Prescribed burns are carried out to inhibit wildfires later on
Fire officials across New Jersey are getting ready for what they believe could be an active wildfire season. In preparation, they’re carrying out prescribed burns, where they intentionally set controlled fires to various wooded areas. Officials say the practice slows flames from spreading in the event of a wildfire.
