Hello and welcome to the Macon Coliseum.
We are here for the boys to a final.
The championship between the Laney Wildcats and the Blue Devils of Manchester High School.
My name is Fletcher Proctor alongside Bob Halton, and we've got a great one.
Bob.
Both of these teams coming from opposite sides of the state to compete for this class to a boys title and Laney in particular.
They came all the way from the Augusta area.
Want to tell us a little bit about how they got here on this road to make it.
But anyone their first two games by the same score of 78 to 51 beating Crawford County in Thomasville, then they had a close game against Morgan County, winning 71 to 59, and then they beat Jordan 52 to 44.
And Jordan comes from the same region as Manchester and of course from Manchester.
They can they beat Decatur 7257 and listen to the next couple of scores, East tall, 95 to 76.
Then a totally different game, taking out the number one team in the state, the defending state champions GHC 48 to 46 and in and Thursday night they beat Vidalia coming from behind in that game Fletcher 71 to 62.
Now the lady Wildcats are coached by Jerry Hunter and one of their best players to watch out for.
Tonight, it's going to be Shaquille Cook.
Shaquille Cook wears number four, does the senior forward, and he's the guy to watch out for.
He helped trigger a 13 to 5 run, finished with 22 points in that 5244 victory over Jared and certainly a guy that is one to keep an eye on tonight Chicken Terry is the man that they go to for the Manchester Blue Devils.
He's their leading scorer.
He had 24 points on Thursday night in their victory and he had 12 points to lead the team in the game against GHC, which was their most important win, five foot eight.
This whole team is very small and he kind of minimizes the type of team we're going to see tonight at Manchester and Nicky Noto actually caught up with the coach of the Manchester Blue Devils, Curtis Nobles.
Nikki, I did catch up with Coach Noble.
I asked him if he could describe this year's journey in one word.
What would it be?
Guys?
It's the army, he said.
A dream.
He said, It's a dream come true for me to be back here in the team.
He should be seven.
He also said he has made it his priority to plant a seed and these young men and he has enjoyed watching them grow.
Guys, it's going to be a good game.
I hope you're ready for it.
Thanks, Nikki.
We'll come right back to the Macon Coliseum with your region starting lineups after this.
This is high school basketball in the great GPB.
Good.
This transcript.
Yes, Yes, that is Delaney coach Jerry Hunter and yeah, their coach is in the blue jacket.
Blue jacket, other side of the tunnel.
Older, too.
That's him right there.
You're going to do both great lineups.
Sure.
And just back here at the Macon Coliseum, part of the Macon Cineplex in Macon, Georgia, we are about ready to get things going between Laney and Manchester to decide the boys two way state championship.
But first, let's take a look at our regions director and our region starting lineups.
You've got four Laney, Shaquille Cook, the forward number 15.
Curtis Hightower is only a sophomore.
Glynn Rodriguez a rebounding threat at Dart Jamie West and then Raheem Newton.
A guard wraps up their starting lineup one through five.
Over on the flip side, the Manchester Blue Devils, coached by Curtis Noble.
And that's a shot right there up the Lady Wildcats.
Manchester You've got Terry number three, the senior.
You've got Chris Martin He's five foot eight the junior, Monta Fraser number 20, number 15, Trayvon Lockhart and number 13 Turner is in there.
So you've got Terry Martin, Prater, Lockhart, Turner and Fletcher.
I hope when you notice their the size at the starting lineup, the tallest man starting for them is six foot.
It's six foot tall.
Ariel's five eight, five, nine.
There's their head coach.
That's the head coach, Curtis Noble.
He took them.
They're back now in the playoffs, of course, Day one as Nicky Noto said back in 2007, a state championship.
This is their first time back to the Making Center Flex to compete for a state title.
We're about ready to get things going right now.
Fletcher Proctor, Bob Howard, Bob, any quick thoughts before the opening?
You see Coach Goebel right there.
He's his 12th year at Manchester's.
He's won 250 games and got a chance to talk to him before the game.
A real gentleman as both coaches are some interesting stories about the Illini coach we'll get to in a minute.
All right the jump it's going to be Cook and Lockhart.
Well, the last thing hanging on this is going to be fast pace.
All right.
So getting it is key to smart.
He will bring the ball up.
The court You mentioned that he's being picked up quickly by Newton, going all the way to the basket.
No good tip it around and controlled by the Lady Wildcats.
Laney in the road Dre Manchester in the home blue foul is going to be called it's going to go against let's see number 15 he's going to pick up Trayvon Lockhart is going to pick up the foul, watch him go to the basket and that's going to be going against, like we said, 15 Trayvon Lockhart.
So stepping to the line will be 23.
That's Vin Rodriguez.
Rebounding threat double, double threat misses the first.
Both teams are going to go quite deep.
Manchester will go at least ten deep.
Laney may not quite go that deep, but at the pace they're going to play, you're going to see lots of substitutions and the ball moving up and down the court, just like you saw in the first 17 seconds.
It's going to be like that all night long.
Second shot misses.
But Laney corrals the rebound and setting it up at the top of the key will be Rakeem Newton.
Try to dump it down low, turn around no good tipped around and here comes the Manchester Blue Devils all the way to the basket, putting it up good in the first quarter.
The afternoon score by Damian Turner, the junior guard for the Manchester Blue Devils.
Here's Newton, the senior guard dumping it around.
They try to get it down low to cook and cook loses It steps on the end line.
I believe it's going to be a turnover.
No, it'll stay down there, I should say, with the Wildcats.
We'll see on replay.
There you see they started the play in and and molested to the basket there.
Take the first two points of the game.
Three point attempts fired and connected by number 11.
Jamie West, the senior guard has the first points of the day for the Lady Wildcats goes behind his back before dropping it back out to John Lockhart.
Lockhart from the elbow fires shot no good tipped around and Shaquille Cook corrals the ball up the floor in a hurry.
Bobby, you're right about the pace.
Another three point opportunity up and connects.
Jamie West can hit it from the outside.
He's got six points early on.
Time out on the floor as Laney takes a six point lead with 640 to play in the opening quarter.
Curtis Noble, the head coach, does not like this, but he likes the pace, but he does not want to see the team get set.
He wants to keep the helter skelter action at both ends of the court offensive and defense there.
He's telling his players right now, we've got to play at our pace.
We just have to keep this game a little erratic right now if we can.
All right.
Six two is the score in the first period.
We'll take a quick break.
Be back on the GPB getting ready to inbounds.
It's going to be Manchester.
They inbounds underneath their own basket.
That's Damian Turner getting it inside to Trevon Lockhart before they get it up the floor quickly in a hurry all the way down.
They dump it down low.
No good but the Devils corral, the rebound and they will go back to work resetting the offense back at back at the Macon Coliseum.
Welcome back.
620 to play here in the opening stands at 622 lady on top of Manchester and they will have the ball with the Manchester Blue Devils underneath their own basket here they get into Lockhart Mill, set it up at the top of the key.
That's Chris Martin, the junior point guard, calling out the play, trying to fight to the switch and playing man to man.
Both sides a three pointer tip from the outside, no good, but they get the rebound back.
That shot's no good.
And Shaquille Cook grabs the board quickly.
Off the floor is right here.
Newton for Lane he did not at number so wisely slowed it down.
Now they'll set up their offense looking for a little bit of help is Newton he gets it in the form of Rodriguez pressure's been more extended this time on defense They're trying to reach and keep him from getting in there.
Set offense going high to the basket.
Jamie West again, Jamie West has eight early points here, all eight of his points, in fact, with 537 to play in the opening quarter, it's 8 to 2 ladies, full court pressure.
They break it, break the time line, get it down low on the baseline.
Lockhart looking for a little bit of help stolen away by Laney that's Rodriguez takes it right away we talk about that press.
You want to break the press and score, but they can still always steal the ball in the press that way, too.
And it doesn't end when they get it across half court.
Shaq Cook misses.
But getting the rebound is Rodriguez and they will set things up.
Holding the ball for Laney.
Here's Raheem Newton.
Number five, the senior Rodriguez tries to dump it down low.
No good and it's nearly over an hour set.
Mark Harmon may have had the assist and it was tipped and they'll stay at this end.
Manchester's defense is looked pretty good bar but they just they've given up two three pointers and then a second chance opportunity created by Rodriguez and put home by West and that's how Laney has their 8.8 to 2 lead for both the takeaway the three pointer to keep them out of their half court offense.
They're going to pick them up all over the floor.
Here's another three pointer and he finds the bottom of the net for Jamie West.
He has 11 points early, all 11 and Bob Howard with the save.
When press read the turnover leading to an assist they can get one two.
You see the crowd right there getting amped up.
This is an 11 Laney run.
They were trailing at one point to nothing in Manchester but since then the Wildcats coached by Jerry Hunter, have responded and they're two throw away unforced error right there Turns the ball over now Laney or Manchester has to get their offensive started here they are very quick, very small.
We pointed out in the starting line ups there that they have only one person over six foot.
They're five, eight, five, nine.
But they're very quick and they need to get their offense going.
Here they go right there.
Shaquille Thorpe is actually to flex the shot attempt out of bounds.
It's going to go off with Manchin So Laney wildcat ball little surprise but they're caught up again replay there was nobody from Manchester near that ball It went out of bounds but they call it ladies ball here.
Laney leads 11 to 2 about halfway through the first period.
This is the class to a championship from the Macon Coliseum foul on the floor.
I think they're going to tag number 20 with that great throw the senior forward.
But again, they're trying to pick them up all over the court.
Now.
Let them get in their set of offense it for sure, not get those three pointers that they've carried.
West has buried three of them, two teen fouls for Manchester, since it's on the floor, will be out of bounds right in front of the press table.
You see right there, Curtis Noble, shouting out some defensive assignments for his Blue Devils.
They tried to dump it inside to cook and cook loses it, although it goes off of 13 TURNER But a stay at that on the floor.
Cook is six foot six.
But among the players in the field, he's at least 4 to 5 inches taller than everybody.
And both teams, his own team, including from the free throw line no good to putting it up and in.
Is Rodriguez someone other than West has scored four now the lady Wildcats they have a 13 to 2 lead 1301 rushing down the floor, popping a shot and dropping it as Echols.
Echols had 14 points in that win over Gassy coming off the bench and giving them the spark that they also.
He also gave it by DeLeon coming right back those Jamie guys and Jamie West has things cooking early the senior guard number 11, see him right there on your screen.
He is hot tonight.
So far, 15 to 4 full court pressure.
They break it, they get it.
Over here is again, Echols to downtown.
He's connected five points.
He saw the microwave, if you will, Zach, as the senior.
They dump it down low.
That's cook his first basket a nice Shaquille cook.
He had 22 big points in the semifinal victory over jerk 24 earlier in the tournament as well.
He's their leading go to guy a nice basket quickly down the other end the four kadarius favors the senior number 21 trying to get Manchester back in this they lead by just eight just just one more time with Manchester not having been here for five years.
If they felt just a little bit of tension, this to start this first half, they tipped that ball away.
Getting the rebound though, is Rodriguez halibut, low shot.
They're finally putting it in.
That's two more points for Shaq Cook quickly up the floor and taken away by the lady Wildcats up the court That's Rodriguez off the glass No good foul is going to be called It's on the floor.
Well so far it's been all Laney jumping to a ten point lead scores.
Laney is Knight is up 19 to 9.
You've got Jimmy or Jamie West Here's a senior number 11 to senior and already he has 13 points his team leads 19 to 9 first period action looks back on the great big first quarter action here for the Macon Coliseum Laney up 19 to 9 and it's largely because of that man you see on your screen right there, Jamie West.
Bob, tell us about his first action.
Well, Jamie West has got 13 of the 19 points, most of them from three point range.
Setting up there and hitting the first two threes made them change their offense as well.
Now he takes it to the hole and scores as well.
Once they went out and got him on a three point shot, then he came out and now here's his third one of the night and he's got 13 of the 19 points.
It's been all Jamie West, a six foot senior for the Laney Wildcats.
Yeah, Laney is actually three of four from three point land.
He has all of them eight for 15 from the field so far.
On the flipside, Manchester four of eight one of one from three point land they're trying to get back in this thing.
They currently trailed 19 to 9 with about 2 minutes 42 seconds to go before the end of the first quarter.
So here we go, step in wide.
This is Rodriguez, the senior.
He missed a pair earlier tonight from the free throw straight hands at the knees.
Misses that one as well.
He'll have one more coming after that after the foul.
Manchester hasn't done quite as much changing around.
They brought Echols in and he brought a little bit the spark in those five points.
Let's see what happens now as they play end of the game.
If they can get the come back on another missed free throw so he misses another pair of free throws as much as 14.
If he had made those free throws right.
Manchester, the Blue Devils, they try to work things around, they find Echols.
He's going to launch another three that runs off their first miss from long range of the night.
It looks like the Blue Devils will bring Joseph Campbell, the sophomore in number 42.
He will check in heading to the bench.
Can't see the number.
They're actually going to pull Elk who's all Campbell back So 220 to go in the first.
They quickly get it across trying to stop it west and it's stolen away quickly up ahead is Echols.
He's going to put it up this guy's no good is expecting to get fouled there.
He pulled up just a little short says my bad as he comes back Got to finish those Pletcher Newton number five being guarded by Echols Number five we have a five on five situation before he gives it up to Rodriguez Rodriguez goes hard to the basket the misses.
He's going to go back to the line where he is all over four on the night.
But a chance to redeem that right here with two more Curtis Nobles working.
The referee says he thought they traveled there.
He still working on them as they come to the sideline there.
But they did call the foul instead of the walking.
You see Coach Jerry Hunter right there, the coach, the Lady Wildcats.
His team has a 19 to 9 lead with a shade under 2 minutes to go in the first.
Here's Rodriguez.
You can tell the second left his hands and it didn't even make it to the rim.
Well the Jets talk about Coach Turner.
This is the third time that Laney has been here.
But after the first year, their head coach left and went to Burke County.
So how often is a final four coach come in and get to get to bring his team back two years in his first two years as a head coach?
So he's off to a great start.
Another free throw is coming for Rodriguez, as you see him right there.
He's also the head baseball coach at Fayette.
And he just went into the Hall of Fame.
It is college and both sports misses that one.
And grabbing the rebound is going to be Manchester.
But a tie up is called It's going to alter possession is going to keep it down at that on the floor it'll be gray ball which is Laney ball and looking to trigger it in will be Daniel Harris who's checked into senior guard for the lady Wildcats looking to get in now he finds somebody on the wing gives it over putting it up with a little bit of a teardrop no good and a travel is going to go against Manchester after they get the rebound.
He just can't quite put it on the ground before he shuffles his feet.
Turnover by favors for Manchester.
Right now, all the little things are going wrong for Manchester that big things, just little things missing a layup, getting the ball and having a tie up now that getting the ball and having a jump ball and then losing the ball like that, they're very close, but they just can't get the ball and run with it.
Shaq Cook misses on the rebound.
Taylor had to take it away.
One more example of it.
They will reset things at the top of the key with by Laney point guard number five Raheem Newton tied down the download it cook cook has it taken away here comes Manchester but they finally did get the young sophomore in the game there Campbell checked in now holding the ball at the top of the key is 23 Waller and it ticked up that was 13.
TURNER Actually, Laney substituted more than two, then Manchester beat.
Manchester has fresh players in there right now looking to fire from downtown.
No good getting the rebound, though, as Manchester's going to throw it off of a lady wildcat.
Well, stay Manchester ball.
They've had a little bit of sparks.
The tackles came in the game.
He actually cut down that track, down that long rebound and got it off the opponent's leg.
So they get a fresh chance here at just under a minute to go in the first quarter.
Checking back at his number 15, Trayvon Lockhart, he comes in, they get it down low.
And like you mentioned, Echols doing anything he can, including putting that one up with the left hand that goes off the bench, has seven points for the senior race.
It's an offense.
It's 1911 under 45 to play.
So two guys that start most of the points for each team.
One of the men who scored a bunch is J.B. West.
He had it before he dished it up to Newton.
Newton.
Well, look it fired into the Marines.
Yesterday's turnover and it'll be Manchester ball right in front of their own coach Little bit of a rally here They seemed to stem the tide.
Let's see what happens here.
They need to get a little bit more organized in their offense, though.
Dribble over by Campbell Campbell looking between the legs.
They're leaving him wide open.
If he wants it, he's going to take it shot.
No good tip The Brown couple Illini Wildcats fighting over 12 seconds to go.
We'll see if they try to hold for the final shot.
They will indeed.
6 seconds.
5 seconds.
This is Newton.
He gets a pick.
He's going to try to drive in fires from just inside three point range.
No good.
And that's going to be your score after one.
Laney, thanks in large part to Jamie West, 13 Points has a commanding 1911 lead.
We are going to come back with the second period here at the Making Center flex Macon coliseum.
Jerry Hunter's wildcats on top early.
But you see they're trying to make a comeback or Curtis Nobles West, Manchester Blue Devils.
We'll be right back.
This is high school basketball on GPB Getting ready to start the second quarter here at the Macon Coliseum.
Laney is up 1911 ball.
Something about Manchester's really gotten you interested?
I think Eccles is going to be the person that that leads his team back.
He has seven points off the bench seven of their 13 points.
And I believe that he has been the spark for it so far.
He did spark him the other night against Vidalia as well.
And there you see him right now taking his first shot from the corner and hitting a three, and then you'll hit a couple of shots.
And he also had another breakaway lay up that he just wasn't able to close.
But here he is shooting with the left hand that time and making it to set up the seven points that they had 19 to 13.
As we start 19 to 11, as we start the second quarter.
Fletcher, I expect Manchester to get back in this game.
Yeah, Manchester only shot 38%, five of 13, but Eccles had seven of those points, very big points as his team currently trails by eight.
All right, here comes Manchester.
Martin brings it across the time line being picked up immediately by Newton, stripped away ball on the ground.
A couple of players rolling for it.
Time is asked for and given Curtis Noble's team ask for the timeout early on, but it was to maintain a possession.
Well, stay right here, Bob.
But some interesting numbers to note, Laney for six Rodriguez shot all six of his free throws are all six of Lane's free throws.
He was over six.
Think about what this lead could be if he had connected from the free throw straight and they're eight for 18 from the field.
So there the free throw line has left them a little to be desired.
But no question about it.
I said earlier the a 14 point game, it still be a 14 point game if they making their free throws and sometimes they can come back to watch it when he's clearly been the superior team so far.
But there's just something about the way Manchester is hanging in there that the ball starts dropping.
That's when you could start to see some key time out there.
You hate to see a timeout taken in the first 13 seconds, but they know this first possessions important to start the pace of the second quarter Laney out rebounding Manchester to 12 to 5 early on we knew their height would be an advantage for them.
Absolutely.
But here you've got Martin trying to mix it around, putting it up.
That shot No good by Terry.
Terry has been held scoreless so far.
He was a player that we highlighted before the game is Newt needing to get hot and he was a player also at 24 points in that big win over Vidalia, 71 to 62 just days ago, jumping into the passing lane.
That's Lockhart.
Lockhart's going to go down with the right hand, put it up off the glass.
That's good.
He breaks the scoring drought for his squad.
Two points is 1930, about a minute into the second quarter.
Here's West.
He hasn't touched the ball for a while.
He but he still kept that hat about to say when he's when he's shooting like that.
Let's try to get his the ball in his hands, if ever possible.
If you're Jerry Hunter, he has now 15 points in this contest.
His team leads 2113.
And you're right, he didn't touch the ball there for three or 4 minutes, but he goes picks it right pick ups.
Scott 15 There are 21, as you just said.
Now, Manchester is a team he thought would want a run, run, run, but they're kind of slowing it down a little bit.
Even though they're at a little bit of a size disadvantage.
They know they've got great backcourt play, though, and can get it done from the outside looking for that good shot.
But their coach said we are not a threat.
We are not a half court team and either the offensive or the defensive side and they kind of it through.
They got a little impatient and got the charge.
Bob, here is a foul on Turner.
Tell us what we see.
Well, I just think they they they're not comfortable in the half court offense.
They got a little anxious I think there was pretty close as you and I have had this conversation many times that black versus the charge a very tough call.
But he had his shoulder down and that's what I think made the difference in the offensive foul.
Sometimes they just have to go up.
They have to do the test, as you say.
And those they pick up a little pressure in the back court and it leads to a turnover.
Manchester coming the other way.
They get some numbers playing it up.
Eccles No good getting the rebound.
His teammate though great They're trying to put it up take it away by the Laney Wildcats.
Now they're looking to run Here's west West thought about it's going to take it in with the right hand no good bounces around foul is going to be called on the inside.
I think it's going to go against 23.
They'll tag Rodriguez with the foul to the senior picks up his first I believe West with his 15 points he hasn't missed very often I know that but he missed a layup there and then if the foul goes the other way, come in this way.
Just two team fouls against Laney so far and here comes Manchester.
I actually expect a little higher scoring game than we've had so far.
But you're allowed to turnovers.
You've got when you've got a player such as Jamie West has been so hot, his teams kind of hit a scoring drought there at the second half of the first quarter.
Tried to pick it up a little bit as best they can.
Yeah, they had 19 points with about 43 minutes to go in the quarter.
Now they've only scored one more basket, but Manchester hasn't been able to cut into the lead, moving it around the perimeter at the top of the key.
That's Mark Martin trying to drive in.
He gets hit a little bit and it's going to go against Delaney Wildcats.
So on the floor they'll take it underneath their own basket.
Martin will bring it in any in the first three rounds scored 7878 and 71 Manchester scored 95 points against East.
So they have high powered offenses, but they've both been stymied so far.
And there's a pass all the way in the back court to get it in.
Blaney Two of their last eight, while Manchester two of their last nine.
So both of these teams have scored hits, the breaks offensively and there's been turnovers mixed in between, trying to take it around.
That's going to be Terry.
He can't find the bottom of the basket yet tonight.
He is still scoreless as the senior, their leading scorer this season.
Hey, dump it inside.
That's Shaquille Cook Cook tries to go up there Paul offensive foul on Cook I guess they cleared out with the elbow clutching the score at the end of the quarter was 19 to 9.
Each team has scored one basket.
Now you're going to see them take it low and the elbow get thrown here.
There it is right there.
Great job of replay, little bit of flopping.
Great camera work there.
Thank you very much, guys.
Ball is deflected but tracked down before landing.
He can fumble dribble, fumble but you can't do it the other way and he got away with that trying to go inside is Terry looking for a little bit of help find some in the form of 23 Arthur and Fraser's got his first basket the night 2115 about 440 to go before halftime.
Here's West from the top of the key he was hot early on has missed his last two shots though it looks like Blake just kind of lost their mojo here if you can say that.
That silver platter.
I think their coach is getting very close to calling when they had complete control of this game and now they almost look distracted a little bit.
2117 19 leads Manchester to halfway through the second quarter.
That's a three point attempt fired good rebound though put up and good by Rodriguez Barriga as he missed all those free throws in the opening quarter makes his second field goal of the day thought about it.
They give it to the outside that's Echols looking for a screen balls on the ground tie up is called possession will go to Laney Echols was actually looking for the foul call right there saying hey they must be right there.
All right.
So now they get that time out to the Lady Wildcats.
We'll take a break with them.
It's 2317, Lady on top of Manchester.
We'll be back on GPB.
Second quarter action here.
It's 2317.
Laney on top of Manchester here from the Macon Coliseum.
Take a trip around our great state of Georgia on Georgia, travel from the mountains to the coast.
Our traveling team explores the state's most beautiful, exciting and unique treasures.
Don't miss Georgia Traveler on the great GPB.
David Belsky is one fantastic guy to watch.
He's been hosting the show for years now.
Bob, I know it's a favorite show of yours, but Georgia Public Broadcasting does a lot of outstanding things and that Georgia travelers always been the mainstay of their local programing that are so many new things that they're doing.
We just saw a promo earlier for as if we were it Ghost.
And I do urge people that is a very important show that we're trying to get on the air for Georgia Public Broadcasting talking about a time that shouldn't be forgotten.
But MIT is rapidly going to do our past but needs to be told.
So hopefully we get that story on the air as well.
340 to go before halftime.
Lady on top of Manchester, they go high to the basket.
That's a connection right there for number 15.
Curtis Hightower, his first basket of the afternoon stretches that lead out a little bit more for coach Jerry Hunter.
They had it down to four.
Now it's back to eight.
Going hard to the basket, putting it up.
No good blocking is going to be the call going in, shooting.
Blaney So going the line will be number 13.
If he can make it up.
He's at the Heart Temple to Damian Turner and they definitely signaled that it was a two shot thought.
Here comes coach Curtis Nobles out on the floor and he landed very awkwardly and it's struggling down there right now.
And he just hate to see that when that happens.
FLETCHER At any level, I think he hit awkwardly.
They got the trainer out there with him right now as well.
That's the second foul, I believe, as well.
On Shaquille could see the replay, if we can, on this one and see if we can tell what happened.
They seem to be touching is right hip right there.
Here's the replay of it.
Just he goes up very high and clearly a block and he comes down.
You didn't see him quite lamb But you can see how awkwardly that he he looked like he wanted to get up.
And then all of a sudden, the pain really to him and now he's stretched out.
Hopefully it's just what they like to call a stinger.
And that's where they could be as they look on the right side of him.
But they're going to take their time because you just never know.
I did not see his head hit.
And of course, you know, with all the concentration we have now on concussions, if there's anything that resembles the head hitting the ground, you know, I had a chance to talk to both these coaches right before the game.
And you see Coach Hunter out there from Laney, just as concerned as Coach Noble's two very interesting guys.
And we're not trying to take anything away from this young man who stretched out there right now and making sure that all the parts are moving here.
But Coach Hunter coached the baseball team for ten years at Laney High School.
Their head coach left after taking a team to the Final Four to Burke County.
They looked around, They said, Who's going to coach?
They said, How about the baseball coach getting a report from Nikki Noto, our fearless sideline reporter fell on his tailbone and they think he's going to be okay.
He's just it's got to be stinging in there.
I think it's a stinger belt that's always scary.
And Curtis Nobles, the head coach with his blue coat and look at his blue shoes he has as well over there.
He's been the head coach for 12 years and has done a lot of things there.
Curtis Noble walking with his player off the court right now.
Momentarily, Damian Turner, the junior guard, will take a seat and I think they're going to check in.
Joseph Campbell, the to shoot these two free throws in there.
Put him down.
I'm a little surprised they just didn't have him.
Maybe they're going to let him walk this off rather than try to sit down right away.
I think that's what he needs to do.
So they do forget to bring in a shooter here and see what he can do.
The young sophomore free throw up that one connects trims.
This lead to 2580 to love.
One more opportunity coming.
Fletcher We talked so much about the first 5 minutes of the game.
In the first 5 minutes of the second half.
I have a theory that the last three or 4 minutes of the half can really tell you how this game is going to go.
This is a very important 3 minutes for both teams, but particularly for Manchester.
Let's see what happens.
Indeed, getting the rebound is Laney looking to bring across the sideline?
They do.
Harris has it now.
The senior guard looking to drive He dishes over off the glass that shot no good tipped around Harris grabs the board gets it over take it away Manchester has numbers Well here's how it goes and he loses it steps on the in-line and it's going to be turnover Illini ball.
That's the second time that they've had a breakaway.
The first one they just missed it that time they just babble the ball.
Here comes you, you'll see it right here.
Look at it.
Look at what an advantage he had there, there.
And he just stumbles here, right here.
Next step, right there.
gosh.
It's twisted.
That ankle, too.
He seems to be okay, but that was hard to look at.
Yeah.
Moving a little gingerly, he showed they were trying to figure out who would throw the ball and my ankles twitching.
Right now they get it across the timeline.
That's Newton.
The guard tries to make a move, dumps it in low, putting it with the left hand, too easy right there.
His number 20 and that's Taylor take on Taylor the senior big ten down the floor this time for the Manchester Blue Devils 2718 as a score Manchester trails but with the ball going to dump it in low and that just goes right off the hands, great there loses it out of bounds Check out Terry has been there lead scored he has not had a good game so far He was the one who had the point blank shot and passed off.
I think they expected their star player to shoot the ball on and a little bit surprised when he threw the pass down nine back with the ball Is Laney leading by nine men with the ball right now Jamie West is the one that was hot so early He is not scored many points since then but had a big first quarter foul is called.
It's going to go against Illini Wildcats with 216 to play it'll be Manchester ball and a chance to turn into this lead three possession game by nine points 2 minutes 16 seconds.
I still see what happens here.
In the next 2 minutes.
We'll tell you what kind of game we're going to have in the second half.
Manchester just seems so close to getting things going, but they just haven't been able to do it.
Looking for a pick and gets one does Martin He gets another one before he finally throws it over.
Terry, you mentioned it.
Bobby is scoreless so far tonight.
It's a little, I want to say timid to shoot the ball, but trying to get his teammates involved.
I guess he had 22 points in the last game, 23 in the regional final.
Their leading scorer quickly at the floor.
The Wildcats ready to a double team, almost threw it away.
Nice athletic play by West West puts it up and good That's Jamie West he's got a few more points now forward this quarter and launching from deep downtown That was Terry and Terry misses another shot I think he may be trying to hear from the coach a little bit saying that's a good range, finder range.
We came with you, we danced with you, we got to go home with you.
And right now he was just a little too, as you said, maybe taking to his teammates there.
Here's West again and they'll get it back outside, approaching a minute to play before halftime.
Nice move on the inside lane.
He's going to put it up.
That shot was missed by Newton and now they get it down the field That foul is going to go against West I believe is hitting the deck is kind of smart but junior guard number Mark felt a hit the term good foul but that was a good foul because he was about to be able to throw a pass to a wide open man.
Totally legal to do that.
You'll see it right here as they start the fast break.
He was still covered as you could there, but there was a man just breaking down the sideline.
You just come up to the edge of that of our camera right there.
So that was a smart foul.
But now they made the first free throw.
So Martin makes the first one.
He'll have one more coming.
That foul going against Jamie West, by the way, the seniors second foul.
We'll see if the coach wants to pull him out with only 65 seconds remaining or if he wants him in there for.
Offensive purposes.
We'll see his team extend to the bench right now and sitting down next to the coach because he didn't want to risk a third foul.
That when you're scoring that many points in the game, you've got to depend on him later that shot missed and Laney grabs the easy rebound one of two from the line was Kevin Smart the junior one or two isn't going to get it done.
Kutcher They're down ten 2919 Manchester trails Delaney Wildcats trying to go inside putting it up.
It's Thomas Thomas no good tipping around.
He gets his own rebound on the floor and jump ball is called I believe Harris just knew we had it just a few minutes ago and it's been more one sided in this.
It's 14 to 6 and rebounds.
It's probably stretched out to even more than that.
And that is one thing.
When you're as small as Manchester, you would expect that they've been able to get the loose balls and they haven't been able to do that 19 to 10.
Now it's a rebounding edge and that is just too many, you have to say, from Manchester's point of view, at least.
Lane he hasn't scored a lot of points off those rebounds.
Jake, It may be a little early to hold for a final shot here, say downtown.
We'll see what they want to do as they circling around Manchester looking to go to the basket, puts it up no good.
And Laney grabs the board.
That was a shot.
Missed by Mark Lane.
He will hold to the last shot.
Fletcher Martin picks up some defense in the back court.
Newton gets it across the time line.
They ratcheted inside quickly off the glass no good Manchester gets the board Ooh and a foul is going to go late on number five right here Newton And that's a big foul right there Then Rudy now has seven fouls They were going to hope for the last shot but that Manchester game so far out the press that they left that one The two men open underneath the basket.
That pass came in.
I don't think they knew which one they wanted to have catch the ball in.
That momentary hesitation allowed Manchester to get back.
It was actually a very fortunate opportunity there, missed by Laney and for Manchester, and defensively they went full court pressure, not allowing them to hold the ball for the last shot.
Two fouls now on Newton so Newton with two Cook with two and West with two A little bit of foul trouble starting to mount up for the lady Wildcats.
They'll check in Devonte Coleman as well for the last 8 seconds still one and one.
They haven't got the double bonus despite all those fouls you just mentioned.
First free throw from the JR short.
That's half no good getting the rebound with 7 seconds ladies they'll look to push That's Coleman launching from three no good that basket will not count.
So Laney with the 2919 halftime lead Bob, your thoughts on this first half that the pace slowed down so much in the second quarter?
I think Manchester missed a chance to kind of cut into the lead, but they're set down ten.
They would like to get a little closer than that.
There we go to the second half with a ten point disadvantage for Manchester.
All right.
Now Nick is joined by a special guest from Manchester to coach right now, your offense is dominating the pace of play, but at the same time, Manchester, their offense, they're giving their defense a little work.
They're kind of I don't know.
Do you see a little fatigue in your defense right now?
No, We just make up some mental errors.
I mean, we definitely got to get back and do some things.
This half, we'll come back.
We had to go clean a few things up enough.
Just we'll play a much better half this this out.
All right, Coach, Good luck.
Thank you, Nicky.
Thank you, Coach, so much.
It's good to have you.
Here we are, the Macon Coliseum.
We are alive.
It is championship weekend here on GPB.
Coming up at halftime of the boys two way championship.
We'll hear from both principals.
We'll find out what fans are talking about on our online chat.
And we'll have first half style stats and highlights.
So it's all coming up.
GBP championship weekend, halftime show We are live at the Macon Coliseum.
We are at halftime of the boys to a state championship game, Laney and Manchester going at it right now.
A great game as well.
Three state champs have been crowned, three more to be crowned later today on GPB.
We now welcome to the program, Laney principal Tonya mason.
Finally, thanks for coming on with us.
Thank you.
Glad to be here.
What's been the vibe around school?
Because you guys make the semifinals, you make the Final Four.
Now you're in the championship game.
We're actually truly excited about being here.
It's a wonderful opportunity for our young men at Laney, and it's a great time to show our support and a bonus for Richmond, kind of what Lane is all about.
Now you tell me you've got some building projects going on there early.
Yes, we had a Super Tuesday and the voters voted yes to over 17,000 voters voted yes to this class.
So we're going to get a new facility, our board and some other projects as well.
That's great.
We had the Advanced Placement program and we're actually looking forward to that program being started.
It started last year and we've really kicked it off the ground this year.
So it's going to be great.
You know, I hear the lady fans out there cheering and going wild.
You brought a lot of fans here.
Yes, we did.
We actually had three charter busses to come down with us to show to support in little FA Wildcat.
Okay.
We used to ask you a question from the Georgia graduation test.
This is not from the Georgia graduation test.
This is our own question.
No, your wedge of cheese.
So take a look at this and see what kind of cheese that is.
The kind has a buttery texture and a mushroom aroma and a salty, bitter tang.
What do you think that is?
That's B B, you're absolutely right.
It is beauty's.
You know, you're g I do.
I do.
All right.
In the ring and bells in my ear.
So everything is good.
Okay.
Thank you all so much.
All right.
Good luck on the second half.
Now, time to check in with Jackie Brittain, our social media maven, and she tells me she's got somebody from the Orient that she's been chatting with.
That's right, Mark.
First, get to a couple of comments from our chat we have Brian who you're talking about is watching from Hong Kong, graduated in 2005 from Manchester and he says, go Blue Devils.
We also have Destiny who graduated in 2006.
She is stationed in California.
Her husband Kendall, is stationed there in the Navy.
Now let's get to those results of the poll as they stand right now at the half hour.
Question to viewers is suspension for using a cell phone during a basketball game too harsh of a punishment or is it appropriate The tides have turned and the results of this poll and as you can see, 67% of you said, yes, the punishment is way too harsh.
All right.
And Destiny brought up a good point, saying that players shouldn't get to use their cell phones on the bench because they should be thinking about the game.
And cell phone use is distracting and disrespectful to the fans.
So we appreciate all the comments, all the opinions.
Keep them coming.
GPA, dot org slash sports.
Mark, I'll send it back to you.
Jackie, Thanks a lot.
Just great to know that people all over the world are watching our games and checking out our chat.
We also now have alongside the principal of Manchester High School, Dennis Matter.
Thanks for coming on with us.
Thank you for having me.
You know, how exciting is this for you and your community and your school and the students to be a part of championship weekend here on TV?
It's very exciting.
We've got a town of about 3000 people and I believe all 3000 are here today with us.
Last one, I turned out the lights, right?
Exactly.
You talk a little bit about what the kids were saying in school all week long because they've got to be very excited about it.
It's been very exciting.
Our teachers and our community members, just a lot of a lot of love that's been given to our boys and motivation about going and bring them back and state champion to Manchester.
What else is going on in Manchester High School these days?
We're very proud of our school.
Our kids have also not only excelled on the basketball court, but they've excelled in the classroom.
Also, we've made AYP the last two years and we recently received the Gold Standard award from the governor for greatest gains in achievement on the graduation test.
So a lot of good academic things also on the basketball court also.
I mean, that is fantastic on the educational part of it.
Yes, I'm very, very proud of it.
The now what do you think's going to happen here in the second half?
You guys had a pretty good first half.
Well, we're definitely a second half team.
We're going to try to keep it close until the fourth quarter and win the ballgame in the fourth quarter.
Okay.
We've got to ask you our question now for football season.
Like I said, we asked you a question from the Georgia graduation test.
I know you're sitting there going like, what's he going to ask me?
Well, I'm going to ask you about no, you're loose tease.
Now, that's some kind of a T at the traditional Chinese T provided with a unique process that include withering under a strong sun just to make it so.
So what kind of t do you think that is?
I actually have no idea, but I'm going to say C, you are absolutely right.
Oolong tea.
I don't have to look that up how to pronounce it, but it's oolong and you know your lose TS Congratulations.
Thank you, sir.
All right.
And good luck in the second half.
Thank you.
All right.
When we come back, we will have halftime highlights and statistics.
You are watching Championship Weekend here on TV.
Beat the boys to a state championship.
Second half is getting ready to tip off.
Stay with us.
welcome back to championship weekend here on GPB.
We are live at the Macon Coliseum.
We are getting ready for the second half of the boys to a state champion.
So for the play by play of the second half, let's throw it back to Fletcher Proctor and Bob Horton.
Guys, take it away.
Thank you, Mark.
We've had a lot of action going on in this first half.
Tell me a little bit about your thoughts about this first half.
We thought this would be a much higher scoring game that it's turned out to be.
If anything, Manchester seemed to slow it down and that that is surprising because they're the smaller team.
They want to play faster than they have.
That just hasn't worked out.
Obviously, it's been The Jamie West Show.
He scored the most points a game, 19 points.
But I think the thing is that we have to talk about those who didn't score.
The leading scorer for Manchester has zero points.
We featured him in the start of the game.
He has come up empty after scoring 23 points the other night.
The leading scorer who we can expect to be the second leading scorer, that's Echols off the bench with his nine points.
All right.
Nikki Note is being joined by Manchester head coach Curtis Noble.
Nikki, take it away, Coach, 19 points on the board, first half, three.
So a little more high scoring games, if you will, by now.
What do you think has caused the pace of play to slow down?
Well, all right.
Now, earlier, we didn't keep our composure.
We've got to get back there and keep our composure and just let the game come to us.
And do you have an injury update on number 13?
I think he's going to be okay.
He want to go back in the first high end, so I think he'll be okay.
All right.
Good luck to you, Coach.
Second half, 2019.
And here's how a little bit how he got there.
Bobby, Jamie West driving there.
He also hit a bunch of threes, which I think we'll see here pretty quickly.
But he had 19 points and they're going to take it to the left side.
He drives again on this one, but he had the first 11 of the first 13 points for it for them.
And then here's Echols, who scored and brought him off the bench and has nine points.
But again, just playing the fact that their leading scorer, Shaquille Terry, has done right.
There's Terry hitting the shot right now.
Now we'll look at the stats, but you're yeah, you take a look Laney 13 of 32 Manchester eight of 23 ladies missed their last five.
Manchester is only connected on two of their last eight from three point range.
Obviously Delaney holds a little bit of an advantage and rebounds.
Bob is where we thought lady would have an advantage and they do almost double the 20 to 11.
Almost double.
And just imagine if those free throws had gone down, it would be even more so The disadvantage that they're in right now, I think that they you heard the coach say that they were just disjointed and out of sync a little bit.
That was clear to even you and I who have not seen them play before.
When you've got a team that scores as many points as they have and they only get 19 points and a half, they were just out of sync from the very get go.
Let's see what they do.
I set the last 3 minutes of the first half would be important.
It was kind of not determined anything.
So now the old standard first three or 4 minutes of the first at the second half will decide, I think, what's going to happen.
Although you did hear their coach and their principal say they're a fourth quarter team, so they just need to get it, keep it close and see what happens going into the final 8 minutes.
Jamie West, one of those many players for the Lady Wildcats who's had a big game so far, Curtis Noble on the other side says his team has to start getting a little more disciplined, getting back into the flow and they control the tempo, not so much the other way around.
We thought it'd be speed versus size.
So far, size is winning just a little bit.
We'll see it on the boards.
It could have been worse for Manchester.
I think you can honestly say that right now.
It's so to be down ten.
Let's see what happens if we start to see if Laney gets the ball first.
All right, Laney, up 29 to 19.
We are underway here at the Macon Coliseum.
Fletcher, Proctor and Bob out here, the boys to a championship here to be decided in the next 16 minutes or so is swinging around the perimeter at the top of the key.
That's again is Raheem Newton.
He's going to give it over to the leading scorer so far, Jamie West had 17 in the opening half.
A little surprise there playing the zone right now.
And they're taking their time, penetrating it, just passing it around the 30 seconds, go off the clock.
Let's see if they come out and pick them up.
They're almost daring to shoot the outside.
Ladies missed their last five field goal attempts, so maybe they got away with it.
Maybe that's the idea.
Now they switched to man to man.
They wanted to show them one look and give them another, right, Bob?
Well, and I think that I think Blaney or Turner would rather excuse me, Laney would rather play man to man.
And I think they forced him out of that by pulling the ball out.
Now, let's see if they attack.
But played a whole minute.
They've had the ball for the whole first minute and have taking a shot.
That's why we need a shot clock in high school basketball.
Fletcher is swinging around here again as Hightower gives it back to number five.
Raheem Newton Newton looks to go to the basket before dishing it off, and it's turned over quickly ahead of the pack.
This is Terry.
Terry has not scored yet.
He still hasn't scored.
He'll go to the line and try to earn it from the free throw stripe.
And again, they kind of hesitated going to the hole.
That's a third foul.
Now, here's the replay coming up.
There's the steal.
He had the breakaway right here and look at it just kind of hold up right at the end.
And that finished strong But he was fouled there.
You saw a little bit of a tug of the jersey right there, Terry, still without a field goal tonight.
He's going to attempt to make his first point from the free throw line.
How often do you see a free throw go down?
And that brings a shooter back all of a sudden?
They no, there's not a lid on the basket.
So let's see if he can put it in and get himself on wounded.
He's got the first point of the night, his first point, I should say, cutting that lead to 9.6 44 to play West is the man who got the third foul and will have to go to the bench.
That's a key man on the bench right now for them.
And he picked up a foul late in the first half, early in the second half, Terry.
Now, the senior guard had 24 in the last round.
He has just one as he makes one of two from the free throw line.
And bringing it up will be Raheem, Newt and number 13 is back in the game.
The man who fell so hard on his tailbone.
Good to see that.
Yeah.
Nick.
He got us a report on him and said that you would be just fine, said the coach.
And sure enough, he's back in the game.
That's Damian Turner, the junior guard right around the perimeter.
They going to pull it back out again.
They're playing man to man just outside of the five second range.
The coach is asking for a count and the referee says it's not a count him.
You kind of agree with Coach Noble's on that puts it up off the glass.
That's two points and good for number two for Lady.
One of the one of the Manchester guys fell down.
They were about to throw the ball to him when he slipped.
So then all of a sudden that inbound man kind of panicked and threw a pass that was just waylaid right into the bench of Laney, Manchester, trying to do something to get back in this game.
They are down 11 in the third quarter.
That's off the glass.
No good tips around another offensive rebound and that shot goes down for Shaquille Cook.
He was spoils in that second quarter back in the scores Cook he has six Another offensive rebound though for the lady Wildcats he was converted into points there and not done it as well as they'd like to screen set.
It does not use though instead flipping it around.
It's going to be Mark Martin loses it one, two.
It's eventually brought back.
They got it back.
Here's the man who had to leave.
Turner.
He's going to be just short tipping it around.
Lady comes up with it.
Watch out.
Cook Nice rebound, nice layup.
Makes a nice move and a double.
He puts it up and in and they get that timeout Right now Kirk Douglas knows this game is in serious trouble as they fall down by their biggest deficit tonight 15 points It's a60 run for the Lady Wildcats and Coach Noble says I need time.
All of a sudden, Jerry Hunter's Lady Wildcats, they get some points.
Here's how it is in the lead pass and look how he finishes finishes strong even with a man in his face.
That's what you've got to do right there.
We're going to see it again.
That's how the key play right here, the lead pass to get him open and the fast break and the finish for the two points the first two points of the second half for their leading scorer, Shaquille Cook.
The senior power Forward was a player that we profiled in the beginning.
22 points is what he had in the previous round in that 52 to 44 victory over Jordan.
Laney, by the way, three of five so far, Manchester 042 in this third quarter, we are early on 517 to play the third quarter.
The lady stretching that lead it's now 215.
A ten point lead at halftime has grown and right now they're on the ropes.
They need to get some offense going here.
A team that scored 95 in the first in the second game of the tournament and 71 points.
I think they had the highest score of any team in the semifinals, any of the boys teams, and yet they've got 90, 20 points right now.
And you can see the frustration that you're seeing Coach Hunter there, he's too happy with right now.
But Coach Nobles is just too we got to figure this out before it's too late.
The pace is quickened a little bit, but it's actually favoring the lady Wildcat is so they'll say, all right, let's play fast.
Do you want to play fast?
Go play fast.
Putting it up.
That's no good bye, Martin.
Getting the rebound and putting it up.
And in following its turn on Lockhart, the senior has four points now in the contest, 3522.
They haven't had many offensive rebounds and I'm sure they haven't had offensive rebounds for points.
So a good sign for Manchester down 13 with 5 minutes to play in the third quarter.
Rodriguez and Newt work it around the perimeter.
Here's Harris.
Harris goes to basket trying to find inside traveling is going to go the way of Manchester turnover so it'll be blue devil ball important time in the game right now here four for both teams now there's a bit for the team to get back in it ninth turnover Fellini Manchester is now bringing it up the floor Face a little bit of pressure probably going to pick up once they cross the half court line.
You see a dangerous handoff there.
Those are the ones they can get trapped away looking at a double team right to the teeth of that zone, putting it up.
No good shot is missing everything out of bounds.
It's going to be Laney Ball.
How many times have we just seen awkward plays like that by Manchester Nets, their normal fleet?
That's what they were talking about.
Thinking too much or being too cautious.
You're going to see the shot just come up really short and in the scramble for the ball underneath the basket, there's one guy down and they're just trying to desperately save.
But I'm not so sure he didn't get that great effort by Prater, by the way.
Great effort with good job by the camera.
Looked like a marine for a guy digging for the ball there.
And speaking of it, I heard on the air and our chat room today that we have people in the military watching this game.
We want to say thank you very much for the service you good and hopefully bring a little bit of home for you as you're serving our country.
Thank you very much, Daniel Harris.
Now he gets it back over to Newton.
Lots of tenacious defense out there putting it up off the glass.
And that's Rodriguez with his hard basket.
That's the second bank on that one.
But it went in anyway.
Up the court is Kevin Smart.
Martin throws it right to his coach, but his coach is not an eligible player.
We reached 352 to play in the third quarter, 37 to 22 ladies on top of Manchester.
They've stretched that halftime lead.
We'll be back with more of the Class two eight boys championship on, the great GPB.
back at the make in Coliseum boys to a final he's got Laney on top of Manchester 3722 and but you're was the bank open here in Macon Here we go right now you tell me what he calling bankers just kind of go off that way anyway call it it's two points late.
He's feeling pretty good.
We had some good chats in there.
Crowd coming back from the break here and there.
Here's the shot again.
You tell me whether that's it, whether it was trying to bank it or not.
But I think he was he was using the glass.
He knew it was there.
I'll tell you, Rodriguez is a player who's a double double threat.
Every time he goes out there, you see him now.
He's been so great at driving.
The rebound.
Really plays than he is.
And he's got five points in the night so far and trying to get maybe a double double, if you will, in the state championship.
Only a sophomore.
And they've extended this lead from 10 to 15 with their best player west and that be their best purpose their biggest scorer tonight on the bench with 3000 still leaning a stretch to lead to 15.
The aforementioned Rodriguez got it across the sideline.
Instead, it's going to be Daniel Harris, who puts it up in a ten to run.
Currently, it's also been an 18 five run since 405 left in the second quarter.
It's been all Laney so far, 17 points that shots up and good.
So count the basket.
I believe 21 favors got the basket right there and they did that favors maybe the type of guy they could come in and give them some instant offense.
There are two guys off the bench.
They really kind of are equals and favors and favors has been very quiet still right now, trying to slap it away.
That's going to hit one lane.
He somehow comes away with it.
There are a bunch of blue Devils around there and somehow Laney came away with it.
But still, Harris has got it right now here to have the from Manchester.
It's going to be fouled underneath the goal is going to go against the senior Daniel Harris is it they're going to say he was in after shooting so Manchester go to the 1:00 stop and chance to chip away into this lead We'll get a chance to see the if we did not get to see the helter skelter on the floor.
But here he tries for the basket and let's see if they call that a shooting power.
They're going to stay back on the floor now that he's shooting foul.
I Thought Echols would have a chance to go to the line.
I agree.
And can a couple of free throws and I thought the free throw shirt he shouldn't in inbounds play it comes they dump it down low they get it thought about instead Terry's going to fire from three point range.
No good thing there he got his ankles bit swatted away by Shaquille.
Could they set it back up?
Here's Terry back over to Martin, working around the perimeter.
He's going to fire the tackles.
He's found the range, Bob.
He can hit from the outside.
He's got 12 and he had his squared up set for that.
He was able to bury the three and send it to 12.
Now the pressure picks up on defense, 12 point margin.
That's what they want to do.
They to immediately start the pressure off the big make like a three pointer although Manchester can't quite get away with the steal there late he's going to go to John Curtis Noble the head coach here said he doesn't want to play half court and either offense or defense they're playing half court on both offense and defense.
That's why they've only scored 27 points in the first three quarters of this game.
They're just not.
Here we go.
We'll see the play that that that set up.
That's the three point shot from the corner.
Watch out Set feet are in how his shoulders are squared and the time in boom perfect form And he's shown it right there at the little flick for the wrist.
Here's the second free throw first hands up and get the second one is also pure for Daniel Harris.
The senior has four points now, scores 4127.
Thought about it.
Did Mark Martins going to put it up off the glass?
No.
Good.
And Cook's going to grab the board easily.
And a fast break has started that the shot they wanted and that's going to get her name is seen in the bench I think here is man who's in a little bit of foul trouble Jamie West with 17 points dumps it down low That's a nice speed off the glass two get two more to Daniel Harris.
They had the lead down to 12.
Helter Skelter shot goes up and goes the other way.
A four point swing.
It's back to 16 lady up 4327 under 2 minutes to play here The third quarter is the man they got to try to get going right here and he gives the ball up going into the trying to get into the lane was smart and he's going to turn it over.
They're trying to dump it off to favors so he's tearing that scored with set his name much he just hasn't been part of the offense.
He's been trying to get other players involved.
Either that or lady's done a great job of taking him out by putting multiple defenders on his last to get that shot.
No good ankles gets it.
He thought about firing it up ahead.
Instead, he's going to run it up.
They get it over.
Here's looking again for Martin has to save it and the aforementioned Terry over in the corner for three no good tip the round and here comes west and Lady Laney back right Manchester back But they drive it any way no basket They're going to say it's going to be a foul two shots and I think he may have actually taken two points away from a teammate trying to follow that done.
And you'll actually see here that they did not have numbers that way.
The Manchester team was back, but he kept going here and drives for the basket right past all those white shirts who were set ahead of them.
I think you're right.
That ball came off the rim and might have gone in if they just left it alone under a minute to play.
Daniel Harris He connects it.
Laney, who missed all those free throws in the first half, doing a little bit better here in the second half.
And that's why the lead stayed ten.
Now it's up to 18 because they're making their free throws because Harris will have one more from the stripe.
I guess it was for real.
Well, 17 right now.
So far he's three of three and he's for a fourth line.
Daniel Harris is pure from the free throw stripe he will check out.
Checking back into the game is 15.
Curtis Hightower is sophomore guard so when he's been doing it you more substituting than Manchester tonight which is a little bit not what I expected.
Let's see what they can do in the final minutes.
18 points is the differential right now.
Laney on top 45 to 27 over Manchester, a three point attempt from Terry.
That one's off no good.
Wes grabs the ball West, has been the man so far for Rainey tonight.
He's trying to take it to a state championship at his shoulders.
West is trying to add to a 24 to 9 Laney run.
He puts it up shot no good grabbing the rebound as Rodriguez in the damn offensive foul is going to go against Taylor as he was here I guess a loose ball foul for over the back 30 seconds to play here the third period Laney up 4527 seeking a class two a boys title.
The lead at halftime was ten.
Now it's 18.
Not the way Manchester wanted to see the third quarter end up, but Manchester will look to set its offense.
It's got to find Campbell.
Campbell is going to put up about a 12 footer.
No good rebound to Rodriguez here's West now to walk up the last 15 seconds take the last shot calling a little bit for a screen or something.
Here's all the way to the basket.
It looks like Newton is going to give it up.
Instead, Hightower connects Curtis Hightower right at the end of the hat, right at the end of the quarter.
Blakeney Up by 2047, 27 ladies, 8 minutes away from the class, two boys title here at the Macon Coliseum, but it's 47 to 27.
Curtis Noble's got to get his team going here.
We'll have more high school basketball coming up on George Floyd Broadcasting lady up 4727 from the Macon Coliseum.
One more quarter to play here before a two week championship is decided.
So ready to get things going Bob 20 points is the differential What is Manchester what can they do here?
They've got to be as excited as their coach I just don't see the same momentum on the kind of floor as I see from him on the sideline.
Down 20 has to happen early.
Martin tries to get things going from the inside.
Terry is still been quiet without a field goal.
That's over and best so far.
And there's your call.
Excellent observation.
Helton took a minute, but they got it.
They got it right.
That's the most important thing yet.
Terry has actually been held without a field goal, this entire contest.
So he was a player we thought would have a big effort or a big impact.
He is not so far tonight.
So we'll see if maybe he can get things going.
Eckles is really been the player.
He's got 12 points through the first three quarters, 20 points the other night in their win over Vidalia.
One point no baskets so far in the first 24 minutes.
Here's Martin.
He's bombing from outside That's no good Cook gets the rebound and he's going to fire it into a teammate and they will walk it up the floor.
Laney is going to take their time blocking it up the floor.
I can't imagine Manchester's had 27 points going into the fourth at all this season.
Third quarter field goals, Laney with seven of 13, Manchester three of ten.
So Manchester's going have to get it on and in a hurry.
Here's West underneath Westhead is actually held scoreless in that quarter but he's got a chance to get to points here from the free throw line.
His knee bang down, somebody's there.
He's feeling it a bit as he's doing some stretches there.
But he committed a foul in the first ten or 15 seconds of the third quarter.
Had to sit out a great deal of it.
But you can see it's been his night to have the game.
He's usually their second or third scorer, but he's he's been their leading scorer tonight and this is his first chance to add points in the fourth quarter.
Jamie West from the free line.
His first free throw is no good.
He's got one more coming that Daniel Hare is going to pick up the slack with West on the bench.
Harris had ten points that quarter and the rebounding advantage still almost 2 to 1 in favor of Laney 25 to 14 702 to play in the fourth and final quarter.
It's a 20 point lead chance to add to it that makes it 21.
Jimmy West, one of two from the line.
It's a lot of pressure on the backcourt lady not giving in defensively he's going to force a turnover Laney ball so the Wildcats they're not going to settle they're going to keep their foot on the gas pedal back.
Yeah and there's just know it from the get go.
Manchester has not played their best game.
You could see that the disappointment and the fact that he's been so up and exciting all game, he's had a good look at him right there The head coach Curtis Noble they just weren't ready to play tonight and that's just sometimes what happens when a 17 or 18 year old kids, they have not played their best game tonight.
I'm sure they're going to be very disappointed about that as they go home.
But Laney has played a very, very good game and there's no he's just impose their will to be there.
Just it's just it was one style versus another.
And Laney Styles has won out so far for the first three quarters and a little bit into the fourth.
I think that's an excellent description of imposing their will.
And here they go to the hoop again and Rodriguez two more.
He's got seven It's just a matter now what the final score is going to be and whether Laney can that or Manchester can make a little bit of a run there, a little bit of a bump.
That's an important fourth foul to take note Jamie West, I believe, picks up his fourth, correct?
If that is on number 11, indeed, it will be his fourth.
Our main man has been here weekend long.
Kevin Barnes providing great stats, tells us he's right on top of it.
That was a fourth foul.
Fletcher was there too long.
I was just about to thank Kevin again for the great job he does, and he's got to do every one of these games and just stay as sharp as he does.
And we really appreciate his work.
We get to take a break and rest a little bit.
5227 Manchester Trails still have the ball and a chance to cut into that lead though early with the ball as sophomore Hazel Campbell gives it over to Terry tries to go crosscourt picked off here comes Harris with numbers puts it up off the glass himself and Harris is all finished Thank you very much.
12 second points for the senior Daniel Harris.
Coming off the bench.
Almost another steal tipped away, deflected out of bounds.
It's going to go off of Rodriguez and stay at the end of the floor with the Blue Devils Manchester.
They've got 6 minutes to go to make a run.
But right now Laney is fired up.
They're getting their fans involved.
They're getting each other involved.
And the defense triggers the offense.
And it's not that they sometimes just go together that way, don't they?
Fletcher is going to fire.
Does Campbell Hot Shots?
No.
Good.
Nice positioning by Cook, but he throws it right to Echols.
Echols puts it in, count it.
They'll go to the line.
He's got 14 on the night for the old fashioned three point play.
I know you love it with the old fashioned three point play.
Come two down.
There it is.
We get to see this as he tries through the lane after the missed long shot there, the rebound comes out.
They actually they saved the ball right to Echols and he drives in and actually kind of a ticky tech foul there.
But the bump in the bucket, they did get it on the air and they missed the free throw and sneak on in there.
Getting that points instead of three cuts it to 21.
That was Moore who found it up and in four with his first basket of the night and they quickly get it down the other end.
Rodriguez gets a little bit of contact.
So often when you pressure out at the front court, that opens up something underneath the basket.
That's exactly what happened there.
Once he broke that pressure near the halfcourt line, there was a man wide open cutting to the basket, which is what Manchester has not been able to do.
The other end, and I'm sure that's a big part of their offense.
Normally there was a pick that was set too late and the foul goes against Manchester.
So turnover, another turnover, Manchester, Laney, we'll take the ball Jeff Eric's more the senior with that last bucket number 44 a moment ago for the Manchester Blue Devils 54 to 31.
Bob and Curtis Noble might be trying to say team puts go a little bit more fire out there.
Well, as I said a couple of times, if they if they had the same spirit their coach had, it might be different.
But that just hasn't been that way today.
He does win the award for being resplendent in that beautiful blue coat and the blue shoes he's got.
And however, there you can see him on the sideline waving and he's been just doing that since the beginning of the game, trying to motivate his team.
And it just hasn't been there tonight.
There's a throwaway there for Laney.
Yeah, Rodriguez was going hard to the hoop.
I think he thought Harris was going to follow him out to the on the perimeter.
He did not throw it in to the bench turnover so he will go back over to the Blue Devils Manchester by way, only four of their last 16 field goal attempts made.
They're going to step it up here with 5 minutes to play.
How about cheering?
How early is second year at Laney High School?
Just 5 minutes away from a state championship.
There it is.
That's how it starts with Eckles falling from the outside, 54 to 34 now playing a little bit of defense on.
The inside west back in with four fouls no look pass that shot misses and grabbing the board is a sophomore Campbell.
He's going to look to try to run a little bit.
This is the pace they want to go.
That's exactly what they want to do earlier.
And here's Terry.
A man without a field goal so far tonight scoops it up the glass.
That's no good.
Getting the rebound and putting it up.
No Foul call, trying one more time.
It's the first time all night that Manchester's had a series of rebounds alley bowling themselves.
It's usually the other team been doing that as a foul and that could flagrant let's wait and see favors with the basket right there The ball did not go in the hoop but let's see if they call it because he was ahead of the play.
But they seem to be saying put him on the line and shoot, too.
Let's see if we can see it right here.
You can see he's clearly in front of the ball.
But they did not call the flagrant foul as he was able to, I guess, control him as he was getting on.
Here it is right there.
Very, very close.
That's about as close as you can come without it being flagrant.
I think first attempt by Rodriguez is up and no good.
He will have one more coming for 17 to play down by 18.
First free throw no good, second free throw another second free throw also Misses Manchester gets the ball looking to try to piece together a little bit of a run in a hurry.
Here's Echols again, Being tightly guarded by 15, Curtis Hightower.
He's going to launch a three pointer.
That's good.
That's two threes in a row caught by Echols and they go in the microwave and a four point thrown in there when they missed the free throw and got the layup.
So they've scored ten points.
And I'm looking to our statistician.
It's a ten to to Manchester Rhythm right now, 402 to play Take a look right here Echols from outside so they were down he is 25 now they've outscored them ten to to to get it back to within 15.
But that's still a long way to go in 4 minutes and 2 seconds.
FLETCHER Let's see what they're doing over at Delaney Huddle right now.
That's the Manchester Huddle right there.
They've got the spirit and the momentum right now.
Laney I started counting down to a state championship and all of a sudden Manchester said, Not so fast.
Pat Curtis No, but look at him.
You can see him in there right behind.
Martin He is still coaching his blue blazer off, if you will.
He is imploring his team, continue to play tough defense, keep bombing from the outside.
And Terry, try to get me just a few points here.
Give me just a little bit.
If that happens.
All of a sudden, Manchester could find themselves right back in the game.
They were state champions back in 2007, but have not been back to the Final four since that.
However, and that's a that's a little bit unusual.
When a team gets a state championship, it then goes five years and now they're finally back.
Manchester was one for seven and three pointers.
The first three quarters.
They are two for two here in the fourth.
Both have come from the hand of Mr. Eccles and they also got that when they made a basket get fouled, missed the shot they got the Pat Tappin rebound.
So they've had 23. plays in a four point play to cut into this lead, leaning inbounds and get it up to the ball to West he is going to beat everybody down shot no good that misses and now here comes Manchester Eccles is going to be the start of the bring the ball across the time line He's going to fire another three and all of a sudden he's coming out of his mind, three straight three pointers, 54 to 42.
We've got a ballgame.
339 to play west with the ball coming things down.
He's been their leader tonight, almost there, a ten second count, but they got it across now they lose the always is it He's got to be careful out there Jose he was aged for the time of possession here it goes to Laney and what a important possession hero that was And West had to be very careful not to pick up a foul while trying to reach a time when he has four fouls down by 12 with 327 big possession era favoring lady right there.
That would have been huge for momentum.
Absolutely Almost threw it away.
And Rodriguez will bring it up the floor with the left hand and they may appeal again for a Clark what 42 is going to pick up the the foul is going to go against Joseph Campbell and they're not anywhere near the bonus yet so they'll have to just inbounds it again and Laney will get the run more Clark they've had the ball since 402 so they've already taken 42 seconds left There's a pass underneath and he threw it away.
He's looking for a ball.
Well, he should have it because the ball was thrown away.
And I think that's why the referee didn't call it.
But 21 and Manchester just fell down and actually tripped.
And watch this right here.
There's the bad pass.
And then all of a sudden, 21 loses his balance.
And that's at a very I think the referee made the right call that he thought was going of bounds before the the trip happened up good notice by the official is Terry he's going to fire Terry's been quiet and he goes for his first basket as a three pointer to pull this to single digits three got it Lay west with the ball west up the floor in a hurry.
They try to get inside to cut.
Graham was rejected, but he'll go to the line and shoot to wow and that the leading scorer for Manchester here scores his first basket from the field.
We're going to show it to you right now.
He's the guy we showed in the pre game that we were count that he has been held to one free throw until right here There it is.
Boom He was quiet for the first three quarters, missing a few shots, not even taking others.
Here's free throw it up and in finally connects on the other side secure.
Put ice water in the veins, pushes it back out to a ten point lead up.
One more.
We're just two ticks under 3 minutes to play here in the fourth quarter.
Maybe Kevin can give us two free throws here in the second half.
It's been a little better, but they still have some opening by leading free throws there.
And now Laney will take a timeout right here with 258 to play.
Daniel Harris has been perfect from the line.
Shaquille Cook has been perfect from the line Laney 56 to 45, an 11 point lead with 258 to play here in the third third excuse me, in the fourth quarter.
And I'll be honest, Sutter, I know you got read here.
I'm sorry.

A great way to end the season.
Six games in Macon.
This game, we were just about to see the coach winning his state championship in his second year.
But Manchester has not gone away.
They've they've cut the lead from 20 down to 11.
And Terry Hitt finally scored the last time he had the ball.
Let's see if they can get it to their leading scorer again.
Here's Echols firing up a three and hitting it off the glass.
Echols connects.
Echols has four three pointers in this, five for the game for three points in this quarter.
He is unconscious right now, 56 to 48.
He's that man right there is keeping his team in the game to go down.
This is Paul, the bank.
Watch it go in.
Wow Now.
Laney, who had been missing free throws in the first half four, six, 646 here in the fourth quarter.
And West is on the line to shoot a free throw right now that all of a sudden becomes more important as they are only ahead by eight that's suddenly one 240 to play.
This is anybody's ballgame That free throws up.
He'll get the bonus free throw.
But J.B West himself is now two of three from the line when they needed him.
They've had seven straight Echols is four of four.
His team is five of five from the three point line.
By the way in this quarter, West connects on the second free throw as well.
So lead back up to ten with about 230 to play.
Terry's going to knock good pass short finds it shot no good Rodriguez grabs the board and that's what he does He comes up with rebounds foul is going to go against Joseph Campbell before that Well I guess that was from just inside can't this but they were five of five from three point range in the fourth quarter so far.
And it's just funny the way the modern game has gone.
It's almost like kids today at both the high school and the college level are better at shooting at three than just a couple of feet inside it.
I would have almost rather seen him do a step back there and take the three pointer free throws up and no good nearly coming away with it.
Luke Laney.
However, I think that Jeremy Smith thought, Well, I'll just let this one pass out of bounds.
Not the time to be doing that with two and a half minutes to play in the game and down by ten.
So getting it now is Echols.
He's going to bring the ball across the time line.
He's been the primary ball handler in this fourth quarter and it seemed to work.
He's going to launch another just short, no good.
He grabbed the rebound.
His Manchester shot would have not been good anyway.
Offensive, foul.
And the man he knocked down was West.
So if that call gone the other way, he would have been out.
But that was a pretty flagrant call we're going to see.
He just banged it pretty hard.
The three point what you can't fault right now.
They got to have it.
Here's the here's the fallen boy.
No question about that one.
Yeah, that was not a flop.
Yeah.
Clements put his shoulder down it right into 210 to go here the fourth and final quarter.
Throw it all away Manchester ball.
If if you could have a picture of the coach right there for Laney Jerry Hunter and the frustration and just like what are we thinking we're up ten and now young man is injured down on the field and it looks like looks like he's got almost the same type of thing in the hip or leg in his head.
Coaches there to to take a quick look at him.
Here comes the trainer that actually works for the Coliseum here to take a look at it as well.
That's Daniel Harris on the ground.
By the way.
Daniel Harris has exploded for 12 second half points.
I think it's a cramp.
Just the way they're looking at is moving his foot to try and get the leg stretched back out again.
Here's our head coach at Manchester taking advantage of this break in the action, too.
Would you call that exhort his players?
Well, Curtis Noble right now is trying to use this extra time out.
What do you think he's saying to his team right now in terms of what we want to do?
We want to speed it up.
We want to slow it down.
What are they trying to do with two way to go?
They got to speed it up.
And so often you say they don't need a three net now they need a three.
They've got to come down and be looking for threes.
I think you just saw as we were talking about it, they flashed away and try to train the young man back up the bench.
I still think it's only a cramp, but it's easy for me to say when you get a cramp, you don't want to hear only a cramp.
It's about the most painful thing you can have for a moment.
But I do expect him back.
All right.
Getting it up the floor is now, Campbell.
He breaks the time line, thought about firing it three.
Instead, he's going to look for one of his teammates.
That's Terry from three point range.
good.
And the long rebound comes out.
Delaney SEALs took away the game.
no, they didn't get it.
Then they got to win it.
Somehow.
Manchester comes away with it, thought about it.
That's going to be a point eight set from Eccles.
That's no good.
Manchester They are down.
A man is finally coming down here.
A three pointer to set that shot.
No good.
Terry.
Look watch one.
They're down by ten fires.
A three.
That's no good.
They get the lead.
They want traffic and it's too bad because it goes down.
But it was just he clearly he got he took all the steps.
He was so good at three steps.
Let's see if we could see that.
How often do you see 43. shots get thrown up in a hurry.
They're never even close to going in until the one after the walk.
And Coach Noble still saying, Let's play some deflections, Get the ball away.
Coach Hunter thinking, Come on, guys, we've got 91 seconds to go.
Let's milk this thing.
Let's get to the line.
Now.
He's thinking like Munson in a Georgia football game.
It's never going to move.
That's what he's thinking right now.
86 seconds play lead up.
That is going to go against number 13 for Manchester.
Damian Turner, the junior picking up the foul and going to the line will be number five.
Raheem Newton who believe it or not, even though he handled the ball for Laney for most of the first half without a point.
And Fletcher I think this is the type of game that that Manchester wanted from the get go they just couldn't get it going no half court they're just moving the ball around up and down the court This is what they wanted to do but it was just too little, too late, I'm afraid.
First free throws up and good that stretches it to an 11 point lead, 59 to 48 with a minute 26 to play.
They took 17 points off the 25 point lead.
But that's a long way to come back in just one quarter.
Yeah, you almost run out of gas.
Yeah, that's the other thing.
But I do think you've seen the type of team that Manchester wanted to be all game in the last 4 minutes.
Second shot, that one is up and good stretches his lead out he's two for two from the line is and no question that lane he's free throws have kept this game from getting even closer going to the basket as Campbell puts it up off the glass no good but he'll have a chance with the clock.
Stop it, chip away and bring this thing back to ten points.
Now, the best thing is a three point shot.
The next best thing is scoring when the clock stopped.
Absolutely correct.
This is Brazil, Campbell, the sophomore.
He's one of two from the line tonight is only point is come from the line I guess just from watching this young man play.
He'll be somebody they can build around for the next two years.
He looks like he's going to be a very good one.
First free throw his up and good.
He's got one more coming.
Does the sophomore 6240 now with a minute 17 to play class to a boys championship will be decided and obviously full court pressure will be applied and fouling very quickly after the inbounds pass, you see another player with cramps as well makes that one.
And he was concerned about he started shutting backwards.
There's the storm nearly tipped to lay it down.
So they did get it and it's going to go off of Laney.
So it'll be Manchester ball.
It reached their own basket down 1076 seconds to go down ten.
We'll see if they can try to fire from three point range That's Echols he's thinking about it he launches nearly connects grabbing the board is Caris Laney six turnovers in the fourth quarter should be noted Manchester's really upped their defensive intensity and once again Laney will go to the free throw line and that's where they've been able to maintain the of Manchester.
They've been able to hold it off I guess it maintained a ten point lead they have because they have been making their free throws here in the second half.
By my count, they've only missed one free throw of the entire game and that was West.
That's as soon as I say something.
They missed another one, meaning the entire half because they were all for six in the first half.
That's what I need the entire half.
Once again, thank you for correcting 69 seconds to go.
We're among friends here.
Fletcher That second free throw by Harris, That one is up and that one also misses Laney cannot get the rebound quickly up ahead though turnover Laney ball a minute 5 seconds to go ten points.
They were trying to get something in a hurry.
He wanted to try to do that, but there were very good defense played there by Laney on that one.
And it's kind of a one, two and three.
And they're trying to foul right now.
They eventually do.
And it has to be.
Campbell, you saw Echols asking for the foul.
Hey, I thought I hit him.
I thought I got him going.
The line will be number five right here.
NEWTON He's made two from the line this quarter.
One minute.
Exactly.
Separating coach Jerry Hunter from a state championship in his second year, wiping his face with the towel that he has on his hip pocket.
There, free throw up and that one falls through.
Pull up one more coming 11 point lead, 6 seconds to play.
The head baseball coach at Laney they looked around.
They said, you want to coach a basketball team.
He says, hey, I'm going into the Hall of Fame for my high school, for my college, for this.
Yeah, I can do it.
And in his second year, first year, he takes him to the state Final Four year, he wins a 12 point lead now under 60 to play three point attempt fired away that shot no good, Nick.
It just kind of dried up the success they had for about 3030 seconds or so as seemingly melted away.
But in that 30 seconds, they were hot, weren't they?
But they were.
It was fun to watch.
The crowd got excited.
We got excited.
They got a 25 point lead to eight.
That's a 17 point turnaround.
Coach Curtis Nobles over there on the sideline.
I think his fate is realized.
But he has a state championship five years ago and he's got a team that he will build around to bring back for the future.
Yeah, all of a sudden, Echols was hot for four forward.
He did it all.
It seems like less than a minute.
First free throw is up and good shot at the Blue Devils bench, maybe resigned to their fate.
Another free throw coming.
Well, they gave it a nice run in the fourth quarter and they showed us how they want to play basketball.
They couldn't do it because Laney just didn't let them do it.
I think the statement you made of imposing their will is 100% accurate at their starting off for four for Manchester now four of 11 from three point land here in the fourth and final quarter.
Here's another opportunity that shot no good four of 12 stole it away but out of bounds.
Well I said earlier they had no choice but to go to threes but you still need to take measured threes.
You run it.
We had a great video shot.
Our camera guys got it.
The man squared up how to shoot a three week all the way back to tip tech, working in the first game, showing you how to shoot a three.
You can't take three shots.
You got to try to get a measured three point shot.
And in the last 3 minutes, after hitting a couple of them, they just kind of lost that.
So the Lady Wildcats now starting to pick up on the fact that they are just 32.1 seconds away.
There's the bench right there.
Championship.
They're ready to celebrate Laney spinning.
Here's Raheem Newton who's been perfect from the line tonight.

You could not have two more enthusiastic exciting really about their communities and their kids.
They live in their communities, they grew up in their towns and they are very, very dedicated.
And it was just a pleasure to talk to both of them and they put on a show here in the second half and Laney is going to come out the winner and have a state championship.
Third time's the charm, I guess, right?
Jerry Hunter called a timeout and he wanted he wanted his team to kind of soak it in and maybe get some of the players in for a minute.

Fourth quarter free throws.
Laney, 12 of 19 Manchester, by the way, two of two.
So they are trying to get things going from the outside.
Last ditch effort, Laney grabs the boards going blind will be again.
Here they go.
I called that timeout to bring in his his second team in here they are here they come now mass substitutions as they just waited one more time.
And I think they're going to pull that coming after the first made free throw.
That, by the way, is the third foul on all time out to the bench right now.
