welcome to Ophelia's, I am your host, Stephanie Bracket.
I am with sounds on tonight from PBS 12 and we are so amped to have you here.
And yeah, yeah, let's hear it.
Let's hear it.
Because doing things locally is the only way that any of us really make it.
And Denver is one of the best cities to have like a fan base in because people show up, show out and support and that's how we make it all happen.
And with that, I want to introduce you all to Felix Ighodalo, one of the dopest musicians I've ever had the opportunity to play with.
He is the first act for tonight.
He is one of those dudes who, if he wasn't so humble, he would be incorrect.
Intimidating.
Like he plays like, I don't know, something In 9 to 10 different instruments self-taught could hang with the heaviest of jazz.
Cats can scratch on turntables, any of those things.
But tonight he is sound painting.
He is giving you all his acoustic singer songwriter set.
And I don't think that.
I think I think that y'all are in for a real treat tonight.
So can you all make some noise for one of Denver's greatest sound painters?
Felix, are you telling?
right now.
So when his eyes.
In store and praying inside the catacombs.
I start storming inside.
Go and see the street take.
That's.
It makes me so to Milton.
Yeah, baby, I feel the desert sun.
You don't leave me here for nothing, sir.
I, I, I, i.
For me.
You smell so sweet.
And that's it.
So then you run close.
Then you like it.
Feinstein's obviously soon steps away since it features, say, a snowstorm.

I just won five and I just had some six jump out the fridge, a spiritual kiss.
Filling my neck and that fit.
It is home of the land with the rock.
That's all that you know.
From mistakes in the gap and stretch you stressing them and you were saying are.
Are I. so do do I'm sitting there ready for So all done.

A super supernova of this sky.
Felix, it's great to see you as always.
Good to see you.
I am excited to be introducing our audience as to who I consider to be one of the best musicians in Colorado right now.
I know that you're one of those borderline insufferable people who is brilliant enough to be able to teach yourself.
cheers.
Yes, well, technically, the library and then, of course, all kinds of YouTube university stuff.
So.
Yeah, but I think there's some story about a keyboard being in your house.
Yes.
So talk to me about about that, though, because that was the beginning, right?
Yeah, absolutely.
A good friend, a good group of friends.
We used to go by the truth.
We were a turntable, this scratch, deejay crew and we used to make, like, turntable music, like we were trying to make compositions with the turntable.
And we two of us moved into the same apartment, and then the rest of the crew would come over and somebody left a keyboard and a guitar in my room.
And so I got to, like, fiddle with it, which was really, really fun.
And then, like, really expensive.
It just blew my mind.
I was like, these are the the melodies that I was trying to create our on.
I can I can make them on this keyboard just I didn't have access to any instruments up until that point.
So it's really, really mind boggling and huge.
Yeah, I think you leave something out like there was a guitar in my closet when I was a.
Kid.
And nothing happened.
all right.
Like you were saying, there was a guitar and a keyboard, and you started teaching yourself how to play.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
And then that was the beginning.
To the point where, like, now you can sit in with jazz groups like you sat in with us, like, I've never seen you.
I've never seen you meet a beat that you could ride in some way all that.
You enjoy yourself through this retrograde.
Bring me all the joy you feel and I'll do the same.
But since I. I may you So no booze reigns.
It may not be a time to say, but please know.
James, your long, long time.
It feels as though your heart has made some great strides.
And so now the sound of the things that help raise your heart.
And no time for me to play your smile.
The enormity of love was found there.
The sun is shining so don't.
so.
Don't go away now.
So don't.
Go away.
Not to go away now for so don't go away for better.
Da da da da da.
no, no, no room for God Da da da.
What led to your musical awakening?
Was it then?
Like what?
Even before that?
Was it people in your house with your family or like, what was it or.
Good question.
Both of my parents are from Nigeria, so they came here.
They moved to Evanston, Illinois, which is where I was born.
And they had records that they came here with to the United States.
And those records right there, they were just impaired.
It just huge.
And I eventually got them when we moved to Houston.
And I got to listen to them and check out, which is what my parents were listening to.
You get like a different scope of those folks who are taking care of you when you listen to their their music taste.
Yeah.
And so I was picking up on sensibilities, on what was on their records.
They had like Fela, of course they have full to there was some Pink Floyd in there randomly.
There was some sting, there was the police, and there are some more.
So there I want to say there might have been this on our record.
I don't know about that.
No, I don't think they were that album.
You wonder where I got that.
That could have been to figure out.
But yeah, all of the music they had kind of like gave me like insight on what I wanted to tap into, like what my interest musically would end up being interested.
Can you talk to me a little bit about like who you consider to be your peers in this local music scene, who you've played with, who like, who were the folks at The Iron sharpens Iron like you do If you're on the same bill with them, you're like, I got to really bring it like all those things.
What would you say for you?
I'm sure it's a long list, but just like, give me a.
Chance to obviously the flow.
But of course, because I feel like the I got to get your flowers on the floor about some flowers.
You found records.
It's is huge for life to be able to have that room, to be able to tap into music continuously and to be able to see how it's affecting people and to help me walk my path sturdier.
So I got to I got to thank you so, so much for that great opportunity that you obviously of people heard.
Somebody mentioned your Flaco.
So from afar, it was definitely one of those cats.
Who else?
Bugaboo Butterfly and Twain Foster as a song?
Yeah, it's a lot.
It's a lot of folks.
Nick Rocker, Ground Zero.
Yeah.
down.
Just just a lot of folks out here.
I know I'm spacing some, but yeah, Chompers Southfork.
I'll just tell you that was the other way to go.
Hangs in illusion progressive in a good fight on the cover has been one of yeah if any more what I to portray Catherine's murder to your briefcase.
You know you came to find.
And if you want to know Sean towards this ride is to tell you so.
I couldn't the passion.
And I still can't believe the pain of clear and before for know you may receive your raise the Red Cross for too soon.
My chance to.
Please note for the shall we love and Steve's in the free before the essence of the South Pole.
I'm not sure you adventure drawings.
You know.
This is important because it's all the.
Canvas.
You see.
You know it can't be wrong.
This goes.
For 30000.
Mango.
You see three?
So you mean.
And step to the rhythm of the art that they do to you.
Just a little bit to the parts of the cinematography of everything.
It's almost like you don't know.
Don't talk a little picture.
The parts of the ship turns to everybody, gets a message, a step to talk a little bit to the vice chancellor.
They ready to tell Mr.. To on the train?
Not so.
What's yours?
You see.
I thought had everything you know you documentary.
These dreams reunited with raw Ray.
That's all I trust my soul.
I trust this one here.
So puts it all out in the open.
You'll be free.
In only free house One.
man with, like, several projects, but, like, two big ones.
Like, one is like Othello, and that one is Felix.
Fast forward, can you talk to me about the difference between those two projects?
Absolutely.
From Exile DeLay is because I feel like there is one.
I'm a Pisces, and so you have these two fishes going in a different way.
So there's there's a huge part of me that wants to demonstrate all of my music capabilities and not feel like, wanted something didn't get said.
And so.
Felix, fast forward, is more production more scratching?
Because that's what I started off with, more hip hop bass because I have that foundation.
And if Felix ideally is a singer songwriter for natural instruments and not as electronic, and I feel I just have it, I'm basically I'm basically Bangor and Ballad.
Okay, same person.
You know I like anger invalid.
you should do like a love below speaker Bach's album like One Side Spaniel, one side's.
Valid 103,000 came up and you know, to.
Put that on my Kickstarter, I'll be the first person.
So All right, Felix, thank you so much for listening.
It's always great to see you.
I need to see more of your life.
Something I've had to change my life so I could have been, but I.
Board chair.
Great to see you, as always, to Song I want to.
The song I want to sound.
And so everyone's want to The song never want to.
It sounds so to the song.
It's a moment and so you saw the solo concert and so solo was also solo was a relationship.
So everyone was civil relations.
So wanted surprises.
And so I said So.
A song alongside the singer.
So the same thing.
So I wanted to sing that all over.
Once it called Are.
We going to get the concert once in a while to the song, I want to the song.
That everyone said, All right, I'm going to say this all this time.
It's all right.
Everything around using to was similar.
In a similar mode to.
The song.
I Stay relationship.
So I wanted a song, so I was so I was so so.
come on.
And so now we're on the same day in the similarity.
Not everybody wants one.
But that's okay.
There was already more than ten.
I was ready.
To say, Let's.
Just the Sailor Moon.
So yes, you know, this one.
And so I really was like this.
I wanted for so many songs.
So I so said the songs, if you're in love and of them.
You have all the world and so I to start.
So I the songs to the on off so I was so thank you feel is now too beautiful.
