Proposed changes to New Jersey's abortion rules would widen the list of medical professionals who are allowed to perform surgical abortions in the office. Currently only licensed doctors hold that privilege, but New Jersey's Board of Medical Examiners wants to let advanced practice clinicians perform so-called vacuum abortions. It's an emotional issue with political implications.
