I am a volunteer with the Laskiainen group.
So the Laskiainen Festival is actually a very traditional Finnish sliding festival.
It's usually the first weekend before Ash Wednesday.
The bread that's being baked today is being sold at the Laskiainen event and it has origins from back when this first started and even prior to that in Finland, when the ladies came over from there, they brought this recipe and we followed those pretty closely.
And the money that is generated from the event goes to the local community center here.
I think it's really important to know where you came from as you move forward in your life.
It gives you a backbone to what you're going to do, and keeping that alive is so important.
I think a lot of the youngsters miss out on that, and so we try really hard to allow that to be shared amongst the people in this area.
