[speaking in Russian] (newscaster) The battle for the capital city of Kyiv appears to be underway.
[speaking in Russian] [speaking in English] ♪ [dramatic and driving musical score] ♪ [faint voices] [helicopter whirring] [male voice on a radio] [wind rustling through brush] [distant sound of a train whistle] [music continues] [music fades] (newscaster) This pro -independence rally in Ukraine was just another example of the mood of seperatism sweeping the nation.
Local officials in the capital Kyiv stormed the Colonist Party headquarters The recent scenes of violence between the government and opposition forces in Ukraine look like a war zone with two armies going head to head.
The visuals reflect a deepening divide that's pulling Ukraine in two different directions.
We turn tonight to the tension rising around the world as Russian President Vladimir Putin casts his shadow across the boundry of Europe and Russia.
Tonight his troops are holding firm in a corner of Ukraine known as Crimea.
Vladimir Putin has just addressed the Russian people moments ago announcing what Putin called the start of a military special operation.
The battle for the capital city of Kyiv appears to be underway.
A senior US official says Russian troops in the south are advancing past Kerson and spilitting off and heading toward Mariupol.
[speaking Russian] [music from a hurdy gurdy] [speaking Russian] (narrator) Among those migrants are several of the staff members at Angelia clinic, a physical and mental health facility located int the heart of the capital.
As invading Russian forces draw closer, many fear for their homes and families nearby.
[many people speaking] [speaking in Russian] [speaking in Russian] [loud siren] [dog barking] I turned my head towards the window and I saw three rockets flying over my house.
I never remember myself running that fast.
[speaking in Ukrainian] [speaking in Russian] [speaking in Ukrainian] [speaking in Russian] [speaking in Ukrainian] [speaking in Russian] [classical piano melody] [speaking in Ukrainian] Global outrage grew today as more horrific revelations surface from Bucha, Ukraine, a town northwest of Kyiv.
Hundreds of Ukrainians died there, many apparently executed by Russian troops as the they retreated from the town last week.
This is the most potent symbol of the Russian defeat here in Bucha.

[somber string music] [speaking in Ukrainian] [speaking in Russian] [melancholy yet hopeful piano] What I know, is when people are fighting for you, your future, it makes you feel like you need to do something as well, here.
If you are not on the frontline, you need to do something here.
[speaking in Russian] [speaking in Ukrainian] [piano melody slows and stops] [speaking in Ukrainian] [festive cell phone ringtone] (narrator) As more Ukrainian territory is liberated from Russian occupation, the clinic sees a need to help those left in the aftermath, heading to the southern city of Mykolaiv.
[dramatic piano] Those who survive the occupation are often left without access to even basic healthcare, making these mobile clinic trips all the more important.
[speaking in Ukrainian] [speaking in Russian] (narrator) While in Mykolaiv the clinic leadership has asked for volunteers to go even closer to the front lines.
[somber piano melody] [speaking in Russian] (Sofiia) The last time I saw my aunt who lives there was before the war started.
[speaking in Russian] [hopeful violin] (Sofiia) While we were filming, this couple told us to follow them home.
There was something we had to see.

With much of rural America medically underserved and hundreds of hospitals closing for good, Lost Rivers Medical Center, a 35 minute helicopter flight from the nearest trauma center, works to defy the odds and keep their doors open.
(male voice) During an emergency it can, it can be the difference between life and death.

We got an air ambulance in route and they should be here within the next 10 minutes.
