The video's a deepfake, but who's the actor behind this?
♪ Well, someone who had access to Adam's phone, someone who knew about his history with Sonny, somebody close.

♪ It was Ruby.
Now I have the final piece of DNA evidence here.
I'm gonna give it to the police for testing, and then we'll have proof.
And then the only thing that Ruby's gonna be playing is prison bars.

Or you're here for the DNA evidence against Ruby.
You want to know what it is and where it is.
No, I'm not sure what you're talking about.
But Ruby's my friend, so, you know, enlighten me.

Well, for starters, I was fibbing.
Yeah.
DNA evidence?

[Laughs] How did it all happen with you and Ruby?
I mean, was there a day when you just fell for her back at uni, or did the love grow slowly?
No, we're just friends.

But she was with Adam, and he was fun, successful, getting rich.
I was happy for them.
They were both my mates.
Yeah, how happy were you when Adam said that they were getting their own place?
I mean, Adam was squeezing you out of Ruby's life, just like he squeezed out Spencer.
So you made a plan.
Adam had told you about his history with your neighbor, Sonny Ingram.
So the guy had a motive.
And then just in case the police didn't make the link, you made a deepfake video.
[Chuckles incredulously] Wh-- I just whipped together a deepfake, did I?
You got the skills.
You've got the gear.
You stitched together the audio from Adam's podcasts, and you filmed yourself delivering that speech.
And then you replaced your face with Adam's.
If you catch this, I'm probably dead.
You're making me out to be some kind of genius.
Oh, was that how it sounds?
[Chuckles softly] Okay, you waited for an opportunity to steal Sonny Ingram's key and security pass.
And then on a night when you knew that Adam would be going to the bar late, you hacked into the building's CCTV camera system and you shut down all but one camera.
You said good night, and you took yourself off to bed a little early, and then you snuck out.
You found a spot in the parking garage, and you waited for Adam.
You called him over.
He had no idea what was about to happen.
♪ [Grunts] You killed your friend.
And you put his body in the boot of Sonny Ingram's car.
Then you dumped his body and you torched the car where you knew it would be found quickly, full of evidence against Sonny Ingram.
You walked home, snuck into your bedroom where Ruby thought you'd been all night, and then you waited for her, and she would come to you and she'd fall to bits, and you'd be there to pick up the pieces.
What a guy.
♪ ♪ The only flaw in all of this... It's me.
[Chuckles] And I'm Nate.
I'm...just Adam Hall's nerdy friend.
I couldn't do that murder.
♪ You know, to hold a knife in your hand and feel that weight, to swing it, hard, with... perfect accuracy, feel it slice through flesh and cartilage and see their eyes lifeless as their body hits the ground, that takes some sort of steel.

It's not like there's a how-to manual.
There are literally thousands of how-to manuals.
But you don't need one of those.
