Live from the Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta.
It's the class A State football championship between the Wesleyan wolves with a record of 12 and 2 out of Region, 8, a and the defending state champion, ECI bulldogs for the record of 14 and 0 out of region 3A.
Hello everybody.
Nice to have you along with us in the Georgia Dome for that state class a championship.
Ship game, Tommy, we'd like to invite everybody at home to take it, get ready pill because this is going to be a beauty.
If you read new, local paper, a preview of today's game, this one from the AJC, here in Atlanta.
Throw it away.
It's very simple.
You're going to have one team that reminds you of Texas Tech and that's Wesley and they spread it around, they run a spread offense, they'll throw the ball all over the carpet and then on the other side, you've got an Ohio state of sorts.
They're going to run it straight at you.
The only similarity is both teams have big offensive lines thing.
I like about it is.
It's contrasting Styles.
Contrasting.
Philosophies both philosophies got up here to the state championship.
That's right.
If you were a coach at home, you might like to see how these teams matchup, but there's a kind of Welton, by the way, some Old-Timers might recognize his dad Scott.
Well Chris Wilton who Captain the 1980 Georgia Bulldogs and they went on to win a National Championship.
Connor is a great thrower and The great leader, you're gonna see a lot of him throwing the ball this afternoon and there's a Kyle crimp Alice, and he's a, an excellent running back.
Only a sophomore, you can really pick him up and put him down.
We ran for a 1700 yards this year and he's like Knowshon Moreno as soon as he's tackled.
He'll hop up and Jog right back to the Huddle.
We asked Franklin bridge and the head coach of the Wesleyan walls.
What to expect out of his team today.
Well, Wesleyan is a multiple I formation offense.
What that means is that we run traditional i-formation plays but we like to do it from a variety of different ways.
Different formations.
We like to spread our opponents out, we like to feature a balanced attack.
We've got a multi talented quarterback.
We've got a fantastic tailback, we've got a few super receivers in a great offensive line.
So we think we've got ways to attack opposing defenses in a lot of different and exciting manners defensively.
We're also multiple wheel.
To show a lot of different fronts to our opponents will show up three man front of four man front and then even though 50 defense, sometimes we're extremely physical up front.
We love to run to the ball.
That's really sort of a whole Market Wesleyan.
We think that it's easy for our kids to run that kind of a multiple scheme, but it's difficult for our opponents to prepare for Well, yeah.
He, you know, he's excited about this game.
I enjoyed talking to both of these coaches this week.
Both of them really are fun guys to be around in the very confident, with their team.
Let's take a look at a couple of the ECI Bulldogs.
There's was Sean Ali.
Hey he just happens to be the all-time touchdown leader in the state of Georgia and he's already committed to UGA.
You're going to see a lot of him today and over 2,700 rushing yards.
He's really something and there's Mark flow Mark plug and he's six feet too old He's already.
He's well, he's considering Georgia, Southern Wofford or firm and he's got 100, 16 tackles and he's going to be playing defense today.
We asked coach Brian Turner, what to expect from his ECI Bulldogs today offensively, we based out of the wing T. Very fortunate to feature the state's all-time touchdown later and single-season.
Rushing record, holder with Shaunie, Lee just have an outstanding season.
So we're going to make sure that he gets his share of touches.
And then from there, you know, try to mix in.
We've got several talented backs.
Try to mix mix some other guys in the Run game and Hopefully open it up so our quarterback Michael Robertson can can throw the ball.
He's had a great year doing that.
So try to keep them off balance as best we can defensively.
We were based out of a 3/4 seen, a lot of spread teams you know, will be a 50-inch to back, people.
Spreading it out, you'll see us drop some, some ends out and coverage.
So we're going to, we're going to have to do a great job this week making sure that we stop Westlands Run game and be ready for the past.
Got a great quarterback.
So They're going to present a lot of problems for us defensively.
We've got this game covered on both sides of the field.
Today, let's go down to Scott Kozlowski.
And Lise, Lise, thank you very much, Tommy.
I had a chance to get coach Turner's last-minute thoughts on how they're going to win this football game.
He said offensive ly, they're going to do what they always do, which means a heavy dose of with Shaunie lie.
He said defensively, he knows he can't stop Wesleyan, but they're going to have to slow him down which makes third Downs.
Particularly important.
He needs its defense, to play a physical football game with all 11 players heading to the ball.
And lastly, he said this game.
Only one kind of image.
Now, let's go over to Lisa, we saw on the Wesleyan sidelines.
Thanks God.
No, unlike ECI.
Nobody expected.
Wesley, to make it this far on September 12th.
The walls fell, the one and two and it was a lost.
The Holy Innocents.
That was the turning point of this team.
They decided right then and there that they did not want to be just mediocre.
So they came together like a Band of Brothers taking on the attitude that I will do, whatever it takes to help my brother on this football field and so far, it seems to be working.
All the players and coaches, wear a green bracelet, just like this one.
That has one word on it family and you know what?
Here they are three months later.
Pay for their first ever state championship game on the grand estate and Tommy is coach, Bridget likes to say.
It doesn't get much better than this.
The kickoff is moments away coming up next.
Get ready for the kickoff.
Wesleyan has won the toss and deferred to the second half.
ECI will receive Wesleyan will kick off as we get ready to start this state class a championship.
There's that the family atmosphere that Lisa was talking about ran, great crowd.
Hi, driving kick over the shoulder, catch into the end zone.
Now, out of the end zone, going to bring this one up to the 20, where ECI will take it over at the 20 yard line though.
That was almost a disaster for each see, eye-to-eye CI.
Tommy, you know, if they had let that ball go out of bounds, we saw that college football week ago, it's just Michael Robertson the quarterback.
He will be at the controls for EC eyes.
You can see See, Goodyear percentage-wise throwing the ball 44 out of 80 621 yards, high percentage of touchdowns on completions very low interceptions.
ECI comes up, short slot to the right gonna run, the counter inside, got a block at the corner.
Dex Moody out of bounds down at the 31 Carter Garrison on the stop.
Well what a great changeup to begin the game for easy.
I you see it's a little crushed Buck at action right there.
And, you know, it was not with Shaunie lie.
Carrying the ball which is a changeup.
That's a, what it'd feel Wesleyan would be expecting.
Dexter hooting a great year, 37 rushes 281 yards.
Just over seven yards per carry and three touchdowns Wing right formation.
Give us to Moody and Moody's down to the 31 yard line.
Gavin Stanton up front.
We've got dates Turner JC, linear Newkirk and Milton.
It's a good offensive line though.
Yeah, very good in that Gene in the back here.
It's really big in the backfield mu D, mu D, Ely Sanford and the tight in is edenfield.
Second and eight.
The give to Ely across the left side.
On defense for Wesleyan, Watson Donovan, Patrick and Parish up front in the, for the three backers are Garrison, Fulton and Hall, and the secondary is Ellis fithian, Russell and Stanton third down and five.
Now wing left formation.
Man in Motion, the Gibb is to Ely.
Short of a first down down at about the 25.
We expect to see easily get the ball a lot.
He averages 25 to 30 carries per game and I guess the opening play.
The misdirection was really the thing that set it up for him.
But I think you're right, Johnny, that was a great, stop my Wesleyan right there to take away the first down.
Now we have a fourth down, of course, the balls on the 25, fourth down and two.
Can I guess who's going to get the ball?
You can guess.
Yes, Sanford.
Split wide left option.
Bounce.
Excellent.
Defense on decks Moody Wesleyan.
Really fired up.
Jay, Jay Russell on the stop will Wesley.
It's going to feel pretty good about themselves.
The way their defense started this game, they even gave up that one, long run to text booty but that was actually a great play call to begin the game.
By ECI.
Now that you feel good about themselves, they got to stop down here deep in their territory.
All right, let's see what Wesley and Des here and there.
First, flurry first down and ten from the 29, West Coast formation Man, in Motion, gonna give on a counter not much there.
Uppercross the 28th to the 29th.
Everybody can see how Wesley and approaches the offensive part of the game.
They had two stacked receivers on the right and then that cross crossing action and the wide receiver wide left, Connor Welton, calls the signals one 13 out of 20 for 1402 yards 12 touchdowns on the year.
Good percentage of interceptions as well.
Found the open man up at the 41.
It's kind of Welton, delivering the ball and I watch them warm up today, by the way, Wesley and just came in this morning EC, I was here yesterday, up front, Wesley, ins got Patrick Parish Sheffield zaleski and Andrews and in the backfield, Carol, current Palace Alice, Porter, and Jay.
Jay Russell is your tied in?
First down Wesleyan up at the 41.
Now, Wesleyan comes in at 12 and 2, e CI, 14 and 0.
Slot to the left traditional.
I back-formation gain of a couple across the left side.
First hit made by Sanford across that front defensive line for ECI.
You've got Moody Ellison, linear Milton and Todd and that five-man front two backers, Mark, flot and Gordon.
And in the secondary you've got Branch Kirkland edenfield and Sanford game was to out of the traditional, I formation second down and about eight quarterback.
Gonna Roll little screen back.
Across the middle up to the 45 really well-designed play.
You know what they did in the big pass play earlier?
They had four wives this time.
They had three whites and they come back to the back side.
Have to run influencing to the other side and comes back right there and he always delivers a very catchable ball.
One thing will keep you honest on defense and that's a screen that was perfectly called third down and about for conquer up oldest.
Twenty Eight receptions on the year.
412 yards, four touchdowns, he's averaging 15 yards of pop.
That's pretty sporty.
Yeah, that really is third down and four and a half.
Now west coast.
Look Wide open at the 46 yard line.
Bobby Worthington on the catch?
How did the big gold Lyman like Criswell?
Never ever raised a kid that is that smooth?
Cool and can throw like that?
No idea.
But he does have some athletic ability Worthington.
18 catches on the year.
Here's another look wide open and out of bounds first down 10, Two wide slots, Welton, you talk fast?
For impetus down to the 23 where Ramon Sanford.
Brings in down.
You you tug Fest that was leaked Rosco.
That's it.
He don't remember that.
Of course they do.
If I call it the shovel pass now, but it was a good soft path.
You took a leaf grows, come on, you heard that.
But what a well-designed the play that is agency, Western is one to watch, aren't they?
Come on telling you.
They had nine different formations in nine plays here, by the way, ECI has not lost a game since November of 06, I know.
Short slot and a wide slot, deep snap, Welton wide open and Drew Anderson Porter, on the touchdown, throw can't peek 23-yard touchdown pass, Tommy, you can't peek in that corner.
Back on that side came up.
There is right there.
It was Moody.
I believe and he came Up and Pete, then receivable went behind him.
Porter with the catch 23-yard touchdown.
And now the point from placement, good snap good.
Hold and the kick is good.
So Wesleyan on the board first here.
Bo.
Yeah, very impressive.
Fixing it up all the way down the field.
There's a crowd, getting a little nutty.
They're getting excited.
Let's take a time out here with the score Wesley and 70s AI.
Nothing will be right back.
We're back live, from the Georgia Dome, ECI Emanuel County Institute and Wesleyan.
Hard added here, Wesley and leads early on their first drive, seven, and nothing.
And a little short pooch kick which will be taken at the 25.
Gonna break a tackle, their decks Moody on the return will again coach Pridgen realizes how explosive ECI is.
And you rather just pop up that little pooch kick seven plays, 71 yards, three minutes and 26 times seconds elapsed It was a 23 yard, TD reception for Westland.
Let's see.
Now if he see I could answer the Bell here up at the 40 Robertson gives to Ely breaks across the 46 to about the 47 yard line, Georgia.
Bulldogs like the way he made that cut right there we mentioned earlier, he's already committed to Georgia, right 50 and on a stop for Wesleyan.
Wesleyan in that four man, front.
ECI with a wing and a wide receiver.
Had a man wide open and threw it behind him down at the 45 yard line.
Pass was intended for Brooks Kirkland, well Robertson really loaded up on that and it was high, but it was catchable.
But you see the difference between them and a team that throws a lot?
And what you're getting from Welton over there?
Everything seems catchable that ball would have been a tough catch.
Wesley, I'm sick.
40% as far as run and throw ECI 90% run 10% throw through the season Wing formation.
The give is to Moody.
I believe we're Sean Healey got the first down as he crosses Midfield and the Wesleyan territory down at the 48.
What was shot packs?
A lot of at the point of contact.
That's it.
What?
He's got.
Good vision of great backs have to have good vision.
See, the daylight?
They also have to have just exactly what he just did the spin moves when they're hit.
They spent out of the tackle reminds me of myself.
I'm sure first down and ten.
The hand is to the up man, and there's very little air, Wesleyan.
Tyrone Johnson on the carry and Barrett Hall.
The linebacker, one of the first ones to stop if there, I'm sure the coaches upstairs, really like the way that play he developed, it will come back with that same look and then make the pitch.
Second, and a long nine for E CI.
Wing to the right.
Now, they're going to have to call the timeout.
Wind-up wrong.
Yeah, couldn't get everybody set and a short slot to the left and a wing to the right.
We need viewers like you to help support the live broadcast of these games.
You can show your support by becoming a member of Georgia, public television, simply call 1-866-931-6190.
Now, very much for supporting Georgia Public Broadcasting.
It looks like the wolf is pretty scary wolf, second down, and nine.
Now, for ECI after a timeout to sort out.
Things Wesley, ins opening drive very impressive.
Yes, it really was.
And now he's got second, a long right here for E CI and see what they can come up with double.
In the right hand side, Robertson a wing left than a Double Wing to the right kind of an offset.
Looking i-formation.
Rolling the throw got pressure looking for a lie down at the 35 yard line, good pressure in there, look like a linebacker blitzed in their pressure, but watch this flock, I hope we could see it to the right there, couldn't see it, but it was a great block to get him outside.
Pressure came from Merritt Hall.
The backer 3rd down and 9.
Robertson brings him up.
And we got timeout down on the field.
Momentary.
This is a big down 3ci very big.
You don't want to give it back to Western and right away.
Obviously just a discussion about where the placement of the ball was is Milan Turner.
Yeah, shorts lot, right?
There's Ali breaks a tackle and hips down to the 41 where Devin Stanton makes a stop.
He's got great acceleration once he gets to the line of scrimmage.
Yes he is.
Got that Glide gear as we call it that.
Mention this, but kind of like o.j.
Simpson, the way he used the Glide, so close to the ground, reminisce of a Herschel Walker, also, as well.
Fourth down Tom.
Yep, Robertson.
Did he lie?
It's gonna be close.
Ali cut up in there, tough.
Wesleyan defense is playing lights out.
You know, the word Shani Lee had a game earlier in the playoffs where he really didn't get anything done in the first half goes for four touchdowns in the second half, he really warms up a lot of good backs.
Do that bow.
As you all know you've seen through the years, the more that caring at the better they get.
Oh yeah.
First down ECI.
That second effort, got it in there for a lot of people made the trip from South Georgia.
You heard that ECI Roar go up.
They've got a big crowd here.
As that's Wesley.
ECI down now at the 38 first down 10, Quick trap right up the middle first, man through blood.
Turn it going back.
Now to his base offense, that's what he told me.
They were going to do.
Thats the way they were going to attack.
Straight ahead right at you.
Tyrone Johnson.
I'm a Carrie.
Dan was for second down and six.
Robertson looks over a 5-man front.
There's easily another spin move first down.
Bulldogs down at the 24 Leigh.
Ellis made the stop in the secondary really inefficient runaway.
Watch this to the left side.
Again, he sees daylight, and there's the spin, then he's going to set up another tack low.
But that Tech low did a good job too.
Nice, spin moves spin.
Move number one.
Number two, at tackled by Ellis.
Good tackle in the open field.
Give to the first man, through, once more Tyrone Johnson, the sophomore at fullback straight ahead.
Again, I think coach Turner might have thought they did some things they could do to cross up Wesleyan early in this game and show them some plays.
They were formations, they haven't really seen before.
Now he's going back to the way ECR plays football.
He goes back to base stuff.
Ring, left formation, quick crap to Johnson, once more, Tyrone Johnson.
Obviously he's going to make them on Earth at fullback lead.
Yeah, right numbers.
A quick hitter.
And last three plays have all been straight ahead.
In between the tackles Colton, on the tackle, third down, and about five and a half, by the way.
If you look at the left guard for ECI linear, he's 63 310.
And can go bear hunting with a switch Wing left formation.
The give is to Ely Excellent defense by Wesley and what's more?
They're really getting busy.
Upfront, Merit Hall the linebacker, really jumped up in there and mentally early on in the carry, they are doing a good job in this maybe time after five.
Play Straight Ahead for a coach Turner maybe to pull out one of those wrinkles here on the 19 yard line.
And and Tom, we talked about the pitch earlier that pitch will go now, I think they're loading it up.
Yeah.
What Out of two and fourth down conversions for easy.
I Man in Motion, give is to Ali, I believe.
I think he got it again.
That was not a lie down that is that was Brooks Kirkland on the carry Healy.
Let him up in there.
Ely with the block.
First down once more.
So there are two out of three fourth down, conversions that's living on the edge as you roll it live.
Not the place Milan.
Turner wants them to stay trust me.
Robertson going to give on a quick hitter right at the middle to the fullback Johnson wants more.
Something's going to happen here.
Play-calling wise.
You see here's a quick hitter right here.
Yeah and great eyes once again, just bouncing outside behind that lead block.
They're obviously setting up something with the full-back lead.
As I said, though, both you don't just keep going to the well with that one that was, you know, linear out front the six, three, three hundred ten pounder.
I don't want to be a little D be looking at that.
I don't either.
Delia in the flat incomplete through it a little bit behind him handing out there.
Yeah, an amount.
You had to lead them yet to put the ball outside.
We knew the wrinkle coming Leigh, Ellis, on the cover.
We've played one at the Georgia, Dome Wesleyan 7.
We're back of the Georgia Dome, where the Wesleyan Loop wolves lead.
The Emanuel County Institute, Bulldogs are down there knocking on the door.
At the 13 yard line.
He see, I've been showing their Brawn and their power and Wesley has done an admirable job of stopping the banana.
They seem to be feeling their way with the power game.
Robertson brings them up.
Healy and Johnson behind him going to run a quick toss to Ely.
Not a lot there.
He gets down to the 12 yard line.
Just tough blocking scheme out there in the right hand side.
A couple of guys missed their blanc's fithian with the initial stop.
Here we are at 4th down once more bow.
It's amazing.
They do live on the edge, fourth and five.
Deep snap to the quarterback.
And then convert yet another little bit of West man's medicine.
They had 4 wives, they opened the field, they spread the field, you can't see them ever this, two wides, right.
Two wives left.
And that brought everybody from the secondary out to the perimeter and is able to run it up.
Robertson for the first down.
First and goal.
Now from the three Garrison, on the stock for Wesleyan.
The give is to Robertson.
Well down here, smelling it.
Now got a tie.
This up, they went on that.
This has been a great Drive Tommy, and we mentioned earlier, the manual County Institute, this three fourth down conversions on this drive And that is dangerous.
There really is scary.
Yeah, Power.
I formation now.
Robertson sends a Man in Motion a lie, touchdown Herschel Walker.
Look there over the top.
What Sean Healey from two yards out, flop with a great lead block there, he lay up over the top.
Hell no, I think he changed his mind about leaping and then saw the opening to his left and wanted to get his feet on the ground quickly.
Flat well attempt the point from placement high snap, punched Well Lou groza Straight Ahead kicker.
Straight Ahead Wesley and 7e C i7 nice drive and a short plunge by was Shawnee Lee who's done that a few times in his career I guess so yeah he's over 135 touchdowns in his career, brahe's the state of Georgia, touchdown leader.
136 touchdowns I talked with Coach Turner earlier before the game, 19 plays 60 yards eight-minute drive that they like those kind of drives a TCI.
He said, what Shawn had been playing for the last couple of weeks at about 80 to 85%.
Yeah, just those nagging injuries when you play 14 games.
It was no nagging injuries today.
Now these kids came into the Dome.
They were wild-eyed wide-eyed wild-eyed.
They love performing here.
Dexter Modi will kick it off for ECI.
Picked up at the 20-yard line break at a angle and another down to the 44 yard line.
Anderson Porter, here it is.
Right up the middle, just got a great blocking on on the part of ECI on the kickoff, return Anderson for on their return.
First down 10, great field position.
Now for Emmanuel, rather for Wesleyan.
wide receiver to the left slot to the right deep snap complete I don't think he's throwing a bed bold yet.
He hasn't, you know, he everything is catch boy.
Everything is right where it's supposed to be Cardwell the tide in on the catch Sanford.
On the tackle, second down, and seven.
Now, 646 270 a 21-yard?
Yeah, I want touchdown.
Wide slot to the left single receiver to the top.
Gonna move the tide in over.
Give to the tail back of the yard.
Current policy goes the distance.
They were talking about him.
They say, you're going to be surprised by this sophomore and he really is, he boy.
He was quick.
He had another gear Tom 41 yards and it didn't take long to get him.
They're both really did Grand away from DC.
I secondary here it comes again.
There is the wincle corner.
Great blocking up front.
Yeah, baby right on target Spencer short to attempt the point from placement.
It's up and it's good.
So Wesley at that goes on top Wesley and 14 ECI 7.
Let's take another look at it cripple.
This protect the ball is, well, schooled, as he goes through the line, and now opens it up.
As he extends his stride, now, ECI is got to go back on another one of those long drives, Hopefully we're out the Westland defense and keep Pace with Westland crepitus.
Really showed a burst of speed there short scoring drive there to plays 44 yards, less than a minute 54 seconds.
Kind of drives you like yeah, Tommy.
He's also a great baseball player.
Yeah, it's home.
He's really got a future in baseball as well.
All right.
Now, let's see what we're gonna do here.
Bo Wesleyan gonna kick it off.
Healy deep to receive in the middle back at about the 10.
Short kick Ely at The A-Team.
Up to the 34 yard line.
Now let's go down to the sideline and Lisa Wiese.
He talked about Kyla, what a great back he is, and it's ironic how he got his start in last year's homecoming game.
His older brother.
Matt, got injured.
So he got the call one in the game and he scored a touchdown and gentlemen, the rest is history and he's pretty much been starting ever since first down, 10 ECI from the 34 yard line.
Thank you Lisa.
Yeah and they're back to their style.
Now they're going to try to wear out the defense as they marched down the field.
Try to keep pace and to Lisa's Point sometimes, all you need is a shot sometimes, all you need is a chance.
That's all right, second down and two, Moody on the original play, gain of a couple.
Second down and nine shorts lat Roberson.
Going to run the option very little there.
That Wesleyan defense wasn't biting on that one.
They saw that coming came up made the big hit Leigh Ellis on the stop dextra Moody on the carry third down and seven.
The Wesleyan defense has really been very active up front.
Yeah, they're.
They're going to couple of big hombre.
He's up there too.
It's not just ECI with the big guys.
The quick trap to Ely up across the 40 far, short of the first down, Bobby Fulton on the stop there, for Wesleyan, Wesley is good to 300-pound, tackles defensive, tackles and a 270-pound nose guard, fourth down and four.
For E CI, Dexter Moody, drops back deep in punt formation.
Time out ECI.
You see, I going to call time out there.
So far Wesleyan with the big play to very big plays for Touchdown the 23-yard toss and then the quick Tramp up the middle though.
Earlier this week, the Georgia Dome on the Atlanta Falcons football team proudly honored, the GHSA with the unveiling of the Georgia, High School Association, football helmet display.
This expansive display includes football helmets from GHSA Affiliated, high school, football teams from around the state.
The display is located at Lower Gate C. Be sure to check it out the next time, you're at the Dome.
I didn't even know about that.
That's great.
It is great thing of beauty, fourth down.
And for now, Booty.
Back at his 26.
The kick it away.
Low snap.
Left-footer on driving kick.
Back at the 13 where Bobby Worthington gets it on the return and knocked down to the bat.
The 23 yard line by D. Andre Williams, a freshman on the kick cover team will guide slow getting up slowly.
Just a little bit of a situation where you how kick you coverage that was such a good punt.
Excellent fun.
Cory Ellison, the injured player.
First down and 10 up at the 24 for West Linn.
They had some big plays strong side.
Now, the right side of the field.
Quarterback looking incomplete.
It's 39 Worthington, the intended receiver Tommy this immediate College pass route right there, drive the corner off and then come back.
That's the toughest one to throw for a quarterback as well.
It's a long throw.
It is, it is Class a state championship from the Georgia Dome so far.
It's been all we could expect.
But yeah, I think so.
Second down, and ten.
Now both schools true to their style.
Exactly.
Brent, here, the wide receiver, the left wide slot to the right Welton, dropping the throw, got a man out there that was that was close.
Well, that's the problem with going.
You know, throwing the Deep out is that the quarterback has a chance to make a break on the ball?
And that would have been seven.
The other way Brooks Kirkland on the cover.
It's okay to throw it but you gotta throw it quickly.
Obviously, Kirkland, reading welton's eyes and that one third down and 10.
He'll he'll see that play for the next 30 years.
Oh, yeah.
He'll in a plane that oh, if I only have I own big crowd in the dome, you're nothing but Green Turf in front of me.
Connor Welton, dropping the throw.
No pressure.
Bounced around intercepted, and fumbled and fumbled who got it.
Gary and Moody got the interception.
I think Marc Bloch was in the neighborhood.
Well that's just what he see I needed and I guess he'll you see Welton looking maybe telegraphed it a little bit interception by Moody tipped it down, it goes got it back.
Yeah he got it back, he got it back like he wanted that sandwich back again first down and 10 from the 43 CI.
Robertson.
Going to give on the Sprint draw to Ely down to the 36.
Tommy.
I'm sure that the ECI probably thought they were old that one, Barrett Hall.
Mama stop.
I'm sure they did after bouncing the ball around two or three times and couple mystery.
Close this thing that earlier interception which would have been a pick six gain of four by Ellie second down and six.
Wide slot left wide receiver ride, Robertson takes it to Ely.
Ely pitches to Moody long-lost back at the 49 loss of about 25 Leigh, Ellis on the stop for weslia.
I'm really don't think Moody saw the ball.
Let's look We're too far out in front of him, Tommy, right?
I think he thought he had the ball.
I think he thought there were probably going to run a few more yards and Wesley and got pressure on the quarterback third and very long 21 to be exact.
Robertson looks over a three-man front, they're going to run the middle screen up to the 49 of Wesleyan.
Good call with Cole makes sense.
And it's obviously see II think that's not one of them bread and butter plays.
Because it looked like some guys didn't know where to go who to block on that play, fourth and 20 now at Midfield.
Dexter Moody deep to kick it away.
Back at his 36-yard line.
Worthington deep to receive blocked.
Picked up by Ely.
Well, be right back.
Time out on the field will be back.
Momentum momentum, momentum and Wesley and just got a good dose of it with the blocked punt.
Wesleyan 14, Emmanuel County, 7 luteum, fine left side Kyle Karin Palace and he almost got the first punt just prior to this that time he got a timed it up.
Exactly?
Right.
34 yard line.
And when you're playing with a lead and a short field That gives you a lot of momentum, my friend, as you well know, though.
Yeah.
All right.
The Wolves up at the 34 clock in their favor, leading 6:46.
Weldon.
Brings them up deep.
I formation going to send a Man in Motion going to run the same play they scored on before.
Yeah, counter trap.
Yeah, they look like ECI on that play.
Mark flot makes the stop.
That was corrupt Willis, he was all over the field.
Yes.
Real Workman like second down and eight now for Wesleyan at the 32 and quite honestly, they're in no hurry.
They're going to run, they can.
Yeah.
In fact I was looking at the play clock to see how close they were Welton sends a Man in Motion going to give it to Karin Palace, who cuts inside the 30 down to about the 28-yard line slot the linebacker.
Once more made the stop, we've called his name a lot, till we sure have these playing a great game, but they're trying to do is get the linebackers to move with that Crossing action.
And then come back against the grain, third down and five for Wesleyan down inside the 10.
D are down, inside the 30, down to the 29 yard line.
Milan Turner pulling at his defense, a lot of concern on the EC side of the ECI side of the field.
I'm sure.
Welton.
Throwing out of bounds to Bobby Worthington.
It was for whites that time Tommy and the outside receiver took his men deep clearing out that side of the field.
And then there was up to a safety to keep up with the wide receiver.
Moody was there, but a little late.
As Worthington goes out of bounds, here's another look at it, Welton whips that ball threw it in the right place.
Down low as well.
Dobson Worthington is senior.
Yeah.
First down 10, welded brings them up.
You see on a five man front.
Well Tim throws screen down inside the 14-yard line to Leigh Ellis, and he had a couple of options on that play Tommy.
There was couple of places he could have gone.
Yeah, there are you moody on the stop for ECI?
This passing game for Wesley has really accomplished timeout, watching cut inside their second timeout of the half.
He actually could have cut back across the other way.
You didn't have a couple of options there, gain of eight on the play, second down, and about to Wesleyan has got two timeouts.
Remaining easy, I has one in the Hat.
We need viewers.

They came just a short bus ride from Norcross where Wesley and situated EC.
I came into town yesterday morning at a walkthrough of the Dome and then came in about an hour before the game today Welton down at the 13 second and short gives to the first man through I believe that was corrupted us.
And Ellison on the stop.
No gain on the play bow.
No, no gain.
And as we mentioned, maybe they should go back to that finesse scheme and spread the field.
Come back with those for wides.
Because they're really good at that.
Very good.
Third down conversions, Wesley, and two of three Emmanuel County Institute, one of seven.
Welton.
Going to call timeout here.
Well, you get down here in the Red Zone.
You don't want to make any mistakes time of you, so rare that you get back Westland.
That's their second timeout of the half.
They've got one left as does he see, I hear and time on their side down there at the 12-yard line, boat Wesleyan has been more methodical on this drive than the prior drives.
They had the big two big plays, but they've been very methodical a short passing game in this one and Using a lot of the clock as well as Franklin Pridgen with his Club.
Here's coach, Franklin, Pridgen on.
What's special about his team this year?
I think, in 2008, Wesson football has really taken a cue from nine outstanding seniors.
They are very close-knit group, one of our smaller, senior classes, actually comparatively.
But they just love to play together.
And I think that kind of feeling is sort of permeated through the rest of our program and rest of our team.
And these guys really are devoted to one another that they voted to support, cause greater than themselves.
Cells and they really just enjoy being together and that kind of a Synergy and that kind of Devotion to each other has been very special.
Very special team, 14-7, third down to ball at the 12.
Welded dropping, the throw, Rudy on the blitz, got him down at the 21.
Tommy great coverage in the port of ECI and well really had no place to go with the ball.
Great pass rush and excellent coverage in the secondary Moody with the blitz at the right time.
Here it is right here, this for wides out there.
And look at that doing a great job of just coming off the the Just off the corner.
And we're gonna get a field goal attempt here which is going to be a 27 yarder.
Spencer's short will kick Drew 50 and to hold good snap good.
Hold hit the crossbar or hit the upright with the upright and he'll see that for the next 30 Years.
Yes, he will.
Yes, he will.
He will say things like you won't believe how close it came.
There's the ECI faithful and a good contingent from South Georgia.
Yes.
First and Ten.
Now, for ECI time of factor 121 left in the half Wesley, and leading 6:46 on the course, Wesley and deferred to the second half.
So you would imagine, they take the ball in the second half, not trying to second-guess anybody.
Michael.
Robertson on the carry up across the 21 are the 22 up close to the 22 yard line.
They were in the typical power.
Formation.
I thought they'd be with 120 to go in the half.
Maybe come with something there.
And try to sneak something past Wesleyan.
Marriage Hall on the stop game was a couple shorts.
Lots of the right Robertson.
Gives once more to Moody across the left side, gain of a couple townie, get the Gatorade ready, because this Wesleyan defensive front is going to need to refresh themselves at halftime.
They're really taking a beating for kids are really tough and making plays.
Yeah, third down and six.
Now up at the 24, Whoa, they give is to Ely who was met in the backfield.
It was kind of wrestling.
Puts a sophomore timeout.
Westland Wesleyan stuff.
So you have CI on a fourth down situation yet again, we'll get a little an injury.
And that's a lie.
Oh my goodness.
And as we told you, he had been playing the last couple of weeks at 80%.
You see how heavy that tape is?
Yeah, According to coach Turner and our conversation, he'd been dealing with ankle injuries in nagging back injuries.
What is a little better now?
Yeah he's a Workhorse.
Moody back to kick once more but not corrupt.
Police.
Coming off the edge, almost got it again.
Out of bounds.
That time it was Drew Carroll with the pressure on the punt.
Yeah a lot of pressure on the putts every time.
Yeah.
Maybe the toughest thing to learn as a high school football player and you just don't get enough time in high school to teach special teams the way you want to write.
At the 40 45 yard line final play of the half coming up here, barring a penalty.
And Wesley, and got to take a knee.
Great have Tom.
Yeah, 6:46 Wesleyan over AC is the half.
An EC is done some remarkable things in the second half of games all year long.
Don't forget, they have not lost.
Since November of 2006, that is correct.
Let's go down to the sidelines and Lisa wheeze.
Lisa coach bridge in your teams.
Defensively has done a tremendous job, keeping he cir The End Zone.
What are you gonna tell them to continue to do the second half?
Well, A war upfront.
Lisa.
I mean, at the trenches, I don't know if it translates the TV, but we got kids in white and red, they were just killing each other up there.
I'm really proud of our guys, we can't simulate their speed but we're getting used to it.
We just got to keep doing.
We're doing to make a few minor alignment adjustments to keep them off balance but we'll see what happens.
We like it so far.
Thank you so much coach.
Good luck to you the second half.
Thank you gentlemen, back up to you.
Thanks Lisa.
We are at halftime Wesley and 14 ECI will be back of the Dome with more after this.
This, we're back at the Georgia Dome, where the Wesleyan wolves lead.
The Emanuel County Institute, Bulldogs, 14 to 7 at the half.
Let's go down to the field and enjoy the Wesleyan, marching wolves under the direction of Jeff faster.
And drum, major Rachel Duane Let's go down to the sidelines.
Lisa wheeze with Zach young Headmaster of Wesleyan.
Thanks gentlemen, with me is a kyung, the Headmaster of Wesleyan, high school and how exciting is this what has it been like around campus and in the community with Wesley and making here to the Georgia Dome for the first time ever.
Oh, Lisa, you know, we are K through 12 school and so the excitement permeates all the way down to the kindergarteners.
And we had a pep rally yesterday afternoon, where we got everybody into the gym, the lower school, the middle school, and the high school.
And I believe the most noise was made by the lower school in the middle school, and it was just Electric Everybody is so thrilled to be here?
You can't imagine what it's like for a little school, like ours to get this far, and to be playing in this venue.
I know your school has done incredible athletically.
You've Won several state championships in other sports, but there is also more of your school.
Then just Athletics, there.
Sure is.
More of the things about which were the most proud is, the our missions program, which began about eight years ago.
And we're sending over 200 children, and teachers to on 8 mission trips during spring vacation.
We don't allow any kind of athletic trips during spring vacation because we hold the schedule, open completely to allow everybody who wants to to go on this mission trips.
And we even schedule our spring vacation.
So, that's after the basketball season is over.
In case we go to the finals of the basketball season.
So the basketball players can go and we're going to places like the Ukraine and Romania to Guatemala to the Southeast coast of the United States.
It's one of the most remarkable things as happened in school.
Thank you so much and thank you for your Taemin go wolf, gentlemen, back up to you.
Thanks Lisa, we are at halftime Wesleyan.
14 Lisi is 7, will be back at the Georgia Dome with more action.
We are back at the Georgia Dome where it's halftime, Wesley and leading ECI 6:46.
Now, down on the field, the Emanuel County Institute, marching band, The Spirit of the dogs Bandit.
Actor is James McBride.
The drum major is Gabrielle Collins band, members 55, and their performance title will be the Aretha Franklin standard think.
The spirit of the dogs.
Let's go down to Scott Kozlowski.
Scott, thank you very much, Tommy.
Now, I'm joined by the principle of Emanuel County Institute.
This is boy to English mr. English tell me what you thought of the first half of football.
So you want a very close game hard-fought game between to good schools, lot of history, great coaching, staffs and and find kids who are very hard-fought game.
I was hoping it'd be 14-7 the other way.
Way.
But I know our coaches have it under control for the Sega half and we'll have a good second half as well.
Well, his boat was saying earlier, your team has not lost since November of 06.
What is this success meant for your community in your fans?
Well, I'll tell you what, Scott.
All you have to do is look in the stands and we have an unbelievable Community.
It's just brought a sense of Pride, and spirit to our community of Twin City and the surrounding area of manual County.
We have a fine coaching staff, Great Men, coached Turner and his staff for fine, Christian men and do an awesome job with our young people back there, 29.
And oh, I always say 39 in one over the last three years and we're hoping this going to go 40 and one after today.
Well, I was talking to yesterday.
Let's talk a little bit about the academics at UCI.
It's a little different because your sixth grade through 12, there, tell me what's different about that.
Well, we have the opportunity to be around the kids and Get to know them from grade 6 through 12, presents, its challenges.
But I think the opportunities far outweigh the challenges, we have the kids in middle school and they have the op.
We have the opportunity to get to know them and know what their strengths and weaknesses are.
By the time they get to high school and grades 9 through 12, we're real proud.
I think the success that we see on the football field with Coach Turner and his staff is equaled in the in the school with with our Our teachers, find staff and just great young men and women that we get an opportunity to teach every day and get to know one, a daily basis or principal English.
Thank you very much for joining us and good luck to your team in the second half.
Tommy boat back to you.
Thanks a lot Scott.
Now, let's take a look at the first half highlights.
Vo.
Yeah.
It was a lot of highlights in the first half and here's kind of Welton than these gets the pitch to Grepolis there and they make some big yardage out of that.
That was that gross?
As cut pitch that you were joking about Tommy.
Now he's kind of Welcome again and he's going to enderson, Porter, you'll in the back of the end zone.
So you know he was really sharp was wilting in the first half.
Here we come with Michael Robertson and just a few quarterback keeper and then to Ali who's diving over the top for the touchdown.
And now we come back with their bread and butter, which is the power play time.
And here was the big play of the first half, currently this here on the counter trap, right up the middle burst of speed, which puts Wesley and up after the extra point 6:46.
And here's where was, Sean?
Ely got injured and his status is not known at this time, we'll get his frustration because he's had some big games in the second half old year long and the stats.
All right, rush yards 41 for Wesley.
110 for ECI passing yardage 88 for Wesley and only one yard for a CI total yards.
Picture 129 111 third down conversions 2 out of 4 and 1 out of 8.
Fourth down, conversions Wesleyan didn't have that problem EC, I made three out of five time of possession.
Wesleyan has made quick work of the time.
They've had them all eight minutes 18 seconds, 14 points, PCI with seven points in 15 minutes and 42 seconds.
All right, let's go back down to the field to Scott Kozlowski.
Scott, thank you very much, guys.
Coach, would you tell your team at halftime?
Well, it's all done.
We still got 24 minutes of football to play, you're down by seven points.
We've been in this position before.
I've seen plenty of teams up by 28 and lose and teams down by 28 and win.
So we just got to get it together and make plays on offense and defense and eliminate the mistakes and just got to get out there and scratch claw and fight.
You want to win the title, he got 24 minutes to do it just before the half was Sean.
Was roughed up a little bit.
He was limping off the field.
How is he?
He's just, he's beat up.
He's being jammed up for about three or four weeks, but he's a warrior, you know, he's going to come out here in the second half and give it a go and see how he can do.
And we got other guys who can get the job done, I told him in there, you know, there's no one guy that wins the title.
It's a team sport, it takes everybody.
And if we're gonna win, we got to play together, all right.
Coach.
Best of luck in the second half.
Back to you guys.
Thanks Scott.
We are at half Wesley at 14.
EC is seven get ready for the second half kickoff.
A up next from the Georgia Dome.
We're back of the Georgia Dome Wesley and leading as we head into the second half for teens is 7.
That's pretty impressive mask guy right there.
Yeah, Dexter.
Moody will kick it off.
To begin the second half.
Deep to receive death and Stanton and Bobby Worthington for Wesleyan.
So the deferring to the second half.
Even though they won the toss, they deferred to the second half.
Helps them immensely here, Moody's kick a line Drive.
Worthington at the 11, got a block of the point of attack.
Breaks the tackle up to the 41 yard line, boy.
Isn't that typical Westland?
They won't got these Nifty little quick moves and they're tough to bring down.
I'm telling you, they are playing inspired football by the way.
That was a great story about their missionary program.
Oh yes.
And they take all those kids to a different country, see a different culture, Wesleyan, seven plays, 71 yards, a touchdown to plays 44 yards a touchdown, Three plays and interception, seven plays the way the missed field goal off the top of the uprights and then one play and the half.
Good use of eight minutes and 18 seconds.
Korean palace on the counter trap up to the 40 but I was helpless in one of the first in to make the stop when I was in high school.
If I wanted to go anywhere, they told me to take the subway, what?
Exactly a better scenario for you, Wesley.
Last was a yard second down and 11.
I'm sure they probably would have enjoyed you going somewhere else.
At the 40 second down and 11.
Now for Wesleyan.
Welton.
Takes the snap gonna run, got to be caught and thrown for a loss.
Rob's lat, the backer made the stop.
I think that's the first thing we've seen Welton with the keeper.
And you see how fast that tcid fences when they went wide like that?
We haven't seen that.
He was Wesley is mostly like EC is been running right at them by the way, that's Mark.
Flock Ron flautas is dead.
Who is a coach on the sidelines?
Flight with an excellent move down the line of scrimmage, obviously, some adjustments by the ECI defense at halftime.
Third down and 13 shorts.
Lot to the short side of the field one wide.
Receiver way to the left.
Welton dropping the throw looking throwing Under Pressure.
He had to Get rid of it.
Sort of a little bit behind the receiver, but that was again.
Great pressure by ECI, you're right.
They Tommy, they're coming out with some new looks and the rejuvinated on defense 44, Cory Ellison on the head heavy pressure.
Those crumpled with cutting across the middle.
Fourth down and 13, good snap a lot of time, fairly good cakes, gonna get an easy.
I balance now, Wesleyan is gonna touch it down at the 35 yard line DC.
I will take over there.
Get dental like a wedge kick, like a sand wedge.
We want direction for Wesley.
Yeah, Class a state championship from the Georgia Dome.
Nice to have you along with us on this wonderful Saturday afternoon first down and ten from the 36 Parisi.
I guess who's back in there folks?
With Shaunie Lee.
Robertson.
Hands to Moody Dexter booty up to near the 39 yard line Devon Stanton Cole Watson on the stop for Wesley gain was five second down and five now.
Well Sean Healey just got two more rolls of tape by that ankle I guess and yeah okay Coach put me in I'm ready.
You have to honor and even if they don't hand me the ball, the thought of him, giving him the ball has to help and to give is right up the middle to Tyrone.
Johnson a sophomore.
He's up close to the first down.
I think he's got a tongue.
Bobby Fulton on the stop.
It is a first down.
Yes.
And that was a quick dive and then they use the Ali as a decoy.
He's here's the dive and then see, Ely going to the right of your screen to the left of your screen, right?
And as coachable, and Turner said, we have others who could do the job First down 10, Bulldogs up at the 48.
Robertson rolling, the throw in trouble.
Fumble, Picked up by Garrison.
Touchdown Wesleyan 39 yard fumble return, welder Garrison.
Yeah, they see that's just not what he CI does.
They don't want to throw the ball and but they thought they could catch Wesleyan on first down and have them not looking for that, but the receiver that went deep, you won't be able to same here.
So, he just actually dropped that football Under Pressure.
Merritt Hall created a lot of Havoc back there.
Obviously wets Wesleyan was in a blitz at that time because Robertson, by the time he rolled to throw, he had trouble extra point kick.
No good off to the left obviously.
Well, that was really something Carter Garrison, 39 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.
He'll remember that one for a long time.
So about 40 years, Yeah.
In the third quarter, 848 or 848 left in the third quarter.
Now, e CI is got to go back to work.
Wesleyan with a fumble recovery there and they come out, we see, I came out, looking good, looking fresh on defense and I think, coach turn adjust the side.
Maybe we can get one here, maybe we can catch them napping.
But the receiver that went deep was Blanketed by the Wesleyan defendant, right?
Wesleyan will kick it off.
Now Will Ferrell to kick it away?
Robertson and Moody deep for ECI.
At the 20, breaks a tackle up to the 27 yard line, boy, they really had the wedge shaped up and look like that was going to break for some big yardage Dexter Moody on the return.
Bobby Fulton on the stop.
First down 10.
Michael Robertson brings them out.
first man through Tyrone Johnson, that sophomore Tell me, I think that's where they've gotten the most yards to sift.
It was with those quick hitters and running between the tackles Barrett Hall on the stop for Wesley and gain of nine on the play, the second and a short one, their bow.
You've still got a quarter and a half.
You got to come back.
You got to play your game, plenty of time.
There's Ali breaking tackles first down and more up across.
The 44 yard line.
Yeah Ben Staunton made the stop for Wesleyan.
Every time he makes a cut you wince.
That's got a really hurt it does.
You can see it stayed on?
I can't be on a write-up.
Yeah the one that's heard will see any planted that planted on the right foot.
He is a fine High School.
Run it back?
No doubt.
14.
Rushes 57 yards 1 touchdown.
There it is again, the quick track right up the middle.
Tyrone Johnson on the carry Bobby Fulton again on the stop PCI.
Has obviously taken the opinion that they're going to make them stop that quick trap.
Yes, with the lead fullback.
And that's really what they do best.
Yeah.
And that's, you know, going behind the 300-pounder, he can play nice-looking line of scrimmage on.
All sides all here.
You heard coach Britain say they were really going to war both lines of scrimmage?
Inside crap fly practice into Wesley and territory down at the 49 yard line Mark flawed on the carry Carter Garrison on the stop for Wesleyan, misdirection type of plane, I think you will with Western its quickness.
When you do that, you give them a chance to make a play as opposed to that.
Straight ahead.
Football behind the 300-pounders boy.
That's close hand-to-hand combat down in there.
It now, sure is Out on the carry and then lips off.
Wearing set to give is to Ely going to try to get outside and does he got the first down?
Look at this effort after second effort by this guy.
Well, this is just, this is amazing.
The way he left the field in the first half to see, make that turn at the corner and Tommy you have his ankle wasn't gimpy.
That's one of the plays that would have gone.
Yeah, he would make one more sharp move outside quick move and take it to the house.
Look at him on the corner here.
See that.
Yeah, just bullying bullying.
His way quilling himself to get the first down at the 47.
Where's the gravity gun?
Yeah.
Johnson.
Fumble on the play.
And Wesleyan has recovered Leigh Ellis.
Whoo, whistling recovery, Ellis on the recovery.
We're at the Georgia Dome class, a state championship Wesleyan, 20 e CI 7.
Let's take a timeout or action in the moment.
We are back and he's the eye has certainly had the ball.
Bounce the wrong way on him the second half but only it's really important for them.
They shot themselves in the foot, had the interception, then had the punt blocked and they had the ball fumbled and go the other way for a touchdown.
And now we Alice recovers a fumble by Johnson.
At the 44-yard line Wesleyan back in business, again with a 13-point lead.
I'm formation.
Insolent hit that time.
Here's that ECI defense again.
I don't know what happened at halftime Tom, but these guys really came out looking for some action.
Second down and 10.
That was a welcome committee at the line of scrimmage.
Arrived on time in a bad mood.
Would you say boo?
Oh boy bringing the lumber second down and ten now Wesleyan at the 44 Welton took her impetus breaks a tackle and another down to the 38 yard line.
Caught the ball, right off the carpet, when all the way down to get it and then it's got the moves after reminds me of a billy Burns, who was at wall, nice cool.
Last year played the same positions at the same lickety-split, quickness.
17-yard gain on the play.
Current Palace making All the Right Moves turning inside post a bulldog's pulling down.
One of those Chris Gordon first down and ten.
Now for Wesleyan Welton W. Lot left short slot, right?
Single setback for impetus got a block at the corner again, broke a tackle down to the 26, but when we take a look at this, you'll see the left side of the defensive front being Stymied, remove the Sanford on the stop.
The interesting thing about this is the way they spread them out across the field and run to the weak side, see that?
Look at that job, that double-teaming left side of the line.
And then a nice move by corrupt Alice 6:40, Wesley and ask the Georgia, Dome, and the class a state championship.

Gpb.org/sports ball, boom.
Everything we expected just more mistakes than we expected.
Well, it was according to form, we knew what each team was going to be.
Like, we know they're playing personality but if he see I can make something happen and get a score before the sport is over will be one.
Heck of a full-court?
Oh yeah.
Welton.
Gonna run the Trap.
Parental us at the corner.
Touchdown career impetus.
Well spread them out, spread them out, and misdirection and 27 yard Scamper Bo great downfield blocking by Daniel Cardwell.
And he had the cornerback just stymied could not get around them.
It was a beautifully designed play.
They gash the defense on that one.
And Welton still in there.
So obviously Wesleyan going for to hear.
Well, they missed the extra point earlier misdirection Korean palace lot of green out there.
His speed is deceiving.
It really is.
He's so quick.
Yeah.
Got the good moves.
Look at this formation and steep backfield.
You got five.
Wides.
Three to the left.
Two to the right.
Welton.
Rolling looking throwing intercepted.
No Good.
In The End Zone.
Didn't have them spread out though bug, do we see ice credit?
Yeah, they did a great job in the answer.
Good defense, good defense, good coverage back there.
But look at this karev Palace.
Misdirection got everybody going to the right with the fake and then comes back with a counter trap.
And that's exactly what it is, folks.
It's a trap.
Well they should give a cripple us a little mini trophy of his own.
But this game, he's playing today, he has playing lights out, no doubt, Wesleyan with the lead and the momentum.
At this point, still a lot of football to play though.
They're going to get nutty in Norcross at this club can hang on.
6:34 437 left in the third quarter, Wesley and the kickoff.
I kick which Moody takes at the eighth and comes back up to the 26, yard line, where Bobby Fulton makes a stop?
We've called his name a lot today, Tuesday.
Yeah, yeah.
And a big shot.
It was for plays 56 yards.
Didn't take long.
Did it?
Don't just one more pill 81.
Yeah.
Crumpled a 17-yard touchdown run.
Pardon a 27-yard.
Touchdown run, first down, 10.
Wing T, Robertson, nice, fake into round 2.
Moody lot of real estate out of bounds up at the 49, lay the ball on his hip very nicely out there.
Just like we haven't seen the lead Rush gross cup taught us.
That was like the old hidden ball trick.
Exactly.
He won't forget that one.
Will you know what's watch the quarterback?
Put the ball on his hip and here we are.
Merry Christmas.
and a little bit above Westlands medicine for you go, their style of football, Dexter Moody on the carry Healy.
Driving forward down to the 47 or 48 yard line, Bobby Fulton again on a stop.
Down in Wesley and territory ill.
He's got a break one.
Get ECI back in the game.
They made a quick one.
Yeah.
Second down six at the 43 Robertson throwing their booty Out of Bounds at the 39.
See that Tommy didn't rush the throw that one.
He just delivered and didn't try to put too much zip on it as he has said earlier in the game.
Yeah, nice throw Devon Stanton, on the coverage and knocking him out of bounds, she You caught that thumbs-up.
He really needed the cash that pinkies up.
Yeah.
Maybe you need to explain that, you either look at it or you catch it opens up, right?
That's right.
Robertson first in 10 Bulldogs down at the 39.
Robertson Under Pressure.
Now, rolling looking throwing or gonna throw?
No, he's not.
He's gonna run Robertson.
Well, he pulled a trigger twice, but never turned it, loose and glue.
Patrick on the stop.
Good.
Run to get something out of it and Robertson's shaken up.
His helmet comes off.
Nice move by him but I thought a couple of times he was going to pull the trigger.
I thought he had an opportunity down field.
Also second down and about four of the game was six.
Healy and Moody.
Now, in the backfield, this might be the Wildcat formation we talked about.
There's Moody got a block at the corner, you can hear that one.
Pretty good up here down at the 30 Leigh, Ellis on the stop.
It will, it's like both coaches said, boat what we've got going on in the trenches down.
There is just pure War.
These guys are really getting after the line of scrimmage.
All these kids are going to be sore on Monday in class nine different players carry the ball.
176, rushing yards for a CI.
Amazing Robertson back in there.
Now, Two wide receivers to the left, one to the right.
And down to the 25 24.
Yard line goes, Ely Devon stand on the stop.
Still 227 to go in the third that gives them a first down right at the 25.
We can safely say they're down there.
Knocking on the door again.
Will it opened this time?
We'll see double slots left and right.
Robertson back in at the quarterback position, short snap Healy.
Assisting with a block Robertson.
Now looking in trouble out of bounds.
Nowhere to go at the 32 Greystone are at home.
Yeah, great coverage in the secondary.
Really had no place to go with it.
And Merit Hall, the linebacker was chasing with him, he was manned up with him and just looking at him eyeball to eyeball.
A any amount of bounds Eve would have if he had his wits about him.
He kept looking and looking looking for somebody to get open, but they lose about eight or nine yards on that play.
If he had thrown it out of bounds, it would have been better off second down and 18.
At the 33.
Three wives to setbacks.
On the other side of Robertson, who's going to run the option and Pitch it to Moody, who broke a tackle booty.
Except that the 16, it stepped out of bounds of the 16th Carter Garrison.
The thing that's so amazing about Moody, when you watch him run, he's a long Strider.
He doesn't look like he's moving, but he really has got those long strides.
You know, this is when you talk about opening it up, which we have with a CI to get back in the game.
This is how they open it up.
They get wide and see if Folks at home notice.
Are the marks are on the field and see the right side of the field.
There's so much room because that's the way.
That's the high school markings right in Falcons play here, tomorrow against Tampa Bay.
I don't know what they're going to do about those markings.
I guess just leave them at this regarding We'll worry about that tomorrow, won't we?
Our producer tells us they're going to change the carpet overnight.
Good to have a couple of those on hand first.
Yeah, first it Ted.
He CI short third-down run.
Booty In Motion, Robertson got a pitch to Ely, got a block at the corner and go out of bounds down at about the 5-yard line.
Tell me, I just get the feeling that he, you know, if he were healthy, he would have planted that foot and darted up inside the tackler.
But here watch this at the corner comes out now and see still gimping.
He would have planted and gone inside that number three, that right foot is the one that had given him a problem.
50 in made the Stop and knocked him out of bounds to gain was nine.
Robertson.
Since Moody and motion yet, again.
Looking and throwing just over booties, hands down near the Falcon emblem.
In the end zone, Leigh Ellis on the cover.
Well you know what, a great throw.
This is the toughest throw in the book to make it with the exception of the deep out, but that is pure finesse and he put the ball right on the money.
Moody, the player down in the end zone to tell me that's a thumbs-up catch.
Yes, it is.
Many of the players participating in these GHSA Championship will be playing in the annual Georgia Athletic.
Coaches association is north-south All-Star Game.
This will be your last chance to see some of Georgia Senior football standouts in high school competition.
This year's event will take place on Monday, December 29 and Memorial Stadium in Columbus, kick off at 2:00.
Robertson for the first down for the Bulldogs old-timey.
Kind of crossbuck action.
Their Merit Hall on the stock.
We played three at the Georgia, Dome Wesleyan 26.
ECI 7, will be back with a fourth and final quarter.
After we take a break here first down and goal ECR from the 4 yard line.
Robertson and Ali in the backfield Wesleyan in a six-man.
Front the pitch to Ely at the corner.
Touchdown was Shawnee lie for yard, run for boy.
Sean Healey could see that coming and there was no pressure from the right side of the Wesleyan defense, everything pinched in instead of going face up, Healy made it to the corner.
And obviously they're going for two here to attempt to make it an 11-point ball game.
Healy.
As the setback Ely.
Might as well.
Yeah, it was a direct snap to Ely instead of fooling around here.
We are.
Here we come.
Get ready, get ready for it.
Merritt Hall made the stop of the end zone.
2, point conversion, good, so easy.
I now pull stupid in Lebanon.
They have us a ballgame here, but these guys know what to do in the second half of all year long.
And as we said, they don't go quietly when you don't lose a game.
Since November of 2006, these guys going to be tough to put away.
I really will.
Here's the TD.
Here comes right here.
That was not the two-point conversion.
That was the TD, that's it.
That was a lie from four yards out and now he's direct snap to wheelie.
It just takes it behind the big blockers and the second surge there by him.
They had him at the one-yard line but he just willed himself into the end of the 51 was Robert Newkirk, 13 plays, 73 yards, time-consuming 435 methodical which is the way they do it.
That's their gift.
That's their game that will go to sleep with so much time to go in the fourth just about Minutes.
We're going to see them get back to their basic Smash Mouth football.
Exactly Moody to kick it off.
Well, tried the on side yet, not get it 10 yards they don't you kick the top of the ball and what you're hoping for there is a big second hop that goes over the top of the first wave.
Yeah Drew 50 and got it at Drew 50 and on the cover Wesleyan 11 minutes, 51 seconds, Emanuel County Institute 24 minutes, 13 seconds, time of possession.
You know there's an old saying that time Possession doesn't mean anything and you sing it right here.
It's what you do with the ball when you have it, right?
The turnovers have been costly.
The give is to Corrine.
Told us who breaks a tackle there too.
And goes down to the 47, yard line, good cold Wesleyan.
Going to try to run a little clock now, but you can't get complacent.
Tom, you've got to pick your spots, and we've got an opening put another score on the board G + 12, carries 93 yards, two touchdowns, three, receptions, for 39 yards, he's had a banner day.
Fun to watch.
Yeah second down and three four wives you got man coverage up in the top it's like man the whole cross and they run the Sprint.
Draw at the 46 trying to pop him out of there again.
The extra booty, the defensive end made the stop, third down, and long.
Third and three, not long third and three at the 46 under 11 minutes.
See in Westland taking all the time.
They can in the Huddle.
No, need to rush here.
No, hurry, no, hurry zci needs to scores, right?
They've got the lead and the ball.
Third down.
Yeah, three receivers to the top.
One to the bottom Welton, takes the Deep snap rolling throwing complete tough.
Tough tough deal.
Rolling to the right and throwing with your left hand.
Yeah, got to get your hips square and get your feet under.
You watch this, Brent?
Few on the Lefty?
Yeah, come see.
Mm square up two receivers in the same vicinity and Pew.
Got it.
And he picked out the right one.
Yes, he did.
First down 10 Ramon, Sanford, on the cover down at the 28th.
10 of 14, 123 yards.
One touchdown, one interception.
It's been a good day for Connor.
Wow, he's fun to watch.
Hopefully, get everybody.
That's Chris Waltons kiddo.
Captain George in 1980?
Yeah, National Championship team at Georgia.
Connor welted breaks, a tackle at the 27-yard line.
And finally, it's blown dead.
So flag on the play.
Dexter Moody on a stop.
The rough stuff going on out there.
Yeah.
Personal foul.
Unnecessary roughness on the defense.
We'll get ready now.
Yeah referee John Kelly umpire Clifton Spears, your linesman is Bernhard Jones line, judges Argent steel back judge, Ralph, jade green jr. Field judge, Deputy clerk Walker, and your electric clock.
Operator is Michael Killian officials from Capital City officials Association.
I'm sorry, it's taken us so long to introduce those officials.
We haven't had a flag all day.
There have been very few plants.
First out of 10.
First, and Ten Wesleyan down at the 13.
Welton going to send the Man in Motion.
Ellis.
Gets the screen goes down at about the 8 yard line.
Brooks Kirkland, makes the stop Ellis on the reception.
Really a well-designed play.
Yeah, the way they kind of flooded that area with receivers, and then what's this?
It's going to come out here and then you don't seem in any kind of ducks behind the defender and and crumpled has yeah.
That was Bobby Worthington.
Not correct to us.
And Ellis on the reception.
Wesleyan.
Going to run the draw again to Karin Palace, Welton, hands to crumple, this down here, the 7-yard line here is Gordon and Dexter Moody on the stop that little kid is a tough hombre.
He's taking a lot of punishment today.
It has not been for the faint of heart on that line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
Third down five.
Corrine Palace and welted in the backfield.
Two wives left two wives to the right.
Welton throws.
The curricula has touchdown.
Touchdown Tom.
You did, you know what's really impressive about Westlands?
Is that downfield blocking?
Yeah, that's always the sign of a well-coached team and and it can we only serve Wiese was talking earlier about this being a family atmosphere with these guys after they lost by one point to Holy Innocence.
They all came together and then a couple of weeks ago, drilled Holy Innocents 6:39 in the in the first round of the playoffs, Spencer's short.
Where the extra point try on good.
It is good Wesleyan, 33 ECI 15.
Here's the scoring play bow.
Here it is right here and you see see the downfield blocking.
That was a Bobby Worthington again and then there's one up at the top of the screen if we can pick him up right there.
Really is.
Um yeah to good blocks down field to tell me.
They've been doing that all afternoon.
Cardwell the tide in was the one in the end zone.
Nothing like blocking seven plays, 53 yards.
That was their longest drive of the day.
I believe at 4:17 as has to be their longest drive of the day.
Took a long time.
Yeah.
It's coach turner.
He's got to figure out something they'll quickly.
Wesleyan to kickoff.
Ely in the middle deep.
Now they're going to try the onside kick, it bounces around and ECI is going to pick it up and be knocked down at the 34 yard line.
That was Ramon Sanford.
Well, we've seen the couple of kickoff tricks from Wesleyan this afternoon and that's because CCI, is so scary with the running game in the return game.
Will Ferrell the tight end?
Kicked it off.
Give me whilst I Rose making movies and playing football to.
I don't think it's the same, it's not the same.
I don't think it's the same one boat first down, 10 e CI from the 34 wing-t, run the blitz boom.
Throws to booty, incomplete out here, the 38 Dairy and Moody the intended receiver.
Robertson getting with it and Drew fithian on the cover.
Well, he was hung out to dry out here.
Yeah, it's Never Never Land out here and probably a good thing.
Watch The Defender coming up.
Boom, he was going to unload.
Yeah.
Gets lonely out there and Never Never Land.
You'll know when you know somebody's coming you're just not sure who are counting the laces on the ball, second down and 10 double slot Robertson throwing complete at the 49 yard line.
Rub on Sanford, on the reception.
Nice throw nice.
Yeah, Robinson.
Really coming on in this game with.
He looked early that he might not be a touch pass over or you just it was too hyped.
Up had too much zip on the ball.
His last three passes have been excellent.
All right, I want to know.
How was that one thumbs up?
Or pinkies up there were said you know what?
I didn't even see.
Okay, I didn't even see Roberts and rolling looking to throw incomplete down at the Seven, Chris Branch.
The intended.
Receiver.
Clock working against ECI.
Still a lot of time though, both a lot of things can happen in the football game.
Sure is get out, you know, I loved one on our broadcast.
So the clock is up at the top of the screen all the time, right?
Robertson.
Avoids, the blitz drops the ball picks it up.
Now, going to be thrown for a loss.
Bobby Fulton once more right in the thick of things back at the 48-yard line, going to be a yard loss on the play.
I was looking there to see if he had hands the size of Mickey Rooney's because he's swept dropped it twice they just come out of his hands.
I think he's just actually in a hurry to get into an open space.
Second down and 11 double slot single setback.
Flot, the setback trying to run the screen.
Nothing there, great, password, yum.
They hit his arm as he was coming forward from the left defensive side.
Fourth down and 11.
Helium Mass lat.
Two wide receivers left and right pressure from the backside, Roberson rolling looking to throw complete but short of the first down at the 45, so the ball will go over now to Wesleyan Chris Branch on the reception, we had to get rid of it with the defender coming from this back side, but I don't know why you would throw a pass like that on fourth down without going past the sticks.
Robertson in deep distress from the backside.
Sure, he could feel something happening back there.
And you look for the first open Jersey.
That's an eligible receiver on terror.
Yeah, first down 10 at the 45.
6:26 left Welton hands to current Palace.
He is something hidden fun to watch.
44 blocking up front.
Just opening, gigantic holes up front.
Just a sophomore in a couple of years.
He'll have a decision to make, but try to stick with football or be one of those guys who sighs weeds and purely the baseball's had a great baseball career to.
Yeah, Corrine told us, 15 carries 106 yards, two touchdowns for receptions for 44 yards, i-formation to wide receiver.
Bruce Grepolis.
Yet again, breaks another tackle, got a block, breaks another tackle.
Good.
You to, and a flag goes down.
Holy cow, Ramon Sanford.
Her ample.
This is just bound and determined today to put on a clinic on how not to follow your blockers.
Watch this, he's an action Jackson type of Runner.
Watch this going to protect the ball coming through the wine.
Arsenal.
Face mask on the defense.
Well it had to be you got to get them down some way.
Man.
He's breaking, tackles following blocks.
24 is made of memory today, for a lot of people.
You'll prior to this he's rushed for over 1700 BC are and 23 touchdowns 1700 plus yards.
It's been a tough day for Coach Mile and Turner but it's not his first time Here's what he likes about coaching me coach and wise his football to me presents an incredible platform for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
It is a tremendous opportunity, not just to reach football players do, but to reach all the kids in our School.
Faculty our community.
What an opportunity we have to not only teach X's and O's not only to educate but to hopefully impact these young men and women women for the gospel an opportunity to hopefully help them become great husbands and fathers and community members.
One day that hopefully, we're leaving something in them greater than football and that when they leave us, they'll take something with them that will last them a lifetime.
And so it's a great honor.
It's a great privilege and it's very exciting and very rewarding, what a nice man, and a good leader, and we're back at the Georgia Dome, where Wesley ends down there, inside the 10, In on the 8-yard line.
line, I daresay there very few football coaches across the state of Georgia.
That has the record that this guy has loyal the last four years, absolutely around the southeast, we have to think about that record.
He's compiled, his genuine and what a great accomplishment for this young school Wesleyan.
Oh yeah.
Be that a team of the caliber of this is that it's absolutely incredible.
There are no losers in this situation of but you do know that as well as I do.
It's painful today, but there are no losers in this situation.
Very little gain on the play.
Second down now, going to be third down, actually a loss on the play there in about eight.
The thing that I like about both Sidelines, they don't quit coaching when they get behind.
Exactly.
Both sides have really coached hard all day long.
If you take a look at the Wesleyan side, is he he's by 18 points.
And you think he was down by 18 taking a look at coach Bridget?
The Far Side for Wesley and over there, they're really coaching and that's what it's all about.
Third down and nine.
Well it's enrolling pressure tucks, it going to be hit breaks a tackle, he may have gotten the first down.
He's got a great feel for it doesn t Tommy.
He does you know he's out there.
He's composed, he's under pressure, doesn't show it now.
He's a little dinged up.
Yeah, Chris Gordon on the stop here.
Watch him here, just surveying the field.
Looking not panicking taking it.
I like the way he moved the ball from his natural left hand to his right hand.
That's good coaching.
Fourth down and one down at the two.
Welton, brings them up.
Possible delay of game took a little time.
Daddy.
Well, you know why it was delayed.
He dropped his mouthpiece and had to go back and get it hot.
He dropped his mouth.
He's at that.
I didn't notice that after he called the play in the huddle.
Now, Wesleyan is going to call timeout to discuss this question.
Kaput some of the gum glue coming up.
Next here, on GPB class, AAA Championship those Karo syrup makers undefeated at 13 and 0 against the Flowery Branch Falcons 12 and to later tonight near 8:00 Peachtree, Ridge, lions at 12 and 2 on 2 year, Camden County Wildcats from down in Camden County, 14, and oh, Jeff Jarrett.
And his team.
The flower evening.

We've got another field goal attempt coming up here.
Spencer short will be given an opportunity to hit the goal post against from here.
Good snap good.
Hold and what wide to the left?
Gave him that opportunity.
Well, you know, we was talking about the high school markings earlier for a field goal that really is a disadvantage because the angles so severe, it is severe.
So easy, I now will take over at the 20 with three minutes and 15 seconds left in the ball game trailing by 18, great great win for Wesleyan, big win for Wesleyan and a heartbreaking loss for ECI 29 in a row.
There's Ali.
Come out of the middle to the 28th.
Doc doctor Swearingen will present the class, A Trophy that will be coming up after the game.
Bobby Fulton on the carry Wade.
Duck to swearengen is holding that it looks like he just wanted.
Robertson dropping the throw.
It's got Moody complete down at the 26.
Robertson brought rain.
Would that one great throw?
Jay?
Russell?
Jay Jay Russell on the carry on the on the cover and the tackle.
We talked about Robertson's passing in the second.
Half has been, you know, that was a beautiful throw.
Healy and Robertson in the backfield.
Four wide receivers Robertson rolling.
The throw got a man out there.
Complete Moody gonna fake twist and turn and be pulled out of bounds down at the 2 yard line.
Cardwell on the stop Ramon.
Sanford on the reception.
I was going to say because of time remaining, it was too bad that he didn't get in, but getting out of bounds of second-best 227 left.
Robertson.
I snap now going to head for the corner and be knocked down short at about the one.
The blocking broke down in a hurry, Drew fithian made the stop for Wesleyan.
Great job on his part to come up and refuse to be blocked and make it happen.
Watch.
Good Pursuit out there.
Boom.
It was getting blocked and fought it off and came up and made the big head.
Lot of green white and gold down.
It is either a again.
Touchdown was Sean, Ely.
That extends, his all-time Georgia touchdown record.
The 138 career touchdowns?
Holy cow.
You know, I think Tom a lot of people around this state, probably thought the DC.
I was a lock you'll to win this class a championship.
Nobody is ever a lock to win a state championship.
What happens on the field are so many turnovers and and so many things that can happen in the kicking game.
Robertson rolling.
Looking to throw plenty of time.
Now going to try to run it and fumbles into the endzone.
Think he might have been over the line.
Was he over the line?
I don't know tough to send this thing up there saying no There is no quit in this e, CI football team just coming.
Right back down the field.
Once more Wesley, 33, ECI 21.
What a great effort by both football team that scored a Garrison right there who came up with the ball in the end zone.
Yeah.
There's Robertson going for two.
That's why that's so close.
Yeah, and Garrison recovers for Wesley head There is a lie with the touchdown.
And he never went down.
He made it a point to know down.
Did you notice that Well, what a great effort on his part with that bed wheel his ankles been hurting for months.
Yeah.
Coach said he's a Workhorse.
That's why I was six plays.
80 yards in the big the big hitter up top pass from Robertson.
Six Blaze, 80 yards, 1 minute 22 seconds.
On the sidekick bounced around.
And I believe Wesley would have gotten.
Yeah, at the 48.
It was clothes had to be scary for the Wesleyan sideline, wouldn't, you think?
Oh, absolutely.
That's Bobby Fulton to coming up with that ball sticking his nose in there and diving in there to get it, because look like EC, I had it 48, yard line.
Obviously it was a great, onside kick, perfect, got that big bounce in the tough to handle ball.
You have to get that right bounce?
You come closer to getting it on this top surface than you would on grass.
First down 10, I formation two wide receivers.
Just a simple isolation and they're going to run clock here, get the current.
Let's go about 46 yards and cap off the scoring for him.
They possibly can Welton and current fellows have had great days, but I don't know if they've had one like today.
They'll remember this would forever.
Well, is it you just a great looking car?
The break, he leads the team, he's composed, he throws a great ball.
I'm formation to give is to the fullback.
Click it coach.
I think he was probably trying to get somebody at Carrie.
Where's coach bridge and what he liked about coaching earlier?
I think I love the relationships, the opportunities that we have at Wesleyan to impact the lives of these young men.
For Christ.
That's a big part of our mission statements who we are first and foremost.
I just love to interact with these guys.
I love to interact with the coaches.
It really is a family at Wesleyan and it's a pleasure to be a part of it.
No, it's bridging from Wesleyan and he's done a wonderful job with this group.
Park roll.
Stop at 17 seconds.
Left DC.
I come out ECI.
Wesleyan, 30, 32 21, / EC.
I I think coach probably trying to get a couple of kids in.
So they'll have this memory forever say they played in the Georgia, state championship game at the Georgia Dome, more action coming up later to bow.
AAA and 5A Championship.
Still, you have to come Wesleyan with two timeouts.
Remaining EC.
I just called their final timeout of the Ballgame with 17 seconds left in this, and this Majid has been a war.
You see coach bridging yelling over there, looking around and the guy he was looking for was, Will Ferrell, I tell you pack them making movies, doing the comedy routine?
Does there He's a good kid.
We've got a great enthusiastic crowd on both sides of the dome in this first ever state championship game in the Georgia Dome, and the crowds been getting bigger all afternoon, John.
Yeah.
Wesleyan to kick it away, Moody deep to receive.
Bounces around and we'll be blown dead at the 16-yard line with eight seconds left in the Ballgame.
You think coach Bridget can can now relax a little bit though?
I don't know.
He might think he CI the way he talked about them before the game has a you know, 8 s 12 point play.
First down 10 e, CI, final play of the Ballgame for coming.
Barring a penalty.
Robertson and flaunt in the backfield for ECI Robertson rolling.
Gets pressure And going to be Contin thrown at the 20, as the game ends.
And Wesleyan.
Is the new state class a football champion.
Well, first law since 2006, coach Turner, and Coach Pridgen to, very nice gentleman with great influence.
Over our young people, shaking each other's hands at Midfield now, the teams of course with Let's go down to the sidelines.
Lisa ways, with the winning head football coach right now is a very excited.
Coach prigent coach.
How exciting is this for your school?
And your team?
It's unbelievable.
When this soaks in, we're going to be even more excited.
I can't believe the way that our kids fought.
I'm so impressed with ECI and their program to beat a team of that quality with a coach.
Like like my Milan Turner is tremendously gratifying but right now we're just we're humbled by the blessings of God right now.
And and I just love this for our kids and our Community.
What can you say about the kids and how they played her today?
Nobody expected you all the way in and here you are everybody on our sideline expected us to win.
We're just thrilled.
Thanks a lot.
Thank you so much coach.
