Critics: NJ must open offices for unemployment claims

Many tired New Jersey residents want the Department of Labor to reopen field offices.

Many New Jersey residents tired of waiting for long-delayed unemployment checks say they'd like the Department of Labor to reopen field offices around the state so they can solve claim problems in-person with staff. Throughout the pandemic, all claims have been handled online or over the phone and lawmakers from both sides of the aisle say it's not working, citing a 48,000 case backlog.
