He's coming in.
It's a slam jam.
The pull up from three.
Watch this guy go drive, backs it in and gets it.
Hello, everybody, and welcome from the Making Center plex.
It's the GHC basketball Championships.
Game one of many through Saturday night at 845.
Tommy Fulmer, along with D.J.
Shockley, great Georgia player, deejay.
Good to have you alongside today.
Pleasure to be along a ledge like yourself.
We have a great basketball game today.
We've got Randolph Play and Gordon Lee.
Let's talk first about the great players.
There are many, but there are some standout players.
Randolph play and like you just mentioned.
Randolph Play is loaded with talent on his team.
But one girl, I'm really particularly looking forward to looking to is Kobe forward as he averages 14 points a game.
She's a very dynamic player who can shoot chicken rebound And Tommy, she's only a freshman.
One of the best players on the field are on the court, as we would like to say for Gordon Lee is number five.
Wow.
She makes some things happen.
Yeah, it starts and ends with her.
And her name is Cassidy Blevins.
She's a girl who understands the game.
She starts on offense, defense side of the court.
But her biggest thing is that she stay on the court and stay out of foul trouble if she does that.
I think they have a really good chance.
A gantlet against Randolph.
All right.
Let's take a look at what's going to be the keys to success for either.
Let's go to Raven.
Before we do that, we'll come back to the keys to success.
Let's go to the third member of our team.
Raven, Toronto.
Raven.
Hey, thanks, Tommy.
The biggest obstacle for Gordon Lee to get to the big dance today was going through that region six.
I talked to Coach Galion earlier and he said going through Region six prepared them for the talent that they would see today.
He also said that it made it a little bit more difficult, he said, but if he's able to maintain pressure and able to defeat the two posts down low on Randolph's team, they should be successful.
He also said, Hey Randolph, their talent is not any better than the talent we've seen all season.
Back to you guys.
Let's take a look at the starting lineups brought to you by Regions Bank.
And as we take a look at the starting lineup for Randolph Blake, Adrianna Blackman, Kanika, Washington, Annika, Washington, Yes, they're twins, Koby Thornton and Brianna Thornton, by the way.
They are sisters now for Gordon League, Cassidy Blevins, Katie Barker, Taylor Hartline, Kaylee Kimbrough and Katelyn Lee.
And those are the starting lineups brought to you by Regions Bank.
It's time to expect more.
The keys to success.
T. S. C. G. R. T. C. G. Learn more, Earn more.
Randolph.
Clay.
Randolph.
Clay has to keep the pressure on it.
Known for their pressure defense that they're trapping.
They like to get up.
They like to pressure you early.
They like to create turnovers as well.
If they can get a couple free baskets here and there and it give them an edge in this game on the other side before too late, they must stay out of foul trouble and keep their key players on the court and also control the boards because we know what Randolph Clay likes.
Do they like to crack score to get many rebounds?
All right.
Let's go to the tip there at mid-court.
It's time to play ball.
Caitlyn Lee from Gordon Lee at center court, as is Koby Thornton.
We're ready.
And the crowds are really beginning to come in in white.
Gordon Lee Tip goes to Randolph Clay Randolph Clay wearing Jones County uniforms, hopefully will get a an explanation later and a jumper at the top of the key.
Good bye Calico Washington.
Very job.
Very good job for her.
Finding the open hole in that zone and getting a nice jump up and good start here from where my play early good ball movement Cassidy Blevins left side got a lane going to drive far and it's blocked the rebound comes down to Kelly Kimbrel a cross court now jumper and no good three second 3 seconds Yeah you don't get that much you got to be bear to move in there you don't get that much time in there right No chance in the lane Randolph play Gordon Lee a little bit of pressure moving in back court.
Half court pressure.
The drive and the shot up.
No good.
Whistle a little foul.
Somebody went down hard.
And that's the thing about that pressure.
If you can break that deal for pressure and get back, you're only going up two or three girls that are back waiting for you.
So they were able to attack and get to the get to the rim and get a foul issue here.
All right.
Your referees, our Darryl Lane, your umpires, Glenda Bird and the umpire is Tim McClane.
Today just under way free throws up and good.
Adrianna Blackman at the line.
Second one, no good rebound Gordon League state class, a public championship for the girls.
We saw Bree on the floor and get a block early average almost three blocks a game and you can see here down low first afternoon by Caitlin Lane Nice ball movement by Gordon Lee Absolutely great movement.
They're getting the ball into that big girl and making sure she's able to get the ball a great position on the inside as well.
Caitlin Lee, she's there.
She's the go to player here.
Good ball movement, good defense, pressure defense three ball up no good off the rim rebound comes out We're sorry we said a little difference down low good pass inside from Gordon Lee good ball movement and up and in just great position there by Taylor she got great position on Brown and able to get in there and get in the basket into that paint Cassidy Blevins driving fires good got the good roll to there and we're seeing caliber set here Gordon Lee seemed like the more attacking type of team today.
We know that Grandma Clay likes a tag but Gordon Lee the more the attacker of the two we saw, we were going to see full court pressure from Randolph play.
We've not seen that.
We've seen it from Gordon Lee.
Nice pass inside the shot blocked lead pass up and good block the block that was big by K to link and it led to the transition point there where Locksley has to get back.
I don't think they're used to getting their ball blocked.
They're used to going out and blocking basket by Taylor Hard line, who was a game time decision.
All right.
Let's take a look at the pass down inside Thornton's blocked by Lee and the best thing about that, she went straight off.
She didn't go into the body of the player.
She went straight up, was still able to get the block and it led to the transition points part lot of game time decision obviously a good decision Thornton trying to go baseline good defense still Blevins Good There it is right here.
Burger Getting out and running.
Get into the passing lanes And another big transition points for Gordon Lee here.
Gordon late eight run batted out of bounds.
Gordon Lee is all over the place defensively and looks like a zone but it's an attacking zone and they get out loses perfect 201 giving goal away to get the bucket Gordon at least four out of five from the floor top of the key Randolph play a driving shot from the corner blocked again Cassidy Blevins for three My goodness 455 And it's been Gordon Lee just really getting after it on defense.
Gordon Lee by five.
And that's a reason why we highlighted Cassidy.
I mean, she is playing vital right here.
Randolph play inbounds or Lee is in the zone but they got to find a way to attack it like they just did, attack it and dish and get some buckets on the outside so they start getting shots.
Gordon Lee's not going to come out of the zone.
Washington to Washington, top of the key Randolph play really slowed it down And Thornton, the freshman turnaround jumper no good off the back iron and here comes Gordon Lee Blevins long pass to Hartline now back to the top of the key three ball no good rebound and comes out of there Tiffany Holland jumper no good runner up ball is saved by Gordon Lee and now out of bounds who batted it away I think Randolph play right now make time for Lee is just beating Randolph play to the ball right now they're the one who are the aggressors going after the ball and loose ball they're coming up with all the 5050 balls this time out on the court.
Gordon Lead by 5823.
It's been Gordon Lee for the last 3 minutes of this first quarter from the girls state class AA public school championship.
We'll be right back with big You don't love me.
Good afternoon by Gordon Lee.
Thus far, it's almost like Randolph Clay is a little shell shocked at the defense.
You are here.
It's.
It's kind of amazing to see what's going on right now.
We expected so much more for run of play with their pressure.
We talked about it in the open, them being the more pressure team.
But right now Gordon Lee is being the aggressor.
They're going after the ball, they're attacking their zone and they don't seem like they're afraid of Randolph play right now.
Who's on a big time win streak?
Did you know GPB Sports has a Facebook page?
You better check us out and like us and be a part of the GPB sports family.
See you behind the scenes pictures and get info about all high school sports around the state like us.
And you'll be in the know about all things high schools sports Randolph Play one for five.
Gordon Lee four for seven.
Wow wow that's good productivity right there that getting to the basket They got some low shots but they're also getting it inside the getting inside to Caden Lisi made some blocks on a deep inside of the quarter and also producing on offense as well.
Gordon Lee runs the floor extremely well and Warner they play some defense.
Yeah.
Raven what do you see from your vantage point?
Well, I was over there at the Randolph Huddle and Coach was just saying, Guys, you're just getting your butt kicked out there.
You just need to play harder and you need to go to the hole.
Back to you guys.
All right.
Momentum right now and there's plenty of it.
Listen, we talked about it the first three or 4 minutes of the ballgame in the first three or 4 minutes of the half.
Very important times in a ballgame.
Most critical and just great stat here by statistician Kevin Barnes.
They got Gordon Lee Aiden in the paint eight points in the paint Cassidy Blevins pass intercepted tipped there here's Randolph Klay wearing the purple and the goal cross-court pass to Washington tied jump ball Blevins is in there and the arrow goes to Jordan Lake Gordon the league average 66 points per game and allowing on a 49 the way they run the floor.
You can understand a 66.
He is right about that.
They do run the floor.
They push it like no other.
Look at the ball movement.
Holy smokes Cassidy Blevins bounce on the ball all over the place.
He is all over the course.
He is quick.
She is quick.
And she's the reason why they need her on the court.
You can see why she's their pacesetter and gets this team going.
And hopefully, you know, coach Jennifer Kreis got into her Randolph Clay girls and making sure, hey, they're feeling well and upbeat right now.
They look shellshocked.
Here's Randolph play shots up and no good guess who Cassidy Blevins always around the ball pull up no shot from there looking looking Now I've got to push it back outside to burger up No good follow up.
No good rebound Thornton Nope.
Yeah.
Thornton Out of there now Randolph play on a break up bang.
No good offense if that's who it is.
Cassidy.
Blevins Attention, Cassidy.
Blevins She is making plays on both sides of the court.
There she gets to a position where she's able to set her feet and you see, get a set and able to take the charge, maybe a little movement.
But she got there in time to get the call.
Listen, you have to have a little movement.
You just have to.
That's painful.
This is a hard floor.
All right.
Blevins Cross-court Pass Pollard down low, back outside, batted away from me.
Would you agree this is a little little strange to see Randolph play not him at attacking man style of play that they're usually in in since they're sitting back a little bit letting going lead dictate this game.
Something has changed from the philosophy I heard yesterday shots up no good airball here comes Randolph play Washington hop and no good rebound battle What a battle under there tip and now out in front pull up back outside down on the corner Shots up.
No good rebound for Thornton Thornton's going to come out of there with it now we got the running gun going.
Here we go.
No good fouls on Blevins.
How does she get back so quickly?
She's a hustler.
I mean, that's the good thing about the other night.
It's a state championship.
You got to make sure you're prepared and ready.
There's no game out there.
So she's definitely given everything she's got to the senior, so she must play her best game tonight in the state championship game.
And like you said, it makes it is running good now, Adrianna BLOCK going up the line.
This is the first of two Gordon League coach Lester Gougeon seems to be in charge of things today that he does.
He has his girls running.
He hasn't playing really well right now.
Here's his pressure we talked about here.
There it is, 1110 four rebound lead Gordon League substitutions Katherine Chambers into the ball game shot from three no good batted away he touched that last Randolph play ball You know I just saw something on that series I'm not sure they're going to do it every series but Randolph Clay got into a box of wonder what a box they had.
A man just go after Cassie Butler because wherever she went, she wasn't even in the paint.
She was way back in about three point line.
It was coming.
It might be a good idea.
Washington Top of the game now.
I'm going to try to go inside.
Can't those right side looking inside no air ball, full court pressure.
my bad.
In the way Cassidy Blevins knocked out of bounds.
Let's get the guy hands there.
It came right at me that time, you know, It's okay.
You can handle it, Kimbrel.
See there's it There's the issue there and it to take her out of the game right now.
Yes, sir.
And they're going to give up a few fouls in order to do that.
Long ball up.
No good.
Three.
No good.
Here comes Randolph.
Play on the run Washington Driving batted away by Blevins Blevins Cassidy the other way across the halfcourt line looking down low nothing they're going to pull it back out now she's going to drive Look at that shot Wow Holy smokes.
What a shot.
Do you see what they want?
A box of wonder.
I mean, she found a way to get inside that zone with a man coverage on her and she still got inside.
It made up for the athletic shot.
They're right down Main Street.
Right down Main Street.
One minute left in the quarter.
It's all Gordon Lee, ten for early on.
Shots Up No Good by Blackman, Washington, Washington.
Watch this.
There's the steal Blevins with the steal.
Thornton going to go to the line and shoot to Thornton up for her second shot.
It's ten five.
It has been Gordon Lee.
They have definitely controlled the tempo of this game.
I mean, they are definitely, like you said, the pace setter slowed down on their team.
But this whole game, what a nice touch for a freshman.
Koby Thornton from Randolph play.
Amazing.
Amazing.
That's how you beat the press, folks.
You pass it to death.
Look up there up, man.
And that is that is what's it called?
Textbook text.
Keep the moving right there.
There you go.
Hey, they definitely have worked on that press.
And that's what you do in the press.
You got it.
You got a pass.
You can't try to dribble your way through it because it not just going to be trap.
Washington to Washington long distance no good Barton follow good Toby Barton answers with that basket long forward pass Kobe started to make a presence known now down inside but all we think is run off Klay They got to get back.
Once they make the basket, they got to get back once.
Thornton Excellent excellent position and back up and in.
They're going to have to do that my three ball from downtown I mean it's it's raining right now because they are shooting the basket 10 seconds to go here.
They're still traffic.
No cheap basket right here.
And in all, that's a killer.
That's the key basket we talked about where no play did normally we thought it would take it folded 70 into eight.
All right.
It's been Gordon Lee Randolph play has awakened at the halfway point in the quarter.
We've got a dandy.
It's 710 to 8.
Gordon, a late Trojans over to Randolph play or babbles welcome back to the Making Center.
Flex action is Fast and furious.
Gordon Lee, 17 to 8 over Randolph play Georgia Tech whiz kids have teamed up to compete for cash in a U.S. battle with a 2013 and venture fries at Georgia Tech.
Tune in to GPB Tuesday, March 13 at 7:00 to see six finalist, demonstrate and defend their innovations in front of a panel of expert judges and to see who will be this year's champion.
This is something you can't miss only on GPB.
Cassidy Blevins has been all that and a bag of chips, as they say, perhaps.
He has definitely controlled his game.
You think about a person who scored on the orphan side and now she's got.
BLOCK She's taking a charge.
She's done everything under the sun in that first quarter to put our team up.
I would be willing to bet you that she offered to drive the bus coming back absent.
She is she's the reason why we talked about She must be on the floor.
She's on the floor.
They're doing productive things.
All right.
If you're wondering why Randolph play is wearing purple and gold Jones County uniforms, they were under the impression they were the home team.
They brought their wives and Gordon Lee brought their white.
So somebody had to give up.
And Jones County volunteered and gave up the uniforms.
The numbers are the same.
We've given you the correct team's numbers and hopefully that's not too much confusion for our friends back home in southwest Georgia.
Here is Cassidy Blevins as we head into the second quarter, 17 to 8.
Gordon Lee on to Mats Evans with us.
But he's Evans He's who they come out of the break.
Gordon Lee puts the pressure on and they throw the ball away and get a turnover.
Fortunately, they get it right back left.
Gordon Lee They had five players who scored there in the first quarter, some balance scoring on their side, Washington and Washington in back court across the time line.
Now far court top of the key Blackmon looking for Washington now Thornton nice little touch but the ball's no good rebound down to Caitlin Lee and Gordon Lee's running Caitlin shot that one a little bit behind Taylor Hartline who by the way was a game time decision and she's she's played well she has a solid record just Raven told us that Gordon Lee's emphasis for the second quarter to make sure they keep a body we Gordon Blackman down the lane no good rebound hard line Blevins right side down deep up no good.
There's a battle going on between Barton Thornton and Caitlin Lee from Gordon.
From Gordon Lee.
Probably respect that all night, all day long because they're definitely battling down low.
It's going to be one in the paint.
They had eight points in the first quarter just in the paint alone.
If you don't think so, folks, this is serious business.
These girls are after it out there.
Great basketball thus far and no good.
Tatum Lee again with a rebound I had Blevins pass up the Hartline Good Then that leads right into what Raven told us about before the quarter ended.
They were ran off.
Clay is getting outhustled by Gordon me right now you can see that every transition they're getting back nobody's getting back for Randolph Blake Barber on the foul look at Blevins to Hartline.
There's no reason why they should be out running right now.
Play right now just to get back.
Randolph plays doing a good job of finding the hole, trying to be patient.
It's just not falling to him yet.
But they got to continue to be patient and get back on defense somehow.
Gordon Early run again.
Param goes inside Blackman down inside shot's up no good whistle and a foul that's going to be I think on Hartline Taylor Hartline check and see Yes Hartline great job there by Randolph play once again they found something in that zone they keep getting to the free throw line trying to hit that shot.
They gotta hit that unless they want to be successful because they're giving them that.
They're just not hitting it.
There's an all folks score while the clock has stopped.
Any time you go to the foul line, you need to score shots up.
And good.
Number two, back the need.
The Washington falls through 19 denied.
And here comes Cassidy Blevins top of the key down to Lee's inside back outside shot's good That's the difference in the game right now.
Vaughn Lee is getting their shots, putting the pressure on Randolph.
Blake and Randolph Play hasn't responded to it yet.
Tiffany Holman with the basket crossed the time line.
Blackmon's going to set Randolph play at looking carom Washington jumper off the front of the hour No good scramble for the ball out bounds normally scrambling they're just this hard ball out there They had a good shot at the basket had a chance for a second offensive rebound could come down with it for Lee as a possession now and you can't forget Randolph Clay is averaging winning by 28.7 a game 11 double teamed and now drives the lane and goes down hard travel Did they call it a travel or a foul?
They just just lost it.
yeah.
They caught a charge.
Ooh offensive foul down hard this.
Yeah.
Cassidy Blevins What's this.
Let's see.
And she went down hard.
Yeah.
I'm not sure how that ball went over but obviously was going to be offensive foul off players two for 14 from the floor param Blackman on the left side looking playing peekaboo trying to get in the lane Gordon Lee has got it just boxed up in there and there's another steal.
Lee picks up the loose ball and gets it to Cassidy Blevins Bobby Thorn has to learn once he gets that ball somewhere near there, they're attacking her.
She can't put it on the floor, lead down inside her.
Tell you what, Gordon Lee collapses on the ball in the middle about as well as any time I've ever seen.
That's what I was just thinking.
They get on it.
Once the ball gets down in the paint, they collapse on it.
You saw three white jerseys, got around the ball was called the going got it Washington param Blackman top of a key left side nothing there goes right side shots up bang good nice touch Bocanegra Washington finally get his shot to fall through and maybe that's some confidence they need it right there to spark their offense.
Now they need a cold start from the defense side.
Blevins Behind the back dribble batted away as they try to go inside the Lee Blackman puts on the brakes gets it to Powell param looking inside Washington again got it found the spot and that's the roster spot gets it 21 to 13 give me the ball see Devin McFarland spot first they were flashing to that high post now they're on the wing and they found a spot in the zone.
This is to be interesting to see it all.
He comes out of that zone like he did more shots downtown.
Good nice touch by Adebayo Hannah Gordon Lee must go eight or nine deep.
Yeah they have to I mean they're here pretty deep team that can really push the ball You can tell about his style of play they need a lot of players to get in the game because they really pushed the effort.
Blackman To Washington foul.
She's in a spot to time pick and roll.
Hey yeah When you find that spot, you keep going to it.
First team, right?
Kaylie Kimbrel All right, it is time down on the 23 to 13.
Here's your score.
Let's take a look at Washington.
Shot is up and good.
Almost.
Look, There's your jumper there on time.
My jumper is good.
21 to 11 back and I'm over your gourd.
Holy Trojans out of Chickamauga, 23 Randolph playing Lady Red Devils out on home on Georgia 1323 to 13.
As we come back to the Macon Center, players take a trip around our great state of Georgia.
On Georgia Traveler From the mountains to the coast, our traveling team explores the state's most beautiful, exciting and unique treasures.
Don't miss Georgia Traveler on the great GPB.
I love this show.
I actually watch the show.
I like it.
David Zelensky is a fantastic guy to watch it.
He's everywhere.
He's been hosting that show for many years now and it is a very good show.
I highly recommend that if you're traveling for traveling, I love to travel The state of Georgia, you can see anything in the world.
It's the most beautiful state in Asia.
I agree.
I'm a homegrown guy, so I know all about the state of Georgia.
I'm proud of the state of Georgia.
So I'm with you on that.
Tommy.
Lester Gowdy and the head coach of the Gordon Lee Trojans.
There are no banners.
Gordon Lee has never won a championship.
No.
In their gymnasium, zero zero.
Wow.
Randolph, play one in 96.
In 2000.
They've got some in there and they're two.
They can maintain what they have going on right now.
Here's a chance they can get their first zone.
And this is looking very, very high for him.
But 2313 right now, they're doing very good.
Well, Coach.
Yeah.
And I'm no authority, but just looking at him, he's playing the game here.
Hey, what do you think?
Look at it.
Absolutely.
Like he demands a lot of faith from these girls and they're responding right now.
I would bet he played inside Either he was a forward that wore it out every time he played.
What you ought to bet.
I bet I could see that.
All right.
Could they go Washington at the line short again, off the run on a yard, Randolph plays two out of four, Gordon Only three out of five in the second quarter.
Great stats over here.
Kevin Barnes.
He's the man.
He is the man.
Gavin Barnes giving us all this pertinent information.
Chops up off the line.
No good rebound JT Kimbrel 11 stops, pops fires short, follow up, bounces around no good rebound Randolph Clay Blackmon fires good after glass nice fast break that time by the lady Red devil.
They turn it into almost a transition score They're getting out and running and getting to the basket attacking That's something that ran up play has to do more up.
Here's the transition Blackmon pulls up got it off the glass.
That's why they put the square up there.
Blevins From downtown.
my.
my.
Was that was that was technique right there.
Not only is she a ball handler, she's a shooter.
Folks up off the rim no good by Randolph play Blackmon with a shot here's Blevins triggers it down on the left hand side down near the lane back outside looking looking inside.
Now a cross court got an opening a runner up off.
That's about such nice touch right there.
That's that that's a floater.
You want to get into the into the lane and you just lay it up Burger with the nice runner to Washington and Blackman and back court for the lady Red Devils Blackman trying to drive the lane Thornton Turn around no good.
Breanna Thornton and Koby Thornton are sisters.
One is a freshman, one as a sophomore.
Number 40, if you're watching there.
Breanna is the sophomore.
Kobe is the freshman here.
Here's where they have to get points.
You see them go to the free throw line a couple times and have not been able to capitalize on getting to the foul line Paramount for Randolph.
But these are these are pretty much lost possessions that they have to have off the front of the rim.
No good.
Again, here comes love and looking down on a corner.
Got a shot.
Good.
wow.
They they are having some great looks at the basket And nobody's also they're not blocking out because the ball comes off.
I saw two white jerseys in the paint and none for Randolph Blake Barger with the shot and good black one up and good nice motivation by Randolph Blake 3117 Just over a minute left here's Gordon leave a runner Good That's a thing.
Barner right back.
they're coming right back.
And Randolph Clay gets the score.
They're not waiting.
They're not saying.
Okay, you got that, will they?
Coming right back and pushing the ball right back.
Everyone looks like when Randolph plays, cause it's almost like Gordon Lee screams fire.
Drill Washington from her spot.
No good.
Thornton with a follow now here's Gordon Lee Blevins looking looking three ball with they just feel a lot of somebody has to get out and get a hand up and stop it to the basket.
He's going to have a long day.
She's had a career the first half here.
She yes, she has.
She has.
Adrianna Blackmon ahead to Washington.
but a Thornton Thornton to Blackmon driving to Thornton up no good off the glass.
Here they go again.
Rebound lays Blevins in the corner it up by now way down challenge that goes for shot right here What a little range filling it she's feeling it and defense that was just a little bit of time left All right let's go over to Raymond Tirado and talk to the garden league coach the Lester Galleon Raven Hey coach Galleon the things that you talked about earlier, maintaining pressure and maintaining the post, it seems like you've done that.
What are some of the other adjustments you need to do going into this next half?
They did a good job against our zone of getting a shooter on each side.
So we had we've been able to sort of cheat a little bit and rotate our zone to, you know, to the to the left side of the floor.
And then they got to shoot on the right side of the floor also.
So we got to do a better job now with our top two girls.
It's tough, though, because they got a good penetrator up top and then they've got, you know, a shooter on each wing.
So, you know, you sort of have to pick your poison.
So, you know, we'll we'll try to just cheat to him, get a hand in their face and hope they miss some.
You've got nine fouls going in this half, probably a little more than you would like.
What's your message to your girls to kind of calm it down?
Well, it's not just the number of fouls because I play a lot of people, but it too, the fouls are on.
So, I mean, it's it's our three key players are the ones that have to fouls each of which you got to play.
So we're just going to go out there and, you know, we don't want any dumb fouls, but if they're playing and they happen to pick up one, that's just part of the game.
Thanks a lot, coach.
Appreciate it.
Back to you.
Mark Craven, thanks so much.
Coming up at the half, we'll hear from both principals.
We'll also have statistics and highlights in the first half.

All right, It's time to play that game.
Are you smarter than your students?
A question from our Today in Georgia History project.
So your question is from October 19, 1790, which historical Georgian was a minister?
Dr..
Governor of the State and signer of the Declaration of Independence was a day Lyman Hall.
B Monty Hall C John Hancock, our Deon Sanders.
Those some interesting selections.
I'm going to choose Lyman Hall, though.
Lyman Hall is absolutely right.
You're smarter than your students.

All our student bodies being pumped up.
We brought down to spirit busses about half of our school student bodies down here today watching the ball game, and they're very excited.
Now, Gordon Lee is never won a girl's state championship champ, a state championship.
What would it mean for your school to win one today?
That's correct.
We have and and, you know, this has been an incredible year and our girls have been phenomenal.
Our softball team won a state championship.
Our wrestling teams won the doors of professionals.
Our cross country was runner up in the state.
And this has just been a phenomenal year for Gordon Lee Athletics and our girls basketball team.
We couldn't be more proud of you.
All right, let's play the game.
Are you smarter than your students?
A question from our Today in Georgia History project.
Your question is, when gold was discovered in north Georgia, thousands in the miners swarmed in the mountains in what the Cherokees called sack of jewelry to be.
You find them, we told them, see the great intrusion or D a minor interruption.
I believe it was C the great intrusion.
That's absolutely right.
You're right.
You're smarter than your students.
Thanks for coming on and good luck here.
15 minutes away from a championship.
Thank you.
All right.

Mark All right.
A lot of enthusiasm here.
They're fired up with the second half.
my gosh.
These fans are absolutely incredible.
I've just been so impressed.
They have had energy the entire time.
I'm sure it's going to continue throughout the second half and it's just game one, folks.
Here we come back.
We got the second half for the single-A public school state championship.
Live from the Coliseum live on GPB.
You stay with us.
And like us on Facebook, Welcome back to the Coliseum.
Coach, you worked so hard to get here, it doesn't even seem like the same team that's here tonight.
What's been the biggest frustration for you?
Maybe it's frustration is that just not playing?
And that's when I went in the locker room at halftime.
I really got on them my day after, you know, I said the same thing that you just say, we worked too hard to get this point and not even shower with effort.
So I spent about a half hour.
I think, like I told you, we can't get those 17 points.
One possession.
We've got to give them possession.
My position there was concern on our defense.
Thanks so much, Coach.
Back to you guys.
Casity Blevins has really had a great first half.
Take a look at this.
I guess he's been dynamics he's done it on both ends of the court penetrating getting to the basket, getting our other teammates involved.
And also because he's had a couple blocks he's had a chance he's taken earlier since he's done everything possible.
Let's take a look at the Georgia Farm Bureau stats of the first half field goals.
Gordon Lee, 16 out of 29 three pointers, four out of 11, no free throws, five out of 12 for Randolph play.
You got to score when the clock is stop rebounds 19 to 13 in favor of Goran lead.
Let's get this second half going possession out to Gordon Lee and here is Cassidy Blevins at the top of the key whistle.
Was there a problem?
I think the clock wasn't running at him.
I'm not sure I'm not either.
But we're going to get another look at it here at half court.
Yeah, we go 11.
They got to put two bodies on Blevins.
They've got to find some way to stop her traveling.
Katie Lager took one too many steps.
What they really cannot do is call turnovers on their own and get free possessions away.
Blackman Down to Thornton up no good.
The other Thornton bounces off her fingers and here comes Gordon, Really once more.
Blevins got a screen, got a shot.
No good tip.
The rim tipped around and it comes out.
Randolph Play on the run.
Here comes Washington.
Going to pull up, get it back to Blackman Top of the key right side Washington three shot no good try to be saved no good ball goes Gordon league little yeah a little little more intensity by Randolph play here in the first minute of this absolutely I agree with you just an empty possession right there for Randolph play and you got to do a little bit better but you can see already Gordon Lee is trying to find other ways to get the ball in his blood on his hands.
Blevins To Barber Barger Drive fires Runner No good Thornton ahead to Blackmon one on one with Blevins drives no good Blevins rebound pulls it out of there looking all the way down the court It's going to trigger it pull up go left side down on the corner to Barger, down under to lead Back outside, back down to lead.
Turn around.
No good.
Thornton with the block.
Great job.
Great job of following my good defense by Randolph Play that trip down the floor Absolutely going the extra good movement of ball right there but they got it down low into position they want it but weren't able to capitalize on it.
Blackmon Right side crosscourt pass back out top of the key.
Blackmon looking to Washington left side.
Blevins with a steal lead ahead to barber cuts behind and throws it up No good Burger What the carom shot is up, no good rebound comes out.
Randolph playing Washington on the drive past.
Blevins No good.
Blevins With a rebound.
Randolph Clay just rushing the shot there.
They have what they want it.
Blevins gave it up.
She didn't want to commit a foul and they just could not get the shot going.
Varga From outside, no good Rebound.
Gordon Only Blevins pulls up, blocked by Thornton Washington pulls it down and Blackmon is going to slow it down.
Blackmon got to walk it down the floor crossed the time line.
Gordon Leon at two three zone defense you can see they're making sure to get in the body.
Owens will be going down low.
Ooh, very close.
Gordon up and in Nice move nice passing good ball movement Koby Thornton down inside Pacers is the best thing right there for right now play finding and getting the ball movement in the down low and making sure they get a good shot off.
For those of you who just jaundice at home, 44 is a freshman in the darker uniform in the purple uniform.
Can you imagine what she's going to look like as a senior?
Here's Blackman driving to Washington up and in.
That's how you run it.
That's how you run it to transition right there.
And that's a good job of coming out of halftime.
You just heard coach say he want to come out with the ball and they did.
Gordon the lead 36 Randolph play 23 We've got up all game nothing happy that something is happening We'll be back the making cineplex in just a moment the battle for the liberties that's all right.
Seven 3623 Gordon Lee 513 wrap up play two out of five as we go into the third quarter here Gordon Lee zero for seven Here's how they got those two baskets down to Koby Thornton up off the glass and good she's a freshman folks.
And now a fast break to Washington on the break run on the floor.
Perfect play.
Good pass right there.
And the last look I've been in.
Yeah, Coach likes that one.
23 points.
That's good.
36.
23.
Look at the coach.
Yes, he's got it.
That's the spectrum.
That's the energy she's been looking for in the first half that she didn't get.
So now they're getting to come out of halftime, getting some good buckets up, getting some blocks.
They had two blocks already in this third quarter.
You only had one in entire first quarter.
You would expect the full court press more than that for fastbreak points today.
Total D.J.
Yeah.
Have we haven't really seen wind up play give the full court pressure that we're used to seeing out of this wind up play team Kobe Thornton has got to get the ball more to six points in the paint in the first half for Randolph like that tells you why they're down 13.
Here's that pressure we talked about full court pressure power.
Remember the ball game?
Here's Blevins Blevins driving.
Pull up.
Nice touch.
But it falls off the rim and Gordon Lay will maintain possession.
You can see the sense of urgency right now for Randolph play there Beverley with the full court press, they trying to get some easy baskets here they make this game cut it down to get it under ten.
I think they would feel more comfortable with this game going into the fourth lead.
On the inbounds and the corner.
Blevins got the shot.
No, no good.
Got a good roll.
Follow up.
No good.
Out of bounds.
Gordon Lee is zero for eight here in the second second half, and that does not bode well.
The first three or 4 minutes of each half is key.
And there's Blevins with an almost steal and there's a scramble tonight all over the place.
Thornton broke for the basket and Washington.
There was a possession.
They had four white jerseys on one and they could just got one pass more.
Got it inside they had an easy bucket 11 to Lee they break the pressure on over to Blevins left side top of the key to Lee Blevins drives the lane passes no girl Lee with a rebound got a follow hook shot you don't see that much anymore batted away by Thornton she's bringing something new out the repertoire of seven of you Blackman Top of the game.
We've got some action, folks.
We've got some serious action.
Now.
Play is gaining confidence Washington with a shot from the corner.
Blevins Driving off the glass wall.
that was an athletic.
Move out of nowhere.
Buzz Hello, Macon.
I like that one.
Passing Bill Evans off the glass.
Blackmon drives and misses.
no.
Good.
Follow Thornton No good Great team.
Also great team also by lamb off Clay working working inside Look at Blevins watch this shot pokes off of the right leg.
leaner.
that's the leaner that time the girl has to love to watch this girl play basketball.
You come to make him watch him like Washington, Thornton and Blevins.
They can play the game up no good.
Batted away on the fast break good defense by Randolph play.
Absolutely.
We've seen a difference in the first half to the second half they're getting back on defense now, not giving these easy buckets to Gore.
Luke Blevins triggers that outside back to Lee driving up and yeah that's a nice basket pass Courtney that is that was an excellent play there paid only Clinton on the floor in attacking the basket 40 to 25 Gordon lead by 15 Thornton batted around turn around jumper No good Follow no good follow good There we go.
That's see that's that's what Randolph needs to do.
That's something they didn't do in the first half was getting second chance points.
Here's Gordon Lee on the break.
Got it By getting back Fallon on the break.
Just praise him for getting back then they didn't get back from that possession after having a good possession of offense.
Here's Blackman looking inside gets Thornton batted away and picked up by Gordon Lee Here's Highland on the break Collin got a pull up go look for Blevins not there looking for Lee top of the key Got to drive and put it up on deck just tired at a time out because that's like always in the season look gas right now he's not getting back all the way on defense like she should but Gordon Lee is just pushing the ball.
17 point lead for the lady Trojans long distance downtown no good rebound Gordon Lee Barger no good Follow up.
Blevins Good there for three for white jerseys that you know of the Randolph played girls and even got back 14 points for Blevins now shot is up no good right now Fire back of the backboard 123 Randolph play establish great momentum coming out of the dressing room but the last two or 3 minutes D.J.
Gordon Lee has been hot and that's the reason why they're here.
It's a reason why Raleigh is here they've withstand adversity.
They came out hot and now back at it with the Washington 10 to 2 Gordon Lee run points in the paint today.
Randolph play 22 Gordon lead ten That's surprising WHISTLE and a foul.
You know we've not had many fouls today right about it it's been pretty clean up on third third foul the big three yeah been pretty clean.
Hey it's a good thing about a championship game They let the girls play I tell you what.
And you got that racehorse mentality.
Why?
You got it?
There's Washington.
I tell you, she can shoot.
She's pretty good.
On the right side over there batted out of bounds.
Washington going to be called for the foul Blevins Forced out of bounds for her first team foul in the second half.
Unbelievable.
Blevins Driving off the glass.
My goodness.
My question is, who's going to stop the ball?
Somebody has to stop the ball.
You can't let somebody just penetrate through the zone, stop the ball, because if not, she's going to continue to 1018 point lead.
Thornton fighting for the rebound.
Lee comes out of there with it Here comes the glove.
And again looking the court stops pulls up fires three no good Holland with a rebound Out to Blevins from downtown no good pulled out of the air Washington drive scores Washington Good job of taking it to the basket attacking attacking Blevins right there making sure that trying to get her to foul but she doesn't commit but good job of taking it to the rim.
Blevins shoots it to the corner.
Fire is good.
Abby Bohannon with a bucket at the baseline right before the quarter ends.
We have played three Guard league rebounds, 15 to 36 back for the final fourth quarter.
And I'm moment just take Georgia EMC road to the championships Gordon Lee leading 50 to 30 and here's how Gordon Lee got to the championship game beating Greenville 8155 Seminole County 7368 towns county 5749 and of course Randolph play tonight.
Now Randolph play.
Here's how the lady Red Devils got here today and Randolph play beat Portal 7428 Mitchell County 7255.
Wilkinson County 5734 And of course, Gordon Lee.
Let's go to Craven, Toronto.
Hey, guys.
Yeah, I was behind the Randolph bench and they were just talking about for the past three quarters, all they've been preaching to get to the basket, get to the basket, get to the basket.
I said, We can't stress it enough.
This is something you're going to have to do to try to come out on top and win the state championship.
I tell you what, Gordon, the finished the quarter on a 14 to 5 run.
Randolph played D.J had a good effort the first half of the third quarter they did they came out hot but Gordon Lee responded like a championship team Sure interception right there turnover Randolph play ball bounces around batted away once more and out of bounds off Randolph play possession Gordon League Here's Gordon Lee triggering it in there Just getting in the passing lanes of Randolph play right now they're not allowing him free access to anything they're getting in their face getting good pressure on him.
And when they try to pass it, they're in the passing lane.
Shot selection.
Good ball doesn't fall.
Here's Washington on the break Pull up jumper Nice shot no good Wow follows good Wow.
Cody Thornton, the freshman Nice move And like Reagan is talking about Grandma Clay.
To get to the free throw line, they have to get to the basket and get some fouls.
Called it word Lee.
If not, it's going to be up.
It may not end well for him, but Gordon Lee has not been to the free throw line yet.
This game ran out of Zach Randolph.
Clay has not made a three all night long.
They got a steal, though.
And here's Washington looking going to go down low.
Here's a three attempt no good off the front of the arc follow up Thornton No good follow up.
Thornton Good.
Got an important work on the board.
Gordon got a second win.
He's fooling right now.
She's got two big baskets coming out underneath.
Here's Blevins off the glass, you know.
Good.
Thornton The sophomore, pulls it down.
Tommy Here's that point.
They in the game in the third quarter, Jimmy Sustain is pushed off Blackman with a shot no good foul going to be called on battle of the batter Second team second are first first second 629 left in the game.
This is what Randall Clay has to do to have to be the aggressor right now with six and a half minutes to go in this game.
This is a state title on online right?
BLACKMAN To Washington.
BLACK on top of the key crosscourt to Washington Gordon Lee in that two three zone Washington no good far short ball's going to go over to Gordon Lee Washington 17 points in the game he can shoot it only him forcing Randolph play to shoot the ball.
They haven't shot it well pretty much but they're allowing them to shot big wall just not inside whistle on a foul Gordon Lee has played a lot of people Yeah they keep people fresh the way they run up and down this floor You got to play a lot of people but one person you see that does not come out this game Cassidy played, you see this man come out of the game.
This big reason why they're up right now.
Can you believe they came in as a sixth seed in the standings?
I don't know.
Randolph Play was 29 and two coming in, but as we said, as he adds and gets hot and heavy in front of us, Thornton with a loose ball, Thornton batted out of bounds.
Randolph Play ball.
You see us some fight out of both teams.
Right now.
Both teams are understanding what's on the mind right now.
Both teams are fighting for this ball every, loose ball.
They got to have it.
I tell you, six, eight in class, class-A region, six A is about as tough as it gets.
yeah.
They may have been the sixth seed, but let me tell you, they didn't play.
Like I say they did not.
There's anything with wrong being a sixth seed.
A lot of quality teams in that region.
Thornton to Washington good high shot to kneecaps here's Blevins triple teamed and shoved out of bounds is that pressure that pressure we talked about getting the game getting some creating the turnovers 542 left in the ballgame 13 points is nothing.
Folks like coach coach Guy, he wants to slow this down right now.
He's since his grandma played getting a little momentum.
He wants to slow this game down and talk to the young ladies until hey we are in control right now.
But hey we came out loud and back here.
Sometimes the pressure defense doesn't take effect until the last three or 4 minutes of the ballgame.
this is the pressure, pressure part of the game Now, this fall at season three of Football Friday is in Georgia.
Join us each Friday evening starting August 30, up with the all access pass pregame as we kick off the season at North Gwinnett High School for a double header for the National High School Gridiron Challenge from Ringgold of Alabaster from Savannah Lagrange.
We've got you covered this fall.
Well football Friday in Georgia army on the great GPB.
It's gonna be exciting.
Well football fans who love high school football now it's amazing athletes everywhere Gordon Lee 18 points in the paint Randolph play a driving Blackmon no good foul bartered That's what I heard I suppose prior stress stress to stress to our young ladies get to the rim, get to the basket shots up and good that was shot with some authority.
Blackmon Right after that time out and off players is slowly chopped with his lead only down by 12.
Now to make this in the 11, it is down to 11.
We've got a basketball game folks Here's Blevins across the timeline Randolph plays seven out of 14 Gordon elite has not been to the charity shot that they haven't mentioned to the free throw line yet.
Wow, goodness, goodness, goodness.
I'm 23.
When you're sitting over there, is that coach that's an eternity left in the game with an 11 point lead.
Blevins In the lead, back to Blevins, Top of the key batted away all alone, under up and Good by Caitlyn laid all the pressure.
Somebody got to get to go down and kick out the backside.
This really to make them myself came in the back door Blackmon Right side Washington Good And there she is that right side of the court Randolph play Washington has 21 now shots up to no good It's blocked picked up by Harlan Berger to Blevins to Tillie and the crowd around.
Randolph has gotten busy here in the last two or 3 minutes.
He's talked it up for 41.
You could feel it.
You could feel the momentum changed right now.
Can Blackmon cross the timeline?
Top of the key double team go down low up, back to the round and a fight for it.
right only has a positional Kobe Thornton down on the floor and the ball goes to Gordon Lay it back in the full court, press down.
Look at this action.
Who wants the game time?
We all want the game.
That's a nice bounce pass batted around lost and stolen by Randolph play batted away up and good hysterics off the bench.
Here comes Blevins Blevins right side shot No bad at around court for last Randolph play across the time line here come the lady devils batted away Gordon away the other way Bradley Yeah yeah Too many dribbles over there it's heating up but the center foot.
Here we go.
Fast break.
Take a look at it here.
The crossover.
that is nice right there.
She stuck with it and just lay it up on the bench and nice and easy.
There you go.
Blackman for Washington, Randolph Clay run 13 to 2 in this one.
Here's Blevins.
Thornton goes down, Blevins running stops.
She's good.
And Ireland's bills put it in her hands.
Run, man this girl can play.
man, she's really showed me something tonight.
Cassidy Blevins Off the glass.
Long downtown, no good.
Lee With a rebound.
Blevins Ahead to Barger back outside shot up and no good rebound Randolph play taken away by Lee put back up and in good faith in Rudy just just taking the ball away Just call him Debussy just take the ball from that's called a serious rebound floater.
That was a good one, LJ Rebound.
Let's take a look at Blevins.
This girl can shoot a basketball.
I mean, this is a clinic.
Look at coast to coast.
Hello.
Hello.
And now the five for the ball.
What's this?
Let me have it.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Come to see me sometime.
And she's excited.
Look at this.
Excited?
She like that?
Hey, she'll be talking about that for a couple of weeks.
Lee has eight points in ten boards, 56, 43 to 50.
And Pace left in this one.
D.J., I mean, would you call that a steal?
what I call that a rebound.
She just took it from her.
That's that.
That is a outside that is an outside backboard rebound.
yeah, it was.
I mean, Krystal Riggs had the ball in her hand and she just turns around and takes it from.
When all else fails though for Gordon Lee, they're going to get it to Cassidy Blevins, who may be one of the best pure shooters I've seen in a while.
Listen, when you're playing and this place that seats 9200 and you've probably got three or 4000 here on a on an afternoon look at Blevins just to get under pressure just once.
This whole thing of beauty that's just such I mean not you don't know how hard of a shot that is to not to be able to give it up with some touch and let him off the backboard without way too hot or too soft.
She understands the game you talk about her IQ or IQ is is is beyond his basketball now.
She is a very intelligent player.
Raven, what do you got for us?
Let me tell you, I was just listening to the huddle.
I almost put my hand in because it's so intense over there.
These girls want it.
Everybody's watching intently.
They're cheering for everything that's going on.
And the coach said, Let's just spread the floor and control everything in our power to 48 left 5043 batted away Washington driving jumper good.
I tell you, that's good.
That's what they need They need this pressure.
23 Ball Washington, Blevins, Blevins and Washington have put on a shooting clinic today.
Now they're going to clear out, spread the floor.
Levin's going to let them all got to go out of bounds.
I'll tell you.
Washington from Randolph play and Blevins from Gordon.
We're giving it everything right.
can they shoot the basketball?
Moving the ball, running the clock.
Lee Top of the key backdoor and no good Thornton with a block follow Thornton with a block two blocks at one possession That's that's awesome Matt a sister Briana Washington and Blackman bring it down ran off play not stopping in a hurry Shots up Washington.
Good.
That's all of Coby Thorn's blocks.
He's up to seven blocks right now in this game.
Unbelievable.
Nine point game with 151 Look at the blocks at the other end on Gordon Lee.
You think he got an open shot?
I don't think so.
He still doesn't give up on the play.
He gets another five.
That's just all that hustle and then gets the rebound.
And she's a freshman.
We can clarify that.
It helps her basket.
Here's her last basket.
Watch this.
Washington swish the move for two Gordon Lee led by 2050 to 30.
His lead has been cutting out it down to nine now nine two up almost 2 minutes to go.
I think it's pretty good time.
That's three threes if you're not keeping score.
5647 154 left Gordon Lee gets it The 11 double team screaming for help no blocking from Thornton Thornton going to pick up the foul boy they are getting after it out there Double team set a trap That's a good trap.
She just had to keep the focus and keep moving her feet.
She's going to have the baseline to beat her extra.
That's like being in the desert and the ball is thrown away.
That's what happens when press pressure.
Pressure.
And I know, you know the old adage, they say pressure must tide.
So we're going to see.
We're going to see we've got less than 2 minutes to go.
Nine point lead.
Randolph, play 20 out of 58, Gordon Lead 26 out of 64.
Both teams have had great runs of momentum in this basketball game.
Washington no good.
Blackmon No good.
Blackmon No good.
BLOCK by Lee well designed play to Will's on to play come out to get a three pointer and then you get the second chance points.
Now you're the free throw line getting your shots off with like you say, Tell me, what do you.
Kemba Pardon me.
All right Blackman goes to the line Shot's good.
You have to score when the clock has stopped 141 left Randolph play, bringing in more substitution.
Now she's playing an offensive defensive game right now.
Yeah Salina Lewis into the ballgame up and no good lead with a rebound lane to Blevins no.
Blevins All right.
Randolph Clay has outscored Gordon only 18 to 7 in the fourth.
And those like they did do that.
Yeah, they, they need a big time run in this fourth quarter to get it close 56 to 48.
This one's not over.
No way far from it.
Fasten your seatbelt, folks.
It could get good before this is over.
Here comes Blevins Blevins on the give and go up and no good rebound ran off play Lewis for the rebound Lady Devils in a hurry Blackman down on the corner looking back outside.
Blackman Top of the key left side looking darting no good off the mark batted away Blevins batted away Blackmon drives the lane fires no good.
Thornton fights for the rebound.
Blevins comes out of there with it ahead.
Blevins Driving passes back outside and they're going to circle the wagons now around the clock, less than a minute to go.
Blevins Going to start fouling now.
Gordon Lee is going to finally go to the foul line, finally for the first time with a 51 seconds to go in the game, 51 seconds the left 28, obviously 28 baskets.
Wow.
5648 they're not in the bonus.
They're not in the bonus.
Yeah.
Sorry.
I didn't mean to alarm you.
They'll get there fast if they keep doing this.
Blevins Turns out first and one more.
Get control on when they go to Washington.
Now they're in the one and one.
Now they're in the bonus.
Third foul on Washington.
I'll tell you what, a lot of people never really say this, but the officials have done a wonderful job with this basketball game.
Yeah, Yeah.
Really let them play.
And that's what you need to do in a state championship.
They call the fouls.
They needed to mix it up.
Yeah, Yeah.
It's been up and down.
And then finally ready, Kayleigh Kimbrough, first of one F second one.
Nice touch.
Just as smooth as glass.
Here's Blackmon from Washington.
On the inbounds pass top of the key Blackmon driving shooting good Blackmon soaring up back great quick basket right there 5848 All right coach D.J.
Shockley, look at the clock.
40 seconds.
Think you found your way into eternity here?
I think you have to.
I mean, if you can allow them to run around this, there's no shot clock stuff.
They can run around and run in 40 seconds out if they have a chance.
Eight to find the right person to foul.
Obviously, it's not Kasey Bledsoe.
He's not the one you want to foul.
Try to get them.
Maybe Caitlin Lee maybe, maybe.
You know, one of those key players who isn't the best free throw shooter to find a way in and kind of steal some possessions right here.
Blevins is eight for 24 on the floor, 18 and her baskets have just been things of beauty.
Yeah she is she is really taken off today.
She's she's shown different parts of her game.
That's that's going to translate well on the next level.
She's definitely a key player for this team.
Definitely.
And Blevins gets the ball double team here's Gordon League long down court pass up and good Thornton comes out of there with it WHISTLE and a foul foul is going to be on Barger Well I guess Gordon Lee could drew up any better, right?
We'll see that happen the last four on.
Barton Yeah.
Barton Mr. Easy easy lay up right there.
Singer and she probably wants that one back but key free throws right here.
Kobe has to hit these free throws.
This is a freshman, 30 seconds left in a game or you're down eight points.
Nothing to it.
5851 Thornton Again, this game doesn't look too big for you to be a freshman.
Now for him, missed the second lead with a rebound.
Blevins Going to go to the foul line the other way to shoot one.
If they tried to shoot a foul ten sooner, she got it for foul four foul.
And Blevins will go to the line and Lee he's coming out of the game.
She's had a good day.
She has it has been tough business in the end and under both goes that shot Blevins yeah.
Great job by Coach Lesser Yeah, and getting all this good free throw shooters in the game because they know they want a foul, they need a foul.
Got a few key players in at this time.
Blevins misses the second but that's the pair and has got to go back to the line wants to know why that's just a it looks like the last two way two days went to work for Randolph play the ball just hasn't bousted away where Gordon Gordon lays back let me tell you what's this girl's hand The way she shoots.
She's a shooter.
Watch this.
Get a good look at this beautiful shot.
Unfortunately didn't go in.
She's got that shooter's touch.
Who does?
As the Great Falls to Blackman to Washington.
Hello.
Wow.
Don't go anywhere to continue to fight.
And they are doing that.
You know, they're going to come out with some pressure, try to trap them, try to get something out of an easy basket.
You get two, you get three, whatever you want.
You got to find a way to get some baskets.
They keep this clock not running.
Yeah, 5059, 54.
Right.
Blevins gets the rebound and she's the only garden league player on that end of the floor.
How does that happen for right there?
And she finds a way to get the ball.
That's amazing.
That is amazing.
She is some kind of basketball player.
I tell you what, Washington and Blevins have put on a clinic on how to shoot the basketball today.
They really have to showed up today.
Listen, Randolph Clay needs to be extremely proud.
Gordon Clay needs to be extremely proud.
I have to tell you, this has been just an outstanding championship ball game 5954.
At the end of the third quarter, it was 20 points, right?
Gordon Lee was up by 20.
And that's why these two teams are here.
Bill Evans going to be fouled by Blackmon and we'll get a look at that Gordon lead defense where four will be in back court and one will be hit for 70.
That will not happen again.
They will not allow Cassie to get another rebound.
She's the only one this side of the court.
Blackmon's third foul.
let's watch Blevins with that shooter's touch.
Nice spin Good shot.
Just got that touch.
She shoots it the way you're supposed to shoot it.
And she has 24, and everybody's going to get to play for Gordon Lee Blevins at the line to love these routines.
Shooters do at the free throw.
Got to have got to have that excellent throw 31 now 21 points for Cassidy Blevins Blackmon drives the lane downtown no good gets the rebound follows good with 2.1 seconds left 13 points for Blackmon somebody is hurt right now I believe it's Brown It is it.
Blackmon Yeah, yeah, it's black.
It's black.
But she was fighting hard under that backboard.
She's had a good game out front to see.
She plays.
She's played pretty well too.
She really and she's engineered that offense.
I tell you, Randolph Play has really, really done a great job here in the fourth quarter.
I mean, they're loaded with plays.
They've got a lot of key players on this team.
They played pretty well today, take a lot of shots they wish they had back.
They had some shots.
Ball from first half la rough, but they came back and they fought through it and 2 seconds to go and these girls gave everything they had.
The two Thornton sisters will be back, the Washington sisters will not, but they got some players coming.
Looks like France.
That's what happened.
When you fight hard, you fight hard, your muscles tighten up all.
You got a lot of fluids.
You run up and down this floor the way that you feel.
You're lucky not to have to break.
You're right about that.
I like the fact that everybody's getting to play in a championship game, this is something you never forget.
I remember playing, you know, the state championship, playing in state basketball tournaments.
You know, you don't forget these moments right here, even though it looks like Randolph played, you know, it's maybe leading our lives were lost.
But this is something they won't ever forget.
They fought hard to be here.
It's a reason why they are in the championship game.
And we are getting a wonderful crowd.
It's only we are.
Yeah, it's going to be fun to see Blackman going to come out now in this situation.
She was fouled last night.
I thought she was under the basket, wasn't she?
Found who's going to shoot her free throw.
Well no she, she went up and she missed a shot and somebody else got the rebound and put it back up.
okay.
I thought Blackman did, but that's okay.
Thank you.
DJ 6156 Gordon The league and what has been an absolutely wonderful class a public school championship basketball pretty good pretty good way to start the day off.
yeah.
11 game over.
Gordon really wins the state class a championship.
Let's see.
Got to inbound it one more time.
It's not over with.
Throw it out of bounds.
Trick on us.
He had the clock on the throw rather than the catch.
So we're going to reset the clock at 2.1 and have a do over.
Blevins is going to get the ball appropriately and the game will end.
There.
All right.
6156, your final Gordon lay the winner.
Let's go to Raven Tirado.
That's awesome right there.
They really came out broadly.
They deserve this win.
They played hard.
They they really fought hard throughout this entire game right now.
Play should not be down at all.
They had a outstanding year.
Just fell a little bit short.
But my biggest thing, I like the way they followed the game.
They did not they did not give up.
They did not give in even down by 20.
Let's go now to Raven.
Hey, coach.
Going in that tournament, the sixth seed, did you expect to hang a banner and you're in your gym today?
Yes, we did, because we get a banner, whether it's a state championship or a runner up.
So I knew we were going to get something, but we were kind of greedy, hoping the state championship one that, you know, I felt like we had a good team.
We were a sixth seed, but that's because we didn't win our very tough region.
And we've been one or two all season long in the power rankings.
So we felt like we could we deserved to be in this game and we had a chance.
First ever state title.
What does it mean to you and the girls?
I don't really know what to say at this point.
I'm so happy for the girls.
They've worked so hard and they've sort of been we've averaged over 21 wins a year for the last 12 years.
And, you know, but we haven't ever made it here, so it's nice to finally get that recognition.
Congratulations on finally getting that banner in the gym.
I appreciate it.
Guys, back to you And DJ, thank you, Raven, for taking my line.
They finally have a banner at the gym.
Final score, 6156.
It has been a great class.
AA Public School Girls Championship.
We hope you've enjoyed it.
Tommy Palmer and D.J.
Shockley from Macon Center Blaze, All right, Welcome back to the NCAA basketball championships here in Macon.
We are now in the middle of the trophy presentation for Gordon Lee.
They just were able to clinch the public school girls single a championship.
It was a very hard fought battle.
You know, a lot of the game they were able to have pretty significant lead.
But then in those final minutes, the girls from Randolph Clay, they were able to really get a lot closer.
They made sure they fought until the end of this game.
And it looks like we are trying really hard to.
All right.
It looks like we maybe now have Mark Harmon.
Let's check in with him with the trophy presentation.
Mark.
All right.
We're here with Randolph Clay.
Congratulations was a hard fought game, Coach.
Your team really rallied back there at the end.
Yes, we did.
But we lost that game in the first half.
You know, we got to know to come out and play at the very beginning of the game.
I know you got some disappointed girls here, but really, you guys really showed well for Randolph Play high School.
Well, we did.
We try to try to get back here, but we didn't just come here to get this trophy.
We came to get the big trophy.
We just got to work hard and try to get back here next year.
Okay.
Well, congratulations, Coach, and we'll see you next year then.

On behalf of the on behalf of the Georgia School Association, I want to congratulate you, your staff and your players on a terrific game and a terrific season.
Congratulations on being the single-A public schools champion.
Thank you very much, Coach Guy.
And raise that trophy.
Hi.
I know you're very proud of their teams here today.
What does it mean for you and your team to win this trophy here today?
Coach, that's a dream come true.
These these five seniors and you have worked very hard and we we fall a little bit short several times.
But, you know, we're thrilled to be here.
We knew coming into it that we were going to have our hands full with Randolph Clay.
They're an excellent basketball team and, you know, but we had to knock down some outside shots.
We did that in the first half particular.
We hung on down the stretch there and got and got enough free throws to fall.
But, you know, these five right here are the ones that deserve the recognition.
It's not me.
It's it's these five right here that are seniors.
And it sort of started this for us.
Well, Kasey turned out here, the camera number five, a senior.
How does it feel to go out as a senior, a state champs for the Trojans?
It's amazing.
I mean, God has done amazing with our team and we're just so thankful for it.
We're so excited right now.
What does it mean to you and your teammates to win the first ever for Gordon Lee High School?
It's it's amazing.
That's all I can say.
We're praising God right now.
It's awesome.
Let's one more question here.
You've got the trophy.
Just talk about what's it been like all season long for you and your teammates, particularly the seniors.
We've just we knew we had a chance at the championship this year, so we just worked really hard all season.
And so we're just really excited to be here.
I tell you, they got Miles, a smile, smokes right here.
Raise that trophy.
Hi.
Big cheer for Gordon Lee, the single-A girls, public school state champions and 20.
