Live from the Georgia Dome, it's the GHC three eight football semifinals featuring the Peach County Trojans coming in at 12 and one taking on the Washington County Golden Hawks at 11.
And two, the football fans from Forth Valley made the two hour trek up here to the Georgia Dome.
Meantime, the fans from Sanders field are here to cheer on their Golden Hawks in a game that's going to be a great one here at the Georgia Dome.
And we welcome you to the broadcast booth.
Hello again, everybody, and welcome.
I'm Jim Tanaka, along with D.J.
Jones.
This is Game two of ten live here at the Georgia Dome over the next two days here on GPB.
And this is going to be a good one.
This is going to be a good one.
But when back in training camp a couple of months ago, every high school football player, this is where they dreamed of being.
Well, I'll tell you what, both teams come in with some great offenses.
Peach County comes in with an offense that is well balanced, led by quarterback Brian Ellis.
Ryan Ellis is definitely a great, great quarterback, replacing a superstar quarterback in Antonio Hinton.
But he's a young man too strong for nearly 3000 yards, 26 touchdowns.
He's the guy that makes this offense go for Peach County.
And of course, Brian has a favorite target on the field.
His name is Adam Jumeau.
And I'll tell you what, he's better known as W. That's right.
Affectionately known as U, U.
And of course, this kid is not only a great receiver, a great student, he's already committed to Vanderbilt, 54 receptions there, 928 yards, 17 yards per catch.
And we'll be talking about you you a lot.
And meantime, we had a chance to catch up with coach rants Gillespie.
He told us what we can expect from the Trojans.
Well, offensively, we're very multiple.
We're a West Coast offense.
We've even adopted a lot of their terminology and things of that nature.
We're a big zone run football team.
Probably the most important feature of our offense is our line of scrimmage.
It is.
It is quarterback oriented and we feature a lot of different skill people.
Defensively, we we based out of a43 try to give some multiple looks and and do a lot of different things defensively.
We're really excited about our about our front seven.
A bunch of those guys are back from last year.
The secondary was young at the beginning of the year, but they've grown up and done a great job as years going along.
Coach Gillespie, meantime, Washington County, D.J., very strong on defense and offensively they believe in the run, run, run.
They've got a12 punch of the backfield.
Absolutely.
And when you're talking about running and football, Roscoe Walls is a young man that has a tremendous amount of real estate, nearly 1600 yards this season, averaging 7.8 yards per carry.
But again, he got nicked up in the very last regular season game, had a high ankle sprain, hadn't been really effective in the last three playoff games, but he has been graded ready to go for this ballgame.
So if he's ready to go look for a big day of rushing with Washington County.
I'll tell you, another player to look for is Cardinal Coleman.
He is a very strong, talented linebacker, but he can also do some damage on offense.
He's the head hunter on defense, 100 and 110 tackles there for sacks.
But this kid comes from great genes, or Robert Edwards in Terence Edwards, the former Georgia Bulldogs stars like that's their cousin.
We had a chance to catch up with head coach Joel Ingram before the game.
He told us what we can expect from the Golden Hawks.
Offensively, we run the formation.
It's very similar to that of the old Nebraska offense under our coach Tom Osborne, and we like to run the ball downhill and a lot of two Taurean sets and we believe in it and it's been real good to us for several years.
Defensively we run eight man from it based out of the four, four days since we learned three different coverages and and it's another system we've we actually built that idea originally as a jet robbery idea from from Florida State.
And we've kind of taken it and nurtured it a little bit and the way it fits our athletes.
And so we really believe in it.
To D.J., to great coaches, Coach Ingram, Coach Gillespie, he's gonna be a great guy.
It is a great game.
Coach Gillespie coming off a player that a year last year and of course Coach Ingram on the other side has some awards accolades to his credit.
But the best coaches make it to the dome though.
Absolutely.
I we go downstairs now to our third member of our broadcast team and Gerald Oliveira.
Hello, Gerald.
Hello, Jim.
Well, we just heard from Coach Ingram and in his first year as the head coach, we have to remember that things weren't always good for the Golden Hawks.
They started off by losing to one of their first three games and people started to wonder about the program.
But the turning point came on a monday afternoon, in Sandy's view, after their second big loss to Dublin.
The team had intensified practice and coach Ingram says that was the most physical practice that he's seen in his seven years there at the school.
And he said that after that practice he's that team showed him that they were ready to win and that they were not going to quit on the season.
And they in turn ripped off ten straight victories.
And Jim, they're hoping to make it 11 here today.
I understand.
And thank you, Gerald.
It's the three football semifinal coming your way, Peach County and Washington County, as we get it started from the Georgia Dome.
The sky decided, yeah, let's get started.
Let's get it started.
Here, here, loose kicks.
And welcome back to the Georgia Dome.
As you see, the teams take the field under the big top here in downtown Atlanta for the Triple A football semi final.
And what a game it's going to be.
These two teams come in, they're fired up and ready to go.
Absolutely.
And of course, the winner of this game will go on to play for the Triple H state championship game.
So they need to have their eight games here if they speak to fans.
There you see it, Peach County coming in at 12 and one on the air.
The defending champions taking on the Golden Hawks who are 11 and two on the year.
And there you see the Golden Hawks.
And I'm telling you, these guys, they're ready to go.
And they got some nerves going, but they're ready to play some football.
Absolutely.
If you can't get excited for being here, I'll question what's at stake.
You definitely have an opportunity to get excited about it.
Right now.
Only four.
Teams left.
There you go.
Shawn who beat Carver, 16, 14.
They'll play against the winner of this one next week in the triple-A championship.
Of course, it's Peach County in Washington County as we get ready to kick it off here at the Georgia Dome.
What a great game it's going to be kicking off for.
Peach County will be number 11 one.
Rodriguez, he's got a great leg and won one of the football games for the Peach County Trojans back deep to receive his number, 43 Roscoe Walls.
And of course, you'll be hearing a lot about Roscoe Walls today in this triple-A football semifinal.
And we are underway and this one goes straight up and is caught at the 31 yard line by Cardinal Coleman.
He had a fair catch.
And that's where Washington County will go to work first.
And ten on offense.
Well, you noticed they're obviously the Peach County didn't want to kick the ball deep great return man back there in walls and of course Ben Trusty Jordan is the quarterback.
There you see him.
He didn't throw that much because this was a great rushing football team.
There you see Van Trotsky, Jordan.
And I'll tell you what, he he is not known for, like you said, for throwing the ball a lot.
But these guys, I tell you, they love to run the football.
I mean, they're going to run the football.
So expect the clock to run throughout this first quarter as they get set.
So it's first.
And ten and the 31 yard line and walk back and look at this.
Jordan, right off the top hits his receiver and that's a first down.
Good catch by number 31.
Darius lead late right out of the gate We say, oh, they don't like the throw and boom first play of the game There it is as.
To look at the play action pass their quarterback finding lead down the middle Lee is the leading receiver but you wouldn't even know it.
We know with that opening up they don't throw much.
But first play play action pass completion.
Great start here for Washington County.
All right.
Here we go.
On first and ten now at the 31 yard line on the handoff up the get.
To number 20, Deon Harden and we've got a lot to tell you about Harden throughout this ball game.
He has gained over 600 yards in just the three in the playoff game so far this season.
What a great year he's had.
Here's how they line up on Washington County offense.
You got Hicks Brown Best and Brantley and Robinson up front and then you got the running backs as Daniel and Harden, Latimer and Lee are wide receivers and Dansby is your tight end.
That's how they.
Line up for the Golden Hawks and the handoff goes to number 20, Deon Harden and Harden.
Gets to about the 43 yard line good run by Deon Harden.
Meantime, here's the defense how Peach County lines up.
Here's that front four of CAC Armstrong, Everett and Collins the linebackers are Herrington, Wimberly and Pierson and back deep is Jackson Simmons battle and catcher great defense for Peach County.
First and ten at the 44 for Washington County and the pitch goes to number 43 Roscoe walls turns the corner he's at the 40 walls is on a bounce close to the 30 yard line.
A big play and a first down for the Golden Hawks knocked out by Tavares Simmons.
Roscoe Walls is the superstar running back for Washington County.
And as you see here, just taking a simple toss play, beating everybody to the corner.
And you can't coach that.
That's pure speed and an excellent run by an excellent running back there.
You see the low angles coming in right in your living room.
Great shot there.
As Wallace heads down the sideline.
The wall is obviously going to be alternating with Harden number 20 as well.
But you take a good look at him on the sideline.
Taking a quick breather.
Meantime, first and ten.
Golden horns, they're down.
That one at the 30 yard line handoff off the gut.
Deon Harden.
We mentioned off the top the Golden Hawks like to run D.J.
Absolutely.
And Deon Harden uses a phenomenal athlete.
Folks, you're looking at probably one of the premier high school athletes.
He's not only an exceptional running back, but he's also a heck of a cornerback.
We are just underway here at the Georgia Dome and Washington County is already driving down the field.
They are at the 28 yard line of Peach County and moving quickly, one pass, playing a few running plays.
And now it's second and eight.
Lock step.
Count pinch goes to hard look to turn the corner and is finally knocked out of bounds.
At the 24 yard line.
Good defense by Peach County from letting Harden break loose on that play.
As you take a look at Harden here, he's another speed merchant here getting to the outside.
They have a great pursuit angle there taken by the Peach County Defense.
There you see Harden's numbers on the year 104 for 937, but he's had over 600 in the postseason.
What a postseason party that's been for Deon Harden.
Third and four big play coming up for Washington County at.
The 24 yard line pitch.
It goes to Roscoe Walls.
He turns the corner, he gets to about the 15.
And that will be enough.
For first down for Washington County great run by wall stop by Kip Pearson.
Right off the bat, you can see the burst explosion there by walls.
And I'll tell you what you hear in Heigl's playing here that he's been battling a couple of weeks, but we can't tell here in the early goings.
Another great shot of Roscoe walls turning the corner as the Hawks continue to grind up the yards in the early going first and ten at the 15 yard line for the Golden.
Hawks, three back set in the backfield and the handoff goes to number 43.
Roscoe Walls and Walls is caught up at the.
Line of scrimmage.
Good defensive play by Peach County, led by number eight, Terrance Hatcher.
And Peach County.
Obviously, the defensive line does a great job of pushing, as you saw there, getting penetration.
And that's what they're going to have to do.
All day in order to stop Washington County's running game.
So that'll leave a second.
And ten now at the 15 yard line to back to the backfield one wide receiver set left and here's the pitch to Harden and Harden maybe picks up a couple on the play as Peach County starts to get tougher in that red zone.
Big hit by Kip Pearson.
They're meeting him up inside there.
Take a look at it.
Just another tough play here coming right at you.
Watch.
Pearson's the first one with his head on him.
And of course, three or four more Peach County defenders swarming.
And as we said, there's defensive room for Peach County to hold Washington County here.
But as we said, Washington County's going to look to eat up that clock, T.J., and they continues to.
Run on 39 didn't play for the golden had drawn looks in the end zone a receiver touchdown Darius Lee tremendous job again play action faking of course running the ball running the ball and all.
Of a sudden you play action pass and you hit your leading receiver.
We saw the first play of the game, something similar.
But taking another look at it right now, great play action pass there and getting open in the back of the end zone.
Tremendous job by Lee with the catch and the touchdown.
He had Trotsky Jordan looking and he looked so comfortable in the pocket and then fires great pass and Lee makes the catch Ethan Jackson on to attack the extra point for Washington County has their lead at six nothing.
Here in the early going here's the scramble hold the.
Kid gets up and it's no good.
It's off to the left and Washington County has the early lead.
Six nothing.
So there it is, the Golden Hawks strike.
First we take a timeout here from the Georgia Dome.
More first quarter action coming your way right after this.
Back here at.
The Georgia Dome, there you see Washington County has struck first they lead it six nothing on the 15 yard touchdown pass from Jordan to Lee and now Peach County back deep to receive the kick.
Chris Postel is back deep for Peach County and Ethan Jackson is set to kick it off.
Check that number five, Daniel Johnson will kick it off for Washington County.
So a quick start out of the gates.
And as we mentioned, they just the Golden Hawks drove downfield, mixed it up, passing game and running game and also take some precious time off that clock.
Let it be known that Ben Trusty Jordan deserves a lot of credit because he did not ask to throw a lot.
But obviously the two plays the first play and the last touchdown, exceptional job, great poise and that.
So here we go with the kickoff and now there's a flag on the play.
This one's going to be brought back.
There's a flag on the play.
So it looks like this one's going to go against Washington County.
Guys, a little anxious here.
That ball foul oh five on the kick and take five yard penalty return.
So there's the call.
So now Washington County will back it up five yards and kick it off from the 35 yard line.
And of course, it's Daniel Johnson.
That'll do.
He's doing the kicking for Washington County.
Good shot of the football.
We've got a great team here.
Technical crew just covering every angle here at the Georgia Dome for the semifinals, coming your way for two days, two full days today and tomorrow.
Live on GPB.
All right, Jim, we play here.
And here's Johnson's kickoff.
And it's a sprint right down the middle and fielded at the 25 by Peach County and brought down at the 38 yard line is Brian Harrington.
Harrington, a junior at 591 95 with the return.
And now Peach County goes to work on offense.
And there's Brian Ellis, who we talked about in the open, D.J.
having a great season.
Take a look at that.
417 yards is his best passing effort in the game, and that's a tremendous amount of yards for a high school quarterback.
First and ten Peach County at the 38 yard line, Brian Ellis right under center now looking to call an audible He does and now drops back three step.
Fires Whiteside intercepted by number 13 Cordell Gladden and Gladden races for a touchdown First play of the game from offense on the offensive side for Peach County and surprise surprise and Washington County thanks to Cornell Gladden timing that play gives the Golden Hawks a 12 nothing lead.
Well, Ellis automatically audible.
He saw something he didn't like, worked out tremendous job by the defensive back Cordell Glanton jumping the route and stick it in in the end zone.
Great job on the defensive secondary there Rowdy Gladden.
Read that or one perfect strike and oops Mr. Gladden in the way and there's an easy touchdown for Washington County they are now going for two.
You see if they can get 14 on the board now, join in the end zone and convert it to Antonio Danza.
So the golden horns, not only come up with the big play on defense, but then they come up with a two point conversion.
And take a 14.
Nothing lead early on here.
I'll tell you what, man, we got Ellis, who we thought didn't know coming in with all the stats but Vince Brandon Trust Jordan has taken over in the early going and has the best passing quarterback in this game.
There's a look at the cornerback that picked up that tremendous pass and got in the end zone for Washington County.
That's right.
A 42 yard interception and then this touchdown pass are two point conversion.
Nice touch by Jordan.
The Antonio Dansby.
And here's the interception one more time and look at Gladden read that perfectly and then it's a race down the sidelines.
Nobody near him and an easy six for Washington County.
Tell you what, the way the defensive back broke on that ball, you can't coach them.
That's not that's something that's new.
He was aggressive and obviously he believed what he saw and he stuck it in the end zone.
Difficult.
Johnson will kick it off for Washington County and back deep for peach county to receive is chris postal.
There you see, chris, we're number four.
One thing about this Peach County offense is that they could strike from anywhere on the field, down 14 points here early.
But I don't think that that's enough points for Washington County to sit on.
How well you knew that Washington County was going to come after them.
I mean, Peach County, the defending champs, they're the favorites coming in.
And the Golden Hawks don't want anything to do with that.
Here's the kick off by Johnson.
It's fielded at the five by coastal coastal at the 1015 and is brought down special teams play by the Golden Hawks.
By Darius Lee and also by a number well, array of Golden Hawks on the special teams as we see it up here from the from the press box here just great play by the by the Trojans, by the Golden Hawks.
Also Brad Jenkins on the play.
For a very early on here.
Obviously the mood is Washington County in their favor.
OC back on offense is Peach County Brian Ellis you quarterback so far they've had one play so far they've given up one.
Play for six to Washington.
County.
So here's your second play from scrimmage after 15 and the handoff to Mario Howard and Howard.
Pounds his way for about five yards on that play.
Here's your starting offense for Peach County.
Up front, it's right range Nelson Everett and right is your center.
Then it's Howard and Brown and good running backs out.
Why did you Marshall and Searcy and Davis is your tight end and look out for you mo better known as you you as DJ said at the top of the show.
That's Brian Ellis, his favorite target.
Absolutely.
Brian Ellis definitely needs to just settle down right now.
We know that he is he told the command this offense.
Let's see how this thing plays out.
This could be a passing play here on second and five.
Ellis no decides to hand it off.
And again.
It's Denzel Brown this time getting the call.
And it looks like Brown has a first down.
Here's Washington County's defense.
The front four is Dansby.
Robinson Pinkston and Kelsey your linebackers are Gladden Coleman and Swint and back deep it's Harden Lee Grant and Watts and you'll notice a lot of those names also play on the offensive side of the ball.
So I mean, these guys are getting a workout today in the semifinal game.
B.J., there's a lot.
Of football left to be played here, but we've seen the great football game thus far.
First and ten for Peach County at the 27 yard down, then in emotion, run down the left side.
That's the range of brown.
Brown breaks loose to the 40.
Brown is at the 50 rounds at the 40, still going at the 30 and finally brought down around the 20 yard line by Cordell Gladden, who makes a saving tackle.
Otherwise Brown is gone.
A great individual effort here by the tailback Brown is.
We'll take another look at it.
Evans takes the handoff from Allen.
He starts out to the left.
But you see some open field running here that you just again, you get it.
You just have to have great eyes, great vision and great agility and a tremendous effort by the running back from Peach.
Got it.
54 yard run by Brown and boy that one it looks great coming into your living room right there finally brought down by Gladden there snap Brown's numbers on the season 62 for 369 average six yards on the play and six touchdowns first and ten then the handoff goes to number six to Enzo Brown again.
And Brown just pounds it up the middle for another four yards on the play.
Good Play by Randall Brown.
But definitely pitch count he seems to have settled down and of course brand Brian Ellis and this offensive football team realizes that they have dug a hole for themselves so they're doing the right things to get themselves back in this ball game.
Of course.
BRAND Joe Brown, as you fans, especially in Fort Valley know, was hurt for most of the season.
We'll talk about more on that later in the broadcast.
Second and seven for Beach County.
At the 11 yard line, one man in motion to step back.
Ellis drops back the path.
His right side has a man, but it's incomplete.
He intended for you to humor.
Of course.
You you, D.J..
Absolutely.
But the defensive back on the play, Dion Harden.
Again, I'll tell you, he's a tremendous running back when he was asked and called on by Washington, kind of to fill in for walls.
But this is the position that I noticed on tape watching him play.
He breaks on the ball, he mixes it up.
He's a tremendous athlete and he's a tremendous defensive back.
Golden Horcher very tough in the red zone.
I mean, have not allowed a lot of points throughout this year.
And now the Peach County is there.
They're going to toughen up on D and make it tough for quarterback Brian Ellis and the offense third and seven.
Big play for the Trojans as they try to answer on Washington.
Kelly Ellis drops back looks by his website has a million hits Tony Davis and Davis is thrown out of bounds at about the three yard line Good catch by Tony Davis Stop by number 18 then Terrace Grant.
Well, here's another look at the play and you wonder how this kid is throwing for nearly 3000 yards.
But you check the progression there.
That was his second option after, of course, looking down the field.
But again, you have to be able to come off of your first read of is not there.
And he goes over to his outlet with his back out of the backfield again, keeping the chains moving.
Now first and goal.
From the three for Peach County and the handoff straight up the middle touchdown Mario Howard and Mario.
Howard gets the call from three yards out and goes untouched.
And Peach County scores at first touchdown of the game.
D.J.
Well, you got to give a lot of credit to those young men up front there.
I'm talking about the center right, Everett and Barnes, the actual guards there.
But you know what?
That push up front that you saw was a tribute to those offensive linemen open up the hole so that the running back could walk right into the end zone.
Juan Rodriguez on to attempt the extra point.
The kick is up and it's good.
And so just like that, Peach County strikes like lightning and they are back within seven of Washington County.
Here's a replay of the touchdown.
You see there.
He didn't get he didn't get touched.
So that tells you that the offensive line for Peach County did a tremendous job on the defensive line of Washington County.
Boy, I tell you what, the folks from Fort Valley and Sanders feel they are being treated to a great, great football game.
So far, both teams scoring in a big way.
Again, the handoff to Mario Howard.
And boy, I tell you what, he makes it.
Look, I think I could have ran through that hole.
In fact, I know you could have ran through that.
Great play by the Peach County offense to open that open the parting of the sea there for Mario Howard.
You know what?
This is what it's all about.
High school football.
You see the band there?
I mean, there's the coaches on the sideline.
You got the fans in the stands.
I mean, the all the community's coming together, rooting for their teams.
There you see the cheerleaders.
I mean, D.J., you remember the days.
I do remember the days.
And in fact, the bands, the tremendous support that they have for these teams.
I wouldn't be hard pressed if you interviewed any one of the band members.
I guarantee you that they are.
They would tell you they're just as responsible as being here as the football team.
And those guys have a rhythm.
Look at those guys.
I mean, they're doing an excellent job.
And of course, you know, there's a ton of busses that come up from Fort Valley and Sanders ville, and these kids are just excited to be here in Atlanta during this holiday season.
Semi final football action from the Georgia Dome, the GHC has ten games over the weekend here on GPB and it's just an incredible schedule.
If you love football, this is the place to be.
All right, Juan Rodriguez off kicks it off and back deep is Deon Hahn.
But that's not going to go back that far.
It only goes to about the 25 yard line.
Fair Catch is called for and made by Cardinal Coleman.
And that's where the Golden Hawks will go back to work on offense first and ten de Jack.
Well, you know, I have a chance to see Peach County play Lagrange a couple of weeks ago.
And the kicker there, the way he's doing that, kicking the ball to that spot on the field, that's something that's always playing and that's what they did against Lagrange.
So obviously they feel that they trust their defense to go ahead and line up at that spot rather than kick the ball deep and giving the opposition the opportunity to run it back on it.
That's right.
Okay.
So the Golden Hawks start at their own 26 yard line first.
And Ted led by number four.
Ben Trusty Jordan, the quarterback, and Jordan ends up up the middle.
That's Dion Harden.
And Harden picks up about six yards on the play Good run by Dion Harden.
You know, I mention the Peach County offensive line on the touchdown, but just on that last play, boy, a tremendous job by the Washington County offensive line.
They're getting a big push there and responsible for that pick up of about five yards.
Speaking of five, just under 5 minutes to go here in the first quarter as the Golden Hawks come up to the line on a big second and four play against the Peach County Defense and the pick from the backfield.
And that's Harden again.
And Harden goes nowhere this time.
Good defense by Peach County stop by a couple of players and I'll tell you what that swarming defense of the Trojans has got an eye on that offense of Washington County.
Yes, indeed.
I'll tell you what the on tackle there.
Big Deon Armstrong, tremendous job there, getting his hands in there and tripping up the running back there.
Harden So we have a third down and about three to go for the Washington County Golden Hawks.
Coming up on 4 minutes left to go.
In the first quarter.
Paul Trusty Jordan under center and.
It looked like Jordan tried to draw him offsides and a delay.
A game is looked like it's going to be called against Washington County.
That's all right.
You noticed that a lot of times there when it's third and short, they're trying to get the defense to jump offsides.
However, it didn't work on that play ball.
Paul DeLay, again, only up in the five yard penalty, you know, talking down.
And Danny Westbrook's referee makes the call and so the ball is spotted at the 28 yard line and that'll bring up a third down and eight.
For the golden horn.
Jordan What's back?
Looks like five intercepted big defensive play by peach Patty Jenkins intercepted on the play.
Intercepted by number 16 Tavares Simmons there you see him.
He has scored off the field after a great defensive play.
DJ, you.
Take a look at this.
And obviously Ben Trask in Jordan is just looking at his receiver the whole way.
Great.
Jump on the ball by the defensive back.
And obviously when you look at a guy all the way down the field, you make it that much easier for the defensive back to jump in front as you see them taking it off clean and making a tremendous play for Peach County.
So Peach County.
Now gets the ball at the 36 yard line, the Washington County on first down the ball.
Is carried and a good pick up by number 12.
Peach County, Mario Howard.
We made mention just a few minutes ago when Washington County was out front by two touchdowns.
You know, that didn't mean a whole lot.
Of course, based on the offensive production of Peach County, you see that they were already within a touchdown and half the ball back ready to tie this thing up.
Howard picked up six on the play.
That brings up a second and four for the Trojans, a Peach County.
Man in motion on the play.
Here we go.
And the handoff and straight up to get the towel in again.
And Howard crosses.
Inside the 20 great run by Mario Howard and the fans will love it stop by Keith Swint And then Terrace Grant.
Look at the push of that right side of that offensive line there.
He ran through the door clean and again, he didn't see anybody until he got into the secondary, ran right past the offensive, defensive line through the linebackers and getting hit there in the secondary.
Now Peach County is in the red zone of Washington County at the 19 yard line, first and ten.
There's the numbers on Howard for the day.
Four of 24 rushes for 25 yards and a touchdown.
And a handoff again.
And it's Howard trying to turn the corner on the left side.
Can't quite do it.
We have a flag on the play he's brought down by number ten.
Brandon Watts.
Brandon Watch did a good job getting a cross and of course, cutting off the runner before he got to the outside.
And a lot of hustle out of that Washington County defense.
That's going to be an offensive hold against Peach County.
And so they're going to have to march backwards.
There you see your officials for this one.
Westbrook is your referee, umpire is Asher, Zimbardo is the lineman line judge is Flores back judges Lee and the field judge is Ron Griffith, the great Atlanta area football Association for referees is here for GHC.
Here's Danny Westbrook's.
Holding only off in ten yards Felt it was part of the foul.
Ball first down.
So now it's a first down for Peach County they back it up though to the 28 yard line and I believe they'll call this a first, a 19.
There you see it on your television monitor at home.
Hope you enjoying the games here on GPB.
Then In Motion you have three receivers to.
The right, one to the left, one set back first, and 95,000 men complete the Chris Post going.
Postal comes up with a great pickup he's finally knocked out of bounds at about the 12 yard line Good play and catch by postal.
You have to like what you see with Brian Ellis at quarterback as he gets into his drop there, navigating the field and obviously going underneath to the back, coming back across the field.
And obviously, again, like I said before, just keeping the chains moving.
You don't have to go for the big, big chunk at one time.
Just sometimes you got to check off underneath which he did and again picks up the first down and keeps the chains moving.
And it is at the 12 yard line.
It's actually a second down because of the penalties.
Second and three for Peach County.
At the 12, the anchor get to the nine yard line handoff and it goes to Howard again.
And Howard is pretty much stock whole once he got the ball from Ellis good defense by the Golden Hawks that front four is tough.
It is tough and you talk about the front four Washington County had Cody Robinson and Emmanuel Kelsey too big defensive lineman on the inside there in the two tackles there, Antonio Danzy and Edward Pinkston.
Under 2 minutes to go till halftime between Washington County and Peach County.
Of course, the Trojans are knocking on the door.
Excuse me.
And until the end of the first quarter, D.J., I'm having so much fun.
It's just like I feel like it's going pass of.
Going by so quick.
Three It can happen.
MAN That's right.
Third and three.
Ellis with the handoff to enzo brown trying to break free mitro.
The Golden Hawks read that one.
Perfectly good, tough defense by Washington County.
As you see Brown on the handoff.
What makes this play is Darius Lee coming up and containing.
There you see him, number 31, the Washington County defensive back coming up in and forcing everything to go back inside.
And all of his buddies came over to finish everything off.
Juan Hicks, number 67, came up with the big hit from Washington County.
Now it's a first in goal for Peach County.
At the seven yard line, one man in motion and a handoff straight up.
The bell goes to Enzo Brown.
Brown fights his way inside the five yard line as we're under a minute to go.
In the first quarter.
Brown was running like a man.
Nick had his nose and knows how is.
But the end zone smells like.
But again getting them but getting his team in position to tie this game up after falling behind 14 points.
It's a big credit to Prince Gillespie's Peach County offense.
So they market at the five will be second and goal for Peach County at the five yard line as the Golden Hawks look to get tough on.
Defense.
Great shot of quarterback Brian Ellis man in motion two wide receivers to set back the handoff fumble and it's picked up by number 30 Jack Moss Moss makes the recovery.
He was knocked.
Out by the Rams though Brown lost the ball and Jack as.
Jack was Moss picked up the loose ball.
Good defense by Washington County.
That's exactly what you've got to have if you're Washington County, if you expect to win this game.
But very unusual, a turnover by Peach County's offense, very few interceptions and certainly very few fumbles up to this point of the season.
Very crucial turnover, too, with only 14 seconds to go in the first quarter seem like Peach County had some momentum already.
Three turnovers in the game.
The Trojans have to and Washington County starts first and ten way back on their own four yard line picks to be on Harden and Harden maybe picks up a yard on the play.
This is this is the point on the field when you're a defensive team, even though that was a turnover, you're pinned years back.
All right.
We have reached the end of the first quarter.
Washington County has the lead after 12 minutes, 14 seven over Peach County, second quarter action coming your way next on GPB.
And welcome back to the Georgia Dome.
There you see Washington County with the lead.
Let's go downstairs to Gerald Elibiary.
Gerald.
As we get ready for the second quarter, take a look at Shaquan Hicks, number 67 for Washington County, extremely physical on that offensive line.
He's only been playing football for two years.
He actually started off on the basketball team and the head coach on the basketball side said, maybe you need to go out for football.
He did that.
And he's a big reason why Washington County is able to run the football so effectively.
Thank you, Gerald.
I'll tell you what, what a big play he plays.
In fact, he comes up with a big block there on the left side does Shaquan Hicks.
Hicks, by the way, six three £325, a senior, only a second year football teacher.
But obviously great footwork being a former basketball player.
But you saw on that last play was able to reach the linebacker and get on him pretty quick.
Ball's mark just inside the ten yard line so Hicks is division one prospect and boy I tell you what he's going to have some big years for the next four years on any college team in that level.
It's going to be incredible to watch him third and four for Washington County.
Of course, that offense led by number four, Ben Truscott.
Jordan and Jordan with the fake now looks downfield fires has a man good.
Defensive play by Peach County and tempted for the Darius Lee was your intended receiver and a good play on defense by number 16.
Tavares Simmons a peach countered.
Well Jordan, the quarterback did a great job of both play action and faking and hiding the ball.
But I'll tell you what, the defensive back there, Simmons did a great job all over Derrick Lee.
So that brings up a fourth and four die.
Hill Johnson will be back to punt for the Washington County Golden Hawks and back deep three seed is number six Durant's are brown standing at about the Washington County 42 yard line so it's going to be good field position to pitch count it here's the kick and over end ball hits it the 37 and takes a Washington County bounce and look at this Peach County's going to start in their own territory.

We know that you guys in all the counties in Georgia love seeing their football, especially in the postseason.
First attempt to Peach County thrown 47 yard line on the handoff straight up the middle.
And that looks like Mario Howard comes up with a nice run and gets into the Washington County Territory.
Looks like the mark that ball at about the 47 yard line.
So a pickup of six for Mario Howard.
Jim, I want to note that that was a tremendous stop by the peach kind of defense to give themselves an opportunity once again to tie this ballgame up after holding on, after our turnover.
There you see a good shot of Mario Howard, second and four from the 47 handoff.
Howard, again.
Oh, this time he's met in the backfield great.
Defensive play by number nine Keith.
Swint Swint came across on a stunt there and boy he knife right into the backfield and stoned him right there you see him that jersey coming to the picture there and the course stopping him right in his tracks.
So Peach County.
Loses two yards on the play and that sets up a third and six.
Here you see Keith Swinney's numbers on the year, a great year for Swint, number nine for Washington County at the 49 of Washington County.
Now there's Brian Ellis, the quarterback in motion.
Three wide receivers.
Set blocks Ellis drops straight back fires Left side has a man.
The pass is complete to number seven.
Keith Searcy, good play.
You can only appreciate it on the replay here.
As you see, Ellis drops back.
And you know what?
When you talk about buying time, watch him step up in the pocket and deliver this touch pass.
Tremendous, tremendous play there by a tremendously skilled quarterback, beautiful class there, soft touch for the great yardage there in the first down.
Good concentration by Sears.
He has to see his numbers on.
The air falling down and still able to make that catch.
Great play first and ten at the 34 yard line here's Ellis looks fires Whiteside has a man and he again comes up with a big play And another first.
Down for peach County brought down by number 20.
Deon Harden as you see here, that, you know, this guy can throw any kind of pass.
Ellis And I'm talking about the quarterback from Peach County, this time on the roll out to the right.
And seriously, man, I tell you what, when you talk about catching the football, watch how he plucks this one out of the air and catches it with his hands.
This is the one you should teach the kids how to do.
And Little League football.
Reach out there and plug it with your hands.
Interesting to note that Ellis is, of course, is the quarterback.
There's sushi on the right side.
He's the backup quarterback.
So, hey, you know, he's got some good hands to catch that ball.
That's right.
First and ten, the 16 yard line handoff up the middle.
Good defense by Washington County is Duran.
Joe Brown is pretty much stopped at the line of scrimmage.
Coleman in on the stop there and again you know he is the guy that is the leader of that defense for Washington County.
But a great play by a great linebacker.
Time keeps clicking away.
825 to go till halftime as you see that Washington County defense.
Hey, once Peach County gets into that red zone, the Golden Hawks, their antennas are up.
They're ready to go.
It's almost that old adage, Ben, but don't break.
That's it.
Second and ten for Peach County.
Brian Hill, this again is your quarterback.
Two wideouts to the right, one step back, one man in motion, and the handoff up the middle is Durango Brown.
Brown breaks loose Touchdown Dillon Zone Brown.
16 yard touchdown run by Duran Brown and Peach County is within one.
Great job here of course by Peach County offensive line there's brown breaks a tackle gets outside and it's all over by this thing and he's in the end zone.
And you're not going to contribute to that right?
Not at all.
Not not today, anyway.
And the kicker and to attempt the extra point is one Rodriguez there's the snap the whole the kick gets up and we are tied with 759 till halftime.
Peach County 14, Washington County 14.
And D.J., I mean, this is it.
I mean, what a great game.
It is a great game.
And as you see, take a look there, the hand down there.
Brown breaks and tackled after getting some great blocking by his offensive line and just waltzes into the end zone.
But we said early on, again, when you talk about in this scoring play, he's kind of his offense is one that can strike from anywhere on the field in a large part of that credit has to go to that tremendously.
Post quarterback Brian Ellis being able to throw every pass roll out, able to drop back.
We saw him step up in the pocket, get the ball to his receivers and again, this team is never out of it.
That's a well balanced attack that Beach County comes in with.
As you look at Antoine Hillman, the fullback on the sidelines, and and of course, some of the other players, there's the scoring drive, 66 plays, 53 yards.
They end up just under 3 minutes.
And, of course, Brown with a 16 yard touchdown run.
And, you know, again, it's 14, 14, two great football teams.
The folks from Sanders ville loving it, the folks from Fort Valley.
We had a great three day game before this one, D.J., I mean, this is this is football heaven here under the dome.
By the way, congratulations to the Shore Raiders out of Columbus, Georgia, playing in the state championship game next week.
Short kick.
And it's taken by one of the men, Cardinal Coleman number 42.
And this time he didn't call it their catch.
He he ran it up there.
And that's where Washington County will take over first and ten on offense at the 48 yard line.
One of the reasons that Coleman didn't catch it because he's also a fullback and backup fullback.
So he's very familiar with moving around with the ball.
Also understand this young man is a very intelligent one, takes a lot of honors classes.
And again, one of those kids that isn't a true student athlete.
Absolutely.
In a division one prospect.
So, I mean a great athlete.
Here's the catch in the backfield that Roscoe was as they got that real triple threat if you will Walsh and Harden.
And of course, Coleman is a great fullback and Washington County can come at you with anything, including a mascot.
Yep.
Let's say, you know, when you look at these guys, you know, you about walls and you talk about Doug Darden, this backup running back, you know, these guys, you hold your breath when they get the ball because, you know, they can take it the distance.
Because the mascot is Trojan man for.
All right, let's go.
And the handoff, Roscoe.
Walls and walls is knocked out of bounds at the 45 yard line.
A good shot of Roscoe Walls as he heads to the bench.
I'm thinking Coach Ingram, obviously the coach of Washington County, doesn't want to get into a shootout with with Peach County.
Take a look here at of course, what they do best is running the football.
They're top running back Roscoe walls.
Look at the stiff arm there.
They ran out of real estate.
And again, our technical team is all over.
And what a great shot as he came towards the sidelines, third and three for Washington.
County and in the formation on 33.
And here is.
Van Trotsky Jordan under center and Jordan handoff that's Harden Dion Harden and he is stopped right away at the 45 yard line good defensive play by number five, Kip Pierce.
And there you see him on your monitor.
Kip Pearson is the baller on the defensive side for Peace County.
And when I talk to some of the coaches earlier today, I say give me two good players on defense.
And his name was one of the first one that jumped out at you.
Kip Pearson there with the great technique.
Clock continues to run under 7 minutes till the half time of the Triple A football semifinal from the Georgia Dome.
In downtown Atlanta.
Big play as they look to go for it on fourth and three.
Jordan Brooks fires hazard man what a catch by number 31 Darius Lee Great individual effort by.
Lee as he was blanketed by the defender Tavares Simmons from Peach County.
As you see Jordan releases a wonderful pass there but that was a great individual effort by Darius Lee the ball getting there notice the defensive back in great position but Lee going up high and getting the ball in his highest point and bringing it down for the catch.
And a good stop by Tavares Simmons to make sure Lee didn't go any further down the field.
And now it's a first and ten at the 31 yard line for Waco.
Looking back then, Trotsky, Jordan feeling.
Good about what's going on there, looking like a balanced attack offense.
Today, Harden gets the ball and goes left side, tries to get loose, can't do it.
Harden is finally stopped by a couple of guys from Peach County, including number 16, Tavares Simmons and number 14 Marquez Collins.
When I look at running back Dion Harden, number 24, Washington County, I get excited because he's probably one of the more explosive athletes that I've seen in high school football this year on both sides of the ball, had the opportunity to watch some tape and see him have the tremendous three games.
And in the playoffs where he rushed for nearly 300 yards.
But he's an explosive athlete and of course, he's a big weapon for Washington County.
Second and seven from the 28 yard line.
The pitch goes right side that's beyond Harden looking to turn the and Harden does turn the corner and finally knocked out of bounds at the ten yard line by.
Number 16 to Baron Simmons.
But you just saw.
A little bit of what I was talking about as far as explosiveness.
This young man, you put him at running back, he produces you put him at defensive back produces.
But look at him getting on the corner out, running the angle, turning the ball upfield and getting the extra yardage.
Folks, you don't see that happening often, guys out running angles the way this young man is doing right here and getting the extra yardage.
This he's been a workhorse in the postseason, as we mentioned, coming in over 600 yards in the three postseason games.
Incredible job by Deon Howard.
And there he is stepping out of bounds.
They market at the 11 yard line first and ten and the pitch again goes to Roscoe Walls and wall scores from 11 yards out.
What do you go here?
The heating the walls obviously is the star.
And he's the the number one tailback.
He comes in after his buddy.
Gets a tremendous run and he just sticks it in the end zone.
Check out this pitch from Jordan to walls and walls cuts it up inside and takes it to pay dirt.
It's walls.
It's harden.
It's Harden, it's walls.
And it's fourth.
It's Washington County with a 20 to 14 lead on the attempt.
The extra point is number 12, Ethan Jackson for Washington County.
Not to be impressed with those two running backs in the running game, but a tremendous job as well up front by the Washington County offensive line, the snap.
To hold the kick.
It's up and it's hook left.
No good.
And so Jackson misses his second of the day.
Washington County, though, has the lead as we take a timeout from the Georgia Dome.
Golden Hawks lead it over the Trojans 20 to 14 back here at the Georgia Dome.
And Washington County has struck again.
They lead it 20 to 14 over Peach County as they march their way down the field.
Roscoe Walls, there you see him, ended the scoring drive of seven plays, 52 yards, 2 minutes, 40 seconds with an 11 yard touchdown run.
And boy, I tell you what, he's a he's hot topic over there for the Golden Hawks right now between him and Harden.
Well, keep in mind now, he had a little injury there the last regular season game.
So he's really missed the last three postseason games.
But boy, if he's getting healthy and timely, as is what's happening, he picked the right time to get healthy.
Dickel Johnson will kick it off for Washington County.
Geico Johnson, by the way, also plays in the band, so he's going to be busy on the field as well at halftime rather than making the trip to the locker room.
So, I mean, talk about a guy that plays a lot, a lot of football, a lot of music.
Very talented.
Back deep is Chris Postel.
He takes it at the court, the Peach County to the 20 and fumble by postal question is why is he down already.
Meantime Washington County picks it up at the 30 yard line.
They say postal was knocked down and Quincy Hall makes the recovery for Washington County.
Well, he fumbled after getting a tremendous hit.
There's a flag on the field, but take a look at this.
A tremendous hit by Brandon.
Watch to get that ball loose.
And you see him there is both watch and Daniel in on the tackle watch the steal down on the ground and he's up Tremendous job of covering kicks there by Washington County That's how you get it done you ever heard of head hitters Jim Headhunters Yeah.
Yes.
Well, that's what you need on on kickoff coverage and punt coverage.
I think that's why I quit playing football.
And, you know what?
A lot of people really don't don't realize that you can use this as a play.
I mean, just like that turnover that was created there by Washington County, man, putting guys on the special teams to go down and drive that ball loose, you know that that always helps.
Turnovers on the day there you see Peach County with three, Washington County with one, and those turnovers are costing the Trojans in a big way.
They have an illegal blocked blow the way and the run back the foul is the plan.
Will be first down for you.
Danny Westbrook your referee for today's game makes that call look like he wasn't quite down but he was he wasn't down when he fumbled the football in Washington County, of course, recovering great plays there.
And so now the Golden Hornets will take over at the 31 yard line, a Peach County great field position as they begin on first and ten with 506 to go.
To tie drop that gives joy looks back to who runs it out of.
Bounds.
Intended receiver was number eight Antonio Dansby good coverage by the Peach County Defense.
Great decision by Jordan to get the ball out of play a lot of young quarterbacks think that they have to force the ball in and make a play when there's no play.
But Jordan, after, of course, looking down the field and seeing that he didn't have anybody open, was smart enough to get the ball out of bounds.
And of course, you live to see another day second down.
We're at the five minute mark left till halftime at the 31 yard line first and ten for the Trojans.
So some of the earlier for the Golden Hawks and now it looks like we might have a some movement on Washington County.
And this won't be brought back five yards.
Shaquan Hicks, that big offensive lineman that we were talking about a little earlier, was quick, got some quick feet and obviously a little quicker than it should be.
This on this play.
That ball, foul ball start only up in five yard penalty the past that.
So gets backed up there's total yards on the game Peach County with the edge but they also have the edge in turnovers and that's why they trail in this one by six to Washington County.
Here's the handoff.
This is Walls again, Roscoe.
Walls trying to break free.
Good defense by number five, Kip Pearson, a Peach County D.J.
Absolutely keeping contain on the other side.
They're on the outside.
They're a lot of real estate for back as explosive as walls but just a great defensive effort containing the play and forcing the stop.
Clock continues to run.
We are at the 430 mark now and counting until halftime and the ball is marked at the 33 yard.
Line on a third and 13.
A big play for the Golden Horn Jordan handoff.
Dion Harden following his blockers.
Muscles his way to about the 2726 yard line on the play stopped by a number of peach County defenders, including number two.
Sam Wimberly.
Absolutely.
And again, this is where the defensive line for Peach County, the strength of their defense, comes into play.
Big Armstrong Collins effort and certainly up front there, they have to obviously hold here to keep Washington County out of the end zone.
They market at the 27.
There you see Trojan man for Peach County.
Oh, God.
Oh, he's cheering them on.
Difficult Johnson into a 10th now.
A 43 yard field goal snap is good the hold is good The kick is up and it is good.
Darko Goal.
Johnson connects from 43 yards.
Tremendous job by the kicker for Washington County after struggling somewhat with the point after.
I guess this guy's better long you know kicking the long ball as opposed to kicking a little short pads.
Well, I tell you what I think.
I think you got to say, Daniel Johnson, 43 yards.
I got the bad, wonderful effort.
It's always great to see great kickers in the high school ranks.
And again, when you're fortunate enough to have one, especially this time of the year, it always is to your advantage.
What a great leg.
Great kick by Daniel Johnson.
What instrument does he play, by the way?
Do you know?
I have no idea.
Maybe trombone.
Well, we'll see here shortly.
He's only five, six, £140 and senior and boy I'll tell you what, it's going to be interesting to see how how fast he gets out of that uniform.
And it's true.
I'm willing to bet that he's going to probably even perform in his in his football uniform.
Yeah, he's probably right.
Chris Post draws back deep for Beech, Gowdy and of course, Dakota Johnson will kick it off for Washington County.
Washington County now has the lead, 2314 over Peach County.
There you see your time remaining in the first half.
Johnson kicks it off.
This one is back deep and this one hits the end zone and it's a touch back.
So Peach County will start at their own 20 yard line.
And here's another look at Johnson in that 43 yard field goal T.J..
Absolutely.
And again, you know, the strength of strength is obviously there.
Is he actually kicked the end zone about the kick the ball, the kick off into the end zone, about three yards.
I think that could have gone 53 yards.
I mean, what a incredible kick by Dekel Johnson.
And, you know, that's something to take note of.
If you got a close game at the end, Washington County has to come back.
Hey, what a great player to have on your sidelines.
I like it.
I like it.
First and ten.
Peach County at the 20 and in motion to send back to receivers once put one one right Ellis on the three step trap hits his receiver hops you all know.
And you you is looking good down the sidelines.
D.J.
Hardy call him out of bounds at the 45.
I thought he was gone.
Well, you you I tell you, he's affectionately known.
Then you know what?
Cool hand Brian Ellis just sits back there in the pocket and waits for him to come clean and pick them up.
Dylan Of course, he was off to the races there, taking a look at it right now.
Look at the poise as he stands in the pocket, finds his receiver coming across the field.
And you you got a nice little burst there getting away there, but stepped out of bounds right there.
Otherwise, he could have been still off to the races.
Absolutely.
Another great shot of as it comes towards your living room, here comes you.
You.
What a great nickname.
Absolutely.
First and ten for Peach County at their own 45 yard line.
This five step drop looks over the middle, has a man the pass complete to use him you mo.
Again great catch Pick up of a few yards on the play stop by number 42 Cardinal Coleman.
Been giving a lot of credit to Brian Ellis here, the quarterback.
But obviously Rance Gillespie has a tremendous offensive scheme here and these kids have bought into it.
You know, Brian Ellis was just put into a situation where he was to stop filling the gap of a great quarterback.
This is the same team last year that threw the ball exceptionally well when Antonio hit and with the quarterback who's now at Ohio State.
And of course, he's playing for a national championship on January.
Second and six at Ellis.
Again, with the deep drop that looks over the middle, has a man and it's dropped this time by you you use them.
You mo great receivers all throughout the year for peach County and you know, I mean, let's face it, he's human.
You can't catch every single one of them.
But I guarantee you, if you talk to him right now, he'd be the first one to be upset because that doesn't happen normally with you.
You he doesn't drop passes there.
You see some of the coaching staff on the sidelines with the the players being called in for Peach County as we continue down the field.
That's, of course, Rance Gillespie.
And here's quarterback Brian Ellis under center at the 49 yard line on third and six.
Look at this.
Throw and catch.
Great play as Sheridan Thomas.
The tight end comes up with the big catch on a big third down call.
Now getting answered.
We take a look at this replay here.
You'll see Ellis back and he'll hit his time in on a skinny post right down the numbers.
Great execution, great timing is involved with the completion of this pass.
He gets another look at it from another lane and another angle there.
Great timing.
Great catch.
You notice using the hands, not using the pass to traffic.
Great catch by number 86 Sheridan Thomas now a first and ten three wideouts set backs to Y out to the left on a first and ten from the 25 yard line a man in motion here's Ellis drops back sets up the screen that's Mario Howard Howard looks to break loose and gets down to about the 1314 yard line stop by number nine.
Keith Swint Gillespie's also a great job on playcalling here again, getting some excellent yardage on a screen play, but just setting the Washington County defense up for that particular play.
There you see Coach Gillispie on the sidelines calling the next play balls marked at the 13 yard line.
There's Ellis numbers on the day eight of ten, 129 and one interception.
He'd like to add a touchdown to those stats if he can right here as they're in the red zone of Washington County.
Man in motion to run off to set ball to this and a straight back end here and then.
No throws left side has Chris postal Postal comes up with his second catch of the day stop by number ten Brandon.
What's you want appreciate this play until you see the replay of what post off the body control that he actually he had to do it almost a 360 to get his body back in position to catch the ball with his hands.
Tremendous play by postal.
And so we have a time out on the field with one minute and 4 seconds till half time as you take a look at that great 360 catch by postal and almost lost his helmet on the play.
Yeah but you know what when you when you talk about and when you watch this Peach County offense in the execution of the quarterback and the receivers, you know, a lot of time and a lot of practice has gone into, of course, these guys getting to this level.
So, you know, you don't just come out and just catch the ball with your hands.
You don't just come out and throw these touchdown passes unless you've spent a lot of time and a lot of repetitions.
Yeah, that's right.
We had a chance to catch up with Coach Gillespie to talk about the special things about his team of the Trojans.
You know, last year last year was a great year for us and one of the schools for first state championship.
But the kids coming back and going back to work and, you know, remaining hungry, it has been a it's been really nice.
And, you know, these kids have been easy to motivate.
They've come out and gone to work and none of them have tried to live on last year's success.
And, you know, we've taken the approach that it's a that's a whole new ballgame, a whole new year.
And and they've really bought into that.
And, you know, it looks like they bought into that.
D.J., I mean, they're fighting out there.
I mean, defending champions.
Boy, I tell you what, they'd like to make it back to back.
And they're working hard at it right now.
One minute, 4 seconds to go till halftime.
Ellis drops straight back.
Looks Whiteside has it, man That's Newton you know Touchdown here you have.
Another great play by another great quarterback receiver duo We talked about these two just a few plays ago, but these guys have worked together a lot of time in the spring, in the summer.
And of course, what they're doing right now shouldn't surprise you.
You see there with the drop there, Ellis is back, finds his man, you, you and you, you gets it into the end zone.
Vanderbilt is going to get themselves one fine receiver and you you.
And on to attempt the extra point is one Rodriguez and the kick is up and the kick is good so Washington county now with just a two point lead as they lead Beach County 2321 with just under one minute to play till halftime.
And here it is again great pass by Ellis.
Well, you can't help but get excited when you watch this offense begin because you know this is what you do when you grow up.
You throw the ball and get them in the back yard.
When you're playing with your friends, you know it doesn't take a whole lot to get excited to play in Rance Gillespie's offense here with pitch, count it.
Here you go with the touchdown.
And Peach County looks very balanced.
Of course, the he'll be headed to Vanderbilt next year there's the scoring drive Peach County seven plays 80 yards just to 21 off the clock.
And, you know, with a ten yard touchdown reception and yeah, strike up the band.
These guys are happy they're back in the ballgame.
Yes, they are.
And again, you know, I want to talk about this big county team against Washington County.
Because they have a tremendous squad.
But the versatility, the way they're able to run the ball and pass the ball, it's fun.
And they have excellent special teams.
And again, those and down in the Fort Valley area, I know that they get excited about playing football because when you have a wide open attack, everybody can get involved.
And a kick by one.
Rodriguez is short one.
That's about the 20 yard line picked up by Roscoe Walsh.
Walsh has the running room for the 3540 and gets out to about the.
42 yard line.
Good return by Roscoe Walls for the Golden Horn.
Well, Roscoe Walls is no stranger to kick kickoff returns.
He returned four kickoffs for touchdowns during the regular season.
He's a tremendously dangerous kickoff returner.
You see him here giving look at it.
But the thing about it, his ability to change directions and to burst, that's the most important part about being excellent kick returner.
So now the Golden Hawks have it.
It's Mark actually at the 41 yard line first and ten total yards on the day, Peach County to 50 Washington County 142 has been Harden gets the ball on first and ten and Horton picks up a couple on that play.
Running into the tough right side of that Peach County defensive line is number 14.
Collins number 99, Everett on the right side of that Peach County defense.
It looks like Washington County's going to settle for that two point lead going into halftime.
Stay on the ground as the clock gets to 20 seconds till, halftime, second and seven.
And the handoff to Deon Harden and Harden has some room and gets inside the 35 yard.
Line.
He gets to about the 34.
A great run from Deon Harden of Washington County stop by Sam Wimberly, number two and number 16 Devera Simmons.
Here get another look at that speed on the corner there by Harden OG tell you what man this guy can probably I'm sure that he might be a sub ten 500 meter guy this guy can really, really burst.
So as we have 10 seconds left to go, of course, the ball's at the 34 yard line.
There's you see the numbers on Deon Harden versus North Hall.
What a game.
Ten rushes, 278 yards and three touchdowns for the senior.
He has had an incredible postseason.
But as we have 10 seconds left, one of the things we were talking about was that man right there die Cal Johnson.
The ball is set right now at the 34.
That would give him a one yard kick.
His last one was 43, but he kicked it long enough where it looked like it could have gone 53.
So will they bring him in?
It looks like he's warming up and getting ready to come in.
D.J.
Well, I'll tell you what, I really at this point don't think that Coach Ingram has anything to lose.
And definitely this is an opportunity.
And we're seeing here that he's not going to bring him in.
So apparently they're going to take one more shot.
So it might pick up maybe another couple of yards and then call a time out and bring Johnson in.
So in the meantime, it's first ten at the 34 yard line.
They run this line, they run a kick.
It's Roscoe Walk.
As soon as he gets down, you can look for them to call timeout they do.
And on dye colt Johnson for Washington County now that.
Makes it more believable that that last one would have been really a stretch but obviously getting picking up several more yards that maybe that gives him the kick or the better opportunity to be successful.
So the ball is spotted at the 27 tack on seven is 30.
So this could be a 44 yard attempt.
They look like they're going to spot it at the 43.
So it's a 43 yard attempt.
So the same distance as the last one, Nicole Johnson lining it up.
This is an incredible weapon to have on a high school football team, a kicker that can give you a chance to.
Put points on the board when you cross the 40.
4 seconds to go.
Last play of the half.
Here's the snap.
The whole the kid gets up and Johnson's kick is good.
Don't go.
Johnson hits another 43 yarder to close out the first half, and Washington County has the lead.
2621 What a play by Johnson.
Here it is again.
There was no doubt about it.
He snuck it in that, left upright.
And let's go downstairs to Gerald Oliver Journal.
Hey, Jim, I'm here with Coach Ingram.
Before the game, you said you were going to have confidence in what got your team to this point.
How would you assess the game playing so far?
Oh, I don't think we're doing a good job right now.
Page County, their credit, they're doing a great job sending us.
We're not getting movement up front like we need to.
We're not slowing down offense.
They've shot themselves in the foot and help us out with turnovers.
But we can't keep doing this.
We can't get a score in that speech.
COUNT Are you getting a score, man?
Speech count of you're you're just you're you're filling your wings too much.
But you just come out second half, try to move the ball, move the chains and establish some long drives.
Roscoe Walz had a touchdown earlier, also had a big return just a minute ago.
Just talk about how good it is to have him back in the lineup.
It is it is a he's still not 100%.
But, you know, we're having to roll the dice as point here.
But he's doing it.
He's been a good complement to Dion just got to keep like I said we got we got a ball control the mood of.
Change well good luck in the second half coach back up to you, Jim.
I thank you, Gerald.
Here is the kick one more time from Daniel Johnson of 43 yards.
He only stands 561 40.
The senior does, but he's made two from 43.
And that ends our first half from the Georgia Dome.
Washington leads it over.
Peach County, 2621 halftime festivities coming your way next on GPB.
And welcome back to the Georgia Dome as we kick off the halftime festivities, Washington County leads in at halftime, 26 to 21.
The Golden Hawks marching band is on the field under the direction of band director John Hillsman.
The drum major is Jamal Wilcher.
There are 130 band members, and they're playing to the sounds of Motown.
There you see Diko Johnson.
As the half ended after the 43 yard field goal took off, his uniform headed out, went to go pick up his instrument, and now he's playing with the Golden horns marching band.
And there he is.
And I promise you, he's coming out with some high energy here and playing that instrument down the field.
Here we are, the Golden Hawks marching and the Golden Hearts marching band under the direction of John Hillsman.
Go downstairs to Gerald Oliver.
Gerald Thanks a lot, Jimmy.
Now, this is the seventh year for Washington County.
Seven time they've been here in the dome.
Your fifth time as the band director?
I'm pretty sure it's still special.
Every time you come.
Oh, every time you come, it's great.
It's something you look forward to and hope for all season.
And when you win the third round, you know you're coming.
It's a great week.
I'm getting ready.
I know it's also special because your daughter plays in the band.
What's that like?
Yeah, it's been pretty neat.
I've had both my kids in the band.
One of them's a music major for the university.
My daughter Nels, a trombone.
It's a lot of fun to teach.
Your own kid is great.
Now, Danco Johnson had a couple of big kicks in the game, a couple of good field goals, but he's also out there on the field.
How does that whole arrangement?
Well, it kind of is a unique thing.
Doc has been a band student for a long time and he started playing soccer when they started on soccer program.
Well, Coach Ingram, those guys found out he could kick.
And here we are 242 yard field goal scoring tonight is great.
Also understand that you're a pilot and during the playoffs you actually fly the coaches back and forth to exchange game players.
What happens there?
Well, what we do is after a ballgame, you know, of course, we went out, we'll go flying search times after the ball game.
It just makes things a little bit faster, you know?
It's a lot of fun.
It's great fun between me and the coaches and we have a great time.
It goes got a unique school, you know, everybody pulls for everybody.
We want them to win.
They want us to do a good job and we do whatever we can do to help one another.
And I know you get a lot of support from the community as well.
Oh, yeah, that's great.
And so does the football team.
And of course, you know, this being Joel's first year there, it's just been a great year for him.
And, you know, we're.
All just real happy for him.
Following in Rick's footsteps, those were some big shoes to fill, and he's done a pretty good job at it.
I think when you're based on a good out there and we're going to get ready for a Peace County bid as we wrap things.
Thanks for stopping along with us outside.
Back over to you, Jim.
I thanks, Gerald.
We were at halftime at the Georgia Dome.
We'll take a time out, come back with the more halftime festivities.
Washington County leads Beach County 2621.
And welcome back to the Georgia Dome.
It's halftime between Washington County and Peach County.
The golden horns lead the Trojans 26 to 21.
On the field right now is the mighty Trojans marching band under the direction of band director.
Donald.
Clark, not 190 band members on the field.
And they will do some numbers including Georgia on my mind respect and what else but that midnight train to Georgia, the mighty Trojans marching band.
Let's go downstairs to the general delivery drill.
Hey, I'm here with Donald Park, band director, the county.
Now, just talk about how much it takes to get into a performance like this, how much preparation goes into something this.
Or at least very good performers here.
We started our own back in the beginning of the school year at the end of July.
It took us about three weeks to work this particular drill and all the songs.
This is our main contest show that we take to competition with people from Hopkinsville in the latter part of September and got all the periods it so I was real proud of their guy.
Now I know you no stranger to the dome piece county has been here several times.
You know, just talk about what the feeling is like.
Every time you go.
It's always the students are always excited about coming up to Atlanta and being able to play in the Georgia Dome.
So, you know, it's a lot of hype and extra school spirit that goes into everything.
Think and just talk about that spirit from the school and from the community and all the support that you get in the band.
It's just wonderful.
Wonderful.
You wouldn't believe how the community backs us up, the administrators and everything.
We have a lot of support, everything we basically want.
They give it to us, you know, in order to get ready, you know, within reason that I would.
Thanks a lot, Mr. Clark.
Let's send it back up the gym as we get ready for the second half.
Good job, Gerald.
Here are the first half highlights of our Triple A semifinal.
Of course, Waco struck first Vandross, Jordan to Darius lead great.
Job of play action pass there hitting Lee in the end zone.
Brian Ellis then got picked off on this play by Cordell.
Gladden Lattin getting the great jump on the ball and take it in and in the end zone Waco.
Had a 14 nothing lead than Peach County struck back Mark.
Howard great job by the offensive line for Peach County.
Duran Joe Brown just got the call then and that made it 14 oh.
Another great individual effort by the running.
Back.
Back came Waco and Roscoe walls.
Walls.
The speedster gets the corner for the score.
And then Dakota Johnson, the first of 243 yard field goals.
And man, he had it.
He could have gone 53 yards on this one and a creditable kick by Johnson.
And then it's Ellis again this time to you, Mo.
You bowl and he scores the touchdown It's 2321 bring on Johnson just before the half before he strikes.
Up the band with a 43 yarder again and Waco takes the.
Lead 2621 And that's our score halftime and there you see some of the numbers passing yardage Peach County with the heavy edge.
Washington County rushing yards with that heavy edge.
No surprise.
No surprise, indeed, the time of possession seems pretty even there.
But again, we got a lot of football left here in the second half.
Incredible football game, indeed.
A lot of scoring.
It's almost like a heavyweight fight as you've watched this great, incredible game between the Golden Hawks and the Trojans.
And now we'll take a timeout and come back for the second half kickoff right after these messages from GPB.
Welcome back.
It's halftime.
Washington County 26, Peach County 21.
Let's go downstairs.
Gerald O'Leary, Jr.
I'm here with Coach Gillespie and now there were several turnovers in that first half.
What do you think was the cause there for that?
Oh, I don't know.
I thought we came out.
A little tight and maybe relax in the second half and just play football.
And just talk about, you know, the experience of being here in the Georgia Dome and what you're planning to do in the second half.
A lot, you know, I think is a great experience for these kids.
And these kids are excited about being here.
And, you know, we just need to settle down in the second half and play our game.
All right.
Well, thanks a lot for stopping with us.
Good luck in the second half.
I Thanks, Gerald.
So there you have it.
What a great football game.
And and now Washington County will kick it off the Peach County.
There you see the Golden Hawks lining up to kick it off.
And Daniel Johnson, who ended the first half with an exciting 43 yard field goal, second 43 yarder of the game, then went and played for the band.
Now he's taken his is his musical instrument.
Put that to the side football uniform back on.
And here we go with the second half and Michael Johnson will do the kicking.
Chris Postol is back deep number four for Peach County.
And here we go as a second half, action is underway here, 24 minutes away to find out which team goes to the championship next week against the Charlotte Raiders.
And here's a great return by number four, Chris Postol.
He brings it out to about the 17 yard line stop.
By number 11, William, Daniel, Daniel and number 15, Brad Jacobs.
You can definitely do a great job in kick coverage when you have a kicker like Daniel because he can get some elevation on the ball and he can drive it deep.
So again, they're getting a great opportunity here to line up on defense with Peach County backed up.
If you're just joining us, that man, Brian Ellis, is the quarterback.
Peach County having a great day, great pocket passer.
The Trojans are known for having a well-balanced offensive attack and they've done a great job today as a first and ten at the 18 yard line to right out to the right on first and ten.
And Ellis hands off.
To Lonzo Brown.
Brown turns the corner and gets up past the 35 yard line to the.
37 yard line.
There's a flag on the play and get the feeling this one might be called Stop was by number 18 Ventress Grant and number 42, Cardinal Coleman.
Tell you what you can tell by the speed of that play alone for Peach County that they were re-energized at halftime there.
But Brown went on the corner there and was basically one tackle away from taking it all the way.
And it Coach Gillespie, not exactly happy with that one, but tough way to begin the second half.
And Danny Westbrooks will make the call here.
Our referee holding up an ten yard penalty for what follows a foul foul first half.
So a holding call sets them back ten yards and the Trojans will begin first and ten at their own.
Ten.
You saw that shot there of Cameron Miller actually getting held there on that play offensive lineman from Washington County.
So first and 18 from their.
Own ten yard line Alec straight back drop looks over the middle fires has it one complete two Chris post good.
Nice catch by Postol He gets out to the 31 stop by number 13 Cordell Gladden and number 31 Darius.
Lee check the poise here of Ellis in the pocket know he's going to get clobbered, which he did, but he was able to deliver the ball down the field for a big chunk of yardage.
I'll tell you what, he can fire that football.
And he definitely took a big hit and he knew he was going to get.
That's when, you know, you've got a kid, a tough kid is going to stand in there, take his gloves and keep going first.
And ten at the 31 for Peach County.
Man in motion, as we have to point out.
Well, he signed a one set back on first and ten with 11 minutes to go third quarter handoff to Winslow.
Brown and Brown gets to about the 35 and is stopped quickly by Jack has Moss number 30 and number 97 Craven Miller.
Nice job by the Washington County defensive front They're getting penetration and swarming to the ball causing the ball carrier to get back get off of his initial track.
Sets up a second and six now for Peach County again two wideouts for Peach County.
As Brian Ellis is your quarterback Elvis fake handoff drops back looks downfield has it man fires complete to number seven Keith Searcy surface go on his feet and finally brought down by.
Then Terrence Grant.
Fox you won't even see it in high school you won't see it in college any better than this.
A great job once again stepping up in the pocket.
Take a look at the replay.
Kyle Ellis, first and foremost great ball fake steps up to avoid the rush and drills the ball down the middle look at these hands of Searcy.
Wow.
Tremendous job.
Just again, a lot of repetitions, a lot of practice.
If you want to throw the ball and catch the ball like this, you've got to put in the work.
Quarterback Brian Ellis 49 yards to backup quarterback and wide receiver Keith Searcy and a first and ten at the 16.
Yard line for the Trojans Ellis handoff right side to Winslow Brown looks to turn the corner Clyde is knocked out at about the one foot line Knocked out by.
Number 18 Then Terrance Grant.
Talks to tell you what you're talking about, taking it to the edge.
You won't see it done any better than that.
And I know there's a great guy on the other side there, harden up there, can do it.
But look at this, outrunning these angles and getting to the corner that's wanting it, folks.
That's definitely wanting to get it in his own.
And check out the shot by number 18.
Ben Terris Grant big right here at the end of the play.
Huge in.
Bang who's.
He like that, huh?
That's another reason why not play more.
First in goal for Peach County and handoff up the gun.
And they try to plow it in big number 99 Ray Field Everett is a defensive lineman, checks in at over £300, brings back memories of the fridge and the Chicago Bears.
Check out this play here.
Unbelievable.
You won't believe this, but I actually played against the fridge.
I was playing with Green Bay on that Monday night clip that they show all the time.
I was an outside linebacker coming over in disbelief after he closed in the end zone.
Oh, my.
£350 of it.
That must have been a sight.
Oh, man, I tell you.
So they market at the.
Well, there you have it.
It's about a foot, not the length of the football to the goal line for Peach County second down and goal great shot from our crew handoff up the middle and one of defensive the Rams O'Brien tried to get in and the Golden Hawks come up with a great defensive play at the line of scrimmage.
Wow.
Take a look at these tough guys up front for Washington County, Cody Roberson, number 52, Emmanuel Kelsey, 55.
These guys are playing tough up inside.
There's the initial hit by number 42.
Cardinal Coleman and Rod Lattimore.
Number three was also involved in the play for Washington County.
The crowd yelling defense it's third and that long.
To the goal line ALLEN Handoff over the top touchdown the end zone Brown.
Great job once again and just getting it done again me against you offensive line against defensive line the offensive line we're able to get the penetration on the defensive line and you see the running back from Peach County able to take it to paydirt.
Terrific drive here.
The whole all in all this this was a great drive that ended up for six points for Peach County.
And so Peach County leads 2726.
So with a one point lead, it looks like they might go for two and increase it to three, three points and it looks like that's what they're going to do.
So Brian Ellis is in at quarterback, the ball set at the three yard line as they go for two points.
Man in motion.
Is brown and now we have a flag and.
This one's going to go against Peach County.
So now DJ, they get backed up five yards.
Now they have to play.
For two in mobile delay delay day only offense five yard total.
So now now they back it up to the eight.
Do they go for two?
Are they going to kick it?
Well, believe it or not, if they were going for two and throw it pass up before the penalty, the chances of throwing a pass and it working is better because you have more room, you have more room and more lanes.
So we'll see how this works out for.
Ellis good point to wideouts to step back to the backfield.
Ellis One man in motion is Lanzo and his Ellis dropping back rolls right.
Look for the end zone fires and this one is incomplete.
It looked like it stayed up in the air, you know, was.
The intended receiver and almost picked off, it looked like by Cardinal Pullman number 42 is the play again as he rolls right and throws against the green and there's Coleman almost with the interception.
HUME almost comes up with it and then it falls on the ground.
Absolutely.
One of the few times that you see a quarterback from pitch counting that that's doing something that you don't normally don't teach it, throwing against the grain.
Is this really a big.
No?
No.
But he almost got away with it.
Well, there's a flag on the play, so they might replay this one.
Boy, that would be a big break for Peach County.
Well, personal foul up in the passer on the defense at the distance.
So the go 352 down.
Roughing the passer so that puts the ball back at the four yard line.
And it looked like Keith Swinton Cordell Gladden really gave Brian Ellis a shot as he was rolling right after releasing that football.
And so therefore, Peach County gets another shot at it.
Two wideouts to the right as they look for the two point conversion.
Ellis looks left.
And has a man touchdown Peach County Durant's on Brown two.
Points the two point conversion Boy he got.
Away with one there and Ellis lofting it out there and I thought that ball hung in the air little long, but it came down in the nick of.
Time.
Nice play as you had the two wideouts to the right, but yet Ellis goes left and gets his running back coming out of the backfield into Randall Brown.
A great play.
Nice play there.
And again, Brown stretching out and getting it across the goal line for the two point conversion.
Again, when you look at the mechanics of this quarterback for Peach County, I mean the ball fakes in and his release, I mean, his mechanics, this kid has been very well coached fundamentally.
Sound bottom line.
I tell you what, D.J., this is incredible.
First of all, the scoring drive by Peach County eight plays 82 yards, just 312 off the clock and Brown caps it off with a one yard touchdown run and then, of course, a two point conversion.
And this heavyweight fight just keeps going back and forth between Peach County and Washington.
And what's more impressive when you talk about that last drive by Peach County is that the run and play calling mix up there.
Gillispie has done an excellent job, as he has done with this Peach County offense.
I'm just making great play calls and mixing it up.
Juan Rodriguez is set to kick it off.
Washington County looking for a squib.
They're playing up on this one short kick by Rodriguez.
Big catch is called for by number 42, Cardinal Coleman and he makes the fair catch at the 25 yard line.
And that's where the Golden Hawks will go to work first and ten at the 25 yard line.
This game can also be viewed live on the GPB Internet site around the world at WW dot GP dot org.

That's W WW dot GP dot org.
And there you go.
You can show the family over Christmas, the big games you did down here at the end of the game.
All right.
On a first and ten call, it's Roscoe Walls getting the call and he he gets about three yards on the play stop by our Cuevas Searcy.
One thing I want to say here going into the second half here then walls obviously have coming off of a high ankle sprain and now it's late in the game.
You know, it's going to be real, really interesting to see how he holds up because, again, you know, he hadn't had a whole lot of playing time.
So that conditioning level might not be what it was.
Second and seven for the Golden Hawks.
As you get a good shot of Rawls in the backfield and it's walls again on the carry and now he turns corrections and goes back the other way.
It's 35 and knocked out of bounds at the 39 by number 21 Desmond Jackson.
Regardless of whether the conditioning level is definitely his quickness is still right there.
As you see him change directions, come back right at you in your living room.
So the ball is placed at the 39 yard line.
First down for Washington County, Waco, looking good.
Peach County just as good as they have the lead by three, 8 minutes to go third quarter and it pitch it goes to Deon Paul and Harden is knocked out of bounds at the 45 yard line knocked out of bounds by number 14.
Marquez, Collins and number 16, Tavares Simmons.
I want to hear how hard the hitting is.
Going on down stairs.
Listen to this.
I know that's some heavy duty hitting DJ back memories.
I definitely I got a feeling though that's one of the main reasons why you're probably sitting up here, huh?
You got that right.
Second and four from the 45 quick snap count.
And here is Harden.
And Harden gets to about the 49 yard line.
Good defense by Peach County stop by number 99 Ray Field Everett.
The defense indeed but you almost you hold your breath every time one of these running backs and you saw harden comes off and and his buddy comes on.
But these guys, they can take it to distance folks.
I mean, these are great running backs and they can score from anywhere on the field.
There's our sound operator and we have a bunch of students working this game and they're from Coosa High School.
We thanks the high school for their support in helping us here at GPB to bring you these games live statewide.
Okay, here's the pitch to Roscoe.
Walls and walls with a big run gets inside the 40 to the 39 yard line.
Good stop by number 16 to Barry Simmons.
And definitely a great stop, but a great even a greater effort up front.
As you look at the replay here, check out this pulling guards and these linemen here out in front, providing the way for or paving the way for walls to pick up this excellent yardage.
And another first down for Waco.
They keep driving down the field and keep running the clock.
D.J., as we said, in the open of the show, and it's under 630 to go now, third quarter a first LT the 39 handoff walls walls is stopped immediately.
In fact, he takes a two yard loss thanks to number 99.
Ray Field, Everett.
Rayfield did a great job of coming across and stopping that plays, but he's been in on big plays on defense all year long for Peach County.
He's a big man.
Yes, he is.
I'm looking at this shot here.
And boy, I tell you what, here he stands head and shoulders above a lot of those guys on the defensive front for and I take a size 12 I think he takes about a size 17 shoe.
It looks like.
All £255 of it.
Yeah.
Six to incredible athlete.
Defensive end for Peach County.
Here's the pitch.
It's Deon Harden again getting the call and he not gets knocked out at the 39 yard line stop by number eight Terrence Hatcher.
Great effort running to the ball all 11 peach defenders.
And that's the way you do it when you when you draw it up and when you talk to the offensive coordinators throughout the state, the number one thing that they want their kids to do is to chase the ball.
So it brings up a big 39 play.
The ball is placed well at the 38 yard line.
So they need to get to the 29 yard line in order to get a first down.
The Trojans are looking to.
Stop them right here.
And trusty Georgia quarterback Wolfe left looks down foot has a man down the sideline and this one is picked off.
It's picked off by number 24.
Preston Battle what a play.
And the pass was intended, of course, for number 31 Darius Lee.
Well battled it.
Good defensive play.
We'll take a timeout from the Georgia Dome.
We'll be back with more.
Three eight semifinal football action right after this.
Welcome back to the.
Football semifinal here at the Georgia Dome.
Peach County, leading Washington County in a heavyweight bout 2926 great defensive play by Peach County came up with a big interception.
This Peach County defensive guys were fired up.
Preston Battle came up with the interception and now the Trojans take over first and ten at their own seven yard line.
Brian Ellis is your quarterback Ellis handoff Mario Howard And Howard.
Picks up a stop by number ten, Brandon Watts and number 36, Edward Pinkston.
I know that Peach County has a wide open offense, but I'm pretty sure that Coach is going to probably eat up some of this time off the clock.
As you can witness there by the first running play there, these guys can score from anywhere on the field.
They have a balanced, wide open attack and a great passing attack.
But I'm sure that he's going to run as much as possible in this series.
Two yard pickup by Howard sets up a second and eight from the nine yard line for Peach County.
Two wide outs to the right, one to the left, one man in motion handoff.
No fake handoff by Ellis.
He's going for it on this big play, and he has receiver and it's Darius Lee and they call Ellsworth It's an interception What a play by Deon Harden We talked.
We talked about Deon Harden during the pre game and early on in the game and I was definitely telling you how great a running back he was, but he's even a better defensive back.
This kid when you talk about a lockdown corner in high school, this kid is a locked down corner.
He can run with the best of them.
He's big, he's physical.
And as you can witness on his interception, it's just the ball's up in the air for the player to make and Harden wanted to make the play and made.
It and what a great play by Harden And now the offense for Waco is back on the field Harden gets a breather 4 minutes to go at the 45/1 and ten here's Roscoe Walls and Walls picks up a few yards as Waco starts working their way back down field, trying to get back to that lead again over Peach County.
When you look at these two kids, 43 walls and number 20 Harden, these, you think you'd be hard pressed to find two better kids?
I mean, all around athletes great speed and you know what they're big weapons for Washington County.
Second and four.
There you see Roscoe Walls.
Great day.
Here in the semifinal game and the handoff goes to walls again and wall breaks.
And gets up to about the 40 yard line.
Great run by Roscoe Walls.
We have an exciting game here, of course.
Peach County leading 2926.
Earlier, Shaw won over 1614.
They'll play in the championship next weekend.
Double game coming up at 3:00.
Dublin takes on love it 6:00 tonight the four eight game northside against Saint Pius and 9:00 Marist in East Paulding.
A great lineup of football right here on GPP handoff right side of Deon Harden who's back in the game after big interception.
And boy, I'll tell you what, he can play both sides of the ball in a big way.
He can, indeed.
But I've got to give some credit to that offensive line.
It looks like they're running downhill, but that's made possible complements of this offensive line for Washington County.
Flag on the play.
Yep, flag on the play.
And it looks like this one is going to be against Washington County.
Here's Danny Brooke, Danny Westbrooks.
We have a personal foul on the offense, a blow to the head, the 15.
Yard penalty on the spot of the foul be far foul.
Getting a little too rough down there as these teams are competing to advance to the championship game of triple play next weekend.
Nobody said it was going to be easy.
Guys are fighting for a chance to play a show in the state championship game.
By the way, Shaw will have to travel to whoever wins this game tonight.
Today?
Yep.
The shot rate is waiting for the winner.
I'll tell you what you mix.
It makes you wonder who do they want to play?
Well, I think right now they're still celebrating.
And of course, great job by Coach Fitz and first year coach.
I mean, wow.
He took over for the legendary Charles Flowers and didn't miss a beat.
And I know that was a tough loss for you.
You cover I love you.
Don't rub it in them.
Don't rub it in.
First and 21 for the Golden Hawks.
Here's Deon Harden again.
Great run as he stays on.
His feet, Harden gets to about the 41 yard line, finally stopped by number five, Kip Pearson and number 16, Tavares Simmons.
Here's another look at that play by Harden taking the handoff off left tackle.
But this guy, like I said, man, he runs in there like every play.
He's going to the house.
And there you see Dion Harden working, giving it 110% on both sides of the ball today for Washington County.
Talk about a well-conditioned athlete.
Oh, yeah.
And they also find out in the fourth quarter, especially.
Here's Jordan and the handoff.
This is Roscoe Y'alls again.
And of course it helps DJ, you know, you got Harden, you got Walls, I mean, you got Coleman periodically.
I mean, you know, when you got guys like that in the backfield, you know, you can get some rest and still come up with big play.
And what's impressive about the running game of Washington County, they have four backs that all averaged over seven yards, a carry.
So that's phenomenal.
That's a that's a nice way of figuring out, hey, who do I give the ball to?
Well, it doesn't matter.
Just any one of them.
And there's Dion Harden and there's Dion Harden numbers on the day, 19 rushes of 105 yards and one interception for the senior.
As we have a time out on the field in this great, great football game between Peach County and Washington County is all right.
As we look at the Golden Hawks on the sidelines, we had a chance earlier to talk to Washington County head coach Joel Ingram to find out what's special about coaching the Golden Hawks.
I guess the fact of the resiliency our kids are shown, we started out very slowly and our kids never quit.
It's been easy to turn it back on.
Maybe my first year, but they didn't.
They they believed in each other and they've doing all we've asked of them then some and borderline abuse but they weren't really worked to get better.
I guess whether you're 28 or ten and all you can hope for is improvement each week.
And our kids have done that.
And you know, fortunately, here we are.
And here they are indeed.
After a one and two start, they real off ten straight and now they are just, oh, about 13, 14 minutes away from possibly playing in the championship game.
Here's the pitch to Dion Harden.
Harden gets to about the 30.
Five yard line as Washington County is in a seesaw game with.
Peach County looking to regain the lead.
Number five, Kip Pearson, a good defensive play for Peach County.
Did you take a look at this play here and you watch how PIERSON Number five, the linebacker pursues on this play, keeps his pads outside, leverage and great tackle there on a great athlete there on Harden.
The clock continues to run there's your time remaining in the third quarter a big fourth down and five for Washington County for Johnson to come in it would be a 50.
Two yard or so.
Washington County's going forward on fourth and five.
Looks like a broken play maybe not Jordan gay scrambles left side Now Whiteside has some room to the 25 and his out at the 20 forced out by.
Number two Sam Wimberly.
Great job of improvising there by the quarterback Jordan for Washington County of course downfield back to his left take a look at the replay here play action fake there a little waggle to the left but he's going to see that he didn't have anything.
He's going to break bring it back to the right side here.
A lot of real estate there, but an excellent job.
And he hadn't had to do a whole lot of running this year.
Once again, take a look at it.
He looks it over to the left.
Nobody's open, comes out the back door, a lot of real estate there and picks up some great yardage.
Great play by Jordan, the first down and now the kick and it goes right side to Roscoe Walls.
They just keep pounding away and the clock continues to run.
I was knocked out of bounds with the clock stopped for a good play by walls.
Tremendous job by, of course, county.
But you know what?
You have to kick your hats off to the running game.
I mean, Washington County has done a tremendous job on the ground.
And, of course, the few passes that they've had to throw Jordan has done a great job of executing Roscoe Walls.
A big day.
Dion Harden The big day.
Cardinal Coleman A big day on both sides of the ball.
Washington County on close to ten and it's walls again on the left side looks to turn the corner is the flag on the play and wall gets down.
To about the one yard line they market that will actually mark it down at about the two yard line.
But there's a flag on the play now brought down by number 24, Preston Battle.
Folks, when you look at number 43 there, Roscoe Walls and you see that it looks like he's hitting another gear.
He is in another gear and there's not many and not a lot of kids.
They get half that extra gear.
Here's Danny Westbrooks.
There you see it, holding against wash against Waco.
Number 43 walls is limping off the sideline.
Remember now he hurt his ankle in the first actually the last regular season game of the year.
And he's been missed the last three and didn't play a lot in the last three games.
And of course.
Only up in ten yard penalty from the final the foul now.
Second down and we talked about this at the start of the second half, how his conditioning would hold up because again, he hadn't played a lot of football the last three weeks.
Right.
Right.
High ankle sprain.
That's not an easy thing to deal with.
Roscoe stands at 5917.
He's a senior, so he's looking to give it all he gets.
Against Frisco and the handoff up the middle.
That's Harden again.
And Harden fighting for yardage might be down to about the 21 yard line.
Well, you know, it's hard to believe, too, Jim, as we do this game here that, you know, some of these young men won't probably have opportunity to play football again.
This will be the last game here in the dome.
And what a memory to play your last high school football game.
Oh, we don't.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Some great stories over the years as we brought you the semifinals here on GPB.
We have had some stars like Incredible As Times continues to tick down in the third quarter, and that's it.
That marks the end of the third quarter.
Peach County has the lead over Washington County.
It's 2926.
We'll have the fourth quarter coming up for you next on GPB.
And welcome back.
To the Georgia Dome.
Here you see both coaches, Rance Gillispie and Joel Ingram.
12 minutes to go in this big heavyweight championship, the triple A semifinal between Peach County and Washington County under the big top.
And you can't ask for a better setting as we go.
The final 12 minutes of this one b.j.
I tell you what, a lot of hardware already between those two coaches as you just took a look at there.
Here's your total yards 632 total.
Offensive yards in this game through 36 minutes.
We've got 12 more to guard and Jordan is going for more and he has a man.
It's incomplete.
To Darrius Lee, good defensive play by number 21 Desmond Jackson.
Desmond Jackson did a tremendous job, but Lee was open there and Jackson was a little late on the delivery.
Take a look here.
As Jackson drops back to pass.
He needs should have been getting rid of the ball early a little bit earlier because he was beat in the end zone there.
But again a great catch up speed there of Desmond Jackson and made the play when he had to.
Break coverage by our video team downstairs.
DIETL Johnson on to attempt a 37 yard field goal.
He's already hit twice from 43.
This would tie the game at 29.
Here's the kick.
By Johnson hits up.
At is good Michael Johnson.
Three for three on the day from 43 from 43 And now 37 yards And also throw in a halftime performance with the band.
Daniel Johnson is having an outstanding day and you take a look his third field goal on the day and I don't know if he's had a better day kicking the ball or participating in the band.
They had both been a tremendous day for this young man.
Well, certainly playing the right number now as he dials it in from 37 yards out.
Here's another look as it comes right into your living room.
And again, that ball could have traveled another ten, 15 yards.
Absolutely.
You know what?
The one thing about Michael Johnson is that of being a tremendous instrument player, horn player in the band and but a tremendous kicker.
This kid's a senior now.
Which one?
I mean, does he take this good scholar band scholarship?
How does he take the football scholarship?
Well, he's already proven to us he can do both.
So.
Oh, you think he can do it at the next level to ever know?
There you see the field goals on the day three for three and some from pretty good distances for the senior die Cal Johnson he'll kick it off back deep to receive his number four Chris Postal who is back there for Peach County.
There he is number four.
Has a guy there.
He's had a great day of kicking in, an excellent halftime performance in the band.
And here's the amazing thing.
He's 561 40%.
You had to be a big group to be a kicker.
That's exactly right.
He's well-built.
Though, in his hip area.
That's right.
That's that's where he gets that power in the leg, kick him deep, just like this one here.
And Coastal is going to take this at the one coastal gets to the 1051 post a lot for the 25 great return by coastal and Peach County goes back to work on offense first and ten good stop by number 18 Ventress Grant on the saving tackle.
You have to be happy with the way Post was able to take that kick and return it back up in there.
Really aggressive attacking the kick coverage team.
There you see Rams glass in a tie ballgame 2929 with 1141 to go in the final quarter in the waning ticks down.
The ratings have shown next weekend in the triple-A championship game.
Jesus Ellis hands off that's the Rams open that comes up for big play.
And boy, I tell you what, if he doesn't get tripped up on that one, Duran Brown is gone.
Boy, Brandon Watch was fortunate enough to trip him out.
Take a look.
This play, man, he's off to the races.
If it wasn't for a number ten, Brandon was getting the shoestring tackle there.
He'd still be running right now.
There you see what's on a saving tackle.
So Peach County now has it first and ten at the 46 yard line.
Ellis calling on Audible and the handoff goes to Mario.
Howard and Howard crosses midfield and into Washington County territory at the 48 yard line stop by number 97, Craven Miller.
Great job around to the football there about Miller coming from the other side of the field actually playing defensive tackle on the right side running across the formation and being able to make a stop.
Second and fourth.
This has turned out to be the game of the day so far under the big time Indy Man in motion is.
Brown Ellis step drop looks for the slant has a man that's human.
I checked that that's Keith Searcy.
I know it is it's Tim.
You Mo Keith.
Seriously.
It's the first time they look so much alike.
You know, they play so much alike.
They want make plays for Ellis, huh?
Yep.
Quarterback to back backup quarterback and Searcy.
The good hands makes a great catch.
So it's at the 41 yard line now, a first and ten for Peach County as they continue to move their way down the field, the clock continues.
Run Ellis hand on this is Mario Howard turns the corner.
Stays in bounds and is finally brought out of bounds at the 35 by 42.
Cardinal Coleman, a good play by Coleman.
Indeed a good play.
Some some licks have been thrown out there, as you can witness by the sound of this game.
They're definitely up going a pair to leather.
Well, you know how it is.
You remember the days up at UGA deejay and also a carver.
I mean, just before the start of the fourth quarter, four fingers goes up.
It's because you want to find out who has that stamina to last all 48 minutes.
You're absolutely.
Right.
Second and four for Peach County, it's a 35 yard line and motion even to the left, one to the right and the handoff up the middle to Denzel Brown.
And Brown has the ball state for the 1510 and Brown scores for Peach County.
Darren's all brown with a big touchdown run for Peach County and the Trojans are back on top.
Take a look at this.
This burst is up in up inside there.
Once he knows that he's off to the races, I tell you what, you can meet him in the end zone.
Nice job.
And of course, that play wouldn't have been made possible if it wasn't for his tremendous offensive line up front.
Juan Rodriguez on to attempt.
The extra point.
The stop is good to pick this up and it is a good one.
Rodriguez hits the extra point, but Darren Zone Brown comes up with the big play, 35 yard touchdown run.
Look at this for the day 15 carries 159 and his third touchdown of the game D.J.
Well the one thing about it, if you weren't convinced the Peach County had an explosive offense before you watch this game, you definitely know now these this team is tremendous, both throwing the ball and rushing the football.
It's still peak season and the folks are celebrating in the stands as Peach County has, the seven point lead.
Hey, by the way, I don't know if you blew this, but Peach was the last county created in Georgia.
I didn't know that.
Wow.
I didn't either.
Being formed from land was part of Palestine and Macon counties back in 1924.
Well, no wonder we didn't know.
But I mean, at the time it was the 161st county, but Milton and Campbell counties have since merged with Fulton.
And so the rest of the real estate story goes, okay, so there you have it.
That's a good information.
Now, some of these kids have probably learned that in history class.
So so Peach County with the lead 3629 under 10 minutes to go in the final quarter from, one to the big top.
And here's the high kick from one Rodrigues and it's fielded by number 42.
Cardinal Coleman Coleman's got some real estate and he takes it out to about the 32 yard line.
And that's where Washington County will take over on offense first and ten stop by number five.
Pearson And number 24 Preston Battle.
Well, I think Cardinal Coleman realized that after a fair catch in the last several that he had obviously enough room for him to catch it and advance it.
So again, being the old part time fullback that he is, wants to get done, gets his name in the paper.
To Page County.
Look at these numbers, 219 passing yards for Peach County, 28 for Washington County.
Just as we set it up for the open.
Washington County likes to run the football and a lot of yards total offense in this one on first and ten the pitch goes to Roscoe walls and walls picks up a couple.
Jim, I've got to ask you this.
When you look at that yardage, both by both offenses and again coming into this game, these were two of the top defenses in the state.
I mean, what does that say about the defensive side of the football in this game?
Well.
What it says is something's got to give.
Look at this again.
There it is.
Combined, combined.
It's just incredible.
And, you know, we said off the top, Peach County had a balanced attack.
Washington County likes to run the football and there you have it.
And so now Washington County, you know, down clock is starting to tick against them.
So they might have to throw it up in the air a couple of times.
Meantime, it's a running play.
Deon Hardin gets the call and takes it out to the 35 yard line stop by number 56 or maybe a seriously.
We know that pass the football has not been the forte in Washington County.
However, early on in the game they did a great job then Chris Jordan did a great job with the play action pass.
So, you know, what is they going to have to fool anybody?
He's going to have to throw the ball to get back in this game.
You bet.
His coach, Gillespie, there's the defense from the fans, the game being cheered on third and seven, the big third and seven for Waco.
At their own 35 yard line to pitch Deon Harden.
Harden Oh, come traffic.
And he's going to be thrown for a loss at the 31 yard line Good play by number eight Terrance Hatcher.
And you what you just witnessed was a great disciplined defense, a great job of pursuit and staying in your lane.
And obviously, when you've got a running back, as talented as this Darden is, you get Carroll in because this guy, like we mentioned before, he can take it the distance on any snap.
And the folks, the fans from Fort Valley are loving it, including our statistician and back to punt is difficult.
Johnson for Waco his first point of the day back deep to receive his Durant so Brown and this one is called for a fair catch at the 36 yard line by Terrence Hatcher and so that's where Peach County will take over first in ten and they have the lead 3629 as you see some more of the fans that made the trip from Fort Valley, it takes its viewers like you that help make great local programs like these high school football possible.

Thank you for supporting Georgia Public Broadcasting.
And I'll tell you what, it's always a fun time this time of the year.
DJ to show the football games here on GPB while we've got this time out, we talked earlier with Coach Gillispie and found out what he likes about coaching the Trojans.
Well.
You know, before I was ever a football coach, I was a football fan.
And, you know, I love the game of football.
I still remember when I was a little boy going over to my grandmother's house and she always had my dad's trophies and my uncle was an all-American in college and that is all-American portrait up there.
And I still remember standing in front of those things and seeing those things.
And, you know, the game itself is very important.
But I think what I like most of all or the relationships that you forge because of the type of game it is, the type of commitment that goes into the game and the of people that you deal with in the game of football.
You know, there's just not a not a whole lot about that.
I don't want.
Coach Gillespie on Peach County and we're back to live action.
DURANT Joe Brown gets the handoff and gets to about the 45 yard line.
But, you know, D.J., as the coach was saying, hey, you know what?
It's all about the kids.
It's all about the rich heritage that, you know, is Georgia high school football.
Well, you know what?
He has done an excellent job of instituting an excellent program and an excellent system in Peach County down here.
And those kids have bought into Gillespie's Coach Gillespie system.
And there you see the coach on the sidelines as the Trojans go to the go to the line of scrimmage at the 45 yard line, sets up a second and might be a good passing down for Peach County, but although they might want to run it and just keep running the clock and they do.
And that's Lorenzo Brown.
And Brown is met by three or four defensive Waco players at the 49 yard line and throw him back, led by Jack number 30.
Jack has Moss a number 42.
Cardinal Coleman and Bush calling Coleman's name a lot today.
You have been in we said at the top, you know, he's the guy on defense.
And, you know, fortunately and unfortunately for Washington County, you know, he's making a lot of plays.
But he has to make these plays and he needs to make even more now in order to stop this Peach County offense and get the ball back for his team.
Absolutely.
There's a good shot at Coleman.
He'll be playing in Division One ball next year, first and ten for Peach County at the 49 yard line.
Man in motion to set backs.
Here's the handoff and that's Mario Howard and Howard gets to about midfield stop by number 13 Cordell Gladden.
We hadn't called Glenn's name early in his first half.
He picked up a pass and ran back for a touchdown, but that was an excellent tackle.
The clock continues to run now.
6 minutes and counting left in this three eight football semifinal here in downtown Atlanta.
Cordell Gladden, there you see him.
He's already picked off one and returned it for a touchdown for Waco as the tough Golden Hawks defense has been up to the challenge today against Peach County.
Here's Ellis dropping back looks left side has a man and it's incomplete intended for number 12 Mario Howard.
Not on any other offense in high school that would have been a dangerous pass there.
But again when you have a Brian Ellis at quarterback, maybe you can do things that everybody else can't do.
But boy, I tell you what, that was a dangerous pass.
Hip hop hook.
Brian Ellis has really brought this team together.
And I'll tell you what, when you think about how he played at a private school before this and jumped into this this level of high school ball in his senior year and doing the job he's done.
It's incredible.
Mario gets the handoff and takes it straight up the gut.
What a play by Howard and Darius Lee comes up with a stop on defense for Washington County.
It is again D.J.
All righty tell you this is this is just flat out good blocking up front and again a great vision by the running back to get his ball to get into the open space and get as much yardage as possible.
Boy, I tell you, that's a nice chunk to add to an already great rushing day for Peach County.
But getting back to the quarterback, as we mentioned, Ellis transferring over from fifth area private school, a school, high school down in south Georgia to the big school here in Peach County in H. You saw the numbers up for Howard on the day and he continues to collect more as we approach the five minute mark left in the fourth quarter.
And now checks off.
And with that, here's a delay.
A game against Peach County.
And there you see it as Danny Westbrooks gives the signal.
Step up the league game, play up in five yard.
So they get it back five yards, T.J.. You know, you're talking about elicit, but we'll talk to him, attempt to tell you the story here.
You know, he was that tipped area and now he thought he had wanted to get more exposure, but he transferred over and did a tremendous job.
Now, UAB opening at Ole Miss.
Oh, look at that.
Incredible story down.
In south Georgia.
To Mario, Mario, Howard.
And Howard takes it inside the 15 about the.
14 yard line.
What a run by Howard and what a stop by number 18 for Terrace Grant.
Look at this.
If we get a chance to look at this again, again, you got you got to give credit to those linemen up front.
I Know these these like these running backs when they get to the sideline, they have to pat their life buddies on the back.
But look, if you look look at all that space this guy is running in space because his offensive has basically opened up lanes that, Jim, you mentioned before that you could run through.
Yeah, well, I don't know about that one, but, you know, maybe if it was a couple of yards so a first and ten at the 14 yard line and the handoff is Howard again.
And Howard gets up maybe a yard on the play as the Golden Hawks get very tough defensively in the red zone.
Washington County obviously needs to have a huge play.
They need a turnover in order to give them an opportunity to even tie this game up.
But one thing that they definitely need is a stop it's not enough time left.
We're inside of 406 left to play in this game.
And everybody's watching clock both coaches the players second and nine at the 14 yard.
Line Ellis handoff.
And that's Howard again And Howard maybe picks up a couple more importantly, the clock continues to run stop by number 13 Cordell Gladden and number 97, Gravy and Miller.
One thing is for sure as we watch Peach County try to run this clock.
But, you know, they had nearly 2000 yards rushing this year and 39 rushing touchdowns to go with all of that tremendous passing yards, over 3000 passing yards.
So this is a very potent offense.
You betcha.
Both teams both teams know how to pound the ball.
Peach County, as we said, a balanced offensive attack.
We have a timeout on the field.
There's Mario Howard.
He's been the workhorse on this drive for Peach County.
And, you know, you said it.
I mean, this is this is the drive.
I mean, if Waco doesn't come up with a stop, Peach County is in the championship next week.
In the meantime, earlier we had a chance to catch up with Washington County head football coach Joel Ingram to find out what he likes best about coaching the Golden Hawks.
I guess just the idea of I just I love football.
I grew up as my father was a coach in Alabama.
I grew up in a field house and time I could walk and talk.
And just being around the guys, the camaraderie and I guess, like I was saying earlier, taking a team and seeing them improve over the course of the year and seeing them start the gel and come together and execute those those things rewarding.
It makes you feel like you've done something.
All in the family D.J..
I mean, that's what it's all about, you know, being around his dad.
Then he plays the game and, you know, I mean, what a great story.
Joel Ingram, of course, went to Jacksonville State University and the assistant coach of the year for several years and Triple A coach of the year in 2016.
Great job by Joel Ingram third and sixth year He played Ellis rolls right looks has a receiver Touchdown Peach County has them Yuma scores again Utah Newman.
Once he and Ellis hooks up and you know hit this I guess this puts the nail in the coffin if you if you will take another look if you can at that execution.
But these guys have been doing this all day.
And I just marvel at the talent of this quarterback being an old former quarterback myself.
You know, you just don't find kids this good in high school every day.
Juan Rodriguez is on to kick the extra point for Peach County.
At one point, they were down 14 to nothing to Waco.
And now with the extra point, Peach County is up 1443 to 29 with just 304 left go.
And we got some excited people up here in this park, this neck of the woods for Peach County.
Absolutely.
I tell you what, Fort Valley is definitely in the house.
And I tell you, these folks down in that part of the country, they're not too far from Columbus, man.
They're excited and they have a great football team.
And if something then happens to Washington County in a hurry, their season is going to end right here at the Dome.
Look at the patience by Brian Ellis, too.
I mean, rolls, right?
Just waiting for the receiver to hit that mark and then fire that football.
I know it sounds like we've been bragging about this Ellis kid, but I mean, he is that good folks.
I mean, this guy is there's not a lot of weaknesses.
He he does everything you need to do in it, including picking the right time to transfer.
We said transferring over from Tim area Double-A school to get the exposure that he needs because this kid can play on the next level.
And I'll tell you what he's popular player as well around school and around the community and the church and gets involved in so many extracurricular activities just to do anything he can to help his community.
And in fact, I was I heard about a little girl that goes up to him after every game and congratulated the ten year.
Old girl who's just a just a fan of, the quarterback.
It's just a great story.
All right.
Here's the kickoff.
And this one goes deep and it looks like it's going to be fielded by a walls and his walls.
He takes it on the bounce and he gets trounced back at the eight yard line.
And so that's where Waco will begin first and ten with just 259 left in the game.
D.J.
Peach Court of Washington Counties Kick Return Teen Napping.
I Guess all day that they've been kind of pushing it, you know, probably about 30 yards over hundred and 20.
But that's when they found out that Washington kind of didn't have any deep backs so the kid could just kick the ball, you know, where they weren't.
Smart play by one Rodriguez to kick it that far.
So Waco begins at their own nine yard line first and ten.
They need a big play here.
Order to keep this one Keon Park again and Harden takes it out to about the 15 yard line to pick up about six stopped by number two Sam Wimberly.
Boy, I tell you, you know what?
This is a traditional running team and we mentioned that they can pass and half pass effectively, but it's no secret that, you know what, all the stops need to come out of Washington County right now.
They got to put the ball in the air.
I would imagine.
They've got to look for number 31, the wide receiver, Darius Lee in order to get a big one.
But right now.
No wideouts are set up in the eyes at the pass and a pass is over the middle and.
He has a receiver, but it's incomplete.
Antonio DANSBY The intended receiver on.
That play, broken up by the peach down defense.
And you get the feeling the Trojans fans are feeling it now.
Yes, indeed.
No need to hang your head in this game.
Still has a little time left, but Washington County has come out and they played one heck of a football today.
Hats off to Van Trotsky.
Jordan, a great job at quarterback for Waco, keeping his team in the game for most of the time and still opportunity third and fourth.
The pitch goes to Harden and Harden maybe picks up a yard stop by number two.
Sam Wimberly Now you have to know that he's count is going to be tough up inside.
Coming up on 2 minutes left in the final quarter, triple A field.
Well, there it is short advanced 1614 over Carver looks like they'll play Peach County next week in the triple AA championship gets just a short radius and a Peach County Trojans doing battle next week in the triple AA championship game.
What a game.
It's going to be game indeed.
And one game that I will definitely be a part of.
And the punt by night Kell Johnson and Johnson's punt end over and it looks like it goes out of bounds right at midfield and yes.
They believe in the Peach Bounty Trojans as they will be playing hard next week in Fort Valley, hosting the triple-A championship.
Absolutely.
In the Shell Raiders out of Columbus, Georgia, will be taking on Peach County down there in Forth Valley.
And of course, I'll have an opportunity to be in that game, as will myself.
Dale Williams, along with athletic director in Columbus, Georgia, Charles Flowers.
Because we'll be doing the game radio broadcasts on Magic 98.3 for all those good folks back.
Columbus, I think Magic fits you perfect.
First in Palm Beach County at the 50 yard line as they look to run the clock hits the.
End zone brown with the carry and he gets to about the 44 yard line six yard pickup as the clock continues to run, 119 and counting.
Well, I guess taking stock warming up the busses out there in the latter.
Yeah, that's a that's a safe statement.
But again, hats off to Coach Joel Ingram.
I say he did a tremendous job.
This team out and they struck first up 14 points and they gave Peach County all they can handle.
Second and five under a minute to go.
As Peach County looks to run out the clock next.
Lorenzo Brown again and he's met right at the line of scrimmage and actually thrown for a loss by Brandon watch number ten and number 13.
Gladden now having the opportunity to see Peach County play up close and personal against Lagrange a couple of weeks when they knocked Lagrange out.
You, I was so impressed again at the high school level, this was probably the most impressive high school team from top to bottom that I've seen in quite some time, a tremendous offense, tremendous defense, nice special teams.
You know, they have it all.
Absolutely.
And at 36, it's just a knee down.
And boy, what a comeback by Peach County 14 to nothing and they going outscore Washington County 43 to 15 and they win this triple a football semi final Peach County 43 Washington County 29.
What a great football game.
Absolutely.
And the folks down in Forth Valley, they're getting ready for a state championship 888 matchup.
And the Raiders are coming in from Columbus, Georgia.
We'll take a time out and hear from the winning coach right after this.
You're watching the final football playoffs from the Georgia Dome.
And welcome back to the triple-A semifinal.
Peach County wins it 43 to 20.
Let's go downstairs to Terrell delivery.
Terrell.
Thanks a lot, Jim.
I'm here with Coach Gillespie.
Team started off slow, but they showed a lot of resiliency to come back and win this game.
You just tell me, talk about how proud of you are of your team right now.
Oh, I can't say enough for our football team.
You know, we've we've traveled.
A tough road to get here, you know, with Lagrange and Hard County, had an excellent football team last week.
And then Washington County, you know, has an.
Outstanding football team.
I'm just really, really proud of ours, the Rams.
O'BRIEN He had a great game last year when he played in the Dome.
Another spectacular game here today, three touchdowns.
Just talk about his play.
Well, you know, Mario has been a little.
Gimpy the last couple of.
Weeks, so his role is really stepped up.
You know, he's a kid that does a lot of things.
US I think he's got a little over 500 yards rushing and 500 yards receiving, just he's a great athlete and I'm I'm sure.
Glad we got him.
Well, congratulations, coach.
Good luck in the state championship.
Thank you.
Now back up to you, Jim.
All right.
Thanks, Gerald.
So Beach County in Washington County has met 11 times.
Peach County has won all 11 in the history of the match.
Peach County wins this 143 to 29 for Gerald Oliveira, for J.R. Jones and our entire technical crew here at the Dome, I'm Jim Tanaka.
Thanks for watching.
