(upbeat music) - More kids are hitting the green this year in Utah, thanks to Culture Clinics.
The program expands access to golf, to children from all walks of life.
Here to tell us how Culture Clinics help students perfect their drive are Nta William Uttah and Amari, his son.
Welcome, thank you guys so much for joining us.
- Yeah, thank you so much for having us today.
- So tell me about Culture Clinics who can participate in this program?
- Well, first off, everyone can participate and let me dial that back a little bit.
Every youth who aspires to learn something new.
If you're five to 17 years old and you're looking to try something new or if you're a parent looking to get your child into a new sport, golf is not traditionally the first one that you consider.
But what we're trying to do at Culture Clinics is bridge the gap of diversity here in the State of Utah in youth golf.
- And Amari, you're one of the team co-founders of this organization.
What's it been like for you to participate in this?
- I mean, it's been a really good journey and I'm glad my dad has taken me along with him and we want to make it bigger in the state.
So if they don't have that opportunity, we give them the clubs, we give them the life skills.
And so what a class would look like would just be us helping them out on their golf game, giving them life skills and everything that we would strive to do.
- And I love that you guys combine giving life skills and kind of empowering youth through this program.
Some people might think that cost could be a barrier to doing this.
How do you guys break through that and help people overcome that?
- Well, cost is a barrier and probably one of the biggest things that maybe parents look to sports like basketball and soccer.
Those where you buy that equipment one time and you can use it many and you just, you don't need much to participate in that.
Well, I've partnered with the First Tee to make it simple for people to learn the sport, get access to equipment and the coaching needed to build the skill to become a better golfer.
- Yeah, so important.
Well, thank you so much for joining us and for being here.
We appreciate you guys sharing this information and I know it's gonna be helpful.
