it is the three A girls state championship battle here on GPB.
The Gold Lady Cats and the Waco Washington County Lady Hawks do battle here at Make It Here tonight.
We say good evening to you and yours.
It has been a marathon here on GPB.
Our exclusive coverage of the Georgia High School Association basketball championships.
We're going to crown a champion in three.
And for that, we're going to bring on and bring them back the popular tandem that you heard earlier today.
Dave Cohen and Dick Williams.
We say good evening, gentlemen.
You have a great call in a great basketball game.
It's all yours.
All right.
Thanks a lot.
GILLEN Thank you very much.
And Dick, going to be a great ball game.
Not a lost yet for either of these two ball clubs.
It's only fitting that the two of them wind up here at the Macon Coliseum.
Very rare to see two undefeated teams meet in a state final.
The two most meritorious teams making it here to the Macon Center plex will be a battle of contrasting styles to some outstanding players, obviously on both rosters.
Our key player for the Dalton Lady Cannonball Quinn McMurtry one McMurtry she prefers to be called Fran is six feet five inches tall.
This is her second trip to the state finals.
Last year.
She was here with Northwest.
Whitfield Now she's enrolled at Dalton, the city school, and averaging a double double dare, as you see, of a Dalton starting five for this ball game here tonight.
Amanda rector, April Best, Lee and Chandler McKinney.
The guards actually go with four guards.
Mattie Howell and Kenny McMURTRIE.
Again she goes is Kwon and our Mark Harmon had a chance to talk to Jeff McKinney just minutes ago alongside Dalton head coach Jeff McKinney.
Coach, talk about the importance of playing in this championship game for triple A plus big for our community, A making this group of girls you know that's that's been our goal since the first year and we've been trying to honor God with it.
And long as we keep that up, we'll take it what Take whatever we get.
And what a final.
It's a battle of unbeaten.
yeah.
They they're a very good ball team.
We're going to play extremely well.
We've got to stop number 15.
Coach, good luck tonight.
Thank you.
Don't 32 and on Washington County at 31 to no.
And the player we'll keep an eye on is the one of their guards Alicia Gray.
Alicia Gray can flat score the basketball.
She averages 27 points a game.
And first I thought it was a typo and she averaged 22 points.
But she is the offense for the Washington County Hawks 5/10 sophomore point guard.
The rest of the Washington County starting lineup for tonight's championship game.
Nelson and Gray and McNair, the three Guard offense, Kayla Brown and Fathi a best the two forwards and moments ago Mark talked with the Golden Hawks head coach Doug Parker, alongside Washington County head coach Chuck Parker.
Coach, talk about the importance of playing in this championship game.
Well, I'll tell you what, it's definitely very important.
we have five.
Still got five.
See, you got to be graduating this year and that's been their life long dream since they've been here at Washington County's play for a state championship.
And this year we finally get the opportunity to coach talk about this is a battle of unbeaten I tell you what is ideal situation but I think the team that's going to be fundamentally sound, the team is going to come out and work harder and I think you got to be smart and that's going to be the team that's going to win it all.
It's good luck like it must be.
All right.
Thank you very much, Mark.
But the two head coaches and we're talking about keys to the game here, get the ball inside to Kwame McMURTRIE.
She can flat out fill it up or guard offense around McMurtry If it's man to man, they want to get the ball inside.
And again, like we saw in the earlier game, swarming defense, a lot of full court pressure and they want it and they want to get it up and down.
They want to run for Washington County keys to the ball game there for the Lady Golden Hawks, some uptempo control with their speed and for Dalton Love.
We'll get back to Washington in the second quarter.
Dalton again the number one seed in seven a triple AA again 32 and on the season and again they like to run a lot of guards, a lot up tempo and the cattleman's have a great tradition in basket and basketball They have a huge fan base.
Looks like half the city of Dalton is here this afternoon.
But this again is a four guard offense built to get the ball into Quan McMurtry and a lot of it will rotate around.
Amanda Richter, Director, five six senior point guard averaging ten points, three rebounds, about five assists the ball game very active though on defense took 101 steals coming into the postseason and that's impressive They've got the better scoring balance Washington County as well but we'll talk about that.
Here's McMurtry six foot five in the post, 210 blocks on the season.
She disrupts the offense.
For example, in the play playoff game against Saint Pius, they shot 18% in the first half and she's got 40 steals on the season.
So a very effective player on both ends of the game for Washington County in the Golden Hawks they'll look to play up tempo want to push that ball up the floor as fast as they can because they don't want McMurtry to settle in and block their shots and behind their leader, Alicia Gray.
This team likes to shoot a lot beyond the three point line.
Yes, they do.
And Gray is just a marvelous shooter.
And she will shoot the three and she will penetrate.
And again, 27.7, almost 28 points.
A game not bad on the glass either by five rebounds.
No, not at all.
And this is a team that averaging 67 points a game and the other teams averaging 69.
I think I have to look that up.
But they're they're both right in the high sixties so again teams that are pretty good on the defensive end but that like good looking play up tempo like to score the ball a lot right and get it set the scoring balance resides more with Dalton while Washington County here depend primarily on Alicia Gray and just a bunch of other people scoring a few points each.
So again, coming up, it's coverage of the girls triple-A State championship, Dalton and Washington County.
We're back to the Macon Coliseum right after this message from GPB.
GPB Scott, let's get it started.

Have you tried one of these?
So something I can't believe we haven't done this before.
wow.
Look at that.
A bike jingle.
Do the check.
A good neighbor.
Step over there.
Hey, guys, Do it again.
Do it again.
Like a good neighbor.
Step over there in my office.
State Farm.
I think we're good.
State Farm agents are there when you need them.
And welcome back, Dave Cohen, Dick Williams, courtside here, the Macon Coliseum, Earl's triple-A state championship showdown.
Dalton and Washington County still can't get over the fact neither one of these teams has suffered a single loss the entire year, 31 and 32.
And that means these ladies haven't shed a tear yet.
Somebody is going to.
Tonight we get set for the opening tip as Alisha Gray will jump center opposite Juan McMURTRIE There's a mismatch for you and the tip is up won by Dalton and Dalton in red, Washington County in white.
Jeff McNichol, Dwayne Gribble, Joe Cole, Jeff Prentiss, Jeff and Nicole.
The crew chief is the Multi County headquartered in Gwinnett, chose his partner, Duane Gribble in Sioux Falls.
From my viewing of Georgia.
McCaffrey down the other end missed on the turnaround baseline jumper Washington County comes up short as well Sierra McClure missed the long jumper from the left wing and here comes the lady carrying on the goal.
They'll swing it over on the wing to Chandler McKinney, trying to go down low and step out of the way.
Mattie How long three is up?
No good.
Everybody flash in the grass and April Bell's lead comes down with the loose ball.
They'll send it back out front.
Amanda Rector out of the stall.
That scares the Drake along the perimeter here for Dalton.
Here's a long three from the wings Going to come on short and short.
Three Washington County will take over possession.
Well, it was a short three full court pressure now by the Dalton lady got him out and that was in the keys to the game there for Dalton swarming defense.
On the other end, McClure loses the ball on the spin move in the lane picked up by Dalton back in the hands of their senior point guard, Amanda Richter.
And she had 101 steals coming into tonight's ballgame here.
The championship game top of the key McKinney.
They look at trying to communicate here.
She'll drive in the lane.
She'll dump it on the wing.
Best shot is up and is no good.
Another offensive rebound.
Here's Richter in the lane.
Floater is up and it is good for Amanda Richter.
Now you fans hearing some cheering behind us as we watch Dalton set up their press here.
Let's go wake up.
That's not a reference to the matter.
Bears in Waco, Texas, that's what they call the team from Washington County, Waco, Chuck Berry and Nelson running the point right now in this four Guard offense for Washington County to nothing Guard score lady count amounts of Dalton on top Nelson over to McNaught on the left wing back up top Nelson got a whistle and a foul away from the ball match up there with Besley and gray and of course they're going to do their best any time.
You've got an opposing player averaging almost 28 points a game, you're going to have to make sure you know where she is on the floor.
That's what I was thinking.
I actually I was trying to find her, just as you mentioned that.
So here's Sierra McClure on the inbounds and we'll get in to Nelson on a pressure there from Richter and now they'll back it in here a little bit more time.
You know, the way Dalton is playing, this is a boxing run that's four players balling.
There's only one player playing great right in the middle, short jumper in the lane is up and it is good shot put up there, which is what you have to do.
What they did was what you have to do against the Xbox One.
Hey listen girls going to just draw too much attention.
LeBron on that basket there at the Washington County, thinking about a three on the other end.
Dalton.
It is up and it is good three pointer.
Matty Howell, her first points of the night it's a five to Dalton advantage right away and they go baseline on the other end quick shot for at best it's a one point game against it five for trying to watch this box one set up now here's to watching kind of pleasant you pull it out to set up their offense is that man looks really high which kind of surprises me I think that want her dropping low to the boards so Richter with the ball for three again sets up time where close to the basket record in the corner and some trouble up front to Matty Howell how it looks just leaves it there for Von McClure three over on the wing.
Chandler McKinney She'll drive into the lane.
Stop.
Pull up the jumper.
No good Rebound battle for McCurdy had it gets stripped and we got to whistle underneath goes out of bounds to the lady cat amounts of that 4 minutes 39 seconds remaining first quarter Kayla Brown checks out we're Washington county inbounds looking in director here in the corner looks out front Matty Hollis I sets it back over here side director record directing traffic again she knows where she wants these players SEC and Coast Guard three she'll finally open man Right up underneath on the left and it is good right there by April best floater that zone came in off the weakside beautifully done three point Dalton lead here First quarter picked up by Lisa Gray going to drive it all the way the left is good that it was a blocking foul underneath and that fouls on the three I think Gomer Khatri trying to take the charge underneath split second there looked like she had her feet set but she picks up the foul That's her first first team foul against Dalton.
And Gray at the line for Washington counted the opportunity in a three point play and she gets it with the free throw and we're tied once again at seven here 407 to play first quarter.
And it looks like we got a timeout Time out of time ball game here, girls.

But they don't all get to the state.
Final seven seven ballgame here midway through the first quarter.
Goff on the inbounds Beasley will put it in play.
Powell gets it back to Bardsley.
She's going to take it into the hands of Chandler McKinney.
Back out Howell.
Howell thought about three over ten McKinney against straightaway top of the circle back to Matty Howell a sophomore guard who averages 11.
Into the hands of rector Amanda Rector finding room left side.
Here's McCurdy Free throw line jumper is short the rebound brought down the hands of Greg Alyssa Greg quickly into the frontcourt driving all the way lay up a bit McCaffrey when I've got a rebound in the third through the dangerous reach on that lane but no call I think she avoided contact Richter Back to back Danny in the corner jumper up there by Richter No good McMurtry got a rebound missed on the put back attempt got a whistle and a foul and it looks like it will be a foul against Dalton.
But a foul I somebody stepped out of bounds and a corner.
Exactly.
I think someone stepped out so far Dalton shooting three for ten from the field Washington County three out of five for five more field goal attempts so far for up tempo going here's gray left wing for three jumper to go the rebound brought down by Dalton they give it to him into the hands of the junior guard Chandler McKinney puts for the trailer like the way Quan Kearsley ran the floor that time Powell for three off the back of the rim No good long rebound to McMurtry Nice look inside and a layup underneath is up good by Beasley the senior guard her second field goal She's got four and Dalton back on top here by a bucket was very nice basket that we're starting to see on offense is playing out high Just open up those backdoor cuts Great Got to get that ball Nice move right up underneath and finishing it off his feet The best baseline right side and we're trying to get it down and a steal after the inbounds and put back up and in by Sha'carri Nelson the junior point guard she comes out with a steal and Washington County a couple of quick baskets on top here 11 nine Dalton pushing it to Beasley and McMurtry turns it behind they get it back to McArthur your baseline jumper no good Beasley offensive rebound step back good six points now for April Beasley tied again at 11 as we get late here in the first quarter Driving through the lane Nelson lost it off the feet of Bess it trying to save it as McCaw right there in front of the goal bench ball ends up out of bounds and it will be Dalton lady Cat lady count him out possession and this is a game being played in a toy space too.
I think benches might become important because they're really putting it up and down.
Dame head coach Jeff McKinney.
There you see Shug Parker, the head coach at Washington County.
Those two and these players have done an outstanding job to undefeated Buffalo.
Trip Park has got a record of 76 and ten for his career and he takes Snider Jr in the ball game shot put up there by don't know good ends up out of bounds I'm going to say last touch I think it went off of McMurtry and it will be Washington County Golden Hawks basketball early inbounds by sure carrier Nelson for Washington downing shoveling that ball into the front court finds McNair back to Nelson.
It's no longer a boxing run if it was ball three put up there no good by Nick nor Andy rebound Kayla Brown was blocked and three down to ball swatted away by my country there We're going to post down little turnaround shot there LeBron is blocked by McMurtry three pointer out of the corner is up it is no good got a whistle and a foul Shaqiri and Nelson launching that three deep in the left corner foul on the play against Dalton and so Nelson will step to the line for a couple of free throws here breaks the coach's heart every time they found a three point shooter he's averaging eight points, couple of rebounds, almost five assists a game.
And the first one is good, Waco, The Washington County Hawks take the lead second and three on the way.
And so far, 1142142 shot goes down.
We're looking at it.
It would have been two for possible four point break.
She gets this one makes it two or three.
She's got enough votes to override a veto.
And the third free throw us up, that one off the rim.
A race for the loose ball.
It's deflected out of bounds.
I'm going to say last touch by the lady going to the Hawks and I'll be going the basketball one point lead right now for Washington County here with 106 to play in the quarter long inbounds will come in to McKinney.
Let's get to how I lost it and there's Beasley to pick it up Victor trying to lock down low a little bit little bit too far over the outstretched arms of Mattie Howell uncharacteristic of Richter.
She's pretty smart.
Ball handler.
So Dalton turns it over, checking it out.
Brooke Thomas for Dalton, the five six sophomore point guard averaging five points, two rebounds, got 40 steals on the season.
So very active with the defensive end as well under a minute.
First quarter for Terry Nelson.
They go right in the middle a little floater up it is short and the rebound brought down by Beasley she's going to take it coast to coast driving leg up this up it is good uses that left and the right one good job she's got eight points in the ballgame one point lead now for Dalton 1312 inside of a minute remaining in the quarter.
Nelson looks over to the bench.
Coach Parker calls in the play.
I presume they're going to play for one shot.
You know, run that play with about eight or 9 seconds left.
Nelson directing traffic gets it to McNaught back to Nelson there's a three she got knocked down no whistle for the loose ball Well said that ball back out foot into the hands of Amber Antoine time's a waste and here's Gray She's going to launch it and BUZZER sounds of the first quarter is in the books.
If you look back I think she was aware of how much time.
But the first quarter is in the books here in the girls three eight state championship at Dalton with a one point lead here over Washington County 1312 back with more action from make it right after this time up from GPB time on Secrets of the Dead.
While America worked on the bomb, Japan created its own secret weapon, an advanced sub to blow up the Panama Canal.

But right now, here's your chance to chat live during the championship games.
We invite you to go to pbs.org, forward slash sports head chat, high school basketball with the experts from Score Atlanta.
Again, that's Borg forward slash sports and crew chief Jeff Nicole will put the ball in play.
The ball belongs to Washington County, Waco.
The lady hawks Cierra McNair on the inbounds to Shaqiri and Nelson.
One point lead right now for Dalton Here's the lob to Nelson from three they go right inside the short little jumper in the lane is up and it is good by Amber Antoine and a one point lead again Washington County here they come on that full court pressure Dalton zippo best we got to break up She's got eight here in the first quarter.
Here's McMurtry.
The first three did not score in the first quarter.
Had a couple of rebounds nice look defensively underneath and the shot was up good off the glass and the first had two rebounds and two blocks in that first quarter when she was scoreless.
This game was not what we anticipated.
We thought that the ball would be powered down in the country by Dalton.
It's not the case at all.
They're running it so far.
In April, Beasley did with double figures scored.
She's got ten points on the Nelson looks crosscourt to McClure up top into the hands of faith The best factor McNaught into the hands of Bess gets inside and McMillan on the country underneath missed the first shot offensive rebound second time's a charm.
Well I think the country is afraid of fouling again, she said.
She was pretty tentative.
They wrapped her over on the wing and the shot put up there.
Up no good.
Brook Thomas shot from the right side, no good and down with the rebound especially.
But Richter again the best lead they tried to lob down low There's one country trying to get something established on the other wing She gets possession, gets the ball but gets far from behind and you see nice entry, pass, good location and out of position.
That time was Alysha Grace.
She picks up the foul.
Kershaw makes 64% of her free throws.
We should note that the Big Ten coach, Jeff McKinney, sentencing.
He said, I teach math and I'm a number three.
I drew all my stats from the room to make sure they're accurate.
The for the country.
Mr..
Both in the country.
Mr.. MURRAY he didn't have to check the film.
See that here's a Lisa and McNaught right back to great trailer Nelson She's going to attack the goal leave it up underneath got a nice bounce pass that the best not able to get that shot to go down to Russell for the loose ball and possession arrow is going to save her Dalton 6 minutes 14 seconds to play second quarter one point lead here for Washington County and again they attack full court pressure.
Richter is going to break it rather easily.
She'll send it into the corner here for the basketball comes Lisa.
Great, great gets it the and Nelson lost the ball out of bounds and what they were hoping would be a transition fastbreak basket just couldn't hold off.
I wonder if Alisha Jason was just taking that herself instead of risking missing her pass the inbounds in the brook Thomas she's a sophomore point guard now in the hands of Richter on the way.
Bring it over.
The best lead.
Gimme the minute the country comes anywhere near the paint.
Two white jerseys immediately.
They tried unsuccessfully to screen for that time.
But Thomas with the ball, there's a bounce pass on the entry intended for any Kate Snider and a whistle in a foul if that's on brazen they call that one on amber Antoine so Beasley on the inbounds and it will come in the middle to McCarty Nice feed and the shot there by Snyder He's no good Beasley got a rebound Turner on jump hook is up it is good nice left hander up by That's a very nice he's got 12 one point lead again for don't carry a Nelson into the frontcourt for the lady hawks Sierra McNaught bounce pass to Nelson Fox one right now will lock it back up front It's been one of those games there's a three point field goal up off the back of the rim It is no good rebound fought for McMurtry comes down with it sends it ahead to Amanda Richter seven lead change and so far here in the ballgame we're early second quarter but Peartree driving nice feet underneath to Brooke Thomas who finishes her first field goal.
And it's a three point lead here for the lady Talbots slam dunk 1916 three should get the Boston County coach Chip Parker wants a quick timeout here.
All right now here's why up drivable pass from a country that's just beautiful.
She's an unselfish player.
We learned so 439 remaining second quarter in what is now a three point ballgame for goal it always again you know when you go back to our keys to the game but we talked about trying to pound the ball into Kwan McMurtry that really hasn't been able to develop at all well until that possession really it is because of the defense that Washington County is putting up.
She's being double teamed every time they're down there.
He also addressed the killing of Dalton just after the game.
We were playing out high in an effort to show him a different look.
That didn't work out that well.
See Beasley there leading the way, 12 points, four rebounds already, three point lead here for Dalton, Nelson and McEwen.
Dr. Nelson back over to McNair, 1 to 2.
It's a box one and long three is up no good and McMurtry comes down the rebound.
It's Eubanks one more time against Alicia Gray Here's Brooke Thomas out of the country over on the wing to indicate Snyder took an extra step traveling violation that would be a turnover there on Dalton and so they'll put it play right in front of their own bench superior Nelson on the inbounds to gray gray going to give it right back Gray so far three points.
He had that three point play very early in the first quarter.
The averages almost 28 points a game.
Matthew, Matthew, best top for up front to Kayla Brown from back to backs looking for some help Leslie some pressure they throw it away loose ball stolen there by Brooke Thomas.
He came in with 40 steals in the postseason and she is well positioned there.
Richter leading Brooke Thomas with a nice pass and a fast break.
But Thomas took an extra step.
She'll turn it over, coming back into the ballgame.
Maddie Howell and we have a break here.
3 minutes, 37 seconds remaining, second quarter, three point lead here for the Lady Cat about some dunks.
Back with more from make it after this from GPB.

Well, this game, again, not following our plotline, but I'll tell you what's going on for some county offensively for April Bosley has shot six for seven from the field Elisha Gray averaging almost 28 points a game a shot, only one for four because of the box and one defense.
So gray on the inbounds to Nelson where she's immediately picked up by Dalton's Chandler McKinney Nelson into the frontcourt everybody else is using number 20 McKinney is chattering Hey LeBron back to Nelson in the lane off the face the best cutting in layup off the glass is good.
So because of this defense, Dre is going to be a decoy for much of the game.
Six points on the night for your best start and going to throw the ball away on the inbounds and it will be turned right back over to the lady Hawks one point game, just over 3 minutes remaining.
Second quarter ignore on the inbound She's a56 senior guard averaging about eight points two rebounds wants to be careful on that inbounds comes right into Amber back to McCaw for three jumper good out of the corner still like the defense that Tatum is doing good Beasley a little out of control stepped on the line right underneath the basket and they turn it over so a couple of quick turnovers here by Dalton and Washington County taking advantage kick up now 2119 five point run here we've got to figure out what to do about this box and one for carrier Nelson frontcourt for two Alysha great great shadowed there by Eric Gordon kick it out the best best in the middle Antoine Amber fires in the corner to McClure that three may have been partially blocked.
The ball sails falls into the hands of Bryan McMurtry.
They quickly said that ahead to Maddie Howard three on two Hollow right down the lane, the runner no good but she got fouled chance for a three point play there Wow Now she gets to throw to drive tied up Well she had teammates to the left and to the right but it was just an egg.
You got to make a split second decision there, but just enough of an opening that she felt at the last second.
But let me go ahead and try it, take it to the basket myself.
And she thought she could get it up off the glass.
And then the first free throw gives her four points on the night and we're back to a one point ballgame.
The second one draws a little bit of iron, but friendly iron, and she's got five.
We're tied again at 21 to 25 with a turning block here.
Second quarter run.
But she is shallow.
You just can't find any free room to kind of do her thing off her back out front to McClure Shamet to Tennessee.
Great job on defense is moving her feet That's her soul roll out there right now is to play Alicia Gray Nelson on the win and look to fire three partially blocked going down the loose ball was the best in the quarter jumper for three is put up there by McNaughton's is no good rebound the McMurtry they want a run Dalton going to push it up a three on two driving it all the way attempt there Howard no good and a rebound by Washington down and they got a man down the floor it's McNaught and McNair was a little bit too far underneath the basket but they maintain possession long jumper there by greater good the three had a hand right in your face rebound Yep yep here's Besseling Danny Howard trailer is wrecker jumper good for three my man director has five in the ball game three point advantage now for Dalton 2421 What a ballgame this is It's really a true chess match as well Superior Nelson junior point guard here's McNaught should fire a three no good and Kwon McMurtry comes down with the rebound She's got to have six or seven rebounds to this point and she'll bring in a second court.
She's got six rebounds, three point field goals, one for five shooting so far for Dalton, Washington, 22 out of seven for three.
He's not a big part of the ball as far as shots made under a minute, second half first second for the system 90 Howard leads off the record sector and great director got around it Try to leave it up get it to McCarty her shot no good safety the best down with the rebound on the up with the McNaught tries to get it underneath faith the best shot is up should seventh rebound in the ball game from the 30 a rebounding machine on one end they see if they can get her involved offensively on the other time on thought with 17 seconds remaining here in the second quarter, 32nd timeout so they've got 17 seconds to set up.
I'm guessing the last shot coach Jeff McKinney will try to do that here.
Okay.
Well, you might look at April Beasley, who leads the way with 12.
I mean, she's been there.
She's got to be in there offensive go to person, especially in transition.
But she's been up and down the floor tonight.
You could also look low in the country and then kick out high to a man director for a three point shot play inside out, kind of an approach to this issue.
And the three sets up.
First, they've got to contend with Washington press well down.
I'm going to put the ball in play and they'll have to go the length of the floor yet.
17 seconds remaining here.
Second quarter inbound.
So come to Richter, get full court pressure.
Great And K LeBron and she's got the track and fans signal for a timeout so another 32nd timeout ball four by Dalton and they'll have 9 seconds and they won't have to go the length of the floor but just about got of and they can do that for the ball in play inside and I mentioned sneaking around on and they got 9 seconds that should be enough time to get the ball in the huddle with coach Jeff McKinney.
You want it found now?
Open the floor run by 23.
Quick shift.
Parker talking to his girls.
And here we go.
We have nine ticks of the clock remaining.
Second quarter, 2421 April Bell's lead Daschle on the inbounds and it'll come in to Kate Snyder getting a full court pressure.
Here's Richter Six out of ten.
They're going to take it all the way.
The runner at the two second mark, no good rebound brought down by Lisa Gray.
And that is it here.
The first half is in the books and the lady cat him off some Dalton right now.
Head to the locker room with a three point lead right now to Mark Harmon with head coach Jeff McKinney.
Jeff, what's your assessment of the first half?
Well, we're making too many turnovers in order to win a big margin like this.
You can't just make open floor turnovers and we got to stop it.
I'm proud of his defense.
We've done a pretty good job of stopping and we're 15, so hopefully we continue that second half.
What you going to try to do in that second half?
we're not going to change much defense.
We've got to do a better job, obviously, protecting the basketball and just play our own ball game.
You got a three point lead.
Good luck to you in the second half.
Thank you.
All right.
That's Jeff McKinney.
Now back to you guys.
All right.
Thanks a lot, Mark.
Again, we're here at halftime to make it Coliseum Dalton in the locker room with a three point lead over Washington County, 2421.
Back with our halftime activities after this timeout.

Halftime underway here in making is prime time exclusive coverage of the Georgia High School Association basketball championships continue you see the numbers on your screen the girls three eight championship battle right now Dalton holding a three point lead over Washington County.
You know, it's always great to see the principals.
And we've featured all of the principals throughout our half times here and our coverage here on GPB.
And we bring it now to great principals of two great institutions for Waco on my right.
We'll talk about him a little bit later on.
Alan Gray.
But we're going to begin with Dalton's Debbie Freeman.
Debbie, you have to be really happy about a three point lead.
And what Dick Williams had said is a very entertaining basketball game.
It certainly is.
This has been a very magical season for our Lady Cavs and they've done a wonderful job in representing us on the court and in the classroom.
And tonight is no exception.
We're really proud of the game the girls are playing and the girls are playing really well.
And I want to ask you this.
You look at what you guys are accomplishing right now.
Athletically.
What is Dalton doing academically that you're proud of?
Wow, We are proud of our academics at Dalton High School.
We are an Ivy and in AP school.
That means we're in Advanced Placement in International Baccalaureate Program School and we've just recently been recognized for our AP scores, the number of students who take the classes and the number of students who scored the highest levels on those exams.
Well, outstanding.
A lot of people came down from Gardiner to support the lady cats.
And you know, our community is just top notch.
They travel well and we always have a good crowd, a good crowd and the student body has been so supportive of these girls during this magical season, entering tonight with the 32.
And I was just unbelievable.
Debbie, thank you.
I'm going to move to your counterpart over in the right.
And he's not only a great principal at Waco, but he happens to be an outstanding dad.
He wears a dual role, his daughter Alysha playing right now.
Alan, great.
We welcome you to the program.
Congratulations on a successful season and good luck tonight.
How are you guys feeling right now?
Thank you.
I'm I'm feeling a little bit nervous.
You know, we're down right now, so I'm sure coach, you go in in the second half and make some adjustments.
You know, I want to ask you this.
How is it being a principal and daddy to look at it?
At least you got two more years.
She's being recruited by everybody.
Well, she's having an outstanding year, you know, as a principal, which I'm sure my counterpart over that can tell you, kind of the daddy and mother of all of them.
And as a father, we're very proud and very blessed.
As they say, it takes a village to raise a child and definitely a great community.
And.
SANDERS So what do you have going on in Waco that you're proud of academically?
Well, the biggest thing we have, we were awarded a $3.35 million grant for blended learning, and we were able to purchase netbooks for all of our ninth grade and 10th grade students.
And in two years, every student in the school will have a netbook.
So we're starting the blended learning program and it's technologically sound.
We've moved to 21st century classrooms where we have the LCD projectors, the Alamo projectors, and the teachers have the parts where they can walk around and interact, you know, with the students while they're teaching to make it an engaging environment.
Well, it's definitely about technology.
And like you said, engaging in the emergence of social networking.
You know, w talked about the folks from the Dalton coming down, a big community you guys represent pretty well too from Sanders ville.
Yes.
Has done we travel very, very well.
You know it's hard sometimes I think to schedule us you know, because we travel so well and that you can see I think everything in Sanders field is closed right now and we just like to thank the community for their support, you know, our young ladies as well and 30 to know about this community together and that we're really excited.
Well, this is definitely an entertaining basketball game.
I want to ask you this.
As you look at the second half, what does Debbie Freeman see for a lady out there?
Lady, cats like that?
I think this has got to be the ending to an unbelievable season.
And what I need to say is go be grand.
And for you, what do you think, Alan Gray, as you look forward in the second half?
Well, we need to you know, I think right now we're being outrebounded.
You know, that's my coaching experience coming out of me.
But I think we'll get it together and hopefully we will.
But no, no matter how how it turns out, you know, we wish both teams well and go Lady Hawks.
Well, I want to congratulate both of you guys for an outstanding job, the Lady Hawks and also the Lady cats.
We wish you well and we're very proud of you both.
We want to say thank you to Alan and Debbie.
Now let's go to the gentlemen calling today's game with the first half highlights.
One Dave Cohen and one Dick Williams.
Gentlemen, it's all yours.
All right.
Thanks a lot, Gillian.
You know, Principal Gray talked about rebounding.
SWAN McMURTRIE I'm going really scooping him up.
She's got seven or eight rebounding, seven or eight rebounds so far.
That's right.
He expressed concern about his three point deficit.
We'll look at the highlights here for you best right underneath and again, up over the big tall trees.
They're getting a lot right in and around the basket.
Faith, the offense staying with it makes him pay.
And on the other end, right up underneath April Pressley with 12 first half points but a man director spots the open player beautiful.
There's that nice left handed hook that gave the cat a massive lead Again right now, Dalton, nine of 25 Washington County nine of 28, very close three point field goals, not much in the way they're free throws two out of four for both ball clubs and they can see turnovers in blocks and that's it.
It's interesting the block shots, that's my character's roll right there.
And right now, standing by with head coach Chuck Parker is our own Mark Harmon.
Mark, coach your ball club down three points at the half.
How do you assess the first half of play?
Well, I'll tell you what, we had to come back in and make some major adjustments.
sure.
See a better second half.
It is watching down the team.
What are you going to try to do to get Alicia Gray a little bit more open, more involved in the offense?
Well, we're going to get get some screens going.
We're going to get a couple of things going for, but we got to have everything ready and roll here in the second half.
As battle of Unbeaten does everything it was stacked up to be a is is everything that we expect and we just got to go here and get continue to play.
We got 6 minutes of basketball and we got to get it done.
Coach, good luck there.
All right.
16 minutes of basketball we have.
We'll be back with more.

The Macon Coliseum.
Dave Cohen along with Dick Williams Girls triple-A State Championship.
You go back to top of the broadcast list and some of our keys were on.
A couple of our teams have just not developed.
I mean, Washington County is the principal Gray So they've got to find a way to start getting Alicia Gray, a 28.4 game for former.
She's got three of the first down the cat amounts boxing one defense has been phenomenal on them.
And on the Dalton side of the equation, though, they have the three point lead, their leading scorer at 16.9 points a game Quan McCarty has not scored.
So here we go, third quarter action here in the second half.
Fathi, who best takes the bounce pass back to Shaqiri and Nelson takes it over on the wing Nice screen there by Amber Antoine Back to Nelson Swing it nearside the best Really tough to get anything inside the door.
Go on the way the ball's deflected out of bounds down here here Austin McGraw will put it in play once again.
Chandler McKinney Bird Dogging number 15 Alicia Gray while the others play playing zone Defense.
You know she is stuck to her jersey over there on the right side under the basket.
Nelson feeds download of Gray.
Gray will go up the shot partially blocked ball ends up out of bounds first up by a red jersey.
It will stay with Washington time.
A good defense by McKinney be a swat away by McCurdy.
So McNair again Sierra McClure will put it in play look him in the great alignment out front to Nelson Nelson going to drive through the lane up to McNair for three out of the corner of his up no good great got a rebound run stick back is up and get off the glass and the Washington County crowd like that basket they know they've got to get her going and they're going to end up with an easy one on the other end.
I thought they missed an easy layup if that's the best and down the rebound one.
They had two red jerseys about 20 feet down the floor and nobody here Shannon McKinney will shoot it and this will laughing and dreams for next year which Leslie on the inbounds Andy Howell how alarming down low in the country turnaround shot no good and the rebound to Washington town Nelson into the frontcourt doubles it out on the wing Coach Parker promised major adjustments let's make the best turnaround he lost that ball out of bounds must have been deflected out by Beasley Gore on the inbounds get down here on the baseline Nelson going to chase it down penetrating leaving it up underneath the shot there no good by you best and the first we got to rebound for eight three out of the ball here Leslie out on the wing into the hands of McKinney.
Here's a baseline jumper No good.
Rector got a rebound.
Try to bring it back down front.
April Best Lee Quick touch.
Kenny Off to Matty Howard into the hands of Ricky.
Reset 2423 Gordon with the ball a one point lead but lost it Best late man to man defense by the lady hawks mismatch from the 3000 in return jumper in the lane No good good job boxing out there by the lady hawks rebound to face the best and here's Nelson in the fourth quarter Nelson swings with the McNaught in the corner Great trying to post up now she's denied there Antoine jumper off the glass no good All right Jersey seven the rebound came to Matty Howell out in the first three get to the head director director pushing jumper on the wing is short there by Jalen McKinney and the rebound in space the best gets it to end and Nelson Nelson driving all the way layup was no good that's got him offensive rebound on the step back four points field goal she's got eight tough pressure right there in the ankles is it out of bounds referee throws it away She had three white jerseys surrounding her and they turn it over.
Washington County has reclaimed a one point lead now 2524 into the ball game for Washington County.
Number 20, Felicia Kitchens, five five senior guard averages five points, almost two rebounds, blocks and one McKinney gets a break.
A new player Nelson driving turns gets it off the kitchens traveling violation and Washington County will turn it over.
And Kate Schneider now shadowing Alicia Gray.
Great deal.
So Dalton on the inbounds that will come in director like they're going to quickly push that ball into the frontcourt gets rid of it for the threat the feed it up underneath and he takes Snider shot baseline right side no good we got to find the number in right Andy Kate Snyder cutting it on the baseline contact coming over late for free throws doesn't make it he's a 67% free throw shooter on the field five eight junior averaging 4.4 rebounds Pretty good on the defensive side as well.
64 steals second free throw, though good at the best of the rebound gets it ahead to Alysha great right into the frontcourt Great way to get the ball in her hands to try and break down this defense there she drops push from behind that Yep that'll help.
I think she senses that the better defender is out of the game and that she might be able to make something happen here.
So a full time out here, 4 minutes and 20 seconds remaining in a one point ballgame.
Washington County 25, Dalton 24.
We're back to the Macon Coliseum after this timeout.

Third quarter action.
Washington County with a one point lead over Dalton 2524.
And you're watching a great game right now and you can purchase a DVD of this game and any of the GHC state basketball championships you've been watching or will watch for further details, go online to GHC, dot TV to great service and websites.
Terrific.
During the football season, you watch a bunch of games.
I love it.
Just got the stat look at this one nine lead changes and four ties.
Wow, this is quite a ball game, but it's not the ball game.
We expected.
Elisha Gray has five points.
She averages 28.
Daquan McCurdy has no points and she averages 16.9.
Washington County on the inbounds, they get it right in Alicia Gray, baseline jumper, no good.
And the rebound is going to be batted around.
Finally, Amanda, rector of the senior point guard, picks it up and protects it and I feel quickly bring it into the frontcourt.
A lot of pressure there from secure Nelson Good brings it over here Maddie Howell ball knocked loose Rucker able to pick it up lobs it best league baseline she fell down There's a whistle that's 20 she stepped out of bounds baseline there was a five it's on 32 That's faith your best blocking foul though the second team foul here on Washington County here in the second half and best alley on the inbound right up underneath Raptor turn around jump put this good I like director she makes good decisions it was a nice touch shot seven points in the ballgame for a man director 2625 Here's pass baseline pump fake gets bumped into McArthur who blocks the shot Denver third block.
Third block.
she has not scored She's got a boatload of rebounds and three blocks and she didn't jump.
She just stuck a big block there.
Look, not going anywhere with that.
Thank you.
And so the lady hawks move in the corner.
MCNAUGHT Back up top.
NELSON Floater in the air.
That ball just died on the back of the rim.
That's her first field goal.
She's got three, even got a five.
So the foul is on.
She she carried Nelson in that one down again against pressure 326 to go third quarter very tight ball game one point lead they get it to McArthur the ball knocked away by McClure Here come the lady Hawks Nelson on the way nearside she'll drive right in the lane partially blocked and the pressure just takes the ball away gets it to him the best move a trailer director fires good for three three quarters after the steal by McMurphy three transition fast break three five said I like director he's in double figures now ten points 2927 got by two and that's Richardson near her average of 11 and on the replay driving and there's the foul and so Alisha Gray the sophomore point guard will step to the line and as we learned delightfully, the daughter of the principal, Alan Gray, that's terrific.
And he said he was a coach, too.
So she's probably been under his tutelage for some time.
Six points for Alicia Gray, three in the first half.
She's got three so far here in the second half.
And perfect on those two free throws.
Got seven and we're tied again, 29 apiece.
And as he sees it and Gray drives and lays it in off the glass and Alicia Gray corruption here director the full court pressure here by Washington daddy causing some problems.
Here's Matty Howard backing away in turnaround shot off the glass go good gray with a foul Got a hand in the rebound that was knocked out.
Well I'm going to say Last touch by Mo Andy Howard will check out in the ball game coming back in number 24 Brook Thomas full time out caught by Dalton for Jeff McCaffrey time out here 2 minutes and 39 seconds to play here Third quarter in a 31 to 29 ballgame Washington County leading Dalton against some of the earlier games late on Friday game one.
And you saw the Wolfpack of Atlanta in wheelchair action, beating West Georgia's Wolverines 3528.
And and I guess that's these girls girls for a Fayette County Tigers finally broke through after lots of trips the Final Four beat Forest Park.
It was a win for Miller Grove and the Wolverines over Rockdale County.
6759 Boyce for eight on Friday.
And those are some of the other finals in state final action here.
Well, the big one was last night one when Norcross upset Milton on the five boys.
And I must confess, I went to bed thinking Milton had it well in hand.
And then today we've had the Western girls winning classic.
Then we had the rest of them in their teens and their strong moments.
Well, you never turn it off too early.
Yes, right.
But I had to get down here with you today, so coming out of the timeout in a close ballgame with 239 remaining here in quarter number three crowd getting loud here in the Coliseum and a great crowd for both of these schools.
Inbounds will come into great as he brings it into the frontcourt said a pretty strong second half here so far scoring six over nine points right now trying to come back and take the ball from Nick Moore.
They get it to a nice pass, the best pump fake to keep them getting it blocked by Mark Krikorian.
It's good.
Off the glass and a pick ball on the inbounds.
Take the best with that last basket in double figures with ten points.
Now we've got any catch Schneider playing the box and one on Alisha Gray.
And Gray goes right around trying to turn the corner for three fires and hits a long 3.3 second three point field goal.
She's got six 3629 now.
Washington County heating it up on a nice pass off the glass to get Schneider.
Good for her.
First basket in the ball game 3631, Washington County with a five point lead.
Here's Gray high arching three no good offensive rebound by Taylor Brown.
I'm going to lop it back down front to McClure the feed down low Bess blocked by McCourty looking to pull jump ball that is blocked number four by Quan the 30 and a terrific call by Jeff MacNicol That was just a fine that was the way to resolve that right there though it'll be late academy basketball and a record double team so let's get that ball in play.
Defensive driving coast to coast.
The pass intended for 25 and he takes Snider a little too much on it and a little bit too far behind If he had to reach back couldn't get the ball well enough, they turn it over.
Now it's Dalton's turn to apply the pressure.
Double team on three gets rid of it up the head to shoot carrier Nelson It's knocked away by Richter but right there by McCaw Right place right time picked up the loose ball Taylor Brown jumper not good and a loose ball brought down by investment Here's a man directed up ahead Brook Thomas locked down low to McCarty in the corner the three rims it and rims out there from Snyder rebound McCurdy his shot no good got a whistle underneath so that's why he came out with that rebound young man McCarty with a two shot opportunity 17 points ten rebounds four seasons out and first free throws.
No good.
Second one is good.
That is the first point of the ballgame.
How about that?
Do the funky make the a best?
Now some pressure but a force on defense.
Nelson holds the ball here right side slingshot pass cross-court backdoor catch who shoots and fires and hits a three on the way for third three point field goal The inbounds McCurdy had it it was pretty high.
They're going to wrestle for it and they're going to call a jump ball.
The possession arrow is going to favor Washington.
DOUGHTY The 44 seconds remaining here, third quarter.
Look at that.
Look at that time right there.
Beautiful.
That's a great cross-court pass.
Good vision.
And that's your second three that I remember?
So 33, he's got nine 3930 27. lead here for the lady hawks.
They have the ball here.
Just notice something.
It takes maturity longer to get up for the other player.
Now she is six Five.
That's right.
Hey, LeBron and Nelson up top with Shakira.
Nelson led by Amanda Richter.
She's a good defender as well.
Single digits on the clock, right?
That crosscourt again here's a jumper by McLaurin good rebound brought down by Bessie down to 2 seconds and she got fouled Boy that's a blocking foul on Washington time That's a huge break because there was only 2 seconds on the clock when I looked up I was not going to be able to get a good shot off and I don't really you're not the boss but at least allows them to swell.
Well, I can't shoot.
Yeah, they can't shoot right now.
They're showing all zeros now.
We don't have the digital clock here, so I don't believe they can shoot.
You have to have 3/10 up there for them to be able to launch a shot.
I think what they're saying is if we're going to have a digital clock, that they're going to go by the horn and then let them put it in and see what they can do.
Could be 9/10.
It would be 1/10 where you throw towards the basket and hope somebody can maybe get a chip, try to get it up to McCurdy myself and they got a shot off.
But Robin, at the time, it was close to going in end of the third quarter here in Macon, Washington County, 39, Dalton, 32 back to the Coliseum after these messages from GPB.
I wish that I could fly to the sky high just like a dragonfly.
For the next generation of telescopes, a new quest begins.

I'm not going to be like that guy.
I'm only going to do my house.
I'm not going to end up like that guy back here in Macon as we get ready for the start of the fourth quarter.
But before we do, let's check in with our own Mark Harmon.
Mark, Thanks very much, Dave.
This battle of unbeaten has been like a great heavyweight fight.
I just was in the huddle with Parker, the head coach, Washington County.
He told his girls, Listen, there's 8 minutes to play.
We are up seven points.
I want every shot to be a great shot.
Not a good shot.
A great shot.
He wants every shot to be a great one.
So let's see how that works in terms of how they run that offense and what a third quarter for Washington County.
The lady hawks, they have scored the Dalton cat amounts 18 to 8 in the third quarter.
Dave Yup.
And right now a seven point lead here as we begin play here in the final quarter here and make it girls three state championship Brooke Thomas down low one McMurtry And that's the first field goal of the night Wow Averaging 16.9 that was a big basket cuts it to five 3934 Here's Clay she'll start free throw line jumper is short offensive rebound underneath brown off the glass It took another block by the 30 no play LeBron's first field goal back the other way especially cross court look for the 30 down low off the glass on offense going away blocks and Arkansas Yep so a break there for Washington County they wave that off there she comes.
yeah She got to the spot.
No question occurred He had to pull up there and didn't.
Who took the charge.
32 feet The a best to a turnover out here on the other end is Alisha Gray travels referees will tell you by the way that it's fun to referee the state finals so the coaches never say a word.
There's too much scrutiny on them.
So Dalton, on the inbounds, it will come all the way back midcourt.
Amanda Richter Richter spinning almost lost it Good job there by Nelson defensively the lob it two they got another foul underneath five going to go on I believe that's is that on Richter it is think it is on the for offensive foul on Amanda Richter that's her second personal foul and the fourth team foul here second half on Dalton Inbounds pass comes in to Kayla Brown three a quick touch him in the hands quickly Nelson Superior Nelson into the lane leaves it off for best baseline try to jump stop there Nelson driving into the lane strip reaching reaching director correct they're going to pick up that foul that'll be her third 646 to play here in the ballgame the inbounds pass intended for gray lose but she had just enough to dive and get it back to her teammate Sierra we've got another whistle that's foul on Beasley and approaching Marcus territory Yep which Washington County lady Hawks would like to be in as soon as possible.
Protecting this league.
Lady Hawks on the inbounds the superior Nelson there junior point guard got a whistle foul away from the ball and the against all that's going to be there 16 foul maybe six correction against Washington County and he involves the commitment the Thomas full court pressure here by Washington Tony they work that ball ahead the best route turning around getting it the hands of rector on the wing best Luke try to go to McCurdy in the lane lost the dribble lost the ball was knocked away Brooke Thomas though there picks it up Walton maintains possession and they tried the lob entry again it was deflected but came right back to Dort loose ball and pitched bravely She had three and her shot is short get her own rebound sticks with it second time goes puts her in the double figures she's got 11 here they come up to Amanda Richter.
I tried to draw the player control foul wasn't a very convincing acting job.
They go up underneath a Kurti shot up this good off the glass right underneath on the baseline.
She's got five arches stuck on seven 2336 now three three and go that's for sure.
Wow.
4636 largest lead.
They get to the head to head the 30 here's Richter she'll fire from three.
It is up it is no good on the rebound brought down by Nelson Garrett Nelson gets it ahead to face the best stuff underneath lay up there Good get five from behind McCurdy going to get whistled for that foul Nelson hit the floor pretty hard underneath Maddie Hull Chandler McKinney set to return for Dalton Thomas and Snyder heading back to the lady Kat him off bench any chance of a Kenny on Elisha Gray?
Naw, hotter than a firecracker here That's a kind of unlike the shooting.
I didn't think from her statistics that she was capable of that.
But for three point goals, the average is eight points a game.
But just above that season's average, Nelson gets up.
Well, they've got to take up the slack for Alicia Gray for their 27.9 points a game.
Felicia Kitchens thought she was going to be entering the ballgame.
We've got a time out and it looks like it is a full time out here with 5 minutes and 12 seconds remaining.
4636 Yeah, the defense big play tonight.
That's right.
McCurdy, who averages 16 and a half to the score, is only five at this point.
And Gray averaging almost 28 points.
A game scoring tonight for 11, almost all of them here in the second half.
It's at his defense good systems to set shut down the other team's best player although Gray who only had three through the first half, has had eight here in the second half.
He's been a part of this little spurt here by Washington County that's allowed them to get this lead up double digits.
That's right.
And that 18 to 8 margin in the third quarter by Washington was critical only for the extra offensive zone for out of work level working for this one.
Nick has got a mouth fish.
There's tickets for and there's still a lot of time in this one dip.
5 minutes, 12 seconds remaining.
That's right.
And let's send it to our man on the sidelines by Carmelo.
Hey, thanks, guys.
Coach Jeff McKinney at Dalton just told his girls, hey, there's a lot of time left.
There's a lot of time left and we can run off a string of points lickety split.
He was very calm, very cool, very collected in the huddle.
And he said, We got plenty of time.
Let's go out there and get in the inbox to how she'll give it up.
Director As they break the full court, pressure piled on frontcourt triple stolen by Gray, a two on one gray going to try to take herself and as a follow the play the five to go on 14 April best look because I thought record yes here it comes I thought Richter knocked the ball away the fouls on Richter I think they're going to pick up her fourth personal foul and that's got a concern Jeff McKinney gives Gray makes the first of two throws but gives her ten for the night as she gets that the second free throw.
Good.
And that's what Washington County wants to do The rest of the night, you shoot free throws, 12 point lead that's going to push that ball into the frontcourt time, the key into the water, into the hands of Matty Howard, director Natalie Dow on the way up top.
How will going to fire from three it is up it is good her first field goal here in the second half that's her second three point field goal of the ballgame that cuts into the lead.
Now 3039.
They want to keep it obviously single digits here is this clock continues to watch.
Just over 4 minutes remaining.
That's a pretty cool shot for the sophomore.
We're going to have some ice water in those veins.
Back to your best try.
Jaylen Brown trying, to get the ball to Gray.
Here's Nelson.
Nelson will come back over and take the ball.
McKinney all over Great Again in the corner McNaught For three as he hits number five in the ball game for Sierra McNair, their senior guard.
And she's got a team high 50 inches five out of six, two on one and the lineup is up It is good by Chandler McKinney inbounds they break the full court pressure Nelson It's a traffic finds McLaurin she's filling in for his 63. field goal six out of seven What a night you see Ophelia calls for a timeout with 53 minutes and 27 seconds remaining.
That is cool.
Being in the zone.
Sure.
Is that that thing of that feeling and I've never believed that.
But I'm seeing it tonight where she is, I guess.
Yeah, that's about it.
That's a good three feet behind the line, right?
A good three feet.
She's a happy camper.
5441 bombing away behind the three point line.
And those threes, when they come in spurts like that, that's what provides that separation.
It does.
And it's an almost insurmountable edge right.
I think we don't have her shooting percentage for the season.
She averages seven and a half points a game and she averages.
Yeah, there you go.
That's tonight, 612.
We don't have the season going.
Don't have the season total score So Dalton on the inbounds Beasley going to push it into the floor put it back to Amanda and they fire three from the wing and up they get She follows his shot Great job gets the rebound up underneath and a shot there by McKinney is no good McCourty the offensive rebound the stick back thing the good time that shoots why you keep shooting.
So here we go in the first half is 1146 on threes.
The second half she's five, four, six.
So she's six for two.
That's why you keep you Here's McKinney baseline jumper no good And the rebound Mccurdy's got the rebound fires it up top wrecker jumper here by Howard for three No good long rebound comes out to McCain and it's stolen by security and Nelson she'll drive in the layup is good and here's her left hand it comes down a little funny on her ankle it looked like inbounds and the best route back director 5643 to 29 Tony BLOCK here and make it a 30 they get it the ball one dribble turnaround jumper no good and the rebound and the goal and a traveling violation by the Washington County and so we're going to get the ball back in bounds underneath Johnny inbound of course and Beasley's inbounds miscommunication and it goes back to the spot underneath because it never did anybody in court.
They throw it away.
Whoever was supposed to come to wear it didn't play on the inbounds gets it right back 11 points for her.
She brings that ball a little fly thought here's McCaw jumper.
That one is short And McCurdy got a rebound especially when she's she's six for 13 on threes as the leader board coast to coast Jeffery Nelson comes down the ball in transition Here's hairspray on the wings instead she's going to bring that ball back up top 140 on a Tony o'clock and another unsupported great feeling I would imagine to be on the floor right now with this size of a lead and that amount of time left on the clock.
Well, they got to bust him out of that box and one now and they got a foul and they do the foul there by dance number 22.
Betty Howell watching County fans can feel just like me.
You're ready to go through security.
Allison Morgan, nice even five points for her.
Four of them here in the second half.
Corrections seven and five for her tonight.
Miss the front end of a one and one.
McCurdy got another rebound, forcing a lot of shots short run because every time Chandler McKinney attacks the basket baseline right side they build on the rebound brought down by Greg she gets rid of it to McCaw the spin move took it over back would have been out of it was I don't think she established all three points in the front court with the ball on both feet.
She started to foul got to go on April Bentley with 115 remaining.
Let's see if you're short with a free throw.
She might be tired.
Burns those knees, knocks it down.
Okay, here's the point.
That's the first point she has scored tonight that has not come from behind the 3.16 for 13.
And it comes with a minute, 15 remaining and hit the first one missed the second, 5743 direct and pulls up from the left range jumper good for two victor on the 50 the 12 in the game this is a tribute to Anson County to have this kind of a margin 12 point lead with really Alysha Grant covered up and 16 points below average.
So 1.5 to play in this one and a 57 to 45 ball game.
Washington County on top though.
Recap some more games.
Norcross wins it girls Class five final on Friday 6036 over the Lady Indians off McEachern and Norcross boys also on it and in five with a win over Milton That's the one that you turned off too early to upset Yeah Wesleyan this morning with a win over the Pace Academy lady night 6543 the final there also Wilkinson County over Terrell County 7568.
That was boys class they played earlier today also greater Atlanta Christian six.
A congrats go out to all of the teams and of course all of the winners and of course but Gwinnett was certainly dominant for you.
Best going to take that pass.
Going to get it into the frontcourt.
He got bumped, no whistle.
And Gore gets it back into the hands of Nelson as we're inside of a minute to go with the foul there committed by Kate Schneider falling for carrier Nelson wonderful Southern name and she picks up her third personal foul teams 10th and so that will send Nelson to the free throw line There you see it, 51 ticks remaining and the front end is up and it is good.
Richter returns a Schneider hips to the bench.
The second free throw on the way here and that one is good for a little bit of iron Nelson hits them both 5945 Beasley on the inbounds gets it correct in the pressure from all sides but he pushes it quickly into the frontcourt left side the trailer especially go Gilbride layup is in and up and looks a little foul on the play 44 seconds to play as Washington County kind of ambles toward victory Yes here's the drive and she did not get there on time.
So Jason your best picks up that file and see 12 and six tonight for Besseling as the first runners up it is good that's the first point the second half those 12 all coming in the first half since he's been kind of quiet here third and fourth quarter he saves him Sandy Springs just sent me a text.
He tells me the Washington County was the first county in the U.S. to be named after George Washington before he became president.
And he's still a gentleman.
How about that?
The text that you receive?
Right.
Incredible.
And the other one we won't mention for 40 seconds to go the foul on Dalton.
Going to send Elisha Gray back to the line sophomore guard, not officially 11 points.
Just want to let you know I was technologically hip in my old age race, just a sophomore track.
The team here average I don't think means a lot to her at the moment.
Not at all.
Total as a sophomore.
How about that?
because McLaurin was out there bombing away outside the line, hitting all those threes.
Yep.
Classic case of teammates picking each other up.
Second free throw is good.
13 on the night for Gray 6146 inside of 4240 seconds to go.
His record try to get up and field fire before you do something good red blue with 1561 49 Nelson wants to dribble it out Brunson blocked it up get 11 going to be filed there by Chandler McKinney Jr the principal of Dalton ready for him Don't kill Tyree for half the time This is the magical season with the 32 and all record.
And now I guess the magical season comes to an unhappy ending.
But you can't take anything away from a team that goes 32 and one.
Not at all with a sadness for the moment, but that's a heck of an accomplishment.
Nelson at the line for 20 on officially, with eight in the ballgame, Snider checks up.
Back to the floor is Matty Howell for Dalton shoes in to shoot the 321 remaining 21 seconds that is and then Folsom free throw is short McCurdy got another rebound so the hit director driving away lost the ball and then another whistle cheers from the left side here has the offense received a call that foul might be against Britt but it is against Blake the Sun man director 55% free throw shooting to the line, 15 seconds remaining.
The senior football has played a heck of a ballgame.
Got the ball in our hands most of the games.
You just played a terrific match up is tough on defense.
Jeff Daniels 101 steals defense is all about height and free throw no good Besler got a rebound brings it out back director for three It is up no good and we got 9 seconds remaining.
Coach McKinney calls off the press and they just put it in play.
This one here, he's going to be in the books.
The Golden Hawks of Washington County, the girls three, eight state champions here tonight make it what a fine contest.
Their 32nd win of the season against no losses, 32 and and they take home the big trophy.
It's a great win.
And as the principal said, he said all of Sanders mills closed.
Well, I think they can reopen and celebrate Dalton's, as you said, their season they were 32 and oak coming in 32 and one.
Wow.
A great, great chess match, a great tactical ballgame, great coaching on both sides.
So 62 to 50.
The final score here and make it.
And we'll get back with our postgame from the Macon Coliseum right after this.
And these messages from GPB GPB.

My gosh.
point one, Coach should Parker, 30.
I'm the problem with the microphone.
We use that one.
All right, take that.
Excellent.
What the what?
The county champs 32 and catch Parker.
How does it feel to be perfect?
I can't even explain it.
And I just want to give thanks to my Lord Jesus Christ for allowing us to get this far and allow these girls to come out.
I want to thank the Washington County Fans and Wildlife Church for being behind me all day long.
I have to think it's going to be a hot time in Sanders ville tonight.
I'll tell you what, we may have to open up hosannas tonight so that we can celebrate and get the job done.
It's been a great season for you.
You are number one a lot of the year 32.
And how about that?
I tell you, I kind of did it without my my superintendent, Dr. Hinton, my principal down degree and my principal Benson Jackson.
I just really give it up to all of my girls who came out and fought hard as they do my boys coach, Coach Carlos Hope helped me out tremendously.
So we just think I just want to thank all the Washington County you should be proud of young Lady Hope's.
All right here.
MCNAIR Tremendous.
A senior.
How does it feel to be state?
It feels great.
It feels great.
You guys played a heck of a game out there.
It's got to be proud.
Hold up trophy and tell your fans what's going on.
These guys have been fighting.
that's how it is.
Their state champion, baby.
They deserve that they are El Perfecto 32 And now back to the old Tyree.
All right, Mark, thank you.
Congratulations.
Go to everyone involved in the Waco program coach Parker and his outstanding staff and those girls who really perform well.
And indeed, as Coach Parker said, it's going to be a great time.
And Sanders Gil Tyree, along with Herb White and Scott Jarvis.
Vince, we're going to break this basketball game down now.
And as we've seen a consistent theme throughout today, Scott Ginn of it's this game was put away on a run.
Yeah, it doesn't take a rocket scientist or a sport expert to figure out what happened in this one.
Washington County's full court press in the second half, led by Alicia Gray, gave fits and then a dynamic three point shooting from sinks here.
Sierra McNair was the proverbial nail in the coffin.
You know, we're going to call her Miss McNair.
Her wife, because she caught fire at a right time for, you know, the lady hawks, because they were really this game was nip and tuck and somebody had to decide it.
And you were talking about early, they had a box and won a dominant one on Gray that took her out of the basketball game, effectively took her out.
But then it was McManus who took over.
Well, again, it took her out of the game in the first half.
And I'll be interested to talk to Coach Parker if we get a chance.
Ask him what he told Alicia at halftime because she came out much more aggressive in the second half.
But Jared McNamara's got ten.
That shooter's mentality, man, she missed her first four or five threes.
Didn't faze her at all.
She kept fired away and hit about four in a row.
And like Scott said, that was it.
That's Jo.
Dane would say she had string music and she had ice water in her brains.
I want to ask you this.
Are what the significance right now, two undefeated teams who perform here today.
And clearly we're not going to diminish what Dalton accomplished.
They got here.
They were undefeated, too.
But that one blemish, the loss here tonight.
Well, you can you're right.
One loss between these two teams and Dalton played a great ballgame.
I mean, I don't know how many lead changes there were.
It seemed like there was a lead change every time the ball crossed the timeline.
Tonight, for about the first three quarters, every time there was a possession, there was almost a lead change.
So Dalton just faded a little bit at the end.
As Scott said, the press got to him and then have I mean, you're got hot, but it was tied right down in the middle of the fourth quarter.
You're exactly right.
And Dave Cohen and kick wide Dick Williams, who had an outstanding call here tonight at this basketball game.
Let's look ahead right now, Scott Genova to our final game of the night.
What do we look for?
Well, Columbia's here back again, looking for another state championship and there is loaded, as ever, Taj Shams seed Dean.
Their point guard is one of the most efficient mid range scores in the state.
Al-G key to small forward is dynamic and athletic.
Any scorer in this state and then down low.
Justin Thomas is a big, powerful physical presence.
Butler will match that size with Chris Washington, the reigning region three player of the year and then brothers Ronald Jones and Dan Lambert are also great scorers.
With all that said, guys, if Butler doesn't control the pace of the game and slow it down considerably, this Columbia team will run them out of the gym.
It's been a long day and I want to thank you, Herb White, for what you've contributed 11 games almost in the books, right now, and you've been here for all of them today.
Was all of you, Gail.
And I want to say to you and all the other new folks that have come on board at Sports Central and Georgia Public Broadcasting this year, Nikki, and and you and Mark and the other folks, Jay, you've done a great job and bringing a new energy and a new spirit to Georgia Public Broadcasting Sports.
And we look forward to many years to come.
And we've mentioned some of the great coaches.
We talked about the great coaching out here this weekend.
And I've got to mention a good friend of mine who's also a great coach, Ron Bell, who's it matters for many, many years won a lot of state championships.
He's going in the Hall of Fame very deservedly this spring.
So congratulations, Coach Bell.
All right, everybody, we say thank you.
Still more to come here at Macon, our final game of the night on deck, but it's a wrap here in game number ten.
It is the girls from Waco who go away with the 3A state title over Dalton.
We'll be back with more after these important messages on GPB.
