Those were games played last night.

IBM, CW, Local 613 Atlanta.
What Cobia State Farm, Dodge and by viewers like you live from the Macon Coliseum.
It's the 2005 G H.S.
Boys Basketball championship featuring the East Tall Vikings and the Greenville Patriots.
And welcome back everybody to Championship weekend I'm Jim Jochem.
The Vikings come in out of region eight the Patriots are a region for the Patriots last one in 1992 East tall though won it back in 2001 two guys to call this game Charles Ward and herb white guys welcome back Jimmy and welcome everybody to courtside Charles ward Herb white with a play call Gerald Olvera out sideline.
We'll get to him in a moment.
Herb tonight's ballgame.
The two championship on the line, Greenville's certainly a surprise at big here the championship but the Vikings of East Hall certainly no surprise to anybody.
Yeah six out of the last seven years, the Vikings have been in the Final Four and they've changed coaches and of course, they changed players and they keep getting back here.
So they're doing something right up there around Lake Lanier and there's Frank Davis, who's averaging 20.1 points a game for them.
He shoots about 47, 48% from three point distance.
So Greenville's really going to have to keep an eye on him, but he still has several really nice three point shooters and they like uptempo Davis here.
They get a lot of help this evening from a good host of players, particularly Langston at the four position.
Coleman starting as well.
Hill will start as the other forward and joining Davis will be Mike Jackson at the guard position for the Vikings of these tall good lineup as you indicated there coach of the Vikings Joe Dix in his first year.
Yeah, we all remember Seth Lanning had so many great years there with the boys and then the girls, of course, the Vikings of these hall tonight against the Patriots of Gladesville Greenville, a surprise to be here.
But Greenville certainly the Patriots a good team to be at the finals tonight.
Yeah Greenville running on emotion of course their coach, Bill Atkins, is retiring after 32 years.
They've had a great run in the tournament.
A lot of people didn't think they were going to get here, but they've beat some good teams.
And LaShawn Watson, one of the main reasons they have gotten so deep into the tournament, almost averaging a double double, he does a lot for these guys and not a lot of size on either team, although Greenville does have six seven player Watson had 23 in the semifinal ballgame.
The rest of the crew that starts with Greenville, Watson at one fourth, Wade at the other.
Patman had a good semifinal ballgame as well for the Patriots, Rosser and Ogletree rounding out the fire for the Patriots.
Greenville The Patriots, of course, coached by Bill Atkins.
As we get set for action here from the Macon Coliseum, let's throw it over to the big announcer for starting lineups, Macon, Georgia, and the Class AA Boys state championship.
Today's game, we have the East Hall Vikings out of Gainesville, Georgia, with a record of 29 wins and one loss First and goal as you visit first on the scoreboard and the Greensboro Patriots out of Greenville, Georgia, the record of 23 wins and eight losses dressed in white as your home team now have your attention for the starting lineups.
First for East Hall at forward number 22, a six foot three senior.
Brody Lightstone at forward number 25, a six foot four.
Senior Kelton Coburn at center number 32, a six foot four sophomore Walter Hill at guard number 12, a five foot eight senior Marquis Jackson at guard number 36 foot two.
Junior Frank Davis.
And he's Hall's head coach, Joseph Dix.
And now for green Ball at forward number ten, a six foot two senior Alex Wade.
At forward number four, a six foot five junior.
LaShawn Watson at center number 24, six foot seven junior.
Jamal Patman at guard number five, a six foot senior, Martellus Rosser at guard number 22, a five foot seven junior.
Jarvis Ogletree and Green Bulls head coach Bill Atkins.
Starting lineups have been introduced here to make them Coliseum.
We're getting set to tip it off in a few moments.
We'll take a break and we'll do that after this.
We are back live at the Macon Coliseum getting set for the Class two championship.
The Vikings of East Hall and the Patriots of Greenville.
Before we tip it off, let's go courtside to on a very Gerald.
Good evening.
Thanks a lot, Charles.
As Herb stated earlier, East Hall likes to play an up tempo style of basketball coach sticks will substitute a lot to keep five freshmen on the floor.
And because of that, they're averaging 92 points per game.
Now, that's exceptional for high school basketball.
And on the other side, for Greenville, they got off to a slow start this season, but they've really come on as of late.
Coach says they were wandering in the wilderness at the start of the season, but now Charles, they're highly focused and they're on a mission.
It looks like they found their way home as well.
Gerald Right here, the final ballgame with a chance for the two a state title.
Well, go ahead.
Hurt Sorry, Go ahead, Charles.
We will get set to tip it off.
Officials Andy Kohut, William West and Andre Stephenson.
TAPS controlled by the Vikings of East Hall.
A lot of emotion on that Patriots side of the Coliseum here, Herb, That's what I was about to mention, trying to reach them to see what happens when reality 29 one team starts playing well against them, See if they can handle that.
You just saw some of that reality there.
Brody legs two going up for the alley oop to the dunk and the Vikings get on the scoreboard first they show a media full court pressure.
Patriots across the time line streaking left side with the lead packed to the answers for the Patriots this ball game would be a little similar to the game we saw in the five eight game in that there'll be a lot of pressure just like we are a football fan these days honking.
But these tiles, a much better shooting team, especially from three point distance than Wheeler, who likes to take it inside and work.
So it'll be how Greenville will can handle that pressure.
Davis just got his first basket of the ballgame.
It was a three pointer from the quarter.
I get three on the shot.
Yes, but the Patriots answering right back inside the paint.
They got the basket and the Vikings leading it by one Jackson down at the block for work on the reverse baskets.
Good spotlights to watch it across the timeline dishes right side pattern but without inside the paint he'll go to the line all actors over a 32 year career Greenville 59% when he winning percentage 4 to 83 wins the 32 year campaign.
Well you know, he's going to have his players practicing for that press for the last day.
And he didn't have a lot of time to prepare.
But after 32 years, he knows a few things.
And so far they've done a good job of getting the ball in the middle of the floor, which is what you want to do against that pressure to give you more options at them from the lead.
Flush with short, I saw Jamal Patton before with the semifinal ballgame showed excellent jumping ability on the inside and also has a long range jumper.
But the biggest player on the court tonight, Charles at six seven there comes Davis at the Vikings.
End of the floor.
Now back up top to Jackson right side.
It's like step three, about one.
So the Patriots with a chance to tie the ballgame Watson out of the corner with a pass to Rosser shots off the mark the rebound clear by likes that Jackson at the block cold in cold weather with the lead for the Vikings.
Greenville back to the other way watch it works across the floor pull it out of bounds out of control Just what is Hollis looking for and just what coach Watkins doesn't want to see?
The fast pace certainly favors the Vikings.
They come back the other way.
Inside the paint, Tolbert goes airborne.
He's fouled Coleman in likes and both take that ball hard to the hoop He's tall good at penetrating and you got to play him because they're such great shooters and then they're good addition to those guys on the baseline.
Tough assignment for the Patriots defensively the Vikings do a lot of things well and although they're both about six, three or four, they can both elevate really well.
Paul Bucks average overseas at ten points convert so the first four relied another factor about the Vikings we see that right now they can substitute very liberally from that which they have very deep.
They just bought it four different players right now.
They bring a lot of players, Charles They fill up the bench every year and they use them over the 40 seconds, just like we talked about last night.
You don't want this team to get on a roll.
You got to calm things down and get the basket here.
It's 11 to 5 and they're poised to try to break it right now.
They drift across the top and watch it left side all the way to the center.
They're so good for Watson and the Patriots.
Pretty floater.
Billy Kolbe now had those for the Vikings edge down in the quarter with the three as we are shot at hard three miles cleared by the Patriots What's it off gives it over over four over three What a couple mistake backside rebound though nicely done by Patrick puts it back is off the mark Taft out of bounds will stay with Greeneville it board by Pacman couldn't get the little jump hook the foul but they'll get the ball back have another shot at it all the inbound play go up to Ogletree watch it on the move that gets his hold the rebound There's the kick back and it's good by Watson.
So watch it Walking hard inside to three zone employed by Granger Brees throws it away inside they get it on the tap at the citadel but the shots off Pat good clears for Brady there to tie it with a basket there awesome handles up top dollar Ogletree awesome follow with the pass shots off the mark by the way but whistles at the side of the ball against three ball nice dish but he charged and you know a feast hall similar to Wheeler Charles but the press is not as they're not as tough a defensive team they don't have the athletes course being from a smaller classification but they want to try to do is get you to hurry up the jury.
The fast pace is their pace.
Davis Across the floor.
Hill Now on the move as Jackson Jackson down low Nice dish delights with that he finishes for the Vikings Watson Walker get inside Got it the packet finishes for the Patriots they go back and forth Jackson Davis three hit the back of the cylinder had a good look at it Put it down Ogletree fouled at the back court Frank Davis got him Charles Greeneville showing a three man front on that zone quite often to try to match up with the three outside shooters of this hall.
And that's why they're getting some easy baskets underneath down there for Coleman and Langston, but aren't allowed onto the floor.
Now for the Patriots, Alex Wade takes a seat like he was a bit of that full court press the entire first quarter as Malone handles it his take it away script by Hill Hill's going to work at it and pick the tough for the Vikings.
They never picked him up after the steal Watson back the other way quickly shot rejected inside allowed with the block up the floor legs to on the move Davis he's five are you're right a moment ago Charles they didn't pick him up Cardinal rule you've got to stop the ball handler on the break and they let him go and he took it in for the dunk.
He did so he's tall.
Will have it there to the floor below, the sophomore coming in and making a spark already for the Vikings right side.
Jackson, guarded by Ogletree Coleman working it inside dumps it down low basket by Lightfoot Nice interior passing by those guys taken by the Patriots and coach Bill Atkins trying to keep this degree bubble close 17 The love of the score right now, three or four remaining first quarter, they've got to maintain their composure in that zone defense if they jump at these hall players or let them beat them off the dribble, then they're going to be in trouble because they're a very, very good passing team, as we've seen.
They get in that lane, they draw the defense to him and dish off for the shot underneath the end.
Greenville's done a good job of handling the pressure.
They've had a couple of turnovers, but basically when they've gotten the ball past half court, they've done a pretty good job of scoring with it.
So the Patriots back on the floor after the timeout.
Sure.
Pressure continues to level the floor by the Vikings.
The Vikings back the other way it out they'll have it Jackson into the fourth court Jackson with a left three point range left it up for them to select the bears the tap back inside by Walter Hill Hill's come off the bench really does a great work for the Vikings early on there he is almost stealing it from the Patriots.
The distance pass all the inside plays for he's tall have great hops Charles Hill up about six eight inches above the rim from the flat for the jump on that one He's tall right now eight of 12 from the floor in this ballgame that's the way they want to start it Great role at about 50% five of ten right here with the jumpers also it's off the mark rebounds cleared Wheeler dealer had a tap and it comes quarter Davis Davis there they cleared it up a bit delay for the Vikings what's a better traffic works it down in the quarter Dallas crossover back the basket for the Patriots they need it that one Greenville a little lucky there almost lost control of it It's tough to beat that pressure off the dribble you want to do it pass and it's at all possible 24 three wheeler had a good look though it doesn't go the bears Davis with the putback he missed out is offering now finally cleared up by the Patriots They come back the other way they got him at the right time to answer to the glass and he got the lead for the Patriots so much action on the other end of the floor.
Grasso able to get back there, just sit down to win all the basketball wholesale substitutions lining up to come in for his call on the sidelines Vikings bounce pass but at the post and they look at the Davis in the corner his shot is short basketball belongs to the Patriots.
Coach Atkins is one of Coach Atkins wanting to keep some subs coming in too.
He knows his five or six can't play against ten or 12 all night long.
So he's probably going to try to use as much bench as he can.
OGLETREE three The back court pressure continues by East Hall all the way to the four look at right quarter to Gray.
He just checked it and whistles out front Cavalier he's the senior from East Tall providing a defense commits to foul try to get your wings using some backdoor plays if at all possible with this kind of man to man pressure if he can get the ball in the middle, have your wingman go to that hoop free throw.
The jumper is patented, but he left it short weight bite for the rebound for the Patriots down low basketball tapped around and a level off the east hall under a minute remains first quick moving first quarter here for the make of coliseum two way championship screams of top nice don't look past it couldn't quite complete it by to get it down low to Coleman hold it a step short on that they must tell the coaches when they come into his hall to interview for the job, Charles said, Hey, we play up tempo here.
You don't play up tempo, don't bother interview.
Absolutely.
OGLETREE Right.
Shot for the Patriots download A to perform nicely that Biologique has patented finishes and the floor we hands is now back across the floor to Havertz Havertz to the center, back to the glass.
If he gets it to fall, what?
Two quickly back the other way for Brady with the jumper did have a look up the speed but boy did he put it down.
Leaves that a fire three pointer missed it right side try to get it out at the buzzer Reaves is one of the three point shooters not able to connect on that one so heavy to the one the Vikings still leading it here 2319 over the patriots a Greenville high school will step aside for time out.
We'll come back to start the second Welcome back, everybody to the Macon Coliseum.
Again, set to start the second quarter class a2a championships these tall leading it right now, 23 to 18 as we get set to start the second, Charles, a very important first quarter for Greenville especially because no matter how much you prepare for a team like East Hall, until you're out there into that game against that type of pressure and speed, you just really can't get an appreciation for it.
So they really withstood the first quarter barrage and they're right in there walking into the front court and as you speak it, they throw it out of bounds.
So to go back to the Vikings of East Hall that first quarter, Brady ranks to the had eight points for East Hall with a shot.
Watson had eight for Greenville.
The leading scores in that first quarter from here Greenville on an eight to Rudd 8 to 2.
But at this point started out and ended at the end of that first quarter still in it right now until the Vikings do something there to the floor.
We'll see you walk it out of the corner, shots off the bar.
Watson clears four court left side over three races with the jumper and that's the Chilcote butler at the school with it and puts it back for the Patriots It's a tip to Valparaiso Greenville sticking with it three two matchup zone inside Wade kept it away over things got it bounce pass up the floater Russell drops in to take the lead and we're tied at 23 Nice defense there got away with a funky little pass You really want to throw the ball out in front of the player streaking down the court there, but he managed to scoop it up and lay it in.
You also had to stop momentarily.
Picked up the package and deliver back the other way another turnover.
And here comes the Patriots overall play right side.
Wait, so the cavalry by quarter watch with the running jumper off the mark Wade clear is back to the cylinder with the hook He got it to fall and Greenville takes the lead earlier this second quarter.
You can see their confidence grow on a couple stolen balls and a couple of converted layups at the block on the court.
It's cold but cold when it finally gets what the fall for the Vikings Ogletree was working on Colbert back out of the three left it short rebound clear by Colbert outlet pass Evans Evans hard to the best of Dallas Coleman to sweep it in for the Vikings roster quickly back to the other way they lost it they got a four on one they threw it right to Ogletree Patriots get a break have it now it's clear to get by the Vikings back over to Greenville Watson hard inside the paint with the runner he missed rebound by Rosser though they're back to the glass they got it to fall Charles you need to catch your breath just kind of nudge me every now and Jackson with it Evans with the jumper that was off the mark cleared by Wade and the Patriots and Green.
Those cats are going to walk it up one time.
Anybody get their second win travel called on the play watch try to make it happen inside the paint Take it.
I see one of them one of those flushes we see on the fast break here on the follow.
Nicely done.
You better get a body in front of those three guys on the front line for He's tall.
They're going to flush it by kicks, kicking it out of the corner.
He is the three front of the Seminoles.
The rebound comes clear.
Vikings have another look.
It's Wheeler again.
This time for Pittsburgh.
This time it's an airborne.
Ogletree looks at the top line.
They'll get it for the travel he got a man to pass who would have been better advised to give it up, trying to beat two men off the dribble and lost his balance field goals.
At this point, he's talked 12 of 25 Patriots, 13 of 20.
And I don't know how much punishment Ogletree is probably going to have to go about 32.
Looks like he's the only guy they got that can handle that pressure, Charles.
And it's going to be sure, very difficult.
He's going to need to conserve as much of his energy as he can.
Certainly, the depth factor favors the Vikings.
If they run that press all the all game long and to wear it out.
This championship game can also be viewed live on the GPB internet site around the world at WW w dot GB dot org.
Just follow the links to connect to the game and every game will also be archived at available later the website as well.
That's WW w dot GB dot org Reeves far side of the floor will about it for the Vikings Vikings why the 2000 33a title and why the two a title in 2001.
So it really doesn't matter about the classification Vikings just get it done Jackson and we were up top Wheeler works a power loader easy stuck behind the defense and that's easy led the other way to the patriots go for the glass shot was rejected Ross put it up but there's the follow inside the paint the patriots answer with the basket pass it to the four wheeler but throw it out of bounds so the patriots with a chance to take lead Walter Hill can really elevate in a hurry if that blocked shot was put over the basket.
There is a pressure herb you were talking about.
They got him four the 5 seconds.
They were trying to work it into the corner to Ogletree.
But when that wasn't available, 5 seconds.
Call Vikings have it quickly for three.
Yes, he's this one of that spot up.
Shooter's got the three there.
Patriots back inside the paint.
They give it to Watson these five to go to their eyes Smart play by Watson it stayed under control news had the man up there and drew the foul and really that's either I think that's the second three pointer for East Hall really hasn't hurt him much with the three pointer yet watch what's in here Nice job.
Still got the shot up for both free throws Watson with 23 pointer that semifinal ballgame at 21 Little wild three against East Lawrence tonight 11 points five rebounds thus far that first half for Watson Vikings lead towns wide it Wheeler down at the block Look at Russell on the play.
Walter Hill had created some separation before the shot You know a lot of times you start thinking they used to have the all winners tournament all the winners of the classifications would play after the regular season was over.
It's probably been 12, 15 years since they had that.
But you see a team like Wheeler, a team like East Hall, and you just think of the possibilities of the matchups, what kind of ball game that would be.
They got very similar styles or question about it, but we've got a great match up here.
Certainly with Greenville hanging right in there, only one point down Vikings about it in the quarter.
They kick it Jackson with the jumper and he got the police under the ball.
Well that's something Coach Atkins doesn't want to see start to begin as those three pointers raining.
It's one thing to have the dunks but an extra point from three point land really hurts pressure for Fargo if you take all that we can see if he's behind the line or not from that angle.
I think that's what they're talking about.
Now, of course, we've got two different three point lines going around the court.
You're framing lawyers, sharp statements, shaking his head no, with the court putting his face on the line.
Let's take one more look and see if we can tell where the wide angle shot.
I see the feet there.
The right would seem to be inside that circle.
Well, I think the inside point, yes.
The other one is visually, that was behind the mark there.
I think the other must be the international three point line, because three point in high school in college is the same distance.
I assume that's an international.
I believe they have a lot they have a some type of pro league plays in here.
Maybe that's what the other line for.
Yes, they do some minor league professional league.
I think there's a making team actually plays in that league because that's not the three point distance in the NBA there.
So it's something in between.
Okay.
Just trying to fill it.
I think we've exhausted that.
What happened?
Macon glaze, there we go.
That's the team that uses the court some of the time.
And that's why that other three point line out there, what would you do it I Frank I think we got to have a lot of basketball belongs to the Patriots these tall leads that 3530 was only three hit the back court at is taken away by Davis Davis got the lay wood and he drew the foul trouble with his the foul there he knew the Davis was going to get the bucket there wasn't much he could do about it.
Should've just backed off again over he's a guy they've got to have out there can't have him in foul trouble so the jaguar Frank Davis will go to the lob.
You see players do that.
So very often when they make a mistake, they turn around and try to make up for it right away and usually do something dumb.
All right, Davis, seven points, 11 rebounds.
That'll give him eight substitutions coming in for the Vikings, 12 with Cole.
But back on the floor, as is, Brody likes to Watson working it up the floor it's taken away by the Vikings that tapped away and out of bounds.
It will stay with the Patriots They got a break there Greenville had a man open for the dunk or the layup couldn't get it to him was an active hands of the Utah Vikings swatted away Wade out front with the pass to below the body dish it down a lot of the load but he got the basket Good work on the inside by Watson no look pass result to the basket Davis has it kicked out of bounds by Rosser look the old out front with the pass to Jackson 315 rib aides first half he audibles it's lights come back out to Davis to get it in the quarter passes made it and they're about basketball belongs to the patriots it's like the Vikings got the bad call their favorite came off the green valley Patten foot but they're not going to call it and green will take it in.
So watch it across the top line.
Good defensive work by the Vikings out front.
Ogletree struggling with that pressure, the trap that's a lot of the play likes that got a patient on it Tibet's the foul let's see Greenville get somebody up towards the head of the circle will trade somebody that outlet pass to and they can there's two and three guys out there trying to double and triple team them when he's out front Great works at right side try to force the pass inside in traffic and the Vikings take it away Jackson puts it to the floor tore down a Davis for three Davis puts it back second three pointer with the great steal of the pass Wheeler fires a three his shots off the Wade clear to the Patriots They come back the other way they throw it out of bounds That's too bad pass in a row for Wade He's working hard getting on the board.
Got to resist that impulse to try to get the cheap basket against these hall.
That's what they're inviting you to do.
That press by the Vikings really showing itself against the Patriots.
Davis from way down the number three for the Vikings.
Well, he's got that classic jump shot form and he's a 49% 40% three point shooter.
And you can see why I warned you about this kid before we hit the air.
He's a fierce shooter.
He gets up quick, gets a little elevation on that jump shot, too.
It's about six one or two, just a junior Patriots try by the basketball tapped out of bounds by the Vikings.
Coach Adkins frantic to get his guys back in this game double digit 11 points He wants to close that gap before halftime.
I certainly don't want to see it grow any larger than this.
Hello to it bowed.
It does So Watson.
What's it left side to the glass left at short three miles cleared by likes to pick up the floor with the pass Jackson down at the block.
Nicely done Russell on the Play Hill was fouled inside the paint by Wade.
He got his money's worth on that foul Charles the official looked like he thought for a minute about calling a flagrant foul but could a very well then what I would like he's going to stay in the game.
I thought for a moment he was going out.
Looks like he's losing his temper just a little bit.
Needs to calm down out front.
Davis with the basketball 43 ball kicks it in the quarter instead of the third.
It's lights.
The lights go to the glass on top.
The block comes away of Davis.
Davis kicks it back out front Wheeler for three shot at short as well Basketball to the Patriots right Hill is really active under that basket for he's tall he gets a hand on just about everything that comes off the rack up Largest lead of the game thus far for the Vikings over three across the top line out out of the block Wade and I got a little shot of the call, tried to give the little head fake and shuffled his feet.
Jackson quickly back the other way of Davis.
Ogletree tried for the script.
They tie it up out front.
He's tall, keeps it Jackson on the move inside the paint out out of the quarter for three.
This would show it again, but it took it out and he's tall comes away with it down low Tennessee parks the junior for the Patriots commits the foul Barnes came down with the rebound Charles but he let he's tall player get the ball Brody Langston took it away from him and he got frustrated and committed the foul.
You can see some frustration coming out.
DAVIS And he's also still extremely frustrated and agitated.
He's still just relentless.
The deficit of the basketball likes that other night, eight points, three rebounds.
But you have to keep your composure against a team like this.
That's exactly what they're looking to do.
Take you out of your rhythm, take you out of your normal game.
Wait for that 42 points in the semifinal ballgame.
It's W this is there at the rally.
What's it up to?
Florida.
Throw it away.
They got a five on to their work on the right side.
Inside the case, Russell on the play.
They're going to get an offensive foul.
They're you know all the foul ad likes them if you have ball handling and pass and weaknesses he might he's tall Wheeler they're going to expose those weaknesses after you know 810 minutes and that's exactly what's happened right now one minute to go in this half so right at the park tackling the foul patriots have it they have some problems getting it back to the floor.
Of course, Ogletree down finally breaks the lob right side that fakes with the jumper and a good look he could put it down.
Waves tips off about how Reeves gets the rebound.
He's fouled out Look at Davis missed step and just went over and hammered the east Tall player in his second.
So Kevin Reaves will go to the line and Alex Wade takes a seat a great ball been calling him Davis actually it is what excuse me and the coach is going to have some words with him going to settle about that too.
Valuable player inside for him to be in foul trouble, get thrown out of this ballgame.
Leads rattles the first good for the Vikings leave now 4533.
These are hood is a terrible thing Charles strikes every now and then you wouldn't know about that you're still young.
I do know about that watching what the run it out what's good Watson and that's a second floater he can maintain his body control and take it on the fly either side.
Right side.
He works at the edge now Reaves squares a three.
Yes, he's another one of the spot up shooters for the Vikings at the sideline.
Basketball belongs to the Vikings.
Ogletree lost it, died seconds from AIDS.
First half Vikings tried to finish it all the up with a basket.
Hold the left side.
He works a bounce pass in the quarter.
Evans with the jumper left a chance as we've seen it look back and it won't fall for the Vikings but everything else did fall well for that in this first half.
They lead at 43rd, 35.
At the break, Head Coach Dick's got to be real pleased with where they are right now.
Herb I would think so.
Let's pick that up.
Gerald Oliver is standing by.
We'll see if in fact he is.
Gerald Thanks a lot.
Charles right here with Coach Dick.
Talk about the play your team in the first half.
We had a great tempo defense was good to us.
Our are able to come up with some sales and were able to capitalize on some of them.
Now this is your first time here, but you act like you've been here before.
Well, we have been.
I've been here five times as an assistant coach, so I kind of got an idea of what it's like.
So just trying to get them to play.
Well, good luck in the second half.
Coach, back over to you, Charles.
Thank you.
Gerald Hurt.
We finally got a coach that's satisfied with his first half play with a lead.
And I Coach Dick's five years as an assistant here.
You can see why he's maintained these titles type of play.
We are at the intervention now 40.
935 Vikings leading the Patriots will step aside for time out breaking the halftime show.
After that, And welcome back to the Macon Coliseum halftime of the boys Double-A championship game East tall leading Greenville 49 to 35 on the floor right now are the girls that I'll be just participating in the three AA championship coming up next here on GPB that's Kendrick and Hephzibah.
Now let's go courtside to Gerald, Oliver and Gerald.
Thanks a lot, Jim.
Right now I'm here with Dr. William G. Sloan Junior from East Hall, but also with Carol Lane Merriweather.
Superintendent, let's start off with you.
I know you're proud to be here and have Greenville here represent Meriwether County.
Absolutely.
We are thrilled.
They're just my heroes.
Talk about this search.
You have on here, the Final Four.
Where'd you get that food?
Well, I got it yesterday at the high school.
We had a little party for them and they wanted to give me a shirt, but I didn't want it unless it was autographed, as you can see on the back.
And that's all the team players and the coach signed my shirt.
So this is now my favorite shirt.
Let's talk about some of the academics.
I understand that you were awarded the 21st Century Community Learning Grant.
Talk about that.
Absolutely.
We were one of the few systems that got awarded that and we were the top scorers in that.
And it has brought in quite a lot of money and we are able to offer afterschool programs for our elementary, middle and high schools to help with the academics and social development as well.
And Dr. Sloan has some great things going on over at East Hall.
Talk about the Governor's Cup that was awarded for safety improvement.
Well, Governor Sonny Perdue last year started a S.A.T.
competition among all the high schools, and we won the triple-A competition.
We were in class triple AA last year, so we had the greatest increase in scores in one year of anybody in class.
So we were really pleased with that.
Now you're veterans when it comes to the championship game.
Talk about the community support all these top community loves as basketball always has, and 40 something years of the school I think has had one losing season in 40 years and you can tell by the crowd here that these types of community really support.
We have five or six high schools in our system and there's some fans from every school here supporting us and we really appreciate that, particularly Johnson.
They played yesterday and we had a lot of our fans supporting them and they have a lot of their fans here for us too, that talk about first year coach Joe Dixon, one of the phenomenal job he's doing.
Coach Dixon been an assistant with us for eight years and our coach retired and so he was a natural choice.
We didn't have the next day after Coach Barry retired and he's done a great job loss, one game 30 and one as a rookie.
I mean, how much better can you get the 30 and one as a rookie?
So all the way he goes almost down.
It's good.
Going back over to you, Miss Lane.
I know that you are you excited to be here and you're looking forward to a lot of things going forward in the future.
Positive for Meriwether.
Yes, we are.
And I would be remiss did not mention our coach, Bill Atkins, who has coached at the same high school for 32 years, and this is his last year.
He's retiring so he can see his daughter play some basketball and he will be greatly, greatly missed.
Well, thanks a lot, Mrs. Lane.
Also, Dr. Sloane, we appreciate you being here and your time and congratulations and and good luck in the second half.
Back over to you, Jim, I Thanks, Gerald.
Always good to hear from the principals as they support their teams here at the championship games.
Hi.
We throw it back courtside to Charles Ward and the elevator from Decatur, Herb White.
Hello, guys.
And thanks, Jeb.
Welcome back.
At Courtside.
Herb first half really favored the Vikings of East Hall.
Every three going their way Patriots get up to really do some work in that locker room that changed the sequence sequences when things are right now yeah Coach Atkinson's really got to work on the mindset because you could see the frustration on the Greenville players in the last few minutes of that second first half.
They were really frustrated and they made several turnovers right towards the end of the half.
First half highlights of this two championship things got started airborne as Brodie Lays that got the first two of the ballgame via the dunk for the Vikings in the East Hall.
And then Frank Davis, the sharpshooter from outside, got his first three pointer of the ballgame with that one from the corner back the other way with the shot.
Watson trying to answer for the Patriots.
They're inside the paint doing the good work.
It comes back again, this time on the pass and he got it down low with the for the finish for the patriots but most of the work on the offensive end for the Vikings Pat little correction Langston what's again inside for the Vikings you see some of the defense of the Vikings as they come back the other way.
Walter Hill just off the bench with that steal and the dunk for the Vikings got his first two of the ballgame and the play continues on the backside for good defensive work.
Walter Hill again this time with the block.
That block led to that dunk by Joe Flacco for the Vikings that first half Vikings leading at 4935.
Herb, let's take a look at the stats.
Yeah, a little bit of a surprise Greenville shooting, 57%, but they probably didn't have near as many field goal attempts.
Three point shots nine for Greenville and pretty good shooting on the three pointers by his tall as they warmed up towards the end of the half both teams shooting their free throw.
Well not too big of a rebound margin but again the turnovers just like we saw in that Wheeler game yesterday, the pressure by East Hall creating a lot of turnovers and that creates points because they score off those turnovers and you see it right there, 13 points off turnovers First, all last two categories telling the story here.
This first half, 49, 35 Vikings leading again, will step aside for a timeout.
We'll be back with more for the break at Coliseum.
Mac.
Back at Coliseum, we'll go courtside with Gerald Oliveira's, head coach Atkins.
Gerald, thanks a lot.
Charles Heath Hall was able to capitalize off the turnovers in the first half.
Did you talk about that with your team?
you better believe that we've done a good job of hurting ourselves just as much as they've done a good job of getting after us.
We're going to have to clean up the mistakes if we're going to have a chance coming back in this ballgame.
How about the simple tempo of this game?
Well, it's nothing different than we were expecting.
It was you know, we know that they're going to be up and down.
We're an up and down ball team.
We're just not as deep as they are.
Scramble okay.
Well, thanks a lot, coach, and good luck in the second half.
Back over to you, Charles.
Thanks, Gerald.
Getting set to start this third quarter.
First half action, Frank Davis with 14 points for the Vikings kid Kevin Reaves came off the bench, second highest scorer for the Vikings with ten points in that first half for the Patriots, Rashard Watson had 14 and Jamal Patrick with dive an important point in first 2 minutes there you see the points leaders for East Hall Brees Davis up top lights them had eight Colbert with eight as well Vikings their end of the floor whistles at the baseline 14 point difference right now Charles and you really got to try to cut into that in these first few minutes because if it expands much further it's going to be extremely difficult for you to hold or for Greeneville to make a run.
Those first half stats, those turnovers really telling the story as to why there's that differential.
Also the three point shooting by the Vikings late that second half or the first day, second quarter of that first half, what are they the difference as well?
Patriots with the basketball.
look, we're out front.
This is away from the basketball player They caught the hill for holding in the paint Patriot point leaders at that first half Watson with the 14 Pat but had bad at Martellus Rosser he finished with eight in the first half Watson on the move now gives it up the Patriots shot rejected inside the paper Blakeslee over to Davis Davis on the move all the way to the glass It'll stay with the Vikings they're to the floor Davis showing he's not just a three point specialist he can put that ball on the floor especially if you run at him when he's looks like he's going to take the jumper alley oop inside and 2 to 4 Culver but it comes clear to Hill Hill had a stripped away over here come the Patriots Prosser up top and it's taken away by Coleman and the Vikings and satellite still wasn't on the play He's told us just scrum the whole practice even just throwing the ball on the floor for about 30 or 45 minutes every day and just scramble for it because it's amazing how they come up with the loose ball time after time after time.
They're just relentless controlled chaos.
They sure make it work for them.
DAVIS Behind the ARC fires a three.
This was a hard rebound play by Ogletree.
He falls to the surface now.
Wade dives after it, whistle all the play, get it by the travel violation.
Wade continues to be the angry young man, but he's a hustling rascal and he's come up with a lot of balls and not kept him.
And that's really frustrating for him.
Vikings out front today, Davis now, Jackson up top inside the Paper Hill.
He'll throw it away will try to get it over to Davis Rosas got it for the Patriots Will three rookie Jackson right side at the block to Wade Rosser tied up at the corner tapped out of bounds Patriots just could not get into any kind of sequence the here come five fresh players the Vikings.
Coach Dix is working at Brigham Ed at his leisure they are ready.
You heard Coach Atkins refer to that in his comments with Gerald.
They just are about as deep as the Vikings.
What's on the right side?
A running jumper to the glass nicely that by watching Kevin Reed for Randall Wheeler in he's tall number 20 Lee Coleman in Culver fires a three got the big ten he got it he called his number back court pressure edge knocked it out of bounds It'll stay with the Patriots Look at the replay Paul Coleman with the three right off the bench that's the way to get acclimated shot short by the Patriots was cleared of Colbert looked out into the corner this time at the pass leaving up to edge Wade anticipated it stuttered away for the patriots out of all this raza but he kept effective off the bar rebound pat on the backside he missed Wade gets the rebound other side of he's fouled inside the paint get board work that time by Greenville to keep the ball alive That's just what they need patriots working hard no doubt about this we've got the same five guys here in 5 minutes ago playing against five new guys.
It's all Charles That's the problem this season Wade Bob put seven points Football game connects the first two of the line.
So no respect for the Greenville players on that eight Wade Three points five rebounds He's a senior Let's start the second rebound comes Peter Eaves leaves the cold open all the way through to the celebration Got it to fall Nice soft touch all the way It Russell spins it off of course down at the block.
Patrick Pat for the glass mask.
It's good he was fouled Nice work on the break that time and again get the ball over the middle of the floor Gives you two options at least when you make the pass well executed by Greenville that time the ball was first.
Here's the replay.
Bryce dished out a loaf of rattler.
See him making the pass from the foul line right in the middle.
Three point play for the Patriots.
The Vikings back the other way.
Leave it all the way through to the glass.
Really uncontested at what Greenville has abandoned the zone Charles gone man to man and the Vikings have taken advantage of it for a couple of penetrations there's a steal by Evans whistles on the play all the way to his third and East Hall press has really caused for the patriots try to get it up the floor Patriots are really only with one guard thus far we've identified that can handle the basketball and I believe Ogletree just picked up his third foul.
Charles, and he's not backing off.
He could get called right there for the contact.
Bobby We were edge of top two.
Reaves reads the arc he gives the Everton he's out with sharp Wade clears What's it cross We've already lost it for a team for the Vikings out of the quarter they kick it a three yes boy they make you pay for the turnovers that just kills you.
The largest lead of the night for East Tall Rosser fires a three his shots off the mark, a pat there to clean it up to the glass.
He was fouled down low by Reaves the three point they kick it nicely at the corner we were able to square up and drop it.
This third team, he's tall a lot of weapons.
Charles We don't average 92 points a game with just one or two scores.
That's the cure at one for the ladies.
Got the first quarter here to buy more.
What a luxury to have Davis and Jackson back in out front.
Bill back in row.
Langston back and that little with 13 points four rebounds This is of the free throw line stat clears Jackson hurries back over to Davis with three hits off the bench and it picks up right where he left off Rosser back the other way for the Patriots now to the status shot rejected inside by Caldwell has set Davis again on that three point shot just tremendous tremendous stroke and a nine of 21 on three pointers for these Greenville so three points Charles they bestow the inside shot of basketball to the patriots are they take it back to these tall enough there goes Robson heads for the lead for the Patriots Jackson the left side picked up by Ogletree could have picked up his third there is four inside now they hold it back to the quarter to Davis his shots off the bench, a tap inside by Langston that was off.
It's been to go back to the senator Smith calls Good pat the back the other way he's fouled his shot felt good he'll go to the line great finish by the big guy on the run and he got hit pretty good.
Must be a real pleasure for these tall man.
They got those great jump shooters and if they don't have somebody knocking them down, they got those three great sleepers on the board.
Charles And they really only at six, three and six for Langston Hill.
COLEMAN the man, those guys can get up and keep it alive.
They surely have the package.
One, when you get great leaders like that, great athletes, they're not so big they can get out and help you on the press.
They're quick.
They can move and get out on the break.
So you get the best of both worlds with guys who can jump like that.
Pat Verts Tired Out was taken by Coach Atkins at the Patriots cause the Vikings would only walk on what lost over the course of the season and they lost that ballgame early January to Centineo that just been on a roll all year long but not bad defensively either.
They only give up 62 points per ballgame.
Yeah, that's pretty impressive.
When you average a 90, there's a 30 point differential in their defense and offensive statistics.
Take a look at the Vikings, how they got here.
That is championship ball.
Gabe Pepperell They defeated large barge at Carver Atlanta, another large margin greater Atlanta Christian, another large margin and at the semifinals against Dublin 50.
That's pretty impressive.
Charles Coach Atkins for this final campaign with the patriots of Greenville they got here via weds over Pierce County Thomasville decent odds are that Buford in a spirited semifinal contest a couple of nights ago.
Well as we mentioned emotional only carry so far and then you got to pick it up with execution and they haven't been able to do it here for the last quarter and a half.
Greenville Jacks a bounce pass.
Got it down to Davis and it was out of bounds.
Basketball to the Patriots.
Still plenty of time, though, if they can get a little run going.
17 points and 3 minutes left in the third quarter, they walk free.
The front court left side Watson on the Bears.
Watch it to the glass They're going to wave it off Offensive foul lots of was going hard to the glass and they got to pull the files you we're talking about all the weapons of East hall so far by different players have scored for the Vikings there we see the charge down to see who picked that up.
Whoever it was stood their ground, took a good look to 36 remaining in the third grade.
Ball is backed up to half court and Jackson left side beautiful stays mad man Cloverfield a nice deal swipe the took Jackson with the other the paint he lost it literally Jackson swiped it right back Boy it's beautiful quickness on both players in great hands Walter Hill tried to pick it up.
He was standing on the edge about lateral stay with the Patriots, wade out front basketball take it to blossom steal by Jackson Jackson got a follow up dance to pass the dunk the fox held it Kobe that's about a nine and a half on a scale of ten right there Charles with authority way up in the air.
Back the other way.
Rosser for three Rivers Good by Russell Jackson on the weave Davis squares for three got a good look, but he left at short rebound.
Ogletree had the Patriot over to another challenge.
DAVIS To the Senator Rivers off the mark.
But he draws a foul.
Not only does it, they get him for the charge.
Let's watch this dunk from Coleman.
This is pretty impressive.
Wow.
Two, three, three, two for don't want to be standing right under the basket when he comes through with that one that's bringing down the house.
But Greenville answered with a three pointer and it's a 16 point margin.
And at 33 years of age third quarter, it only give you style points and basketball edge at the back ready jumper.
But Cady this day alluded to the fits nicely just couldn't get the shot up Russell for three left it short edge over Wheeler Wheeler left side now kicks it back out Evans with the jumper for three pat to the players The arrow shot give it a go hello that kick it back out to Russell Rosser to the senator nicely that other layup Nice job they do take advantage Cut it to 14 now over to quickly back the other way to Wheeler on the move to the glass he got to lay being about the baseline steal by the Vikings it's cold that had those left side back to edge for three Yes now the turnover another three pointers and another turnover the roster back the other way Vikings have it it here they come they got a five on four right side Colbert kicks it in the quarter now back out to Wheeler Wheeler for three That's a killer cross he get it down to 14 two turnovers two three pointers just murder on you to watch in the paint He'll walk it to the glass and get the lead for the Patriots.
That brings us to the end of an exciting third quarter of basketball, particularly for the Vikings of East Hall.
They extend their lead 7454 over the Patriots.
They step aside for the time out.
We'll come back with a final quarter for the back of the coliseum.
I wish that I could fly to the sky high just like a dragonfly, do a of the trades over the scenes bag live at the Mecum Coliseum.
Final quarter for the two way championship these hall leading Greenville 7454 20 point spread and the Vikings just threatening to make it wider.
They had an excellent third quarter of basketball here in Greenville baby a while before coach Atkins in his guys wants to look on the archives 22 to 6 off turnovers about six or eight of those came right at the end of that third quarter when Greenville had cut that lead down to 410.
You got to know then, hey, let's take it from here on, make sure we get a good shot.
No turnovers.
They turn it over twice and he had six points real quick off of two turnovers about to turn it over here.
The Patriots idle stay with it about there on the floor though right now East Hall 11 of 26 from behind the arc Greenville just one of six for the Vikings Six players have hit three pointers for that in this contest.
Well the one thing going for the Patriots, a team like East Hall is not going to slow it down.
They're going to keep playing right to the end of this game at a fast pace.
So you're going to have the opportunity to get back in the game.
that was a tap at the glass was what he called off the load over the back, 150 yards versus the NBA just all the way to the fourth quarter.
Jackson walks in right side, Davis looking at side now up top two, likes to dribble Coleman out of Davis Davis bounce pass at the block likes to play to the jumper that shook the monstrous putback by Cole.
But that one won't count flower power call the debate prior to it no block out again by anybody from Greenville.
And if you don't block these guys out, they are going to finish with a three game six Vikings in full court pressure.
Take a look at the replay back on the other end of the floor.
Patriots try to fight it up.
The shots off the bar and Jackson Lucky get over nice dish left side Paul there with the stuff Well he didn't need anybody to set him up with that when he took it into his own hands and threw down Watson dishes that low, he tried his own dunk.
Basketball goes out of bounds That will stay with the Patriots there going to floor back one more goaltending but looked like a good block it was incidental contact on the rim He's tall not conceding anything so what role will Adebayo that throw it away It's taken away by Langston Langston watch the show here he gets another dunk Davis runs it down though saves it to the Patriots back court steal by the Vikings Davis working right side in the paint reverse lay it by Davis Somebody hit that ball as it was going up Herb had enough skills to still get it to the senator from the late great shooters always know where the basket is this one rapidly getting away from Greenville Patriots 32 the replay set Davis out.
That ball was loose right there.
He was able to collect it and still get the layup.
Nice head work by the junior He's tall ranked number one all season long out of region eight and they're putting on a good show to tell you why they will raise that with the easy lay it for the Vikings down low There comes Watson left side he kicks it Roscoe the three he missed it capped around by Patrick his shot rejected by Walter Hill Hill just a sophomore but has played phenomenally well tonight for the Vikings there he clears the rebound Jackson all the way through out back to Davis a three yes again beautiful rotation on that ball Just the thing of beauty except if you're on the Greenville bench remember that day, Frank Davis steal by the Vikings.
Here they come.
They got a three on two up the floor Davis Davis took a similar got the lead draws the foul He'll go to the line Can't stop the bleeding now and boy a team like he's tall they smell blood in the water There's the three by Davis Can't give it back out of love You'll hit that one.
All right now back the other way.
Running the floor.
Nice high, Aki.
Glad he'll go to the line.
And the celebration starting at the Vikings sidelines.
A couple of Patriot players looking up at that scoreboard with disbelief in their eyes.
It just shocks you to think a team can score this fast, but they certainly do it.
Davis missed another leg.
Watch the back to the pass.
He gets tries to follow with a dunk.
That's off the mark Davis clear so the Vikings behind the back nice bounce pass at the block try to get it down low two foot left foot but not able to collect it but really impressed with the guards for he's tall Jackson and Davis both great all around players happy out of you download a pat but he's got it for the layup Jags across the hole right side back to Davis for a three this time he's fouled behind the arc he'll go to the line to shoot three Davis just a junior which bodes ill for the opponents of his title next year.
I don't believe the Greenville's had a three pointer tonight Charles and of course they're not a three point shooting team.
They're a transition team.
They have had one three pointer.
Okay.
But I venture to say he's tall.
He's probably had ten as well, so that I'd be safe.
You'd be conservative eight or ten anyhow, Davis saw that I 25 points, two rebounds, throw in some steals and some nice assists.
He's had quite an evening for himself.
Absolutely.
Onto the floor now Tracy Gardner for the Vikings that's the freshman first appearance tonight I believe Coach Dick's got to do some substitutions at the five minute mark Davis converts at the line.
Vikings still did that full court press inside.
It's great for the glass and he got it to fall.
Let's go over to Gerald on of Eric, Gerald and Charles.
We just saw Davis shoot the free throws and he's their leading scorer.
He also was the MVP when played number four, nationally ranked Seton Hall Prep in South Carolina's tournament.
And he has been the MVP for the team all season.
He likes the fires in his old three, only a junior Gerald, but he's certainly one of the players that they this teams a lot relies on and he'll be back next year for the herb so they've got a real bright future with their to the cylinder for the dunk is watch it but he this way tries for the Eric shot they save it back to Watson Ronnie Jumper by want to cut down hard they got away that off pans in the sun they're back in to watch and say hey we're going to lose the ballgame but we're going to post somebody before this game's over.
Both of them going strong to the rack and the last possession post arise.
I like it, but look at the replay pattern of going up strong for the put back.
Of course you cannot touch the ball if it's still inside the cylinder all the way into eternity.
And Watson leapt from about 20 feet out a moment ago and tried to dunk.
Just I don't think he realized how far out he was showing the hops there.
Well, you know, the Greenville players are down.
They gave it all.
They had one to win, one for the coaches.
He was going out after 32 years and made quite a run to get this far in the tournament.
Nobody expected him to.
So we got to really say job well done to them.
Patriots back there to the floor.
Watts fires a low range three and he got it to fall watch it just a junior for the Patriots now he's got a bright future ahead of him all that cuts the margin to 30 right side Reeves sidesteps jump off Reeves Campbell backside rebound to wade outlet pass to break up the floor Pat the ball at the drive and he is fouled so pat but also a juju he had Watson with more time for the Patriots next year Teague with only two seniors has started so they'll have a good chance of regrouping for next year.
Imagine they're going to have quite a few applicants for their coaching position.
Go to whoever takes over is definitely going to have some talent away in there.
Pat Martino tonight, quite a possibility.
We saw three women officials last night of the championships.
Yes, we did.
I believe that was the first time there's ever been all female officiating crew.
So why not only female coach for the men's program?
It's coming.
I know the folks at Tennessee can't wait to see Pat Summitt take over the job right now.
I think they would gladly take that.
The right side is edge of the arc wheeler.
They'll work it up tough through the glass.
Nicely done with the left hand by Wheeler snakes his way in and over the five performance tonight he was good for the Vikings whistle all the other side attempted penetration by the Patriots we'll see which Vikings guilty of the foul.
Charles speaking of coaches retiring, we know Ron Bradley, longtime coach in the Georgia High School Association, one of the all time winningest coach in high school basketball history and truly, truly one of the great gentlemen that I've ever encountered in the coaching profession.
Coach Bradley was coaching at Newton County.
Yes, back when I was playing in high school.
And what I have to say, how far back that was, but several decades.
And he's going to be missed.
And truly a legend in Georgia.
High school coach in circles.
And congratulations also to Coach Watkins has been at it for 32 years and know has influenced a lot of young lives in a positive way to look to your right and just up into the red seats.
Coach Bradley sitting up there.
You have a chance to be acknowledged by this crowd earlier tonight here at the Bacon Coliseum.
And Coach Bradley, not only a coach, but a great basketball fan.
He loves to watch basketball Vikings up top.
They work with the past.
Wise, wise.
This is not a jump shot or able to Bishop wise of the opposite side shots off the block but he will go to the line.
Newton County back in the sixties when Ron Bradley was coaching there amassing one of the all time great records in high school sports, 129 straight home victories back during the sixties.
And yeah, I think they were against some home cooking down there and they beat the Celtics in an exhibition game.
Certainly Coach Bradley, a legend at the high school sports state of Georgia, wise as applied for the Vikings.
The Vikings he got up the fall that's the future of that Vikings probably is just a freshman Patriots now with substitutions there on the floor.
Adrian Smith tried to work at it side dishes just assured Woods he takes two of those Eric basketball over to the Vikings but you just got to give a lot of props to this He's all team as well There's no doubt they are a great championship team.
One lost this year and just dismantled Greenville in this championship game by the AAC.
Sandoval now works at right side that the pass the bishop bishop had a look at the three could put it down but the basketball comes back to seven All right look at the cover and it's off the back.
He shows you what tradition can do in an area like all great basketball for years and years and years and years.
And now from a young fella that I used to coach at Georgia, Julius Brown, who played at East Harlem back in the mid seventies.
And those are great teams back in two.
So that area has been putting out teams for years and years, wise with two points for the Vikings under 2 minutes remaining, he's called back the other way.
It's Bishop with an year.
He's called out as one point away from tip double digit Bishop runs back up the floor with a big smile his face as he gets into the Scorebook you know they had the anticipated but these reserve players to get a lot of play time in this championship ballgame as Woods connects so the three pointer Sandoval picked up the three missed it out.
The shot was fighting for the rebound.
It belong to the Patriots.
Well we got some more great action coming up a little while Charles so stick around three a Carl's advice Look at Coach Dicks at the sideline.
You say goodbye to what, Coach?
After 32 years and now we say hello to a first year coach who comes Ed does what it takes some coaches 32 years plus to get.
That's the state title.
I think we're ought to tell him what his principal said at halftime.
That's only one way you can go from there.
My a little pressure off of it later out front for the Vikings Hey will just run it off Patriots not at any kind of mindset of committing any fouls that started this any more that they have to official doing his best not to call a foul and stop the clock now with a margin like that before during what I call it a five second violation if you don't have it, they won't run it out of style.
Vikings willing to do 90 good 67 over the Patriots of Greenville, the number one ranked team all season long they showed why tonight they were the two way title very very impressive Charles and we haven't seen the last of these all Vikings I've got a feeling no doubt about it perfect perimeter all night long they started out slow but they got it at sea and when they did, they just stretched it stretched that lead resulting in the still to a state championship for the 2005 season.
Congratulations to coach Joe Dixon.
His first year.
He's tall, picking up another state title with these holes.
Looks like they've got about 18 young men dressed out over there and they they probably used about 15 of them in the ballgame, reminiscent of schools like Valdosta football with so many people dress up for the teams because they are so excited at the program.
Gerald, all of our is standing by with coach Joe Dicks.
Gerald Thanks a lot.
Charles Congratulations, Coach Dicks.
What does this mean for you?
I mean, talk about this win.
Our kids just played so well.
I mean, get leads and second half we just control the game.
We did a great job right at the end of a pushing and we started finding each other and it was kind of like a snowball effect.
Guys started knocking in threes and the next thing you know, we had run away with it.
So just a great performance by kids.
They play that way all year.
They'll talk about what it means for you to win this in your first year as a head coach.
Well, I mean, I'm for the kids.
They they responded to me just as they did Coach Vining.
You know, they just decided at the beginning of year they wanted to try to win this thing.
And they talked about it openly wanting to get here.
And it's one thing to talk about it, but it's another thing to actually go through with what you say you're going to do.
And they played that way all year with one purpose trying to get here and to know that today they were just lights out today.
Congratulations, Coach.
Go ahead and enjoy the win.
Back over to you, Charles.
Thank you.
