We are on our sixth day with no strikes.
Dan: Michael met a cousin serving in the Army.
Mike: Mike's got a pretty cool job.
This is pretty neat.
[laughs] Dan: Preshious viewed her father's photo for the very first time.
So good to see these pictures.
Dan: And a last-place finish...
Team Black.
You have received your second strike.
--left Team Black only one strike away from elimination.
Dan: DNA tells us who we are and where we came from.
Following their own DNA, four teams are racing... [Jerica screaming] ...to win $50,000... Yeah, baby!
...and to find their family!

♪ ♪ Dan: Day 7 dawns and another day of Relative Race begins.
Paris: We need one more day without a strike, and we're guaranteed to go to Day 10.
Dan: As our three remaining teams feel the heavy weight of competition.
Paris: Going into Day 7 with no strikes is surprising, but if there is ever a time where we had to bring our A-game, it's today.
Dan: Hoping to avoid a strike today, Team Green nervously begins their morning in Houston, Texas Up in New England, Team Red prepares to depart from Milford, Connecticut, after securing two first-place victories in a row.
Mike: We got Houston, Texas, Anderson, South Carolina, and we're in New England.
It's crunch time.
It's attention to detail, execution, positivity.
Yeah.
Joe: The thought of not meeting two relatives is what's the most disappointing about possibly getting a strike.
Dan: And in Anderson, South Carolina, Team Black seems unusually calm after receiving their second strike last night.
[zen music] Joe: Okay, guys.
I figured it would be good to start off the day on a new page and just release any stress.
That's a good idea.
Yeah?
Joe: So, I thought it was important, especially after the night we had last night, to just recharge, and I let them know we are going to do some morning yoga and meditation together.
This is called the butter dragon pose.
Take one foot like this, yeah?
I don't know if they knew this or not, but I actually know nothing about yoga.
And then you just, you just want to breathe.
[laughing] Jerica: It wasn't the greatest, but you did good.
You did good.
It wasn't-- I thought it was pretty good.
And say, "Go Team Black."
All: Go Team Black!

That's it.
[clapping] Dan: As Team Black connects with their inner zen, Team Red connects with Michael's cousin in the Army.
Mike: So, dude, I got something I wanna do.
Okay.
I didn't know I was gonna be meeting a relative that was in the service, and I wanted to share that with someone that could appreciate it.
This is, this is my Desert Storm vet hat, and this is the submarine warfare insignia.
I'd like you to take it and have it.
Wow.
That's amazing.
Those look like aviation wings.
Almost, but a little better.
Well, if we're gonna do this, I gotta give you, you know, cool Black Hawk army hat.
There's a special thing about this hat.
A, it's very dirty, because I've been wearing it all the time.
That's, that's what I need.
But, secondly, this hat is a commemorative hat for the helicopter crash in our unit last year and then, you got my last name on there.
So you know it's mine.
Mike: He gave me his Black Hawk personalized hat.
There's a lot of pride that goes with our covers.
That's what we call them.
And it's God, family, country, and we're on the same team.
So it was pretty touching.
I'll wear it with pride, brother.
Yeah.

♪ [phone dings] Oh.
Uh, it's Dan.
Dan's texting us.

Austen: Okay.
"Good morning, teams, "and welcome to Day 7 of Relative Race.
Jerica: "Team Black will be traveling "to Sevierville, Tennessee.
Austen: "Team Red will be traveling "to Bozrah, Connecticut.
Paris: "And Team Green will be traveling to Austin, Texas.
Jerica: "Today's first place winner will receive immunity or a Day 10 benefit."
Joe: Immunity is on the line.
So much for meditation to calm us down.
Austen: "Immunity or a Day 10 benefit."
Mike: Immunity is the prize to win on this show.
So, yeah.
We're taking immunity.
Paris: "Your time starts now."
"Your time starts now."
No!
Austen: "Your time starts now."
Mike: All right.
We need immunity.
All right, we gotta roll.
We need immunity.
That would be amazing.
Whoa.
Okay.
Jerica: We gotta go!
All right, man.
All right, cuz.
Like half a mile later, you're gonna hit Route 1 and then Route 95.
Come on.
Jerica: All right.
We love you.
Here we go, Daddy-o.
It's gonna be a left here then.
Left, Joe!

Oh, I'm sorry.
[honk] Stakes about to get real high.
Jerica: Go around.
Joe: I am.
That's what I'm doing.
It's Day 7 of Relative Race.
All of our teams continue to race along different paths, each team looking for new relatives, each in a different location.
All of our teams still have their eyes set on the finish line, this season in an undisclosed location.
At the start of the race six days ago in North Carolina, all of our teams surrendered their smartphones and all use of technology in exchange for paper maps and flip phones with no GPS or Internet access.
Now, they're headed to a new city.
They must take a selfie to prove that they've made it, successfully complete a common challenge, and find their relative, each in a different allotted time.
The team that goes over their allotted time the most will, once again, receive a strike.
Three strikes and you're out of the race.
This is Day 7 of Relative Race.
♪ Joe: This car smells like a dog and that's kind of a problem.
Did you touch the dog today?
Yeah.
Ugh.
Dan: With immunity on the line, Team Black will stop for nothing as they race towards Sevierville, Tennessee.
Once there, they must complete a challenge and find their relative in an allotted time of 3 hours and 42 minutes.
Head towards... Worch-- Worcester?
Norwich [indistinct] Worcester or something.
Wooster.
Wooster.
Woostah.
Woostah.
[New York accent] Come here, Woostah.
Dan: Team Red is heading towards "Woostah" to find their city of Bozrah, Connecticut.
They have the shortest allotted time of the day at 1 hour and 52 minutes.
Hoo, it is burning up.
Yeah, I don't know if I wanna live in somewhere hot all the time now.
Dan: And things are heating up for Team Green as they trek across Texas towards the city of Austin.
Their allotted time for the day is 3 hours and 14 minutes.
All three teams forge ahead.
Mike: So far, so good.
Dan: And with immunity up for grabs, nobody is holding back.
Austen: You know, pride comes before the fall.
But I'm sayin'.
If we can get immunity for tomorrow, we're definitely going to Day 10.
It's getting harder because-- It's immunity now.
Now it's immunity.
And I think I've wanted that immunity so bad too, but that's not gonna happen.
Paris: So, let's say we come in last, get a strike.
Next time around-- They don't get one.
--is gonna be really only two teams.
Yes.
We could very well get three strikes in a row.
I think we're just nervous after last night.
I'm really nervous.
Like, I woke up all calm and like, now I'm just like, oh my goodness.
Every wrong turn we make could basically send us home.
Dan: While Team Black worries about tonight's benefit... Mike: Let's talk about gettin' to Day 10 and what this benefit's gonna mean.
Dan: Team Red reflects on the Day 10 benefit they won last night.
I have it right here.
Mike: Great, let's check it out.
I don't know what to make of it, but maybe you do.
I guess it talks about her hobbies, her car/vehicle, favorite color, favorite baseball team, residence, and activity.
Austen: Michael pulls out the Day 10 benefit and it's a photo of Camille, who we met on Day 1, and it has some facts about her, and we really have no idea what it means.
After seeing the Day 10 benefit, I sat down with Mike and asked a whole bunch of questions.
I started asking very specific questions.
That's my-- That's my varmint.
That's how we roll.
So, I made sure to do that.
Every day, I've been writing down details so I'm hoping that my inquisitiveness comes in handy should we make it to Day 10.
It's an advantage.
We just don't know what advantage it is yet, so stay tuned.

Dan: Back in Tennessee...
Falling rocks?

Dan: The mountains threaten Team Black.
Joe: We don't drive in the mountains a lot.
What if one falls on us?
Actually, I've never driven through mountains ever.
Whoa, what is this?
So, when I saw this tunnel, I'm like, thinking, "Wait, are we going inside the mountain?"
Oh my goodness.
I don't think I've ever driven in a tunnel before.
Oh, did it go through the mountain?
Yeah, we just went under a mountain.
Weird.
Come to find out, it's just a tunnel that takes you to the other side, which is kind of handy, actually.
Well, that's helpful.
Dan: Having put the long drive in their rear view mirrors, our teams are now on the lookout for their city signs.
Preshious actually noticed a sign for a pet motel.
Preshious: Okay, come on.
Let's take this picture.
Here, give me the phone.
Jerica: Thankfully, we see a big old sign saying Sevierville, and we're within city limits.
Come here.
Joe: Yep.
Take.
[camera shutter] Joe: Look.
Jerica: All right.
Options... Joe: Is it in?
Jerica: Yep.
Austen: A little lower.
[camera shutter] Okay.
Preshious: Go.
[camera shutter] Can you see "Austin"?
Paris: Yeah.
Preshious: Send it.
[phone dings] Joe: Okay.
Jerica: Okay.
Joe: What does it say?
Wawekus.
Say Wawekus four times fast.

[dog barks] ♪ Mike: These challenges-- We gotta be spot-on on everything.

Man, this is the point that makes me anxious and nauseous.
Yeah.
I'm never excited about challenges.
Both: Never.
Paris: Who would put a business up here?
Who would put any type of club up here?
Mike: We're coming back here in the woods.
I'm thinking this challenge might be spot how many ticks we can find.
Joe: Skydiving with your relatives.
Ha, just kidding.
Mike: It could be some kind of club [chuckles], We could be going hunting.
Preshious: Austin Archery Club.
Okay, just like, slow down.
Joe: Oh, this is it.
I see something.
Preshious: This is the last place you need to be if it's dark.
Austen: Archery?
That sounds fun.
Aw, man.
That sounds fun!
Let's shoot something.

Austen: Let's see what it is.
Might be fun.
Mike: What do we got?
Preshious: Okay.

"Shoot arrows through the correct answers on targets.
"Stick 10 correct answers to pass this challenge.
"Your allotted time for the day includes 15 minutes to complete this challenge."
Preshious: Let's go, go, go.
Hopefully it's more like grade school and a little less like algebra.
Dan: Day 7's challenge for all teams is archematics.
This challenge will test team's math and archery skills.
Teams are given multiple choice math problems to solve.
Once solved, teammates alternate shooting a bow and arrow at a target depicting the correct answer.
Ten correct answers and the challenge is complete.
So many... All right, you gonna shoot first?
Yeah, I'll shoot first.
I have never shot a bow before, but I'm thinking that I know the basic principles and that I'm gonna still be able to figure it out pretty quickly.
Mike: Shoot the answer that I tell you, okay?
Um, excuse you.
What if you're wrong?
Mike: Then shoot whatever you wanna shoot.
Okay.
Joe: [reading question] Preshious: 36 and 9 is 4?
What's 24 and 6?

Negative one, D. Preshious: C, do C. Paris: Although I've never, you know, shot a bow and arrow before, that's just something I thought that I would pick up pretty quick.
Oh, goodness.
Austen: First time I've pulled a bow back.
I'm super excited and I'm feeling like, maybe I should be a huntress or something.
And it actually does not go.
It totally hurts, just in case you were wondering.
Joe: Do you know this one, Jerica?
Paris: C. C, still?
Ugh.
Flip, okay.
I think this challenge was challenging for everybody.
Joe: Okay, okay.
♪ Oh, yeah.

Mike: You're allotted one minute, and I was figuring, it is better to take a wrong shot than not take a shot at all at that one minute point.
[groans in frustration] Almost.
Austen: [reading question] Mike: Give me a num-- something.

A, you sure?
Yeah.
I don't know how to use this.

This challenge looked tough, but I was blown away by Preshious' accuracy.
Preshious: Okay, what's 14?

[laughs] Good shot.

She's basically Robin Hood.
[laughs] Uh, B, B.

Jerica: It's okay.
Paris: A.

[ding] Paris: She didn't miss a single target.
Preshious is unstoppable right now.

[coughs] Joe: This was definitely one of the most difficult challenges yet.
Mike: [reading question] Joe: [reading question] Mike: Twelve, one, two, three, four.

Jerica: To the, to the four.
So it's gonna be... South, southeast.
It would be north.

[buzzer] Joe: Ugh.
Incorrect.
Mike: D. [buzzer] Ugh.

Preshious: So, we finished this challenge.
We now have our relative's address, and we're about to wipe this sweat off and head there.

Dan: With Team Green back on the road to find their relative the arrows are still flying for Teams Red and Black.
Joe: [reading question] Austen: Uh, one, two, three, four, five, six.
Six, D. Joe: Uh, four.
No wait.
C, 5.
[ding] Jerica: Are you sure?
I'm pos-- Just shoot C. Just shoot C. [buzzer] [Joe groans] Jerica: This challenge could be more challenging than we originally expected.
Austen: One hundred and twenty dollars.
A letter please.
C'mon, babe.
Austen: Stop!
Dad just starts yelling, "Give me an answer," which is not helpful.
[buzzer] Ugh.
Austen: So, I kinda yelled at him a little bit.
Dan: While Team Red's aim is off target, Team Green aims to target their relative's address.
Preshious: The challenge was different.
It was interesting.
Now we have the address to the relative's house.
That's okay.
Just try to find them.
You try to find the street.
What's the street again?
Paris: Leaving the challenge, not knowing where we were, or not knowing how to find where we were on the map, we already knew we were pretty much at a disadvantage.
Where are we at?

That's where it's at though, babe.
Once you get up in there.
Well, we don't know where we are right now to know what direction we're going in.
We just didn't know where we were on the map.
Preshious: I don't know.
We gotta go by something to figure out what we're by.

I don't know if you should make a left or a right to go deeper in there.
So, right now, it's not looking good.
That was not it.
That's not Round Rock.
This isn't it.
Let's ask people how to get to 35 North.
Then we'll figure it out.

Dan: As the day wears on, Teams Red and Black continue to battle through archematics.
Mike: That's the right answer.
Fire it at B.
Okay, be quiet.
Shh.
Dan: Team Green searches for their relatives.
Don't know what this is at all.
Dan: And their head start comes to a grinding halt.
Paris: So we pull over to ask a guy who really didn't speak English Man: [speaking Spanish] Left.
Paris: He gives us directions... Preshious: What, what, what?
Left on 360, right on 193.
Didn't seem like they were very accurate.
Preshious: Left on 360?
That's, that's what he said.
This is insane.
Insane.
That's not even 35.
He told me left on 360.
Oh, okay.
So, is this 360?
Left on 360.
No.
He still-- that still doesn't make sense.
We're on top of not really knowing if we were going in the right direction, it was quite a traffic jam that we ran into, so that was another thing.
Preshious: South.
Let's go south.
Go south.
It all just started falling apart, and I don't know how we're going to recover from this.
Dan: Back at the challenge, shots are starting to stick for the other teams.
Joe: At first I struggled with the bow and arrow, but once I got the hang of it, it wasn't too bad.
Go.
[ding] Jerica: Yes!
When I first began to shoot, they were going over the target and then I realized that I needed to keep my back arm level.
[ding] Mike: Nice.
Jerica: We finally get a rhythm going and we're able to get ten correct answers.
[ding] Yeah, that's ten.
C'mon, Pook.
Guess, C. No, B.
[ding] Yeah!
We done?
It was an accident.
I don't think that we crushed this challenge, but you gotta keep on going.
Your relative lives at 8 Alger street.
Jerica: Greenbrier Campground Site 71.

Jerica: We're going to some kind of campground.

Joe: No.
Both: Ugh.
Dan: With all three teams charging towards their relatives, Team Green will have to step it up if they plan on keeping their lead.
Preshious: Left on 360.

Paris: The key word for today I would say is communication.
That's pretty much where things went left.

Jerica: Perfect.

We get perfect directions at the restaurant, and now we're only a few blocks away.

Joe: Campground.

Jerica: Greenbrier, I think that's it.

Austen: Alger, right there, I see it.

Joe: Ugh, we found it, Jerica.

We pull in and we see our relatives sitting at a picnic table in front of a camper.

We're actually at a campground with no running water or restrooms that we know of.
We're not really sure what to think yet.
So glad we made it.
Well, it's been a long ride.

Joe: It's been an interesting day.
So, have a little... seat.
Jerica: Okay!
Joe: Okay, we're excited to hear all about this.
Hi, I'm Jeff Morgan.
I'm Joe and Jerica's cousin, and I love camping.
Joe: So where are you from?
Jeff: I'm from Milford, Connecticut.
Really?
What are you doing here?
Well, we heard that you were gonna be coming through town, and we're big campers, so we figured we'd come down this way and meet you guys.

So, are you guys big campers?
[laughs] And this looks like it might have been their first time.
And that's okay, because we're camping together.
We're definitely not professional campers, so you'll just have to-- You won't have to worry about bears or anything here.
Excellent, we're gonna have a great time.

We're just excited to find out what's in store for the evening.
[harmonica music] Dan: Back in the Texas heat, Team Green still hasn't cooled off.
I need to actually be able to see the street so I can try to find it.
Pull in here so I can figure it out.
We're already dealing with no communication, so again, I'm still trying to look and see what we can do, 'cause we still have to finish.
There goes a cab.
I happen to see a taxi driver, so I'm thinking maybe he might know how to get us from point A to point B.
Can you tell me the quickest way to get to Paladin Place from here?
Taxi Driver: All right.
Preshious: While talking to the taxi driver, he actually gave some pretty good detailed directions.
This is the best way you can save time.
Okay.
On your trip, because you get 79, you're gonna get stuck in traffic.
Preshious: So after the directions from the taxi driver we get back on the road.
Thank you!
Taxi driver: Hey, take care!
Now we have the address to the relative's house.
Austen: We roll up to our relative's house today and there is a cute little boy standing next to this pretty woman.
Hi!
Woman: Hey there.
Hey.
Who are you?
[laughter] Dad immediately says, "Who are you?"
How many relatives on your father's side have you met so far?
I have met my brother and I've met my niece.
I've met my sister Cynthia.
And that's when it just clicked 'cause she looks just like her.
You look a lot like Cynthia.
And as soon as I said it, she smiled, and the resemblance was astounding.
I knew the smile, I knew the resemblance, and it's just, you have got to be my sister Cynthia's daughter.
Nicki: I'm Nicki and I'm Cynthia's daughter, your niece.
That's a trip.
You look like your mom.
Nicki: I am Nicki Waring, and I'm Michael Brown's niece.
And standing next to Nicki is her son, my cousin Jarrod.
Wow, hey!
And you must be?
I'm Jarrod.
Mike: Jarrod , hey!

I think I'm your uncle?

The easy smile, the warm eyes, the whole spirit, the whole vibe is totally there.
It felt like just meeting a family member that I've known forever.
So how's it been meeting other family members?
It's been so awesome.
I'm really starting to get used to being part of the family.
It's kind of cool.
When I first saw Jarrod, I immediately feel joy because I'm missing my children, and there's a kid there.
Oh yeah, how's the race?
Austen: Guess what we did today?
We got to shoot a bow and arrow.
What?
Yeah!
First we had to answer a bunch of math questions.
Austen: Yeah.
Ah, yeah.
Nicki: It just felt so comfortable and meeting him for the first time, because he's family.
You look so much like Uncle El.
That's what I hear.
[laughter] ♪ You're gonna take a right onto Green Lawn Boulevard.
So after the directions from the taxi driver, we finally find the right street and now we are ready to meet our relative.
Right there on the right, Paladin.
Paris: Aside from the challenge and the navigation, I mean, at the end of the day, the goal of the day was to meet a relative, so the most important thing is to leave whatever negativity in the car and move on, because this is the most exciting part of the day.
Whose relative are you?

Christine: My name is Christine Renee Fields and Preshious is my niece.
Preshious: I meet my mom's sister Christine, and I've heard that they were pretty close.
You look so much like her.
Preshious: I've been told.
I was just really overjoyed to see her face for the first time after 22 years.
She says, you know, come on in the house and let me show you around.
Oh, my goodness!
And to my surprise, it is so many family members that are in there.
This is your family.

Christine: This is your uncle Justin.
Preshious: Hi.
And then just one by one we start hugging, and I get introduced.
This is your Auntie Lakin.
Preshious: Oh my goodness.
It means so much to finally find family.
It was special.
And then there's one more man in the corner that Christine introduces me to.
Christine: And this is your grandfather.
Oh my goodness!
[applause] Hi, Preshious!
Do you remember me?
I remember you!

Christine: He used to take care of you.
Yes, I did.
Preshious: Oh, wow.
My name is Thomas Earl Lewis.
I'm Preshious's grandfather.
[laughter] Preshious: It's like a dream.
It's like a dream... that is really true now and real and I don't know, it's like I'm watching myself to finally meet family and it's just finally happening ♪ ♪ Get over here close as you can, ♪ ♪ I've been alone in this place.
♪ ♪ I want to get face to face.
♪ Preshious: It's been so long.
[sobs] Christine: It's just like hugging my sister.
Just, they look so much alike and I miss that.
Woman: You're stuck with us!

♪ Dan: As the evening wears on, Team Black takes a walk with their new cousin, Jeff.
Jerica: Jeff shared with us that we are his first biological relatives that he is going camping with other than his own children, which was really cool.
Jeff: I grew up being adopted.
Really?
And I had recently had somebody reach out to me through Ancestry and say hey, I'm your cousin.
How do you fit into the family tree?
And I said, you're the first person ever to ask me that.
You tell me how I fit into the family tree.
I am Joe and Jerica's cousin through my father's side of the family, and recently, I found out that my biological father is alive.
So fast forward from January 'til now, and I'm going to meet my biological father tomorrow.
Really?
Along with several siblings.
Yes.
Wow!
Which he never knew he had.
I'll be meeting a brother later on and I found out that I have three brothers and I have two sisters and I had no idea about any of that stuff.
Are you serious?
That's amazing!
I am so serious, yes.
His dad is actually really close to here.
He lives in Kentucky.
Yeah.
And to be a small part of like meeting Jeff before this is about to happen-- You can't even put it into words.
I'm looking forward to doing some camping tonight.

And I'm glad that we can share this experience with you guys.
Jerica: I am so glad we came too.
Jeff: Yeah, this is gonna be great.
I'm really happy.
Dan: Back in Connecticut, Team Red takes an emotional drive.
Mike: I've learned so much about my dad in the last seven days.
Some bad, but mostly good.
So Nicki asked me if I'm ready to visit my father.
And I think I am.
I think I'm ready.
This is my dad.
Yes.
Mike: And she showed me where my father and his wife were laying in rest.
It was very peaceful, it was very quiet, very beautiful.
It's a beautiful place.
[soft music] Mike: In seven days, Relative Race has taken me from not knowing anybody, not knowing my father's name, to now having a family that I can't see the end of, and that it's gonna go on for the rest of our lives.
[soft music] I wish we had, like, a cone or something to put 'em-- Just lay 'em.

While we're there, my older sister and my younger brother come on up behind us and surprise us.
That was a good surprise.

Mike: It was really nice to have the beginning of the book with the chapters that are being written right there in one spot.
This isn't the end, this is the beginning of the family.
Mm-hmm.
It's my baby brother saying that stuff.
Dropping wisdom.
Austen: You couldn't wait to say "baby brother."
[laughter] I've been waiting for it!
I've been waiting for it.
I had that in my pocket.
It was magical.
It was pretty cool.

[soft music] Dan: Back in the Lone Star State, Preshious is finally reunited with her mother's family after 22 long years.
Preshious: We go sit down and we're on the couch and my aunt, she gives me this letter.
Before my sister died, she did write a letter, you know.
It may be a little hard to read but those are her words.
That's her handwriting and everything.
Christine: Yes, her handwriting.
Preshious: Her handwriting, just her words, any memory, is important to me.
And so I'm trying to, like, grab everything that I can to take with me.
What happened the day you found her?
Devon's picture and my picture was with her.
She was... Next to her.
It's nice to hear that she had our picture next to her.
I'm just happy she remembered us.
It was nice to know she passed remembering us too.
And I love her.
I always think about her still.
[sobs] I just wish I could have met her.
I wish she was... it wasn't too late.
But thank you.
This is how it was supposed to happen for me.
This show was how I was supposed to get some answers, so I'm thankful.

Joe: He walks over to go get something, and we're kind of like thinking, what is going on here?
Jerica: Oh.

Joe: Ooh.
Jerica: Jeff brings out some tents.
Okay.
Joe: Oh!

Jeff: It's all about camping, right?
That is true.
Sure.
[country music] Jeff: Okay, so you guys get set up right here, and Lucy and I are gonna get dinner ready.
Jerica: All right.
Lucy: Good luck.
Jerica: Thanks.
Joe: What is that supposed to mean?
I'm not really sure, is this like a joke, or you know, what's gonna happen next, but the camera crew is still filming, so I'm thinking, wait, maybe they're serious.
Maybe we're actually gonna sleep in tents tonight.
Is there an instruction manual or something?
Well, first, you've got to get it out.
Joe: So we're literally like sleeping in the tent on rocks.
Do you know how to...?
Do you stick these inside?
Whoa, what are you doing?
I'm getting it ready.
Jeff: You know what, when I gave them the tents, I did it with a little smile, because I could see that they were out of their element.
But if they needed some help, I definitely would have helped them out.
They're gonna like it.
And we're camping.
What's not to like?
Joe: I don't see how this is gonna turn into a tent.
Jerica.
This doesn't look like a tent.
Jerica: Yeah, like, you made a mess of it.
I don't know what I'm supposed to do.
Jerica: Don't go that far with it.

This is exhausting.
Jeff: You know what, I'm gonna love that, so I think they're gonna love that too.

I'm just gonna sleep in the car.
Austen: When we got back from the cemetery, I actually had the opportunity to spend some quality time with Nicki's son, Jarrod, because he's apparently interested in something I'm really passionate about.
Karate!

I'm currently a blue belt and I train at least once a week at a dojo in South Carolina.
Never lose eye contact.
Yeah.
Always keep your eye on your enemy.

He picked it up really quickly and we had a really great time together.
And this whole thing just made me realize that family is family, and it was a really special time.

Preshious: We get dinner ready and it's just nice to just sit down at the table together for the first time.
Mike: Thank you for family.

Austen: The people that we've met.
The relationships that we've begun are so magical, it doesn't even seem real.
Mike: It's one of the best experiences I've ever had in my life.
Absolutely.

Joe: So, my cousin Jeff came out and he told me not to worry about the tent, and I've gotta say, Jeff was so kind, so accomodating, and so fun.
He felt like family and really turned this camping thing into one of best evenings of my life.
I don't know who's more excited, me or you.
[Jerica laughs] I don't know.
Preshious: Just reminiscing and talking and hearing everything is great right now.
Man: She liked to sing.
Preshious: She liked to sing.
She really-- She would sing every day.
She would have dancing competitions all the time.
Being that my sister's gone, she has pretty much filled in the hole in a lot of our hearts.
It's real and we can carry this on forever, for the rest of our lives, and give it to our kids and their kids and it's amazing.

Preshious: So, I have a feeling it's gonna be a really great night.
♪ Dan: Day 7 draws to a close as the pending results loom overhead.
Paris: Going into the call, I'm not feeling as confident as usual.
I think it's very possible that we could be getting our first strike tonight.
Mike: We're not only worried about getting a strike, we're worried about another team getting immunity.
Austen: Yeah, there's a lot of worry going on right now.
Jerica: We're worried about what's going to happen.
Joe: We could get our final strike tonight.
Dan: With a strike on the line or immunity up for grabs, all of our teams are anxious to see how they placed in today's race.
Welcome, Teams.
You are now to Day 7 and there are still three teams left in the race.
However, Team Black you have two strikes.
And so, might we be down to only two teams at the end of this day, or will all three teams survive for another day of Relative Race?
Team Black, I think your challenge was a tough one for you guys today.
Was it the math?
Was it the bow and arrow?
Or was it both?
Joe: To be honest with you, I think it was the heat and the allergies and that played into the distractions for us big time.
Dan: And then your relative was in a very interesting location.
Jerica: Yeah, so, our relative is actually from Milford, Connecticut, and they love to camp, so they met us at a campground.
[laughs] Paris: Team Black sleeping in a camping ground?
Good luck tomorrow, guys.
[laughs] Dan: Team Green, the frustration really hit you guys when you hit traffic.
Preshious: It did.
Yeah.
We, uh, we had a slight communication issue, so it kinda got tough for us today.
It got tough.
Dan: Michael and Austen, you have finished in first place two days in a row, and you seem in some ways the team to beat all of a sudden.
How do you think that you did today?
I don't have a problem with math behind my desk.
In the woods with bugs and my daughter... Austen: So many bugs in so many places.
--saying, "Daddy!"
Austen: It was gross.
Mike: Yeah.
Austen: It was really gross.
It was kinda stressful.
Dan: But, for you, Michael and Austen, when you got to your relative, who did you discover today?
Well, Dan, today I met my niece, my older sister's daughter, and her name is Nicki and she is amazing.
And when I met her, I met my little nephew.
Mike: His name's Jarrod-- Both: But we call him Juju.
Mike: And then we went to go see where my father's lying at the cemetery.
Dan: Really?
You got to go and you saw where your father is at?
Mike: That's right.
We went to the cemetery and saw my father's grave.
This has been an incredible, incredible, incredible day.
That's what it's all about, Dan.
We are so happy for you guys, and that kind of joy, I think, is what Preshious also felt today.
Yeah, I met so many family members today that I would need, like, a spinner on the laptop.
Like, I need a full 360, because I met so many people: my grandfather on my mom's side, it was just so many people.
You met your grandfather today?
Preshious: Yes!
Yep, yep.
I met my grandfather.
It's been an amazing day today, and this is what it's all about.
I just see all of these incredible discoveries that you've had from no family to, now, I've got so many family members I gotta try to keep track of their names.
It is so exciting, I almost wish we could just end it here, but we can't.
It's time to find out who has earned a strike, perhaps their third.

I will remind the first place team, whoever finishes in first place, you have a decision to make: Do you take immunity for tomorrow, or do you choose a Day 10 benefit, which could help you win $50,000?

So that means that Team Red or Team Green will be receiving a strike tomorrow.
Mike: When Team Black won, I-- It definitely crossed my mind that there was potential for a second strike.
Dan: Team Red, you have one strike.
Team Green, you have no strikes.
Finishing 47 minutes over their allotted time, 5 minutes behind Team Black...
Team Red.
Both: Oh!
Dan: Team Green, Paris and Preshious, you have received your first strike on the show.
You finished 53 minutes over your allotted time.
I'm a little disappointed with myself and how I handled the situation in the car.
Now that I look back on it, I just feel like I kinda just shut down and just quit.
That's not how we've been winning, you know.
We don't win that way, so that's just something I have to keep in mind moving forward.
Dan: Is this a surprise for you?
Because you guys have been the strong leaders throughout, really, all seven days.
You have been without a strike every day.
Will your strategy change tomorrow?
Paris: We gotta stick together a little bit more, because today we fell apart in the car.
So, our communication has to get better, definitely.
We started out strong.
Mm-hmm.
And we will finish strong.
Yeah.
Dan: Tomorrow is another day, Teams.
Tomorrow, who knows who will excel and who might struggle in the challenge.
Who knows what weather, or traffic jams, or construction.
You never know what lies in the path of Relative Race.
What we do know is all three teams have survived for another day.
Recharge your batteries, refocus, and get determined, because you are so close to the finish line.

Preshious: First strike, but on Day 7.
And we all emotional and stuff.

That's the one prize you wanna achieve out of the whole race.
But the play continues in classic Relative Race fashion.
Dan: The results are in, and to the shock of Jerica and Joe, Team Black came in first place, winning immunity for Day 8.
Consequently, Team Green has earned their first strike, and will have to keep on battling if they plan on making it to Day 10.
Preshious: Oh, bright light.
Okay, so... We just found out that we got first place.
First.
We needed that so bad today.
Didn't get the results we wanted today, but tomorrow's a new day and we will definitely pick it up.
Austen: And while we did not win the challenge today and win immunity guaranteeing us a pass to Day 10, we are very much enjoying our time with our family.
We're also here camping, but we know this: We are gonna sleep good tonight.
And I finally got some questions answered, so stay tuned.
