We realize there is a really bad disconnect between food and people, and with Kentucky being a huge agriculture state, we can't let that happen anymore.
The mission is to pretty much shake the branches of the government and let them know there is a lesson.
There should be no reason as much beautiful access we have to produce and the beautiful farmers that we have here in this state.
There is no reason that anyone should go without food.
Food justice is pretty much why we're around.
Why the food council's around is to make sure that people aren't being denied fresh food.
People aren't being denied food, period.
There's so many vacant areas in the city where food can be grown.
So we are digging into the policies of how to release the red tape off of and the political aspect of owning land, because there's so many vacant spaces, green spaces around and people own.
I'm just owner and not doing anything with it.
So we're trying to eliminate that bureaucratic mess.
That's all it is.
So, you know, people are hungry.
People need.
When you have a green space in a neighborhood where there's no grocery store anywhere for miles, we need to put food there so people can walk up the street and harvest the veggie and take home and feed their family.
So that's that's the number one goal.
We're really tapping into people who always had the vision in their mind, but they didn't know how to go for.
And then we also introduce new people like the younger generation, because we need that young body.
Get out here, get the work done.
It's all full circle.
So we, the Food Vision Group members and the council are trying to connect everybody involved with food within this city, within this county.
We're starting with this county.
Next, we going for the state.
Next, we're going for the work.
Louisville Mayor Greg Greenberg declared December 4th, 2020, for Food Vision 2030 Day.
