(upbeat music) - Park City's historic McPolin Farm hosts Full Moon Snowshoe at the Farm, a magical winter evening of snowshoeing and community gathering.
Here to share more are Paige Galvin and Jaelee Watanabe.
Welcome both of you.
Thank you for being here.
This is your first time on the show.
- Yes.
- You know, Park City is such a beautiful place in the winter, and you have this farm that I didn't even realize what its purpose was, but every time I drive up to Park City, especially in the winter, I see that beautiful white barn with the the wreath on it, and that's the McPolin Farm.
And Paige, Park City bought that farm for a very specific reason.
- They did.
They bought it back in 1991.
There was interest from a developer to turn it into a Smiths Marketplace.
So luckily, we had people with the foresight and vision to purchase that land from the Oscar Thorpe family at the time, and create a historic and aesthetic entry corridor into Park City's community.
- That is such a beautiful way to welcome people into Park City.
And Jaelee, you're a friend of the farm.
Can you tell us a little bit about the history of the farm?
- The farm was purchased by Daniel and Isabelle McPolin in 1897 to raise cattle that they then sold in their meat shop along Main Street.
- And now, it's this historic building that you use as a gathering space for events, this snowshoeing event being one of them.
Paige, tell us a little bit about the event.
- The event starts, the doors open at 5:45.
We'll have a chili dinner served at six o'clock.
It's catered by PC Elite Chefs, so it'd be a vegetarian option, meat option for chili, cornbread, a great salad, and then we wrap it up with these amazing salted caramel chocolate chip cookies.
Also, we'll have some hot beverages, but that all happens after the snowshoe, which we'll have a beginner track and an intermediate track.
- Okay, so if you've never been snowshoeing before, it's okay to show up for this?
- Absolutely, all ages, all levels.
We provide the snowshoes as well, so if you don't have your own, we provide them for you.
- Oh, that sounds perfect, and now I wanna attend, so thank you for coming to tell me about it and our audience, and thank you for being here.
If you would like to learn more about this wonderful event from Park City Municipal Corporation, the Full Moon Snowshoe at the Farm, it happens January 31st.
