR HOTEL, SPREAD INTO THE PARK NEXT DOOR AND THE TOUR OPERATOR SENT A CAR AND DRIVER OVER JUST TO GET US OUT OF TOWN, UNTIL THINGS CALMED DOWN.
AND THE DRIVER ASKED, WHAT DID I WANT TO DO?
I ASKED, WELL, DO YOU HAVE A RAIL MUSEUM?
HE SAID, THEY DO.
A REALLY NICE ONE.
SO HE TOOK US OVER THERE, AND A FANTASTIC COLONIAL ERA RAIL STATION AND IN THE RAIL YARD WERE TWO SLEEPER CARS AND THERE WERE 14DC-POWERED WALL-MOUNTED FANS IN THE COMPARTMENTS.
AND I WAS ABLE TO BUY TWO OF THEM FROM THE MUSEUM.
THESE DAYS, eBAY SORT OF TOOK SOME OF THE THRILL OUT OF THE HUNT.
♪ I DON'T KNOW THAT WE HAVE -- NECESSARILY HAVE A FAVORITE FAN JOKE.
YOU KNOW, YOU HEAR FANTASTIC A LOT.
WE ALSO MAKE A HAND FAN, A GIVEAWAY HERE AT THE MUSEUM, AND IT SAYS, YOU KNOW WHEN YOUR ARM GETS TIRED, GIVE US A CALL.
I LIKE THINGS MECHANICAL.
I ALWAYS HAVE.
YOU KNOW, YOU PICK ANY COLLECTION, ANYTHING THAT'S ANTIQUE, THE TECHNIQUES AND DESIGNS THAT WERE AROUND 100 YEARS AGO, ARE AMAZING.
IT'S A RATHER LIMITED GROUP OF INTEREST IN THIS.
BUT THOSE OF WHITE HOUSE US WHO ARE INTO IT ARE REALLY INTO IT.
WHEN I TALK IN HERE, I'M OFTEN REIMPRESSED BY THE COLLECTION AND I COME IN HERE FAIRLY OFTEN.
ANYBODY INTERESTED IN THINGS OF THE PAST, SHOULD VISIT THE MUSEUM.
YOU WILL SEE THINGS THAT MY GRANDPARENTS HAD THIS OR I USED TO HAVE THIS PARTICULAR FAN.
PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT'S IN THE MUSEUM, HAVE LOW EXPECTATIONS, BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN ONE PERSON YET WHO ISN'T BLOWN AWAY BY WHAT THEY FIND IN HERE.

♪ IN THE '90s, THERE WAS A BRAND CALLED OCTAVA THAT WAS LIKE THE FIRST AFFORDABLE BUT REALLY GREAT SOUNDING MICROPHONE AND THAT'S WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND I BOUGHT A COUPLE.
OH, THAT'S COOL.
I'M RUSSIAN AND THEY ARE RUSSIAN MICS AND THEY SOUND GREAT.
AND THEN I WENT DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE IN THE EARLY DAYS OF eBAY AND I FOUND THESE OLD VINTAGE RUSSIAN MICS.
THEY WERE SO CHEAP BACK THEN AND THEN I DID MY INTERNSHIP AT ELECTRICAL AUDIO AND THEY HAVE THIS -- A BUNCH OF REALLY COOL VINTAGE SOVIET MICS THAT I WASN'T AWARE OF AND I FELL IN LOVE WITH THEM.
AND IT WAS JUST LIKE SORT OF A COINCIDENCE OR SERENDIPITOUS THAT I WAS ALSO RUSSIAN BUT THESE MICS REGARDLESS OF MY NATIONALITY OR MY UPBRINGING OR FAMILY, WERE JUST -- THEY LOOK LIKE NO OTHER MIC YOU HAVE EVER SEEN.
THIS REALLY COOL ART DECO STYLE.
THEY ARE BUILT REALLY WELL, AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THEY SOUNDED JUST STUNNING.
>> THE SOVIET ERA RUSSIAN MICROPHONES WERE MADE FOR CERTAIN PURPOSES IN DIFFERENT FACTORIES MANUFACTURED BY THE GOVERNMENT.
ONE FACTORY MADE ONLY MICROPHONES USED FOR FILM OR CINEMA AND CLASSICAL MUSIC.
MADE TO BE THE BEST AND ALL THE MONEY WENT INTO THE PRODUCT.
AND AS HE LEARNED ABOUT THEIR HISTORY, HE BECAME OBSESSED WITH THIS MICROPHONE AND BEGAN SEEKING THEM OUT.
SOON HE HAD COLLECTED 80 DIFFERENT RUSSIAN MICROPHONES FROM THIS ERA.
BUT HIS COLLECTION DOESN'T JUST FEATURE CLASSIC RUSSIAN MICROPHONES OR GERMAN MICROPHONES BUT AN AMERICAN CLASSIC MICROPHONE THAT STRETCHES BACK 100 YEARS.
>> SO RCA DEVELOPED ONLY 50 OF THESE MICROPHONES AND THEY WERE COMMISSIONED AND DEVELOPED SPECIFICALLY FOR NEW YORK'S RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL.
AND THOSE 50 MICS LIVED IN THERE UNTIL THE '80s AND THEN WHEN THEY REPLACED THE SYSTEM, MOUNTAIN MICROPHONES GOT THROWN A -- SOME OF THE MICS GOT THROWN AWAY AND SOME MADE IT OUT.
I THINK ONLY 12 ARE KNOWN TO EXIST.
WE HAVE ONE RCA PB-31.
WHICH IS ALMOST 100 YEARS OLD NOW.
AND WHAT'S PHENOMENAL ABOUT IT IS IT SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL.
AND IT'S JUST AMAZING, THAT YOU KNOW, SO MANY YEARS LATER, THE FIRST RIBBON MICROPHONE SOUNDS BETTER THAN, YOU KNOW, MOST OF THE RICKON RIBBON MICS IN OUR COLLECTION.
♪ >> THE MICROPHONE COLLECTION IS A VERY SMALL PIECE OF MIKE'S GROWING ONE OF A KIND COLLECTION.
ONE OF HIS PRIZED POSSESSIONS, ONE OF THE RAREST ITEMS TO BE FEATURED IN THE RECORDING STUDIO IS THE MIXING CONSOLE.
WHILE MOST RELY ON COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE TO MIX AUDIO AND EFFECTS, RUSSIAN RECORDING USES AN ANALOG MIXING BOARD THAT HAS BEEN A STAPLE.
BASED IN BLOOMINGTON'S ECHO PARK STUDIOS OWNED BY JOHN MELLON CAMP'S GUITAR PLAYER, IT HAS BEEN USED FOR MANY CLASSIC ALBUMS IN THE '80s, '90s AND 2000s.
>> WHEN I WAS A STUDENT MY FIRST YEAR, WE DID A TOUR OF THAT STUDIO, AND I SAW THAT CONSOLE, THE SPHERE ECLIPSE AND I THOUGHT, I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS THING, BUT I WANT THAT CONSOLE!
I DIDN'T KNOW HOW RARE IT WAS OR THE HISTORY BEHIND, IT BUT IT LOOKED JUST LIKE A WEIRD COMBINATION OF, LIKE, IT WAS MADE OUT OF LEGOS OR SOMETHING.
I DON'T KNOW.
IT JUST LOOKED SO COOL.
SURE ENOUGH, IN ABOUT 2010, I FOUND OUT THAT ECHO PARK WAS SELLING THEIR SPHERE ECLIPSE CONSOLE.
I FINALLY GOT IN MY STUDIO AND I STARTED LEARNING A LOT MORE ABOUT IT.
SPHERE CONSOLES ARE ACTUALLY PRETTY LEGENDARY AND A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT THEM BECAUSE SO FEW WERE MADE.
I BELIEVE 52 WERE MADE.
THERE'S 12 LEFT IN EXISTENCE THAT ARE WORKING IN THE WORLD.
AND OURS, AS IT TURNS OUT WAS ONE OF THE VERY FIRST ONES MADE AND IT'S THE ONLY ECLIPSE TYPE TWO EVER MADE.
THAT'S REALLY RARE AND IMPORTANT PIECE FOR US.
WE HAVE A LOT OF RARE VINTAGE INSTRUMENTS.
SO WE REFURBISHED THUNDER ROADS AND A WHIRLITZER, AND IF THEY WANT A LES PAUL, THEY PROBABLY HAVE A GIBSON LESS PAUL.
LES PAUL.
SO I HAVE GUITARS.
WE HAVE RARE AND INTERESTING EFFECTS UNITS AND A LOT OF VINTAGE STUFF AND GUITAR PANELS.

FINALLY, WE ARE HEADED NORTH TO NOBLE COUNTY FOR A LOOK AT A FORMER ICON OF THE INDIANA LANDSCAPE.

FIELDS OF TURBINES LIKE THESE IN MADISON COUNTY HARNESS THE WIND AND PROVIDE POWER FOR THE SURROUNDING AREA.
AROUND A CENTURY AGO, THE SCENE WOULD HAVE LOOKED MORE LIKE THIS.
THIS WAS THE ERA OF THE AGRICULTURAL WINDMILL, AND NEARLY EVERY FARM HAD ONE.
>> WIND POWER WAS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE YOU HAD WATER TO COOK WITH, CATTLE, TO TAKE A BATH.
IF YOU DIDN'T HAVE THE WINDMILLS BACK THEN THIS WAS TO WAY TO GET WATER UP FROM THE GROUND.
>> THE WINDMILL WAS ALSO AN INTRYINTEGRAL PART OF THE WESTWARD EXPANSIONION.
>> THEY WOULD HAVE THE WINDMILLS NEXT TO THE TRACK, AND THEN THEY WOULD STILL THE STEAM ENGINE.
AT THE SAME TIME THAT WINDMILL COULD TAKE CARE OF THE CATTLE IN THAT AREA.
SO IT WAS A DUAL PURPOSE WINDMILL.
>> AND FOR MORE THAN A QUARTER CENTURY A UNIQUE NEARLY ONE OF A KIND MUSEUM IN NORTHWEST, INDIANA, HAS BEEN KEEPING THIS HISTORY ALIVE.
♪ >> WE ARE IN KENDALLVILLE INDIANA, AT THE MIDAMERICA WINDMILL MUSEUM.
WE ARE ONE OF TWO MUSEUMS OPENED IN THE UNITED STATES.
THERE'S ANOTHER ONE OPEN DOWN IN TEXAS.
MAY 23rd, 1994, WE HAD A GRAND OPENING OF OUR MUSEUM, WHEN WE FIRST STARTED, WE JUST HAD TEN WINDMILLS.
WE ARE UP OVER 50 SOME IN DISPLAY AT THIS POINT, AND WE HAVE MORE TO GO UP.
SO WE HAVE JUST GAINED A LOT THROUGH THE 25 YEARS, AND WHEN WE LOOK BACK, IT'S AMAZING WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH.
>> THE MUSEUM LOCATED ON 40 ACRES EAST OF KENDALLVILLE IS RUN ENTIRELY BY VOLUNTEERS.
THEY GIVE TOURS AND STAFF THE GIFT SHOP.
AND A LOT OF VOLUNTEER HOURS GO TOWARDS MAINTAINING THE WINDMILLS THEMSELVES.
>> THE ONE OVER HERE TOOK 160 MANPOWERS TO REASSEMBLE AND GET BACK TO NEW AGAIN.
WE HAVE ANOTHER METAL ONE THAT TOOK SHUN 100 HOURS.
IT'S VERY TIME INTENSIVE.
>> SO WHY KENDALLVILLE?
>> AT ONE TIME THERE, WAS 90 WINDMILL COMPANIES WITHIN AN 80-MILE RAIDOUS EVER KENDALLVILLE.
THIS WAS KIND OF A HUB WITH INDIANA, MICHIGAN, AND OHIO.
>> THE LARGEST OF THESE 90 COMPANIES WAS FLINT AND WALLING, AT ONE TIME THE SECOND LARGEST MANUFACTURER OF WINDMILLS IN THE COUNTRY.
>> FIRST MADE WINDMILL WAS IN 1878 AND THEY QUIT MAKING THEM IN 1954.
>> THERE WERE 11 DIFFERENT MODELS OF CLINT FLINT AND WALLING WINDMILLS.
EACH AN IMPROVEMENT ON THE PREVIOUS GENERATION.
>> WHEN THEY FIRST STARTED MAKING THEM THEY WERE WOOD WINDMILLS.
AND THEN THEY GOT INTO THE METAL WINDMILLS.
WE HAVE ALL 11 IN OUR COLLECTION.
WE DON'T HAVE THEM ALL UP YET.
WE HAVE ONE OUTSIDE THAT IS HOOKED UP TO A WELL.
IT'S THE ONLY ONE WE HAVE HOOKED UP TO A WELL.
IT IS THE LAST WINDMILL OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE OF FLINT AND WALLING.
AND THAT'S A VERY NEAT FEATURE FOR US TO HAVE.
>> FLINT AND WALLING WHICH LONG AGO MADE THE SWITCH FROM WINDMILLS TO SUBMERSIBLEPUMPS IS VERY MUCH A PART OF KENDALLVILLE.
AND IT'S PART OF THE MIDWEST WINDMILL MUSEUM.
BUT THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY WINDMILLS YOU WILL FIND HERE.
IN FACT, THE MAJORITY ARE FROM OTHER MANUFACTURERS.
>> WERE A WINDMILL MUSEUM THAT FEATURES ACTUALLY THREE DIFFERENT TYPES OF WINDMILLS.
A WATER WINDMILL THAT PEOPLE SEE, THAT THE AMISH USE TODAY AND THE OTHER IS A POWER WINDMILL WILL RUN A SHAFT FROM A WINDMILL TO A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT AND RUN A CORN SHELLER OR A SAW OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
AND THEN WE HAVE THE ROBERTSONED MILL WHICH IS A GRINDING WINDMILL.
A LOT OF THEM ARE DIFFERENT MODELS LIKE AIR MOTOR MADE MANY DIFFERENT MODELS OF WINDMILLS.
SO SOME DIDN'T MAKE AS MANY MODELS OR ONLY EVER MADE ONE.
>> A UNIQUE MUSEUM, CELEBRATING AND SHARING A UNIQUE PART OF HOOSIER HISTORY.
>> WE'VE HAD PEOPLE FROM ALL 50 STATES.
WE'VE HAD 44 FOREIGN COUNTRIES REPRESENTED WITH PEOPLE HERE WHICH WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT, IT THAT'S A LOT OF DIFFERENT PEOPLE VISITING FROM ALL AROUND THE WORLD.
SO IT'S BEEN REALLY A NEAT ATTRACTION TO OUR COMMUNITY.
