Four Richmond public schools have started early

To battle a learning gap, four Richmond public schools will start the school year in July.

As part of an ongoing pilot project, four Richmond public schools have chosen to start the school year early. Cardinal, Fairfield Court, Oak Grove-Bellemeade and Woodville elementary schools have all started the school year already. Administrators say it yields benefits in both reading and absenteeism. But critics say it is a misallocation of resources.
