He's coming in.
It's a helicopter slam tap to pull up from three.
Watch this guy go wheel drive, backs it in and gets it from the Macon Coliseum in the making center flex.
It is championship two on championship day.
Number one, it is the single a public championship.
Two teams meeting from different parts of the state here in Macon Madness.
It is the Wilkinson County Warriors coming out of region 724 and six one up against the Bulldogs of Hancock Central coming in with an identical 24 and six record.
Welcome to the Macon Madness.
The march to Macon is now complete.
I am Jon Nelson.
This is Shaun Golden, my tag team partner here for the weekend on the boys side and these two teams.
Shaun played each other twice the regular season.
No secrets here, therefore no secrets.
John got to come out here and play a hard this enjoy the process.
You got a lot of energy in the crowd the team that comes out, John, like we talked about, they can stay under control, hit big shots of the team that's going to win.
And in talking to both of these coaches coming in, we thought that there might be a change of styles, but it looks like we're going to be getting a tennis match here and it's going to go in the in both ways.
You really can't change anything, John, Now, especially coming to a championship game, you want the kids feel relaxed, know what they're doing, so you got to stick to your guns and come out here and play your game.
Wilkinson County, one of the coaches, is chasing history.
Dr. Erin Jeter, he will be going after his eighth title for Wilkinson County.
He is the superintendent of schools for Wilkinson County in 17 years they have made 17 Sweet sixteens chasing after his eighth title.
If he does that, he will become only the third coach in Georgia state history to reach the eight title plateau.
So there's going to be some high cotton for the folks from Erwin ten and MacIntyre.
And on the flip side, it is an interesting point guard for Hancock Central and Anthony with a662 guards on average and 16.2 rebounds to assist the game.
A lot of pressure is going to put on this young man tonight.
How he handles the press is important.
How he controls his team is important because his success leads to success of Hancock Central, and that is Alex Brooks.
He is averaging a little over 16 points a game, two points and two rebounds.
And Hancock Central won a title here in 2008.
Anthony Webb is a local grow up in Sparta and he said that basketball is everything.
Same thing in Wilkinson County.
The palace is one of the coolest venues that you could have in all of single-A basketball.
When you have a town like Irvington, when you have a town like Sparta, games like this mean the world.
This is a huge game for the community, for the schools.
I'm just going to enjoy this track that we're going to have here tonight.
John.
They're going to warm up the Coliseum, get ready for the weekend and people to sit back.
Enjoy your popcorn at home.
This is going to be a nice meal.
Dr. Jeter has been a part of the process since 1999.
It used to be where there's a ripple, there's a way.
There is Anthony Webb, the head coach of Hancock Central, who started out four and four this year.
They've gone 20 in two since Crawford County, Wilkinson County, Baldwin and Thompson.
Were those losses in that four and four start?
But he has set and he has admitted that his team is a bunch of overachievers.
What does that mean for the last game of the year?
Well, John, you really can't say that because of the last six games Hancock has won four of them.
So Hancock really has the upper edge mentally.
Now let's see how they're going to handle this championship state.
Wilkinson County Yesterday, their practice in some circles talking to those close to the program, they were jumpy yesterday, uncharacteristically.
They seemed nervous at practice yesterday.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
We'll introduce that in just a sec.
The third member of our broadcast team, Sam Crenshaw, with a word on the history of Wilkinson County.
Sam Course, as people in Watson are used to playing a championship basketball games, nothing new for Wilkinson County.
They are indeed high school basketball royalty in this state.
It goes back to the days of coach David Moore, who coached old Calhoun Consolidated in the G.I.
Age.
Back in those days, he played in the gym.
It actually was outside.
They played on a clay court outdoors, and from those teams they would win three state championships in the 1960s before consolidating the schools and merging with the NCAA starting in 1970.
So those seeds glinted in the Georgia clay still flourish today.
We'll see if they get another championship for Wilkinson County this afternoon.
Thank you very much, Sam.
You'll be our eyes and ears on the sideline.
For the record, Calhoun Consolidated won in single-A gig in 1966, Double-A back to back in 1969 and 1970.
In the rafters at the Palace in Wilkinson County, there is a banner with David Moore, coached from 1964 to 1996.
In those 32 years for 91 and 117, let's look at the starting five for the blue storm.
There you have Aaron Jeter, the third.
He is the coach's son, the junior point guard.
You have Ontario coach, you have Larry Jones, Greg coaston, Clarence Jackson, Clarence Jackson, the sophomore.
Shawn, you've been keeping an eye on him.
Hancock central starters, alex brooks, the point guard, the virginia tucker fleet, scott, mark, travis Smith and Dallas menninger.
Right now, Wilkinson county, traditionally 10 to 12 deep.
They come in in shifts, Hancock Central, maybe seven off the bench.
Any thoughts there?
Hey, John, again, we talked about the track meet.
Sometimes you're going to have to give that good break so you can keep the energy and the fluidity of the game going.
Wilkinson County brings out one of the Thomas Front courts at times in all of single-A basketball, and they will wind up with Barry Jones Running Point coach in the corner on Central, off the glass to hard follow up and a foul on the inside.
20 seconds here.
And John, you talked about the nervousness there Wilkinson County and here you have an the past didn't have to come down the court and this attack in the rim and that's a fantastic job there by Smith get to the rim shoot the two free throws Honorable mention Aldridge averaging three points a game that's the first down the ball as a john Now the confidence is definitely in the hands of Hancock Central Steel transition basket that's the way you want to play create turnovers and score off those opportunities Second and too hard the foul was called on Jones Larry Jones number three bringing the ball up for his first team first Tolbert with the first point on the board Ontario coast into the corner knocked out of bounds as he was looking for Aaron Jeter on the pass and will stay with the blue storm.
Hey John the first two offense possessions for Wilkinson County resulted in a deflection and a steal so there's two deflections that they have John for Hancock Central all hands in the way early on defensively for Hancock Central on the drive still working the perimeter tough defense by Hancock Central to start things out first man only one point on the board near corner spot no wind no rebound Hancock Central save from going out of bounds Roger Tucker has it he'll slow it down for Alex Brook 17 footer back iron no tips around rebound second chance three pointer off the back by him again no good third opportunity pass inside he's got fourth chance No and look out comes up with it down We talked about a fast this game had a lot of missed shots a lot of offensive rebounding and now we've got transition basketball.
This is exactly what we talked about, starting off the bucket back the other way.
Turnover for Wilkinson Town by Ontario Coach Second turnover in the first minute and a half you have electricity done here.
The atmosphere is very strong.
Just a good game for us to really enjoy it.
Air drop the elbow Bank.
No goodbye Memories here.
Let's see what Wilko will do with it.
Jeter Left hand misses everything Got easy production to the plate goes down.
I don't think, John each team has three point shooters, so offensive rebounding is definitely a plus in both of their hands.
You've got at the feet of the bottom a defensive end, the box out two players for Hancock Central averaging double figures, six for Wilkinson County because of style of play block on the inside by Kozan it looks like he's going to stay with Hancock Central another one good penetration to the basket there John offensive rebounding but just a great block there by Bruce Hancock Central over their first seven from a four almost stolen on the pass elbow jumper No oh for eight Jackson coming out with a long pass to steps rim no good Keita with the follow no third chance up in finds Jackson Hey John and that's what I'm talking about offensively rebounding on both ends Someone's got to do a better job of boxing out defensively and eliminate the second chance shot.
Take Tucker averaging a little over eight points a game on the year.
A lot of hands high, hands on the inside.
But finally their night shot on the day one trivia Smith the first two for Hancock sent in a john if there was a shot clock you see a lot of open shots from outside the paint.
Everyone inside the paint is being effective with three points high arching three no by coach rebound on the inside coming out with it Hancock in transition and steps as they talk about being intense.
I'm looking at Geno over there he is traditionally he wants this game very bad once every game very bad and we pardon that doctor Jeter has that stare that you don't want to get.
And I know that, you know, coaches have that stance.
Yeah, I was one of the missed by a hand by Wilcox but by Wilco Hancock Central with the miss coming out with Jeter four on one.
What do you do here?
Too many passes and out of bounds.
It's a fast paced game.
At some point time, John.
It's going to slow down and get a little bit on the control, but get through this first half against Leslie to the first timeout.
It's going to stay at this pace.
Larry Jones, the 519 running point head coach who had some time on the bench with an injury healthy now gets to do out there in six three welcome Yeah John that was just a shot that passed away and that's at 17 feet so being able to get that from the shot down maybe can help Wilco make some perimeter shots here in the mixed in place Brooks looking to drive the double team down on the baseline kicks it back out to Tucker you get the halfway point first quarter make the jumper and the drive Blake Scott foul on the inside.
And when we come back we'll have free throws 343 to go first quarter single a public championship Wilkinson County W Hancock Central six three on the great JB Cotton contributes $2.5 billion to the state's economy annually.
It takes more than 60 cotton gins and manufacturers to bring cotton into our everyday lives.
Kids always like to stay in the pool a little too long, and when they do get out covered in goosebumps, you feel the urge to wrap them up.
The cozy embrace of cotton does the job.
Cotton the natural choice for Georgia.
Welcome back.
Macon Coliseum Macon Center Flex 343 for the first.
Let's take a look at how these two squads got to this moment in time, starting with Wilkinson County, the road to the championships produced by our friends at Georgia EMC.
Big win over at KO in the first round.
Lincoln County completely stifled them defensively to win by 37, then knocking off the number one seed, truly winning that one by 13 6956.
On the flip side, Hancock Central knocked up Marion County by 11, Taylor County by ten, Turner County.
They survived a last second shot to win 6866.
And you've got a tale of two ways of getting here.
Wilkinson County having their way with a lot of folks.
Hancock Central playing it tight.
Yeah.
It's if you really look at the first 4 minutes done you look at this the pace was like very red going down the court very fast.
One perimeter shot made a lot of energy plays made in that first 4 minutes.
John Now we've got to get some basketball bleep Scot free for a weapon in Scott averaging a little over 15 a game and eight rebounds First team all region for the Bulldogs second three pointer by Scott cuts to lead the run and see Johnson You watch how they play in the half goes to him Yeah great stroke the free throw line he's going to be knocked down that 15 foot shot there in the half hapless action Hancock one for their first 11 from the floor.
Wilkinson Three of their first nine here in double teamed finally gets to give it to coach so they can reset in the game now G Damian Jones, the five nine Junior 23 as part of the new round of change for Wilkinson County BLOCK on the Inside by Felipe Scott and John.
I really applaud how the officials are letting these teams come out and play good penetration here to the basket Great weakside hip there by the defense Scott and more Treveon Smith double teaming on the baseline as we come up on 3 minutes to go first quarter very fast moving single-A public championship Jones guarded by Burks, will drive into a triple team off the glass up and in great pressure Yeah great penetration there to the beginning to the middle the nice finish down low by Colson Tucker Scott looking to drive got Jonathan Baer in the air to blue Just take a look at Wilkinson County getting points on the board Yeah anytime you can attack the middle of the paint you got a swing step there down low Don't allow the ball go into the middle of the paint just on penetration.
Did this guy do a better job of forcing the free to play that by Wilkinson County Jonathan Barry in less than a minute picks up his first foul one of the leading scorers for Wilkinson County averaging 12 points a game six rebounds Once again we remind you about Wilkinson County, six players averaging in double figures since Dr. Jeter is more than happy to bring in ten, 11, 12 guys during this time of year, he'll play even more during the regular season.
Think you've asked the question twice.
Are there any secrets?
You know, you've got to stick to what he's doing all year long.
It will help you be successful because the key is a very comfortable plan.
That consistent style there gets the rebound.
Fighting inside against three white shirts jumper up an injured Avion John.
Thanks, John.
I would say that's the first basketball play we've had between both teams.
Nice shot, fake nice pull up there with jumpers.
Brooks Tucker looking to drive left hand high our cheap shot off the hips for the Pacers on the slow down a little bit with 2 minutes left in the first quarter but the penetration both teams are playing pressure on the perimeter but they're not keeping the offense out of the paint.
You got to do a better job.
Job of containing the dribble finger roll.
No good.
Back comes Hancock's central Tucker bounce pass Smith had on the call Steph here's an off the hip move three down the Sean Gordon playbook Yes he done that middle penetration both ways it's hurting both teams and it's going to bite him in the end because now the officials are going to call it little bit tighter as the game gets close to the end.
Jones in Free pass turns it over and a nice lane that time where Trey Houston gets Jones steals a layup, steals and layups.
You see Hancock Central getting in the passing lane John attacking the rim in transition five for Smith leading Hancock Central the first tie of the game here at ten tough defensively by Hancock's central three point attempt no by Jones trying to save it stays with Walker Hey John I'm sure that's not the shot that the doctor wanted the 22 foot jump shot there from Jones even though he was open he was open for a reason.
33 Derek Wiltshire in Greg Coats and will sit presumably for the remainder of the quarter Ocho inbounds to the baseline, kicking it back out to the perimeter to reset as we come up with a minute to go.
First quarter tied at ten jump shot too much in Hancock Central comes away with it the here Tucker in free pass he used to buy this game and that's just a big stop down down down down low by the big fella Dallas just making a nice dribble drop step and a nice finish into the rim six for junior averaging four and a half.
He's got half his season average right there Hancock on a60 run to be up by two.
Let's take another look at an image right there on the block dribble drop step went to the baseline first is Clint back to the middle That's a great offensive move Whistle on the inbound looks like it's going to be a foul on Hancock Central on the inbounds pass and they call the foul on the badger Tucker his first Jones dribbling on the perimeter it looked like that shot by junior was partially blocked joust and I'll go to Hancock Center now Lucas is coming out of that John there they really are trying to hit the outside shot I think a little too much stuff penetrate the shot, fake penetrate, get to the rim as much as you can, leaving the perimeter shot outside Arsenal here, Tucker bringing it up.
Be guarded by two Damian Jones and an offensive foul Come back the other way.
Looks like they're going to call Felipe Scott be Scott's first one.
Now coming up on 10 seconds, one opportunity for Wilko here at the end of the corner.
Little kick the ball from behind.
Follow up, two hard third shot attempt by Jonathan Baer's not going to happen and we have finished the first quarter in the single A Boys Public Championship, Hancock Central on a601 down early.
The Bulldogs now lead the blue storm by a score of 12 to 10 back and forth action, which is what we anticipated, second 8 minutes coming up around the corner on the great JB Macon Madness is here.
Stay with us.

Welcome back.
Macon Coliseum, Macon Cineplex, getting ready for the start of the second 8 minutes boys.
Single day public final Hancock Central leading Wilkinson County by the score of 12 to 10.
And this upcoming moment for Georgia Public Broadcasting was brought to us by Shawn Golden.
Yeah.
Down Tommy Johnson is coming up this Saturday night.
Grass will be a farewell to our friends at the six Wonderful Seasons with a special live event surrounding the series finale.
It all starts Sunday night on GPB.
The great GPB held on Hot Downton Abbey, the great staples here at Georgia Public Broadcasting.
We're getting ready for the second 8 minutes here.
What struck you from the first date?
Hey, John.
Perimeter shooting.
All right.
You got 28% from the from the Field Vanguard Center, 27% for Wilkinson County.
So they've got to do a better job on his shots for the first time since I was out of bounds defense on the way back to the stadium, we'll go under the basket.
It's good.
It's on the Green Zone.
Take the defense.
You can get inside the paint force, the defense to come up to dump off Devonta Freeman.
Think about that.
He has six jumper off the front rim short.
This is where Wilkinson Campbell loves to run in transition and numbers go back and back out to Larry Jones five four Wilkinson counting for this moment in time.
Right now it's the five that started off the window rimmed out by James Colson and Jackson.
Now in transition attempt and here's your drive dish and dunk It's a high low a shot Blake one nice thing he's going to get the balance Clarence Jackson the sophomore we talked about him kind of being the straw for that offense.
Yeah.
John And he's been touted as the glue for the team as he goes down.
This group is six on the team goes averaging over 2014 points a game and if he plays well, he's going to play good, but one step too many to get set for the baseline jumper Jackson's to gets waved off and was stopped 12 five four Hancock Central the same Alex Brooks 20 points back out the match up Dallas Limited 1520 Smith 11 points Scott 30 three half gone second quarter down into the paint as he tries that will talking about penetration penetration the first quarter they didn't call as many fouls but as a game down the season's up just a little bit.
Here's a high ball screen display on his shoulder doing a good job on the defense And there's the 5000 Ontario coach response.
Officials for this game are going back up to 8010, wow.
So far I would probably say if he tried again, Penetration Brooks does a good job on his body to thwart the blocked shot finish in the to Dr. you wants a 30 here's your dribble drive a lot of empty space on the baseline for Brooks at times yeah but John he did a great job of just holding off the defense avoiding the block and finish and that's what I like about Brooks I think he can take it time to do that this game would be going to the favor of Hancock said There's not your but John you know what that is man that's Cox with that that's all that is.
And if you look at him as he's yelling at the kids know he's earned the respect from the kids, from the school, from the community.
See, now the kids presented to him, he comes out on the court, as shown in the last 17 years.
He knew that the blue storm was going to bring a lot of folks with him.
As the saying goes, if you want to win single single-A, probably most of the time you're going to have to go to the 50 seconds game time.
This is Irwin's and MacIntyre Wilkinson game.
Yeah penetration time that's the name of the game offensively for both teams Drive to the tree and take over and we talked about Scott Roeder he got the script about how close the shot fake run drive under control and finish second foul by Larry Jones Nice rebound Colson but he's too squashed open getting adjusted to the rims and the lighting here But you know John I really think they're just playing basketball and I don't think I'm not saying they're a bad shooting team, but don't shoot him.
The pressure is definitely going to Jackson.
Miss everything.
Great idea, A.J., not to get on the John Jones and Johnson here.
Larry Jones is out there.
Jackson is out for the time.
You got to realize sometimes you have to be patient.
Don't take the shot to be seen, be patient, Try to get to the first number.
Got he's got 416, all tied at 16.
Again, Tucker is blocking the way in transition Here's JR power in the transition John defense transition that's great basketball look at him count again the block shot deep outlet it nice finish and inside gamecocks seem to top five to hard Jones blocked by side drive off the lead Glasper plays strong this time from above penetration and time with the shot big time get inside the timing on channel rebound said on the massaging Damian Jones there telling everybody to go It looks like the momentum now John is hitting towards rookies and counted but he started off their defense contesting his shots blocking shots deep outlet finish in any way so it's about 12 people in there.
It just continue to play to the three point shot because it's 130.
We're going to take it within 11 run by Wilkinson County has flipped the script here in the second 8 minutes.
Wilkinson down to six in the SEC championship.
The blue storm is rolling right now in Macon.
It brings out the best in all of us over at Regions.
Every day is game day now.
Welcome back.
325 in the first half here at the Macon Coliseum in the Macon Cineplex, you see Wilkinson County, the blue storm catching fire here.
And this is what Dr. Jeter has done.
The short version, seven state championships in 17 years, 17 straight Sweet sixteens, 15 Elite Eights, ten Final Fours, his all time record for 72 and 50.
The only thing missing is a partridge in a pear tree with what he's been able to accomplish so far in the Twin Cities of Maryland to the 1991 word to describe that man, John Respect.
There's a banner that goes up in there.
Jim.
You don't say garbage either.
You just put respect because Metric comes out.
You look at him, what he's done with this program, what he's done with that community, he's going to everybody should have that job.
He can coach those teams even when wouldn't want to because the people just looking to count.
He's made six of the last eight from the floor.
What have you seen this in basketball done away when he went to get the perimeter shots around 12 feet.
And it starts with their defense.
Tucker along the perimeter fleet.
Scott got to hand it off.
Now he's driving and he gets foul in the drive.
Driving gets out over here, is stuck in the high post.
So over the contact almost had a hand one, but that's hard to defend.
Jeff Wilkinson count with Scott This can't happen John because he can shoot the ball at 12 to 15 feet.
You got to honor his shot.
If he shot fakes, he gets to energize the basket.
Also, there's a set play that high post game ball and Scott Williams, three fellow coast to coast in his first margin still six 3 minutes three four 3 to 5 Oh he did that to stop the Wilco run game the other times it's the second check in the match with High Teardrop.
No good motion to take to penetrate the defense.
Notice the ship out of control off is the tip in the crucial just in position to get the two points.
He has ten of the team's 24 Once again that all at one point the Wilkinson County steps will go the other way.
The tallest player for Hancock Central a64.
But when Wilkinson County can come at you with Jonathan Banner at six nine comes in at six six and had Clarence Jackson on the outside.
Six five gives you stuff to think about.
Oh, gently keep the ball at the paint, John they don't want you to penetrate.
But if they do, they've got the teams that have blocked shots.
Colson Fake foul, call them down.
No good follow through possession stuff gave him a chance He shot it 15 Graham But he's quick on his feet to get the second chance to get it in the corner for Towson.
As we come up on 2 minutes, the margin is nine sky spin right hand to heart.
Another opportunity for Hancock to throw him down.
No good coaching was fighting for a touchdown pass the double fouled it all stars on this offensively Hancock Central is just missing shots there at the rim town but you talked about their size and Wilcox County with the second group in some counties offering shots made of shotgun shells that's effective.
Yeah definitely talented he's got his second back and in is not part of the box the dish that the by Jay Tucker no tip he's good at are trying to get Smith he can't give up on the play now people when you watch basketball you can't give up on the play you may think your teammates going to hit that layup.
You got to be there for the tip right here.
No, Mr. Dunk Hancock's got the numbers one eight.
Time for the job in this fast paced as a game of spurts and not to Hancock coming out and having Facebook now came down to five point game doing a good job on stopping offense and attacking in transition the 60 minutes the 60 seconds for the first time marching back to five.
We've had a run by Wilkinson.
We had a run by Hancock at the end of the first Wilkinson get there at the beginning of the second.
Hancock Central Time again, to kick off the time Bear on the five.
Yeah, well, people without the fruits of there We have a miller we saw in fact a 7.6 being around the point five points got baseline bingo and no Scott lost it just from the baseline stays with Hancock Central the 35 eight Tucker high body by Ontario coach Scott elbow thought about it pass Kieran there in traffic foul on the reaching Alex Brooks and that's the one that just missed that can be made with Hancock Central Scott has got to be consistent in his take the side even though he missed a few time that's his range shooting gets on tape he's got to make the defense to be honest with the shot basically killed in that second foul on Alex Brooks.
Something to pay attention to as we go forward here under 20 seconds for and guarded by Austin Boston.
They had a box of ten points which will be taken Scott out there because it looks David Brooks out there to the good here to pick up a third foul in Hancock Central time 14.1 long three get a free shot now here fouls here in here and it is a three shot foul.
Jeez First let's take a look.
I got the ball screen.
Basketball looks people up 1039 got seven points They all got his whatever The first shot.
Yeah.
This to me is very important when it comes to the five offensive county inbounds.
That's the launch.
It will count on the side of the backboard.
No, but Game of Thrones, I'll match your line with one of my own.
Hancock Central had a run.
Wilkinson County had a run.
Sam Crenshaw with Dr. Jeter, not the G to his luck.
Headed to the locker room.
You were down at the end of the first quarter.
Talk about the second quarter.
What got things turned around for your team?
Well, just play a solid basketball, nothing fancy.
Get into your stuff, turn and do what we do well and we're begin to post.
So we got a tech to paint you facing an opponent you're familiar with.
What's the key to the second half for you?
Just fundamental basketball.
And we do that.
I think we'll be fine.
At the end of the day.
We'll be looking for that.
Good luck to you.
Thank you.
All right.
28, 22, the score at halftime.
Let's go now to Mark and Jacki.
Thank you very much, Sam.
Coming up on our GPB halftime show, we'll have scores and highlights and stats all from the first half of the earlier games.
And also we'll see what fans are chatting about online in the social media world.
That and much more as we continue right here on TV's halftime show.

It was the Lady Rebels of Turner County defeating Terrell County 55 to 38.
It was Turner County's very first state champion.
They've been runner ups in 2020 15.
They win their first one and they go undefeated.
The picture perfect 31.
And right now we're at the half of the boys class won a public school game.
It's the Wilkinson County Warriors going for their eighth state championship, leading Hancock Central's Bulldogs 2823.
Coming up tonight around 7:00, the 26 and four veteran lady war hawks are taking on the 30 and one Americas, Sumpter Panthers.
And then around 845 or so, it's Liberty County's Panthers.
They've only lost one game this year, taking on the Jonesboro Cardinals.
The Cardinals have won back to back state championship.
They're going for the three beat coach Don Mailman and his crew very excited about the season and very excited to be back in the championship game here at the Macon Coliseum on GPB.
There's a lot to get to.
We've got certainly a long night ahead of us and a couple of games I'll be doing sidelines for the next girls game and there's already been a lot of energy here in the air.
I mean, fans already out here earlier for the single-A public school, school games, crowding, crowding everywhere.
I mean, it's so far it's been awesome.
So we've got a lot more to get to, right?
The fans are very pumped up and there's a lot of great storylines going on.
There's two teams that have a chance to win the football basketball daily double.
There's three schools that win the boy girl Daily Double.
A lot of schools have a chance for multiple state championships, including Wilkinson County going for their eight tomorrow.
Wesleyan will go for their 12th.
So it's pretty exciting for Brady.
Not a dry eye in the house earlier with Turner County.
So certain things off right now.

Wednesday, March 16th on GPB.
Welcome back.
Macon Coliseum Macon Center BLOCK is getting ready for the second 6 minutes of the Boys single-A public school Championship.
Wilkinson County, The Blue Storm leading Hancock Central by five game, something that we didn't necessarily think would be out of the norm.
2823 at the break and it was I've got to run now.
The other guy's got to run.
I've got to run.
The other guys got to run.
We knew it was going to be up and down the floor for the full time.
And John, that's the way both teams play.
It's a spur to runs.
Both teams want to get up down the court.
Transition basketball is what they want.
But when teams got to come out and do a better job of just playing smarter, John, one team's got to come out and defend better, keep the ball out of the paint.
Little things are going to make a big difference here in the second half and we'll get to that second 16 minutes in just a little bit.
Let's take a look at what happened in the first half and when you think about what's going on in the blue of the sun, number four, great coach and coach is doing an awesome job at double double here in the first half, John, with 12 points, 11 rebounds.
He's getting to the rim.
He's playing with a lot of tenacity right there in the first half.
Flip side for Hancock Central, a part of their women's march.
Xavier Smith Well, he's doing a better job.
John set up for the team lead them in scoring but he's being aggressive with scoring on offensive rebounds and transition baskets, averaging a little over eight on the year and he's got seven in the first 16 minutes.
So it's going to take those kinds of efforts from those players.
You're not necessarily focusing on that.
It's going to make the impact here in the last game of the year.
Over to Sam Crenshaw with Coach Webb here with coach, where be down by five at the break.
What do you tell your team in the locker room?
We got to capitalize on our free throws and box out.
They're killing us on the glass.
We get into the line, but we're not finishing.
And that's why that's the difference in the ballgame right now.
It's about the things you want to see.
Of course, you said I remember hearing you say at the end of the first quarter, you won the first quarter.
They go back out, do those things, can they bottle it back up here in the second half?
Yes, sir.
We're used to this.
Most of our games we've been down and have the third quarter is typically our best quarter.
We'll be looking for that.
Thank you.
Good luck to you as coach.
Well, thank you very much, Sam.
There's your first half numbers.
I know a couple of things stick out, but what sticks out, which are offensive rebounding just as a whole, is on 2318.
We may think that's a score 03. shots maybe.
I mean, that's not hitting the hitting the basket, John, just not shooting the ball well.
But the stat that we really need to focus on John, is kids is is right who can keep it simple play the simple game of basketball here in the second half.
Again that puts us safe into position to win this championship.
Half time stats produced by our friends, a Georgia Farm Bureau insurance and stats courtesy of our friends at West Georgia Technical College.
No free throws for Wilco in the first half, 7 to 12 for Hancock Central to keep them in the game.
The numbers from the floor 29% for Hancock Central.
But remember, they were also for their first nine and one for their next 11.
So one for 11 after starting out for nine, down five and John, what then?
I want to point out what it was back here in the third quarter to run and something we need to watch out.
All right, Stephen, it works.
He got the basketball going up against Aaron Cheatham for Philip Scott, starting five through the same for Scott Smith from Tucker for him he steps back time fades away from him.
John Hancock Center field there they did force to play here late in the game come to them they get a turnover with the wolves.
I like their patience their preferred position here.
One change Wilkinson County Johnson Easier to fight inside Look at all these things really get the ball Wilkinson kind of doing a great job of getting into the lane.
As you mentioned, it breaks down the ball down onto the field and the big time out there.
Either he saw, Hey guys, we've got to stop them on defense.
So there's a 30, so the drive there makes it 30, 25 played a minute.
13 Hancock Central won the class AA state championship in 2008, Cam Hulsey and all that bunch And here's how they got their last bucket Just the ball stays out of the ground the defense didn't him there's no weak side help with this got a nice finish down low and that may be something John at halftime adjustment that Hancock made instead of this drive and would have been able to listen to the ball.
So let's watch it in the third quarter to for their first three from the field Wilko brings it up for a five minute ten it comes inside the coaching finally the right side of the fence but he's now 14 zero down the court, getting inside and puts his hand on three nights out with a double double.
You got to find the hole so keep it outside offensive foul and fox central looks like the corn fleet Scott and that's his third and some John Hughes with the team that wins the first 3 minutes of the second half John as a team that wins the galaxy Wilkinson County come out with fire You heard coach Gina say you've got to contain to do what we've done and do it fast here in the second half, the team split the season series and one 6855 first game of the year, December 4th game.
Hancock to in Sparta on January 9th, 1762 Free throw line doesn't get the ball many feel it the rebound is an interesting look to see Scott being guarded by being outside the three point circle.
Top of the key outside the elbow jumper.
Too much long rebound picked up by Scott Tucker back of the rim.
Third opportunity for Hancock Central getting fox up in the air by three he sees an offensive rebound tons of talk about it and will continue to talk about it.
You've got to defend the shot in the drive.
You got to go deep down deep into nine.
Has he a good job?
We have a defensive product.
He's going for a deep shot on the three.
He just kind of insufferable and got to seven Tucker high teardrop no good Jason hits a hard fall landed on his right hand It's his own face in the 70 seconds on his shoulder out of high Russell every missed shot with this is the man for the defensive end his hands on there he has his hands on the ball.
I think that's one of the themes.
And he really brings a sense of toughness to his program.
Philip, call for his court to keep an eye out for the white paint double team now.
Whoa, Sean Tucker.
Yes, Tucker and John just made that statement, how close he is on the offensive rebounds in the defense.
He's been very active in things.
Passing on to Coach Jones has had a front row inside body play nice this felt like developing early in the game.
A double header from the post.
Someone gets a double from the post.
The big side guys got a drop.
There was no trouble.
There's a nice place down low the first time with a solid block now before falling one more time.
What happened?
See, there's a block to block double scoring, double double recycle.
It's got to drop when that happens.
Not happening so quick.
Coaches there for the two is called for his second foul for the third straight game on Tuesday.
Coming up from the halfway point we're not going to second through Coleman's outpost and had to rebound there with confused finding over themselves in the state of Hancock Central Coast and really looking how he's playing his game tonight John.
He's attacking offense but same time defense Texas the most important rebounds keeping the steal from deflections There's another one UConn comes out with it one of the first to face three teams to settle their bases hands goes back to his jump hill.
It was inside traffic coming from the post.
He thought it was going to come.
So to kick him down the coast, he just looked too hard to pass for the heat.
So it was going to be much less for a basketball.
Yeah down here in the third.
Did you see the quickness, the defensive intensity picked up by real coach?
John just talked about his weakness.
It kind of played nine players in the first half and then got sent to play six.
He was back in here in the second half.
John Phillips got on the drive trying to call Jonathan Barron and that's bears second.
And we're going to take a break.
319 for the third, Atkinson County trying to extend their lead.
Right now it's ten over Handcock Central here, the Macon Coliseum single-A public championship from a great GPB looks back Macon policy making center blocks 319 for the third Wilkinson county up ten as they chase their eighth state title.
Another great part of the programing here in Georgia public broadcasting this spring don't miss out on all the episodes from GP's Emmy Award winning nature series Georgia Outdoors.
As Sharon Collins explores the beauty of our state, make sure to check out the Georgia Outdoors Facebook page as well for behind the scenes photos, upcoming showtimes and more.
Georgia outdoors only on GPB may have a take a look at how they're doing from the floor here.
29 of 75 and slightly more than one third and drier than last time.
So if you understand the game, the best pass is in this shot.
I think speculation is saying I think this is totally an argument you can make.
Please just get back to the basket.
But because your quickness, you can out play people by going to the offensive glass and rebounding for us and getting footprints in boxing for over nine, one of their first 11 eight of 28 at the half and I've only made two here in the third, three for five in the first ten and three.
And you just made a statement, two for five and two for turnovers.
This court this quarter.
So they've got to protect the ball better.
We got to make shots missed free throw on the second one puts pressuring Ontario coach brings it across our border He Jones the guard point they're able to inside the kitchen around the horn really good player chance at the top zone to do things out of control offensively France in a good job getting inside position for the two margins 11 4029 central looking to work on the inside police going to try to move with his downloads on their system have the physicality seen them in the post.
You may want to get around in the fun or do a better job of denying him the ball.
It's a Prince Scott with 11 Smith for nine Gamecocks in three scoring drive not from behind barehanded mid-major having the leap Scott at it say Hancock sent just at last stage welcome today Leon Jones been very Jones out it's too much loft on about in entry falls Jones will have it start the offense coach Junior Jones there on the last few hard asked his father He's got to take the pass Dickinson this time to take the jump kick start He was going to miss it he's was quickness he got the tip good basketball and now look at these is called frontline for Wilkinson to pass and he's missing his left leg there he goes to the middle.
The last time they didn't double saw him So let me take the shot.
Miss it, but get the offensive foot back.
Good.
Offensive.
Play down low for the big guy here that looks like he's going to court Colson for the foul using that left elbow and so for coach and that'll be his second there Colson just trying to be still able to get position down low John and so we've talked about rebounding John Wilkinson County outscoring Nantucket 22 to 6 and second chance points that John I would say is the main difference the name of the game from a minus five to a plus 11 in a hurry, Coach knocks it out of bounds to add any coaching to what to do on the inbounds Tucker with Scott Tucker.
It's being guarded by Aaron Junior three and Double zero.
Scott one up on there.
It's the muscle second chance follow from behind at No third chance look like this move to see a hand for the body makers of the Michigan Oh oh pass off the glass got a chance here Tony transition just a little bit too much penetration open trace but Wilkinson County has allowed MINKOFF to get back into the game with 30 seconds to go with 7067 right now.
So Hancock Center, as we come up on 25 seconds to go for the third person, he's going to have a lot on it.
We got to find a way to hang on to it.
15 seconds, Tucker.
Right.
Big teardrop, left hand.
Go inside with Jimmy a foul and trying to add some pressure 40 wide.
Getting some minutes here at the end of the third is going to have one last opportunity with 11 seconds for one for flat possession.
Coming up, John Stewart happy Jones dish to bear off the glass.
No coaching foul, no second chance points huge for Wilkinson County in their community that their lead nine point lead for Wilco as the blue storm chase the eighth championship in the career of doctor Aaron Jeter fourth quarter.

This isn't just any team.
This is your home team, okay?
It's not about a team or B team.
It's not about your boss telling you to be a team player or to take one for the team.
No home team is about pride.
It's about standing strong, pulling together and going crazy about a bad call.
You know?
Was right.
But because it was against your home team, it must be wrong.
Look, some people just don't get it because it's not their team.
But Farm Bureau Insurance does because everyone needs a home team for insurance.

Coming.
Monday, April 11, Jackie Robinson on the Great Jeopardy.
You're looking at the numbers after 23 minutes and one star out now.
Happy to have free throws.
There were some time ago.
But for the easy back to the point game so you can't really look at the stats, John, and really just tell the pitcher the game itself is going pretty good just players making plays.
He's out here for playing good game one great escape with the for 730 seconds in there spin room and got and that's the spin room John made me feel like offensively these guys get the play down low versus the three out of two the rookies and Caribbean decides and that foul along.
First of all you can't play behind yes he has his hands up but his body is walking into the offense that was definitely a foul with the body trick finishes with 11 three boards about 38 seconds into the fourth quarter.
And that was your first book of the day, Alice Memories.
You're looking forward to my A and the hype run for me.
I'm Tucker closing.
Yes.
Step inside we got stuck it up in a foul and Wilkinson County and say with the size difference now John Hancock they got to play a little bit more scrappy you don't have the inside presence like you had with Scott so now you've got to tackle, drive and just play scrappy basketball team here.
Now that on Ontario coach his third wins out second off in his place in the rebound quick outlet on fewer puts it back on a one on three with sends the curl the A floater no help came up that's what happens Douglas knocked it out and the system enterprises couldn't catch up They went over 34,000 down ten with 642.
What are you telling me?
He's got me scrambling basketball.
You can't look at the score, John.
You're down by ten points with 640 to go in the game.
He's got to stand for it.
You still can't go out here.
Take me tonight.
Johnny.
Here is a attacking with me, Sam.
French shot.
What do you know?
Hey, nuggets.
It very emphatic about his team is we're told to focus focus, focus.
He knows his opponent very, very well here.
They're going to come all out to do everything they can.
You got to focus.
Chris passes whistle things.
Some of the mandatory and attack tackled offense first passes an attack basically Wilkinson county just reminding him to stay the course yeah play your game you know play smart let's play our game Don't change your game.
What happened to the three foot no tackle back there.
We talked about your threes just jumping out this guy to take him and try to get three point play.
Go fast the way you want.
Have to play central for 10 minutes.
Jones to back it up, Coach talking between cheater elbows rimmed out no hesitation inside position just the presence of the big guys down low was a high again and still Wilkinson down Colson with 1617 boards right now on three off the front of the rim by Brooks now it's like you're going to go to the three shot foul yes And John we talked about how look as this kind of scores three out to win there's the curl inside players to stand for peace and look at that inside presence John is important to get inside presence.
Nice tip That's how he's done.
Got a double double in the game he's got and this is the first free throw one of those nights going to the basket this week to tight.
There for him to touch central not good and some nice little handcuffs five for one for nine for 21 this kind of free throw line on the night the game double to Ontario coach looks like the fouls on Brooks and if it is that'll be his third time you hear here telling his players be patient stay resting when opportunity presents itself But you have to be patient with the ball for 3 minutes for defensive end 12 coach in cheater Wilkinson for 1014 goals made period contain Thompson for offense right back Jones my Tovia Smith backs it back out yet the Ontario coach tried to buy the ball hit the body up there with the tip but he did it too hard and John the best player offensively blue Tracy Miller little terrible with 18 to go but good hands there by he cuts in for the deflection now it's an assisted turnover for Wilkinson to tie 23rd chance to average press time is going to stand there Jones chased by an everyone at the halfway point out 528 now he threw his on his brooks to they don't have to make outside shots to also come from 11 points down with 350 to go John you got to do a good job take the 30 to come up with a five second count.
If he did in bounds.
But Ontario coach put up on the sideline turnover number 13.
So long story short off the rim trying to create too much.
You know John he's attacking really get to the free throw line the last two possessions going to attack the two point shot is definitely not falling for him but central attack the rim though, plenty of time to cut into the ten point deficit down to 330 to go.
You've got to have the basketball to do it.
And guarded by Brooks.
Right.
Thought about it, pull it back out for the start of the new.
That was all the things he's done in practice over the years what this great penetrate you don't have the layup kill the ball scramble on the floor after an empty play calls it 30 and you go into the wayback machine we talk about Wilkinson County chasing history.
Here's a part of that history and the story of the Clinton Jones against Whitfield Academy.
In overtime, he makes the first free throw.
You're in overtime, you're up.
What do you do?
You pull everybody back.
One on three.
Jones gets the rebound himself.
He's go back to the free throw line and ice it for Wilkinson County for that championship against Whitfield Academy back in 2007.
The middle of the big run for the blue storm with John Beck.
All you need is one week to teach the community the text routine, to teach the coaches how to win championships.
All you need is one zone.
But once get that lesson, now you can start building and building and building.
And Jesus does a good job, John, of just teaching this community how be successful, teach these kids how to listen and work hard.
They got a chance to go for number eight here tonight, 99 2000 020 2011 2013 2014.
Not to jinx demands, but in the seven championship games, Wilkinson County has played in their 7000 set with Brooks and threes drives any anyway off the glass no good behind Oh that was smart Brooks Dunn nice hesitation sack in transition good steal now get Hispanics in front of these wrinkles I mean this is a dagger in the foot and you have a chance to make the most of the three point shot.
He's missed a one on one here lately.
And here we go.
It's just a burden game.
We got a chance to come back to his himself first free throw two for eight in a quarter, three for nine, back to single digits, 252.
He'll be okay to walk the perimeter.
Possession of the basketball Jones to be a Smith on the reach at the bottom of the screen three timeout Smith County to rookie some counties playing 9 to 10 players Hancock Central now down to five players because he lost touch He needs it he remains in the timeout here so just make this team the risk calls the play drive off the field to double digits at 5149 split second to create Smith looking to drive free fly Got it timeout we talked about these guys all the time now you get close to this and after the game I thought he saw the court a little earlier so you can see first of all the other kids the rest and then talk about strategy.
You don't want a foul on film at the free throw line where you can set up the first defense and he talking about top story in the last two weeks of the game, Smith has 13 season average of eight that's going I like how tough it is to go no shot from scratch.
We got to get kids out this match.
He's got a chance the other way.
He's not because he wants his kids to have confidence when they go to the strike.
So then you address it as we make the free throw.
Yes.
Yes.
That's a great, real critical job when you make the futures, guys, this is what we want.
A set of free throws and dead balls for.
The runner with the shift changes that look go hands.
They have seven players with scores.
Hancock only has five of the seven that they can put out there to score officially on the day.
The press coming out of the timeout, Wilkinson gets it brought up he's got first on a team that likes transition a stop to mistakes first and everything Tucker after L.A. coach for the foul it'll be his fourth Definitely not the soccer coach I'm going to give looks Yes he came down and he needed to move forward fouling the perimeter and got hit.
Six of those three things.
Look at this talking down my by is it's those six control two point game so to go in small the way he's playing don't play to position number three just in of last week about 3 seconds away and 80 seconds ball those guys right here and by to try to again right offensive presence of five by the graduate soccer coach one of the two on the drive Tucker knocks it off coach and it stays with Hancock Stanford as we come up for the last minute stay avoid those things here the rebound gets it gets it it's basketball to the championship before he got here for the most innovative and he got the good the bad the bad read the same play.
It's emotional across all these teams.
John has just so much time all season long and now it comes down to one game.
The Champions game versus a team in your region as well.
So this is an emotional game for friends and to color Jason his third man Isaiah Tucker to the line the one on one rimmed out that's going to save it off the rebound The top ranked team in single right boys Robinson County going up against number four in concentration like twice in the regular season split up A big front line for Robinson County has come on baby goes it down here junior the drive from the start throws it down some 13 times.
He's won this 60 for his masterpiece as well Top spot Wilkinson County and Doctor Aaron Zener the superintending and schools can take their championship back to the palace in Arlington, he said.
When the game started.
Dr. Jeter has mentioned a lot of the times that if you're going to win in single basketball, you've got to drive down Georgia 57 to make sure that it happens to right back on Georgia.
57 today is going to be all blue, scoring park is a great game.
