Everarbor Utilizes Local To Continue Services

The crew from Everarbor utilized some downtime to plant new trees around the community.
Everarbor missed the coffee and beer waste from Cleveland businesses over the summer of 2020. It’s part of the company’s recipe for its landscaping and fertilizing services. But in spite of the challenges from the coronavirus, the team was able to stay busy.

Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- It's such a shame to see a lotta the businesses close or have to go on pause and people are struggling.
However, we'll rebound and once we do, hopefully, we still stick to saying "Hi" to the neighbors and going out for a walk and taking a step back and maybe appreciating life in a different way.
(upbeat music) I'm Derek Skapes.
I'm the owner of The Everarbor Company.
We're an outdoor lifestyle company.
There's three facets to the business.
It's the outdoor apparel.
We try to make it or create it here in Cleveland.
The Everbrew which is an organic fertilizer.
It's sourced all in Cleveland.
And then the third is our sustainable construction services, landscape services, and then Arboriculture, our tree service.
After this pandemic we shut down our store, however, the online sales are up, especially with the neck frills that we sell that can cover the faces of people.
But the services, because we're outside and not necessarily working too close to one another, a lot of that stuff has kinda not changed.
The Everbrew has gone to pick up or delivery, so that's slightly different.
It hasn't been business as usual, I'm not trying to say that, but we've still been able to carry out different projects.
The other thing that we've taken on a little bit more of is the sustainable construction and we've actually found that that's not only fun and rewarding, but something that we absolutely should keep within our wheelhouse.
It's very easy to focus on some of the negatives and some of the downsides, however, you see more people out walking, you see neighbors on their porches.
I think that it's put a lot of things in perspective for people and I think that that's good.
Small businesses and people support go so far.
An example for us, was our Everbrew is dependent on ingredients that we get from local coffee shops and local restaurants and local breweries.
We are now on back order which is a very good problem to have.
(laughs) However, we can't fill those orders fast enough unless people are consuming local beverages.
The more growlers you grab from the local breweries and the coffee shops that you support.
Not only are you supporting local community, but a lot of things that people don't necessarily think of or realize.
'Cause they're probably getting some of their ingredients locally as well.
As so it's just a continuing chain, so to speak.
It certainly goes a long way.
(gentle music)
