single-A girls, Buffalo Championship game as the 30 and old Turner year Turner County rebels are back in the state final for a second straight year, taking on the Terrell County green wave seeking their fourth ever state championship but their first since 2508.
And good afternoon.
I imagine we're joined by Kiesha Brown and Kiesha, two time Miss Georgia basketball Naismith National Player of the Year, Georgia Lady Bulldogs star played in the WNBA.
Quite the resume, my dear friend.
But I want to take you back to when you played for the State championship at Woodward Academy and tell me what these girls are going through right now.
They're going through every type of emotion you could possibly imagine, the anxiety, the nervous ness, the excitement, you know, and also some people just don't know what to do with themselves, that moment of time.
But the key is just to contain everything and put it all on the court and leave it all on the court.
Well, the scouting reports for both teams start with Turner County star Malaysia Yancey.
She averages 26 of the rebels, 62 points per game.
And obviously, she's got to score today for them to win.
Oh, absolutely.
A quite bashful type of person when I met her just a few moments ago.
But man, can she put up some numbers?
You know, one of the most amazing things about her is that towards the stretch, she is able to knock down no free throws was definitely can increase her scoring potential.
Terrell County's scouting report also starts with the laser.
Yancey as in how to try to stop her.
They're going to start with Tammy Harvey, their defensive stopper on her today but probably going to run a number of different players and well, I can't imagine when you're averaging 26 points a game for the whole season, you're not going to be stopped.
But the key is to just be able to contain her.
To my Harvey, she's she's given up a little bit of height at five four.
But what you hope to do with that is take advantage of your quickness and being underneath her and just get under and disrupt the flow of play for AT&T.
Well, we're just about set for the opening tip as Turner County and Terrell County get ready to start off this championship game.
Let's check in with Jacqui Brittain on the sideline tonight.
Yeah, you said it earlier.
Turner County comes into this match at sitting pretty a picture perfect 30.
You know, and you can bet that they have a little bit of a chip on their shoulder.
Coach Campbell told us this week that after not lose after losing the state championship title last year, that feeling really stung.
So they were playing with a chip on their shoulder, but they expect nothing short of the best from Terrell County, who have a lot of players who can put points up on the board in no time.
So nonetheless, those guys expect a lot of heart from both of those teams out there today.
Thank you, Jacki.
Do appreciate it.
Just about sat here as they're going through the introduction of the starting lineup.
Terrell County on a nine game winning streak since their last loss against Westover on January 23rd, won the region Championship 18 and defeated Mitchell County 6150 in the championship game and then playoff victories over Hancock Central, Calhoun County, and then in the Final four state semifinal over Greenville, you'll see the starting lineup for the rebels office, Burwell, Yancy Barnes and Whitehead, and for the Green Wave, Harvey McDaniel, Whitey Williams and McDaniel.
Turner County, 62 now coming out of Region two, single-A defeated Telfair County, 6438 in the Region Championship game.
The state finalist a year ago lost to Taylor County, 6754.
That's the same Taylor County team that beat Terrell County in the state semifinals a year ago.
As we take a look at the txt g keys to the game for Turner County.
Well, what they want to do right now for Turner County, they have to control the tempo and make it into a half court set, you know, and in doing that, their defense, once you finish off playing it could set successful defensive possession.
You want to finish out rebounding the ball.
And the last but not least, you want to close out onto rails county guards because a lot of them can score and they can score in bunches.
And the keys to the game for Terrell County.
Well, you just want to hope to contain malaise.
Yes.
First and foremost, if you can make our spot point here and there, you're doing a great job.
And absolutely you want to score as a team.
You've got four players in the starting lineup that can average well beyond eight points a game.
Jill Poole, Lionel Hill and Scott Adams are officiating crew for this single-A championship game.
And we are underway in Macon Terrell County in the light starts on offense and that's Tamaya Harvie bringing the ball across the floor.
You know I'm just speaking with a couple of the players as they were shooting around today.
You can just tell you get some people that were just nervous, didn't want to speak less about it.
But then you have a team like trying to counter it, just excited to be there and just ready to play ball in every single game.
Shot by Drew well is off the mark.
Whiting brings it across for Terrell County averaging 13.8 points per game.
The three point attempt by McDaniel was off the mark and lost out of bounds West to outside jumpers by Terrell County and coach pointing out that they are outside shooting team.
So you know if you're the defense I'm trying to count it you kind of want to sit in make them make some shots before you want to come out and that Tasha Kimble, the head coach of Turner County, not only the girls team, but also the boys team, her record this year is 53 and seven.
That's Golden State Warriors like that is.
And she's got two teams that go up against me.
She's learned so much from just being able to be a part of the boys program and establishing that program.
She's been able to take some of those assets over to the women's side and Harvey has fouled on the play, making her way to the basket.
And there's the head coach of Terrell County, head coach Tammy Jenkins, where 1987 Miss Georgia Basketball, starring for her alma mater and the 1988 National Freshman of the Year, playing for the University of Georgia.
And she was a three time all SCC and you're on the matter as well we all bleed red and BlackBerry BLEEP we take it through and through.
So I'm sure that what she has learned from Coach Landers when she was coach under him is that dedication and commitment.
She's going to push these girls to their limit today because technically this is their last game of the year.
So Harvey gets Terrell County on the board and a bounce pass inside is deflected and off of the hands of Turner County time here Harvey they're five four sophomore point guard averaging 6.7 points per game, four assists per game.
He gets the ball over on the left wing and into the corner goes.
The shot was blocked out of bounds.
You don't speak to me, Harvey Mac, if you're coach where are excited that you have a player that's a sophomore caliber and you have two more years experience for her at the point guard him.
You got to be excited about that the block out of bounds by Saraya office opening 100 seconds of this ball game the five point lead for the green wave as to Maya McDaniel knocks down the three she's a shooter and that's what she'd like to do.
So you're going to have to say to her just a little bit more than you would the other players for Terrell High and a traveling call on Turner County, that's off to an inauspicious start.
That's their third turnover here in the opening 2 minutes.
Jamye McDaniel averaging 13.6 points per game.
She had nothing but just eyes on the rim at that one shot and she nailed it three pointer on the way and fouled on the three point shot to Marius Whiting.
So she'll go to the line for three.
And Malaysia Yancey is called for the foul you know interesting Matt just just looking at the dynamics of Terrell High's offense, I don't think we've seen a jump shot inside the three point line.
And right now Whiting averaging 13.8 points per game.
She is their leading scorer.
Whiting, the five six senior guard also averages five rebounds and five assists per game.
You have to make those free throws count, especially when you get three of them.
Each single one of them is going to count in a game like this and all three free throw misses by two areas waiting for the ball is lost out of bounds by Turner.
And so Terrell County or Terrell County pardon me gets it on the baseline.
Whiting takes the three pointer off the mark offensive rebound and the back you know Ty McDaniel trying to counter is in a23 zone defense which is obviously leaving the green light for Terrell hard to shoot the three that they're doing in there but they're being very successful by doing that.
And that's the first shot by Malaysia.
Yancy who gets fouled on the shot and she'll go to the free throw line for two.
I don't think it's going to take long for Malaysia to get going.
She understands.
You can just look at them as a schoolboy right now.
She needs to get herself going in his team, going and get some fluidity in their offense.
Well, she knows how to get to the free throw line, as any great scorer would.
She was 158 for 211 at the free throw line, 75% for the season coming into the game.
And she has the first two points for Turner County this be great close out defense by three how do you take away paint Barnes with another rebound to turn off the miss by McDaniel three pointer ten off the iron by Whitehead McDaniel up the floor for Terrell County in the paint banks it in strong move by Brittney Williams the five to senior center who averages nearly a double double nine points and ten rebounds per game.
Yancy banks it in she starts to get going she scored their first four points as Turner County's back to within five and you can expect Terrell to try to change up the defense is on Malaysia has in particular but it's probably a defense that she hadn't seen all year that she can't attack with the three pointer Jamil McDaniel, Maya sister, knocks it in.
You get three sets of sisters on the floor today.
And to millions of Maya twins to Mya McDaniel hit as she shoots and she'll go to the line for two and just a great read for Maya.
She takes the ball she sees in transition you've got a lazy Yancey guarding you in transition so she's going to go at her.
You take out the number one scorer in this tournament.
Collectively, overall, you're sure to get a win out of it.
Jazmine McDaniel at Lynn, she already has five of their first 12 points, now at six of their first 30 and one.
And McDaniel has scored seven of their first 14 points, opening for four more 404 to play here in the first quarter with Terrell County on top 14 for life like video games is all about getting to the next level, mastering skills, gaining knowledge and setting goals are crucial to success in both coming out of high school and jumping into manufacturing.
Started here on the floor, hands on.
And I just worked really hard and tried to learn everything that I could and I advanced pretty quickly.
I think there's definitely a place for women in manufacturing.

Well, so far in this game, Keisha Terrell County has been the aggressor, trying to score in transition.
And when they've been able to run their halfcourt offense, they've done very well in setting up the three point shot.
And if you're Taylor County, you understand that you have four players that can score at will from your team.
So you want to take advantage of that.
You want to get Turner County in an up and down match because they probably don't have the legs that are going to be spent.
The 32 minutes play Yancey and run well Malaysia Yancey has scored all six of Turner County's points so far in this ballgame, averaging a team best 25.8 points per game.
Even better than that in their three playoff games, averaging 28 points and ten rebounds per game in the playoffs.
And she's doing it right now, but just taking it off the dribble, making the contact and finishing shots that seven point lead Terrell Doughty trying to count is now switched up to a matchup man and defense taking maybe a slow down some of their shooting off the hands of Harvey to get it back and that's going to be a back door violation.
You know and I think that was just a little bit of nerves coming through, just gets sucked into the game.
A lot is going on, trying to continue the run that's in the half for Tale County.
This is the unforced error.
The states the three offense with their first three pointer from on the ball game shooting 80% behind the arc this season but a big three right there to cut the Terrell County lead to four in the rebels on a six on one yeah yeah right guy seems like this man to man match up defense that trying to how he's playing is giving them a little bit of energy creating some bounce on the offensive end for them battle pass deflected stolen by verticality and then a foul on the backboard and Brittany Williams that's a great defense offense by Tony County you can see that turning into a good kick out just don't have herself on the ball and we get a three but the office she's great ball movement out of a scramble the foul on Brittney Williams is her second she stays on the floor for now 3 minutes to play opening quarter Terrell county leading Turner by four Yancey off the iron rebound Williams and now controlled by Whiting She brings it up for Harvey way off the mark and for Shana Barnes with her third rebound and a slip on the floor by Yancey and a turnover to Harvey and the layup by McDaniel Jamil McDaniel with the basket and she has five McDaniel sisters accounted for 12 of Terrell County 16 points.
You know coach we talked about Jamal McDaniel how well she runs the floor.
She does the blue collar type work that's always going to keep this team in it.
Just great transition, seeing her at the last minute, making it easy, get the assist, get the lay and a nice play by Harvey to let the defense commit to her, of course.
Oh, absolutely.
You can see her.
Got good eyes on that pass a great Eurostep, great man sliding great step move by to Maria's waiting to get Terrell down an eight point lead again Yancy beats the defense and puts it in Yancey now with nine down as well she has all the points except for the three by Saraya office and that's the intensity that you see from the score.
You see somebody that that can score off the dribble and score off the ball.
Look at Yancey go got the rebound goes coast to coast putback attempt by Barnes is off the mark and Yancey chases it down now that's Barnes another offensive rebound for Turner Got it And finally Terrell comes away with it McDaniel off the mark and out of bounds off Terrell County here.
McDowell You want to slow that down, Take the last possession that you have for the quarter and he's out of it now.
You can tell he kept trying to counter the opportunity to come down and maybe finish with the basket in the corner.
Turner County, one for their last five.
They have 12 seconds left in the quarter.
So, you know, any guesses to who's going to get the ball here?
Well, you know, honestly, there are a couple options right now with Roy off is off has been a lot more productive on on offense.
But I imagine they're going to do a double injury, maybe get it to office off the mark on the three.
And that will be the end of the quarter.
So we played one quarter in Macon Terrell County with an 18 to 12 lead on Turner County here in the Georgia High School Association single-A state championship game.

This isn't just any team.
This is your home team, okay?
It's not about a team or B team.
It's not about your boss telling you to be a team player or to take one for the team.
No home team is about pride.
It's about standing strong, pulling together and going crazy about a bad call, you know, was right, but because it was against your home team, it must be wrong.
Look, some people just don't get it because it's not their team.

Thanks to the start of the second quarter.
Terrell County with an 18 to 12 lead on Turner County here in the single-A State Championship Girls game, Turner started one for five, three for ten since Turner County shot 26% from the floor in that first quarter, Keesha and Terrell shot 43.
Well, it was just a lot about Turner County getting their feel of, you know, maybe where they going to get their shots.
It took a moment for Malaysia to get the ball and actually be effective in scoring the basketball to get the other teammates involved.
Yancey Off the mark right there she is.
Three for seven from the floor.
Tony Kelly does a good job of staying in the man and man slow down the offensive productivity of the Green Lane.
Tamia Harvey with a couple of assists to go along with 32 points and two steals in that first quarter.
He gets the rebound and missed the putback.
Barnes With her fourth rebound of the game office had her shot blocked ends up in the hands of Yancy who scored 11 point in the game.
You know one thing that I'm starting to see if I believe this is my first time watching her play the control, the body control that she has to be able to get into the paint, you know, work without the ball, move with the ball, pull up a short jumper.
That mid range game is a game that's been a lost art for a couple of years.
The women's basketball army puts it on the floor.
She hoop the offensive rebound and put back by Jamaal McDaniel.
McDaniel now with seven points she's going to be clean on that glass the whole game averages seven rebounds eight points per game six point lead for Terrell County here in the second quarter.
Offense takes another three and banks it in so Ryan on this with their second three pointer.
Well the banks are still open even though she was making quite a body so she had you know it's interesting you look at the whole the whole floor.
You've got a face guard on Jimmy McDaniel right now trying to count, doesn't want her to touch it.
So they take her out of the offensive.
You're making it as if other players are going to have to beat you in this title game.
That was the second basket variety.
On the other hand, you had these same type of defense happening for the lady that Nancy tries to go through two defenders and still puts it in.
Talk about suspension in the air, great defense, better offense time alcohol by Tammy Jenkins and the lazy Nancy has scored 13 of Turner County's 19 points in the first 10 minutes of this game.
Well, Malaysia Yancey has lived up to the building and she's doing it so many times way.
She's put it on the dribble.
Watch her right square on the double, going to the left and finishing is that body control.
And she seems to be having one of the greatest thing that you have is being they will continue to move without the ball and to score in different ways.
You can see the various reasons why she is averaging 26 points a game for the school's all time leading scorer broke the record at 2210 career points previously set by the late Renaldo Pierce in 2003.
We asked Tasha Campbell about Malaysia Yancey and said, I guess she's the big a big piece of the puzzle.
She said she is the piece to the puzzle.
And that's that's a huge compliment that you can have for a team like that, especially and I'll take this even further, Matt, that she's coached two teams throughout the year and you understand how valuable this one person is to your team.
You know, not so much from a sport perspective, trip on the floor and fouls can be called on Terrell County.
This one's going to go against Whitey in the first on her off the inbounds and the miss.
But a foul is going to be on the play and that's going to put Tanisha Whitehead at the line.
It's a great move from the inbound or the amount of defense out of position.
Get a quick pass on the inside Tanisha Whitehead 56% free throw.
She averaging 2.2 points per game.
And Turner County has really done a good job of taking care of business at the foul line in the postseason.
Just a 56% free throw shooting team overall in their three state playoff games, shooting 72% at the line.
And they've done a great job.
I think the defense 47 for 65 before this game in the postseason.
You know, and that's big because when you get two close games and fourth quarters, how are you going to close this game out?
Is winning it on the free throw line?
And they've done a good job of doing that.
Turner County has battled back to cut the Terrell County 8 to 1.
This is that defense that could spend more time about the suffocating in their face halfcourt defense waiting to walk off the drive and the ball face down in the corner.
By time County's out, he hits the tire off.
This will bring it up the floor.
Her shot was blocked.
McDaniel coast to coast fouled as she was delivering the pass to Brittney Williams.
Balanced and she lined up Well, the way you're trying to count it, you wanted to weather this storm.
You see, Melissa, she had that three falls in substitution.
She's back in the game right now.
Just want to rest.
Just hold down the fort.
She gets back in and it's going to happen.
So we have a time out on the floor for 15 left in the first half.
Carroll County, after jumping out to a seven nothing lead is watch.

Cotton The natural choice for Georgia Terrell County one point lead on Turner County here in the girl single-A public championship game this Sunday night.
Join GPB as we bid farewell to our friends in Downton Abbey after six wonderful seasons for this special live event surrounding the series finale.
It all starts Sunday night on GPB Matt Stewart, along with Keesha Brown, the girls single-A public championship.
Major Yancey has lived up to the billing 13 Turner counties, 21 points, and she has helped the 30 year old battle back, cut it to one with four first quarter turnovers.
And now it's been much better for you.
Jackie Stone is down now, not his game.
She's the nerves have worn off and this playing basketball is inside and the lead from Turner County, their first lead in the game TNT scores a 50 point Nancy dancing and a turnover for Terrell County and just you know, I'm such a defensive minded person, Matt.
But when you saw how Tourney county started in that zone and made them kind of lackadaisical, less aggressive and as soon as Coach Campbell squeezed into the game and they needed to keep it to give them more energy on offense tonight, you see we got more players in fly off the bench by opposing plays against towns for low local Saraya offense with the run.
She has a it's an eight over run for Turner County inside they go and they missed the body offensive rebound third crack at the basket three attempts at point point blank range for Terrell County and they come up empty.
And right now my office is doing the right thing.
You're pushing the ball on offense.
You just had three attempts of the green wave on offense to be able to score.
They're going down with their hands down on defense and that brought it.
I hope she's passing it off.
Tax rate is an offense and one prior to that basket green wave at miss five of their previous six shots.
But now to Mya McDaniel goes to the line for a chance to complete a three point play.
She definitely stopped the defensive scoring run that Turner County was having right now.
Jasmine McDaniel, she started the game off seven zero by herself.
And so she she has to get back on that scoring place.
McDaniel reaches double figures.
She has ten of Terrell County's 25 game time.
The energy's picked up in the Coliseum as well.
Ball deflected away into the hands of off this offensive rebound off this gets it back and McDaniel gets the ball to Terrell County and has to use a timeout as she's tied up on the baseline.
Tammi Jenkins where in her 16th season back at her alma mater is the head coach after starring at the University of Georgia, playing on the Final Four team in 1993, went overseas and played nine years.
A professional basketball all over the globe Japan, Taiwan, Italy, Greece and Israel.
You guys get to show your passport stories.
Canton Oh, we definitely could stack those passports up, too.
But, you know, it's so much that you learn as a player being overseas, so many of the intangibles that American we may not possess, but we definitely go over there and we learn.
And likewise, when your parents come over to America, you know, so I'm sure that that the things that she's learned as a player, the things that she's learned from Coach Landers under his tutelage, it's all coming to fruition right now on the court for these girls.
We asked her what she remember most about head coach Andy Landers, and she said when Coach Landers would say, get on the baseline because she knew what that meant and she said she says it to her team all the time when she's ready for them to run it.
She says she still has flashbacks every time.
She says, You know Matt and someone like that, like Sam, and they say Yancey misses the layup.
And back the other way comes Harvey and Terrell County.
McDaniel, a three pointer way off the bar rebound and one Sam Marius Whiting with the putback and she'll go to the line for a chance at the three point play being at the right place at the right time, the strength, the grit and the power just to be able to get that shot off a rebound.
You got somebody climbing your back right here and she finished strong.
Whiting Now with six points 156 senior guard the older of the Whiting sisters on this roster for Terrell County.
I think that's one of the fun things about it.
I don't know about you when you were coming along playing at Woodward Academy, but one of the fun things about high school basketball is it's really that last opportunity.
Although Georgia had the Miller twins, of course, who played together, it's really that last opportunity.
And where sisters get to play with each other on the same team, obviously, and especially if you know that probably that opportunity is slim when you move to that next level.
But, you know, for for the sister, for the sister, that senior playing with the younger sibling, you want to be able to give it all you got just for her.
So Yancey got fouled on the shot and Malaysia Yancey they go to the foul line or did they not call him shooting foul?
Apparently they're going to call foul on the floor and not on the shot.
141 to play in the half Terrell County leading by three, Whiting is called for the foul, the second three point shot on its way by Orpheus Yancey.
The offensive rebound and put back attempt and she got back You know these two teams are just they're doing a great job of sticking with the extra possessions getting on the board for offensive rebounds.
You have to had that at the end of the first quarter.
The field goal possessions were about not add up.
So those expeditions are going to be key down the stretch.
That's for Shana Barnes at the line.
Not Yancey as Williams picked up her third personal foul.
And that's going to be tough but you're missing your double double.
You have to savor this last minute and 36 seconds of the half and hope to come out in third quarter.
She also be effective with the canvas.
Jordan checks in for her and Harvey loses the ball out of bounds.
Fifth turnover for the green wave and just that little bit of pressure that Tarrant County has given.
It's allowing longer and three passes that Toronto having to make.
You can see they made the offensive and defensive substitutions here late in the quarter taking Yancy out on the defensive possession bringing her back in for the offense possession.
Well you know and that's that and that's that wrestling coach Kimmel was talking about you have to give her that rest because she has to be able to produce on the offensive end.
She has scored 15 of their 26 points.
Barnes way off the mark on her shot, but steals it back and gets fouled again in for Shana Barnes is going to go back to the foul line.
So for Shana Barnes who just missed two free throws, goes back to the line here.
She just did a good job of sticking with it, getting the steer early in the transition for Terrell County.
Now she's at the free throw line again.
Jordan was called for the foul and Barnes, who shoots just 36% at the foul line, hits the free throw, two cobia whiting checks into the ball game and out goes McDaniel It's Barnes perfect on both.
We're tied at 28.
That's our second tie of the day.
Just green set for two.
Mary is waiting by Jordan and Jordan crashes into Tanisha Gilbert as she gets the rebound.
And Jordan has picked up two quick fouls.
That's just a tough that's a tough call to make because you got two bodies that are going hard to two rebounding position.
And she just gets the bat in a state.
So both teams now in the bonus as Kenny Gilbert he's just three for 13 at the foul line this season rims out on the front end of the one and one less than a minute to play here in the first half game tied at 28 Whiting whistle along the baseline Gill Poole and Michael Hill to discuss it And I'm going to say she stepped out of bounds You see Tammy Jenkins asking the officials what was the call and it took him a while.
I don't know why they had to confer as to whether she stepped on the baseline.
Well, I think it was one of those situations where the official and this I just had a better look at it an I was out on the baseline did they had to figure out whether she stepped out before she was fouled or was that the case as well?
Probably.
I would imagine so.
Breakthrough officiating because it looked like there was a foul called on them.
Foul play, as Ariel Hamilton puts it in.
Turner County back up by two final 15 seconds waiting big step through is going to be called the Cleveland turnover number seven for the Green Lane.
Turn to county right now.
As you can see just from the crowd here in the arena, you are ecstatic about how you're finishing off this first half and you're finishing it off not so much on the offensive end, but the defensive intensity that you establish for this game.
We'll see if he takes it all the way here.
She does the miss and a foul is going to be called, I believe, on Turner down here.
Just a turnover.
No foul out of bounds play looked like Hamilton had crashed into McDaniel with no whistle for a foul And so Turner County one last blank here with just over 4 seconds left in the quarter off the inbounds to Miss Yancey still time on the clock and puts it in as the half comes to a close great elevation on the side to be relentless on the board you get a great out of bounds play.
You missed a shot right there.
Recover and pick it up for an easy two two in the quarter.
Turner County finishes the first app on a 15 to 6 run and takes a four point lead to the locker room as the laser Yancey scores 17 of the rebels 32 points.
As we check in with Jacquie Britt Thanks guys and coach you spoke this week about your team's ability to dig themselves out of the hole.
What's your perception of how the first half has gone so far during the first quarter, we allowed them to get too many shots out, so I had to make some adjustments to my defense, which is working right now.
We're just trying to limit the number of shots they're getting off.
What's going to be our message to the team as you go into the half, hear the same message I've been telling the entire year.
Keep fighting.
You got to keep fighting for six more minutes.
All right.
Good luck in the second half, coach.
Thank you.
Appreciate it, guys.
There you go.
And earlier I was he was certainly fired up about about her team not rebounding.
So some good battles going on here between the two.

Well, it's good to be back here in Macon.
It's been a year and we've had a lot of great games last year and I'm looking forward to a lot of great games this year.
But a long time for me.
A few years actually.
Yeah.
This has turned out to be a great game.
I mean, Terrell County certainly taking control early on, but as we know, Turner County has gotten themselves out of some holes plenty of times before, and they certainly showed to do that by halftime.
Yeah.
Melissa Yancey has 17 points already.
She is one of the standouts that we'll see all weekend long.
Yeah, and Coach said this week on the phone about her.
She's just a great kid.
On and off, on and off the court.
I mean that she just loves and she would really love for their team to win it for her because she deserves it.
All right.
They've never won a championship in Turner County, so that would be their first.
And of course, Terrell County going for their fourth.
I know.
And I've got to get back out on the sidelines.
We got a lot to get used to be.
A lot of running around, that's for sure.
You've got to go interview a coach coming up.
Well, we're getting ready for the second half of the first game of championship weekend's here, Terrell County taking on Turner County.
And then you want to make sure that you don't go anywhere because Kisha Brown and Matt Stewart are going to be calling the game and they've got a lot in store.

Regions is proud to be a partner with GPB and building a better Georgia on the back in the Macon Coliseum, the girls single-A public championship game as Turner County leads Terrell County 3228 Malaysia Yancy has been everything is advertised and she's scored 17 of their 32 points in the first two quarters.
But it wasn't just all Malaysia.
Yancy for Turner County.
No it wasn't it was a help of Soraya office.
She did a great job of piggyback in the Batman and Robin, if you will, of making sure that you have that extra scoring effort going on for Turner County.
What happened with Terrell County, they jumped out to a70 lead in this ballgame, had a pretty good first quarter.
Things fell apart for them in that second quarter.
Well, and it was the adjustment of the defense for turn to county.
They got out of the zone that they were matched up in and went into that man to man.
And Coach Campbell, obviously, she started subbing the offense for defense and improved to be effective for them.
Well, let's take a look at our Georgia EMC road to the championship and how these teams got here.
Turner County at 30 and oh, a sweet 16 winner over Georgia military college in the Elite Eight, knocked off Telfair County for the fourth time this season.
And then in the state semifinals, Final Four defeated Wheeler County 5744 to set up today's matchup and for Terrell County 4540 Sweet 16 victory over Hancock Central.
Then they had to beat Calhoun County for a third time this season in the Elite eight and in the state semifinals, a 6358 win in the Final Four.
And just how difficult is it to beat a team for a third time, as Terrell County had to do with Calhoun County and for a fourth time as Turner County had to do with Telfair County?
I mean, it's tough because you play them the first time you figure out the nuances of each player, the coaches team concept, second time you play.
If you think you have it down, pack.
But now you come in the familiar area to you the third time when you're playing a team.
At this point, you just don't want to see them in your face anymore.
So that that matchup, that, that tenacity and the intensity, it definitely picks up a level.
All right.
Let's check in with Jacqui Britton.
She's standing by with Terrell County coach Tami Jenkins, where.
Thanks, guys.
Coach, earlier in the first half, you're really emphasizing the point of rebounding and boxing out your thoughts just on how the first half went, first half went.
You know, I felt like really?
Well, we were able to kind of limited them to one shot and the first half went really way off.
The second half, we kind of got lackadaisical.
I don't know if we got not as focused and we lost momentum.
This kind of started not rebound as well.
So, you know, that was the main thing.
That was stress at halftime.
You guys stayed pretty calm, though.
What was it like in the locker room at the half?
Just remained staying calm and just, you know, realizing what we were.
It was a big difference day and night between first quarter and second quarter.
And, you know, it was obvious I ask my question first half compared the second half.
You know, everybody agreed the first half was much better than the second half.
So we need if we can come out and play two, of course, that we did the first half, we should have a pretty good chance.
Thanks, Coach.
Good luck, guys.
I'll send it back to you.
All right, Jackie, let's take a look at our Farm Bureau Insurance halftime stats.
And you see both teams shooting 34% from the floor.
I think the big key was it was really two different quarters.
Terrell County outscored Turner 18 to 12.
In the first, Turner outscored Terrell 20 to 10 in the second half.
And it was a good job.
You know when you look at the stat seizes individuals it's almost like the McDaniel sisters versus Yancey.
You know what that group has 17 points and Yancey alone had 15.
So here we go, start of the third quarter.
Turner County lost to Taylor County in the state championship game last season, 6754 Terrell County trying for their fourth state title ever, but they haven't won one since 2005.
And Terrell County starts on offense down by four.
You see ice up for a play every turn a county that they have right now on number 23 it's Mary's waiting force in high school ball You can play with great patience in time Mitchell Harvey just dribble the ball right off her foot.
That is the ninth turnover for the green wave and the third committed by Harvey.
Soraya office brings the ball up the floor for Turner County.
They committed only four turnovers in the first half.
It was a difference cause Terrell County, they committed six in the second.
In the second period alone, Yancey drops it off and her pass goes out of bounds.
So both these teams start the third quarter with a turnover.
Well, it's almost like the start of the first period.
You're just trying to get your nerves off.
You come back from halftime, you understand your adjustments that the coaches have have made for you to do and you both end up with turnovers at the beginning of your possession.
That was the first turnover for Turner County since the first quarter after playing a flawless second runner by McDaniel.
Got her miss, got her second Miss and put it in.
Well, she's just had to start at this point, but just a great effort by McDaniel to stay with it.
Well for two Mya McDaniel Yancy with the Miss right there Yancy six for 13 shooting from the floor during the season.
She's been a 61% shooter from the year shot from the elbow and the rebound by Barnes Barnes with her sixth rebound of the game and five of them have been on the defensive end.
Soraya offers nobody picked her up.
You know the interesting is but this is like the second or third time that's happened.
It's just been a total defensive breakdown on the ball is real and she's taking advantage of the opportunity and scoring an easy two.
Soraya office joins from Malaysia Yancy in double figures office now has ten so 25 of the 34 points have come from those two Ms. by Whiting she chases down it on this which is why you can effectively well hope to see she had she has someone face to face with.
Are they there in a triangle defense right now?
Tarrant County is just a slow down.
The guns are in fact the people for Terrell Kelly Terrell High McDaniel the miss and Yancy brings it up the floor for Turner County again nobody got and she missed the layup though someone's got to step in front of her, don't they?
I think she may have been surprised.
Contact shot by Whiting in the miss and Yancy the offensive rebound her defensive rebound and she brings it up the floor again this time trying to pass the ball got fouled on the play by Harvey You know and I will say just for the people that are watching this on TV, it has been it is a joy to watch Malaysia to play the athleticism that she displayed.
She's just on defense, on rebounding and her be able to get the ball and rim run to get easy baskets for herself or create for her teammates.
The foul on Harvey was her second inbound Soraya offensive fails another three off this now three for four on her three pointers in this game is Turner Gowdy has opened up their largest lead She is totally comfortable right now in the offense She's there visiting three point shooter for Tarrant County.
You can't leave it open.
Meantime, Terrell County has lost five of their six shots in the quarter shot on, but Whiting was able to get it back in a foot back attempt is fouled on Whitehead with the block but Jacoby Cobia Whiting stayed with it and gunned down and she'll go to the line penetration just better defense being at the right place at the right time and the foul was called on Yancy that is her third to cobia.
Whiting misses the free throw badly V Terrell County.
You have to understand that easy has three fouls.
You want to do everything that you can do to make sure that she's involved in some type of defense to get her hands out double.
And we have a lane violation.
On Whiting, who jumped across the line before her shot got to the rim.
She was anticipating from this you wouldn't to see her on the glass.
I guess that's not an uncommon thing for this game with her 22 eight run for Turner County.
As they trailed by seven, they now lead by seven open for a three.
She just skies on the rebound.
Zakiya offense misses another three.
The offense sisters have taken eight all eight of their three point shots actually.
Whitehead took one so eight of the 93. attempts have come from the office sisters.
Whitehead is called for the foul and that is number one On her time out on the floor before 29 to play in the third quarter and Turner County seeking the state championship leaves Terrell County by seventh, providing safe, affordable and reliable electricity requires more than bucket trucks and utility poles.
These are the faces behind your power.
For more than 75 years, Georgia's nonprofit eight member owned electric cooperatives have been on a mission to brighten the lives of more than four and a half million Georgians.

Turner County up seven on Carroll County about halfway through the third quarter.

Matt Stewart, along with Keesha Brown.
As we've traveled to Macon, Georgia, to watch the Georgia High School Association State Championships, coach Tasha Kimball's team of seven Terrell County won four seven shooting in the corner.
Turner two for six.
Turner actually had a ten point lead in this game.
Terrell actually had a ten point lead in this game and Turner come back to make it seven turns on that triangle two defense right there in off the hands of Florida.
But apparently Turner got a hand in there deflected it so the green wave will have on the inbounds play hey you know set up to a sister three point attempt on its way offensive rebound and look back attempt and Jamiel McDaniel was fouled on the plains he'll go to the line and that foul was on Dante for 41 yard dash so Yancy picks up her second foul Jamal McDaniel at the line.
You know was interesting that is with Turner going into this triangle defense that they're in there forcing Terrell County to make uncharacteristic people make decisions for them and it's resulting positively with them being on the offensive boards and getting a chance at the basket that four free throws trying.
To get a clarification on that.
I thought it was the third foul on Nancy Johnson Score stayed with the double check that the scores take its toll on his second look at that So Turner got a ball Turner accounted for Turner County ball but it is three fouls so three fouls now when you look that that timeout called by Tasha Campbell and Tasha Campbell this season as the head coach of the Turner Academy one 4727 seasons 124 and 20.
And this year she took on the responsibility of also coaching the boys team.
And they were 23 and seven.
I mean and that's a that's a challenge within itself because you think about her daily job and now you're spending more hours of your day coaching two different teams and being very successful with the Ball Boys and Girls program.
And she's definitely learned a lot about herself, learned a lot about a coach, and learned a lot just about how to lead these different kids in a different direction that they're going.
1997 graduate of Turner County herself, she scored over 1000 career points playing for the rebels and then was an assistant coach under Sherri Harris.
And Sheri Harris is now the head coach at America Sumter.
And they'll be on the floor here 3 hours from now playing for the for a state championship against veterans.
Know and that's a good thing because the fruit didn't fall far from the tree.
So you could tell that the same thing that they've learned from each other, they've been able to use it and be successful on the court right now competing for a state championship.
You know, she's so intense and you can you could just see her on the sidelines who's just intense with her girls.
And she just designed this out for Turner six over eight traveling called on the rebels turnover committed by Zakiya office number 22.
Meantime, Terrell in a terrible shooting slump, they missed 14 of their last 16 field goal attempts and they're one for eight in the quarter.
Mean it's a struggle right now.
You have to find some type of offense someone that's going to get you going.
You got to people that are being guarded in a man type of way and they're moving from offensive rebounds.
Terrell County scored 18 points in the first 8 minutes, but they've scored only 12 points in the last 12 minutes.
And the shot nail Mike Terrell County as they break out of their travel basket by waiting and attacking second time to the save for Israel orphans right now she's got a little smile on her face.
That is the fourth three pointer for the real office who has 16 goals Tracey calls it.
Well, hopefully she's okay.
That ball team right now in Capital One and Soraya office will lift to the bench since she turns her ankle to.
Yeah.
Just got quickly to one corner Yeah just tripped up and then she the stomach rolled on top of the ball Some noise notable the air out of her.
You have a great there looking at her left leg and I think the rubbing her calf muscle down so maybe she had a cramp on top of that.
I'm not sure.
And they don't want to lose the real office.
She has been a big time offensive threat for them today, complimenting Malaysia anti Whitehead had the ball lost it out of bounds tough possession you hope that the offense is going to be able to get back into the game and it's a scoring punch they're trying to counter.
She has scored eight points in the quarter now has a team high 62 Kobe a wide he missed the layup putback attempt missed by McDaniel and a whistle underneath and I'll be curious to just understand or know how many awesome offensive rebounds have been collected in this third period and Malaysia Yancey has called for the foul That's going to be number four on her.
As you take a look at Soraya real office and her fourth three pointers today and also driving to the basket, she just done a good job of taking what the defense gives her, knocking down open jump shots and penetrating, getting to the basket.
You know, Kobe awaiting at the foul line.
Nancy, Nancy going out with her fourth foul and most of her fouls has got to have come from being on the defensive boards trying to stop two county from being so aggressive on offense of the opposite.
Excuse me, Soraya.
Office looks like she's still limping as she makes her way to a position in the lane two free throw misses by Whiting and lost out of bounds off the hands of Turner County.
And he's right.
This is your last game of the season.
It's time to tough it out and put it all on the court.
Coach Tasha Campbell said that state championship lost to Taylor County last year.
Really a toll on the team.
Three areas, Dwight and rebound Carroll County doing a really good job class but they didn't score for me.
Yeah I mean it is and it's tough because you're in there you're battling you're battling.
The referees are just doing a good job of not calling me because all ten girls are going straight up for the basketball.
Carroll County, two for 14 shooting in the third quarter.
They scored only four points in the quarter.
The office, meantime, scored eight by herself, missed a shot.
Her 10th point right there, She slowed getting back down the floor and see if Terrell County can capitalize on this layup attempt.
Missed save Harvey in the paint Miss in a traveling ball.
Similarly Daniels looked like she had the rebound and got knocked down and they call scrambling you know and this this comes from at the basis of basketball when you get a game like this where you scrappy downtown is trying to find baskets and work and doing they're doing it on the offensive end, but just not having you get all the work done.
You just not it in I don't think she had possession the ball right there.
Nonetheless call travel that's a tough traveling call one Camille McDaniels will go to the bench here with 121 to play in the third quarter ten turnovers now for the green wave, 18 points in the first quarter.
They've scored 14 points in the last two quarters combined.
Soraya office being shadowed by Harvey office gets a flag passes underneath, layup attempt is missed and knocked out of bounds and last but by the way I feel like the basketball guys have put a lid on both of us right now and just going to see how athletic these girls are going to be.
The rest of this last minute, a third period, so many point blank shots have been missed.
You Whitey dribble from the left hand off this offensive foul wave off the basket, fly to marry his wife, her third foul.
You know, right now, Matt, you can just put tension in this gym and a lot of it is from the audience you kids on the big stage lights are on.
So they're in a situation that they just haven't felt before or you don't return to Kelly.
They were here last year and they missed that opportunity.
Now it's more on their shoulders right now.
How are they going to be able to graduate from this period and win the championship?
And a foul is going to be called on.
Carroll County.
Should Kobe awaiting his call for the foul and that'll be the first on her inbounds for Turner.
33 seconds left in the quarter underneath Whitehead missed the body.
Brittany Williams clears the rebound.
Harvey brings it up dish underneath we'll have another offensive foul second consecutive basket that gets it raised by an offensive foul.
The opportunity to score easy opportunity.
You've got people around does that pass has one dribble last you got it easy pass for an assist and a bucket The foul on Harvey is her third and Terrell has gone more than three and a half minutes without scoring.
They have fallen behind by eight last possession here for Turner in the quarter.
You know I'm Turner you have to be happy you get out of this quarter and you're up eight because as many opportunities have as the green wave has had they've not been able to cash in on this run second beats the horn and that's the end of the third quarter.
And if is playing 24 minutes in Macon with eight to go with Brown the single-A girls and Turner County with a 40 to 32 lead on Terrell County as we head to the fourth it make it this program on Gp-B is made possible in part by supporters of the Georgia High School Association, including the following.

Matt Stewart along with Keesha Brown and also Jackie Britton.
Sideline.
Let's check in with Jack.
Thanks guys.
Just a minute ago I was in the huddle with her county and coach Campbell.
And I tell you what, by watching Coach Campbell, you would not think that Turner County has the lead right now.
She's so fired up, so passionate, telling her girls, you guys are just standing underneath the basket.
I want you rebounding.
I want you boxing out happy but not happy, as you can tell.
And she's talked about how this season they've just been able to pull themselves out of holes any chance they get.
It looks like you see a little bit of that happening so far today.
Well, Jackie, you can understand why Coach Campbell is upset.
Terrell County is outrebounded Turner 4428 this game, Terrell County has 22 offensive rebounds in this game.
Had they been able to hit their shots if they were shooting better than less than 25%, they might have a lead in this game.
I mean, absolutely.
He got 44 total rebounds in a game to account and you can't come up with some type of point for nothing.
I mean, that's a tough to swallow.
Terrell down.
He shot two for one in the third quarter.
They scored only 14 points over the last three quarters, combined that for 18 in the first.
And that's why you're down eight.
You know, that whole third period, you have a combined total of 12 points scored even more.
So you got more rebounds which are counted single.
He believed in talking points then a lot of missing pieces, a lot of misses, a lot of energy that that has been you know, you want to say that has been used accordingly.
But it has come up a lot of effort, which is not just off the foul White on Howard.
He puts it in easily.
He's a ten point lead for Turner County and that's going to play that's working efficiently all night returning downhill on the baseline Hill County Now it's in trouble and the Lincoln Star hit some baskets and there for marksmanship continues to miss right there by Brittney Williams.
She's definitely doing her job by being on the boards.
Think we have to be more efficient.
If you're the green wave of just producing fouls called on to Kobe a lady and she's got to now see the press right now to apparently just create some type of discomfort for Turner.
She's got a great job.
And if you win a little half court and rebound, foul is going to be called on Turner County, I believe, after the rebound was grabbed by Camille McDaniel, the 13th born of the game for Camille McDaniel and Whitehead was called for the foul.
That's her second three point attempt off the Mark McDaniel to fire McDaniel got the rebound which was out of bounds if you want to look at is going to count.
And you got to listen to my dad.
She'd have to get on this line and create some type of offensive She's there leading scorer with 12 points, but she's also just 413 from the floor and one of five on her three.
And a lot of she's been off the ball.
They've put a triangle to on her face guarded her and she hasn't been really effective or efficient in trying to go get the ball to establish herself.
On the offensive end.
Timeout was called by Turner County this spring.

We are down to our final 630 here in Macon, Georgia.
Turner County.
Once trailed by ten, they now lead by ten.
And Stewart, along with Keisha Brown, two time Miss Georgia basketball Naismith National Player of the Year, playing the state state championship game.
What twice Twice when we're together?
Yeah, first half.
I definitely was a bit nervous and we had we had to put our faith in our senior shooting guard who actually hit a buzzer beater to allow us to get to the championship game.
Our first year supply office kick foul by Whitey Jacoby awaiting his call for the foul.
That's number three on her way.
And that is the sixth team foul on Terrell County.
And the next one's going to put Turner in the bonus for the rest of the game, which is a good thing for Turner.
It may maybe a good thing for the overall toss up of the game because it slows down the game, allows the girls to take a breath, understand what's going on and the effectiveness of having an open back.
Don't get up and get the ball have been touched by that pass.
The diamond handle can't run a damaging crashing into the fence and hopefully she's okay and she went hard into the middle railing Now looks like she's going to be okay Taylor County giving them a little bit of a turnaround.
His own medicine just freshman half court trying to create some steals and she's just going hard for the ball.
Her hair falls hard on the on the road.
But that's the type of effort that she has to give in the state championship game, fortunately for her, did not reach the middle, really took the hard tumble.
McDaniel going to come out of the ballgame, at least for the moment as her sister Jamal, checks in for Jeremiah Jamal, £19, But he's going to get the lady.
He's been on the bench a lot of times for fouls.
At what point do you get her back in the ballgame with 534?
Right now, you're weathering the storm bit when you start that third period.
So, you know, as long as they can hold this ten point lead the next foul, which is right now you're in the bonus here on out now into the playoffs.
Let's just make free throws.
It's not a game now, but it's make she's got to get back in the game.
It's just a matter of how long they need to come to work.
This is the only way for her to get in the game.
Let's finish.
Soraya office now has 17 points.
That's the first free throw attempt for Turner County since the second quarter.
And they're going to have a hard time being Turner County.
They are nine for 12.
Great defense.
Help keep it by pennies right here office Gold Coast to coast missed the layup and McDaniel the rebound eight more in the game for two Miami in scoop and in and and going to the line for a chance at the three point play as Jeremiah McDaniel makes that play happen baseline the baseline by herself there was no doubt that she was going to the basket as soon as she crossed halfcourt she gets starts and then right hand protects the ball and she finishes for the right time out on the floor.
A 11 point lead for Turner County, actually nine since Carroll County.
They could count that basket by Jermaine McDaniel to make it 4334.
And McDaniel is going to be at the line for a chance to make an eight point game.
You know, I would say if I was in that hotel right now for Terrell County, you want to make this basket set up like that for you got so far successful with them, even create a turnover or they're going to have a shot you can about that about Terrell County.
You know they have nearly 7 minutes right in back 358 of the third until that basket right there by Daniels.
And even with that kind of a scoring drought, if McDaniel can get the free throw, you're just going to be an eight point game.
Is it going games five, ten left to play?
Plenty of time to have a take, you know, chain of events to occur.
But the thing is, you know, it's not so much just to contain their defense, it's just them being able to score on offense.
Jamal McDaniel 14 points, eight rebounds and now four for four.
The free throw line makes it an 8.84 pressure here, like you count see the pressure you got different people having a ball right now timeout called by Tasha Campbell and her team getting in trouble there that leaves Terrell County now with more Turner County now partnering to turn timeouts remaining You know you have to go out for that time so that's what I'm talking about, getting the ball, the hands of the right ones.
And every time you foul just in time for baseball season.
And Brian presented his latest documentary, Jackie Robinson.
It's an enthralling look at the groundbreaking career and civil rights activism of the baseball legend, featuring extensive interviews with his widow, Rachel.
See how their love story was the foundation for all of his success coming April 11 on GPB.
5 minutes and 5 seconds left in regulation turn.
Gowdy leading Darrell Gowdy, 4335 in the girls single-A public championship game.
And interesting enough, Terrell County back on the floor and turnover county still in their huddle.
You got it You've got to get it all down at this point because the way that timeout took place is now you don't have the opportunity to run the baseline because Coach Campbell had to call timeout to keep from getting the ten second back court count.
To have a spot at ball, you've got to be able to effectively come out of this timeout, get the balls in the hands of the ball, hands real offense and get the ball down the court ticket, take away time trouble in the back.
Four.
Does that put more pressure on giving Turner County a lot of problems.
They get bailed out right there a foul is going to be called in Whitey Whiting was laid to block Zoriah officers that'll put Zoriah office on the line for the one and one fourth foul.
Called on to Marius Whiting.
Okay, so you almost have two different games taking place right now in the same court, Tarrant County.
It's a free country.
Any contest make free throws like the ball game, but it's a real office and in a free throw she has a team high 18 points.
How about Soraya, who averages eight a game leading this team with 18 and Malaysia?
Yancy remains on the bench for Turner County.
We thought that she would be the story, but foul trouble has limited her in the second half McDaniel to this win with three big rebounds, the battle is going to be called on Turner Gowdy as Brittney Williams had her legs taken out from underneath her.
Hopefully she's okay.
She's grabbing at her knee.
That is a scary fall.
I think it scared of.
Moore Yeah.
And that's a really on the dance floor have again Terrell County on the offensive boards and she just get on the clip Wow And that is a very unorthodox ball It's scary.
Yeah what yeah.
What scares you is the fact that your knee likely gets a little hyperextended there right?
So self down your free throw line and missed the basket.
Terrell County has to take advantage of those clock stopped opportunities to score points.
Terrell has missed 29 of their last 33 shots pressure in the backboard they get it across and a foul is going to be called on Harvey Harvey got her with the body that's going to be number four on her.
So sort of since there's a real office, physical office attacking the paint, getting fouls, getting to the free throw line, Sky offers the five eight sophomore forward, 55% free throw shooter averaging seven points per game in sky office with her first point of the night all southwest Georgia third team honoree in a ten point lead again for Turner County.
And now time becomes a big issue for a Terrell county that simply can't get a basket.
They have to push it.
McDaniel comes out to get the ball and runs into Harvey McDaniel.
You Have to continue to do that.
You need the basketball in your hands to Mary's Whiting splits the defense misses the layup how many point blank shots they needed to be in count at this point, they just haven't been able to take advantage of it.
Tammy Jenkins, wearing the rest of the Terrell County crowd, upset.
They felt like Turner County had touched it last.
So they get the ball.
Look who's coming into the game.
Ball stolen away by McDaniel.
One man to beat in good defense by Saraya offers keep her from getting a good one McDaniel needed to be more patient on that layup Lacey Yancey waiting to check into the game right now to finish it off and a foul called and waiting to marry is waiting to be called for that foul and that's going to be number five on her I believe so from areas Whiting has found out of the game should finish the final game of her career with nine points.
You know it's their town.
They're still in this game, you know, obviously from the way they've been shooting, from a field goal perspective, you would think they're totally earshot out of you.
But, you know, teams have have been known for going out on great runs, you know, and they haven't really had their run.
They had to begin the game kind of simmer down since then.
338 left to play Bobby Soraya offense now with 20 points and Turner County lead by 12 McDaniel Miss Rebound Nancy Nancy Turner County crowd comes to their feet sensing a state championship up 12 with three to play and Turner going into their four corners just got to keep spacing out on the court move the ball James he gets a screen to work with They just want to run clock now it's a race against the clock.
This time is keep your spacing throughout.
You got to get up and race to the bottom of the to five second count.
You hear the crowd for Derby County season in the championship is not that far away at this point.
Lazy man seems to lay off his play playing Keep Away.
And now a foul was found on Carroll County.
Patty Powell.
Terrell County has certainly had their opportunities in this game.
24 offensive rebounds for them scored only 14 second chance on those 24 offensive boards.
You know and if they miss potentially looking at winning these games like what we have done better you know and a lot of it is as you just go back to the fundamentals in a box now taking your time, making layups, you know, countless repetitions and shooting layups and practices and consistently in games, you've got to be able to hit them when they count 19, something like this right here in the game.
And that was Lou Yancey with their first two points for the half.
McDaniel takes the three the offensive rebound and put back and finally the conversion there by Tim McDaniel McDaniel having a monster day on the floor, a double digit rebound day for Camille McDaniel to Miami and Camille in the game have done a lot of work here today for Terrell County but it looks like it's going to come Shawnee, Malaysia.
Nancy, back to the foul line.
And what kind of odds would you put on it, Keisha, if we would have said that Malaysia and she scored only three points in the second half, but Turner County would win by double digits.
I would not have put any eyes on that at all.
But, you know, I think that's the beautiful thing about that and the concept to explain how to win this game.
She's got foul trouble.
Now you have my teammates obviously stepping up to the plate and stepping up in big ways for 20 points for offense, 19 four games here.
They have led Turner County to what appears to be the state championship with 150 to point.
And then we have a fourth foul called on her well know and plus Jamaal McDaniel that come on McDaniel with nine her sister to with 15 today and you go back to the conversation that he had with coach Campbell the other day she talked about being at this level and, not being able to win the championship last year.
They just had that sour taste in their mouth the whole entire season, and they played with that sour taste in the mouth the entire season.
Tasha Campbell is going to complete one of the remarkable seasons of any high school coach ever in this state.
She's going to finish 54 and seven with a state championship in the girls classification, and she led the boys to the semifinals.
I mean, she's got a story within herself for sure.
Phil Jackson's got nothing on her.
Absolutely.
I mean, she's done it with the grace and the composing and just you know, and I say those two words and I just wanted to ask what she shows right now in this time out, with 126 left to go in a game, you know, the game is not over yet.
This game is not over yet.
The way Oh, oh, oh, yeah.
She got the girls and the boys burning that much energy.
You got to have anything you can do right here.
We're not, you know.
Right?
She leaves nothing behind.
Then.
And then we got Tasha Campbell to be a state championship right now.
But just finish in the top 40.
Last year, this time you had a target you set out for.
You have all these small ducks in a row each game for a season in your drive to the state championship game and now you're here.
It's just hard to beat this job at this point.
Down to our final 126, the single-A boys couple of championships coming up next year on MGP.
Nearly stolen away, knocked out of bounds by Camille McCann getting kicked out of bounds by McDaniel.
You know you almost wish that that the Terrell County would have put this press on just a little bit earlier Nancy gets fouled will put her at the line and when you fouled Yancy in this situation it's really hope against hope that she's going to miss right in this situation right here.
This is where you know our whole problem is points comes in get the free throw line she was 3438 at the foul line in their three state playoff games coming into today's action and she reaches 20 points for the day she may still get her average she's eight for eight today nine for nine.
She is really a phenomenal scorer who knows how many points she would have scored today had she not got in foul trouble.
But who knows if Turner County would have won if Saraya office had not stepped up when Yancey got into foul trouble.
Oh, with that, without a doubt.
Without a doubt.
If she had not had stepped up and been that offensive production that they needed to win, they needed these people in the right time, time water to provide that effort to the one 22.40 to office.
Who has been the big story, the biggest story for Turner County to today in a timeout call by Thomas to get levels are going to close this game on 18 to 6 one and after trailing by ten in the first quarter 1727 points Sweet coach Campbell just she still getting it done 37.8 seconds left to go in the game.
I don't think so.
Cracking smile today.
Stick around.
Coming up immediately following this one, about 15 to 20 minutes after we've got the single-A boys state championship game coming up as the Wilkinson County Warriors take on the Hancock Central Bulldogs.
And that's coming up immediately following this one full slate of four games today, three days of state championship action here.
TV down to our final 30 seconds.
Turner County going to run out the clock.
I'm going to focus at Turner down on the 2016 single-A girls public champion as they defeated county 5538.
It's just a great team.
Number one, isn't easy.
We've got to produce for everyone.
You have a robin in the back.
Man is a real effort to keep up just absolutely big on the offensive and defensive.
Well, they're Robin and Batman and Tasha.
Kimble is the commissioner.
She went for 54 and seven this 54 wins and just seven losses.
Coaching not only the girls team, but the boys.
And Tasha Kimball gets the Girls Trophy State championship.
Here is the real office.
The big story for Turner County today in the ledger, Yancey gets in the foul trouble.
Who was the real office who stepped up and carried this team in the third quarter off?
This finishes with 22 today, leading the rebels to the state title.
I mean, it's just been a great it's been a great game to see.
You saw so many ups and downs.
He saw he missed it.
So he took game.
But, you know, hats off to Tyler County for just sticking with it, you know, And it's just a tough blow for for Taylor right now not to be able to expect cessful with all the offensive rebounds.
There's so many chances and opportunities that they got to finish at the basket point blank.
Yeah.
Terrell county's going to look back at this game and really be disappointed with their lack of ability to finish at the rim.
They dominated on the glass dominated on the offensive boards but just could not capitalize on those second chance opportunities and, you know, and that goes for both sides.
But it was obviously more evident on the side of Terrell High.
You know, you just when you get to those layups, easy layups, the things that you practice day in and day out, you know, when you're playing the game of basketball, those are the chip shots.
Those are the shots you want to make, you know, an opportunity for for fraternity just to take advantage of that and get down and get easy baskets.
Congratulations.
Turner County, the state champions, they beat Terrell County 5538 and come back with the championship bracket presentation.
