Why?
From the Make It Center flex.
Since the 2007 GHC State basketball championships, Class Action, a first featuring the landmark Christian Lady Warrior goes at 30 and two taking on the Hopkinsville Lady Red Devils at 27 and three and two.
Good morning, everyone.
I'm Dave Gardner alongside Phil Hansen.
As we get set to crank up day two coverage right here on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
And we do so with class action beginning with the girls.
And Phil, I tell you what, class sometimes gets overshadowed by some of the larger classes at the state of Georgia.
But tell you what, you certainly can't overshadow some of these athletes.
You're right, Dave.
This is not your dad's single-A classification basketball anymore.
I'd say out of the ten starters we have today, five of them or six of them are probably going to go on to play at the next level.
And that's going to be true for the whole single-A classification.
Absolutely.
Let's talk a little bit about this matchup here today.
Of course, Lamar Christian in here as the number one team in the state of Georgia, and they're led by Christian Honeycutt.
Well, she is definitely the straw that stirs the drink.
She can play inside.
Outside has a nice stroke from about six feet when her feet are set.
What I like about her as she controls the game and she dominates the game without dominating the ball.
Absolutely.
Now they only dress out eight players and so they don't have a whole lot of bench there, but they've got a great starting five of them that they really rely on.
And you see Honeycutt there, Diamond Honeycutt, her sister, playing inside as well.
They've got a very talented starting five.
that's definitely a nice one two punch with both the honey cuts.
But I really like Tiffany Hall.
She gives them that slasher player that gives them that lethal three attack system, Joel Christian and Terrell, also two players to watch today.
They're going to look at Jim Waller three times at Woodland Academy, has done a great job in his second year, the landmark.
I just like the way his team plays.
They're so well disciplined.
They play with great passion.
They don't get rattled.
He does a great job with their 212 press a speed up the tempo.
He does a nice job of managing the game.
Absolutely.
Of course, turning the tables, talking a little bit about Hopkinsville, the lady Red Devils in here, they've got a lot of weapons.
They dress out a few more than eight players and they rely on a lot of different folks.
Well, Shovel Lester does a super job with her program.
Also they play with tremendous passion.
And I really like Sierra Dermott.
She is tremendous and what she gives Hopkinsville is that added dimension of it being a post player when she gets a rebound rebound, the break starts and she does a great job in the open floor because your bigs can't match up with her in the open floor.
And when she's got it, it's like having an extra guard on the floor, averaging a double double on the season, as you saw there with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
She will certainly be a force as you see the lineup there here of Collier Roberts, Colson, Alesha Holmes and Sierra du Hart there again, indeed, make up a strong front court right there.
You're talking about Du Hart.
And I tell you what, Holmes and Colson really complement her.
It's almost a three headed monster.
Exactly.
Both teams have a lethal three weapon.
I mean, they both can go at it inside.
Outside.
There's less miss Lester right there.
And she does, like I said, an outstanding job.
If I had a program, she definitely coach for me.
And you see her record right there and has done an excellent job in her time with Hopkinsville there.
The lady Red Devils hoping for a state championship, their first since 2004.
They've won 211 back in 1989 and of course the four championship.
And they look to add another one right here today and it should be a great match up.
We're going to see a lot of great athletes here taking the court against each other in a few minutes.
Well, they both these teams are mirror images of each other.
They both play extremely fast.
Plus, they can go inside and walk it up the floor and play a half court 50 foot game if need be.
I think the team speed, you'd have to give that a check to Hopkinsville.
That's going to be a major factor in the game because I think they can handle the 212 pressure because they've got so much speed.
Plus they have basically five ball handlers right on the floor.
So it looks to be a tremendous matchup in today's game because they're so close.
But a big key in today's game is who can get to the other team's bench first.
And that's going to be a big key because Lamar Christian only shoots up eight.
Let's go to talk about the lady warrior goes road to state.
Of course, they've had an excellent postseason.
AJC defeated Lakeview Academy 52 to 26 and of course, followed that up with a win in round two against Freeman Hepburn.
Christian was up next in the quarterfinals, 4725.
And of course, they beat Savannah Country Day 53 to 42.
So basically, they haven't had a whole lot of test throughout the postseason.
They might get one today against Hopkinsville.
Well, that's Savannah Country Day game scores a little misleading because Savannah was ahead going into halftime, but then Landmark came out with a 17 to 2 run, Hawkins Mills Road to the State finals.
As you see Emmanuel County Institute right there in round one, they beat Seminole County and Calhoun County back to back of it.
Of course, they knocked off the the favorite, if you will, a Southwest Atlanta Christian in the semifinals will definitely be back to the single-A classic with Mariah Chandler.
Was the south west Atlanta Christian one of the best players in the state as a young player.
But Hawkins still did a super job.
Let's go down to the court.
Mr. Eddie Ashley, our announcer with today's reductions.
I know it's No.
Three was supposed to be a rare seven ball, but the ball didn't seem down.
The ball was going, yeah.
So there you have it.
Landmark Christian and Hopkinsville going at it in the girls class.
A state championship is day two.
Coverage gets underway live on GPB.
We're back with the tip in a moment.

Back inside the American Center for Excellence, we get set for class a girls action landmark, Christian taking on Hopkinsville.
Scott Kozlowski is the other member of our crew here today.
He stands courtside.
Scott Good morning, gentlemen.
I had a chance to talk to both coaches before the game and ask them about the Keys landmark.
Christian Coach Waller told me that he needs his team to play pressure defense.
He says they live by it all year long.
Secondly, they need to stay out of foul trouble.
He says his bench isn't very deep.
He's only got eight players.
They can't afford to get any players knocked out of this game.
Then I talked to Coach Lester with Hopkinsville.
She tells me that they just need to play team ball and if they can lay it out on the court, she thinks they can win.
Back to you.
All right.
Thank you, Scott.
We'll look forward to talking to you throughout the afternoon here today as we get set to tip it off here again, the landmark Christian honey going center court with Sierra.
Do there are two players that we focused on there in the pre game.
Dave Garnett, so handsome with you right here along with the rest of our Georgia public broadcasting for talking to all the man to man defense inside big block right there by die hard who got her hand on one right there and I feel that's certainly going to be a key is her inside play today.
She's a dominant force both offensively and defensively.
She a great job on blocking that shot by taking her inside here and going over the offensive man's outside shoulder.
I see a hole side one block right there.
So back and forth, a little bit of defense landmark quickly back down on the other end shot and the foul landmark the game.
Tiffany Hall, number 32 went up with it right there and drew the contact.
Well, there it's almost like we're watching an inner squad scrimmage.
I mean, both these teams mirror each other so well, blocking shots and running up and down the floor playing pressure defense.
This game is going to have this all day long foul on Kendra Roberts, Her first team first the first free throws off the hard ball score from the strike debut.
Half the score from the strike.
These three points.
There you see her numbers, eight points on the season, three and a half rebounds and 2.4 steals for the junior and second one on the way out.
Is it hard to see what this allows?
Now Lamarr can jump in to the press once you make the free throw play where he goes.
Try first 11. here inside the first minute backcourt pressure and a throw away right there and a turnover by Hopkinsville over see in that lady worry the pressure early on here.
Well what that does is cut down on your thinking time via the pressure.
But what see what I like about Hopkinsville is when Durant has the ball being a center or a post player, she can bring that ball up and the person Gardner is usually not as quick Turner Down by money field, she puts it home.
So Kristen Honeycutt with her first best basket of the year, they could have a 510 senior Nice job by Coach Warren getting that play to her early to get her started three nothing Lamar Christian on the board this time landmark plays off a little bit defensively good ball movement right there Brianna Colson trying to make a shot happen Puts one up a tough shot go with the player in the face offensive board and the foul on the put back right there by L.C.
at home Kelsey Holmes is tough off the glass here's a1211 press that holds a58 senior averaging in double figures this year for Hopkinsville The Lady Red Devils 29 last year into this year's state championship game at South by Hunt it's up off the mark kept alive though by hall and landmark Well reset well Coach Wall I think has seen a mismatch that he likes with Collier guarding Honeycutt because many cats must pass his back in or down and that time Diamond Honeycutt had another shot blocked by do Hines this year are you playing a good defensive game here in this first quarter David gets the shot blocker you never want to fade away when picked up off the shot box chest.
If you fade, you create space and the defensive end is going to occupy that space every time Nice gets right in front of the catch behind to the double team because he got rid of it and take it away.
By Kirsten Honeycutt.
I think that put it back down on the other end, one on one against.
You've got a shot to go to go there.
Be a follow though is there for Joel Christian and a whistle on the floor in the 32nd time out going to be called by the lady Red devils and coach shovel Leicester so this is a good time out Just settle down, relax and then implement your game plan.
Go ahead, take a quick time out and be right back to the make it center place.
532 to go opening period Landmark Christian with a52 lead you five Funding for this program is provided by the Georgia High School Association.

Dodge salutes the hard work community spirit and the dedication of these two fine teams.
Thanks for tuning into GPB and please enjoy the rest of the game.
Dodge grabbed life by the horns back here inside the naked center place land by Christian with a three point lead over Hopkinsville.
Early on here.
Inside the first few minutes of this classic rural state championship, Kasey Holmes trying to get it across cross for the Lady Red Devils to get that last time out pulled by Hopkinsville after Lamont Christian was able to string together another bucket there and they need it for the other room.
So that was Holmes putting up a shot just missed it followed the the rebound and kept it around even though she missed that shot.
I like how active she is down low.
But he got quickly back down on the other end of that race as other run to the hoop and she's got four days to win the championship.
You got to stop the ball and a turnover right there by the lady Red Devils and Honeycutt takes it back.
Christian Honeycutt is up and down the floor.
I'm saying she's the straw that stirs the drinks.
He's going to play both on the offensive end and defensive end of the floor, and she does a superb job of getting them into their offense because she's so tall.
She can just when she's got the ball at the top of the key, she can she's a threat anywhere.
She is on the floor and time Donald Honeycutt taking one to the hoop able to retain as you see her again the 510 junior the younger sister of Christian who's also a 510 senior.
Very explosive good hustle right here by Dieter.
All you got to come back and meet that pass here, a call you're kind of waiting for that pass to come to her.
She's got to come and get it and turn her hip into the defender.
Seven two advantage for the lady warriors looking for their first state championship.
They've won several region championships.
You want short diagonal passes here on these side out of bounds if you throw a horizontal pass on the side out of bounds, more effort that's going to be picked off and taken down the other way.
Colson with the inbound right here trying to get it in, lobs it into DuPont and what's it look set shot wouldn't go follows her onside it knocked away this defense all alone on the other end Tiffany Smith lays it up and in 50 is a very good player she can really run and she can catch the ball off the move So nine to landmark Christian with a little bit of a run here to open up the ballgame.
They lead it with 412 left in the opening period.
I'll see if the senior will pull it out.
The football will reset the offense right here.
They need points right now.
Phil landmarks, man to man.
Defense is really getting Hawkins on offense.
Ball loose fight for it loose ball jump ball possession Arrow will stay with the lady devils look for Hopkinsville to try to run a set play for Dermott down low Folsom once again with the ball and Mark really made it up right here You see the field goals for five for Lamar Basketball?
Just one of five in this first quarter.
Well, that's what you alluded to earlier.
It's the pressure from LaMarcus Cotton, that low shooting percentage by Hawkins that's a lot of the shots are reactive shots instead of being in the attack mode rebound throw another miss right there.
It's amazing that a team like landmark in just eight players it obviously is not going to have a whole lot of depth suiting up just a is able to run an impressive play man is word that comes from practice and the guys are playing against good players every day in practice.
You know honey, that's going against your sister in Hall.
You're going to have to hit nothing to help but improve.
You're going to look at Kristen Honeycutt, of course, that's what you're saying, that it's like having another coach on the floor and you see her numbers in the semifinal game against Savannah.
Country Day landmark, of course, came out, took care of business, and that one won it by 1122 with 24 points, six second one on the road, a little shorthanded at those free throws.
You got to have those because they going to come down the stretch.
You got to get those points.
Nice pass backs on the other end.
A landmark just so quick in transition Get back on defense knocked it away you can't teach speed has the great equalizer open look for the three just off the mark by Ferrell If she gets her feet set Dave she can hit that high.
So Hopkinsville will live out at a landmark against showing backboard pressure right here Folsom and now Dwight will bring it across behind the back right there.
Good looking walk, but a little too tall.
Not a lot of real estate in there.
She tried to thread the needle but couldn't make it happen.
Well, that's landmarks defense.
It's fool's gold.
It looks like it's open and they're making you shoot the shot that they want you to shoot.
There's six turnovers.
You can't have six turnovers and expect to be, you know, in the ballgame.
And they're amazing that they're only down seven with six turnovers.
A landmark, just one turnover, as you saw there is playing a near-flawless first quarter here, starting out the way they wanted to that shot off the mark by Honeycutt and rebound Hopkins good for Hopkins those did a nice job of staying in the game having shot the ball so poorly plus the six turnovers a nice pass inside that time to Kendra Roberts.
See there's not much defense to that because she's so good at the top of the key and your heart as a post.
So she brings your big people out and then your guards and slash and there's no help inside from that.
Cutting back down on the other end and knocked away and now puts up a three point shot in and out rattle around last touched by Hopkinsville rebounds are going to be huge in this game though whoever can control the boards are going to win the title.
Hopkinsville, of course, with nine straight wins coming into today, their second final in four years.
But it's landmark right now at nine four.
Here's a shot put up in and out by Joel Christian, seeing a few of those rattle around here early on because the shots are being challenged.
Dave, a lot of people shoot real well during the year, but when it comes to playoff time, that percentage drops because every shot is being challenged.
Big block by honey come from behind on LCL halting the great bounce pass and run super bounce pass.
Anytime you feed the post, you want to feed the post with a bounce pass bounce pass in air pass out.
Tiffany Hall finishes and she will be at the line and a chance for a three point play of that pass of course set up by Honeycutt, who does a good job of not only taking control of the leading scorer but also gets her teammates involved.
I love that she came down, she drew the defender out and when the defender came out, she saw the angle hit the pass, all unable to hit the free throw.
And if it's one negative, I guess for Lamar Christian in this first period, it's been at the line so far.
But that's really about it.
Well, exactly.
You know, they've missed the front end of two freebies and then they missed that one right there.
That's three shots, possibly six points they should have had.
They're just not giving Hawkins a lot of breathing room right now.
Granted, they're really ball pressuring extremely well.
You're going to have to set some screens and really make some hard basket cuts for Christian.
Looking for the steal off the inbound.
This is Latoya Scott who checked in a moment ago, number 11, and she had it knocked away in the offense state.
You're going to have to get a couple of things.
One, you're going have to get the offense in with a pass.
If that doesn't work with a dribble, if that doesn't work, look to reverse it or try your backdoor game.
Watch a staggered screen.
Here comes the flash back side, drive off.
Great pass back here but another block and then nearly taken away even win the lady devils have a look at the bucket landmark is able to compensate for it by getting a hand in the face when it's a very long time, which means they don't have to close out as far because they have so much length to turn around in the lane one go take it down, Diamond honey, cut three on to back the other way.
The pass inside Mark puts it up and contact and that does a nice job.
David Taking that ball down the teeth of the defense, drawing that defender then pass into the open man.
When you come down in the three on two, don't pick your dribble up until you're stopped.
If once they stop, you make your past and follow it to the elbow.
Paul with five points and a rebound here early on in this game as a is the leading scorer as of right now and rattles the free throw home so she's got 659 seconds left in the opening period Landmark Christian out to a 12 four lead over Hopkinsville Lady Devils desperately needing a little bit of offense right here.
They certainly don't want to let it get away, but it's a long game definitely, especially when you have star power in Do Hart and Holmes on the offensive end as Hawkins still does well knocked away.
And I'll tell you what the lady warriors are flying all over the court They are great Ball pressure looks for Hawkins but Breanna Colson has got to get going to start this offensive team hopes at 90 to the semis against southwest Atlanta.
Christian Colson, 18, led by three at the half and an 11 run to start the third quarter was really the difference Thursday one mile of a 6150.
And you got to look at Joel Christian who picks up the foul.
What do Hart does so well day we've said this now like 19 times her ability to handle the ball she can take the other team's big people to the basket and pick up quick fouls and you saw through Hart's numbers in the semifinals right there she had 15 double double there, multiple rebounds in the contest.
Well, she's had three blocked shots today and maybe you had a bunch of alternates, a change of shots today.
She's done a super job and two for two from the strike.
So that cuts the lead half of 12 six with 42 seconds left in the opening period from the May consider close Hopkins getting a man to man defense nice pass inside there and travel going to be called on first in one of the few times today we've actually seen little mark actually set up their offense most offensive bench would have been a transition landing all basically from the defense to a great point they had their scoring off their defense in transition.
That's a good point.
That's coming up.
Working on a Sierra diehard, that's going to be a great matchup here.
Folsom brings it back out.
See, but having done that so far from the basket, it pulls LaMarcus defense people far away Just stop right there wouldn't go I think there has been a thought the clock is winding down a little and we'll see how the crowd started there.
You can look at Coach Lester, the 2004 class-A coach of the year.
She does an outstanding job.
First, the Lady Devils won the state championship in four time winding down here 6 seconds inside and he puts up the shot to strong would go to foul they loved it and the lady warrior goes of landmark first it out to a 46 advantage after the first 8 minutes from the making center plus an exciting first quarter of high school basketball.
We'll take a timeout and be right back with quarter number two.

That's Jim Lawler and the number one ranked landmark Christian Lady one 846 advantage over Hopkinsville.
You get a look at Coach shovel after her Lady Devils trailing right now could be a little bit worse than it is, but they're still very much alive at this game.
Definitely day that's plastic backed by diamond with a big stick back for Lamont Christian however you know Lamont Christian's two for seven from the free throw line plus they've missed a couple of stick backs They should have maybe had 2123 points.
But on the flip side, if I'm Hopkinsville, I'm not feeling so bad because we haven't played well offensively.
I'm only down eight points.
Back to action here, period.
Number two from the naked center quotes De Fries, Dancing with the Stars, nasty side just off of it and the rest of the Bruins go back the other way.
It looks like Joel Christian is going to offensive foul Griffin averaging six points and five six for the heart of in the big play It's interesting to see do you know the 511 seniors she brings the ball up the floor as well as any time in the time for LaMarcus in the first period Wolves defense a great look at their inside handling role what Hawkins was trying to do here with blue at the point they're bringing the flashing up Alesha Holmes to the elbow and when he catches it at the elbow the wings being ten to Roberts in that case are going to go back to as hard as they can correct the blame on Roberts.
And he got the score there.
So 14 eight back on the other end, landmark working the offense inside and he can turn around tough shot would go and then Tiffany Hall draws the whistle You never want to bail them out yet get the hands up and back his up and back and contest the shy challenge the shot contested.
Don't try to block every shot if you've got him on the ball.
The offside guy tries to get the block.
Five team fouls now on Hawkins drills.
You see how happy you are because of the first one and this is it.
I really like the coach wall he's doing here now.
He's putting Christian Honeycutt down on the block.
So now the smaller here, Collier has a tough time.
Gardner down there for the throw switching defense by coach Lester and Hopkinsville seven points for Tiffany Hall 1 to 2 on that triple backcourt pressure right here.
But the Lady Devils do a nice job.
Bring it, boss.
I'll see a horse picking up that last one first to get 14,000.
I could still just walk all the way here, stay out of trouble.
And that's what they need to do.
I sat down to storm off the glass and picked up jump ball, come out possession here.
It will stay with the Lady Devils.
Well, it's about free layups now.
Hopkinsville is miss, but those are good shots.
They're going to fall once as this game progresses.
It's a high to working.
Nice pass inside.
Just couldn't quite get the ball right there And Kristen Honeycutt with a rebound and use that backboard I don't think they banked on the response time to get the ball up dunk for two very fast off the dribble as I said earlier in the broadcast, she does a great job of dominating the game without dominating the ball and where she is on the floor.
She's a force inside.
Great.
And with their turnaround, a good move by Christian Onyeka He did a great job there, Dave I used that using the rim to block the defender's hand.
I think that with six points here in the early going and it looks like we got a little push there along the line, that one will drive you crazy as a coach.
David following a person 45 feet 60 feet from the basket, she actually came back away from the defender by using the rim.
That's a super job last foul going to be on Joel Christian that'll be her second Now those reached fouls I'll kill you nice look inside right there And the arrow just didn't go for Holmes after the goal has created some open looks of this night.
Give him the ball.
He was a one on one on the other end and he got loses her footing and then it's taken away by two halves.
She's got great vision Dwight that nice pass up there for Robert Colson all alone underneath for the hoop Breanna Colson the five seven junior averaging eight points on the season with her first two of the game.
So it's back to a seven point lead right here 523 left in the first half here for the naked center Brooks three point shot from way out there.
I told you, David she gets her feet set she can hit that D Terrell from NBA Range drains the three and that widens the gap to ten across two.
ROBERTS Another great look inside just a little too strong off the glass take it step now three point shot from Roberts off the back of the iron No good drop down by hall That's a little quick by Roberts going to pull that out and try to get Dwight back down the floor because she had missed halfcourt yet she got to credit the Lady Devils.
I know it's a ten point game, but credit that they made some adjustments.
They are starting to get more open looks.
They just got to get the stops before they just have to make their layups.
Three point shot on the lane once again off the glass for two consecutive three point shots.
She's got six and it's a 13 point lead and a time out on the floor.
Good time out there.
You got to get at her, run her, make her floor it in, her out.
But she's going to be able to hit that shot standing still.
Time out.
We'll step aside.
Take one with him for two to play second period from the make It center flex.
We're back in a moment.

Hopkinsville, good crowd on hand, dressed in red here today.
Well, you can't have these fouls 93 feet from the basket.
That's just going to drive you nuts.
First of all, that we're going to be on all three team fouls now on the lady Warriors.
Those in that one.
Take it alone.
Great man to man.
Press there with a center fielder, meaning they weren't guarding the inbound, which allowed Joel Christian to kind of sit back there like Angel Jones and come there and pick it off a little UCLA cut with a screen on the ball for the double screen on the backside.
I thought of that and kicked it back down to Jarell Christian.
Christian, just a sophomore.
That door.
And it looks like the ball travel right there Great job by do cheap again pressed up on Honeycutt which caused a reshuffle in thief you see do hard has done it all today for Hopkinsville but she's only got a couple of points.
The lady devils have had some open looks just haven't hit the soft area to get back to offense.
They just missed those layups inside that time that added strip the road.
Great job landmark Christian with the numbers momentarily too off to a great up and under move there by Honeycutt Great job by Christian Honeycutt on the defensive end of the floor then come back and score lay up on the offensive end see for job 1948 points for Christian.
She's got a warm up here That's a game high in this first half they'll see Holmes on the other end knocked away but they're going to get it for the foul They've got a little bit of that wrist.
my goodness.
Have to see that again.
Holmes will go to the line here with two points so far in the contest.
Here comes the foul.
Well, I think she got the ball.
Dave.
First triple there for Holmes three on the day but what she did a nice job there is took her inside hand and went over the offensive man's outside shoulder that's allows the body never to touch apple on your right she saw number four into the line up there you going to look at Holmes numbers at the semifinals 21 points 13 of the second half leading the way for the Lady Devils in most of those roll on stick.
That's 324 left.
First half, 2511 landmark Christian in control right here, Diamond honey, get in the lane and she's going to draw the whistle and we'll go to the line.
We're in a tenuous spot here today.
Defensively, Hawkins has got to stop the penetrations of Christian's post up so low she's posting up so low.
Diamond is down in the post.
You got to make her post a little higher.
That's two fouls on do Hart running back, knocks down the first one.
You got to look at honey cats numbers today, three points and three rebounds for the junior and the second free throw on the way.
And it's their landmark fifties size and speed is definitely in the lane is definitely causing Hopkinsville toughness and a turnover in the backcourt there by the Lady Devils so Landmark will get it right back with a 2711 lead puts Leicester not happy about that one as you see the look on her face.
Gibson Lady of Warrigal Honeycutt has been impressive, averaging close to 20 points a game on the year and she's well on her way to that here today with eight This first half puts up another tough shot and we'll call the whistle once again LaMarcus really taking it inside there and really working related obviously they have such great skilled players with the with the dribble running when Honeycutt takes the ball into the of the page you can even just absolutely kick it out to Tiffany Hall or she can dump it down to her sister for an easy layup.
You saw a ten one run for Lamar Christian make it 11 to 1 Christian Honeycutt knocks down the free throw and that's three fouls on Sierra do Hart to come out of the lineup there we're still Scott comes in to replace her Scott a59 Jaeger averaging six points a game second one on the way from honey court and it's good to 4 to 8 Christian now in double figures with ten points in the game man to man press.
I see Holmes dribbling got rid of it Ross with it and knocked away and a 10 seconds down to four job by landmark what they did there they funneled the ball to the sideline.
Now the sideline becomes a defender.
We're now two people that can come three or four.
So here we come right to the sideline, the sidelines, the defender, the half court lines, the defender.
So two defenders from laying the mark now become four.
You don't ever want to get pinned up over there.
Even one.
Try to keep the ball in the middle for as much as you do.
Exactly.
Go inside.
Skip it.
Opposite to the wing.
Terrell thought about the three point shot, takes it back out and now pulls the trigger from three point range off the mark.
Just add all the here and we'll go back to Hopkinsville.
Two and a half left.
If you're going to look at two right there having to sit this one out, she may not come back here the first half with those three fouls.
Well, Hopkinsville, this can't fall apart and it will stay with Landmark Glass touched by holds to heart again, averaging 18 points.
It's hard to do a take out of the lineup right now.
Just two points, though, so far and sit with those three fouls.
And if you're landmark, that's where you like to see her.
Exactly.
Coach Waller's man to man pressure with a center fielder is really cause Hawkins was some trouble Buttercup being matched up against Latoya Scott right here Christian kicks it back out to 15 to play first half of the center blitz all the way to the hoop and the foul once again Honeycutt slice him down the lane there only had a chance for a three point play but as it is, she'll shoot too.
It's a tough matchup now for Hopkinsville guarding Christian Honeycutt because if they put a quicker player in Kiara, call Your Honor she's not as tall and they're going to post Christian honey got if they put a bigger player he's going to back her up off at the top of the key with the dribble and go by her coach Lester looking on as you see honey cuts numbers 11 points today and five rebounds for the senior Larkin Boyd on may look to change your defenses on maybe throw a triangle and a box and one give her a different look one of two on that trip from the stripe last touch by the lady warriors So back to Hopkinsville with 211 left inside the Lady Devils.
Nice job of getting it across the court there and it's going to be offensive foul.
It looks like a charge going to called on Holmes Wow Big block from behind by Monica.
I thought they were going to get her for the body and then Holmes They get for the chance right here.
Great job on the defensive side there to set her feet.
Well, she got that charge to the fact that she took it outside the lane.
You've got to take that charge outside the lane.
So Holmes now is to fire this first half.
But landmark just really pounding that ball inside right now.
They're doing a great job of spreading them out, then kicking it to the wing and then taking it to the basket hard where Hopkinsville is having a tough time guarding that man to man in a matchup situation for a little bit banged up on that last play was on the ground there momentarily she's up and ready to go.
They're going to look at coach Jim Waller.
Landmark has held opponents under 30 points 14 times, twice in these playoffs.
That is remarkable.
Well, that's due to the pressure because even if they don't steal it in their press, they're making you raise the ball down the floor and it's kind of like fool's gold.
You're taking a quick shot, Miss those Quick, early layups.
Then all of a sudden, before you look at it, it's a five point game.
Ten point game.
And now, heck, it's a 20 to 20 point game.
And that's kind of the get you in that trap now.
3111 right here.
146 forms with it gets it back out Roberts pulls up and swatted away by Honeycutt.
And I'll tell you what I don't know how these blocks he's got here this first half but she is having a remarkable game offensively and defensively the put back right there and the role for us see at home nice shot Now this allows you to set up your defense Big bucket right there by the Lady devils.
If anything, for momentum sake definitely stop this you know this run that landmark Christian's been on.
So now you got a turnover.
Got a minute?
15 and a half.
You're not going to get it all back at one stage.
You just got to take your time and whittle this thing down.
If you can keep them to 31.
That being landmark Christian, then you get do her back in the second half.
Robbinsville off the inbound.
Holmes with some room to run here we're close a little bit but a tough bucket off the glass right there Evans with back to back food pass 750 point game as we hit the one minute mark in the half it was 20 about 10 seconds to go and it's here you're going to be called out there See a lot of that call this year.
High school basketball definitely a it a point advantage.
You must keep your hand on top of the ball.
See, we've had a miss Long shot.
We had a turnover and then another turnover.
And now they have a chance to cut this thing down to 13.
Jocelyn Maguire of the five six freshman into the lineup for Landmark, one of the few substitutions again for Coach Waller and the Lady Eagles.
And I tell you what, they like clockwork.
You don't really slack off a whole lot when you bring one of those bench players in.
ROBERTS One quick like Folsom I got fouled lost a handle on it right there and a whistle and Terrell draws the A contact a foul going to be on Roberts are second 14 to 3 run for a landmark here in the latter part of the second quarter.
Now we're in the double bonus I think that's going to be three fouls on Roberts so all of a sudden the Lady Devils have a little bit of first half foul trouble here.
And there you see Coach Lester and again, D Terrell at the line right here shooting to look for the first got to come in So Robert Ross will check back in for Hopkinsville as you see her the five to senior averaging eight a game second one on the way for Terrell Mr. but be put back it would go by Honeycutt finally brought out of there by the tallest guy time winding down 32 seconds in here your number two from the Macon cineplex and my Christian reading here by 15 and there's a nice bucket by Breanna Folsom nice job she's I call her her like a junk player and I'm not being derogatory in the regard that she does all the little things that nobody else wants to do.
It gets the stick back, dives on the floor.
Every championship team needs.
Briana Colson, Christian, honey, get that one monitor.
Partially tip right there goes out of bounds and it will go back to Hopkinsville.
So it a disincentive for him in the last minute has not really gone well for landmark Christian even though they're they're up considerably here.
This is not the way they wanted to end the half and that'll do it for the first 16 minutes from the make in center play 31 to 17.
The halftime score here as the landmark Christian Lady Warriors, the number one team in class AA.
They're defeating the Hopkinsville Lady Devils at the break.
It's been a very action packed first half, both teams really up and down the floor.
Let's throw it courtside.
Scott Koslowski standing by with Coach.
I'm here with coach, here with Coach Waller.
Coach, 14 point lead.
Going into halftime, you talked about your pressure defense before the game.
They've seemed to do a great job in the first half.
Yeah, but we was a two minute break.
If we can catch it on the free throw line, we're big Paul ahead.
We are now we're getting hurt by backdoor cuts.
We're coming off the baseline too much and that's what they like more.
Do we got to correct that part of it?
All right.
Good luck in the second half.
All right.
Thank you, Scott.
Again, I have an exciting first half, 3117.
Once again, landmark leads it.
Go ahead, step aside, be back with more from the making Center flexes half time rolls on here again day two of our live coverage on GPB.

Let's go courtside with Scott Lawsky, who's standing by with a couple of special guests.
SCOTT Thank you very much, Dave.
I'm here with the principal of Hopkinsville.
This is Mary Royal and the headmaster of Lamar Christian.
Matt Skinner.
Let's first talk to Mary.
What do you think of this first half ceremony to say?
We're a little bit disappointed, but I'm not going to count these girls out yet because Hopkinsville has got an incredible amount of tradition coming here to this ball game today.
Our girls walked out every day and in the heat of the summer, the boys had the weight room in the morning, in the evening, and the girls worked at 1:00.
And there's a big old sign in that white room that says, Tradition never graduates.
And I was your student body feel about being here.
they're thrilled.
I'll tell you, we we have a painted Hopkinsville red with a holes All the business people got out on the street this morning to greet the bus as it came through town and balloons and signs and everything.
They are so proud of these girls.
And so are we.
What do you expect in the second half?
I expect my girls to be in really good shape.
I don't expect for them to give up.
I expect them to play the last second of the ballgame.
Right.
Thank you, Matt.
Your team's up by 14.
What do you think?
Well, we're obviously we're pleased with it and we're we're happy with the result for the first half.
But, you know, as as Mary said, Hopkinsville is not going to quit.
They're going to come out strong in the second half.
They did that with a one of our arch nemesis soccer last week or this week.
So we're expecting a pretty tough battle in the second half as well.
But tell me a little bit about what life is like at Landmark Christian.
Well, it's it's energetic, it's passionate.
And we try to create in the kid just a desire to go out and impact the world for Jesus Christ and everything that they do.
We try to create just an environment where they can excel to the best of their ability and whatever field they want to, whether it be drama, whether it be on the athletic field or court or up in a choir.
So it's it's something we want to create the whole package for the child, be able to come in and be prepared to to walk in life and be able to impact that in a in a powerful and very positive way.
What are you looking for in the second half?
A battle of battle.
There are number 33 and 30.
Those are two exceptional young ladies and great players.
I expect them to come out and and start shooting.
And then we were fortunate with some, you know, misses in the first half, but I don't expect that to continue too long.
So thank you very much.
Thank you both and good luck to you both in the second half.
They've.
All right.
Thank you, Scott.
Again, Landmark Christian looking for their first state championship, Hopkinsville looking for their third.
Of course, they were winners in 2004.
Dave Gardner, Phil Hansen, back with you right here at halftime.
And I tell you what, a great first half, a basketball back and forth landmark, Christian with the edge, but the Lady Devils playing tough.
They're hanging in there and it's still a relatively close ballgame.
Definitely.
It's only you're only down 14 as we talk at the break and see how Dermott is yet to really get going.
So if I'm Hopkinsville, I feel pretty good about that.
And 14 points is only seven baskets.
However, if I'm Lamar Christian, if they can get Hopkinsville to chase them in that spread attack and their offense I'm pretty sure it's going to be who Lamar Christian is going to take a look back at some of the first half highlights and there were indeed plenty of them here in this class.
AA girls championship game, of course, Landmark with the big block right there by by Hawkins Hopkinsville, both teams with a lot of defense.
As you see Christian Honeycutt, one of her multiple blocks in the first half, another one from Joel Christian right there.
Of course, the offense is also picking up a little bit, honey, but with a great move.
And as you talked about, she's so quick off the bounce, Dave.
I mean, she accelerates so fast and gets up so quickly she can take the bomb changer shot in the energy.
Tremendous effort to run with the back to back three point shots really gave the game to the lady ward.
There's a boost there.
But Elsie Holmes, again, sparking a little bit of that offense right there, also had back to back buckets later in that second quarter there.
And here you going to look at the numbers again, field goals, 38% against 29% for Hopkinsville, three point shots, two of five for the lady Horry goes free, throws landmarks starting to pick it back up a little bit a slow start but still just nine of 19 three of four for the lady devils they're doing what they need to their rebounds are almost even turnovers again ten for Hopkinsville they're going to have to cut down on that a little bit.
And the block shots there in favor of landmarks, 6 to 3, but indeed a great first half, a high school basketball.
And we are looking forward to an excellent second half of hoops right here.
Again, the class, a girls matchup between Landmark and Hopkinsville, third period.

Let's go courtside to Scott Kozlowski standing by with Coach Lester.
I'm here with Hopkinsville.
Coach Lester, what did you tell your girls at halftime?
Halftime down by 14.
This game is not over yet.
We got hurt in the first half.
It's time for us to pick our ball game and play the way we know how.
Play.
We're not rebounding.
I'm just saying all this morning we just being hustling.
We're not hustling and playing the way that I know we can play.
Well, good luck in the second half.
All right.
Thank you, Scott.
Again, Coach Lester in the Hopkinsville Lady Devils in here, winners of nine straight games again, 27 and three coming into the contest, trying to capture another state championship but feel they've got their work cut out for them in the second half.
The big thing, Dave, is you don't try to get 14 points back in the first 5 seconds of the game.
You got to just slowly but surely run your offense in, capitalize on the situations that benefit you and then you've got to get back in this game.
On the defensive end of the floor, plus on the glass you've got to rebound, limit landmark Christian to one shot and done Look to get some quick steals Score off your defense first half Christian Honeycutt led all scorers with 11 LCL Holmes with seven four Hopkinsville led the away for the Lady Devils and we are underway here in number three.
They are so handsome we've just got guys Lasky courtside with us this afternoon as we open up day two coverage of our high school basketball state championships live on TBS.
Glad you could join us on a welcome.
Our viewing audience right here.
Certainly appreciate all our members being on board with us here today, landmark with the basketball, all again, moving left to right in the visiting blues, Hopkinsville getting their man to man defense.
Look for Lamar Christian to spread them out for the Devils with the inbound right here get it across.
So that was certainly one of the points of emphasis after that first quarter because they had trouble doing that a little bit.
But then the second quarter started to do a lot better job of that, although they still haven't got the shots to fall away.
Mark, with another take away.
great little move inside there by Honeycutt headed knocked away then went off of a leg So back to the lady Devils that last shot down there by Hawkins goal may not be the shot you want to take is a little quick.
Plus, you didn't have anybody down the other end on the floor to rebound.
Even when it looks like Hopkinsville has the numbers that two on one that three on one break landmark is so fast and getting back defensively that they really don't give you any time to react to anything.
Well speed kills at any sport and Landmark does a great job of closing down the passing lanes.
Sierra drew hard against three fouls in that first half.
He sat the bench the last couple of minutes during that second quarter, but she does start the second half in the game for the lady Devils as a great pass by hard to control Roberts also with three fouls for Hopkinsville and they'll see at home as the leading scorer with two.
So they're going to have to be careful here, especially in this third period and a take away right there by hall And that's why you want a bounce pass into the post, not an air pass into post, a bounce pass into the post 3117 quiet, the minute half gone here at period number three, that shot rattled around off the the foot backward go kept alive by Roberts and that shot a big block from behind by Hardik the one that sounds like a broken record.
This is so quick off the jump.
But it seems to me this whole game landmark Christian has been just one step ahead of Hawkins all night long.
Great block.
She's had she's had several of those in the ballgame, and a lot of them have come from behind like that.
I think she's got four now in the game.
Super timing, great hands.
nice little bucket there by Holmes inside that time found a little bit of room in front It was just pretty much for the hoop.
I love the way Holmes uses her shoulders to keep the defense between the ball and herself.
First points up a second half its 12 point game with 6 minutes to play nine points.
Now for Holmes, she had 19 in the semifinals.
It is southwest Atlanta Christian who many felt was the favorite coming in to Hopkins Go knocked them off a great game their 6150 looks from a fancy deal in for Lamar Christian and a little slip there from dime at home We've got now back the other way the lady devils trying to get a little run here in the second half to close the gap.
Holmes trying to get the shot off though too much traffic in there Do hard hit it knocked away and that's still first on the other hand trying to outrace Collier and the hoop delivers.
You're ever going to find someone making a layup?
Never let them get their hands above their shoulder, go for the ball, but don't let them get their hands above the shoulder in the right here.
He didn't stop her from taking the shot.
If you're going to foul, make sure she does not get her hands above her shoulder.
Christian, try to knock down the three point play.
There you see her season.
The second year sophomore with an excellent season does could knock down the free throw there.
So she completes the three point play and it's 3319 for pressure the baton and the lady double scattered across zero do hard Roberts with the basketball dribbling into the lane good penetration right there and got the roll There's no weak side help there does that short that's I was probably not happy about that one she got to stop the ball inside It's a four out one in look look to ISO Christian Honeycutt down low run smaller Collier at jump shot from outside it would go for diamond knocked down again by do hard is that a pretty good rebounding game here she's been tough and she's been a presence you know on the offensive end and defensive end of the fourth she just hasn't been able to get a few looks off in some shots Great pass inside right there.
It just wouldn't quite go for Colson.
But again like how it drifted away.
When you get that rebounder, you never want to bring it below your chin, turn to the outside, away from the defense.
You bring it down.
That's when the little guys can get there and steal it.
And that's what they did right there.
And then the foul deal just seems to me tonight and this is a do to landmarks pressure Hawkins Mills looked rushed the whole game even in the back court and then coming down in front court Ball You're off on that free throw right there.
I left it's left Lester's expression.
You can tell how the game is going just by the look on her face.
And she's passive.
She's into the game.
Absolutely.
Call you again.
The junior I just saw there.
Her numbers averaging five a game on free throws.
They've had their opportunities with good mystic backs and layups and turnovers and missed free throws.
Hopkins going to be right back in this thing honey.
He inside pull up off the ball great rebound get the lob or something go out there and honey that got it to go off the glass Great rebound by Tiffany Hall but first points of the second half she's got a baker's dozen now with 13.
You never want to throw that inbound pass underneath your goal in a diagonal shot she elevates so well.
Time out on the floor.
Well, step aside for four left in the third period, 3621 of Landmark Christian leads it.
We're back a moment.
Funding for this program is provided by the Georgia High School Association.

They've got a phone handset with you.
Scott Kozlowski courtside today for a full slate of high school basketball action here today up underneath the roof of the longtime venue of the state's high school championships.
This is a great place, great arena, great town.
They do a superb job hosting this event every year.
It's so much fun to come down to Back to the game here a little bit.
It's pretty much been Christian Honeycutt and the lady Warrigal who have dominated Hopkinsville hanging around, but this one slowly starting to get away from them.
They've got to generate some offense film definitely, and they've got to get the ball inside to do her in their halfcourt set.
Everything's running towards the basket or a quick shot, come down, make landmark Christian play defense in the halfcourt set to high dribbling up top Too little pass there inside trying to find Folsom cutting to the hoop and she will draw the foul But there again it's been an all or nothing thing She's going to the basket 100 miles an hour throwing up a one in a running one hander.
And you know, unfortunately she got bailed out on the foul and knocks down the first two Folsom five points today.
She's the key.
She's got to get them going in the offensive end of the floor.
Calling her out holds back in for Hopkinsville.
You see her numbers again three rebounds to go along with those five points for the junior second one on the way off the iron by Christian Honeycutt great rebound she just like so much to the table really in every phase of the game Great move right there and created the open look on the other end She's a poor man's Magic Johnson I mean she got the rebound on the defensive end of the floor and took it 94 feet, made a layup 15 points for Kristen Honeycutt of Landmark Christian.
The Lady Warriors look solid here as 328 to play in the third period nicely to follow right through this window for Roberts in and out of their horns and that one block finally got it That's five for her on the afternoon pull up jumper on the other end that one off the there brought down by the guards.
I can't begin to tell you how impressed I am with time.
And honey, cut the defense and see her do half.
That's been a huge, huge factor in the game.
Absolutely.
Now, here's the halfcourt set right here for Hopkinsville.
Let's see what they do with it.
One of the few times we've really seen that seems like today landmarks in a man to man.
See, they got a cheap foul.
So we're going to be called on Christian.
So even though Hopkinsville likes to play fast and the tempo is up and down, that benefits Lamar Christian because that's what they want you to do, because if you miss, they've got the guards being in honey cut to take it up the floor.
Along with Tiffany Hall and Joel Christian long in inbound pass right there in to do hard knocks down her second bucket of the game She's got four got great hands Dave great great hands that was a nice pass to in traffic 3824 the school here the nearly knocked away by Colson got a hand on it 20 Scott in the 11 in the lineup working on Christian Monika and a blocking foul and he crowd right there and Honeycutt still able to knock down bucket because he will go to the line we'll see that but they're going to wave off the bucket right here watch the cuts 2000 Scott funny effect diamond but he first steps up a little deep there the last touch by Hopkinsville so open and bang and down low just they are this a spot throws receive three point shot all the way just off the mark for Terrell two in that first half on back to back possessions for her six points in the game now Hopkinsville has to be a little patient off the mark by the horns from outside kept alive though by Scott all down there in pockets go and reset the half board.
But every shot is challenged, every pass a challenge and do the fact that LaMarcus got tremendous length trail not to the way and has the ball on the other end but the shot wouldn't go this way you need that layup is long pass right there in the open look underneath inside a hole that's a four point play too you didn't get on this end.
Plus the two that came back on and the defensive end of the floor.
You've got to be able to devalue the loose in every possession.
Isaiah Horns with 11 boards, picking it up here in the second.
The Lady Devils remember she's had to just two in that first half.
It's time to pour it on a little boy.
We're going to need those points down the throats in order to stay into it.
And there you get a look at deeds around the Andrea Terrell, the five seven junior who draws another whistle and another chance at the line did a nice job is straight up through the contact head on the rim focus on your target follow through play mark again nine of 19 as we saw at the half from the strike.
So that's certainly an area that Coach Waller wants his ladies to work on here.
And again, another miss and that's been it.
You see the difference in the game.
If they make half their free throws, they're going to be in great shape with the ones they missed.
TERRELL one of two did knock down the second.
She's got seven and it's a 3826 lead.
Great catch the shot off the mark there and quickly back the other way It's basically bid one at it at one and out it seems like all day.
And that's due to Landmark Christian's pressure.
They forced you up and you think, it's an easy layup.
You're taking that layup and it's challenged.
And that's the difference.
Pick out Tristan Honeycutt with it up top, trying to find a little bit of room Another pull up jumper that went off the mark wouldn't go kept alive though by Tiffany Hall nicely right there along the baseline to throw in there It's going to be a backcourt there over nice hustle by Christian honey got to go in there and touch that ball so it wouldn't be an easy layup on the back end.
Those kids would just let that ball roll, wait for the official to make a decision.
You never want the official to make a decision.
You just keep playing.
She's got a hand on it, which made it cause the back foot violation.
But she just held her hands up like putting the brakes on.
She adorably didn't come through there like a train.
Get it in, score.
Folsom wants to get with the inbound.
They work it into the heart.
36 seconds left.
Time winding down here in the third period, 3926.
Lamar Christian leads it over The Falcons feel at one with the way it looks like 25 seconds turnover before a clear out for Christian honey go.
I'm starting to get into it a little bit more right here as we get later in this one 8 seconds turn around honey.
But shot would go brought down by Drew Hart.
4 seconds left, Hopkinsville with one last chance here at the buzzer.
They're not going to get the shot off in time and it's off the mark.
So through three quarters of play, still a ballgame here.
3926.
Did you see Sierra do Hart's numbers here today?
18 points on the season today, just four points for the senior.
They're going to need her to step up in that fourth quarter.
We'll take a timeout right back with the final 8 minutes of the class, a girl's state championship.
We return live to the make it center flex booster and you can get up using up my cell.

Dave Gardner, Phil Hansen with his.
You see the two coaches right there.
Coach Sylvia Lester on the left.
I've got quarter there on the right hand side momentarily.
What's the game plan here in the final 8 minutes?
Well, right now if you're landmark Christian your biggest opponent is the clock.
You don't want to rush.
Be patient.
Value each possession.
You have the ball.
There's no reason for any quick shots.
If you're Coach Lester in Hopkinsville, the big thing here is you got to get the ball into your horse.
He got to run some sets for too hard so he can score and get some three point plays.
3926.
As we open up the fourth and final period, again, the classic rural state championship between landmark Christian and Hopkinsville.
Seeing this nice play, they went right into.
And unfortunately she just wasn't able to capitalize and they have got to fill Hanson next to this guy Kozlowski courtside today Watch for the flash.
Off inbound long just inside the arc wouldn't go defense transition got to get back.
Tiffany Hall.
Good job defensively by Folsom trailing you see right there they've got the end DeAndre it didn't need to take it to the basket Just pull it back out in run some clock You're up 13.
You don't really need a quick layup going in there one on three with no defensive help Great out of bounds play good cut by Christian honey got super job funny cat with 17 now in the ballgame.
Big ballgame once again for the five team senior hoping to go out of state champion here today Lamar Christian changed their defense to a three to zone shot from way outside Holmes taking it to high kept it alive Turn around and in and out of there but she will a trip through the stripe here to hard again as we showed you a moment ago, averaging close to 20 points per game but held to just four points today.
Some of that was because she was an early founder and had to sit, hasn't done a whole lot, didn't do a whole lot.
Had one bucket in that third period is at the line right here though so Lester's a nice job of coming out in the fourth quarter of making two straight possessions.
Look, we got to get it into her down low.
Now, whatever happens, happens, but we got to get it to her down low.
She she can create either a scoring opportunity or get fouled Sierra through hard one of two there on that trip.
So five points today for the 511 senior 4127 The score here landmark in their motion offense for a much tougher cut from the baseline cut to the center the one in the corner is going to make the cut.
It is great look inside to Tiffany Hall.
You got to get over the top of that screen.
You got a heads and hall now in double figures with ten both teams still really known as third quarter teams this year kind of kept it the same here the only brought for Hopkinsville those they were already down at the half so they really didn't make up a lot of ground in that third period it was do hart with the bucket she's got seven they're going to need her big here this last six and a half.
Hawkins Those guys start extending their pressure to try to turn them over the time play to get pulled it back out.
And you can't be a little bit more selective in a situation like that.
You got a lead.
Plus there's no shot clock.
You can't have any ball side cuts, though.
Get the A bounce pass in the post back on the other end forcing quickly across working one on one puts up a good looking shot right there it gets to now it's going to pick up with their pressure here to their waist to now 10 seconds good timeout by Coach Waller Look for coach Lester now they come up with full court pressure coming out of this timeout.
Coach Waller, talk of things over there.
Direct instructions it looks like indeed here 4331 the score again the lady warriors lead it number two.

And certainly looking forward to the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.
Always a always a beautiful event.
It's always so when we come down here, it's like 75 degrees.
It's kind of a transition out of the winter into the spring here.
Exactly.
That's what makes that festival so nice.
All the flowers start to bloom and everything.
The 545 to go here in this classic girls championship game.
When you plant Christian with the only time just in funny.
But we're up for the shot miss it right there again honey with 17 is really big the story here this morning I think we'll try to generate some off with a missed layup and a lot of those today I mean we've seen that a lot here today from the lady lovely Hopkins.
They'll shoot maybe about 25% for the game and that's and it's amazing they're only down 12 Watch a step back shot here in Dwight dive into the post the formation right here trying to slow down there a little bit There's guns in to it They got it into a great look right there then knocked away but I believe they're going to get Christian for the foul and it will be a two shot foul for Kendra Roberts.
Landmark's length has been so detrimental to Hopkinsville this year because when you think you have an open layup, here comes this hand out of nowhere and they're so long they don't have to close out As far.
That's four fouls on Christian too, by the way the sophomore is you see Roberts at the line gets on the first.
See what this allows Dave is Hopkinsville can score number one too.
The clock is not running in three.
It allows them to set their defense for whatever press they want to implement.
Seven points Today, just off Roberts got rebounds in their seven on the way knocks down a pair so eight points for Roberts now and it's eight times the pressure in ten point game day was 1943 33.
Little over 5 minutes left.
Great job by coach law.
Just saying be patient.
They run the spread, says where they can isolate 1525.
Top of the field at the ball.
Nice defense.
5 seconds and Hopkinsville on a60 run right now and they get another turnover.
Teams that like to pressure Dave usually don't like to be pressed and a little roll base they got a ballgame we got a ballgame 13 points for us here holds more backcourt pressure offensive foul back the other way.
I'm out here give me a timeout by coach Wallace but funny cut with the lead in right there The Lady devils are coming back.
They've got just under 5 minutes and they're on an eight run and they'll have the basketball after this 32nd timeout, a big possession.
They're opening up the fourth quarter when Tiffany Hall had that rebound and it down the floor and took that quick shot.
You didn't really need that.
Pull it back out.
Let's run some clock and make Hopkinsville chase and play some defense as a great timeout by.
Coach Vaughn trying to settle his team down and just run their isolations.
The honey set look for the high low between the two sisters Christian dumping it in the diamond on the other side of the floor you're looking at Coach Lester now is going to tell her team, Look, just stay with what we're doing, keep the pressure on them turnovers and let's get the ball in to do a heart and try to get them in the more foul trouble.
Well, the atmosphere is certainly picked up here inside the making.
Consider points over the last couple of minutes with this Hopkinsville run.
Both sets of fans are on their feet, as I'm sure they will be for the remainder of this one.
Off the inbound quick pull out there by Folsom allows the lady Devils to set up in their offense landmark back in their man to man defense.
There's the give them go to Hart backing in great hands.
What great hands David kept that ball in the air and catch it and go back up.
Excellent job Drew Hart with nine and eight over one so noise near they didn't hear the whistle make it a personal one for the lady Devils 43 to 37.
If you're a back line guy in the press, if you're an offensive man, this is a rebound, right?
This is a great stick back.
But again, if he's the offensive man in the press, if that man is staying in the game, has not received the ball, then you can come up and receive that pass for fouls.
Now, on DeMar, do you get a look at the run in the last 155 Ha with six but now he's got to be careful playing with a handful of fouls and I'm sure Landmark Christian knows that as well.
Second ball for Molly.
So another turnover by the Lady warrior those and Phil I tell you what she keep going like this this thing is going to get awfully interesting here comes the 1211.
We hadn't seen this now since the beginning of the game.
That's a charge.
Good job by Dion Honeycutt.
Super job again.
Briana Nicholson brought the ball up the sideline where the sideline in the halfcourt line became a defender.
Now one defender for Lamarr Christian that came three people.
Take another look at it right here again, Diamond Honeycutt.
There's nowhere for her to go.
Let's take up off to the side swing to the middle and kick it up the backside, going to their spread game.
Now it's basically a two possession game right here with six point lead for Lamarr Christian.
But it was 19 at one time.
This is all bad for Hawkins, though, due to the fact that Christian Honeycutt is standing basically on the other side to have Portland down and think that swings it out.
Christian Honeycutt Try to kick out right there and now the world is really trying to work that factor a little bit now.
But this dame, you got to keep the ball on one side of the floor, you got to cut the court in half and blessed with the steal right there on the other end, lays it up and will draw the foul.
You got to make those layups head up strong.
So to watch that ball goes to the net.
Don't worry about the defender.
Don't worry about coming down.
Great steal by Breanna, but she's got to keep her head up going with a strong shoulder.
Turn your thumb to the ground and watch the ball the through the net Gravity's going to take you down.
Fouled on Ferrell That's her third for landmark in a time out on the floor here with 310 left and an eternity to play Hopkinsville right back in this ballgame.
Well Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. it's Georgia's longest running high school sports and academics program prep sports.
Plus you'll meet some of Georgia's most successful student athletes athletic programs.
They had much more of that prep sports.
Plus, Thursday nights at 730, exclusively on GPB, one of my personal favorites, the great show.
It's great to see high school athletes at all levels, The state of Georgia showcase and really get the recognition they deserve in this state has become such a powerhouse nationally and in Georgia.
You take in sports, football, basketball, tennis, baseball.
My goodness.
I mean, Georgia is becoming a major powerhouse in the country.
Of course, last night we saw Colin, still the number one nationally ranked girls team in the country, Norcross as a nationally ranked boys team.
As you see the free throws there out there.
Again, landmark as well.
And 22, 50%.
Hopkinsville a little bit better at 7:00 that 50% and that's why the game is as close as it is when you see 50% from the from the line allows your opponent to get right back in the ballgame.
And at this time, this is right here, the 40 or whatever trip down the field becomes crucial in every facet of those two.
To see Folsom numbers today, seven points, four rebounds for the junior plus this if she makes the stops that allows the Falcons for to set their defense man to man press one of two 4338 with 3 minutes left and a foul going to be called on Latoya Scott her third.
Let's get to one more before the bonus system.
Do you try to go ahead and put them at the line?
You still got 3 minutes left.
You got a lot of time.
However, you got to understand, you're not real deep on either side of the court.
I mean, both teams are played pretty thin.
You never want that long horizontal pass.
And inside out of bounds ball is a diagonal pass again.
Now in this four corners that Lamar Christian is running Hopkinsville, he's got to keep the ball on one side and four cut the court in half, keep it on the side, trying to hustle right there.
And we'll tell you, Scott, here we came up with a turnover.
They'll literally get back to the center.
Good player inside shoulder play on her inside shoulder and don't let it go.
Middle ball big hit right here by the lady ladies.
Well, there's a foul that went on Roberts got a little bit of a chess match here now between the two coaches coach Lester is going to foul Now Landmark has to go to the line under pressure to make these free throws.
Now, the key thing here is you don't want to have to race down and shoot a quick three because if you miss now your opponent, you're going to have to file.
Your opponent can come down with no pressure, basically, and shoot the free throws on the other end of the floor.
And every time you do that, you're playing behind the power.
What I could show the Lester Blocking honor team trying to rally here from a 20 point deficit but they're back within five right here with 222 to play and the basketball and another whistle right there.
That last foul was Roberts fourth for Hopkinsville.
Now what a great luxury you have is here.
They're hard.
Who can get the ball in on the inbound?
Take the ball up 75 feet and get a 12 footer inside the lane without ever giving it back up again.
And she's your post player.
That's tremendous.
And there you see Durant's numbers today, 11 points, ten rebounds, four fouls as he's playing here, he's going to have to be careful and they can't afford to lose her, that's for sure.
And as active as she is inside, obviously, she's going to have to really be careful not to lead in or push or anything like that, pick it up.
She's definitely got to keep her shoulders squared.
13 points for Sierra do hard and it's a one possession game and a steals a great save and don't rush You got a lot of time Holmes gives off the shot.
She is thrown by quick throw in a third there the back of the hands of Scott.
You never want to try to save the ball in your own basket.
Just take that ball and throw it out of bounds.
Great.
Look inside wide open, Breanna Cross.
And that's the reason if you stayed on your own basket, you basically in the flow to the other team 140 to play back on the other end and a great shot off the glass by Honeycutt.
Well basically what we said in the opening both teams have legitimate stars and stars come out to play in big games.
Coleman Hawkins still going door hard.
Lamar Christian can arrive.
Christian Honey got all the way to the championship Funny COVID 19 now inside and a jump ball ball possession hero to landmark We still have a lot of time try to go for a quick steal here and you don't have to foul immediately but you want to try to get the quick steal but you do not want landmark to run a great deal of time off the clock is the turnover right there and that was due to pressure and the lady devils with a chance right here to take the lead now you don't have to go for a three point shot.
Try to bang it inside to do hard and try to get the three the other way.
But you keep getting two.
You're going to be in good shape A chance to tie rather stop right there by two hard.
So that throws the lady devils back within one and you heart now with 15 pressure in the backboard right there you got to get it across.
That's a lot of bad That's not a bad fall by Breanna Collison.
She tried to get a quick steal.
Now the thrill has to go for Tiffany Paul.
I'm sorry.
He has to go to the line now under pressure to make these three.
So he's got a big thing as you got a box out you got a box out Dave if you're Hopkinsville ten points today, four of ten from the stripe though the junior hoping for better success.
Right here.
A one point game.
Here's the miss lost it on the front end and do heart out of there with it Hopkins there with a chance to take the lead right here knocked away What a great play by Tiffany Hall missed the free throw didn't quit didn't hang her head race down and got the deflection 56 seconds left regulation in that time out on the floor.
It's a full timeout called by coach Lester and the Lady Devils.
Still though a remarkable job.
These ladies were down by 20 at one point in the game and have rallied back within a point here with under a minute to go.
Well I think the big turning point in this game is with Hawkins the other side you know heck with it.
We're going inside and whatever happens, happens.
You know, this year there has been a horse the whole year we're going into.
They fed her, she scores.
She got a couple of quick three point plays.
And that has been the difference here.
Now in the fourth quarter.
And that was 19 do hearts with 15 this see Holmes again with 13.
So those two have really stepped it up since the break.
They only had two by nine points at the break and it really turned it on, as Coach Waller alluded to.
And so we as those missed free throws, those missed free throws, Dave, early in the first second quarter, even in the third quarter, so to speak, that has come back to haunt the Warren Eagleson in Hopkinsville.
Lady Devils, as you see it, 17 2 to 1 and the last 550.
They have never led in this game, but they're hoping to change that right now to heart today, 15 points, nine of them in the fourth quarter.
Watch.
Four do hard to make a diagonal flash to the ball off the inbounds.
Here she comes.
Polson great pass back inside, picks it back out.
Plenty of time here to heart and one shout it out We in the NBA and the continuation Sierra to hearts and Hopkinsville and she got the reach on the floor and that's close Unbelievable The lady devils with their first lead of the afternoon the behind trying to complete the three point play and just so it's a three point game with 48 seconds left Hopkinsville with a two point lead on the number one landmark Christian.
And now it's the way you want Eagles to have to play from behind for the first time today.
And in a pressure situation, the biggest thing, don't panic.
Look for the quick hitter coming out of the out of bounds play.
Look for those feniton.
There it is.
But that's the other way.
Offensive foul though for a quick steal here in landmark then you may have to fire immediately go for a quick steal say I think the ball was on the line there and traveling going to be called on the lady devils so right back to the lady warriors there again, these two teams, they are mirror images of each other.
They both apply pressure.
They both have superstars with both can score down the stretch this time.
Honey cat with the basketball for Coach Waller.
That's who you want the ball in the hands of you in the game is on the line 47 seconds left.
We've seen a lot of great games throughout the course of the last week leading up to these state finals.
Some more good ones last night.
And now a timeout timeout for Fats Waller and landmark.
Christian will talk it over with.
21 seconds left.
This one is shaping up to be another classic here in the state final.
Now, a couple of things.
You got two schools of thought.
One, do you hold the ball down and try to take a three to win it or do you try to get a quick shot down low, Get a good shot, isolate your star in Christian Honeycutt, give her the ball, let her go.
One on five and then kick to the wing in regards to Tiffany Hall.
Or he can dump it down into time in the high stakes.
So he's got a couple of things he can play with.
He plays here.
You're in the bonus, so any time you're fouled, we're back on the line.
Now.
If you are in Hawkins ville, the big thing is here is you've got to rebound.
Ball pressure, no easy cuts to keep for you, man.
Principles do not allow anyone to cut between you and the basketball.
Now make them catch the ball going away from the basket and then what you want You want them to take a long shot and then crash the heck out of the boards.
So we know what Hopkins has done to get back to this ballgame would have LaMarcus have not done it and back.
You know, I think Landmark got away from what got him there.
They kind of took some quick shots which they were doing for Hopkins did it for the first three quarters of the game instead of coming down, run in that shuffle, cut off their offense.
Running the right was looking for their dump deductions and they kind of got away from that in this in the fourth quarter.
Well, last night, these tall lady Vikings won on a last second or 7 seconds, left on a three point shot to beat Kendrick to advance to the triple finals.
Later on tonight.
Will we see a replay of something like that here in the state championship game?
As I say, the best teams at the Hawkins location, double on the ball, very shot, wouldn't go that foul.
You got a foul?
No foul here yet.
And 6 seconds left.
So now all of a sudden, Hopkinsville at the line and they've got a chance to possibly put it away here with a pair of made free throws.
Now, these are big.
No, all is not lost here.
If you landmark Christian, if these two both go wins, you're down four.
You've got to trace it down.
Know obviously you're going to have to shoot a three and hopefully you can get that three when you get nudged done on the foul to tie it up too hard at the line knocks down the first So Landmark knows now that they have to have at least a three point shot to tie it up.
Yes do high doesn't make the second one and we've got another time out on the floor right here.
Now, if the this one goes down or does not go down, excuse me.
If this one does not go down, Landmark can get this rebound.
Take the ball out of bounds.
With 6 seconds to go, you're going to have to look for a three to tie up.
Now, if it does go down if you're Hopkinsville, one thing is you may want to think about doing is foul immediately once the inbound the ball so now it's not the double bonus that puts them back on the line because how many times have you seen teams come down in in a game like situation sheet up the three and tie where the edge is if you foul branded they got to go to the line and shoot the two free throws.
But it's harder to McNeese to make the first one miss the second one get the stick back on the tip and the tip in as opposed to coming down three dribbles up girl throws up the guy throws up the long shot that goes in there.
You look at the three point field goals today, Landmark two of six, Hopkinsville one on the day here.
So they haven't really got anything from behind the arc, but they may not need it.
All they need right now is this one free throw from Sierra High to secure their third state championship.
This doesn't tell Hopkinsville just to go stand next to the bench.
And it's their do of heart with 20.
Don't foul, don't a four point game 4 seconds.
Honeycutt puts up the shot and walks in That is it 45 hits the three but no fouls He is with 22 but it's a one point victory for the Falcons The lady Devils What a comeback.
The story of the tournament 4948 in the celebration is an unbelievable game.
Both teams and a super, super job by both clubs.
You hate to see anybody lose in a game like this, but great, great job by Hopkinsville and Lamar system.
The Lady Devils, The Lady Red Devils of Hopkinsville, your 2007 Jersey State championship champions.
A remarkable effort here.
And I tell you what, Bill, I'm going to have to get my breath before we go any further here today.
But just a remarkable game.
Hawkins Of course, coming back down 20 zero.
Drew Harden with at halftime finished the game with 20.
Unbelievable.

They win it 4948 over number one, landmark Christian down 16 points with six and a half minutes left.
Let's throw it down to Scott Kozlowski, courtside with the winning coach.
Thank you very much, Steve.
I'm here with a very emotional coach.
Lester.
Coach, tell me how this one feels, how wonderful it feels great.
I don't know how it's going to feel, but great.
It feels great.
What were you thinking at halftime?
You were down by 14.
You seemed a little discouraged, but a hell of a comeback.
I know there throughout the season we have been a second half team and I know we can just get back into the way we play.
I know we can pull it out because like I said, we have been a second half team throughout the season.
Well, congratulations on a great game.
Thank you.
Dave Hardy Thank you, Scott.
