and you're Australian bronc rider Cooper Thatcher Outside, hey boys, hey boys.
Ooh boy, that's a bucking horse right there.
Oh yeah.
My name is Shane Burris.
I'm from Mosca, Colorado, in the San Luis Valley.
I've been announcing rodeos since I was 20 years old, my dream has always been to announce the National Finals Rodeo.
I mean, that is that's the number one event in our game.
The best part about my dad is that he's really loving and caring for when I do.
And he tries, you know, he really tries to be a good father for me.
he's the best version of a dad that you can really be.
one thing he can be a little bit better about is to let me ride steers.
Its rodeo time in the grassland All right, here we go.
What's the big man?
Oh, boy.
Look at him put the crank on one He did everything but bite that steer on the lips.
One second you can be sitting on top of the world, and the next second you can be so humble.
It happens that fast and rodeo.
I was riding bulls in college, And one night in practice, I got stepped on, broke my leg.
It was right during that time when “8 Seconds the movie came out bull riding really blew up.
Then all of a sudden, you know, you had all these guys want to be bull riders.
And it became a very popular thing at that time.
And, so a friend of mine was announcing these jackpot bull riding that we were doing there in Windsor, And, he said, hey, why don't you announce the bull riding?
And I said, really?
You want me to announce the bull riding?
And he says, yeah, he says, I got all the equipment right here.
Just, you know, you know, the guys just jump up there and do it.
Well, they didn't know that when I was in high school, I competed in public speaking, and I had done some major public speaking, in Future Business Leaders of America.
And so I was comfortable with microphone.
And so I grabbed it.
And of course, I knew a lot of the guys that were riding.
And, knew the bulls, too.
And, that's how my career as an announcer started.
back in there.
Oh, wow.
That's what you go.
Hammer time.
Oh, boy.
they're making it tougher on rodeo in terms of insurance is getting more expensive.
there's inflation within rodeo, believe it or not.
these people that just sit in the audience, don't see what we do behind the scenes.
it's not like we can just end the rodeo.
It's like we stop the rodeo at nine.
We don't get home until eight one, two from working and mopping.
Why do you.
Yeah.
You can't ask for, Look, I gotta run.
No.

Come on.
Kick, kick, kick!
I guess if there was one thing that I want to be known for as rodeo announcer, the one thing that I try to bring to the table every time I turn the microphone on is, not only it's my job to help other people feel good about themselves, but I always tell people, hey, if I'm not having fun, I'm not doing my job.
it's about having fun.
When life gives you a house, move it.
