We'll miss our plane.
Dad> Don't worry, Mike.
We got plenty of time to get to the airport.
Mom> Mike, What are you most excited about, visiting Uncle Steve and Aunt Linda, or flying on that plane?
Mike> I want to see Uncle Steve and Aunt Linda.
But, I want to fly on that plane, too.
♪ ♪ Mom> Mike, are you sure you don't mind flying on the plane alone?
Dad> He won't be alone.
There'll be lots of people on that plane with him.
A flight attendant will take care of anything you need.
And Mike, if you need anything or want anything, you just ask the stewardess and she'll help you.
Mike> I'll remember.
Mom> When you get to Atlanta, you're going to have to change planes.
So be sure and get on the right plane, or you may end up in, no telling where.
Dad> A stewardess will help him change planes.
Everything will be just fine.
You know, I bet Mike is really going to enjoy flying.
Ticket Agent> Gate number five, ma'am Have a nice day.
How are you doing?
Dad> Fine.
How are you doing?
Dad> I have a reservation on the 4-20 to Jacksonville.
Ticket Agent> What's the name?
Dad> Mike Grant.
Ticket Agent> It's $53, sir.
Flown before Mike?
Dad> No, it's his first time.
Ticket Agent> First trip.
Okay, how about pinning this on his shirt.
that will identify him as flyer.
People in Atlanta and Jacksonville, will know he's flying alone.
Dad> Okay.
You want to do that?
Ticket Agent> Thank you.
I'll need some information on the folks meeting him in Jacksonville.
Dad> Steve and Linda Hamilton will be meeting in Jacksonville Ticket Agent> And their phone contact?
Dad> Their phone number is 6-8-8 12-37.
Ticket Agent> All righty.
Only checking one bag?
Dad> Yeah, we're just checking one.
Ticket Agent> All righty.
Checking out at gate five about 4 o'clock.
Dad> Okay.
Both> Thank you very much.
Ticket Agent> Have a nice flight, Mike.
Dad> Mike, hang on to that now.
♪ You're here at the airport.
♪ ♪ You just can't wait.
♪ You're ready to fly away.
♪ ♪ Going to visit some friends.
♪ Have a real good time.
♪ ♪ Fly on an airplane ♪ for the very first time.
♪ ♪ You packed up ♪ all the things you need ♪ ♪ while you're away from home.
♪ ♪ They'll put your suitcase ♪ on the plane ♪ ♪ and you'll pick it up ♪ when you land again.
♪ ♪ Lots of people ♪ will fly with you.
♪ ♪ Going their own way.
♪ ♪ People flying everywhere ♪ each and every day, ♪ ♪ each and every day.
♪ Mike> What's that?
Dad> That's the security check.
They want to make sure that no one brings any dangerous weapons on board the plane.
Security> Place the bag on the x-ray machine, please.
Walk through the door one at a time.
If you have any metal in your pockets, place it on the table, please.
Mike> What happened?
Security> Do you have any metal in your pockets?
Mike> I've got these.
Security> Okay.
That's probably what caused the machine to react.
Go back through, please.
Okay.
Thank you.
Here's your keys.
Thank you.
Dad> Here you go, Mike.
Dad> Hi.
How are you doing?
Agent> Fine.
How are you?
Dad> Fine.
Thank you.
Agent> Is he traveling alone?
Dad> Yes, he is.
Agent> When we call for people needing assistance, let him board then.
Dad> Okay.
How about changing planes in Atlanta?
Agent> Someone will meet him and take him to his next flight.
They've already been notified.
Dad> Okay, good.
Thank you very much.
Agent> Thank you.
Dad> Okay, Mike.
Let's go.
Okay, Mike.
Now, put this ticket right in here, so when you get on the planes, you'll know where it is when you get to Atlanta.
Okay?
Announcer> Delta Airlines flight 467.
Dad> 467 is our flight.
Mom> So, Mike, give Uncle Steve and Aunt Linda a big hug for me.
And don't lose your ticket.
If you need anything on the plane, be sure and ask the stewardess.
Now, have a good time.
Dad> All right, Mike look here.
You be sure and tell Uncle Steve to call, as soon as you get there.
Be good.
Here's your ticket.
Have a good time.
Bye bye.
Mom> Bye bye.
♪ Stewardess> Here's your seat, Mike 2-A, right by the window, here.
I'm going to put your bag right underneath the seat.
First thing I want to show you is your seatbelt.
Push it in like this.
It locks into place.
Release it.
And lift this lever here.
And it releases it, okay?
Here on your arm rest, you have some control buttons.
This is the light that turns the light on and off.
This one down here is your air conditioning vent, and you push it for high, low and off.
And this is your flight attendant call button.
And you pull it.
You see that blue light up there?
That goes off and the bell rings and it lets the flight attendant know you want something So we come over.
and we reset it and get you what you need.
Okay?
This is our oxygen system.
And there's a mask just like this one, up in that rectangular panel up there.
And if this should ever fall, during flight, fall down from the panel, you put this yellow cup over your noise and mouth and put this one on your head and breathe normally.
Okay?
And we'll come and tell you when you don't need it anymore.
And who are you going to see in Jacksonville.
Mike> My aunt and uncle.
Stewardess> How long are you going to visit with them?
Mike> A week.
Stewardess> That's really nice.
That's a long way from Columbia, isn't it?
Mike> Yeah.
Stewardess> I'll tell you what, I need to go get the rest of the passengers, but I'll come back and see you once we get in the air.
Okay?
If you ride in a car, you got to follow the road.
♪ If you ride on a train, ♪ ♪ you got to go ♪ where the tracks lie.
♪ ♪ But fly on a plane ♪ and you follow the sky ways ♪ ♪ no street ♪ signs to stop you ♪ ♪ Just go through ♪ the blue skies.
♪ ♪ You hear the big engines ♪ make a loud roaring sound ♪ ♪ Feel the plane move, ♪ ♪ as the wheels ♪ leave the ground.
♪ ♪ Look all around you.
♪ ♪ It's a beautiful day ♪ ♪ And things on the ground ♪ look tiny and so far away, ♪ ♪ ♪ so far away.
♪ ♪ ♪ So you see you can fly ♪ ♪ without feathers ♪ or wings.
♪ ♪ You need airplane pilots ♪ and those kinds of things.
♪ ♪ ♪ You can feel the plane move ♪ as it lifts you so high.
♪ ♪ And the great silver wings ♪ ♪ shine bright ♪ as you go through the sky, ♪ ♪ ♪ you go through the sky.
♪ Stewardess> Mike, would you like something to drink?
Mike> I'd like a coke.
Stewardess> Okay.
Would you care for some peanuts?
Mike> No thank you.
Stewardess> Here's an airplane for you.
And a set of wings for you to put on your shirt.
Okay?
Mike> Thank you.
♪ When you're flying, ♪ you can read a book.
♪ ♪ You can take a nap ♪ when you're flying, ♪ ♪ the pilot flies ♪ the plane for you.
♪ ♪ Just sit in your seat ♪ and enjoy the view, ♪ ♪ when you're flying.
♪ Stewardess> Well, Mike, we're almost ready to land.
Mike> Already?
Stewardess> Yeah, that only takes about 25 minutes to get from Columbia to Atlanta.
Mike> When we go by car, it takes almost four hours.
Stewardess> I know.
That's why people like to fly so much.
It doesn't take long at all to get from one place to another.
If you look out the window.
You ought to be able to see Atlanta.
Right over there, as we land And once we get on the ground, I want you to stay seated.
And I'll come back and walk out you off.
Okay?
♪ Well, you heard them say ♪ ♪ what goes up ♪ must come down.
♪ ♪ Now, the pilot's going to put ♪ that big plane on the ground.
♪ ♪ You can see the runways.
♪ You can see the trees go by.
♪ ♪ And things look ♪ much bigger now ♪ ♪ as those big wheels ♪ touch the ground ♪ ♪ and time goes so fast, ♪ ♪ when you fly, ♪ when you fly, ♪ Stewardess> Welcome to Atlanta, ladies and gentleman.
Rolling on down as you taxi on the ground to another plane that's waiting for you, with so many nice people to help you on your way.
Stewardess> Now, I'm going to turn you over to a gentleman out here.
He'll make sure you get your next flight.
Okay?
♪ ♪ So many people, ♪ people everywhere ♪ ♪ waiting to meet their friends ♪ are flying off somewhere.
♪ ♪ ♪ Lines of people ♪ going their way.
♪ ♪ This airport's ♪ so busy today.
♪ ♪ It's so busy today.
♪ ♪ Agent> Mike's flying by himself today.
Agent 2> How are you doing Mike?
Mike> Fine.
Announcer> Delta Airlines flight 8224 Agent> Can we go ahead and board?
♪ Announcer> All aboard please.
This is the final call.
♪ Up off the ground.
♪ ♪ Up in the air.
♪ ♪ It won't be long now.
♪ ♪ You'll soon be there.
♪ ♪ Faster than the ♪ birds can fly.
♪ ♪ Airplanes go so very high.
♪ ♪ Flying so straight ♪ and far better than a car.
♪ Steward> Mike, how are you doing?
Mike> Fine.
Steward> Good.
I brought you a book to read before lunch.
It's got a couple of our airplanes in there, you can look at and maybe a puzzle or two, you might want to work.
Okay?
Mike> Thanks.
Steward> If you need anything between now and then, you just pull your button.
All right?
Hello, there sir.
I hope you enjoy it.
♪ Are you ready for your lunch, ma'am?
♪ Hungry, Mike?
Mike> Yeah.
Steward> Here you go, barbecue chicken.
I hope you like it.
♪ Now, it's time for lunch, ♪ ♪ even though you're ♪ on a plane.
♪ ♪ I brought you lots of good ♪ food right there on your tray.
♪ ♪ And if you're hungry, ♪ you can eat.
♪ ♪ Have your dinner ♪ at your seat.
♪ ♪ Cause, it's fun ♪ to eat your dinner ♪ ♪ on the plane.
♪ ♪ It's fun ♪ to eat your dinner, ♪ ♪ ♪ on the plane.
♪ Steward> How was your meal, Mike?
Mike> That was good.
Steward> I'm glad you liked it.
♪ ♪ ♪ This airplane ride ♪ is coming to an end.
♪ ♪ It was fun to fly, ♪ ♪ and make a few ♪ new friends.
♪ ♪ ♪ After your visit, ♪ ♪ you come back here again, ♪ and fly back home ♪ ♪ and do it all again.
♪ ♪ ♪ You can come ♪ back here and do it again, ♪ ♪ ♪ all again.
♪ Uncle Steve> Hey fellow.
How did you like flying, Mike?
Mike> It was great I'd like to be a pilot.
Aunt Linda> You would?
Maybe Uncle Steve will take you to see the planes he flies.
Mike> Would you Uncle Steve?
Uncle Steve> We'll see.
Let's go get your baggage.
♪ ♪ It takes ♪ so many people.
♪ ♪ ♪ Doing so many things.
♪ ♪ ♪ Taking care ♪ of your luggage.
♪ ♪ ♪ Putting fuel ♪ in the plane.
♪ ♪ ♪ Selling people ♪ their tickets.
♪ ♪ Helping them go ♪ on their way.
♪ ♪ ♪ Like the stewardess ♪ serving your dinner ♪ ♪ or the pilot ♪ that flies you away.
♪ ♪ ♪ Cause it takes ♪ so many people ♪ ♪ ♪ each and every day.
♪ ♪ ♪ People working together, ♪ ♪ helping you go ♪ on your way.
