But it was always my dad's dream to own Renfro Valley.

And sure enough, later in his life he and two partners, Ralph Gabbard and Warren Rosenthal bought the complex and they actually built the new venue, what they call the new barn, which is where all the shows happen, all the big shows, you know, happen now.

But I was really happy for him.

He didn't get to enjoy it as long as he and I would have hoped.

But he got it done.

And that means a whole lot to me.

That's my mother.

She went by the stage name of Lily Mae Ledford.

Of course, she was Lily Mae Ledford Pennington, and she was the leader of the Coon Creek Girls, but they were really something.

They were a huge, huge influence on me.

I think I'll be able to feel my mom and dad's spirit even more so tonight.

I've always kind of felt it before, you know, we've played here a number of times and sometimes it's a little bit hard to concentrate on what I'm doing by thinking about that.

You know, all the things I did as a kid here, but yeah, you know, if there's such a thing as ghosts or spirits, they'll be here, and I'll feel them.

We were out in Los Angeles, California, recording an album, recording this next song we're gonna play.

When all the recording was done, we left and went on the road, had a long tour, but about almost three years after we recorded our song, we found out a band from San Francisco called Huey Lewis and the News - really good band - they recorded our song, pretty much note for note the way we had recorded ours, but they had a huge, and I mean, a huge pop hit.

They did a great job.

But I think our version is pretty dang cool.

Pretty good.

As good as Huey sang it, I guarantee you, he didn't sing it any better than our own L.T.
