This is the boys to a finale, the Thomasville Bulldogs taking on the Dublin Fighting Irish.
This is Game nine of 11 here on championship weekend right here on GPB.
Hello again, everybody, and welcome.
I'm Jim Pinocchio.
Boy, I hope you enjoy a championship weekend because this is the place to be for basketball.
Great games played so far on GPB and we've got some more coming your way.
The two AA Boys championship game, the two guys to call it, the radio voice of the Atlanta Braves, Duke, Clyde Tech and the elevator from the K to Herbalife.
Jim, thanks very much.
One team hasn't won a state championship in 40 years.
To put that in perspective, my partner Herb White, was playing high school basketball.
The other team, Thomasville, coming off one of the biggest upsets of the entire tournament.
So, Herb, I ask you right off the bat, does one team have a decided emotional advantage coming into this thing?
Well, when you beat the number one team, they beat East Hall.
Sometimes you get a little bit of a letdown.
And I think we saw that yesterday over in Gwinnett.
You know, Beech had had a great upset over Wheeler.
Nobody expected that looked like they had a little bit of an emotional letdown against Norcross in their ballgame, but doesn't happen every time And your rights do.
Thomasville and Devlin are not really big names.
And let's take a look at that.
We saw Kelvin Brown there.
He's a guy to look for on on that Thomasville team.
One of the younger players.
This is a young team.
On the other hand, Dublin is one of the veteran teams, even though they haven't won one in 40 years.
They came in ranked fourth in the state.
And this is a young guy who can fill it up.
Ben Smith, 22 points a game, six assists, four steals.
He makes that offense go for the Irish.
One team is deeper, one team throws a lot of subs out.
Yeah what a game it should be.
The tale of two teams.
Let's go to the PA announcer for your starting lineup.
So the Double-A championship game, the Bulldogs with a record of 27 wins and five losses dressed in red as your visitors on the scoreboard and the Dublin Fighting Irish, a record of 27 wins and two losses dressed in white as your home team.
May I have your attention for the starting line ups?
First for Thomas Fail at guard number three, a five foot seven senior Trevor Davis at guard number 23, a six foot junior, Kevin Ball at forward number four, a six foot four junior Pass Scott at forward number 12, a six foot two junior might run it at center number 44, six foot five.
Southpaw.
DANIELLE Well, and double spills.
Hip hop patrols.
Hello.
And now for Dublin eight Guard number five, a six foot junior.
Thomas born at forward number four, a six foot one senior Jay Stocky at guard number three, a six foot senior.
Brant Johnson at guard number 14, a five foot ten senior here, Senior at forward number 15, a six foot four senior.
Chris, one and Dublin's head coach Clint Thomas is coming up.
It's the Thomasville Bulldogs against the Dublin Fighting Irish Double High School Championship basketball his next.

And on welcome back to the Macon sound packs the Double-A championship boys high school basketball game about ready to get underway Thomasville against Dublin Our man on the sideline Gerald on the very end Gerald what you got cookin before the game Even tips off.
Hey, everything's good over here still.
Now, of course, Dublin is no stranger to the Macon Coliseum.
They played here last year, the semifinal game against your usual state champion East Hall.
Now they're back this year.
And much like I feel when I do the laundry and leave it in the dryer for about three weeks, they've got a lot of unfinished business.
That's been the slogan that they've used to motivate the team to get back here to the state title.
Now I've Thomasville has anything to say about that.
They're going to leave those close to the dryer for another year to.
Thank all of you.
Thank you, Gerald.
I thought when he was talking about lottery, he wanted to see how the tide would turn.
But here we go.
Dublin, of course, in the white and green, already attacking the hoop and Dublin, a lot more experienced in this Thomasville blue ball team.
Will that make a difference for both teams?
Kind of strangers to state championship game State.
So it's going to be interesting to see if they can shake off their early jitters.
Mike Ruddick Inside as Thomas Thomasville takes an early lead.
We underway here from the Macon set plex.
Glad you're aboard for the Double-A championship boys game.
What a series of upsets it has been.
And one of the bigger one.
But is Thomasville, a Blue Dog team?
Straight up man to man by the Bulldogs.
This Irish team very, very, very experienced, but not real deep off to win and the rebound goes to, I believe, Thomas Dill.
Let's see what Thomas goes on.
I want to just tell you about Thomas.
Go ahead.
This is kind of interesting.
Warriors team, two of their leading scorers, the two guys out of ten over 20 come off the bench.
First time I've seen that ever in basketball, high school, college or professional level where your two leading scorers come off the bench.
But the coach has got his reasons and it's worked out for him the last several games for sure.
And as the game progresses and the guys come in, we'll tell you the reasons for bringing those two guys off the bench.
Thomas Here with the good defense, the more the borders here, Dwight mentioned extending the defense right now, doubling the experience and placing team on offense That's good Johnson to the hoop losing the ball and here comes time to score the love to run with the ball up to no good off the court Kelvin Brown but he's been aggressive so far early going sweet move behind the back by Kevin Brown taking it to the rack and you know Dublin is never say die they were down 18 or 19 points the other night and came back and won the ballgame.
So no lead is too big for these guys to come back on again.
Look at the four minute mark in the first half.
Coaches Coach Tower collects it all for 2 to 3 games.
Maybe five guys at a time.
Get fresh bodies in there.
The coach, of course.
So the Dublin fighting, I was talking Thomas I got Kelvin Brown on the push there Tight rope right there by Chris right at midcourt with a three pointer look for the foul but it's short Yeah rebound underneath up and in small move by Thomas Barnes to too early going double a high school basketball championship held right you right handed grab your weapons we're here at the Lincoln Center plex where there's been some funding from basketball for the last four days of the semifinals and now the finals contest.
We're trying to work it inside forward.
A nasty pick out front.
And so far, Mike Reddick inside.
And it looks like this Thomas girl team getting the better of it, at least inside the power forward to the Bulldogs credit Darnell Webb for that basketball.
He put a pick on the Irish bench.
Nice jumper, nice shot by Ben Smith.
And this is the pace you're going to see all evening.
Both teams at the cross, both teams like the Man to man and both teams like to push the ball.
It comes time to steal on the break, two on one shot up.
Very nicely done by Darnell Webb, who had a very big game in the semifinals.
He's a six force sophomore.
Man.
man, what a player he's got to do.
What a player he already is.
Nice little floater.
Kept his control.
Both teams coming out.
Hot stuff.
Chris Wright with the bucket the fall and he'll go to the line for one bourbon Just guessing what he had this kind of frantic pace of course is always nerves in the finals but we were up and down.
You take a lot of shots.
Is that one of that?
Is Coach Carlo Kellogg.
When you take a lot of shots, the nursing and the jitters settle down a lot earlier definitely helps.
Chris Wright shooting 166 tie so far early state Double-A championship up and the shot is good for shot is good and here comes Dublin the fighting Irish almost with the turnover and they can do that because they will go about ten or 11 deep as I mentioned early going yeah Thomasville really lost the press really loves to push this ball problem with the steal nice steal by Ben Smith underneath twisted and up No do it one more time Pick Johnson face up high off the court Nicely done It's like Britain they play a little football I bet he does.
Number five looks like he's six foot about 225 Pressure broken and looks like a foul.
Chris Wright from behind got good elevation but it looked like caught him with the body from behind ST that's right likes to play defense and he's a 21 point game score as well Thomasville coming into tonight 27 and five and those Dublin fighting Irish rank fourth and Double-A 27 A to two teams with a lot of confidence as Dublin puts it only three point lead now a two point lead there just in so far that 40 years ago it's been three years since Dublin has won a high school championship.
You mentioned it.
You said I was playing.
Thomasville has never won one course.
So hurt us.
Hurt us playing the games, not televised, actually television just coming up with existence one three pointer nicely done by Gerald Stuckey who stuck it and it's 12 eight Dublin with an early first quarter lead.
I'll tell you what had Thomas the love going inside that's Mark Reddick again and that might be a big key to this game early long pass within the first three pointer pull up and good but you stuck in two in a row 50 to 10 Dublin Good thing he made that he had a guy wide open under the roof Brother steel press is working that man against the whole time for the game to slide and he'll go to the line for two underneath.
Shake it up just a bit Kelvin Brown He tried to block that shot, but he looks to be okay.
Yep, Just lost his balance.
Chris Wright took it to the hoop strong.
Let's see it again right here.
I love this kind of game.
Was pressure up and down the court just feeling it early?
I like to see him just go with the left hand on the lay up, though he was little too far underneath to go for the dunk probably would have come away with the basket and one to last time Thomasville won a state title.
That was in 1998.
It was a girl state title with both teams hoping to put some demons to rest.
This right there on the first one and flop added from about 20 seconds or so folks, time on Kellogg will probably do some mass substituting Dublin with that pressure.
And why not?
So far it has worked.
Thomas Gore bringing it up.
The Bulldogs under control this time.
That's the during this whole long shot.
Well, Julius Hall, one of those guys off the bench only a junior averaging 21 points a game and you can see why three point contest rebound by put Johnson up and he's fouled on the play Darnell Webb is setting some great picks down here for Thomasville That's the second time he's been responsible that time for a three pointer few minutes to go for a drive to the hoop You're watching me stand out there at the head the circle and he's not a big guy, real slim, but he sticks out there and puts a pick on somebody and he freezes.
Man, that I talked about at the beginning of the game.
Thomas The the two leading scorers coming off the bench is the foul shot.
But good Johnson has done the Dallas haul averaging 21 points a game off the bench.
Jabar more 20 points a game to Derrius how to be well just Larry problems that's why he's coming off the bench and more was a transfer during the season so he just trying to work in and work in he is 1813 doubling up by five.
Thomas here gets the ball through the hole no good shot by Darnell Wood and Dublin hustling They've got a man open.
That man is going to go easy for the easy way up.
And Mr. Johnson had the lay up and just totally blew it.
And that is a break for Thomas Cook.
Sometimes he just wants are the ones you miss.
Well Brett one to get all the elevation he good he probably been better off taking about a half jump and just laying it up there 321 left in this first quarter of the double championship 1813 make that 1815 Dublin up by three where there is hull breaking free under the hoop and a nice look always helps when everyone on the team can handle Look at the way outside.
My goodness that was a lot by Chris Wright and Thomasville controls one to control break another three pointer up how about that with Julius Hall off the bench that's how he can set it up and water it up 1818 to 49 in the fourth quarter.
It's great to have 41 points coming off the bench every game.
Steve, Ben Smith, try to set it off.
He's a senior, fouled ten points off to the hole, takes the jumper and hits off the rim.
Thomas who controls the ball boards coming up is another three pointer up no good rebound and still no good second shots doubling fire hits the rebound controlled by one of the little guys Ben Smith throwing it up and that's not a good foul Chris.
Right to go to the line for three.
You're right.
Well, he was three steps beyond the three point line.
Believe it.
Let him go with that one step.
Jamal Moore with the foul and so far some terrific action early dance through Titanic and Herbalife coming to you live from the Macon Center.
That's where you're watching double our high school championship basketball.
First up first.
Good bye, Chris.
Like all those Dublin fighting artists, you know, I was talking to Coach Thomas before the game.
I said, you know, you realize obviously that it's been 40 years, but have you heard from people?
Yes.
Yeah, I've heard from every single player saying, come on, Coach, first championship back.
One more for Chris Wright.
And here's the substitutions coming at both sides.
But certainly for Thomasville, they bring it in and knock it out.
As I mentioned, Dublin goes on seven or eight deep.
So second half going to be huge because this pace is frantically frantic with both teams playing under control as well.
And, you know, if you've been playing all year with seven or eight guys, you can go pretty good.
Yeah, you're pretty good.
Safe yourself.
You're probably okay.
You're right.
28 in Dublin, up by a hoop.
So still in here is that man.
I can take it this right Dublin ball.
Good crowd here on hand to Dublin just down the road, about 45 minutes from make it maybe an hour, I guess.
And big turnout for them.
It looks like Thomasville.
Crowds here to Thomasville known for their football.
But the the folks have turned out to support the round ball to Dublin Tim Barrett their own hoops wall to wall fly and go folks wanting to travel.
This is the kind of game hub where the coach says first one to spot the basket shooting Ross Stuckey, who has been hot in the first half, gives it off and there's a double Ben Smith with a three pointer.
And he and Chris Wright both have good looking stroke from out there that caught pressing by double getting Thomas a bit of problems.
Now they settle back looking inside as they have early going long shot good shot there he is.
He has a score Jamal Moore he's got a nice stroke, only a junior.
It's my third JJ championship this year.
The best shooting I've seen so far in the first quarter.
I mean, that's a guy six, five.
He's shooting from three point.
And I tell you what, they just missed a hold on that and grabbed the jersey That doesn't matter here we double Chris Wright with a three pointer.
Well they're on a pace for over 100 and Thomasville not far in Dublin and Thomasville not far behind.
21 points already, just over a minute left in the hole.
And someone actually took a lay up in the game.
That was Darnell Webb going to the hole for Thomasville.
Why the 624 is disappointing to just get three points down the floor and both teams tough man to man the pull up a little short but Ben Smith with the rebound is there a nice follow up on the shot you got to get a body in front of that shooter and it cost Thomasville.
Then it razzle dazzle.
Nice.
Do we have a rock or a foul?
We have to walk.
Donald Webb, a little bit of traveling.
First time on Kelly off the bench say hey, hey, y'all have to be so fancy.
Just get to the hoop.
This Dublin team has been around for a while.
Close knit group, mostly seniors in their starting lineup as opposed to Thomasville, a very young team.
Of course, Dublin did get some good experience last year, making it to the Final Four.
Yep, that beat by East Hall.
And we've seen these hall a lot the last few years and Dublin came back and got them this year.
Dublin going for that final shot with 10 seconds to go up by five points.
Let's see who they go to the jumper off and nicely done by Ben Smith.
And now to win the first quarter up and down, it has been wall to wall action.
It has been at the end of a one quarter and the double Irish championship game.
It's Dublin 30, Thomasville 23.
And I'd like to suggest to you that inspiration is not something that comes and goes.
This is a whole new look at inspiration.

This is Georgia Public Broadcasting, your PBS station.
Welcome back to the Boys State Championship, Double-A, Dublin 30, Thomasville 23.
After just one quarter, your impressions Really going home.
Dublin, just shoot the lights out.
Thomasville playing very well offensively.
What they've got to do Dublin is getting an awful lot of shots from the foul line outs about the head of the key there around the three point line and for some reason that shot's coming open.
Thomas Miller's got to make an offensive adjustment out front.
They're both teams hot from the three point line two 3 to 5 for Thomasville, four for eight for Dublin.
Second quarter action just on your way.
And Thomas Thomasville with the ball looking to shoot from the outside and going hard and it's gone for you But coming up just a bit short on that one was Will Darrius Hall and the other way we got Dublin under control what we call a control break to the hoop.
Plus Reuters looked good on the boards and I believe it's happened We got a piece of that.
Was it going to start on?
Barnes Yeah, but that big body up in the air pretty good.
I was going to say Thomasville settling for the three pointer.
Why not the Darrius Hall shooting it up 30 to 26.
You see how you can average 21 points off the bench.
Man in there I say have that all game is Thomas one long three pointer just short by Chris White on the boards no good again with some hops number three good Johnson Thomasville Farley controls and here we go Calvin Webb Nice job taps it up and you know what?
It's going to be important on the offensive boards I heard they need a team with a lot of size so everybody rebounds for both teams from three pointer by Dexter Short little this guy up there Jonathan Davis gets the rebound There's Kelly exhorting his crew to get up the floor with it is that man again tomorrow in the hall I love this kid doesn't have a consequence.
Just throw it up and here comes jumper looking inside.
Nice look off and reverse layup.
Enough time for Johnson using that left hand.
So it's about 5053 point shots and three point shot attempts.
Up to this point at the Masters Day, the team afraid to launch the trade in Dublin has we mentioned in 40 years since they've won a state high school championship.
Thomas here with the big upset, the semifinals over East Hall.
This is kind of interesting too.
I've never had a coach say this today.
I talked to Coach Kellogg before the ball game, as I mentioned, and he said he lost three of the last four regular season movies.
It was long years.
You know, I wasn't mentally into the game.
That's something for a coach and that's for sure.
Thomas here with the rebound, try to go inside and there's a foul for Chris right 603 left in the second quarter Dublin up by 630 to 26.
You had a game that we expected very fast paced for.
Kelvin Brown thought about it the various hall didn't have to and here we go the other way with the out of and a little too much if not not valid.
Well it was tipped by Thomas well Darnell Webb looks like he's the toughest inside player on either team.
They're going to have to use him some in there those fadeaway threes from 27 feet rather see you go inside for an easier to the floor.
The semifinals Thomas Bill was only giving up 42 points a game I think there's some station right there.
Real Madrid.
How can you let a guy that big sneak in the back door?
I don't know.
That's like a semi.
McGuirk gets in there six five and I say that to Tony Long three pointer off the mark That's tie score for the rebound Control of him thrown out of bounds by two Barea Davis Treveon trying to just get a little too fancy coming up Don't forget to and girls chip away going at it right after this ballgame And then we've got the nightcap of the final game as we give it triple for triple action and we're looking forward to that That's what's done.
What are you against Westlake but concentrating on double action right now Florida use the backboard things they do better than the little guy inside with nowhere to go.
It's a tough try to him.
Davis kicks it outside Thomas 363 pointer No good up and good by Dunn out Well but I don't care how many three pointers you're shooting someone's got to do something inside here That's what I'm telling you.
Darnell Webb looks like a guy that can get some things done inside.
I don't believe Thomas Dublin's got an answer for him.
And so I try to go in the paint room.
Is it possible that even though you're scoring a lot, you're still playing pretty good man to man defense?
It's a long three pointer is off underneath up and all in his foot shots for sure.
There's good defense being played.
These guys were just knocking them down early on.
Most of them had a hand in their first double double in 36, 28 in the second quarter.
This got a championship game and there was a turnover.
Well, they were trying to go in to Webb inside, but the pass wasn't there.
The defensive rebound is going to be important in a game where all the shots go, all the three pointers aren't going to fall hard to someone's going to have to get on their defensive boards.
I think there's nobody on the floor over six foot four.
So it's going to be important for everybody to get on the glass.
Jeremy Stuckey at the line by mistake.
That's Ben Smith at the line shooting to one.
And I thought it was Hephzibah for those guys in the truck.
But it's been so long.
Thanks boys.
That's one of the games coming up one of the two that's coming up in girls action.
I figure I don't want to put your names into the second half.
Citing high school basketball action, Thomas will looking inside a little more, posting this all offensive series a little more crazy.
in and out and almost a ten Jackson.
This is going to be an easy one to perhaps a dunk no left handed low at the other end.
Daniel Webb, the sophomore good looking sophomore non stop up and down basketball good defense there inside boy good one more time and good bye Brook Johnson Nice effort slick pass by Ken Dixon.
It's a ten point lead for Dublin but in a game like this Herb that's like a two point lead because it's fast pace a couple of threes and they're right back in it there.
You've got to look at Coach Clinton Thomas, who's been at Dublin for ten years.
So this is an exceptional group of kids and I think, you know what, you talk to the coaches, we'll talk about the ability as they get it inside and there's a sleep play there.
Donna Webb with the bucket.
All these coaches will tell you they're great basketball players.
They're even better kids.
Yeah, I'm telling you, Darnell Webb can do a lot of damage inside.
Nice cork jumper.
No good offense there.
And all of a sudden, Thomas will get more those boards.
Whoa!
Three pointer.
five.
Scott didn't believe that one came out.
That wasn't has got to quite good bleed of his time more.
Well you're right it wasn't the ball but here we go back and forth Just put that in Ed to the hole inside and then well I was trying to get in there.
Now they're taking control of the boards again.
Jamaal Moore shows that he's versatile inside it out for the 34, as we mentioned, it could happen awfully quickly.
Double play action from here and make him glad to have your board.
Let me mention that it's viewers like you that help make great local programs like these high school basketball championships possible in Georgia Public Broadcasting.

And as we look at champions today, I'll say Pius over Mary's.
What a rivalry that was this year.
Had the Catholic population of Atlanta for that one Columbia winner and for boys over Douglas County, 78 to 50.
Atlanta in the wheelchair final over West Georgia, 18 to 16, that one win right down to the wire.
We had a shot to tie it at the buzzer.
Collinsville, a winner by 1065 to 55 and 40 yesterday of the boys on Friday.
The winner, as you see North Cross right here, 66 to 49 over Beech.
There we were talking out of boots had that big upset win in the next game.
It just didn't happen for them.
Yeah, wonderful work by all the champions that have won so far.
And we got a chance to see Maya moore in that Collinsville Championship.
Maybe the best girls player in the in the country and the best high school girl player I've ever seen in Georgia.
I thought Tasha Humphrey was up until I was.
I think Maya moore is just unbelievable from one of the floor together.
She can do it all.
He told me that last night.
Yeah, you told me that before today's game.
Humphries, the best girls player I've ever seen.
And you said she's better.
That's a three pointer, Watson.
No good times.
God is feeling it.
It's just not dropping.
40, 34.
Only 2 minutes left in the second quarter.
Go away.
Actually here for making man that out as it's been all game long double team now and it looks to me like Thomasville just picked it up a little.
Well they've extended the defense I was talking about it but they were getting so many shots in the header circular and burying them.
They've extended that defense out.
Now.
They're not giving that shot up anymore.
Jonathan Walters, the big guy from Dublin with the easy shot.
Look at that.
Watch it up and in and out.
So it's a battle on the boards.
They had to give them four points if they'd have made that one state that was a good eight feet down the three point line.
Well, Jamaal Moore preparing for the NBA three pointer, comes down.
Coach Kelly maintains his demeanor.
I guess he doesn't mind those guys launching them from out there.
Got him this far.
Both teams obviously coming in with confidence but coming in a little differently.
Dublin, right for 27 and two.
Thomas are coming in off the big win over East Hall in the semifinals.
See Troy Stuckey for two and one to make he would have gotten two so it's off and here we go.
One, two, three, four, eight.
Play lead for the Irish.
nice.
Drive into the hole.
Jamal Moore, the other 20 point game score for Thomasville Coach did tell me before the game that Damar transferred to Thomas County Central.
It didn't work his way into the lineup, just couldn't find it.
But the way I'm looking at it, if you're scoring 20 and you got that kind of talent, must be some good players ahead of them.
Well, it's tough as a coach.
It's a tough call for the coach.
If you come in halfway through the season and you've got a good lineup and you're playing well, you know, I mean, a guy and he likes to get his shot.
I mean, so, you know, that can disrupt your offense.
Better to have a guy coming off the bench.
I think like that.
You're absolutely right.
And Coach Kellogg mentioned, you know what, I like this kid because look at those numbers.
He brings some energy.
I like it.
Look, he's going to get his time.
He's going to get his minutes.
But when he comes off the bench, it's like lightning.
And you don't mind a guy shooting a lot if he is going to get 12 rebounds a game for you.
So, yeah, he's six foot five, a good looking athlete and only a junior.
As a matter of fact.
Take a very good look at this.
Thomasville scene, because no matter what happens this evening against Dublin, only one of their top seven players is a senior.
So you might see this team back in right here next year.
First one good.
Second one, no good.
So it stands at 4235, fighting nine Irish up by seven.
I'm telling you, Ken Dixon can really get off the floor and he is a stocky individual, not only for his body, but he really gets up there, looks like what you are is what's a little bit of a zone.
And that actually took us all into the second quarter until further notice.
One of the best sleepers on a court.
So that's a lot.
And there we go up and no good by that man again, Jamaal Moore.
Thomasville controls maybe a little bit of Jersey your arm a little bit And I don't you know we shouldn't take anything away from Norcross we're talking about and a little bit of a letdown after playing well and beating them the number one team.
But believe me, Norcross is for real, a super talented basketball team.
I can tell you from doing these games over the years, it's a long three pointer fruits in there.
That is good.
Bollettieri is Hall that this state of Georgia is loaded with high school basketball talent.
The last two or three years been unbelievable Seems like every team you see has one or two major college players, three pointers slowing down.
Just a little surprise in Dublin didn't hold for the last shot.
And let's see if Thomas still does with 17 seconds to go down by six points.
I doubt it.
But let's see.
He made it out nine points inside to the big guy up and he is fouled.
Mark Reddick will be going to the line.
Just 6 seconds left in this second quarter of a high school championship.
Basketball coach felt and the Bulldogs coach was at the game last night.
Sitting across in the halftime, I ran over and I asked him kind of tough to watch this segment with Jodie Meeks going to Kentucky and Danny Law was six nine player also from Norcross.
His son is committed to tech and he's a heck of a player, but he had Jeremy Price in the ball game the other day in the fourth game yesterday, who's committed to Georgia, six nine player for Columbia.
So just great players all up and down that move in that arena.
Keep him in state whether it's Georgia or Georgia Tech Sector one is good 4439 which is six blocks left in this first half.
Coming up in a rush in a hurry.
Done Smith up and no good and will be the final shot of an up and down and action filled first half everything that we expected Herb and maybe just maybe even a little more defense wasn't that bad.
I thought the defense was pretty good even though they were going up and down it.
It tightened up a little in that second quarter.
Well, let's see what the coach has to say.
Let's take it to our guy on courtside, Jarell Olivera.
All right, thanks.
The last two, I'm here with Coach Thomas, as we've been talking about throughout the broadcast, It's going to be a fast paced game.
Are you happy with the team, the way your team is played so far?
Yes.
We still got to do a better job on the boards.
we're running good.
But we got must have been busting them out.
They get in too many second shots are what are you going to tell your team at halftime basically.
Well I just told you keep right in there about job busting out and getting good rhythm in the passing game.
All right.
Well, good luck in the second half.
Thank you.
Back over to you.
Through doubling up on Thomas Hill, 44 to 39.
More to come.
We're at halftime.

The Boys Double-A championship double in league Thomasville at the half 44 to 39 championship weekend rolls on here on GPB.
Hello again, everybody.
I'm Jim Jean.
Akio halftime festivities underway.
We throw it downstairs to Gerald Oliver, Rich Gerald, thanks a lot.
Jim.
Right now I'm here with Dr. Jean Nesbitt and also Dr. Boykins.
Everett, we'll start off with Ladies first.
He's the superintendent of the Thomasville School system.
What are some of the major things going on in your area right now?
Well, actually, Thomasville continues its tradition as a great academic high school.
We are currently seeking new high school principal and we've tried not to let the testing and this be a big distraction.
The boys have maintained great grades and there's wonderful support and we're just excited to be here.
It's been more than 20 years and we have a young team and we anticipate a victory today.
And also we'll be back next year.
We have a young team.
We're excited.
Speaking of their support, I've heard a lot from your section.
Just talk about the amount of people who have come up today to cheer on your team.
Absolutely.
I think if you look at the crowd and the bulldog signs provided by a local newspaper, you'll see we have several hundred people here today and having to travel about 3 hours.
I think that says a lot about the support for the team.
Okay.
Well, let's move on over to Dr. Jean Nisbet Now.
You also have a lot of fan support here to just talk about your section.
I believe we have a number of people here this afternoon.
If you look over there on our side, you see that we're in for we're only 45 minutes away from here.
So it's very easy for our folks to get here.
But we had to go down to Savannah last weekend and we had a large contingency of fans come down and support us there.
So we're very pleased to be here.
This is really 45 years since we've been in this spot from Devlin High School.
45 years.
Wow.
Now, I understand you also got some big things going over there as well, some construction at the school.
Talk about this.
Yes, we do.
We're in the process of building a new high school.
Also, we're in the process of renovating the old Shamrock Bowl.
It's a wonderful place to be.
It's in the natural shape of a bowl.
We're building a new dressing facility and a fieldhouse.
They're also renovating the concession stands, the press box and the old fieldhouse.
So we're looking forward to it.
We are proud that the people have supported this blast in Dublin for us to be able to do that.
So it's a wonderful opportunity for Dublin High School and we're looking forward to it.
Now, this has been a fast paced game, a very exciting game for both teams out there.
I mean, just talk about the play today and how exciting things have been for what you've been able to see.
Well, I'll tell you, we played Thursday night here and yesterday at school.
It was just a long day.
It seemed like yesterday would never get over because everyone was looking forward to coming over here, playing the game.
The first half has been up and down the court.
Both teams have been present and fast break, so it's just been an exciting first half and I look forward to the continuation of that.
The second half, I don't see any letup.
Let's move back over here.
How about you?
What do you what are your thoughts on first day?
I don't think the pace is going to slow down.
It's absolutely been a shootout and forth.
I've been on edge.
Didn't sleep well last night having to anticipate this drive.
And I'll tell you, my husband knows when I get quiet, I'm as intense as the fellows are in the game.
I would.
Thanks a lot.
BOYKINS Everett, also Dr. Gene Nesbitt.
Let's send it back over to Jim.
I thank you, Gerald.
It's always great to hear about what's going on the schools throughout the state and to more great schools there.
Okay, let's throw it back courtside to Stu Clayton and Herb White.
Hey, guys.
Jim, thank you very much.
What we expected really a lot of good outside shooting, a lot of outside shooting period and a lot of basketballs going in from the three point area.
And that was a key to the first half.
Yeah.
Let's take a look at some of the highlights there.
Stu, call them out.
Well There you go.
I mean, it was Chris White Bell battling back and forth.
That was a Derrius Moore.
You know, Jamaal Moore was put in the middle.
Jerry Hall was throwing them up there.
And those two guys came off the bench, as we expected for Thomas Walker Jumper.
Not to be outdone, that is Stuckey from the three point line and everybody was getting to that.
Little Ben Smith has been hot in this first half he hit a three pointer and I think it was almost a three point shooting contest, early going both teams red hot, no nurse or either team.
And as you would expect, a 44 to 39 game, Dublin up by five.
What can we expect as we look at these halftime stats?
Well, let's take a look at it pretty even on the shooting, 16 for 38 and 15 for 30 for Thomasville, three point shots, both teams throwing them up there, 14 thrown up by the Irish.
They were 414 Thomasville, a little better, five of 16 not many free throws for Thomasville as they were content to shoot from outside, 18 rebounds, 16 rebounds, really even not many turnovers for the fast paced threw.
That's kind of interesting.
And second chance points.
Dublin had a few more put backs.
The jury has all the 14 parts done a web with 12 points.
So maybe with all this three point shooting, whoever does better in the second half inside could take this game 4439, double that over Thomasville Doughboy.
High school basketball action is about continue even after 37 years, it's still fresh.

Steer clear talking heard white our pleasure to have you from the Macon $300 cineplex.
And let's get a real quick update from the sideline.
Joe Delivery is our man Joe, what do you got?
I'm standing here with Coach Kellogg from Thomasville.
Now, that first half was a very fast paced game, as we expected.
What's your thoughts about that first half?
Well, we know that's that's the pace.
We want to keep it that, you know, we're behind right now.
But if we can keep it at that pace, we just try to lay them down.
They shoot the ball extremely well, but when they miss, we can't let them rebound the ball and get second chance shot.
So, yeah.
All right.
Well, thanks a lot, Coach.
Good luck in the second half, but still should be another barnburner.
Yeah, it should be a good first half and it was a good first half.
Should be a sensational second half in here.
Right here.
We talked about it.
We talked about in the first half that defensive rebounding, keeping guys off the boards could be the difference in this game.
Coach Kelly, a man of few words.
You know what?
When you interview any coach at any level at halftime, they don't want to talk to you.
They don't want to go back to the bench.
If you ask him, what did you say?
Right now, he has no idea w to start things off in the second half as the Irish, their traditional gold and green and white and bring the ball up man that and as always this composite team as the coach said just charge to well you that and out of balance one thing I think Thomas well there's no problem with playing fast I don't mind the team playing fast I think the shot selection was a little too shot a little quick.
Sometimes you can get the ball up the floor in a hurry.
I thought the shot selection was a little bad and I think that's why they're down five at this point.
Well, it's almost become a cliche, but John Wooden, the fairness coach at UCLA, always said, be quick, but don't rush.
And so that's sort of the key to the second half.
Way outside and good for Mr. Luxurious Hall.
So he starts the second half.
And why not?
And so for on going Thomas bills well 4442 we're just underway in the second half.
Well we've got more and but there is hall in the game he said they didn't start the game he didn't said they didn't start the second half.
That's right.
Almost on a technicality.
It's the most firepower I've seen in the high school game this year.
This is really an entertaining throwing it up from way outside.
Some terrific athletes going back and forth inside.
A little bit of a push off, but it works.
And here we go.
We got again Mike Riddick inside 4444 turnover up and get that man again Jamal Moore And a timeout quickly taken by Fulton Thomas who has seen enough and can pull it out a push up but you're more and more responsible for seven quick points he hits the three to open the half passes a nice lob pass inside makes it five and then takes it and banks it on the floater for two more.
He's got seven quick points in under a minute.
Well there's that easy hoop inside you can throw up the three pointers but if you get those easy hooks like that by Mike Reddick, you're going to be in good shape and you heard Coach Kellogg say, you know what, If we keep this pace up, if we keep pressure, then we should be okay.
And in a matter of you're right, a minute, 46 of 44, Thomas still has taken the lead.
Let me remind you, this game can be also viewed live on JB Internet site around the world.
W w w watch dot org just for the links to the content for the game.
Every game will be archived and available later on GPB the website as well.
That's w w w dot gpb dot org.
That's amazing.
Scary to think people around the world to be watching history telling you when we were planning this one, they just invented the black and white camera and this was still shots Dublin trying to get on the board trying to recover after a terrible start to this third quarter.
So they go inside.
Nicely done by Chris Wright.
We try to spin up at 46 and 46.
And I know it's early.
Did you get the feeling we could be going down to the wire as they trade us?
We should have seen Dublin with the turnover leading the way.
Chris Wright with another hoop and all of a sudden back and forth we go and Dublin takes the two point lead and Ben Smith given credit those baskets with assists by Ben Smith push off and I'm going to call with long three pointer doesn't go back to there and Davison double with another rebound and that's going to be important region but not good winning look at Dublin trying to go inside went up by Mike What a controls for Thomas is he will bring up three against one so a set up for up to shoot to it That's the kind of shot I saw my little while ago maybe ill advised one on three on the break you got nobody rebound and underneath I know Ludacris has got a lot of confidence in that jumper.
But again, Coach Kelly says nothing.
So this reminds me of the aviators.
If the ball was red, white and blue, it should be the ABA.
Just like, by the way, shake it up a little on that play, holding his right elbow.
We'll keep an eye on that.
Now we're looking as the 32nd clock, but we wouldn't need one out here talking about elbows.
This is like as the day starts from ten, we're going out to ice a few elbows now.
Nicely done, Jumper.
Good to go by Tuscon or excuse me, by George Stuckey, who had a good first half 58 to 46 W But for looks like the Irish in a little bit of a zone trying to slow down there's Thomas Gibson and they do it double on the break Whoa we're all up and no good and Jamal Moore you would appreciate that totally jumped over Yes he did took the fake but he was able to get elevate so high missed fouling the man but jumped completely over him and here you see it.
That's Guy Savoy, Stuckey said.
What was that?
That just flew over me.
You know, this isn't a bad move by Coach Clinton Thomas of of the Irish.
He sees that this is Thomas still feels like shooting from outside so what point made a mistake up in the zone Let's make him feel a little more from the outside and they will get some rebounds and can turn things around.
And so far it's working.
Thomas score What they did against that gentleman had to go inside 50 to 46 five, 13 left in the third quarter.
This is double AA championship action Thomas good against Dublin Roy Stuckey with another angle and we got a pretty good battle going on down low with Mike Redick from Thomasville and Thomas Barnes looks like a couple of football players going at it down low.
You might want to keep an eye on that.
Let's see if Thomas still tries to go inside and they do the second row and it'll be the Irish Ball.
Well, they got the right idea.
They just didn't have the foot cook.
Thomas will team with the pressure, the hesitation move just up.
Following that, the zone shot Ben Smith really outside falling down off the board We'll take it Chris road I think his elbow is okay.
I didn't hear him call banks but they're going to give it to him anyhow.
Still counts Dublin back in the morning and nice steal by the big guy Look down below back and in And how about that Thomas How dumb fouls Ball's hit Horford wide open underneath another easy shot and that is Mike Reddick and back and forth we go that was Thomas Barnes man somebody has got to help him out.
He just took the ball coast to coast for the layup, got to rotate on defense, starting 5638 for 15 left third quarter pulled up by eight.
So no let up in the action.
And I'm telling you Thomas Barnes, watch him now.
He got to move.
He can motivate and he can score again and take it with the one hand.
That's pretty.
That is nice.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's a linebacker on the football team or a fullback.
So it was all outside shooting first half and now her second half.
As you see part of this great crowd here in Macon, it's the inside that is making the difference.
Yeah, we're getting a little bit of everything.
That's right.
You get what you want to see in a basketball game.
All green on one side, all maroon on the other side, and all running up and down on the court.
Non stop.
Here we go again.
We have some Coast Guard, the whole all of a sudden it's a one point lead, double digit lead for the first time tonight for either team Thomas in these two hands and they can't double braking again one man trying to finish flips and what are we going to get a walk that goes the other way that look dangerous coming down?
It looks like Thomas Barnes might have slipped off some more thought.
Yeah, he's going to try to make the pass and fake the pass and then take it back up.
He lost his balance and came down kind of on that left ankle.
They have stepped on a foot and that hurts.
Great camera work there, guys.
So a little twisted ankle by Thomas Barnes but keep him in there.
Only a junior and he has made a difference in this second half 11 point game Thomas here trying to get back into the same double on a 15 to 2 off and that's the way you do it here and go for a walk Yeah couple to feed right after he caught it Good call by the official as we mentioned first half 11 point lead in the game like this isn't really that much when you're up and down and getting a lot of possession 330 left to go in this second half third quarter total action nicely removed.
Doesn't get the roll, Captain.
No.
Good.
Well, that was a rough game or home.
Here we go to tell both teams trying to box out good on the boards.
Sometimes though, here when you're an up and down team, this is sometimes tend to break out a little too early.
Instead of checking off your man, Thomasville needs to get a basket here.
And here's Ben got a while still from the outside and you know what another foul and that'll be through four shots for Julius Hall.
Yes.
If you're just joining us live, Darius Hall is a junior, Jamal Moore is a junior.
What averages 21 points?
One average is 20 and they both come off the bench.
What a tune.
There's Thomasville Bulldogs.
It will be next year also six, four and six five respectively.
Dupree Good looking swingman 16 points.
All two boards for Darius Hall who's been following it up and going well As we mentioned below, the 40 years since Dublin has won a boys state title.
Thomas is coming off the big semifinal upset of top seeded East Tall.
Now it's down to single digits.
I was trying to break the pressure and Ben Smith's the guy that can do it.
He's got it on a yo yo.
Well, almost looks like a kick, but double wall possession way outside.
Afternoon.
Nicely done, Chris Wright.
Not a guy you can leave wide open in the corner and all of a sudden we're back up to 12 6350 double long three pointer.
No good ball it goes home and here they're on the brink of that man again.
Who knows how to put well, he knows how to get up there.
Thomas Barnes just said big body between his man and the ball Smart play.
Okay.
What if Thomas Ferrell doesn't score here and Dublin gets another hit?
You might look for another time.
Timeout 14 point game now all that is moot because that guy Jamal Moore is a delightful young player.
He gets an awfully big hook to stop the run.
Tyrone Davis trying to put pressure on Ben Wilson.
He's got a guy that's easy to put pressure on.
Davion Davis slip fast.
So double the possession.
The man looks been hot first, right way outside the goal knocks it down Smith got the rebound control and we talk about it and then the turnover Here we go And it's Aristotle with a great steal and Ben Smith picks his pocket big time jam.
Thank you very much, Jamal Moore.
Let's see if that gives Thomasville a lift.
6454 Well gave their fans a lift.
Fans are going crazy.
Maybe sometimes a dumb can turn around foul outside.
Herb, you're right.
You're right.
Ben Smith, pretty good ball handling.
Let's take a look at the throw down here for back and forth.
It does He wound up in Jamal Moore's hands.
Not bad.
That's a flush.
What do you what do you give him on a scale of 1 to 10?
So about a seven.
But I was about to say Thomasville has got a little bit of a height advantage now with more than Darris Hall and Webb in the game, all about six, four, six, five.
Let's start looking inside a little more.
The last two buckets came in the paint.
I think they can do some damage in there and maybe let some of the threes go and they get back into this game.
13 point game doubling or the lead and there you go Herb good call inside Excellent control Webb And it's a lot tougher to run off that miss to the three point shots to run off for for Dublin Absolutely right sets up the press you're right tight man tonight as always with Thomas going Maroons going against the Irish who are going to hurt on that guy's making a difference Chris Wright that's a pretty finger roll there stays what a second he is having George Gervin like good try still he's still up trying to do too much if you're Jamaal more luxurious haul still plenty of time and 52 seconds remaining in the third down by 13 but in this type of game a couple of ups and downs and three pointers and you're right back in it just like that could have been a three pointer.
So yeah, we'll go to the line.
Miss you too.
They've got two or three inches per man now and height on the inside and they're either going to get a good look or get fouls when they do.
And you're right, they've got over a quarter to come back.
So they don't need to shoot all threes.
The first one is Good by Jamal Moore.
And you're right, Herb, bringing a little size is Coach Clayton Thomas.
Jonathan Walters is a senior only averages four points a game.
But the more importantly he's six four.
And as Howard said, you need some size to keep him off the boards.
49 seconds to go in this third quarter, double a high school basketball championship action Dublin in the wide against Thomasville on the move It's been up and down and there's a bow Wow When was the last time we saw that call 1967.
1967 was the last time we saw that.
That in the three second call or something you never see anymore.
But I wish they would call it a little more.
I think it gives the offensive player too much of an advantage when they let him get away.
Too much of it.
But we'll see if he can take an advantage and bring it up.
The ball is Jamal Moore at the point, big guy, six, five, junior from way outside.
And that's not the shot you want, but that's the rebound you want.
Let's see if they can put it in nice.
Tickle Will.
That was Kevin Brown.
So here we go.
It's a nine point game, just 19 seconds double not going to hold it for the last shot A rather yet pulled back that Ben Smith he is really tough to get in front of him and I'm telling you, he can.
Dixon is fast.
He's tiny and even he can't get in front of Ben Smith while he's dribbling.
Smith is a senior 510 had just 22 points a game and what a season he's had and he controls the tempo they play point guard for somebody at the next level.
There's a steal though, and challenge and let's see if they can take the momentum but more with two with one.
And that is how the third quarter is going, unless they put some more time on the clock.
Let's see how they're going to check with the scoreboard.
I'm going to check with the score table.
And it looks to me like there might have been a couple of seconds left.
But let's see, so far, no time left.
All there are a couple of seconds is enough time for a couple of baskets and put them up on the clock.
So I guess the guy gets a late.
this is interesting.
No time left on the clock.
So there was like a 10th of a second, an awful mark.
That's how hard Jamal Moore saw after three quarter of a double championship.
Double is up on Thomasville 69 to 60.
Fasten your seat.
Go for the fourth quarter.
We're coming back.
And Houston to the sky just like a dragonfly.
And I'd like to suggest to you that inspiration is not something that comes and goes.
This is a whole new look at inspiration.

And Herb White here is one of the big reasons why.
Let's take a look at this sweet senior swing man for doubling Chris right.
And take it to the hoop can bank him from the head of the circle, the threes in the corner and the finger roll as we like to say.
All the right stuff, 18.3 more to us.
Some excellent defense.
Here we go.
Fourth quarter, double AA championship, Dublin keeps the pace going up by nine and to the hole and they all keep possession Great atmosphere and here's to both crowds getting into it while we're at the time between and this is going to be quite a thing Dublin and who else but white to start things off in the fourth quarter now with 20 points down 7160 with seven to jail as we watch the action for our sideline reporter Jrue Holiday.
Jason, what do you got?
Hey Stewart, we're going to take a look at the conditioning of the old Thomasville players.
That's one of the things that Coach Kellogg stressed in the off season.
He believed that if you always do what you've always done, you get the same result.
So they change that conditioning program.
So This is the quarter where he says this is really going to pay off.
So we got a second look to see if Thomasville can keep this case up for court.
And here's a big three quarter deleterious haul and we shall see.
That's what it's going to be about.
Change can double maintain this case.
Well, we'll be interested to see how many timeouts Dublin has left.
I don't think they've used nine.
They use one right.
They're out there.
You see the pull up this hall, another one of those juniors along with Jamaal Morrow.
What a core this team has.
What's going to go the starting lineup Just a junior Mike Reddick, this kid that we like just a junior.
Kelvin Brown Just a junior.
Domo Wolfe, just a sophomore.
That's to take some conditioning eight points down with 715 to play.
So they're going to have to go hard.
There you see some of the terrific crowd here in Macon for those high school championship games.
Both teams saw the Cinderella stories.
Thomasville not ranked.
Dublin hasn't been here, as we mentioned throughout the broadcast in over 40 years.
This right turn it up, taking a little pressure off of home.
If you've got to pick a guy that can handle the ball, that's a good way to break the press.
There's two timeouts, by the way.
Thomas Gray with three sixes, Dublin with just 116 to 20.
And here we go with the big turnover.
Tough pass.
Nice catch for that luxurious.
Darius Hall is a good looking young player.
Yes he is.
And credit Darnell Webb with a couple of blocks inside just a moment ago.
Great pass by Ben Davis.
But right now Webb is able to block both of the shot attempts one at a time.
650 left, eight point lead by double inside.
Thomas goes no good, but you see similar athleticism inside Ghanaweb.
Go the line, shoot a couple notes.
No, they're going to say he hit it, knocked it out, knocked it out and hit that with Darrius Hall three pointer five point game with 636 left This is for two possession games to Chris Wright we'll handle it we'll take the .63 senior Houston's absolutely sensational airball and that's just luck you know that's just that's just tough luck too because Davis all alone it just mixes there and you want to look up the floor to see if he can take off, then secure the pill and sometimes offense picks up the defense.
And there's Thomas.
That team has picked it up defensively.
Five second call but drop the defense.
And here we go then.
Davis can't believe it.
I thought it was a little quick as well.
Nevertheless, it's in the books but Darrius Hall seven for 13 from three point line and there is a big shot Darnell Webb first time we've seen him at the line when shot here will freeze him again three horribly resetting this Thomasville team is not out of it and Gerald brought up a good point that Colin Powell has said about his kids.
You know what?
We're gonna have to wait to the fourth quarter and it might just happen.
I haven't seen this.
First of all, I haven't seen this many three pointers shot high school game and certainly I haven't seen this many three pointer shot this low.
I haven't seen any sign of anybody weakening on Dublin.
Let me mention don't miss the GPB original production, The Georgia Aquarium Keepers of the Deep.
It's Tuesday, March 14th at 8 p.m. We'll take you behind the scenes to witness the making of the Georgia Aquarium and beneath the dedicated people who make it all possible, some spectacular footage of some of the most amazing inhabitants of the oceans.
It's exclusive.
It's on GPB.
And let me just tell you one thing.
If you have not been to the Georgia Aquarium, I don't care if you're three years old, 30 years old or 90 years old, go.
It is absolutely spectacular.
Have you seen the mermaid exhibit?
It is really something.
I'm happily married, man.
I have not seen that one.
But thanks for bringing it up here.
We go.
I understood the ball only up by three.
what a shot.
Ben Davis taking it all the way.
Big time.
Drive.
Big time here for the header.
Excuse me, Keeper.
Composer.
If you're trying to score a good pace on offense, look for a good shot.
You don't have to rush it.
That's why I get the ball to.
Why not?
He is sensational.
Jamal Moore inside 7370 from Smith again nice shot up and going to the hoop and Smith now making the difference What a great thing for a coach to have a guy like Ben Smith that can bring it up the floor and take the good shot if it's there.
Well, it's all been about Ben Smith and it's been about Chris likes to double in the second half.
Look at this and that would have been a shot Paul takes it was a little short right now Ben Smith on the right thing Calm down Slow it down.
Let's get a good one, guys.
Spreading it out a little.
Is this double team almost, almost.
Look at the four corners, but not quite to Ben Smith looking inside.
That's the combination, right?
That's the way that it's a seven point game.
All of a sudden I get the block and it's a good call.
It is.
So Jamal Moore will go to the line almost a must score time down the floor for Thomas bill in that possession good pass there's right inside good body control nice looks uses his body and finishes and do we expect to see double and hold it out going to that four pointer like all offense the rest of the way.
Well I think they're going to spread the floor but they're going to still look to score.
I don't think you want to take your team completely out of rhythm.
And again, they have a guy like Ben Davis out there.
There have been Smith to control the ball so well.
And if somebody does spring open, he's going to get it to him.
Jamal Moore with his 18th out of the game.
Look, the Thomas build up the full court pressure here and that's mentioned off and made basket sets up your press for their pressing all over the floor But somebody forgot to tell Ben Smith inside and Nelson that he's done the damage.
Thomas Barnes with those legs or Ben Smith has either scored himself a pass off virtually every basket for doubling in the last 5 minutes.
And Jamal Moore is just taking things into his own hands and taking the hood, saying, Get to the ball, boys.
I'm going to hold throughout this year, 79, 72, less than 4 minutes left in both these teams season.
Who will win the state championship?
Couple of big charity tosses here kind role.
It does get more and more good looking young player Darius all 012 punch I believe I try to double team Ben Smith and not let him get the ball on the inbounds pass.
He's got to keep it out of his hands.
He just does too many good when he gets it.
Let's see if it happens and nope, not yet.
Ben Smith controlling in court.
Crusher and a foul.
Well he's got such a great stop and go dribble really does guards the ball with his body protects it and Ken Smith over there is as quick as a net and he can't stay with him could come down to some big free throws for double them because they will be when the ball is fairly soon you're going to have to make they're going to follow him.
Still a 5.4 games a year ago, John.
It's been intensely that has been the winning combination.
Smith to right now Thomas Mills missed a defensive assignment in that spot last three times down the floor and there's a turnover and that one hurts.
And maybe, just maybe, some of this you're starting to show maybe on this Thomasville Tandy chassis, no sign of fatigue in Dublin yet, though, that's for sure.
Ben Smith as always controlling things for the arc.
And if anybody was going to get tired for Devin, the big Ben Smith, he has worked his tail off every time he brought the ball up the floor.
There's been pressure on him and he's gotten the job done.
Ben Smith, a 73% shooter from the foul line, and he's going to be the guy that's going to take the majority of them, him and Wright, because They're handling itself, as we mentioned, some awfully big free throws from here on out on 18 points for Ben Smith, just under his average of 22.
Well, Thomas Will needs to score.
No time to go down and throw up a bad shot, though.
Look for the good shot.
If it's so thin on the three, take that or get to lead and be good In this situation.
You still got 316 to play clutch Dublin hoping that they're going to have their first boy starter in over 40 years.
It's still just over 3 minutes to go long that three pointer no good and as we mentioned, not exactly the shot you want to take and the ball is going to get that shot with a few more passes and maybe gotten a little.
So.
foul of the route.
Jamaal Moore was out and only saw the basket ready to jam.
Well, now Thomasville is going to find themselves in a position where they have to go down and scoring and if they miss, they're going to have to start fouling.
JOHNSON Forget a couple more games coming up.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to that.
Dunwoody game just looks like they're going to number one team, number two team and Avondale against Hephzibah Hephzibah.
I had a tough time thinking of the free throw.
Does have words just like to say I'm glad we always I think the last time I did these games, we got to the final game two in West Lake against Dudley Corbin.
I will bring all that action and that will be the final game of this year's state finals.
8574.
Dublin started the taste of just a little bit.
Nice move to the hole before that was Sweet by Jamal Moore.
What a big time player.
What a big time player could use.
Win the last time down the floor instead of the long three airball.
Little bit of a Earl Monroe spin to the hoop, then listed as a wing I think heard with a little bit of work.
He could be a two guard easily at the next level.
Yeah.
And don't forget both of the top scorers for Thomasville coming back next year.
And so often you see a team finishes a run up in the state tournament one year and come back.
We just saw Norcross do that the other night.
They had they had lost to Wheeler the year before, dedicated the whole season to getting back to the championship game and they took it.
Now the situation Dublin foul will be going to the foul line for the one on one so foul shots as we mentioned very big done down the stretch.
Well this game more action coming and let me mention also it's viewers like you that help make great local programs like these high school basketball championships possible.

Well, it's a three possession game now, but if Dublin hits a free throw, it'll be a fourth and there's the foul.
And we're going to see Ben Smith at the line an awful lot in this last 238.
If he makes both of these, Thomas may be in the position where they have to shoot the three.
If it doesn't, they can still come guard down and get it two and then foul again on the inbounds.
Smith That's been good and he's been clutch.
And if my memory serves me correctly, this will put him at, I think, 22 points, I'm not sure, but that's his average.
So he'll be very close if not out.
And what a sensational game has played.
Mr. White has tried to make a difference down the stretch.
I bet he's got ten assists to go with that story tomorrow.
MOORE And the ball's in his hands.
He's just going to take it to the hoop, I'll tell you that right now and try to get fouled.
And he does.
And that's what you're going to see the rest of this game.
Just go to your side, give him the ball and try to make a play.
Well, they can't afford to trade two free throws down to three.
So from here on out.
So he's got to turn his south.
They're probably going to have to shoot the three.
This one is good.
But Jamal Moore averages 20 points a game and 12 rebounds.
That's off the bench.
I got a feeling he'll be a starter next year.
I think so.
Are you talking about the Hawks are here and no good lately.
they hit the ball.
Wow.
Great opportunity.
Jonathan Walters, the big guy with a big rebound.
He's just been brought in and there's that man again controlling the tempo and Smith And let's see if it's a jump ball that's possession Eric Gordon Thomas Wilson had a chance to dig into this lead That's all right The senior still made the right play back to that.
And he didn't try to throw a desperation pass even though he knew it was going to be tied up.
It's a lot better to have it tied up than to throw a bad pass and have it converted immediately into a basket.
Look for Jamal more, spread it out and go right to the hoop.
Three pointer.
I'm wrong up and no good off the wall.
And there's that man again.
This time off the boards and look out and wide open.
Lay up.
Could be a jumper right here it is.
And that could be good night.
Exclamation point 3977.
Dublin can feel it.
Their fans can 40 long years playing good defense up good quality There he is ball Stranger things have happened 142 is a lifetime in this game.
Let's take another look at this one.
Chris Wright going in for the emphatic jam but the Darrius haul comes back down, hits the three and now still a three possession games Do Thomasville Central really needs a steal or a turnover here that would be huge.
Ben Smith has been the guy that's been single covered and it's awfully tough.
Davis has tried to cover him, but it's almost impossible to cover a guy that quick and once he gets the ball in his hands, that's about it.
Look at this form.
By late Darius Hall, nothing but the bottom.
He says, I have been Coach Kelly.
I might have thought about bringing another man out.
Try to get Ben Smith to give that ball up, maybe double teaming him out somewhere around the head of Circle.
Just get it out of his hands because he's he's a scorer.
Coach Kellogg.
Yeah.
Coach Kelly Scuse me because Smith has either scored himself or passed off virtually every basket in this quarter for Dublin.
Just put on a heck of a show.
There's a lot of mid-majors out there.
I'd love to have that young man running the point for him.
Tough.
And here we go.
And there you go.
You are right, Herb, the double team, the man off the ball on the double team, but he's just too quick.
Gets it down.
And I'm guessing Dobyns to pull it out and try to soak this thing away.
And now it comes down to a foul shooting contest to Roy Stuckey.
You'll have an opportunity to go up and Dublin played like this the team they are with experience I mean a lot of seniors on this ballclub and they just refuse to be rattled by Thomas Bill's pressure Stuckey a 65% shooter from the free throw line.
Let's see what happens at the no good 135 left It's a nine point game coach Kentucky coach Thomas looking on so one of those get that's big 4.4 possession game now Jamal Moore just trying to make it happen right outside It's up and look good from here but it wasn't fast Scott Just a little short Moore trying to reel in deal no foul called and Dublin has got this ball or maybe have another lay up Thomas Ball's no good but a foul that's the right play take it on in the basket They're big and strong as he is and he's going to get the two free throws and two more free throws.
And this one is just about overstatement.
Now, are you serious?
You remember when Dublin won their last high school championship?
Who are you playing, man?
I think I would have been 65 or no earlier.
65 from.
I see what you are from.
I sit here with 66, but we didn't get down this far.
But I believe there might have been a kid from Dublin on the South all star team.
No good from the line, but it might be a moot point.
9180 Dublin away, 113 away.
Their championship.
Thomas the good looking young team all the way to the hut not starved that much not to be more Taj to put it back in Dublin controls and that is good What a game for Ben Smith.
yeah he's my MVP, no doubt about it.
Take a look at this.
Thomas will team with Coach Kellogg.
Young men, I have a feeling you shall return 24 points, five assists for a senior who has played a succession of floor games.
But you have to feel good for Dublin in the sense that you've got four seniors starting and one junior and you like to see those seniors go out with the state championship for sure.
And Thomasville is going to have their shots at it in the future.
Dublin, a team that has played together summer and during the regular season for an awfully long time and it showed more in control it to the head.
You look at one of the best players in the state only a junior rebound by right and he'll go to the foul line.
You know the fun part about doing these games certainly with some of the troops returning as you hear the Dublin crowd absolutely going crazy.
And why not?
They've waited an awfully long time just to see these kids mature juniors come back as seniors and all and more.
These kids will be back to play for another championship.
I think they will stay close.
But this was a mature Dublin team.
Yes, it was.
And St Patrick's Day will be kind of a letdown for the Irish after one might just be.
That's about the only thing the White House said to him.
Well, Coach Kellogg, let's hope that what he did for a beer is hall the discipline instilled in the young man is going to pay off because he's going to have a heck of a college career in front of him.
50 seconds to go.
94, 80.
Nothing to be ashamed of if you are a leader of the Bulldogs from Thomas Cook, not a steal.
And we're going to get a little hot.
Thomas will be unranked.
It came in on Red beat top seed and he saw 85 to 74.
So they beat the number one team in Double-A basketball.
All first ones did.
And even though you got a 13 point lead now and only 41 seconds to play, you don't want to stop that clock with a foul if you're, you know, spread it out.
Don't even if you have a lay up, you might even want to pull it out and step.
We'll go to the foul line again.
Nothing like the luck of the Irish, but what had nothing to do with it.
This was a good, well-balanced team that's about goes against Avondale.
That's coming up right after our Game Girl triple play action on that for the final game of this year's state championship.
We're coming back.
Join us Westlake against Dunwoody.
Look at that Westlake 32 and it's been done already a couple of times.
One against two.
What a game that should be all coming from right here and make it tough to beat a good team three times in one season.
So they say we'll find out.
They said, stick around.
And good to see the Avondale Blue Devils in the winners column in here because there are old arch rivals from Decatur High had many a bitter struggle with those guys and gals.
Great tradition at that school.
All but the final score at this point.
More to a hoop gets another one in time out.
Coach Kellogg trying to find some magic.
But with 32 seconds left and a 12 point lead, the magical season for Thomas Earl has run out this is what we expected.
This is one of the more entertaining games you will ever see.
It's just been a great ball game and Dublin hasn't looked back.
They had 26 at the end of the first quarter and boy, they got 96 now.
So they haven't slowed the pace at all.
And Thomasville Central, one of their, you know, philosophies is try to wear the other team down but they certainly couldn't do and Dublin has not played a lot of players tonight as you had mentioned, Wright, Smith, Stuckey, Johnson, all seniors all been together for an awful long time.
A sea of green in the stands for their Irish.
Something to be proud of and that'll be quite a parade going back down to Dublin this evening from Macon to fire a couple emails off to Coach Felton when I get back, I'll tell you that about Jamaal and more.
He is really an impressive ball player for this Thomasville thing.
Unfinished business.
The t shirt said last year in the quarterfinals couldn't close the deal this year.
Different story.
30 seconds to go, 40 years in history about to be put behind him, spreading it out.
And this is how it might end.
The reason to find Ben Smith holding on, the smile on his face, 40 years of waiting for the state championship.
Listen to this crowd.
6 seconds inside as he shut it down, debuted.
It was your state, Joe Miller, High School basketball champs beating Thomas 9630 for the first state high school championship in 40 years.
And you can tell, let's enjoy.
That's how Ben Smith lives through the pile of players at half court.
Chris Wright was sensational.
Joe Smith, The little guy, helped things together in the middle of that whole thing.
Coach Quinn Thomas saying, Boys, that's the way you do it.
9634, the final Dublin, the high school basketball champs in Double-A.
When we come back, you'll hear from the winning coach right after this.
Jim And I'd like to suggest to you that inspiration is not something that comes and goes.
