Live from the Macon Coliseum in Macon, Georgia, is the class single AA girls State Championship.
The lady Raiders of Savannah Christian take on the two time defending champion Lady Wolves from Wesleyan.
And hello, everybody, and welcome Jon Wilkerson.
Phil Hansen And we think we've got a pretty good match up here in the class single-A state championship game between Savannah, Christian and Wesleyan.
Let's start with Savannah Christian.
And they've got a pretty good player.
Girl likes to bomb it in Adrianna Phillips.
Oh, I love this kid.
She's a shooters shooter.
If she gets her feet set, put it in the book on the defensive end of the floor.
She usually guards the toughest offensive perimeter player on the opponent's team.
And she has unlimited range, too.
So be fun to watch her play.
As we take a look at the Savannah Christian's starting lineup, Brandy Fresh is the other guard, Sarah Bird, the three guard system for Savannah Christian Kelly Reed.
She is going to be fun to watch in this game and this round the other starting five Taylor Turner at forward coached coach Tony Bird wasn't mean for her and her team to be in the finals.
It would be great.
They've overcome a lot of obstacles throughout this entire tournament, so it would be great.
But these kids are kind of the most laid back cute view you're going to see and not much blusters on, but I don't know, it would just be Well, I think it would be great.
I can I don't know what say it, but just the excitement of just being in the championship right now is great.
But to win it would be outstanding.
Thanks, Coach.
Good.
It's been in quite, quite a crazy state tournament for Savannah Christian.
We'll get into that a little later.
But first, let's tell you about the Wesley Lady Wolves and Aaron Hall runs the show for them.
She is definitely a primetime player.
She's got two great assets.
Number one, her head.
She's so calm and cool and collected.
And number two, she's got great hands, great range off.
The jump shot is the catalyst in getting them into their sets.
Here is the Wesleyan starting lineup for today's game.
Erin Hall, Grace Lee Bond, Kennington, Groff, Logan Morris and Holly Wilkins round out the starting five.
And for coach, chances are it's all about being and making the team.
We're always excited to come to make and we love it here and to be back again.
This year is really special, especially for our seniors.
And now these two teams met two years ago in the state semifinals.
Back then it was class.
They were in class Double-A and Wellesley, and came through with that win on their way to the state championship.
All right.
We've shown you the starting lineup, getting you set up, set the table a little bit for you.
Let's do the player intros.
And with that, we go to Eddie Ashley.
Good afternoon again, ladies and gentlemen.
In today's first game, we will have the Savannah Christian Lady Raiders with a record of 21 wins and five losses dressed in red as your visitors on the scoreboard and the Wesleyan Lady Wolves, with a record of 27 wins and four losses dressed in white as your home team.
May I have your attention for the starting line ups first for you visiting Savannah Christian Lady Raiders at guard number 11, a five foot three Sophomore Sarah Bird.
At forward number 15, a six foot junior, Kelly Reed at guard number 20, a five foot seven senior Adrian Phillips at forward number 21, a five foot eight junior, Taylor Turner at guard number 22, a five foot 11 junior, Randy Freese and Savannah Christian's head coach, Troy Byrd.
And now for your Wesleyan Wolves.
At guard number two, a five foot nine senior Aaron Ho at guard number four on six foot Junior Grace Leo, Boom!
Head guard, Number 15, a five foot nine Senior Kennington Grove.
At forward number 20, a five foot 11 senior, Logan Morris at forward number 32, a six foot sophomore.
Harley Wilkins and West Lions head coach Jan Azar.
All right.
So now you know the particulars will tip it off when we come back from the Class C state championship game.
It starts time.
Let's get it started.
Let's get started.
This is we've had some folks suggest that after watching Jon Nelson handle the rock on the camera today, that we need to send him to summer basketball camp, use some of the money for that.
But we're not going to every dollar is going to high school sports.
I still don't know how you do this, but thanks for watching.

So don't do it here, Sportsmanship.
It's up to you.
This is Georgia Public Broadcasting, your PBS station, serving all of Georgia.
And welcome back to the Macon Coliseum.
Before we tip off the girls state single a state championship.
Let's hear from our guy at courtside, Scott Kozlowski.
Thank you very much, John.
At the top of the broadcast, you talked about the importance of Adrian to Philips for Savannah Christian.
She's going to be playing with a very heavy heart today.
Her grandfather, Al, passed away on Thursday.
He was very involved with the Savannah Christian Athletics.
And his one of his final requests was that his funeral would not interfere with this championship game.
So we wish Adrian, her family all the best, drunk and dead.
Recently, we send our condolences out to the Phillips family on the death of Al Scott or Phil Hansen.
Keys to the game.
Oh, I'd say couple of things.
One, tempo is going to be huge death, full court offensive execution, no turnovers, shot selection is a must in most important mental discipline.
Wesleyan on the attack to begin the game That's Grace Lee Bond not there out of bounds it'll go to the LA Raiders need to go in there with that left hand on that layup there John how important is it still for Savannah Christian to get off to a great start?
Oh, it's huge.
They have to avoid the early knockout.
Wesleyan is known to put their opponents away within the first 2 minutes of the game.
And then once they're gone, it's, you know, Hello Alex.
Thanks for playing.
Where are my steak knives?
The game's over.
Full court pressure.
Yeah, we've seen that all day.
Aaron Hall knocks it out of bounds.
A couple of things, John.
Against this press, you want to have three available receivers in a long diagonal pass, a short and a long are a must throw 45 degree angle passes nothing horizontal.
We call time out here Savannah Christian unable to get the ball in bounds and so a turnover goes to the lady wall.
Coach Azar does a real good job at the press.
She changes it up.
Sometimes she'll guard the inbound or at the time she doesn't trap the first inbound pass.
That's Wilkins inside, trying to maneuver short on the short jumper, tapped out, and Carrington groff comes away with the loose ball.
Here's Grace.
Leap on for three.
Not there.
Knocked out of bounds.
It'll go to Savannah Christian The luxury that Wesleyan has is they basically have five guards on the floor, whether that's their bigs or their smalls.
They everybody can handle the ball and everybody can pass.
And defensively, that's a plus there because there's no matchup problem on a switch as a McKenzie comes in for Grace Lee Bond there's the trap of the first inbound If they swing it now splash somebody's middle and then reverse it opposite.
They may get something out of this.
There is the 10 seconds.
There it is.
And girls basketball, high school basketball.
That's the Phillips with the ball shot No good by Sarah Byrd.
And here comes Wesleyan.
They've got to get back a left blocked.
Well I really like Reed.
She sets the tempo for their defense She's got great long arms can play a smaller player or a bigger player in the post.
And of course, the Raiders want to be patient, though there is a pass on the turnover.
Great play by Phillips.
Couldn't save it from going out of bounds and it'll go to Wesleyan.
The Savannah Christian has taken the early punch and is still in here swinging.
Here's the great play by Adrian Phillips.
Great hustle play.
If you're trying to save that ball, throw it to the basket that you're going to attack as opposed to back to your basket.
We're just underway in the girls state championship game.
It's our single day.
Look on Christian Wesleyan.
Watch Paul coming off a double screen here.
They were in a lot of sets for her bracelet Bond with the basketball man to man Defense by Savannah Christian in more ball pressure may be needed there Bond with the drive still haven't scored in this game and I'll go to Savannah Christian Well Reid had a lot to do with that coming over to contest that shot did a superb job of taking her inside hand and going over their opponents outside shoulder.
So we've got about a minute and a half.
As you take a look at Asia, McKenzie has checked in and then some a right to the middle scoring a turn.
And look at this route.
Here's the Phillips two on one.
And it felt as traveled in the lane.
That's all right.
What you want to do against the press is you've got to look to score.
You've got if you just try to go down and pull it out, they're going to press you all day long.
You've got to look to score against that pressure.
You think feel.
Both teams are kind of feeling the pressure of this game, being a championship game a little bit in.
I think Savannah Christian's length is getting less than a little bit of trouble.
Shot No Good by Isaiah McKenzie, but Covington can draw for the offensive boards.
So if you're long, John, you don't have to close out as far flung and more as calling for the ball but can't finish and Kelly Reed comes down with the rebound he frees gives them that be in Savannah Christian the option is a big guard when she rebounds at the break and start she's basically right handed they're going to force a left all day and a turnover Asia Mackenzie leaning got to stop the ball there's Morris I love this I love this kid.
Morris is a great player.
He usually guards the biggest post defensively and offensively.
She kind of She's the catalyst.
What they want to do.
Morris breaks the ice.
So many Christian breaks the press block by Haley Wilkins on the drive by Sarah Byrd.
These things mirror each other in so many facets of the game.
Both have long arms in contests, all shots to Phillips, the inbound block for Phillips coming off the baseline screen.
There it is.
But Holly Wilkins was there to the pass.
Here's Reid not there.
And you go to the Raiders and that's the shot that Kelly Reid wants right there in the post.
The little spin.
Well, she's post on that left block and then turns off that right leg all day long.
Oh, God.
Pass the rim.
Let's pass.
We're time.
We got to see ball you and the man every time.
Kelly Reid at 16 points in the semifinal on Wednesday night, 14 points in the quarters.
Oh, there's Wilkins and she took steps in.
A lot of that had to do with Reid's defense playing behind Wilkins there in the Post.
She's going to play in the three quarter front one time.
This time she played directly behind her, Tony Byrd.
In her sixth year.
She got win number 100 in the semifinals on Wednesday night.
This is the first trip ever to the state finals for Savannah Christian.
I mentioned the swing.
It got to go get it and their turnover to Phillips.
Now they got to look for him in a three on two and Kelly Reid now that's what you got to do against that press John you've got to punish that press.
You got to take it right to the basket.
You can't pull it back out.
The Raiders have the lead.
Wesley He's put in Kaitlyn Caswell in for a little inside presence.
That's him.
But Frazier and Frazier, it's no good.
And the jump ball goes to the Raiders.
What we talked about earlier in the free pre broadcast talk, how loose Savannah Christian is, they're just playing with their ears laid back and going at them.
We're going to take a break with Savannah Christian living 42 and the girls single-A state championship game.

By the way, feel Wesleyan one of nine home field goals.
So far on these two little bunny layups.
And there's a steal and Brittney Stephens is fouled inside.
Take a look at Brittney Stephens.
Foul is on Sarah Bird.
They'll be here first.
Here comes wholesale changes by Wesleyan.
They had the luxury they have two teams that could play could start for anybody in the high school basketball.
Their seconds group is just as strong as their first 18 beat team here.
Aaron Hall with a long three as we talked about, if she gets her feet, said she'll make that all night long.
Wesleyan takes the lead and there's that full court pressure trying to force Savannah Christian the bad decisions Good pass and there's D Philip D Phillips with the ball threes all this week Boy she active inside with Savannah Christian is doing a good job against this pressure is attacking the middle of the floor thinking like an expressway You've got three expressways down the court and they're keeping the ball in the middle.
McKenzie misses and Brandi Frees comes away with the rebound.
There's Sarah Burke inside the Turner.
She can't hit Logan.
Morris comes away at the rebound.
That's the type of game where Logan Morris plays of the little things she was calling for the ball Yes.
McKenzie Mr.
There Kinsey the Jumper and No Good by Holly Wilkins.
And there's Randy Frese with another rebound.
Bring it up and steal by Hall.
She got great hands not there and now she fouls trying to recover fouling Sarah Bird and seems like there's a cap on that basket for Leslie in this first quarter.
Well those shots are going to fall down the road if they keep getting four and three footers inside that Savannah Christian can not allow Wesley to shoot layups throughout the game.
How is Savannah Christian handling this full court pressure?
What they're doing is they're bringing the ball to one side of the floor.
Then they're flashing a man to the middle of the floor.
And when that pass goes middle, they're able to swing it or kick it up the backside.
And that's how you're going to beat most presses.
Now, they got to bring somebody to the center hard.
The other luxury they have is they're throwing it to Reed, who's tall, and she can post up the guard that she's trying to pin Kenny Carrington.
Groff knocks it out of bounds at the luxury Savannah Christian has is that threes can really handle the ball for her size.
Well Troy Bird, call her the best ball handler on the team.
There's a turnover Holly Wilkins leading the break over the and hall threes trying to stop her but can't great body control there by Aaron Hall There's the flash now look opposite there it is vertical to it He flips on a two on one wild looking shot not there but the rebound by Turner Good boards good boards he felt good are probably passed that off to her early but way to stay in the play Taylor Turner that's Logan Morris on the spin spin no call rebound by Turner so this is the matchup problem that's given Wesley and Fitz with three He's been able to bring up the ball against one of the slower drives.
That's the first two points for Adrian Phillips and it's a three point lead for Savannah Christian depth is going to be huge in this game like we talked about in the Keys, because Wesley keeps bringing in five every 3 minutes.
Savannah Christian plays about six and that's about it.
There's Wilkins inside.
That kid has really improved.
That being Wilkins, she can really score now.
Holly Wilkins, she's the daughter of Gerald Wilkins, a niece of Dominique Wilkins and Sara Bird.
It's foul by Erin Hall.
So against that pressure, you have got to go down there and get points.
You just can't race it down there and miss that.
Miss layups, you've got to score.
That is two personals on and hall that's big especially this early with 109 to go in the first Sarah Byrd at the line and just the sophomore she became a starter in the first round of the tournament when Abby Sparks suffered a high ankle sprain.
And coach Byrd says she's done become more confident as a starter and gotten better with each game empty trip there.
We got to make you free throws.
Not like this kid a lot.
Brittney Stephens is the energizer for the Wesleyan offense.
She comes in and goes full throttle.
Well, she brings the energy level to an 11 for Wesleyan.
She goes all game Byrd with the shot and fell one point Wesleyan lead as Missy Byrd got look up got to look up Sarah Byrd with it.
Randy Freese transfer from Saint Vincent.
This is her first year with the Raiders and she's fit right in there.
Be right with that spin move and she's fouled.
That's a bad foul ball and probably wish she had that one back.
Grace Lieberman with her first personal three.
Here's that post move by Kelly Reed.
She got to go off that right leg all the time.
She's going to post on that left block and spin off that right leg, trying to go off the window.
Just the junior.
And she's scored in double figures throughout this tournament.
And she gives the Raiders a one point lead as we reach the end of the first quarter.
There's Stevens and she's fouled.
That's all due to penetration.
Great job Sarah Bird called on that one.
Well you you talk about Brittney Stevens I told coaches ah she's my favorite player in this tournament just she's fun to watch Only a freshman And coach Azar said she's probably the best freshman point guard she's ever seen, so she's had some good ones.
We said the luckiest kids and she's had a whole stable over there at Wesleyan, got great personnel and an empty trip that time for Stevens as she's all over Randy Frese Wesleyan in a man to man defense the seconds to go look for a second count There is Reed Great.
You got to force Reed to the right.
You can't let it keep going in the left route.
And we've come to the end of the first quarter in the Raider.
Fans on their feet Savannah Christian up by three.
Thanks for watching.

Welcome back to the girls state championship game.
And the Savannah Christian fans are going crazy as their lady.
Raiders are up 14 to 11 on the defending champion Wesleyan Lady Wolves Wesleyan shooting 29% in that first quarter.
Kelly Reed for Savannah Christian off to a blazing start five of four from the field Perfect two of two from the free throw line.
She's got ten points to lead the Raiders Well the big three for Savannah Christian Reed the Phillips and frees have really come to play and there's a steal by freeze to take it all the way Oh not there and Logan Morris on the rebound Here she comes There's Stevens she got three on one and Groff can't finish gets it cut there Kelly Reed on the rebound Boy this was a scrappy bunch from Savannah Christian the difference in the game scoring wise or the miss layups that Wesleyan has been enabled to knock down the field for 300 no.
Oh, my.
You got to call that one at the playground.
John 17 to 11.
Savannah Christian Here's Stevens.
She can't hit Croft with the rebound inside out to two Jordan Frazier Now back to Stevens They'll calm things down for the Lady Wolves.
Wesleyan is a very composed team Logan Morris no great rebound the girl on the floor Brittney Stevens with the rebound Morris drives can't get the roll Wilkins is fouled by Kelly Reed Wilkins has got great great long arms and she gets keeps the ball above her head She plays is about six feet tall.
She plays about six to reverse the 31st foul on Kelly Reed as substitution Grace Lee Bond Leah Bond comes in for Wesleyan Morris with a drive kicks it back out to Stevens There's Frazier for three That's a big shot Great pass by Stevens Drive draw and dish hit the open man Step in there and knock down that three man to man pressure again.
They're not guarding the ambassador.
They'll trap the first pass the three point lead and Frazier with the steal and the Phillips with a block.
But she got it with the body.
Woo!
That press is kind of a chess match going here.
Coach Azar's changing up the press.
They face guarded.
Meaning you stand between your man and the ball hoping to get the long air pass and have it deflected that which happened in that case.
Jordan Frazier, just a sophomore look for Savannah Christian to throw the ball along, just to get that into the heads of the Wesleyan team, that they will go long off the press breaker one of two on that trip and Randy frees at 511 only a junior plays point guard and there's a steal by Logan Morris and she'll take it all the way.
Not there but you get her own rebound.
She's a Bama boy and there's Reed with another rebound.
If they double team the ball, then it's a numbers game.
If you got to guard one, then there's a three on four on the other way down the floor.
And and Randy Frese hadn't established himself in the front court General Jay Cutler on the over and that and Phil she was in the front court but she was in the air and she had an established sack.
So you got to be you have to establish yourself in the front court when you come across.
That's a 10th turnover for the Savannah Christian Lady Raiders.
That's Frazier driving slowly back to Croft.
That jumper won't go.
And here's Kelly Reed with another board.
Her ability to rebound is keeping Savannah Christian believe superb big shot Yeah it's a four point lead there's Stevens kicking it out to Frazier and Frazier is fouled by frees you're right still Kelly Reed and her ability to get the key rebounds has really been the key for Savannah Christian if you want to win the rings you must rebound the basketball Here's the three by the Phillips earlier in the game off window.
Back back to the live action a33 hall not there Reed with another board Randy Freese at 511 the junior bringing the ball up There's Reed posting that left block again and Reed with three girls around her little too much and Carrington groff leading the break Here's hall hall taking on the Philips great block and Wilkins is there Wilkins can score inside she is a consummate low post player Four points for Wilkins two points Savannah Christian lead bird bring in swing air speed inside back to the Philips.
A little high low action frizzle drive got bumped she got bumped to believe came think Roth got it You got to play defense with your feet John you can't reach in especially if you're going to foul.
Don't let your opponent get their hands above their shoulders.
You do.
You do not want any three point plays.
We took a look at the season stats for Randy Freese, averaging 7.5 points per game.
I mentioned she transferred from St Vincent's this year and her coach Troy Bird, in her first year with the program says she's the straw that stirs the coffee and that's a stiff drink.
A great ball handler of 511.
How often do you see 511 point guards in girls basketball?
We're going to take a break Here at the Macon Coliseum.
Savannah Christian leads 21 to 17.

Welcome back to the Making Colosseum.
Ever wonder how the Masters came to be in Augusta?
Here's a hint.
General Sherman played a role.
Watch Augusta's master plan, a GP original Easter Sunday, April 4th at 8 p.m. on GPB television with sharing.
Well, Phil Hansen, who would you hand out the green jacket to so far in the second quarter?
Oh, definitely.
I have to go with Reed.
I think she's totally set in that the for Savannah Christian.
I think the way that you have to attack Western is AF to attack their pressure.
You've got to match their toughness and you must finish plays.
There's Frazier on the drive and she's foul.
That's a luxury coach Azar has.
She's got Frazier, she's got McKenzie, she's got Stephens.
All can handle the point position Adrian Phillips going in the foul.
Keep an eye on the fouls for Savannah Christian they cannot afford to lose their big guns man Frazier is just a sophomore, averaging 4.5 points per game.
It's 11 points in the quarterfinals.
And here comes Brittney Stephens.
Check in for Aaron.
All keep that full court pressure.
They're going to face guard and then they're going to double the first pass.
Here they come.
They got it in the hands of Randy Frese, deflected by Grace Lieberman.
They got to look Middle Sarah Bird recovers and she's great.
Remember the ten second call in Girl High school basketball?
Great pass read.
Look at that great catch and wait a finish against the press.
You've got to burn that press every chance you get.
If not, they're going to kill you.
12 points for Kelly Reed Frazier.
Oh, great pass inside Wilkinson's attacked by.
He thought that's the kind of foul.
As a coach, you want to go just jump in the river.
I mean, you just kills you.
Those reach fouls, you can't have that.
Plus that's her third and they can't lose to Phillips this early welcome with 355 to go in the second.
Wilkins with the free throw.
So this is the double whammy John not only do you get the Phillips, you have to come out of the game with three fouls.
Wesley is now allowed to score with no time elapsing off the clock.
Kaitlyn Cosmo, number 44, checks in for Wesleyan at six three.
It's one of two for Hallie Wilkins and Dandy Free stepped out of bounds It'll be Wesleyan basketball pressure will do that to you and Vincent at the top of the shell.
These two teams met two years ago in the class double AA semifinals here at the Macon Cineplex for a little high, low action with Wilkins and Carswell Wesleyan, one that handily Kelly Reed and Andre Adrian to Philips were starters on that Savannah Christian team two years ago and really calling the foul and Holli Wilkins rebounds will step slow three there defensively that's why she got the reach Oh second thought personal foul on Charlie Reed that puts Wesley in the bonus with 330 to go in the second alley Wilkins had 15 points 13 rebounds in the semi against Saint Francis in the quarterfinals lane violation So that won't count.
That's just mental discipline.
You got to know where you're standing.
Jan are in her 13th year as head coach.
She's got six state championships, is going for three in a row for seven.
And there's a steal by Stephens out of bounds.
It'll stay with the Lady wolves when Wesleyan presses and they put Caswell on the ball being six three and she's got tremendously long arms makes that entry pass extremely hard for Savannah Christian I'm curious field you think halftime can't come soon enough for Savannah Christian right now.
Well not really They got the Phillips with three fouls That's not a great thing but they are up two.
I'm just one of those swinging momentum now the Wesley Bell definitely the depth now is starting to play a key here for Wesleyan.
Logan Morris hits a three.
I'm telling to get Leslie in the league.
She's my silent MVP.
I love this kid.
He's still up, still in the ball game with three personal fouls, gets it out to freeze to go to the past good pass has inside the Turner great court vision as a point guard you must have court vision Taylor Turner now with four points they give Savannah Christian a leaner Stevens look at our go We've got to have some more help side defense there John is be a long night, Wesley and back in the lead now get it and go play been a walk there and a region called on Kennington Groff who the pressure now John is starting to take an effect because you've had to go against this now for almost two straight quarters.
Abby Sparks checks in number 23 for Savannah Christian.
She was a starter up until the Dooley County game in the first round when she rolled her ankle.
It turned out to be a high ankle sprain.
She hasn't seen the action until the semifinal game.
That was limited action at best.
She's got a very good secondary handle, though She'll help them with the pressure and try to get that inside to Taylor Turner.
Out of bounds.
John.
Any time you want to feed the post, you want to try to make that pass below the foul line extended, which gives you a better angle if you try to throw it in that high, the defense now gets the advantage, is able to get the deflection.
Two and a half minutes to go until halftime.
Wesleyan going for their third state championship in a row.
They won the double eight in 2008 single-A last year and a drive by Jordan Frazier not there rebound by Wilkins great inside rebounding position by Wilkins gives her a going to go get the brain across the Philips good grass pass but Abby Sparks can handle it and he can make a pass She may want a bounce pass into the post in the air pass out especially when you're running on a 45 degree angle, you can see that ball better and catch it and go up in momentum and score.
It's a good look.
Bounce pass, it's a layup.
Sparks looks like she's laboring a little bit with that ankle.
She get all the rest of the year to heal.
14 turnovers We're seeing Randy Christian, only three for the Lady Wolves.
The Wesleyan triple penetration has got Wesley in back in this thing.
Wilkins There they go.
Oh, goodness.
That puts her in double figures.
The lead is it is six D Phillips She can handle the ball well.
Little scoop that there.
The rebound is good though Good play by Turner Got it One that was too quick in the shot though it got the shot you really want But again the press makes you do that makes you take quick shots and that's as good as the turnovers.
Oh, look at that move by Logan Morris.
Can't finish there.
Stevens boy she's everywhere on the court was dribble penetration is really starting to hurt Savannah Christian under a minute Wilkins and she's found green I was freeze inside and you can solely attribute that to Wesley In's defense having to go against that pressure and that full court press is now taking its toll on Savannah Christian in the halfcourt set defensively his second personal move to freeze since Holly Wilkins to the line her most important thing in this game, John, is your feet.
You don't move your feet you're going to be you're done 12.6 rebounds for Hallie Wilkins in this first half.
She had 15 in the semifinals, 15 points, 13 rebounds in the quarters and makes two on that trip to the free throw line.
Kaitlyn Caldwell comes in for Wesleyan, as is Asia.
Mackenzie Yeah, they just didn't get the pass in before the 5 seconds was out of bounds.
See, by face guarding your opponent, you're hoping to get the long air pass and which in that case it happened in Savannah.
Christian threw it out of bounds.
Good job by the Wesleyan defense.
Do you get the feeling just look at the body language of Savannah Christian that pressure really becomes very intense.
There's cross on the follow.
That's a great point, John.
Now they're getting the easy stick back and they're knocking those layups down.
Look for them, look for Savannah Christian to get the last shot of this quarter and a near steal in a steal by Frazier but freeze trying to steal it back those two battling Well you think the state championship the game thing for them here's Reed on a two on to two Phillips can't handle a pass but first is there a foul is called an Asian McKenzie that's pretty helter skelter Great play by Reed she didn't give up on the play some kids with they make a mistake they stop.
She scrambled in there.
If you made the turnover, you got to be the first person.
Go back and get it frees up and we go to Wesleyan and they're being a little quick.
You could have got that shot any time you want it in your offense.
Look for Wesley.
Take the last shot of the half here.
Here we go.
John under ten dropped Frazier trying to feed Carswell.
Got to shoot it logo Morris's shot was nothing air and that's the end of the first half.
Well, of the first half in this game, Wesleyan takes the lead 35 to 27.
And again, a move a lot of momentum switches throughout the first half.
Deathly depth and the defensive pressure by Wesleyan definitely took care of business in the second quarter.
Now let's hear from Coach Azar with Scott Kozlowski Coaches.
Ah, give me your assessment of this first half of what?
Of the first half.
I mean, we're doing a horrible job defensively.
We've got to do a much better job on our press rotating the right way.
So I think if we can up the intensity defensively that we'll be okay in the second half.
Thank you very much and good luck in the second half.
All right.
Thank you.
Scott Moore coming here from Georgia Public Broadcasting, 12 Wesleyan, up 3527.
As we go to halftime.
Move it, move it.
Good.
Let's do it.

You like Google TV?
Hey, do We're going to get right back to some more of that great high school basketball action.
We're going to take 5 minutes right now.
That's right.
Just 5 minutes to get you to join team.
And it's going to be a very important 5 minutes because if you want to watch more high school basketball, not this year.
We're going to continue to have the games for the rest of this year.
But four down the road, the future years and years down the road, you want to keep the great high school basketball coming on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
There's one way to do it, John.
How do you do that?
By becoming an MVP for GPB, one of our most valuable players.
And how do you do that?
By becoming a member, a part of the team here at Georgia Public Broadcasting.
Plenty of different ways to do it.
Herb has been here a number of years, just about that long.
And I know one thing At the $35 level, you can become a member of Georgia Public Broadcasting.
That's right.
You get a foldable stadium cushion with the GPB logo to watch great high school football next year, which will be on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
And then if you decide you can join at the $75 level, which is only $6.25 a month, you'll get that GPB roll up blanket and you'll also get the satisfaction of knowing you're keeping great high school sports on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
You know, John, we started doing some new things this year.
We've gone to the Webcasts.
You know, we did a football game of the week every game, every week this year in high school football.
And we also did a basketball game of the week and tell them about the webcast coming up for basketball championship, you know, basketball championships.
And we've always streamed those.
But also before we got to the championships, you know, you got to have quarterfinals, you got to have semifinals before you determine your champions.
And that was on the Web as well.
And we've always thought that it's not just about television.
You have to talk about all the different ways and angles that you can get the product out there.
And the Internet is definitely one of the ways that's helped us get the product out there in a lot of different hours.
You know, you talk about television of GPB alone over the span of a year, just programing.
You're talking over 3000 hours of original programing.
Then add the 300 hours of championships that we've shown on GPB alone.
Then you add to that all the elements that we've done on the Internet.
So we've really are becoming the statewide voice for high school athletics.
But once again, we can't do it without your help being an MVP for GPB.
Herb's already talked about some of the thank you's.
Let's talk about some more of the thank you's and we talk about combos and you go to the $125 level and that's our first combo.
It's a GPB logo thermos for your favorite beverage, you stadium cushion, depending on what sports you like, whatever stadium you're in, indoors or outdoors, it works just as well in your wallet.
Throw blanket at $125 level a little over $10 a month for support there.
And you want to talk about combos?
We got mega combos.
I still don't know what the plural for thermos is.
There's two GPB logo thermoses.
You get two foldable stadium cushions and a roll up for a blanket, hundred and $75 level.
You do that by calling the number at the bottom of your screen going on a secure server, the GPB Borg.
Or you can do it from your AT&T mobile phone by going pound GPB, become member of the team, continue to be a member of the team, continue to show your support for the only statewide voice that high school athletics has heard, and that is Georgia Public Broadcasting.
It has been for 16 years and we want to do it for another 116 years.
Yeah, if you want to give somebody your email out there, John, I'm one of the people that know a little bit about the English language can probably help you with that person at GPB.
B dot org.
There you go.
My mother was an English major and I still don't know what thermos plural is.
I don't either, but we're going to get back to that in a little while.
As soon as somebody tells us what the correct answer is.
But the correct answer right now is how do you help Georgia Public Broadcasting keep great high school sports on the air?
Well, that's a simple answer.
I even know the answer to that one simple question, because the answer is you go to your phone, you pick it up and you talk to one of the folks there and you say, I want to help high school sports stay on the air in Georgia.
Don't forget Georgia Public Broadcasting, along with all the public broadcasting, has voted seven years in a row by a poll, the most trusted institution in the country.
So that means you can set your kids down in front of the television, as you know you do during the day.
You know, they're going to see quality programing throughout the day.
You don't have to worry about them being there.
They're going to learn.
They're going to learn values.
You can set them.
You can come home in the evening.
You can turn on the Jim Lehrer News Hour.
You know, you're going to get the Square story, not one side of the other, but the square truth about the news.
Keep Georgia Public Broadcasting's programing coming.
The way to do that, become a member.
Yes, we have the great thank you gifts.
But again, the thank you gift the most valuable thank you gift, as always, is going to be what we do for you and what we do for your family and what we do for your community.
Go to your phone.
Become a member right now.
Let's go see some more high school basketball.

For Hansen, let's take a look at the first half highlights from the state championship game.
All right.
You are a Jon great save here, unfortunately was picked off by McKenzie.
She takes the ball straight up the floor.
Great pass to Morris goes up strong her say I love this kid she can really finish.
And how about this kid Kelly Reed.
She has kept them in the ballgame.
I mean, she's killing that left side.
Great shot by Hall and she gets her feet set count.
It's great.
Bounce pass.
You always want a bounce pass in the post again Reed is killing a Wesleyan left side of that defense Now love break ft stop and make that layup on a dime Great job by Hall in what?
Savannah Christian is doing a great job of scoring against the Wesleyan pressure Nice shot by Phillips Brees with a nice breakdown off the dribble and there she's going to go left that being Reed and she's going to make that nine times out of ten good Throw the ball the middle of the press Skip it opposite.
Get your feet Set two Phillips Going to bank that three in all day long.
Yeah the Phillips hasn't come on track to happen.
This girl has.
Oh, I'm done.
Frazier She's really got him going early.
Another great pass, great film.
She gets pressure from Brittney Stevens.
You got to love her.
She goes north and south of the basketball.
Great court vision, great play by Pennington Drop off the boards and here on your first half stat line And of course it skewed a little bit toward Savannah Christian although the score they're trailing in the score.
Well, yes, but a lot of that, though, is Savannah Christian's ability to score off basically three foot shots off layups.
Points off turnovers.
You've got ten points there for Savannah Christian.
All right.
Let's go to the Scott Counts Ask you with Troy Bird.
Thank you, John.
I'm here with Coach Bird down by eight at the half.
What did you tell your team at halftime?
We got to rebound We had six I think offensively we let them have six offensive rebounds and got back to points on their end and we got to watch our fouls.
Well, apparently it's not, you know, we just got to watch our reaching in and stuff.
So as long as we contain them and play our game, we should be able to pull out as long as we have legs.
Well, best of luck in the second half, Coach Johnson.
You know, it's been quite an adventure in the state tournament for Savannah Christian on the way back home from Columbus after defeating Calvary Day, their bus ran out of gas on the eggs before they exit the school.
So the entire team pushed the bus to a gas station, then coming to the semi finals.
You remember it was a monsoon all over Georgia and their bus leaked and their uniforms were soaked.
Then coming to the game, to the finals, their bus broke down.
They had a caravan with parents as Kenneth grabbed her teammates to turn over the caravan with parents who are trailing behind them.
And then the car that Coach Bird was was riding in was pulled over by the police for speeding.
They somehow got out that ticket and here they are and find another mode of transportation, get a horse.
It's been quite an excellent adventure for the Raiders are hoping it ends with a state championship.
Hey Phillips has a pass knocked away by Logan Morris and Frazier with a left for a quick time out here for Savannah Christian.
The 32nd probably Savannah Christian comes out a little flat out of the locker room.
Definitely.
They had that early turnover.
We just saw it.
And then the pass into the post was an air pass and needs to be a bounce pass the Post great kick ahead.
Nice play by Frazier on the lay up.
By the way, Wesleyan closed the first half on a 16 to 4 run and they've continue that run Well that's what you know if you look at the stat sheet, like we said, Wesleyan has got ten points due to turnovers now, 14 two to start off this quarter to start off the half Wesleyan going for their third straight state championship.
What's Savannah Christian has to avoid here is the URL is is the early knockout in the second half because Wesleyan will do this to you.
Next thing know you're up ten, you're up five.
Then all of a sudden you're down four, you're down ten and you're down 30 at full court press.
It's really taking its toll.
Now look middle.
Now come and get it and swing it opposite.
That's it.
Look down low.
There's threes, if you like.
Pass the turner and rebound by Wesley And here's team to go off in the break Jordan Frazier all alone not there and Taylor Turner on the rebound they want to get it frees his hand She's the best ball handler on the team at 511 knocked out of bounds a goal the Wesleyan.
What I really like about Wesleyan defense here is Savannah Christian has not really been able to run a halfcourt set all night.
It's just try to break the pressure, come down, get a shot, make it or miss it.
And that's the beauty of their pressure.
Plus Wesleyan is depth, but when you look at the body language of Savannah Christian, I'm not saying they look defeated, but they really look like a lot of the energy has been sat out by that press and they've been taking a lot of punches all game and figuratively due to this pressure and another turnover and cross is fouled might be on freeze as we talked about mental discipline when things go bad John you can't go with them You're so you never want to make a pass underneath your basket like that especially a lateral pass that's going to be an assist to the other team.
More times than not, changing growth at the line five eight senior in the second round, she had 16 points, eight assists against towns counting them in the second round.
She's averaging 12 points per game in the state tournament really upped the game is played by Morris Morris great play now look to attack or they can clear out little brain up the backside That's not a good pass and another near turnover now cut D Phillips can't hit the shot but Sarah Byrd on the offensive board and it's stolen by Jordan Frazier freeze on the trail and she needs another time out here for Savannah Great basket and that's freeze up before they can't afford to lose her Look at Jordan Frazier.
Go all the way.
See if you take your inside hand.
Well, there's a great steal there by Frazier.
But if you take your inside hand, the one closest to the middle of the floor and go over your opponent's outside shoulder, your body's never going to touch them.
Randy Freeze has four personal fouls.
She's still in the game, but they have to have her.
But she's going to have to put that aggression on defense.
Still handsome.
This is maybe the second offensive set that Savannah Christian's been able to run.
Can I call you Blake?
And Leslie has a good pass.
He shot.
Oh, what a great play.
What a move without the basketball.
A nice pass by Reed.
Great cut by the Philips.
That puts the Philips in double figures Lots of travel Stephens on the travel Savannah Christian will get the ball back All right now you're going to be able to catch a second wind here You get your second breath, come down, score and get a quick stop.
And you're right back in the mix.
Well, Savannah Christian needs to get establish some kind of run.
Abby Sparks has checked in the game inbounding the ball at the Phillips now look opposite now look opposite again.
There you go.
Kelly Reed he's had a huge game in the post their turnover they all go there battling for it and to jump ball go to the Wesley and Lady Wall that's all set up by Frazier's great on ball defense.
She's putting so much pressure on Sarah Bird and she's making it real tough for her to make that entry pass offensive look also great denied defense by Wesleyan, which is making the receiver for Savannah Christian have to catch the ball higher on the floor, which is affecting the timing in the halfcourt set for Savannah Christian Wesleyan trying to make history today.
First, if you're watching the Lady Wolves in the Girls State Championship game, the boys play Woodfield Academy immediately following this, the Wesleyan Boys and Wesleyan has a chance to sweep two state championships and class single AA.
They'll do it for the second time and if they do that, they'll be the first school in Georgia high school history to have two suites of girls and boys basketball state championships.
Columbia has the opportunity to make through the sweep as well as they play in the three AA championship game.
We'll take a break here at the Macon Coliseum and Wesleyan up 42 to none.
Back after this broadcast of today's games is made possible in part by the following broadcast of this program is made possible in part by the Georgia High School Association.
The GHC would like to thank State Farm for their support of high school sports programing on GPB.
State Farm agents are proud of the achievements of Georgia student athletes and would like to remind families and teams to drive safely in your communities as you travel to work, school or play.
State Farm wants what you want safe driving for you and your family.
Welcome back to the Macon Coliseum was know 4229.
Savannah Christian has committed 21 turnovers so far and that's all because of that relentless pressure by the lady wolves.
It's kind of like the great Alabama teams with Bear Bryant.
You know after in about the third quarter they just start wearing you down And this year Phillip's on the travel so Wesley and I'll be turnover number 22 now Savannah Christian to get back in this thing has got to do it on the defensive end of the floor.
The offense will take care of itself.
So they have to start taking chances on defense.
They just got to play solid.
The dribble penetration, killing them.
Holly Wilkins And she's had a great game in the post.
She can score You can't let her sit down where she practices every day.
You got to make her move.
Another near turnover.
D Phillips running the three on two and there's Reed Not this time.
Wilkins running the break.
He got to get back.
Nobody back for Savannah Christian we have a great defensive play by Sara Byrd shot no good out of bounds and will stay with Wesley and that's a great play by Byrd She got back there basically on three on one stop the ball deflected the pass outstanding effort that was all sheer hustle.
Watch the flash.
Here's Morris with a short jumper that their lead over the board.
Kelly Reed's been quiet the second half.
She needs to step up.
They need her.
She's the best scoring option in the post as D Phillips is double team this really got that drive and tried to pass it third to pass it to Taylor Turner but it's intercepted and here's Grace leap on and go slow it down and Morris will take the three not there and over the back called on Grace Lee Yvonne nice job by the fill up she got inside of grace Le'Veon and ball and got the over the back call second foul on the JR You got to get put your butt on her thigh and sit down on that defensive Reed trapped the pressure's killing Savannah's Christians spacing offensively Well it's totally totally taken them out of rhythm Turner and Byrd will take the shot that'll get your will Sarah Byrd with four points.
Now they need a defensive stop here.
There is there isn't a 13 point play in basketball.
You got to keep getting in this thing piece by piece.
Still a lot of time to play.
Oh, great.
Look inside.
The Wilkins couldn't handle the turnover.
Savannah Christian trying to start a run here and D Phillips as a swiped away another turnover and knocked out of bounds.
It'll go to Wesleyan getting physical Kelly Reed try to force a turnover there it's getting physical more substitutions Kaitlyn Caldwell comes in see Brittney Stephens the five three freshman and that's a stretch when you say she's five three, you know coaches are and Wesleyan, they're like Noah's Ark.
They have two of everything.
It's such a great luxury to the fact that when they make a sub, they don't lose anything on the substitution.
There's kurzawa at six three inside.
Can't get it.
Great one with a rebound.
It's not there.
D Phillips fighting inside and we have a foul inside.
I believe it's born from the call on this one.
Great rebound though by ball and now it is Grace Lee Ball and call on the foul line to third and Savannah Christian with a ten rebound advantage over Wesleyan but on the scoreboard they're down and there is a steal by Jordan Frazier the turnover is going to kill you She's in double figures with 11 you never want to save that ball in your own basket.
Throw it to the goal.
You're attack and great hustle play by Reed knocked out of bounds goes to Wesleyan Savannah Christian just got to relax look for a time out here and toy board wants a timeout and I wish will be granted well well you want to chat live during the game join the conversation now and all week and a GPB dawgs basketball and go behind the scenes during the championship games all weekend long on Twitter.
Use the hashtag pound GPB Final five so join the conversation and tell us what you.
This is the first of six basketball games here on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
We have the boys first single state championship to follow Wesley and and Whitfield Academy in that one.
Then the two girls take to the floor, Buford and Vidalia, followed by the boys to a state championship game, Thomasville and Greater Atlanta Christian.
That game tip off, approaching about 445.
That'll be a good one to watch.
Here we go to Class three eight.
However, Atlanta taking on Columbia, 7:00 tip, and then the boys tip it off after the girls.
845 Columbia and Lagrange in their three eight boys state championship game, Columbia with a chance to sweep the three eight state championship.
We mentioned that Wesleyan has that opportunity as well.
They did it back in 2008 as a two way score.
They'll become the first school in Georgia high school basketball history to sweep the state championships in basketball twice.
Logan Morris And that spins out no girl but she gets the board and the foul.
The kid never stops playing.
She goes north and south being Morris she shot three didn't make it was the first person to rebound her own shot and put back the stick back.
Excellent job.
Well, just about you know, coaches are telling me on Thursday that Logan Morris is the type of kid just doesn't show up in the scoreboard score book.
I mean she's top and everything, but she does such the little things so well.
So she's the glue.
She gets them going.
After she graduates from Wesleyan, she'll head to Wofford, Stevens comes back in Jordan.
Frazier has been very active in this game.
I've been impressed with Jordan Frazier.
She take a look at Morris.
His numbers today.
Again, good solid numbers.
Wesleyan builds on that lead.
Abby Sparks led from behind three on one and she gets clobbered by Kaitlyn Carswell.
That's not a great shot, John.
Even though she did get fouled, she'd drive.
And right at Reed on the block where Murphy did.
You're going to want to set that out or I'm.
Excuse me.
Turner was on the block.
Maybe Turner could a slid to the other block for the layup.
I was calling Jordan Frazier her first.
Sparks, as we mentioned, suffered a high ankle sprain in the first round against Dooley County.
She's been a starter all season and she didn't see any playing time as she battles for that loose ball up until the semifinals when she finally got some time and was healthy enough to play.
She's not 100%.
There's Reed playing well outside her comfort zone.
And look at that drive.
You're going to go left, not there, knocked out of bounds and stay with stay with Christian.
We've got to look and see how long Coach Byrd keeps frees up the line up with four fouls.
I imagine she'll probably come back at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
And another foul.
That's Frazier again, going to be her second quarter.
Well, Savannah Christian needs some kind of positive run here.
They're going have to do it on the defensive end.
Boy, I tell you, every time that ball goes on the floor, two or three Wesleyan play it.
Players there to defend it, knock it around, and they're usually going head to head with Kelly Reed for Savannah Christian Logan Moore is called on the foul has great hustle play gotta get it in and another scrap and Logan Morris comes around at the canes and crosses Jordan Frazier all alone.
Great way to gather yourself She's had a real nice game.
Frazier has knocked 16 points off the bench.
Good pass That's bird handling the ball and she's knocked as a knocked away by Kaitlyn Caldwell six three soft on this graph too far into the basket You see John that's as good as a turnover on the other end for Wesley and even though they didn't steal the ball, Savannah Christian took a quick which in turn led to the break for Wesley on the offensive end of the floor.
Take a look at Holly Wilkins who's checked back into the game along with Aaron Hall.
That's what I'm saying.
You, you take Maurice out of the game and you bring in Wilkins.
I mean, where's the drop off?
There's Wilkins.
There is none there.
I can.
Only Wilkins is having a nice game, and the lead is 20.
Well, that's what Wesleyan does to you.
That kind of luring in.
And then before you know it, it's Good night, nurse Bird, who's had a hot hand.
Nice shot.
Six points for Bird.
Savannah Christian is throwing these haymakers.
Well, they may be battered blues bruised and bloodied as Hall misses the three, but they're still throwing some punches.
Lady Raiders will get the basketball.
Kelly Reed spent more time on the floor diving for loose balls and standing straight up.
She's a hustler.
Jordan Frazier checking back in the game.
Aaron Hall will take it.
Take a seat on the bench.
Now, that's a great statement you just made.
Wesley has built a 20 point lead with Hall on the bench and there's Stevens knocking it away.
There's no quit.
She goes 100 miles an hour every time.
Well, the thing I see with Wesley, his defense.
There's nothing easy for Savannah Christian.
Every entry pass is hard If bringing up the ball is hard.
And after a while, that just beats down on you.
Savannah, Christian's never been to the state title game.
This is their first trip.
And there's a steal again by Wilkins.
Let's just travel.
Well, the defense for Wesley is doing a really nice job of pushing Savannah Christian further and further away from the basket.
Instead of the entry pass being 15 foot pass, it's messing up Savannah Christian spacing and timing and floor balance.
Well, they've never had a flow in this game.
No, they been lay rears back and attack the basket these sorts of foul three goes Wilkins I Agholor Now the plus side of this now for Savannah Christian Wesleyan is now has five fouls and they're getting close to the bonus Adrian Phillips at the line I told you at the open of the broadcast the grandfather passed away Thursday morning.
She's playing with a very heavy heart.
Ms. Clinton Graff checks out.
Is he?
Phillips Ten points, four rebounds.
You got to wonder emotionally if she's where her where she is, whether she's trained, losing such a close family member.
The 25 seconds to go in the quarter, look for Wesley to take the last shot of the quarter.
Asia.
Mackenzie Wesleyan is so disciplined, Coach Azar does an outstanding job with them.
So they'll start the attack for them in a few seconds.
Where oh, with the shot not there, but Morris with the rebound and can't get it off and reached the end of the third quarter.
It's been all Wesley in the second half and the defending champs are up 5134.
Back after this.

Hey.
Hey.
I don't think so.
Yes.
When I was a kid, you wouldn't do it there.
So don't do it here.
Sportsmanship.
It's up to you.
What jerk?
This is Georgia Public Broadcasting, your PBS station, serving all of Georgia.
Welcome back to the Macon Coliseum.
Wesleyan off 5134 as we head to the fourth quarter.
And it's been a decade of excellence for the Wesleyan Lady Wolves.
They're going for their seventh state championship in nine years.
Singular title in 2002.
And I got the ball rolling.
They moved up the double and well, they were just as excellent with four state titles and then moved back down last year and well kept the Express rolling with their sixth state championship.
It's been a heck of a heck of a program to answer that one word sheer dominance.
They impose their will upon their opponents.
They run a class operation, and Coach Azar needs to be commended for her efforts.
Wesleyan 16 points off the bench.
None for Savannah and Jordan.
Frazier off the bench has 14 points and yet another turnover.
Randy Frese back in the game for Savannah.
Christian Morris Take the shot and rebound by Byrd.
Now they've got to get a good look down here That being Savannah Christian it can't be a one and done situation offensively man them in defense again by Wesleyan This is really the first time this second half that Savannah Christian has been able to get their halfcourt set and yet it leads to another turnover.
You can't make one handed passes against teams that pressure you well defensively there's going to be a turnover You leave here and hope and she'll burn you but she doesn't that time and freeze comes away The rebound.
Savannah Christian's got two stops here but they got to produce on the offensive end of the floor.
D Phillips known for a three point shooting but has had a Wesleyan shirt and a face all day and been able to get on tracked.
And yet another turnover.
Wesleyan defensively is doing a great job of oh look at that look in the Wilkins that rebound by Reed But defensively Wesley is doing a great job of making Savannah Christian operate sideline and down.
What I mean by that when you look at your screen they're bringing the ball to the right side they're keeping it on that right side and using the sideline in the halfcourt line as defender where one defender can become three or two can become four.
All great give and go to free.
Got to finish.
And she did.
So Randy Frese in Foul Trouble comes off the bench and makes her presence known.
But legs are going to be a key here.
I just think the pressure that Savannah Christian was under in the first two quarters is not just taking a toll in the third.
Now in the fourth, the legs look a little heavy for the lady ratings.
So they got to see the screen on the ball there and help her out.
But that's where they're keeping the ball right there with the two best defenders on the floor for Wesley.
Now, the sideline in the in the halfcourt line, there's Reed and Kelly Reed.
He's had a great game, 14 points for Reed and Wilkins.
No basket the thousands Taylor Turner not a bad foul Got to make her earn them now at the stripe as opposed to they said it was on the court but now they've got to inbound the ball but you didn't want to give up the easy layup nice foul by Turner watch for Reed stepping in off of a screen on the baseline And there she is Aaron Hall hasn't had that three pointer fall today Morris with a drive Nice move boy what a game over Maurice's hand She's a player look like Wesley is backed off a little bit on the full court pressure but there's a steal by Ayesha McKenzie.
Wesleyan plays great defense with their feet in their hands.
They're very active on the ball.
D Phillips She launches the three.
Well, it's a still punishing I'll tell you.
Savannah Christian could get a string of threes from her but drop ends the momentum.
Well it's Savannah Christian To get back into this needs a series of stops but they've got to score on the offensive end of the floor That's great overplay defense they're not going to let Frazier get the ball D Phillips is hacked inside Nice play by Goff on the defensive end believe it was Holly Wilkins and as you take a look at Adrian the Phillips senior that's the first on Holli Wilkins senior leader with with 434 to go now Savannah Christian now is in the bonus so every time they get fouled they're going to the stripe which is going to allow Savannah Christian to score in the clock without any time coming off the clock to Phillips seven points in the semifinals in the quarter.
She had 21 points.
In fact, she was she made five three pointers in that game against Randolph Clay Randolph, play the number two team in passing away.
They face them in the quarters.
She put on a show as cross press pass into Wilkins.
Oh and Reed with the rebound great rebound by Reed now don't kick it ahead just yet Stay with the Raiders Wesleyan does a great job of getting you sideline and down defensively and forcing you up the side using that sideline as a defender to help by Brittany Stephens got the ball needs another break there's Frazier and she's found that hurt Frazier does a great job off the bench for west and that's Jordan Frazier shown up off the bench My goodness she's been a big difference.
Nice inside out dribble froze the defender and finished using the rim to block the defender's hand Nice job just a sophomore to complete the three point play Wilkins and Christian Abercrombie have checked into the game Go hard to the floor and Abercrombie will go to the line to shoot some free throws.
This that's what I alluded to earlier she now the clock this game could take ten years to finish due to the fact that every time there's going to be a foul Savannah Christian go to the line without any time elapsing from the game and creep back into the into this lead by Wesleyan with free throws Abercrombie, a sophomore hasn't seen a whole lot of action in the state tournament.
She got to make the free throws look up get to get back Wilkins with Frazier all open underneath defense recovers smart enough back it out Look for Wesley now to go into their four corners under four to play and we could see a little Four corners action here right fill they're going to go a high low maybe inside, but they're not going to look for anything quick, Wesley, And just content to let that time run down.
That's her ally right now.
Great Steal entry pass denied by Taylor Turner and Abercrombie's fouled again this time by Clinton Groff Now the three on the senior now against that four corners in that three out to end delay game that Wesleyan is running defensively what you want to try to do is keep the ball on one side of the floor.
Don't let them be able to reverse it.
Now, that's easier said than done because Leslie has got such great guards.
Kristen Abercrombie, a sophomore, averaging about a almost and a half a game.
And again, this is on the one on one, you know, that's basically four points that they weren't able to lock up.
They're missing that first end of the one and one Carrington Groff can hit knocked around danger McKenzie and they back it out and let that time run McKenzie now looking to shoot and Hall will shoot It hits nice stroke real nice stroke.
I'll move on to the SCC after she graduates and play for Wake Forest.
Randi Frese There's three with that spin.
It won't fall this time.
It's one and done for Savannah Christian that's a great board by Wilkins but she gets the rebound the break start I imagine Johnson esque when she gets it and goes a little like her uncle to definitely Dominique Wilkins Good finish nice pass Christian Abercrombie finishes the break a little life left in Savannah Christian as we need as we reach the two minute marker near the two minute mark all double teams fouled I believe it was freeze and if so, that's going to hurt.
That will be all for Randy Freeze the first.
That's a bad loss right there.
That's going to hurt them.
So Randy freeze the 511 JR for Savannah Christian fouls out the team's best ball handler she's had she's had a struggle this afternoon handling that press and the reason being the people that a gardener as tall as she is you know, Bond is tall, Pennington is tall.
She'll be back next year.
She gets a standing ovation from the Raider fans.
Look for Hall coming off the baseline screen.
You can see what that game means to Randy freeze that shot of her just burying her face in her hands.
This is a Savannah Christian team that, as we mentioned at the top of the second half, is had a strange trip throughout the state tournament.
I think they played loose and they've played well throughout the state tournament.
I don't think we've seen the last of them.
They'll be tough again next year.
They do lose to Philips, but for that starting five, we'll be back.
They may need a foul here.
And then I have to go and Coach Byrd saying go get them and Kristin Abercrombie does get in the foul.
Now the next foul will put they are now in the bonus.
So I've heard.
Well, she's got a program building here at Savannah Christian to take a look at canes and growth.
Of course when we're done here the Wesleyan boys will go for a state championship taking on Whitfield Academy Wesleyan with a chance to sweep it twice.
single-A state championships as wholesale substitutions come in now for Wesleyan and Asia, McKenzie gets a standing ovation as she sits on the bench.
And this incredible run by Wesleyan looks to continue by the by the Wesleyan girls.
Yeah, they'll be back.
How can you be back when you don't go anywhere?
They're going to be here.
B Phillips as a slipped away recovers and fouled and I believe it's Erin Hall on the reaching Now I know Coach Azar doesn't like those reach fouls especially now with the game you're almost up 20 with a minute and ten to go It's on Grace Coward and time out by Wesleyan.
Well, have you ever dreamed of inventing the next big thing?
Watch a reality competition show of Georgia Tech whiz kids competing to win $15,000.
Wow.
And so on next Wednesday, St Patrick's Day, 17th at 7 p.m. on GPB.

Well, we're done here.
It's the boys class single-A state championship game as the Wesleyan Wolves on the Wolfpack of Woodfield Academy.
It's the Battle of the Wolves.
Phil Hansen now started approximately 1245 here in Georgia Public Broadcasting.
Stay tuned for that game when we're done here.
Adrian Phillips five nine senior show, Move On after this game, getting to go for the ovation is Jason Mackenzie stepped back in and a hug from coach Janna.
These are the senior Wesleyan is basically taking the final Four now and turning it into their own invitational tournament.
The Whip Going to calm things down for Savannah Christian trying to go for fouls and Abercrombie with a near steal and then a foul.
I mean she made a drag that's I'm going to travel to Savannah Christian will inbound the ball as you take a look at that Wesleyan bench there's Jordan Frazier boy who've been the difference in this game and Logan Morris will check out the heart and soul.
She had a great career, this team and some tears in her eyes.
Nice play by Reid.
He's a fighter.
Kelly Reid with the basket Bennett Christian has a quick team in 40 seconds and there's Aaron hole and their final game as a Wesleyan.
Wolfe Smart had the shot at the time as what you're fighting against now not your opponent 30 seconds away attack the scoreboard and putting her on the line is death.
She is a big time free throw shooter.
Well, a state tournament Aaron Hawes had she had ten points in the semifinal.
As you take a look at Logan Morris, who hugs all around for that senior 511, she'll go on to Wofford.
But she's been she means so much.
This Wesleyan team.
She's and again, as I said earlier, she's the type of they she does doesn't show up in the scoreboard but she is a key element this Wesleyan Wolfe team you got to have players like that.
If not, you can't win championships.
And Aaron Hall, she's had a great career in the Wesleyan uniform and she will get a curtain call.
It's a nice gesture by coaches are taking the seniors out and gets a huge hug from Janney's are obviously tears of joy there.
And of course, when you're a senior, you hate to see things end and that just a new beginning and exactly she'll move Aaron.
Paul will move on to Wake Forest and compete in the HTC and an up and coming program in that league as with 5 seconds go D Philip stripped and there's how fitting to have Reed on the floor scrapping again with no time on the clock basically she's had a great game for and I as we look at Wesleyan celebrate have been impressed with Kelly Reed she's just a junior she'll be back and you know that Savannah Christian team will be in good hands with Kelly Reed in the Post and at Wesleyan, they're going to hang a seventh banner up in the rafters.
The Lady Wolves are the state champions again, second time in program history that they've three peated.
It's the seventh state championship in program history all in a nine year span outstanding.
We're going to take a break and let the lady wolves celebrate.
We're back after this.
