You have now picked up your second strike on Relative Race.
Both Scott and Jaime met younger brothers.
Scott: I have absolute unconditional love for my brother.
Dan: Shawn connected with his father, Steve Sunter.
Shawn: What I have experienced on this trip is that I'm not in this alone and that I'm wanted.
Dan: And Jamie reunited with his father, Billy Jack.
Jamie: For the first time in my life, seein' him and actually talkin' to him outside of a hospital room.
I'm speechless.
For the first time.
Dan: DNA tells us who we are and where we came from.
Following their own DNA, four teams are racing... Hannah: Oh my gosh!
Dan: ...to win $50,000... Alex: Fingers crossed.
Dan: ...and to find their family.

I have been able to find out about my family.
Mark: You got two brothers, that, you're gonna love 'em.
Jamie: I have brothers, I have my dad, I have another mom.
Life has changed.
- My grandma.
Leticia: I can't take it anymore.
Jaime: It's been an incredible journey.
Look at you with this outfit, turn around!

[laughs] Aw.
Alex: [sobs softly] Knowing that there are people out there that were looking for me is life-changing.
Oh, wow.

Curtis: There's nothing like that.
Scott: It's been amazing to meet all of the, my new family.
- I'm your big sister.
- Hi.
And to learn so much about everybody.
Steve: I'm 5'3 1/2", so... - Me too.
[laughs] Steve: So we're the same height.
That's, that's good.
- This whole thing has just been such a blessing.
It's, it's just, it's miraculous.
♪ Dan: It's Day 9, and all four teams have two strikes going into the final day of racing and discovering family.
The stakes couldn't be higher.
Shawn: We've come too far to go home now.
- We wanna make sure that everybody knows we're here to win this thang.
Dan: Whoever finishes in last place today will head back home with newfound family but will not have a chance to compete for the grand prize of $50,000.
- We've gotta bring it hard, and, we gotta go all the way.
- Wish them all the best, but also, maybe a little bit of traffic, some weather, you know?
Alex: Yep.
Dan: In Daleville, Indiana, Jamie and Jansen are spending time with Jamie's father, Billy Jack.
Jamie: My dad wanted to show us somethin', so he asked us to come outside.
Billy Jack: I rode that bike a million miles.
Cindy: Yep.
Jamie: Maybe.
Billy Jack: Yeah, that speedometer ain't right, 'cause it don't work.
Jamie: [laughs] I like it.
Billy Jack: It's a '91 Ultra Classic.
Jamie: This is a nice bike.
Even after 30 years, it's still in immaculate condition.
Billy Jack: I was hoping, maybe, that we could, uh, work on this together.
Jansen: Oh yeah, I'd be down with that.
Cindy: [laughs] - My dad wants us to help him get the bike back up and on the road again.
I think that's pretty awesome.
Jansen: That's a gorgeous bike.
Jamie: Absolutely.
Billy Jack: Well... boys, I'm gonna gift this to ya.
You and your dad.
Jamie: We appreciate it.
- I love you.
Jamie: Love ya, too.
Jansen: Thank you, it's a beautiful bike.
I mean, I'm speechless, though, really.
Jamie: That's the first time on this whole trip you've been speechless.
I'm just, I'm in shock.
That's amazing.
Jamie: If you're a Foshee, you gotta ride a bike.
Jamie: [laughs] That's exactly right.
- I would never have expected to be given somethin' like that.
- He didn't have to do that.
Billy Jack: This is to make sure you come back.
Jamie: [laughs] Jansen: Oh, we comin' back.
Jamie: We'll be back.

Billy Jack: Well, I want y'all to have it.
Jansen: I don't think I've teared up much on this whole trip, but this makes me wanna tear up.
Jamie: [laughs] What he did this mornin' is... above and beyond.
I can get used to this again.
Billy Jack: Well, enjoy.
Jamie: Oh, we... Cindy: Yep.
Jansen: Oh, we will.
Jamie: Definitely will.
He's welcomed us in, and he's let us know how hey, I wanna be a part of your lives.
Dan: In St. Louis, Missouri, Shawn's biological father, Steve, has a gift for him.
Steve: Hello, Shawn.
How ya doin'?
Shawn: Hey, hey.
Steve: There is somethin' I wanted to give you that's a token of my appreciation.
Shawn: Oh, really?
Steve: To meet you.
Shawn: [laughs] A jersey?
[laughs] I've never had a jersey before.
Steve: That's always been my favorite team.
Shawn: Yeah?

Shawn: [laughs] The Dolphins.
It's my new favorite team.
- [laughs] - Getting this jersey just means so much to me, and I cannot wait to spend more time with him.

- Thanks for having us out.
This has just been... Getting to know you and just learning more about what all we share as far as interests and so many things that, uh, are similar between us, it's just, wow.
Wow.
Sam wanted to share some of the things that he enjoys around cosplay, and I very much enjoy that, too, and-- - I do cosplay for Tom Clancy's the Division 1 and Division 2 video games.
This is, uh, some ear pro that I have that I use quite regularly.
These were some that I use quite a lot, and it just really helps with the aesthetic.
- Getting to meet Sam, learning about all of his interests and hobbies, has just been amazing, and, we're gonna spend a lot of time just running around to some of the conventions and just having a good time.
♪ Dan: In Kings Point, New York, Jaime and Alex are saying goodbye to Jaime's younger brother, Anthony.
Jaime: You know what's the hardest part, man, is, like, I get to see my family for, that I've never, you know, you, I've never met before.
Anthony: Mmm.
Jaime: But leaving this door today is one of the toughest things that I'll do, and I know I'll see you in, like, four days, five days, you know what I'm sayin'?
Like, once I'm off Relative Race, and once it's over, it's over, and we get to start our life as a family.
W-we get to be like brothers for real, you know what I'm sayin'?
- Make up for lost time.
Jaime: It's been a really long journey, and I'm excited to get home and spend some time with family, but, we have a race to win, and we're not planning on slowing down now.
[intense music and clock ticking] - I thought you might like that.
Jamie: [laughingly] Yeah, I mean, I'd, I'd say so.
[phone pings] Jansen: Ope, I got a text.
Jamie: Oh boy.
Cindy: Uh oh, here we go.
Jansen: Oh, here goes Dan.
Jamie: Know what this means.
Jaime: "Good morning, teams, "and welcome to Day 9 of Relative Race.
Team Red will be traveling to Great Neck, New York."
- "Team Blue will be traveling to Sedalia, Missouri."
- Yeah.
Jansen: "Team Black will be traveling to Logansport, Indiana."
- "And Team Green will be traveling to St. Clair, Missouri."
Scott: St. Clair, Missouri, okay.
Curtis: "Today's photo subject is land and sky."
- "The first-place prize you are competing for "is annual national park passes "for you and the relatives you meet today.
Your time starts now."
I gotta go, G. Alex: All right, do or die.
Anthony: All right.
Scott: We gotta go.
Samuel: Let's go.

Scott: Oh, oh, oh!
Curtis: It was great meeting you, Steve.
Shawn: Dad, I, I have to run.

♪ Dan: Today's photo challenge is land and sky.
The teams will have up to 30 minutes off the clock to take their photo.
Hannah: Hey, Dad?
Scott: Yeah?
Hannah: Actually, our subject is land and sky.
Scott: Yeah.
Hannah: Do you wanna just stay here and do our photo?
Scott: I mean, we don't get more land and sky than here.
Hannah: Okay, and then Sam, you can come with us, even.
Samuel: Let's do it.
Hannah: Okay, let's do that.
Scott: C'mon, let's go.
To the photo challenge!
Hannah: We took a few photos around the house, and it all started to kinda look the same, so we found some sunflowers in, like, a pail by this, like, old truck, and we put the bucket of flowers next to the water spigot so you could see the, like, barbed wire fence behind it, and you can see the sky and the land.
I like it.
I like the sunflower.
I think it kinda breaks up all the green and blue you see.
Samuel: Yeah.
Hannah: I think it just made for a really pretty photo.
That one's pretty.
Samuel: That one looks good.
Hannah: It's the one we want?
Samuel: Yes, that's it.
Hannah: All right, it is sent.
Samuel: Perfect.
♪ Alex: Do it, go, figure it out!
Move it or lose it!
Jaime: Where are you going?
Alex: What are you doin'?
Dan: Stuck in New York traffic, Team Red, Jaime and Alex, are leaving Kings Point, New York, and heading to Great Neck, New York.
They have an allotted time of 1 hour and 9 minutes to arrive, finish their challenge, and find their family.
Shawn: We are looking to get to, looks like I-64 'till we get to I-70.
Curtis: I-64 what?
Shawn: Uh, west.
Curtis: Thanks.
Dan: Quick to navigate to the highway, Team Blue, Shawn and Curtis, are leaving St. Louis, Missouri, and navigating to Sedalia, Missouri.
They have an allotted time today of 2 hours and 58 minutes.
Jansen: Is this 24?
Jamie: I don't know!
Jansen: Downtown-- Jamie: There's no sign!
This is ridiculous!
See what the sign up here says and-- - You're gonna have to calm down.
Dan: Feeling the pressure of Day 9, Team Black, Jamie and Jansen, are leaving Daleville, Indiana, and making their way to Logansport, Indiana.
They have an allotted time of 1 hour and 29 minutes.
Jamie: There's no SIGNS!
Go, just go.
You've gotta drive the speed limit-- - I DON'T KNOW WHERE I'M GOING!
- You've gotta find somewhere where I can talk to somebody that knows what-- Go to that gas station.
- Good grief, we're gonna lose today.
- Yeah, we've lost.
Scott: We are, we're goin' the right way, goin' the right way.
Hannah: Good, good, good, good.
See, good.
Scott: Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
Hannah: Good, good, confidence, confidence.
Do not second guess yourself.
Confidence.
Dan: Embracing the pressure and feeling confident, Team Green, Scott and Hannah, are leaving Desloge, Missouri, and heading to St. Clair, Missouri.

Scott: Like, agh.
Hannah: No second guessing.
We are doing fantastic.

Jansen: Why can't you just roll the window down?
Jamie: Can you tell me how to get to Logansport?

And that'll take us right to it?
Man 1: Yeah.
Jamie: A'ight.
We're on the right spot.
Jansen: So we were goin' the right way the whole time.
Jamie: Yep.
You gotta go right down that road.
Jansen: Jeez.
From one thing I've noticed with my dad and pressure?
They don't go so well.
♪ Well, we're driving' on the road, and we see a bunch of American flags just flyin' everywhere, and we realize that it's a cemetery with, uh, some really pretty land around it, and we decide to pull over and see if we can catch some good shots.
Jamie: All right, let's get it where we get a bunch of these flags in there.
Like, keep the house out of the background.
Jansen: I don't know, I feel like we're just wastin' time.
Jamie: Let's go over here and look.
We noticed this row of flags at the end of the cemetery, and we thought, everybody else has won a challenge... - Off of a picture of a memorial.
- ...off of a memorial!
It's our turn.
It's land and sky.
Jansen: I believe it fits the topic great.
Jamie: This is it?
Jansen: You wanna go with it?
Jamie: I think so.
Jansen: All right, we'll go with it.
Jamie: All right, you ready?
Jansen: Yep.
Jamie: Send.
Jansen: Sent.
[camera shutter snaps] ♪ Alex: Great Neck, here we are.
[phone pings] Jamie: Oh!
Message from Dan.
Jaime: "Welcome to Great Neck.
Your challenge is located at Village Green Park at 5 Beach Road."
Shawn: "Your challenge is located at Hubner Park."
Jamie: "...Houston Park at 1721 Smith Street."
Hannah: We're goin' to St. Clair City Hall.
Jamie: Houston Park.
There's a sign that says Houston Park.
Man, this must be a big park.
Jansen: Yeah, it looks like a forest.
Jamie: Yeah.
Shawn: No, there it is, right there.
Curtis: Yep, got it.
Shawn: Aw, man.
- Whew.
Jaime: Go, go, go.
- Let's go.
♪ Scott: What we got, what we got?
Jansen: Welcome to Cube It Up.
Dan: Day 9's challenge is Cube It Up.
Contestants must stack four oversized cubes in a way so that all sides of the cubes do not have a repeating color.
Once the cubes are in correct order, this challenge is done.
[tweet] ♪ Jamie: I got it.
Hannah: I can't see above the cube.
It was hard to get my arms wrapped around it, so I couldn't carry it very well.
Scott: Yep, yep, yep.
Hannah: I'll just go get another one.
Shawn: This one... Curtis: It looks... simple.
Jamie: Go.
Jansen: All right, oh, this is blue.
Jamie: Turn it!
Jansen: It looks like a Rubik's cube, so we're gonna assemble it like a Rubik's cube.
- Only problem is, they don't want it to match.
They want it to not match.
Alex: All right.
Curtis: Okay, we're in.
Shawn: 'Kay, we got, what, blue, red, green, and black?
Curtis: Yep, yep.
Shawn: The boxes weren't that heavy, but they were very awkward.
♪ - [grunts] Scott: As Hannah was bringing the other cubes, I'd orient that cube to where all four colors were showing on each of the four sides.
I feel very confident about this challenge.
Hannah: Come...
Okay, blue, red, green, you're good.
Curtis: Okay.
Shawn: Nope.
Curtis: Nope.
Shawn: Hmm.
I think we first, uh, started to realize this was gonna be harder than we thought right about the, the third block that we stacked.
Curtis: Okay, this is a little bit more... Shawn: Yep.
Curtis: What it-- Yep, that's not workin'.
Jamie: What color is this?
Jansen: That's green.
Jamie: I can't see... Is there two reds on the top?
Jansen: You have eyes, Dad.
Jamie: All right.
Get that off.
Alex: Two greens.
Three greens!
Ugh, a lotta greens.
The hardest part of this challenge was when we'd get a cube set up and only to find out that there was a repeating color on one side.
Jaime: Pull that one, flip it.
Let's, let's-- Alex: Let's pull this one down.
Scott: As the tower's getting taller, it does get to be more difficult to place the last cube up on top.
♪ Hannah: You almost dropped the box on my head.
Alex: Let's flip these two cubes here.
Pull that one down.
Shawn: And that sides good.
Curtis: We good?!
Shawn: No.
Curtis: Oh.
Jamie: Now do it again.
Jansen: No, I got black over here when you do that!
Jamie: What?
Jansen: Yeah!
Alex: All right.
Put that one there.
Hannah: Flip it back to the black.
Uh... No, stop, stop, stop!
Turn back this way!
This way!
When we get the last cube on top, me and Dad both look around to make sure that all the colors are where they're supposed to be.
Scott: I got blue on this side.
- Black here.
We're good, we're done!
Scott: We're done!
[ding, ding, ding] Hannah: And they were at the very first try.
Scott: Red, blue, green, black.
Hannah: Yeah, we're done.
Scott: Yeah, we got it!
Hannah: We're good!
Scott: Let's go!
Hannah: Okay!
We did a really good job, and we did it in great time, I think.

Curtis: What about now?
Shawn: Uh, I got a blue up there, blue down there, two blacks touching, two reds touching.
We decided to unstack 'em, uh, and I, I know I felt frustrated in the moment.
Curtis: Very frustrated.
Jamie: I would have a blue on this side-- Jansen: I hate this challenge.
Jamie: Hey, look, blue on this side.
Jansen: I can't see all the sides!
It's like playin' Rubik's cube, but you don't know where all the colors are.
Jamie: I have blue here.
Are you good?
Jansen: I've got blue here!
Dad, it was fine the first time!
Jamie: Oh my gosh.
Alex: That's black.
Curtis: There's something we're not thinkin' about.
Jamie: We get the cubes down on the ground, we have 'em spread out, we get 'em ready to go before we put 'em back on top of each other.
Jamie: This is it!
Get it up there!
Jaime: One, two, three, four.
[ding, ding, ding] Alex: All right, we're done, we're done!
Let's go get a card, come on!
Jamie: Let's get it up there, get it up there!
[ding, ding, ding] Done, done!
Shawn: It was on the last block.
Imagine what it would look like if we had flipped it 90 degrees, lifted it up, and that was our last block.

[ding, ding, ding] Curtis: Aw, yeah, great.
I'm so... Let's go.
Jaime: Lafayette Avenue, Brooklyn, New York.
We're goin' home, baby, let's go.
Alex: Let's go.
- So after we complete the challenge, we get our relative's address, and we are heading back to Brooklyn.
Jansen: "Your relative lives at 301..." Both: "...West Logan Street, Markle, Indiana."
Jamie: Let's go!
- "Your relative lives at 111 West Cooper Street, Sedalia, Missouri."
Shawn: All right.
Curtis: All right, let's go.
Hannah: I don't even know where to begin.
- I think we go this way for now because... Hannah: We don't have a choice.
[chuckles] Eh, what do you mean we'll just ride it?
We, like, this is the only way to go.
Jamie: I think we can make up any time that we lost just to stop.
We did, we didn't go out of all, off the route this mornin'.
- I know exactly where I'm goin' though.
Jamie: That's what I'm sayin'.
This is the deciding factor, right here.
Curtis: There's a lotta scenery around here, it's a beautiful park, so, I think we're gonna take advantage of this for our photo challenge.
I don't know if...
I don't like that pole in the way.
Alex: On the way to Brooklyn, we stopped to do our photo for the photo contest.
Jaime: Yeah, that, that's it, right there.
Alex: Jaime here found a hollowed out log, and it turned out to be a pretty righteous way to take a photo.
Look at that!
Jaime: I like that.
That's beautiful, with a little sunburst.
Shawn: We decided we wanted to take a lotta different pictures and really try to use all the things that we've learned from the other photo challenges.
Curtis: Okay, let's see what we got.
- Somethin' like that?
- Yeah.
Let's say that one.
Shawn: Okay.
It's always comes out to the photos.
Curtis: Yeah.
Jaime: That's a beautiful picture.
Alex: Yeah, I think so.
Jaime: Send it to Dan.
Alex: It's off.
♪ Scott: In someone's driveway.
Yep, this is not the right location, the right direction.
Somehow, we end up on this private driveway, and I really hope this doesn't cost us.
Jaime: You ready?
So we're goin' west on the Belt Parkway.
Alex: Oh it's, oh, no!
- Um, hold on.
Alex: All of a sudden, it's just a sea of red brake lights, so we had to make a decision right then and there, are we gonna stay on or get off?
Jaime: Get off at 6.
- You sure?
Jaime: Agh, no, get off.
Get off, get off, get off.
Go, go, go, go.
Go, go, go.
Alex: We just decided to take surface streets.
Curtis: Okay, let's see if one of these people knows.
Shawn: We're lost, do you know where Westwood Avenue is?
Shawn: All right, thank you.
Hannah: Mary's Lane.
- Yep.
- Left or right?
- I think we go right.
Hannah: Okay.
Scott: I really do.
I just, for whatever reason, I'm just, I'm thinkin' it's a right.
Hannah: That's, that's what you're thinkin'.
Alex: Lafayette, right here.
- Perfect, all right, uh... - Which way?
Jaime: Make a left, there's only one way.
Alex: It's, oh, but it's, no, I only can go, I can only go right.
Jaime: Only go one way, all right.
So we found the street, but we're on a one-waroad, and we're goin' the wrong way.
Jamie: I remember seein' Logan Street.
- I do, too, but it was to the right of the gas station, not the left.
Jamie: No, it wasn't, it was to the left.
It was on this road.
Stay on this road, do not turn.
♪ Jaime: But that was Lafayette there!
Alex: Ugh!
Jaime: You had to just make the right.
- But dude, I mean, you're not payin' attention.
Jaime: But I thought you knew to make the next right, brah, come on.
- It said Lewis!
- Yeah, but that's okay, 'cause we're gonna hit Lafayette.
Lewis hits Lafayette.
Alex: It's not as simple a matter as just missing a turn because everything is one-way this way, and it's all the wrong one-way.
Scott: Excuse me, have you heard of an Oak Knoll Drive?
Nope?

Scott: No one knows where this road is, and I'm really startin' to feel the pressure.
Jaime: Please make a right on green and listen to me.
- [sighs] Dude, all right.

Jaime: Then the next one is Lafayette then.
- Which, what are we doing?
- We're just going around the block.
I don't know how we missed that turn.

Jamie: I'm Jamie Cowart.

- I'm your niece and your first cousin.
Jamie: [laughs] [laughs] Jamie: And I know he's happy 'cause this is what he's been lookin' for is a first cousin.
Ashlee: Yep!
You got two more, but... [laughs] Jamie: Oh, I'm so glad.
I'm glad we finally get to meet you.
Ashlee: Gosh.
- So I take it you're Josh's daughter.. Ashlee: I'm Josh's.
Yep, I'm Josh's oldest.
Jansen: Okay.
- And he's got two boys, but, yeah.
So you, you technically have two more.
Jamie: I'm, I'm, I'm glad.
I'm eager to get to know more about you.
This is, um, first and only niece that I have on this side of the family, which is amazing, so we're gonna love her just like everybody else.
- You guys couldn't have, couldn't have been brought into a better family in my opinion, even though I know it's my family, but they are just truly, great people.
- That's what we like to hear.
Ashlee: Yeah, so... Jamie: And that, and that's-- Ashlee: I'm excited to-- Jamie: And that's what we're kinda feelin' from everybody because it's, it's like, it's like we're home.
Ashlee: Yup.
Jamie: And, like, we have just-- Ashlee: Good, that's, that's Foshee right there.
We love bringin' people in and makin' 'em feel home.
Jamie: Yes, exactly.
Ashlee: It's even better when-- [chuckles] We, you know, you already feel it.
We want them to be welcomed just like the rest of us.
We're all really tight and, um, close-knit and feel like we want them to feel that way as well.
It's just really special for us.

Scott: Hugging her was just another way to communicate my gratitude.
My unconditional love for her and her courage.
- Since the day that that happened.

♪ Pat: I've lived in a lotta turmoil over the last 46 years knowing that he was out there, somewhere.
The constant thoughts, how is he doing?
Those questions never had answers.
I got my answers today.
And knowing that he's been happy, was well taken care of... has completed my heart and has made my heart full.

♪ Dan: In Brooklyn, New York, Jaime is reconnecting with his cousin, Julie.
Julie: I have a lotta memories, like...
I, I always say, like, I feel like I'm the gatekeeper 'cause I'm, like, I'm the oldest.

Julie: And I remember a lot of things.
Jaime: I sat down with my cousin, Julie, today, and, um... we done mem-- like, a trip down memory lane.
- I remember going to visit you guys a lot in the Bronx.
Like, for birthdays and stuff like that.
Do you remember us hangin' out in the park?
- I remember Roberto Clemente Park, I remember Crotona.
Julie was the one who was making sure that we were safe and got home safely, and I love her for that.
I, I'll always love her for that, and I always have.
- I'm glad you have that memory, 'cause I have it, too.
Jaime: I have very good, striking memories of us.
Like, that's why, um, I remember you took care of us.

Jaime: I remember you made sure that we were, like, not hurt and, and were well-fed and all the things that, you know, an older sibling does for her younger siblings, so...
I felt like you were my older sister more than you were my cousin.
Julie: Yeah, it did feel that, it did feel that way.
- When I was having my darkest times in the darkest moments throughout my life, uh, no matter where I was, the thought of those memories, you know, they got me through.
- So, I have a picture of you when you were a baby.
Alex: Do I get to see a baby photo of Jaime?
Julie: Yeah, a baby photo.

- The youngest picture I've seen of myself is me at, like, five.
- So, this is you.

Stephanie: For him to be able to meet his mother was immensely overwhelming, and to be able to meet his siblings that he's been waiting years to get to know, and for them to be so welcoming and open arms has been, has been absolutely amazing.

Jamie: We realize we're gettin' close to a direction that we're kinda familiar with, and we realize, as we get closer, that it's my brother, Josh's house.

Jamie: And as we pull up, we see this whole group of people outside.

I mean, everybody, right there together.
I got to have a family reunion with family that I've only met in the last few days, and they were all sittin' here, ready and waiting and willing to welcome us in, and I'm just, I'm just overjoyed.
Kent: We got somethin' for you.
Jamie: Oh, really?
Kent: We'd like to, uh, give you this on behalf of the family.

♪ Dan: In Sedalia, Missouri, Curtis is getting answers to questions that he has had his entire life.
Curtis: I never thought that this day would happen.
I can't wait to learn more about you.
I've had questions, and I've been trying to piece together this whole story.
- Me and your mother was high school sweethearts.
Curtis: Mm-hm.
- When she told me she was pregnant with you, with me, plans to get married, whole nine yards, you know?
So, uh, I went off to Everson, Il-- Everson, Illinois to live my, live with my brethren, to find a job.
And God, you know, sees the mover burden.
Curtis: He actually gave me some information, and enlightened me on some things that happened during that time.
- The mother and grandmother, they didn't, didn't care for me.
You know, for whatever reason, you know.
I think that was the beg-- that was the root to all the troubles, you know.
- Good or bad, um, I appreciate honesty in any form that it comes, and, you know, the information that he provided me, I-I appreciated that, and more than that, I respected it.
I'm happy.
Um, I'm more than happy that you, um, opened yourself up to providin' me some answers, meeting me, and, um, just being a part of this.
It's a bad thing not knowin' where you come from.
You know, I had my adopted family, and I had a good life.
- Yeah.
- I have you, and we're going to build on this.
- [indistinct] Both: [laugh] Curtis: We're gonna build on this, for sure.
Hey, man, I'm happy to meet you.
I'm happy to know who my father is.
Cye: I know, boy.
Curtis: Man, it's... My biggest hope and wish goin' forward with my dad is that, um, I learn more about him.
That, um, we grow our relationship.
It's 54 years later, but that doesn't matter because we're going to definitely do everything we can to try to make up for that.
♪ Dan: In St. Clair, Missouri, Scott and Hannah get the chance to connect with Scott's biological mother, Pat, also known as Ladybug.
Pat: I was 16 when this happened, so, um, I was a minor.
- Yeah.
Pat: Didn't have a voice.
I, I didn't have a say so on anything.
My mother had actually placed me, um, in a home for unwed mothers, and, um, stayed there until it was time, and then, after I had you, then went back to the home for, like, a two-week recoup period, and then I got to go home, but I had to stay there.
Yeah.
It was the times.
Scott: I know.
Pat: You know what I mean?
Scott: I'm sorry that you had to endure that.
I'm, I'm really sorry.

- It's not your fault, no, thank you.
- Thank you for the courage... - Well... Scott: ...you had, thank you for the courage that you had to, to do what you did.
[sighs] You didn't have to.
There was a lot of other options.
- That was my mom, you know?
And, um, my mom had to do what she felt was the right thing to do during those times.

Pat: You know?
- Talking to her about some of the things that, unfortunately, she had to endure, and what she was willing to go through to give me the foundation that I have in my life and the family that I was, that I have been afforded.
It's just... it's inspiring.
My whole reason for this journey is I wanted to, I wanted to meet you, I wanted to hug you.
I wanted to thank you for the, the courage that you had, and, and the life that you have provided me, and the opportunities that you afforded me by allowing my mom and dad to adopt me.
It was just, I'm just so grateful.
- I'm... beyond words.
It just, um... my heart feels, um, happy.
Scott: Yeah.

My little puzzle piece was... wanderin' around out there, and, my puzzle piece found me.
Scott: That's right.
It is great to have this weight off of my shoulders.

I am glad that I'm able to pull this similar weight off of Ladybug's shoulders because I know she's been carrying it around, too.
- There was always a constant thought, you know, of what is he doing, is he happy?
You know, that, that was always a constant for me.

And, um... never, ever, ever think that dreams don't come true.

- Forty-six years she's looked for me and has prayed for me and kept me in her thoughts, all of this time.
And we got a chance to talk and connect and to share the weight that both of us was carrying and remove that today off of both of us.
- It's liberating.
It's very liberating to, all those feelings and emotions that you carry with yourself for so many years, and it's good, good.

Hannah: We came on here, and we did exactly what we wanted to do, which was meet our relatives.

Scott: At the end of the day, this is what I was here for.

♪ Jansen: It all led up to this point, gettin' to see Billy Jack, and him makin' it out of the hospital and bein' at the house when we got there.
Uh, an amazing experience.
Jamie: I really can't explain what, what this all has meant to me.
I'm so thankful that my dad gave me the opportunity and accepted the, the invitation to be on Relative Race.
I truly believe that everything was set up.
God had a plan, and, His plan was carried out perfectly.
♪ ♪ [inhales sharply] [sighs] There's a part of me that was relieved that he was no longer in the pain that he was in, but... [sniffs] [sighs] The other part of me was... [sniffs] I just lost my dad that I'd only just met, and, uh, it was just, like... like he just ripped my heart out.
Billy Jack: Jamie.
[kiss] Jamie: [sniffs] [sniffles] [sobs softly] ♪ Jansen: Well, I just lost my grandfather that I'd just met.
There was so much more to talk about with 'im that I didn't get to.
Jamie: God set this up for us.
He allowed him to spend a little extra time here on this earth so that we'd be able to spend time with him.
Jansen: Makes you not wanna lose any time that you can with your own family.
I-I don't want nothin' to ever happen between me and my dad to where we don't wanna talk to each other, 'cause all that time is valuable.
I know that Billy Jack is sittin' up in Heaven, and, every time I hop on that motorcycle, he's gonna be with me.
Jamie: Well, he may not get to get up on that ride, here, but he's, he's gonna be with us in spirit.
Luckily, we had a chance to make it to my dad's funeral.
It was a celebration of my dad's life.
They shot the guns to salute him, and, you know, he was a veteran.
It was a great culmination of his life that we all was able to share together and show p-- show everybody how we felt about him.
