He's coming in.
It's a slam jam.
The pull up from three to watch this guy goal drive backs it in and gets it from the Macon Coliseum in the making center flex, day two of three.
It's the 2013 G eight USA Basketball Championships.
It's the girls class championship with Laney chasing perfection in their first title, going up against the Wesleyan Wolves, going after title number ten in the last 12 years.
John Nelson here, Shawn Golden here with me this weekend.
And Shawn, there will be no miscommunication about this particular game and its approach.
It's going to be a five letter word, press, press, press, press up and down the court.
Both teams want to exert pressure defensively, try to get in transition and get easy baskets.
All right.
Let's talk about the Wesleyan Wolves.
They've been here before.
They know the drill and it is a drill that they're very familiar with.
If they hadn't lost in 2007, they've been chasing after their 10th straight title.
And it's a big presence from a big score that's going to be there today for us.
Well, these Wesleyan wolves know how to win going for their ten state championship, John.
As you said, they can get up and down the court.
They love the open floor, being able to penetrate, play loosely and try to get some easy baskets.
Yeah, Let's talk about that big key player right there, Katie Perkins.
Katie Craig and a61 win guard going to Auburn University.
She plays hard love see him on the ball before as he said she's got a nice stroke I love her basketball IQ and you talk about prepping she was out her entire freshman year from a knee injury.
So you saw that graphic over a thousand points in three seasons.
She has lit it up here in the second season.
Let's talk about Laney semifinal losses the last four years.
Coach Otis Smart and his group coming in third, you know, having knocked off Kendrick to get here.
Yeah, customizing the great job of organizing his young players to get here for the state championship.
They've been to the semifinals four time, first time reaching the state finals.
This is huge for that.
The Augusta community there in Georgia, because they expect later to come home with the championship, chasing that first title appearance since 1995.
And let's talk about a big presence that's going to be there all day.
Well, people, you looking at the next big Brittney Griner going to Baylor University, this Khadijah came a six foot one lefty.
She scores inside and out.
She loves to play in the open court, but she's smooth with the way that she plays.
And I'm just going to love joining her this afternoon.
Third member of our broadcast team is Raven Terada.
Let's send it over to the sidelines for the early word.
Raven, what's up?
Hey, thanks, John.
It's all about tradition and superstition for Coach Azer.
Ever since she's been with Wesleyan and made it to the big stage, she always takes her team to Mount Day sale, where she once coach and also won a state title to shootaround before the game.
Whether they stay the night before or they come the day, she also always takes them to the dwarf house to eat.
She even got married around this time.
It was 1999, March six, to her wonderful husband.
She said, I knew we weren't going to be very good that year, she goes.
So we went ahead and got married.
I guess she had some pretty good intuition about this.
This team, guys, a woman's intuition is always a right, and we are not going to doubt Raven Tirado on that.
Buford and Holy Innocents played that year.
Holy Innocents got the Duke.
Let's take a look at our stadium.
Our starting line is sponsored by our friends at Regions Bank.
It's time to expect more Laney across it Collier, Destiny Bruton, Amaya Bowman and the big two up front Simmons, Smith, Anthony McCabe, six four heading to Baylor.
Here's your Wesleyan starting five working Brittany Stevens, Landon Dooley, Divina Edwards and Paige Mosley.
A lot of players heading to D1 and D2 places coming out of that Wesleyan lineup.
There are five players heading to Division one and Caramel.
A circus is actually going to play softball at the University of Indiana.
A lot of action for the Wesleyan Wolves.
One of the keys to success brought to us by our friends at TSG.
Yeah, Western has had to do a great job of handling the presence of Lane, and Lane is going to come with that pressure.
But defensive rebounding, not offensively.
Defensive rebound, limiting the second chance opportunities by Laney.
What about on the flip side for Laney as they come into today?
Again, Laney doing the same thing.
Number one, handling the press of Wesson because West is going to come to them in ways to try to force a full court game, but they're starters.
You have to get their starters rest because the bench now has to be important, give their starters some rest, and now the bench has to be important as the game goes on.
Houston Success brought to us by our friends at the technical college system of Georgia Tech.
She learn more, earn more.
It's time to get it on.
And we know that that process is going to happen.
It's going to come at you from two different directions.
Laney working over the top because of the height.
That's right.
And Wesley and down below that level, they're going to work the ground when it comes to this crowd.
Has to be a fun game to watch, good game to enjoy.
The first championship of data is underway and Wesleyan will come up with it and work their way up the floor class Double Lake Girls Championship to be decided.
Is it going to go back to Gwinnett County and the program that Jana Azar has built from the ground up and she would get her 10th title or will it be the first ever for Laney?
Three point shot is up and good off the top.
Brittney Stephens, you have written a statement.
She's going to Stanford to step into the open three against that matchup zone.
That lady does like to run.
There's more pressure from Wesleyan over the top, getting it down easy to in the transition for the lady Wildcats they were limited triples in the pressure breaker but now you got to get back on defense working with the two.
I think this is going to be one of these tennis matches or pong or whatever your favorite game is.
It's going to be a back and forth game.
Don't be surprised if we end up in the eighties by the time this is over.
Shot up the side of the backboard.
No good.
Back comes Leslie, and they've got numbers two on one Nice transition cross pass missed the shot off the side of the rim so we're going to call a foul as the shot went up There's O2 Smart head coach Delaney Wildcats take it off to the roof John we talk about open floor and you saw Katie working just dribble it down the court, seeing a teammate there in the corner and Dooley has a chance to finish two here at the free throw line.
Smart has cleared over 700 wins, pretty much has every accolade that a coach can accomplish short of a state Title eight Final Fours, two championship game appearances.
And there's someone who's won nine championship game appearances.
Channing's on top of the ladder when it comes to women's titles in the state of Georgia.
Got this program from the ground up.
She saw the Wesleyan school being built, met headmaster Zach Young.
No one wanted the wrestling job, and she's taking it to where it is today for another two for the wall.
But, John, we thought we talked about this before the game, the first 3 minutes.
Go to show how ladies prepare for this.
Take this game mentally.
Three Wesleyan players chasing after the press cracking hand it you that's to get it on the floor for the loose ball the first went down they first got there to finish with two easy baskets minute 12 and counting in it is seven to Wesleyan five point advantage early on shot up an increase of ten by man She's unstoppable down low and you see the way to see Jackson get that look jump shot up for the jump hook and easy baskets for her quick passing working from the corner off the rim no good rebound Cade and ladies going to try and trim the three point lead that Wesleyan hands three point attempt looks like it's off to the side of the rim No good save came looking on the inside knocked out of bounds by Paige Mosely to stay with the lady just getting the ball down low and a nice soft touch there on the baseline Let's take a shot No good rebound fucking back comes Leslie and she's going to bring it up the floor on her own.
Has Mosely off the flank.
She's going to go into the paint by herself, kicks it to Mosley, thinks about the three they're going to work the perimeter now duly pinned in the corner, brings it back out to Brittany Stephens.
See this matchup zone Now Lane has got to do a good job of finding the shooters.
Once they can find the shooters, they have better control defensively.
But Wesson doing a great job of picking that zone apart side corner off the rim.
No good Rebound picked up Mosley Mosley gets it put back once again off the Miss Stephens kicks it back out three point attempt got it done The hardest thing to rebound out of his zone defense and Lee's not doing a good job of rebounding right now Landon Dooley with the three it's now ten four Wesley in over Laney can spin off the rim knows good working with the rebound tripod for you're going to call jump ball situation we're going to call a foul was the kick out to Dooley for the 311 time inside out basketball for Miss shot that's the best shot this time to take a three point shot is off of a miss basket to call Dooley for the foul.
That'll be her first 514 to go in the first shot to the mass into the paint intercepted back comes Wesleyan with it.
Stephens Coming down in a hurry.
Dooley spots up jumper off the rim.
No good rebound on the inside fort for KS over the back ball knocked out of bounds 3 minutes in early impressions three of four John We can easily say that Wilson has won the first 3 minutes of the game doing this time out.
If you're you Coach Smart, you've got to control your girls.
Girls.
We went through the first 3 minutes.
Now let's settle in and play our game.
One, 202.
Smart called a throw here and we figured it was going to be that first 3 minutes.
Yeah, Yeah.
A lot of pressure.
Their first time here.
It's a state championship.
Too many people paint them on the back.
So I'm sure all week long the focus has not just been on the game, it's been on the process of getting here to make it early.
Shooting numbers.
Wesleyan on the board, four of eight from the floor with five rebounds, shooting an even 50% Laney two of six from the floor, shooting 33%, four boards for Laney, 2 to 5 for Wesley.
This is what you call a shortstop defense the front two players, a face guard.
You have the center fielder right there.
Just not allowing any passes over the top.
Intercepted Brittney Stevens off the pressing too.
Yeah yeah.
See, Wesson did a great job of camouflaging what they were doing earlier.
Now shortstop defensive same thing as they're on the press forcing the turnover Wesleyan gets it back again up eight and they expand it working with the kickout big jumper looks like it's short missed everything by Nikki McDonnell.
Here's your press working again.
Yeah Face guard shortstop.
Good Shrout is coming over and cutting them off and Stevens finishing with the two Nance intercepted by Laney on the inbound hit the floor and we're going to scramble for it.
Burki comes up with it, but it's intercepted coming back the other way.
Lane He's got numbers pass into the paint off the glass and go well, that's exactly what Laney has to do to have to advance the ball in attack and chances and don't allow Winston to get their defensive concern for Wesley right now with Kendrick Talley hitting the paint, Let's see her grimacing down the left knee of Silva.
Okay.
He's Talley was trying to get back on defense to prevent the Brewton to let's see if we can figure out what happened.
There's the pass.
It looks like it was how she landed.
Yeah, after Bruton made the layup.
And Intel is important for this team because she plays the point of the press, has great quick hands, is a great defender.
She's going to Presbyterian College next year up in Clinton, South Carolina.
So I'm sure this is something that could be of a concern for her future, but I think she'll be all right.
Chances are walking out to the floor very quickly.
Obvious concern there on the Wesleyan bench as your numbers on Kendrick Talley, the five nine senior guard not putting any weight on that left knee right now.
Yeah, obviously Raven Toronto keep an eye on that Wesley and sit three of their last four from the floor Laney is three of six in the game so far This is ladies praised as a diamond princess a 1 to 2 matchup Everyone wants to match up but you have a dead ball situation right here.
So you got cape the tallest player on the court.
She's now face Gordon not allowed easy pass it looks like she may have made up scrap here quickly cave is going to stay with Paige Mosely down the floor Laney to set up and a half court defense Brittany Stephens will one point Nicki McDonald back to Mosely Mosely drive K block from behind.
She was big doing that in the semifinals.
Had ten blocks on her own five in the first quarter which they should be doing that.
Nick She also bowls well but you got to take the basketball too high a pass could cave was there Collier four steps yeah and see what Wesley just decided in the last possession offensively when Cade comes out on the perimeter, John they're going to isolate her up top and try to drive her, forcing the foul, forcing her to defend away from the basket, which is not her strength.
And with that, we're going to take a time out on our own.
352 to go for the first Wesley In's press working so far, they are up 12 six over Lady Girls Double-A championship.
When we return, they withstand Welcome back Macon Coliseum Macon Center flex 352 for the first Wesleyan doubling Laney right now by the score of 12 to 6 and it's really never none football season in the state of Georgia this fall season three of football Friday's and Georgia join us each Friday evening starting August the 30th The all access pass pregame show as we kick the season off at North Gwinnett High School for a doubleheader with the National High School Gridiron Challenge for Ringgold.
The Valdosta from Savannah de La Grange, 40 yard field.
Tyree, we got you covered this fall.
The football Friday's in Georgia only on the hashtag Great GPB We want to talk about football season.
It's really not summer, fall, winter and spring around here.
It's football season.
Yeah.
Spring football.
Yes.
Signing day.
Yes.
And National Signing Day Recruiting.
Those are your four seasons.
You're right.
Exactly right.
John and GTP does a great job of covering good sports.
But this is what happens when you got cave out on the perimeter bicep.
Wilson wants to try to take advantage of her quickness of their quickness versus her, but she's done a great job of recovering, was able to come up with a clean block Wesleyan for the game So far, five of 11 from the floor, 46%, five boards.
Laney, three of seven 43% and six boards.
We talk about turnovers.
Leslie and forced 36 of them in the semifinal against Thomasville and that 8334 win that margin of victory, 49 points, the largest margin of victory in the history of semifinal basketball here they look like now, ladies, now going to a man demand.
And we'll see what Wesson does to try to isolate take advantage of the mixed matches tracking and figure out what to do with it.
Nikki McDonald trying to clear out what they call a blocking foul on Lane, the foul on Destinee Bruton and there's your defense.
Yeah man to man defense there and back screen and a lot of regional ladies behalf they're accustomed to that two three match up They can't reach the half court defense.
Play with your feet, not your hands.
Bruton Trying to come over the top.
They called for the foul Wesley with the easy inbound and they'll bring it back.
Three and a half minutes to go.
First quarter Wesleyan leading lady by the score up 12 to 6 girls championship Wesleyan chasing after their 10th in 12 years.
Lady chasing after their first in school history.
Stevens looking for someone to play with year guys to working shot with block Great block on her way up lane He's going to try to work it in transition Great positioning there by Landon Julie to keep the shot from going up by Jeremiah Bowman.
Well first of all let's give a lot of praise to what the officials are doing.
The fish is allowing both teams to play, and that's good because you don't want your starters to be on the bench with fouls.
Another turnover by Lane Laney knocked out of first Kings hands not quite saved coming back the other way by Aliyah Collier referees for today David Jenkins is the head ref the umpire Michelle McElwain and Bruce Mulkey.
Those of you once dressed in the white and black on the whistles and making sure that everything stays on the straight near jump shot short breaking tries to come up with something to do.
She's triple teamed in the paint.
Laney comes out with it.
He can hurt and helps cross over halfcourt.
Let's see what Laney can do with it here.
Gossip also.
034 25 versus 55 two nice size young ladies.
And I think Mr. Mr. Goss did a great job of absorbing the contact and taking the chance.
Mon Smith called for the foul.
That's her second, and that's going to be big for Laney.
It is because she's the leading rebounder and she is a young lady that plays hard in the middle of their press.
The Smart's going to have to kind of have to watch his bench, especially if a third foul gets picked up by one of his two big post players, two and a half to go first quarter Wesleyan still with the six point lead jump shot from outside off the back of the rim.
No good lady.
He's going to have another opportunity to come down with it.
Yeah, that was low And breaking sister of Katy just coming in and launching a nice deep three gets through all that time.
Looks like it was slipped to her first two of the game and it's 12 eight yet she continues to attack was able to come out with two points there in the paint Sarah Goss launches a three Got it.
Wow wow.
She's taking it back.
Back and forth, back and forth.
Basketball, this is kind of game we expected Quick's little jumper good that time by Simmons Smith responding with two of her own and back hands quickly Stephens into the corner launch another one line out fades Mosley We talked about it both teams going to get up in the court time.
They both want to press.
But you just can't.
Chris And not get back on defense has to high picked up by Katy working off the interception 1810 working thinks about shot off the glass here gossip the elbow delivers once soft touch back rim no good fighting for the rebound Simmons Smith with it for lane Well it looks like some fatigue is kicking in with both teams You got a media coming up with one in one minute and 15 seconds so these kids do need a quick breather before the second quarter and finally, the fan picked up by Brett Favre.
We go circling the turkey, trying to come back down the floor.
Looks like they're going to call a foul on Aliyah Collier on reaching.
Yes.
Now you need a solid point guard on the court between both teams.
When it goes up and down the court, you don't have some type of continuity.
Someone needs to control the tempo of the game.
And that's exactly what Laney is missing right now.
A solid floor lead, 59 seconds to go in the first quarter.
Wesleyan getting shots from inside and outside in transition of 1810.
Clear runway for Britney Stevens and they call a foul.
Yeah.
When she got there to the paint, she saw Khadija Cave and wanted to try to sidestep when she was called for a walk for the travel.
Here's Stevens coming straight through.
We'll talk about working through shots.
Alton my gosh.
pass as a floater.
Almost intercepted again.
It's mostly busy hands in the first quarter.
Yeah that was a great anticipation of that pass.
Just got a fingertips on it for the deflection.
Listen doing a great job of just thrashing and pressuring in the press.
We ladies got to do a better job of finishing down low and stopping Wesley from getting easy baskets.
Tankersley in for Jeremiah Bowman here with 46 to go, many looking like they're just going to try to work a little halfcourt here, working the perimeter, trying to get it inside off of tanks.
These hands knocked out of bounds.
It's going to stay center with Leslie.
Last week, 33.2 Hollywood whistling is doing their play man to man defense.
But it's a soft coming.
It's like a zone forcing the outside perimeter shooting of lady off the rim once, twice, top of the backboard, no whistle one more time jump ball Nice defense with Tankersley.
Okay, Booker, Booker and Tankersley.
And we're going to call possession but it's going to stay with Lane 24 seconds to go here in the first working in Booker out try to feed it into the paint jump ball again and this time it goes to Leslie Well, that easily could have been a foul, but Wesley had just been heading in there and it was doing a great job of forcing the jump ball into position.
Stephens Quickly into the fourth quarter, 20 seconds and counting.
Nice entry pass by Sarah got knocked out of bounds this Garnett Edwards was going up for the two they're going to call it just out of bounds and they call it a foul.
But John, this is what's happening here on leading ladies understand they want to press, press, press.
But Wesley is attacking that press very quickly.
Lady has to get back on defense, almost have a soft press will force the perimeter play aggressive foul called on the lead Collier your first free throws up a good 19 point on the board for Wesley with 4.7 and Edwards six foot junior she'll be around for one more year for Chalmers this is nice second lead by the rest of the team Long rebound picked up by Wesley and trying to throw it into the paint to get some offense.
We get 10 seconds and counting in the first.
Can Laney close the deal into the paint?
Easy hot step miss the shot rebound up no good third opportunity out of bounds with 2.7 and it's going to be Wesley In's ball two in the quarter it looks like probably just a soft in bounce pass to run the clock serious looking for someone to pass two quick home run Stephens has a chance for a three pointer off the rim no good as the quarter comes to a close they had the chance but couldn't close it.
End of one 8 minutes in the books for the girls class championship, Wesleyan and Laney trying to press each other out of the building.
And right now, the Wesleyan Wolves, chasing after their 10th title in 12 years, up nine on the Lady Wildcats as they chase after their first more from the Macon Coliseum and GPB when we come back could not let's welcome back Macon Coliseum Macon Center collects first 8 minutes in the books the cheerleaders doing their job as best they can.
Both Laney and Wesley Laney making the travel from Augusta, Wesley coming from Gwinnett County on the road.
Let's send it over to Raven Tirado on the sidelines with a possible injury update on Kendrick, Charlie for Wesley and Raven.
Yeah, John, I was over by the Wesleyan bench and it looks like it could be pretty serious.
I talked to the trainer and he just let us know that they would reassess her at halftime and she is definitely out yet, but it is about her knee.
So we'll get an assessment after that with coach at the half.
We'll do.
Thank you very much Raven Keep an eye on that and definitely something that Jennings is going to have to work around having Kendrick Charlie out of the game.
Of course, Leslie in the student body, always representing when they come down, parents representing Leslie and really well.
And behind us, you talked about the folks from Augusta making the trip out of here for Laney.
Where do you see that first championship?
Yes, they are.
They're very excited about that.
Their first impressions from the first 8 minutes.
But Wesley, right now, six five second chance points in Laney zero.
And I think that hurts Laney because, I mean, it does have the hype and the size advantage for the Western.
On Edwards challenging position.
They tried to put the rebound back from the foul on Edwards.
He's a B Edwards first down.
Yeah he's got to maintain her dominance there in the paint continue to get offensive rebounds and finishes for this team first free throw up on the birdcage leading the team a little over 23 points a game That's the first free throw and she's got a nice size.
I think she'll do well from there the next year at six foot four.
Lefty left handed players are always hard to defend because they know they're not of the norm of who or what you're of playing at.
Defended to free throws up and good margin kept the seven first two points of the second quarter goes to Laney Brittney Stephens working her way around baseline turns it around looking for someone to pass to find streaking underneath easy two.
Yeah just doing a great job of being patient with the basketball finding Furkan to finish for the easy by looping pass gets it into the third quarter failure they're going to call a basket and a foul on Stephen.
She's looking to leave Collier with the jam Just a great pass over the top Collier attacking Stevenson defender in the open court finishing for the possible fourth first foul on Brittney Stephens one foul in the first quarter.
They picked up two in the first 43 seconds here in the second quarter being double teamed off.
Any kind of a rebound, being able to bring it back up, Wesley to tie the up for a minute.
John Wesley and Zeke's seven pass into the paint layup missed by Kimani Edwards and we've got a whistle coming back the other way That was smart offense here by by Stephens penetrating forcing teams to come over for help in finding her teammate teammate definitely has the finish but the lady did a great job of recovering and now going back there their way, fouling, checking her first long pass not intercepted went for the interception, didn't give it easy to earlier Collier but generally we talked about the way that lady plays against the pros they don't dribble through a good pass over and you can see the height and size is coming in their advantage and breaking.
The defense of Wesley Stevens BLOCK gets her own rebound off the glass.
No good working looking for another chance up and in Wow she is really smooth A very crafty player I love the way that she plays and another over the top pass defended long pass completed and it is super easy money but she got the whistle instead there's the block Stevens with the cutback sparking being crafty we talked about how skilled she is taking it taking her talent to Auburn.
But this long pass she came in.
Well, the pass is the go over top of the press.
If you are whistle and giving easy baskets to leading and if she keeps it up, I think she might get a look from Art Briles.
The way she's been working those passes.
She does a nice touch and they two long touchdown passes and she does trading opportunities for a lady first free throws.
Lewis Minute and a half end of the second second free throws up in the 18th.
Turning the ball down for Lady Dusty's lead is now Bob Stevens bringing it into the front forward looking bounce pass, thinking that Katie Strickland is going to come back.
And it didn't happen.
Coach Smart did something there that I really liked there, John.
He didn't press in the fourth court off make free throw.
He got back and forced Wilson to play against the SEC defense.
That was great coaching there by Coach Smart Another high looping pass second looping pass was deflected to put back up double team in the corner drive missed everything even hit the rim Sarah Goss with the rebound for Wesley Stevens trying to create something in the confusion and heads back Delaney they figured this is kind of going to have its frantic moments.
You're right.
You're right.
But here's the most important thing you have to understand.
Be quick, but do not hurt.
Quoting John Wooden, well played 7 to 10 in Laney with another opportunity missing everything.
Once again, Ball out of bounds is going to go back to Wesson.
You see, a lot of times young kids, young players that understand what I mean by that.
John, There's a time and place for every time.
Everything.
Sometimes a fast break is there.
Sometimes it's not.
After they have control of the ball, in possession on the ball all the time.
Sure.
Guys looking inside 13 tries to put up a shot They call a whistle.
The partner, the winner calls.
It looks like steps on 13 before they.
Leslie has only hit two of their last eight from the floor.
Laney is one of five in the quarter passing over the top as you talked about the dribble drive drive not from behind Mosley serious comes up with it for Wesley and Wesley looking to break it out Dooley pull up blocked it from the free throw line knocked out of bounds and let's see where it stays Like it's going to stay with the wolves at 515, we knew that with the bigger bodies of Blake getting his arms and breaking up the passing lanes.
Much like that, Zachary got wingspan knocking lanes.
You have to be a little more creative when it comes to doing things below the shoulder threat.
But what's happening, John Laney, is now forcing this to play in a more half court city against a set defense.
And now it's tussling in order for Westlake to penetrate the gaps.
Five, ten and counting.
First half Saragossa puts it up bank to three rims out.
No good coming out when it does Laney it's tank sleep in three Burton looking inside double teamed down Nice spin move off that in That was a nice move getting the ball down a little melody taking the ball down to the strip No forced wrestling Tolo 22nd timeout second chance points Wesley leading seven to Laney leading nine five and turnovers.
And you see Channing's are making the point make sure that everything is going to happen that you've got to get to the basket Yeah yeah just a great job down low with the dribble drop step and finishing miss Right with two points off the glass spin to the right, move to the left baseline off the glass one.
That's right.
And they're going to have her for another year.
Yeah.
Yes.
Yes.
He has a bright future for this team and this is his style of play that Laney needs to have to win tonight's contest.
Forced to transition, win the rebounding match.
As we see, we talked about Wesley Wesley has to win the rebounding tonight, especially the defensive rebounding and now they lose that battle as a result.
LANE And now cutting into the lead, 1716, the rebounding numbers.
Wesley Not for 2913.
He's on a72 run the last two and a half minutes.
Brittney Stephens Running into Destiny.
Bruton Looks like they're going to call Bruton for the BLOCK on the Way by Jeff Stephens.
Looks like she has one speed that's going north and south, and that's fast.
And so she continues to keep putting pressure on Lane.
His defense lane is just cannot put their hands in there and get the easy and necessary fouls.
Stephens out at half court picked up by three Bates Mosley and they sure got Cutter Mosley thinks about it spins looking to pass down and she got rid of it on the way by instead of thinking about it to work their way over would have been off the glass.
We see the footsteps coming in.
Whenever you think about the beast, can you drive into her area, her presence?
You're going to crush yourself, but you do not want your shot blocked.
Time to look at below ground level after the double team coming out with at Wesleyan Mosely for the layup and loose balls.
Loose balls.
The first person down, the first person that gets up is going to be the one that wins is coming back down with it.
BLOCK is virtually knocked out of bounds playing block that time on the middle, right?
Yeah.
Good basketball there by Grayson you just awesome the tempo of the game with a little pressure added on to their six point lead and we are at the halfway point of the quarter number two transition buckets for Wesleyan keeping their lead 2519.
We'll figure out if they can keep it for the rest of the first half.
We come back to make it on GPB Sam Schoonover Welcome back.
Macon Coliseum Macon Center Flex 403 to go First half Wesleyan chasing after title ten Virginia's Are Smart Chasing after title number one for Laney First title game appearance since 1995.
Here's how they got here Big game over Toombs County winning by 61.
Taylor County win by 32.
Pelham shutting them down when that right shut down Brianna Freeman in the second half to win by 19 in the quarters And then the two undefeated teams, Hendrick and Laney, went at it.
Kendrick won by 23 to get to where they are tonight.
Road to the championships right.
Brought to us by our friends at Georgia EMC lighting the way Kendrick surprised losing by 23 to Laney playing Wesleyan tonight we'll see how Wesleyan got here.
The Wesleyan Wolves, chances are we talk about what Sanders has been able to build and continue to build it Needing our mercy.
8529.
My math serves, that's 56 points.
And then beating Freeman 7527, that's 58 points there, 48 points there.
Calhoun Bye bye.
15 there in the quarters.
Then the largest margin of victory in a semifinal game, beating Thomasville 8334 largest margin was 48 before then to get to tonight.
And Hart County had that record of 48.
Mark County also has the record right now in girls basketball for six straight titles.
And that's what if Wesleyan wins today, they get their sixth straight in two classifications and 10th of their last one.
That is huge, John.
That is very huge for that Wesleyan program.
And that to me is a second quarter field goal numbers.
Laney, now three of nine here in the second quarter.
Wesleyan also three of nine Wesleyan hanging on to this 2519 lead, 354 to go before the half.
Sarah Goss looking for help from Brittney Stevens finally does get it.
Stevens will set the offense up for the lady there.
So Stephens does a great job of attacking to pressure the defense.
And great soft head fake by Sarah Goss.
Thought about it.
There's a foul Looks like they're going to call here goes for the foul instead I think the call to travel the steps tonight instead of a foul.
Yes.
So transfers over back to Laney Frazier over the top passing here, got sparks.
She could draw a charge.
Instead, she drew the turnover.
Laney gets the turnover back jumper no good off the rim but Laney is going to try to have a reset and that's what they're going to do with Destiny.
Bruton here, John Wesleyan has to rebound the ball defensively now to allow that could be talked about, Not allowed to come in there and score the second chance points.
Okay.
With the second chance didn't get it.
Wesleyan comes back out on the break they've got numbers of four on to freaking had it ball knocked out of bounds by Aliyah Collier and it's going to stay with the wolves on the inbound 305 to go first half the freshman did a great job of penetrating hill the ball in open court but that would have been a great chance for her to pull up for a 15 foot jump side bounce pass knocked away Brady coming at it two on one there's your bounce pass up and in three points to the college young lady doing a great job of Winston to play against the set defense now being able to score in transition seven for Collier leading lady in scoring here goes double team trying to come up with something to do Tries to pass inside the paint intercepted but Laney can't control it out of bounds when that a right changes some basketball here for Laney Nice bounce pass to call you nice finish call you seven points and two fouls Brittney Stephens out the inbound gives the 15 bounce pass back on the inside here Gosh looks like they're going to call a foul on Taylor on the shot that will be Cave's first Sarah goes to the foul line to shoot to serious Gossett that three early on this was the first three point yes there guys was able to get down low give it to the body of a key force could be off balance and picked up the ease the foul against the Beasley second free throw up and no good fade with the rebound margin is four four Wesleyan 2521 under two and a half to go first half three point attempt up no good rebound picked back up by Laney dribble drive off the glass missed the second chance they're going to get a third chance once again pass into Cade disrupted her shot twice they're going to call a foul it's like on 13 as she tried to defend came on the putback sign The key and the goal of the game was defense and rebounding defensive rebounding there for Wesleyan.
And look here, here's a shot going up.
That's one offensive rebound.
That's two Collier and like four offensive rebounds in that position and you cannot win the game even though you're up by four points now Wesleyan wins and he came out sustained this game to win it allowing four rebounds offensive rebounds in one possession Collier right cave in to four rebounds to his free throw Missed the second free throw made margin now down to three Mosely in the Stevens lane starts to fast but then throws it back Stevens dribbling into the paint into the corner Thought about the three bringing it back out.
Nicky MacDonald landed it duly crafty Newt but pass over the top page.
Mosley had it knocked out of bounds, thankfully disruptive.
Mosley as he tried to grab hold of the basketball and pull it up off glass again.
Now ladies, forcing Whistler to play in a half court zone and with the size and the strength and the quickness that Laney has, the force of Gibson to take unforced shots, bad shots, and also forced unforced turnovers.
Time out fall.
Looks like Otis Smart's going to fall at 30 now to try to discuss things he's trimmed the Wesleyan lead to 2522.
And here's the last look.
There's Wesleyan, there's Stevens, there's a hip defense.
You don't have to shoot there in the corner.
So now they can get back, play more blood pressure, containment, Blue Pass, There's your help on the point with Collier looking for something.
She's looking for something.
She thought she had a hollow opportunity.
Just good defense, great press on the ball.
First containment and just doing a great job.
Coach Smart forcing now a half court game which Ashley plays to their strength.
Tankersley was the one who was inside the paint, knocked the ball out of bounds.
Turnovers Wesleyan seven in the quarter, Laney only with two in the quarter But once again that talks about how the defensive adjustments have occurred and how things are starting to ramp up.
Exactly right.
John.
Pressure by Wesleyan off the inbound for the five bodies for Wesleyan in on the two or three and there's your where's your shot at you turnover but you couldn't get possession of it Bruton coming in shot off the bottom of the backboard working with the block on Bertans second try and it looks like they're going to call for Katie working again for the foul feeds.
John I'm very impressed with the way that Lane is handling the pressure from this, doing a great job of not only penetrating over passing but put themselves in the position to not capitalize on Wesley mistakes.
Leslie Bertans First free throw is good, second three but look like it was hard coming out.
It was one off the back of the rim but a rebound went to Wesley in off the scrum Stevens coming out with it guarded by Collier attempted a three in the corner thought about page Mosley thought about it top of the key there were Booker 33 off the rim No good came the rebound.
They do a great job of limiting that possession to a wide shot a one and done new pass intercepted That's the danger of it if it's not done right Fred King almost picked from behind by Tinsley and see him with a big kick.
How do you want it coming back for the lady that almost got picked came loose, pass, bounce off the glass, No good game.
Stick back, no third chance for the rest.
Exactly what you don't know The whistle whistling now looking tired Lane he started picked up to the straight scoring down low in the paint Booker head fake off the glass count it and the foul John if this is an indication of what's going to happen second half people do not leave This is what we're talking about great high school basketball here in the state of Georgia, just shot fake drive to the basket and Booker being able to possibly get it three point play and she even went through the hip check of the Leah Collier put the shot up and got it.
That's Collier's third foul.
So we're going to have to keep an eye on Alicia Collier.
Now, when we get to the second half, this is was the first time of the game at 25 free throw off the back of the rim to harden.
Who's coming out with it looks like it's going to be Laney doubling back to have Bertans bring it up quickly guarded by Stevens 24 seconds to go in the first half and McCollum steps over Brittany Stephens in her defense getting interface caused her to backpedal and move that extra foot.
Well I'm looking at how the fisher called that the Milton's he knows that on the perimeter both teams want to put pressure on the ball so he can't call every touch on the perimeter.
Offensively she did not need to pick up a gimbal in the middle of the court.
20 seconds to go first half Stephens calling one play.
Let's see what they can do here in the last 10 seconds, working the perimeter, working Mosley Baseline drive blocked from behind by Cade No shot there.
Great hip defense there And when you get does your teammates come over like Smith to help and I think Smith hits with two fouls now but she has two or three fouls.
She's played solid defense, getting a lot of easy drive to the basket.
Got to do something quick.
Who's got the 330 glass?
Shirky hits the three at the buzzer for Wesley and puts an extra three on the board for the Lady Wolves and they needed that boost.
Lady was getting close through it to a tie at 25 Wesleyan closes on a501 to end the first half Raymond Toronto with chances are all right without a smart sorry Hey coach obviously a high tension game out there.
What is your assessment of the level of play for your girls right now?
We need everything.
We got some more for me to be there.
Iceland is a good team and we work hard to be there.
We're doing a good job right now.
Wesleyan seems to be dominating in the paint.
What adjustments will you make down there?
Defense of some adjustment.
That's how we came back from a deficit.
Okay, back to you guys.
Hey, thanks so much.
All right.
That's day two of the GHC state Boys and Girls high school basketball championships here live on GPB.

Normally, we play on Saturdays, but we let school out at 12 so all the children could come who wanted to come.
And we've got a good representation.
So you guys are going for six in a row, ten overall.
What's it like at school?
I mean, they got to be pretty fired up about this whole thing.
Well, it really is exciting to to to be at a point where you're about to set our Georgia High School Association record.
that was set by Heart County back in the early nineties.
It's just so hard to do it.
All it takes is one game to lose and you're out.
And to get here and to be playing for this is really special.
All right, Time to play.
Are you Smarter than Your students?
A question for Mark today in Georgia History program.
George Washington visited Georgia only one time in his lifetime.
Why did he make the trip?
Was it a the strength national unity B he heard peach trees, razor to chop teeth.

I think it was a I would go with a.
All right, we hear the bell.
You are right.
Congratulations.
You're smarter than your students.
And thanks for coming on.
Good luck on the second half.
Thank you very much.
All right.

All right.
It's time now to welcome in the principal from Laney High School.
We've got Tanya mason, Kent Carmelo joining us.
And congratulations.
Tell us little bit about what it's like at Laney High School these days.
You guys are going for your first ever girls championship.
Yes, we are.
And I'm excited about the opportunity to be here.
The girls have really worked hard and we're all looking forward championship.
I got to think the whole city of Augusta's fired up about this.
yes, they are.
Someone told me it's more famous now than that golf course down the street.
definitely.
What that what golf course.
Talk a little bit about the excitement because, you know, the girls are obviously they're doing well in the classroom.
They're doing well on the court.
And that means a lot to a high school like Laney High School that does.
They've been working very hard this week and actually the entire season to be here and they're excited about being here.
And Coach Smart has been doing an excellent job with him and he has an excellent coaching staff.
All right.
It's time to play that game.
Are you smarter than your students?
Let's see.
Your question comes to us on October 11th, 1927, just months after his historic flight, Charles Lindbergh arrived in Atlanta.
For what reason?
To a get this frequent flier miles be to attend the premiere of Gone with the Wind Sea to celebrate Lindbergh Day or to get a connecting flight to Paris.
What do you they say celebrate Lindbergh?
Well, I no question about that.
See, it is you are smarter than your students and we thank you for come and good luck here in the second half.
Thank you so much.
All right.
Today in Georgia, history is a joint production of the Georgia Historical Society and Georgia Public Broadcasting.
For more information, it's easy.
All have to do is go to the day in Georgia history dot org.
And that brings us back to Clara Simms, who's got more information for us.
All right, Mark, it is time now for our career play of the game that's presented by the technical college system of Georgia.
Now, despite the changing job market in the state, many Georgians continue to find solid careers in the field of industry while technology careers include machine operators and designers, as well as industrial systems managers and machine tool technicians.
Areas of the field that are growing include cutting trades like robotics and industrial design.
And it takes training and technical skills.
But these jobs are available so you can build your own career.
That is why the industrial technology is our career play of the game.
And of course, that's brought to you by the technical college system of Georgia.
And for more information, just go to TSG dot edu for more.
Boy, I tell you, you're around all those fans back there, they are really pumped up.
They've got some energy, man.
man.
Maybe they got the Harlem Shake going on later on.
You think?
I don't know.
I saw some cool costumes, what to look out for.
All right, we're getting ready for the second half.
The girls to a championship game between lay lady and Wesleyan.
We are back with the final minutes to go right after this timeout.
Stay with us.
And like us on Facebook.
Welcome back to making coach.
That seems seems like a very high tension game.
Kind of scrappy basketball.
What was your message to the girls in the locker room?
We've got to rebound the basketball.
We're getting killed on the boards and they're getting a lot of second chances.
So I think they're outrebounded us by ten now.
So we've got to box out and rebound.
You give us an injury update on number 22 for us, please.
They're checking her knee right now and she's a big part of our team.
She's a senior.
So I don't think she won't be back in today, unfortunately.
Thanks, Coach, and good luck.
Thank you.
Back to you guys.
Thank you very much, Raven.
And Coach was right.
She's talking the rebounding edge.
29.
20.
Exactly right.
That created a lot of second chance opportunities for Laney that they didn't necessarily collapse on, too, because they were three of 19 for their from the floor for their last 19 free throws.
Let's take a look bugles let's take a look at the first half highlights.
You want to talk about the big presence we talked about in the open.
Take your head tells it up to Baylor University and just doing a great job of finishing there in traffic.
There's a nice long size there.
Sure, guys.
With the three being able to stretch out the defense.
But again, Cave doing a great job of helping break the press the pass over top again, finishing down low and then it was a back and forth game Wesleyan had lead Navy was tied at 25 and then Laney comes back, it turns into a five point for Wesleyan at the break.
And you talk about what freshman has been able to do.
Brittany Stephenson There there's freshman again.
She led Wesleyan in the first half with eight points.
And there's a look at your first half numbers.
What do you see?
Who else about rebound that we talked about at the beginning?
John Rebounding.
Rebounding.
You got Wesley up down nine rebounds here in the first half.
In order for the lady to come back, Laney has got to hit some outside shots.
No.
Three point makes here in the first half for Laney whistling five for 11 from outside the arc that time stat spark to us by our friends from farm Bureau Georgia proud supporters of the action here on Georgia Public Broadcasting stats provided by our friends at West Georgia Technical College, a unit of the technical college system of Georgia.
All right.
So we talk to coaches.
Are they even Cerrato?
Did we got the idea from the wrestling side?
What about from Coach Smart?
Laney, what do you think was going on there?
They've got to have some perimeter play.
Their guards have to be active, getting more involved, gets them perimeters so they can stretch out the defense.
They are whistling.
They have to play more physical.
Believe it or not, Wesley is winning the blocking numbers right now with four blocks to that's ten blocks to six second half underway flirting with the drive.
No good spot for on the inside picked back up by Wesley and Julie for three rims out no good another opportunity for Wesley and goes by the boards intercepted pass by K bounce pass about hands one to whistle on the lady side didn't get it so two opportunities early for Wesley and they don't convert on either one and it goes over so maybe after the foul foul on Tiffany Edwards that time.
But John here's the key about that last possession Even though Wesley did not get a point, they've got three offensive opportunities there for put backs.
They're on the offensive check, second chance rebounds.
They're setting the tone for the entire half in that first possession foul on Paige Moseley.
Her first run was called it on Keven Edwards at one point, that would have been Edwards third foul, but they call it on Page Moseley instead.
It's her first.
And once again, we're seeing that loop over.
Well, that's the one thing they know, Laney, how to advance the basketball is over top of the defense of Wesley.
Wesley needs to have someone in the back to protect the basket so they can keep the offense in front.
35 seconds and 40 seconds in now, third quarter, Wesley and up 30, 25, chasing after their 10th championship in the last 12 years.
Shot rim no good here goes with the rebound She's triple teamed down on the baseline they're coming out with it Moseley Moseley to Stephen Stevens thinking about the layup gives up the layup and instead gives it off the Dooley for two Davis is very smart but watch Wesley now trying to apply the pressure.
But when the ball gets into the half court, it's going to be a lot more passive.
But getting the steal and Steve has just done a great job of being crafty and getting her teammates involved.
Distribution to Page Mosley for the two.
And you want to talk about a quick trigger for a time out?
Otis Smart Doing exactly that.
Here's that soft pass defense.
No perimeter shots being made that the lady lady secure the rebound outlet in deep.
Steve is making a wise decision to give it to Dooley 901 right now going on for Wesley and because you talk the game being tied at 25 Wesley and had the five points to close the first half.
They got four quick wins here in the first min.
11 The league has quickly expanded to nine and you want if you're Otis smart to not let this thing get completely and totally out of hand this quickly into the third quarter with John here that you have to understand as coaches they talk about this in the halftime this again this is Lenny's first time here in the big show.
All right.
They're happy to be here.
You can tell they're happy to be here while Wesley.
No, the other hand, they've been here so many times before, they've come out knowing that the first 2 minutes of halftime, a very important we have to set the tone early and you can see who came out there ahead of time.
Wesley coming out and setting the tone good enough to a nine point lead, but a smart calling a flow instead of a throw.
So he can really get things squared away for the Lady Wildcats Wesley And here in the third to four five from the floor ladies missed their opening attempt to try to knock into this nine point deficit.
The first time Lucas again came out Moseley Ball deflected by Moseley and the crossover working on the drive gets the two can't pick your ball right across the court there you don't want to music big it from here ball handler just as Chris Drew dribbling up the get Stevenson do make That's the handoff it's a pass shot no good here guys with the rebound double teamed in the paint she gets the outlet Dooley two on one Mosley has the opening off the glass misses the bunny had a chance of getting the rebound but it went to cadenza cable, slowing it down his lane.
2 minutes into the quarter drive Sierra Gospel said, What are they going to call?
He said They called it songs.
The second chance their phone call you call you coming down.
Sarah Goss was there a lot of contact one foul.
I think that's what's foul.
Wow.
That's going to hurt Laney here the wrong way here, guys.
Bounce pass inside Mosley spin move block page Mosley gets it back.
Sarah Goss just outside the paint too hard tries to get her on rebound Lane and Dooley can't get it goes out of bounds goes to it Very simple here very simple here.
Here's Dooley running after a loose ball.
I knew she couldn't get it.
You knew she couldn't get.
But that's the mindset that Wesley has.
We've got to play through the officials, through the whistle, and we've got to make this game our game to win the championship.
The advantage for the Wolves is 11 3625 to 15 into the third.
Here's that one, two, two pressure you're talking about this time down the floor.
Bruton inside Tate easy to where the field controlled here by Laney one possession at a time shared thought about the three she's hit a pass inside back outside Dooley three off the mark no good working with the rebound Thought about passing the perimeter She's going to dribble the paint inside right hand to hearts here, guys chasing with it back out Stephenson here got far corner thinking about the three also thinking about passing with Dooley for a three this is everything and Laney comes out with it definitely not the type of play that coach Azar wants with a nine point lead.
Burton guarded by Stevens Simmons Smith dribbles through three, gets Sierra Goss off the back of the rim first he had it couldn't quite control it two points in that when that right and no that's actually something positive there for Laney halfcourt offense because it allows him to get second chance opportunities to get some offensive rebounds foul on Destinee Bruton as Stevens was trying to make her way by That's Brewer's third foul James Bruton a year ago played at Trevon County in Sylvania, had to work her way into the starting rotation.
Coach has become one of the leading guards in eastern Georgia because of the play here guys.
With the push up you see that was smart there fast talking She saw the mix master.
She had the tape closing out to it.
She just lowered her shoulder and drove to the basket to pick up the block and find Allen Cave, Her second Stephens bounce pass.
Freaking easy, too.
Nice curl.
They opted out of bounds pass this first and curling underneath that down screen the soft touch inside the paint 3829 Approaching the halfway point here in the third pinned in the corner was one another right briefly intercepted for things got it She's got numbers.
She's going to take it herself.
So that's something you don't want.
If you're a lady, you don't want cave, nor do you want your post players offense in the ball court.
You've got to get your guards the ball in your wings so they can make plays and get easy baskets for the team.
And Sarah Goss draws another charge, this time fouls on Victoria Tankersley over Saragossa has been the one who's been drawing all of those charges and drawing turnovers for Laney Wesleyan starting to pull away here Third quarter now the margin is 11 as fracking goes coast to coast, leading with 14 for the Lady Wolves.
Welcome back.
Macon Coliseum, Macon Cineplex 347 for the third.
Wesleyan has expanded their lead to 4029.
They're chasing after their 10th title in the last 12 years.
Let's find out how they got their ninth title in the last 11 years, five in a row.
They were playing southwest Atlanta Christian last year and outside jumpers noticed the number three was somewhat prevalent early on.
And three pointer for Southwest Atlanta.
Christian tried to keep them close, but once again, there's Katie Fricker with the pass to the inside for the easy 268 to 40 Wesleyan over southwest Atlanta Christian to get five in a row for the lady and title number nine for Jan Azar.
And now they're chasing after title number ten.
You want to use the D-word, talking dynasties.
When it comes to, girls that this is a living dynasty.
This program has done a great job.
Coach Azar coaches her young girls to the best and the hardest of her ability.
She pushes this, pushes them.
She gets everything she wants out of them, not just as good basketball players, also as great citizens played at St Pius play a little bit at Auburn, ended up being a coach at Pace Academy and as an assistant worked at Mount the sales here locally ended up getting the job that nobody wanted at the Wesleyan School.
She's created what she's done here in North end of 400 wins.
Got that recently as well John Now, now what you're seeing is Wesleyan doing a great job.
They're going to Sprint.
They're going to force Williams to now play man to man zone, but they're going to spread their offense.
They're going to keep everyone the free throw line and layups with back cuts and back doors attacking the rim, trying to save it out of bounds was Katie Franklin.
Could Not her foot was on the baseline.
So it's a turnover and that is the first turnover in the second half for the lady Wolves took them 439 to do it and he's cave double team.
The best thing to do is to have a bring it up the floor destiny with the pass almost a jump ball situation double team in the corner was one that a right by Sarah Gosh looking for the touchdown pass and that complete different thing she's going to think about it Pull it out jumper off the rim No good rebound on the inside pass the glass and the two goes in for two.
Donna Edwards is doing a great job of getting that offensive rebound and continuously attacking scoring there at the basket.
Edwards with three ball is knocked away by Lawrence lurking there's another look at the last two in transition basket this first year running it down super nice 17 foot jump shot but there the offensive glass is and we're still here finishing They're on the opposite side of the rim up and under for Imani Edwards.
She leaves the game with three points here.
So see that second defense there?
Everyone inside the paint forcing the perimeter play there for Laney.
They're going to call Katie Furkan for the foul shot.
What up?
Are they going to call Lauren for her second, due to the coaching adjustment that Coach Azar has is it's pressure on the full court.
Try to get the steal.
Then when we get to the half court, let's force the perimeter play.
Actually, they changed it on Brittney Stevens first free throw up and good at the music.
Now this is a time if I'm a coach, if I'm coach Smart set my defense set my process.
Let's try to get some easy, simple plays off turnovers here.
Use it up for us.
Defense second free throw no good change with ten students breaking it down the floor quickly, numbers three on two streaking easy to Stephenson the great job of penetrating getting to the paint decent for two pass to the center Brittney great for tank Tankersley is up and in that's the first three shot of the game there for Laney drives them to within 11 4433 coming up on 10 minutes to go for the third bounce pass serious inside to Mosely for two and those who do a great job of maintaining possession of the ball finishing there softly off the glass back up to 13 double team tracking and Stevens coming out with it pass off the intercept Stevens easy to Stevens It's a smart play of stalking knowing how to advance the ball to her with the simple baseball fans margin to 15 they're getting out of control for the lady Wildcats intercepted Katie Shirky got to be a timeout coming up among coach Smart has been timeout in two halves for the shot off the glass and they call a whistle that was almost too good to be true.
Here's a trap the one to trap this security steel advancing up the back of the court there to Stevens to the left finish.
She's the smallest on the court, but the toughest.
And coach Smart speech is down the sideline not knowing how to attack this whistle in one two press, Katie freaking picks up her third foul, so she's going to take it easy for a little bit on the sidelines for the wolves.
80 seconds to go here in the third quarter.
Lane He's having to do some work.
It looks like they're going to call Paige Mosley on the foul as Simon Smith went for the jumper.
If you look at the match at the lineup there right now, that lady has on the court, you've got three post players on the court and you got two wings and you don't have you the starting point guard out there.
So what what is happening is Wesson is able to extend their pressure even more to force more turnovers.
They're against lane foul on Paige Moseley, her second first free throw.
No good Wesley.
And by the way, since the game was tied at 25, it's on a 23 to 8 run over the last little bit of the third and the sixth 46 that we've taken up here in the third quarter.
So Wesley has really put the pedal down to try to get that 10th title in 12 years.
Paige Mosley In and out and then Cabana Edwards looks like it might get her out of the reach in because we're heading the other way, or if it was just out of bounds and a turnover for the lady Wolves, that's what it was coming up on a minute to go third quarter intercepted easy pass bounce pass Stevens lay layup count it in two we'll see right now Coach Smart not able to go into his fix but here's a time from coach Smart you've got to think about going small ball don't allow your threes just because you have the height advantage You may have to play with some quicker guard play now to give yourself a better chance here late into the game.
That's the fifth foul on Aleah Collier Here's your pass over the top Easy two for Stevens Collier fouls out with seven points so she's she's done for the rest of the ballgame and in double coverage trying to come out with it is Wesleyan Brittney Stevens in the middle of it again for the lady wolves yes smiles on the court always on the ground.
She is everywhere.
Brittney Stevens going to Stanford University.
She's a three point specialist.
But at the same time, she's also the catalyst with her tenacity here on the court.
The margin is 1851 33, big time here.
She's off the glass.
She's relentless.
Now she's an attack mode.
She's got that confidence.
She knows she can get in there and in attack and make some good things happen.
Seven in the quarter for Stevens as we come up to 30 seconds to go left in the third quarter, the margin 20 for the wolves in a whistle.
A lot of bodies on the floor, 29.7 seconds left in the third time, 20 point lead, not what we expected coming out of the half, but at the same time, you knew that whistle.
And we're going to make some adjustments.
Laney, again, in happy stages be here fellow Landon Dooley her second first free throw up and good Barcelona Smith it's her fifth point from long faces right down the lady Wildcat bench as they've got another eight and a half minutes to try to come back from 19 down and to think that the game was tied at 25 in the second quarter, is that right?
Fatigue I think kicked in.
You can't go up and down the court reverse and the whistle just looks very fresher, a lot more fresh out here on the court.
Coming up on 20 seconds to go, third quarter, Brittney Stephens bringing it cross-court when you figure out there's something that can be done in the paint, but it's going to have to be done from the outside.
Coming up on 10 seconds, Wesson is going to have to move.
This is going to take one shot, this great offense right in this bring the defense into the gain, an advantage on penetration to the basket.
Moseley's going to have to come up with something to hard Stevens looking for a step back won't happen before the end of the third quarter and the third quarter belonged to the lady wolves of Wesleyan.
You want to talk pressure, defense and pedal down?
It was the Lady Wolves in the third quarter as they chase after yet another title here on GPP fourth quarter from Maker.
Coming up welcome back start of a final 8 minutes to determine the class a girls champion.
Will it be the Wesleyan wolves?
And after the third quarter, you'd like to say that the odds are in their favor.
23 to 10 outscoring Laney in the third Wesleyan, 11 of 20.
And you saw something seconds about the press.
Watch this textbook whenever you can get the ball across the fourth court.
That's it.
That's the trap you want.
Rotation comes for the steal easy basket textbook defense, executing your press defense.
Wesleyan 11 to 24 from the floor in the third quarter, Laney only hit three of eight eight shot attempts in 8 minutes.
Watch on the net getting the ball across the court, number one.
Number two, they've been forced by Wesson to play on the perimeter instead of inside.
And that's why they're shooting very poorly from the break from the game, Wesleyan chasing after their sixth straight championship, they would tie Hart County's run in the eighties and nineties.
If they pulled that off today.
And think about it.
If Wesleyan hadn't lost to Greater Atlanta Christian in 2007, I want to say they'd be chasing after their 10th straight championship active, right?
You know, the adjustment, if I'm leaning right now, it's not good to play man to man defense, John, because you're going to get caught with mismatch opportunities and put good players here.
The free throw line might want to run a one, two, two zone or 131 zone to force higher passes against a defense that was called on could easily say the turn three pointer up.
And in L.A., Harris has the pressure coming to be extended it.
Steve is doing a great job of breaking the press, getting down to the half court offense.
Lou pass inside Saragossa working for two.
Some of those things you can't teach.
Young You cannot teach that simple high, low and touch pass that just happened in the court Hands up intercepted Franklin Stevens has it and Fred is all by herself in the front court for the layup.
Yeah he has so much excitement with the three no one's getting back to control the game defensively there for Laney another interception by Wesley in off the press and working for two I said that a lot here in the corner and Otis Smart wants to take a time out well coach Smart really doesn't have any other options because his post players are now becoming his guards in the post players good at making solid passes against this press.
22 points for Katie, freaking 14 of them in the second half.
And here's the last steal.
Yeah, just not having a solid person to make plays against the press freaking just anticipating the pass the pass excuse me.
And getting easy and easy easy.
Two points Wesley up 5937 on almost a minute gone here and we talk about this being the team of the decade to give you another reason why ceremony on the inside take you back to 2004 here at the Macon Coliseum and you want to talk about a battle for it.
They had to go up against Tammi Jenkins and Terrell County, the Lady Green way of hanging tough against the Wesleyan wolves.
And it would almost be a break in the streak.
But Wesleyan in the end would hold off Terrell County.
They'd miss the three as time expired, get the two, and Wesleyan would go on to win 4746 rotation.
Here we go.
Same thing on same thing to get forced to try different trap rotation times and you get a steal.
You get the shot by cave on page Mosley And that's going to be Dave's fourth foul.
Here's a replay of what this went down again.
Here we go.
We talked about it again.
Bad Place to pick the ball up.
Rotation comes on the pass steal easy two points L foul there for Wesley Mosely heading to town It's the first free throw up and yes he's a solid player.
I like her.
She plays to her strength not her weaknesses, but just being physical and system.
Peyton plays playing with a lot of energy.
Nice touch at the free throw line.
Second free throw up an end.
There's your numbers on Katie for 22, three and three and bacon.
One of the big instigators in the press against Laney to see him so late lady was needs to do is pass over the press John instead of trying to deliver food as we talked about earlier margin 2261 39.
Coming up on a minute and a half gone here in the fourth here guys bounce pass gets to fryer King for another two again extended that offense high above the free throw line clear out the paint Now you got to get back doors and cuts to the basket get to the 24 home run ball to cave inside the paint control of it, gets it back, tries to bring it back outside.
Come on Terry a Harris Harris to Bruton giving go three point attempt the rim no good who's going to get it Bruton beating Stephens to the basketball Harris pass two hard for Simmons Smith Great hustle great hustle on both hands right then Great hustle Here's your textbook on how to run it from Leslie High post offense Spread the floor backdoor cut No pressure on the basketball all great Cut them by working getting the easy to foul on Saragossa first Simmons Smith to the line reading rebound it for Laney in the season averaging a little over 12 front into the one and one no good no one boxed out the shooter Harris for three rims out no good cave trying to reach over the top of everything to get the rebound but they're going to call a foul on the inside no frickin freaking is so good because she plays hard on every possession John Haven't seen to take the position off.
That's what makes this very special.
Edwards and Nikki MacDonald in Lane and Julie in sitting down teargassed Mosley and Lawrence ripping I inbound outside inside ball knocked away Landon Dooley has it 545 to go regulation Wesleyan into the frontcourt tracking looking on the inside gets into the paint briefly kicks it to Dooley corner jumper good for three Nikki MacDonald she can do that she can hit the outside shot maybe that may never be with Coach Hayes.
I want to add the time of possession there.
She'll take the three and they're going to call a block on Nikki MacDonald saying that she wasn't set on the drive by Destiny and Destiny.
Bruton Now, when you're coming in, Laney is going to be focused on the Twin Towers.
We all were.
But when you think about what today's UK has done, it's 4010 points.
Well, what has happened is, John, she's first of all, she's having to handle the ball against the press.
She should not have to do that.
She should be the recipient of passes over top of the press.
Second of all, she takes the ball out.
So she's doing so much on the perimeter that she can't take offense against her, using her strength and skills of being a good, solid post player.
Bruton Free throw is good.
She's now got for the margin 2666 to 4520 to go correcting on the court off the glass and count it in the foul.
Yeah, just spreading the defense and just cutting them very hard, slicing to the open area of the paint with a possibility of an one.
There's another look you see Stephens Great whip pass right at the elbow working off the glass and in said that a lot here in the second half free throw back rim no good Stephens with the rebound back up the pressure and they're going to reset one more time because spread this offense is now everyone spreading it out time wide cuts and drives to the basket Nicki McDonald Looking top of the circle.
Landon Dooley Dooley dribbling baseline looking loop pass inside off the glass block to Kay You're going to call a foul on the inside if it's on K that's her fifth time with John.
I think the nail has just been hammer in the coffin and no condition.
If you had a great season and said you have a great career out in Baylor, Waco, Texas, keep your head up.
You have to keep working hard.
Use those emotions to get better.
Ten points today averaged a little over 23 during the season, leading scorer to get Laney here to their first championship game since 1995.
First free throw.
No Derrick.
And we'll talk about what Coach Smart has been able to do with the Laney program took to four straight semifinals appearances before breaking through to the finals appearance this year with a lot of region titles, 700 wins the North end of that as a coach.
Second three for Good by Kim Ana Edwards margin, 29 at 6970 and Wesleyan not letting up at all John.
I love to read books and when it presents itself.
Okay.
Yeah, when it presents itself, I like to repeat love music, but one of my favorite quotes, one of my quotes when my best friends actually presented it to me, it's about Sun Tzu.
The Art of War is accurate.
Winners play to win the game at ease.
And that's exactly what has happened tonight.
Wins and has played this game hard enough to win at ease.
Others play in hopes of winning the game.
And I think that's what happened with Lainie happened to be here.
I hoping they would win tonight's contest.
Not playing hard enough to win the game at East one or two 6941 Coming up on the halfway point in the fourth quarter, Wesley and well on their way to their 10th title in 12 years.
Jan Azar's 10th title stayed at the top of the ladder in Georgia basketball history.
Bucky Stevens four two No See may not be the best player on the court, but she's the most important factor there for West.
And because the way that she handles the ball puts pressure on defense.
Great pass, unselfish play with Fred and Stevens Dooley No good McDonald rebound coming out with it it this is what you want if you're playing and when your post players are forced to handle the ball in transition.
That's not a positive note in your book.
But Stevens she's got a double double today with 14 and 11 bounce pass working and tries to give it back to Kim.
On Edwards through her hands Out of bounds.
Correction Just to give you an idea, four points in the first four points in the second, eight points in the third, ten points in the fourth quarter.
Well, it's about being consistent throughout the game, John.
And as the game, we're all just a little bit Laney started getting fatigued, started getting tired.
She picked it up, spread the offense not got easy drives to the basket dribble drive off the glass we're dead serious fighting for the rebound in transition.
Paige Mosley calls it out bounce pass Stephenson thinks about it nice look around past and half of the Wesleyan hands getting the turnover one more time jumper off the rim.
No good.
Katie frickin gets the rebound.
Pulls it back out to the reset.
Hey, Joe, look for a timeout to come up here on Wesley because they want to get the game under control.
Make sure it's done the right way, a little bit more effective.
I can just feel and sets the time up from a really quick not in any real hurry to shoot, just looking to penetrate, dribble and run block as they're up 3071 41 Saragossa thinking give and go with Furkan but ball was intercepted by one A right bringing it over Destiny Bruce coming up on 3 minutes to go Regulation Bruton launches the three off the rim no good rebound missed again by lady blocked by Paige Mosely and out with it Stephen Stevens Back to Mosley two on one And there's Frere King one more time for two That may be her last field goal as a Wesleyan lady Wolf nice finish great career, just a nice pass left hand finish with a chance to get to the foul on Jasmine Holman, Her first and Frere King now has the most points with that bucket You saw that she had 520 tying in Marie Armstrong for the record for most points in a season for Wesley.
Look at her.
Just relentless.
They never stop.
I love this Wesley team John.
They never stop playing hard.
So interesting now in the record books, defeating Emory Armstrong's record of 520 in the season Indiana's are looking to match substitute.
Exactly.
Exactly.
And these girls deserved it They played hard they executed the game plan, just did a fantastic job of maintaining their composer and finishing finish.
They did 10th time in 12 years.
They're going to get another championship up 32 with 215 to go regular session.
And it looks like it's going to be Lauren Furkan coming in.
Foul call on Simmons Smith.
That'll be her fourth first free throw in the game.
MacDonald was good.
There you go.
Given Edwards 33 is in the third period.
They're the sisters.
They're the sisters Katy coming in for Warren a lot of one on one in that household which think good job and I'm thinking Katie won most of it.
I think so.
But I was told because as I said, that Lauren has a chance.
She's only a sophomore.
She has a chance to be just as good as the big sister.
But we'll talk about the seniors for Wesley and Katie first and Brittany Stevens, Kendrick Talley, Taylor Blackman, who's been injured all year.
Paige, come here.
Saragossa.
Another great group of seniors creating to the family atmosphere that Wesleyan has had.
Jane Azar helped create.
The Bucket is Good That time by Simmons Smith 7543 2 minutes.
Yes I'm all Simona de late the dollar shot with the star a day late and a dollar shot with that shot there.
John Booker with the drive, they're going to call it four steps and chances are it's going to keep coaching.
Do you think it hit them with talent not being able to finish the game?
I think she's so emotionally attached to her teammates that feels the happiness and the joy.
Even though she was out with the knee injury, no question about it.
She gets to share in it just as much as everyone else.
Off the glass.
No good duly out with it gets past the Crabbe into the frontcourt and the pass incomplete to Lawrence working and ends up in the cheerleaders and almost over by Mark Harmon But John it shows you how Coach Azar coaches her team.
Everyone is coached the same way.
They have not lit up.
They're going to play with the same mindset, the same focus and the same drive like the starters have done.
Taylor Casey now in the ball game, replacing Landon Dooley, the ninth grader, now handling the basketball as we get under 80 seconds.
Yeah, this good minutes for her, believe it or not, good minutes for her to get a little confidence and a taste of what it's going to be like playing in the championship game.
36 turnovers created by Wesleyan in the semifinal against Thomasville.
Laney has 31 today.
Big three point attempts rims out.
No good.
Wesleyan fans certainly wanted that one.
And jump in there for those of you at home, do not know where Wesleyan is there in Norcross, in Gwinnett.
It is right across the street from Norcross High School.
Yeah.
You've got a team like Wesleyan who is a dynasty great I mean, that's beautiful right there.
That is beautiful.
That's just called great teammates.
This embracing the moment again, West and right across from Norcross High School.
That's a lot of good basketball.
That's a lot of good basketball right there.
And within a 50 yard radius.
Yeah, I'm going to walk across the street and play a little pickup with Diamond fields.
How about that?
How about that?
40 seconds to go Regulation.
The coronation will go.
Jan Azar stays at the top of the ladder in Georgia.
High school history, but she gets to add another championship ten in 12 years for the Lady Wolves and the program that she started to brother Ricky athletic director Blessed Trinity.
He started the football program about the same time that Jan Turner and Jan Turner started to be the head basketball coach.
Wesleyan.
Jan's husband, David, active in the program as well, or daughter.
Nicole's playing in the elementary school level.
You talk about what has gone on.
You start in elementary school, go to middle school, go as ninth graders, and you think about all the names that have come through the program.
It starts with Aracely Born Nikki Luck.
First ceremony.
Yeah.
And Marie Armstrong, all of these names that have come through the Wesleyan program that they've been able to build from the ground up and you want to talk Mount Rushmore, who's on the top of the mountain when it comes to Jan Azar of soccer right there, John Doe five, five of the six seniors on this team.
John won a championship in Western's middle school versus Donovan Shields when she was that would academy.
So these young girls have been together for quite some time and have experienced success at all levels.
And every year it's a new experience for.
And Azar, when it comes to coaching and getting back to the top of the ladder, Hart County, 1989 to 1994 got six straight but she still coaches most coaching and a half.
Yeah, she's still coaching.
I love her.
Look at the Look in the Eyes is still coaching love, but she this is her future.
Let me get a lot another amount of coaching with these young kids just a little bit more because she's got youngsters and then she's got a ninth grader in there running point.
And this is one of those experiences where they get to learn about what it means to play in the last game of the year.
Exactly.
They're going to bring it back out.
Booker and Nikki McDonald shoot it.
Another three point tip Taylor Casey off the side of the glass.
No good out of bounds with 5.8.
There is a smile.
Yes, it's hard to laugh.
There's a smile.
She still coach.
There's the smile.
I don't think that's ever in question that.
She was going to continue coaching until game at 000.
Out of bounds, heading to Laney, making sure that they all get back to defense one last time.
7643 And you want to talk about being a handful.
Jan Azar has been two hands full for all of girls basketball in the state of Georgia in Scorpio Chips in 12 years.
But Leslie loves to do it one more time and really shine all you can say dominating performance.
Yes, it started from 25 all and if you take it from 25 all to where it finished 51 to 18 to close the game, which is kind of like a prizefight, even though you may not be, you may not have the size and strength of your opponent, but you're able to sustain, use your quickness and use the entire 48 minutes of the game and come out with a nice big 32 minutes of the game to come up with a nice big victory.
And we knew what to expect.
It was going to be one of those games who is going to press, Let's send it over Raven Tirado with the once again victorious Japanese arm coach.
What a fine senior sendoff at six in a row.
How does this team and this state title win to all the others?
You know, we try to do one year at a time.
And I'm just really proud of this group for coming together this year.
We knew at the beginning of the season we had to do a lot of work to replace the four seniors.
We graduated last year and this group of seniors had a lot of senior leadership and they came out in the second half and refused to be beaten.
What does this win mean to you?
It means everything.
Watching them run out on the court tackle each other, and that's what it's all about.
I'm just excited for them because I know how hard they worked.
Congratulations, Cuts.
Enjoy the win.
Thank you.
Back to you, John.
Thank you, Raven.
The Lady Wolves celebrating one more time.
And we said that for the 10th time, Jann Azar gets her 10th title to stay at the top when it comes to the ladder.
And Double-A girls.
More from Macon when we come back on GPB new in the state championship presentation up unless he's ready to challenge testing.
All right, Welcome back to the Macon Coliseum and the site of the GHC basketball Championships.
We are now ready for that trophy presentation.
And to the Lady Wolves of Wesleyan, Mark, take it away.
Thank you very much.
It's time now to present the Class Double Girls State Championship trophy and what the presentation.
We go to Ernie Yarborough of the GHC.
Well, Coach, here we are again.
Congratulations on another great season to you and your kids.
Terrific game today.
And again, congratulations on behalf of the Georgia High School Association.
Thank you.
There's the trophy holding high Coach Dan Azar, your hands are full.
Talk a little about what this means to you and your pay and your program.
That I am means a great deal with these six seniors.
You have played together a long time, and I'm just really proud for them.
They're a great group and we'll miss them and I'm just excited for them.
Six in a row, ten overall talk about the accomplishments I think is a great accomplishment.
It says a lot about the time and effort that all of our families and all of our girls are put in over the years and our coaches.
And for these seniors to go out this way and make a little mark in history is exciting for all of us.
We've got Katie perking right over here.
Katie, talk a little bit about this.
Your freshman year, you in your sophomore year, you in the junior year, you in the senior year you win.
Talk about your stay there at Wesleyan.
Well, I mean, obviously it's in sixth grade and ever like all through middle school all I wanted to do is get to high school so I could play for coaches and play on the varsity.
And it's been an amazing four years.
And my freshman year I was hurt, but I was still a part of it.
And being able to win all four years is a big deal and not a lot of people get to do that.
So that's really cool.
They're taking away all of our stuff already.
But real quick, just what's it mean to you to go out as a senior and win this with all these players that you played with over all these years?
It's a big deal.
We have so many great players go through Wesleyan and we have six this year who are all going off to college and.
We tell ourselves all the time, college isn't going to be anything like this high school.
So we love each other and it's cool to be able to win it together.
All right.
Katie Ferguson, I got to say good bye because they're buzzing the buzzer us.
But let's get it over to Claire Sims for our DVD tailgate party.
All right.
Thanks, Mark, so much.
And once again, congratulations to you, those Wesleyan Lady Wolves.
And this is JP's tailgate party.

Ring the bell.
You are right.
You are smarter than your students, say Football Fridays in Georgia and from Ringgold to Valdosta and Savannah to Lagrange, it's year three of football.
Friday's in Georgia, along with the all access pass all season long on the great GPB.
Time now to welcome in one of the stars from the Wesleyan Lady Wolves, Brittany Stevens.
Thanks for coming on with us.
Just tell us a little bit about the game out there.
Very close.
The first half you guys took charge in the second half, some well, we knew the Slaney was going to come out ready to play.
We watched them play in the final Four game.
We saw their high end, but we knew that we had the numbers against them.
So it just took us a while to get going.
And once we really started picking it up on the press, so we got to get going and we started playing together as a team and that's it all started going our way.
Now you've been here before, obviously, we've been talking about it all day long, but what's different about playing here in this championship game than it is maybe a year, two years ago?
You know, there's nothing like it.
I there's I can't even describe it.
It's so exciting.
I've never been like so much with you guys to tell us the game, just knowing that it's my time not only ever playing on this court, but my last time playing with the six seniors and the team that's so special.
It's such a specialist show game and give us our guys so much.
And it's amazing to be able to lead my career with a win like this as it sunk in at all that you've won six in a row, ten overall since Danny's been coach there.
You know, I don't know.
We're just so thankful and so honored to be a part of a program like this and where we get the opportunity to make history like that.
It's so awesome and I'm just glad I'm just thankful to get to be a part of it tonight.
Well, thank you so much for joining us.
We really appreciate it.
Congratulations.
And now it is time for our what to expect Regions Bank Game preview.
We're going to send it over to Sean and John.
Well, Claire, it's Gil and Herve.
Well, we say good afternoon to you.
This will be the second session here at the Macon Coliseum.
I want to say congratulations to Jan Azar.
She continues to get it done, doesn't she?
Unbelievable.
All right.
Let's take a look at what we have now.
We have Blakely County taking on greater Atlanta Christian.
And of course, when you look at greater Atlanta Christian, it starts with Eddie Martin, but it's a whole lot more.
Yeah, they've got a heck of a lineup.
And the thing about this team, probably not Eddie's most talented team, of course, he's had a lot of great towns and teams at Norcross, Greater Atlanta, Christian, but he says they have great team chemistry.
This team really plays well together and that's why they have so many players that contribute in every game.
And Black Lee County, they the 45 minute trek from Cochran up here.
And I'll tell you what, Herb, this is a team that's run through If you look at they beat three of the top five coming in here in the Double-A.
And you got to believe right now that they have no quit.
I think they win those close games because they've got a lot of seniors on this squad together.
They're very senior laden team and so they've got a lot of confidence.
They've been shooting their free throws well lately in close games.
You know how big that is.
So if they can keep this close to the end, they're going to feel confident.
All right.
We look for a great basketball here.
Our second game of the afternoon session, a dynamite program here in Macon, in middle Georgia.
All this writer, Gil Tyree, along with my partner in crime, Herbalife.
Now back to Mark Harmon.
Matt, is Mark, it's all yours.
All right, Gil and Herb, I can't wait for the second game of the day coming up.
We have set up shop here.
We're hunkering down three days in the heart of Georgia, right here in Macon, where we're going to crown 15 state champions.
And, you know, there's a lot that Macon has going for it besides just us, right?
That's right.
So David Belsky from Georgia Traveler, he takes a look at the fourth largest city in the Peach State.
Here we are in the jewel of central Georgia.
Welcome to Macon.
Historic homes lined the streets and the tunes of Otis Redding and the Allman Brothers Band are just a few songs from Georgia artists that filled the air.
But did you know that Macon is also the center of sports history in Georgia?
Because it's here, you'll find the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
This 43,000 square foot state of the art museum houses over 3000 artifacts and is the country's largest state sports museum.
And Hank Aaron, Ty Cobb, Phil Negro, we got more down here.
That's right.
Managing director Ben Sapp gave me a tour, starting with their most recent Hall of Fame inductees.
Reggie Wilkes played at Southwest High School in Atlanta, who played for Georgia Tech.
I went on to a great professional career with the Eagles and with the Atlanta Falcons.
Priceless memorabilia from UGA, Georgia Tech, the Falcons, Braves, Hawks and even tributes to legendary Georgia golfers, including the incomparable Bobby Jones.
Like to say he's the greatest golfer of all time.
Not too many people would argue with that.
But it's the interactive experience that draws sports fans like me, a chance to pull a hamstring while pretending you still have the agility of a young athlete.
Do a little juke crossover.
No, don't do.
And of course, you have the football skills challenge.
Throw it through and kick it up.
A note.
Not going to try that again.
And my favorite part.
A chance to become an announcer and call a great moment in Georgia sports history.
I chose the Sid BREAM slide of 1991.
Swing line drive.
Left field water on his arm.
Here comes BREAM.
Is good till the ending.
I think we've got a team.
All right.
Thanks for making the call.
Interesting.
Impressive.
And, of course, and embarrassing moments are to be head of the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
Winning, making, stop on by and learn about some Peach State greats.
All right.
Ready to go to work.
JB is the home of many local productions like Georgia Traveler.
Lawmakers, of course, all of our great sports programing.
And we're also very proud of our Emmy Award winning Georgia outdoor show hosted by Sharon Collins.
When you turn around.
You're mad at me.
I know.
I'm sorry.
In a short while, some of this land will be set on fire.
That controlled burn was crazy.
It's like blazing hot.
And you want us to put more clothing on?
More clothes?
We've got to cover the skin.
Yeah.
God's not as hot as that fire can be if your clothes catch on fire.
Well, you promise?
Now I'm going to catch on fire.
You're not.
I promise.
All right, let's hot.
It was kind of cool watching this guy just throw flames and woosh rushing.
And my photographer, who is always trying to get the best shot saying, do you feel very secure?
You know?
You know, he's climbing up ladders that don't have anything to hold them steady.
We kind of have a back and forth sometimes about, should you really be doing that?
I'm trying to get you the best shot.
And he does.
What are you doing?
Sharon Collins is a brave soul, I'll tell you that.
Now, let's check in with another brave soul, Claire Simms.
She's standing by with a group of very enthusiastic and excited fans.
Hey, Mark, when I saw these people walking, I just had to out why they were their there.
You can see they are really decked out in purple and yellow.
And I want to hear what inspired your outfit in your tutu here.
She's mighty crazy, my friend.
Thank you very much.
Am I?
And why is it so important for you to be here and support your team?
To support our team and to support Middle Georgia in general?
We love everybody.
We just hope a really good game.
And I love your lips.
Those are awesome.
Do you have any special cheer for your team as we start your game?
I have one very small people backing Cochran.
All right.
Better you are.
Hey, they are very, very excited there.
And good luck in the next game.
We're now got time to check out our Georgia EMC basketball scoreboard.
One game in the books.
Wesleyan wins its sixth straight championship, beating Laney 76 to 43.
Coming up next, the boys to a championship Blakely Cranny goes against Jaycee in the five a girls game.
We've got Miller Grove taking on Southwest Cab.
And then in the nightcap tonight, around 845 or so.
It is Gainesville taking on top ranked Miller Grove.
We'll have that one for you all day long.
So that's the Georgia EMC scoreboard right there.
We're number one.
We're getting ready for the boys to a state championship game.
Tip off.
Time is back live here at the Coliseum right here on GPB.
Like us on Facebook.
