Big ball game here on GPB and the two guys to bring it to you as Charles Ward and the elevator from Dr. Herb White.
Hey, guys.
man.
Good afternoon, everybody, and welcome to the Arena Gwinnett Center, Charles Ward, along with Herb White.
Phil Proctor, in just a moment.
Herb, this really is true, that there is really no one size fits all for these teams, meaning get this story match up today.
Well, that's where the hype the other real quick down the floor.
Right.
And you know, even more than that, Charles, is going to be the contrasting styles in today's ballgame.
Is a big team, as you mentioned, and they're going to try to control the tempo of this game, slow it down, play at their pace, give those big guys a chance to get up and down the floor and getting possession.
Douglas County, on the other hand, is a team that averages let's take a look at the heroes and move Saka to 66. guard or guard forwards I would say 18.6 points a game, ten rebounds, four assists had 18 in the semifinal games.
He's going to have to come up big for these guys and he'll be one of the guys trying to control the tempo in this ball game.
Starting lineup for the Eagles of Columbia, Storrs, Teddy Saka.
We just highlighted up light foot and price, really good group of players out there for the Eagles of Colombia because the Eagles of Colombia would have a real big test ahead of them tonight.
Herb, as they made the team in the Tigers of Douglas County, Douglas County, with a real fine performance in the semifinals.
Yeah, they did.
They really played well.
And again, they're going to try to get up and down the floor.
The average over 80 points a game.
Charles.
So let's take a look at the hero of this team, and that would be Jon Jones.
He's a 25 point per game score.
There's a lot of scores on this ballclub.
He gets about seven assists a game.
He had 23 points in the semifinals and he's going to try to get that ball out, get up and down the floor before Colombia's big guys can get set up, because Columbia is going to play some zone, make it a little tougher for or for him for Douglas County to get down the floor and get set up.
And there's our starting lineup for Douglas County.
Turner and Dobbs in the backcourt.
Got to really keep an eye on Dobbs is a wonderful player Pippen's Jones and Harp all of the frontcourt they go with a three guard offense because really effective for the Tigers are Douglas County as we go now to the pronouncer David now let's meet our starting lineup this afternoon first for the Columbia Eagles that guard a65 junior number 15 Lance Storrs at forward a65 senior number 30 moussaka at guard, a six foot senior number 32, Sean Kenney.
Matt forward a69 senior number 35.
Jeremy Lightfoot.
And that center, six nine junior number 50.
Jeremy Price is the head coach of the Columbia Eagles.
Philip McCrary Green for the Now let's meet the starters from the Douglas County Tigers at Wing, a six foot senior.
Number three, Ricky Dobbs at Wing six six senior number 4 to 1.
Joe at guard 510 Junior, a number 12.
Chris Turner or at Wing a61 junior, Number 23 to Marian pick Giddens and that post six six senior number 30 Mark Harp the head coach of the Douglas County Tigers is Joby Boyd Stone There are the starting lineup for tonight's four eight championship match up.
Well, the Eagles soar to the title or with the Tigers claw their way to state prominence.
We'll find out after this.
Even after 37 years, it's still fresh to a crossroads.

One night we in our own Wednesday at 730 on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
This is Georgia Public Broadcasting, your PBS station, your We are back live at the arena looking at center getting set for the for a boys championship at sideline.
A man who is very familiar with the big and tall sections of the stores.
I feel proctor fill.
Hey Charles.
You know, I enjoy just big man's game.
And I mean, that's exactly what I get a chance to see today with Columbia.
A lot of six, nine, six, five across that front line.
One of the things Douglas County's going to do, they're going to try to push the ball.
They're not afraid to go inside defensively, both these teams, they bring a lot of pressure.
I'm going to ready to grab me a seat, get some popcorn, and I'm about to enjoy this game.
Back to you guys.
Thank you.
Feel we are set to go here for this for a championship.
Two great ball clubs contrasting styles with the ball game should be a good one underway.
Out of bounds.
Charles.
I got comments from both coaches for the game.
Try to sum up what they felt about their opponents.
Coach McCrory said it'll be like hunting rabbits, playing Douglas County and coach Boyd Stone said David against Goliath.
So that pretty much sums up their feeling.
Yeah, it sure does.
David's with the basketball down with the Jumper, It's Dobbs.
Off them on and Columbia will have its first crack at it at the glass shots off of theirs.
The backside trap.
Nicely done by I'll do soccer and the first two of the ball game goes to the Eagles.
Jones fires with three clear to the Eagles.
It'll be important for Jones to get off early here.
Herb for the Tigers if they expect to stay out of this ballgame.
But the Eagles Eagles can take advantage of the real quick.
They're going to need some outside scoring because going to be tough to score inside against this large Columbia team.
And Columbia opens up in a two, three, 4212.
Didn't get a real good look at it, but they're going to pack it back in there and make Douglas County hit some jump shots.
See Coach McCrory there, the screen for the Eagles of Columbia, as this calls, that takes it, of an area basketball away from the Tigers at the block, all the reverse shots off the board, five guys.
But there's a pick back up side second put back by Columbia and Douglas County's going to have to do a better job keeping that size off the boards.
DOBBS In the corner, double down there.
Up Hipkins.
What's it up top at the block Harp pop squares with the jumper.
Mr. Jones clears in traffic out of bounds.
It'll stay with the Tigers.
As we mentioned, Douglas County averaging over 80 points a game.
CHARLES But Columbia has held 25 of 32 opponents under 50 or under this year.
So really both teams trying to impose their philosophy out here.
DOBBS Handles out front players.
The three got a good look.
Missed it back side, though price clears for the Eagles three at the block the goal price nice turn to the inside he what it off the glass for two twice at six eight showing a real quick step out at the blocker lobs up top He goes Typekit right side Jones with three Jones got to the ball that's big full load zone players out a little bit from under that basket We'll get a look at coach Boyd's down in a minute if you can see a notice.
His right hand is wearing a bandage.
Charles He hit the scorers table a couple of games ago in a fit.
So we'll talk a little bit more about his medical issues.
So that's one of the best.
That's all for the take a look at the screen there.
That right hand in these elite eight, they were leading Griffin by 20 points and that suit was shaved to six.
And that's when he hit the table.
Let's hope they don't lose a big lead today.
He's only got one left in the quarter with the three asteroids.
It's off the mark.
The Eagles run with it.
Jones for three, the remmers off the block Eagles back the other way to try to bounce it down low to Lisa you'll notice when Columbia gets a rebound Charles Douglas County will send two or three guys at the guy with the ball that gets it off the boards and it's I can't take it away from him.
There's going to be some easy opportunities for Columbia down on the other end.
Turner works it up the floor for the Tigers.
Not a heart wants to make it happen.
Right Side shot rejected by price Columbia.
That's the other way.
Good Defense to Hawks by J.R. Jones.
Now Dobbs behind the arc penetrates running jumper pointed out the basket is Richie Dobbs with a nice penetration and raise it with the jumper plays so much under control for the Tigers had a great performance in the semifinals Looks like after a score drop that was kind of used.
A lot of different presses, though.
Go man to man president.
It's like they're going to set up on his own press after a basket to come right out with the press as the Eagles come across hard line soccer back up top, he goes to Teddy Z side batted away by Harper but it comes clear to the Eagles whistles inside the tracing by Teddy the foul going to not going to give him the shot he's the penetration inside Turner was trying to catch up with his teddy so quick makes him draw the foul Teddy handles right side leads the team in assists and that is not a game Toppy goes price Rucker on the move Short jumper the paper runners good pop at the block B this man got the lay it listed on the perimeter though there's Dobbs back side for the football rare Douglas County basket inside and everything for Columbia so far has come in the paint Charles one point lead for the Eagles to the senator whistle lead was Rucker but he was fouled Douglas County electing to play man to man in their half court defense is employed a couple of different zones already man to man for court press after a miss and then they go into that zone press after made basket trying to find what works at this stage.
Yep.
Trying to keep Columbia off balance a little bit.
Rock Rucker convert.
So the first couple of substitutions it now for coach Whitestone and the Tigers Holbrook checks in as does sellers do Jones really having a coming out party in the state tournament.
Charles He's really starting to assert himself he's got that's all over the floor making plays the rockets convert so the Sackett had 23 in the semifinals on the Wednesday night running jumper Holbrook That shot nicely that the junior comes off the bench and scores his first two of the ballgame.
The Eagles are the inbound line basketball back to Douglas County.
Like a lot of teams that like the run Douglas County's got some guys that can hit that mid range jump shot though they'll pass it inside the three point line and take that 15 1614 footer And that's kind of a lost art these days.
Timeout taken by coach Boyd Stoll and the Tigers of Douglas County 328 remains of this first quarter the Tigers 28 and five on the campaign where we're talking about Jones a few moments ago in terms of coming alive and at the championship of the tournament.
If you take a look at Coach Boy Stone's performance in his eight years at Douglas County, 71% winning out of those eight years, able to put five teams at the tournament play.
So that's not a bad record, what, eight year span?
Because, boy, still in about three decades for Douglas County.
But since they've been in the championship game, though, Charles and I know they're very excited about that.
You know, one of my main jobs, my main job at GPB is to raise money for our programing, but they don't get some money to kick in a few extra bucks for some new tires for Jim Pinocchio.
What do you think, Dr. McCreary?
Over 18 years at Columbia, I think Jim was well taken care of in that category.
He's the one that brought it up.
So, yeah, they do.
They call Coach McCrary Dr. Phil lovingly over it at Columbia.
He's actually the doctor of mathematics.
Not one of my strong subjects body either.
The Eagles with the basketball.
They enjoy a one point lead on the penetration sort all the jumper by Rucker back side rebound goes to soccer he can hook shots off the board it's kept around Jones clears for the Tigers Jones runs over steady That's a good thing Jones only weighs about £140.
CARLSON He would have had to hurt somebody with that one.
Get him full speed.
Nice defensive play.
We'll see it again on the replay back the other way.
The Eagles Turn it over.
DOBBS Got it.
Three on one.
Watch it right side.
Jones missed all the way in this time Here draw the foul down low Nice No look pass by Dobbs There he's there.
He's a great quarterback on the basketball team.
He's also the quarterback on the football team.
Charles, you were talking about the players for that team that have the ability to spot up with that jumper.
Dobbs is one of those shots.
JONES Convert.
So the first jump on both teams able to play their game does this kind of getting out and running with the ball and Columbia's been able to get the ball inside.
You score so well, play that game right now.
Nothing settled just yet.
Jones On the second of two it's a 2 to 1 trap Press all the way through reverse lay eggs off the mark by Walker rebound clear by the Tigers they want to run with it dives behind the arc raises fires He's off the ball but Jones backside clears for Douglas County at the block Eric pass comes away to the Eagles Tough to throw that high lob in among all those big guys from Columbia so Teddy works it right side now at the block the go price guys lost gamble on the foul on Jones the Tigers will have the basketball Jones takes a seat and Chris Turner the junior back out on the floor take over the point guard duties kept it down low This two shot ice clears and traffic before they come.
Lubbock Lemmons lays it back to the side to erupt early.
Rucker lays it over for the Eagles first flip and bodies falling to the floor, which is what I was talking about a moment earlier.
Charles on the rebound down here, he got the rebound.
Douglas County had three people around the rebounder right into the basket.
As soon as the outlet pass is made, you can see it.
They're going to have the advantage right there.
Two on one.
That's dangerous if you don't steal the ball.
The easy lay it for Rucker, the senior.
So one point lead for the Eagles.
They had the basketball they also up top travel violation by Saka but Douglas County went into a21 to right there and soccer turned around and looked out here send them against a man to man and saw that packed in and move you to safe surprise worked so the Jones back on the floor for the tigers to him was up top left side just gets out the block Ha ha got it took a senator left it shut down twice, lost the hammer but it comes clear to Terry Jones drops it away.
Clemons runs about running Jefferson 15 nicely touched by Jordan, others the junior dives just in front of the Eagles edge that's got a minute of a first half, a first quarter steal and across caught pass Lemon's with it to the glass Did he get at the foul Yes he does go to the line as well Columbia giving Jones County or Douglas County little of their own medicine with the fast break Charles Jordan lemons with the and going to the line and as you mentioned at the other end harp with a nice move inside couldn't get it to go down 11 on the season seven points per game seven rebounds over two assists per contest converts so the three point play got to check that rebound stat.
He's a slim guy who gets seven rebounds a game.
That's impressive Al Turner works at back left side out on the clock harp he's doubled even triple down the back to turn on the run spinning past ASADA's sellers back in Holbrook What's this excellent ball movement there about this caddie there get it around the floor three or four passes there and still couldn't get the open shot though good movement also on that 212 by the Eagles Holbrook a junior to shoot spins out on the first Douglas County down the Tigers doing what you want to do against that 212 though somehow get the ball inside first bring that zone in then you can pass the ball around, get it back out to the little jumper on the perimeter.
Holbrook 67% from the line.
This is both but the rebounds.
DOBBS Left side knocked out of bounds by the Eagles.
Nice work by Rickey Dobbs a senior to control that basketball for the Tigers.
well, the cardinal sins don't give up an offensive rebound off a missed free throw hop and the corner works between the double team basketball to the Eagles Harp, the leading scorer for the Tigers trying to make something happen there in traffic.
Turn it over Evans back the other way for the Eagles to see if they play for one less than 10 seconds remaining first quarter left side they're down at the basket.
Got it Inside the sack of sucker got the lay harp at the buzzer, got a shot at it at the end of one Columbia leading it 90 to 11 over the Tigers at Douglas.
We step aside for a timeout.
We'll come back to start the second half of this.
And I'd like to suggest to you that inspiration is not something that comes and goes.
This is a whole new look at inspiration.

The legends of 1950s and early sixties Pop returned to the PBS stage in an all new My music special to spend one night me in our home Wednesday at 730 on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
This is Georgia Public Broadcasting.
Your PBS station on Back live at the Arena at that center, we get set to start the second quarter.
Cheerleaders from Columbia High School.
A lot to cheer about so far.
Her team's on a91 run.
Yeah, when I was ten, all we were talking about, neither team has been able to establish a whole lot.
But since then, a91 run by the Eagles, Dobbs will inbound it just in front of us to get us started of the second quarter.
And Douglas County hasn't had a lot of quality looks in the last few minutes.
They've got to do a little better in a half court set, which they're not used to whistles out front.
Holbrook was on the move.
He was held by Rucker Eagles, six players on their roster at six feet, five or taller, making it tough for the Tigers.
But not all that plate holding.
Williams held a three pointer for the Tigers.
That's a drought buster Saka to the glass shot rejected by heart attack a pick back by Brice That's great body control by Saka out here at the forecourt when he almost walked was able to control his body and get the pass away.
Coach Boyd Stone told me they've played some big teams this year.
Charles I believe he mentioned Chapel Hill who's got six, nine, six, eight, something like that.
But look at that replay there.
Saka to the glass harp with a fine job of rejected the shot.
But so many tall bodies by that Columbia team able to get that second shot and but at that George Gervin like Saka same type of body and length on his arms taking it to the basket.
But I doubt if Douglas County has seen a team with the overall size of Columbia because it's just about every player on their team that they start.
As you know, they have four starters over six five.
So that really makes a difference.
That time.
I'll take it back.
Coach Boyd still obviously upset about the fact they hit the three pointer with they go right back on the other end to give up the easy basket inside Dobbs out front said that zone by the Eagles on the pass across the floor thrown out of bounds Columbia's got Douglas County having to play a half court game and that's not their game especially again against that size and his own.
That's what Doctor McCrary talked about.
So they knew they could do of what Douglas County they wanted to get out of the halfcourt set.
That's why they're starting to set things that way.
But D.J.
Holbrook was just determined he was going to get a foul call.
He found them about twice, four, they called it, and they finally did.
Got accommodated, A little frustration there.
You can see it now just seeping in a little bit on Douglas County as they're finding it tough to score down on the other end.
So Storrs, Jr goes to the line for the Eagles.
Storrs all the season over ten points, six rebounds, four ball game with four blocks, stalls at six feet, five converts on the first, the Warriors had 15 at the semifinal ballgame.
A lot of folks are expecting an all Camp County final.
Charles Douglas County took care of that to beat the number one team.
But the basketball thrown away to Florida got it.
And right behind the coverage here for the easy stuff is lights up.
They got behind the Douglas Press harp at the block, double in the corner, Christian foul the replay just Lightfoot nobody there to pick him up We didn't get that one all day so definitely some problems moving here for Boyd Stone and the Tigers and I found a formula to shut down the Eagles yet on the inbound play that was contested and got it out of bounds.
That shot chart is going to get real crowded for Columbia there.
And inside the paint, they're going to run out of places to put those.
Alexis.
Turner works to help flood for the Tigers left side.
The heart now.
Turner Back to the fake Gibson five.
He got it Nice job by Harp and Turner stepping in at the foul line to get the short jumper five.
So the steal for the Tigers stops across the lane Got it allowed and out of our way to stay with the tigers Dobbs looking for a foul not sure what he was quite trying to do there a little bit out of control but it worked out Douglas Canning will retain possession Matthew Gay on the floor now for the Eagles inbound pass to Hart 648 clock running at this first half with the airball rebounds clear here come the Eagles quickly they got the numbers Thibodeau slow it up Basketball taken away by Pepe over to Turner Turner turns to the glass thanks it but it fell off He'll go to the line that calling up the pass you want to make trying to get it to Lightfoot in the middle on the fast break for Columbia.
That's definitely not their game.
Giving it to the six nine man in the middle starting to see it.
The Tigers are picking up this tip over though all the transition Turner not able to get the lead but he'll shoot from the line Well that's their ballgame again we said that's going to negate some of that size if they can keep it in the open court.
Turner at 69% from the free throw line, just a good year left.
He fires it, got it to fall on the second man to man.
Full court pressure now.
Basketball batted out of bounds at a stay with the Eagles talking about Tucker losing the number one seed, only one number one team left in the tournament draft in the boys brackets was Westlake.
That's like surprising with that Tucker loss but that's basketball also with the legal loss as well the 511 high guys start back the other way No one out of bounds Toronto was looking for a to continue but Wheeler was not quite the team they were last year they really missed Rod Curry, of course, graduated went on to start now this past year for Providence they really missed him running the show out there.
And you can't take anything away from the way they played last night.
Take a look at the points in the paint thus far.
Columbia with just six Douglas with 16 of their 18 inside.
It's surprising.
I'm not sure that's that's correct to double check that these guys are never wrong here which guys are you referred to guys at the jumper off the block bounce pass turn let's go get the play area is another one in the paint five point lead for the Eagles.
They have the basketball whistles just to the front of the tiger bench against Columbia Soccer up back on the floor.
So is Teddy here?
The team has won a state title.
Columbia switched over.
That's going man to man.
Now Jones looks at everybody out of backs.
Now they're back in the zone.
Got about 1 to 3 Typekit kind of look for the best.
It slithers quickly up the floor.
Leslie to the glass off balance.
Missed a shot, tried to tap.
He missed it.
Well, it'll stay with Columbia that let me say this with their size, they're just going to throw it up there around the rack, go get it.
Try to stick it back in work form.
So far, Bryce in the corner.
Now to Teddy at the block.
Soccer.
Good defensive work by the Tigers inside this time, the Tigers get the break they'll have the basketball little bit of a force there Saka with a guy call for the offensive foul I love that phone number 5 minutes from eight first half Jones what a turnover down in the quarter squaring for three spears got is far a big basket draws within two now for Douglas Spears especially making a single contribution there three now is to fire and then the quarter scores pretty good number the three on it Tigers just a two but it was pretty store's answer Spears Now here comes Jones to the rack shots off the back rebound to the Eagles They hustled down the floor Teddy right side they got a three on one bounce pass right side Fair sucker for the dunk Great look by Kenny had the big man on his right but he picked Saka flying down the floor for the slam.
Not a bad choice.
Throw it up, turn it quickly back the other way.
Running jumper from five off the mark Saka clear the rebound.
Here they come again Teddy right side price beat the three he got the dunk Douglas County drew within two but a six point run and that's going to hurt him I don't force a timeout taken by coach Royce Toyota the Tigers Kenny there was a nice bounce pass across the floor and he can count that one all day.
Those boys down there to make an adjustment at halftime.
Again, they're going after that ball into the basket and it's costing them a lot, a lot of slam dunks and an easy layup for Columbia City across the timeline.
This time a timeout taken by coach Rick Perry.
That really takes the steam out of your sales when daddy says the credit to two and immediately give up three.
Coming up live at 5 p.m. the Georgia wheelchair basketball championship between the Atlanta Wolfpack and the West Georgia Wolverines.
This championship is integrated into the state high school basketball championships by the American Association of Adopted Sports Programs and the Georgia High School Association coming up at 5 p.m. here on GPB.
So you get to stay right here and handle the wheelchair basketball as well.
It's always a lot of Charles, a lot of great kids in those ball games.
They get after it.
I want to tell you, you talk about some collisions or they have some I have not seen one, but I intend to stay around for this one this evening.
Just getting back on the floor now, Soccer working the block on Jones.
They'll get him for the offensive push off.
I thought I was headed to the wheelchair game soon, but I got to new knees about ten weeks ago, so I want to be all right, I think.
Glad you avoided that.
Titanium knees.
They match my golf clubs.
Now that's a new thing.
Match your clubs and your knees.
Shoulder handles across the floor.
Allow for the tiger's left side.
He works it down to the corner, kicks it.
Holbrooke.
Holbrooke had a look at it, missed it.
Spears, the freshman with the rebound.
It's a quick jacket by price I don't think rejected the strong enough now to have top stories.
The right side LeBron's running jumper by 11, he shot 11 rebounds coming clear to the Eagles.
They now they lose it out of bounds.
Back to back.
Let's go rejected with malice.
I think it's an apt description with fourth forethought Jones with less than 3 minutes to play I'm trying to get it to the side the goal the quarter this year again this time the three point offense off the mark price clears Teddy quickly right side stores at the block 11 got the reverse but he missed the layup Jones up the floor they got a two on one Spears short jumper for five missed it will get it down right corner pass take it away by the Eagles though 11 contests Jones battling so Jordan loves the junior coming off the bench with a nice spark but Coach McCrary and the Eagles most important 2 minutes now for Douglas County to go in his half Charles and his ten point deficit right now.
You know they want to get that thing under double digits here you see the replay.
Nice job taking it to the hoop there.
A chance to cut into that ten point deficit right now with a couple of free throws.
And, you know, Douglas County like to get it down to four or five before the half, at least.
Jones connects on the first six points, five rebounds thus far for George Jones.
Make it seven.
Couple of big wins there.
The Eagles with the Dow 21 top story.
I saw the record at the block price double team the media take it traffic got it to the another got to the far strong move for the future Bulldog backed up wall inside the paint Jones fires a three barely piece to that basketball over to the Eagles guys just a junior but he has committed to the University of Georgia hasn't made it official yet.
Some room on that front line over and out after they brought up the use of the Tigers by the Eagles.
This time twice the shots blocked inside by Jayson at the basketball at 11 and 11 to the glass.
Nicely done.
So the lead is 12 now approaching a minute left at the block foul called up scores and not to ignore the Georgia Tech fans in the audience.
Mr. Gainey, rolling by the Norcross game, a69 big man in his committed as a junior, also is committed to the yellow.
So there's still hope for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to get you on.
Jones He has not committed yet Tech's on a short list DOBBS spins out of there for the senior, but this guy needs every point they can get.
12 point deficit now, men and five to go to halftime and we'll also see Jodie Meeks later UK signing really an impressive guard he's got it all Patti Smith on hand last night to watch him in this semifinal ballgame and so many good players in the state.
That's testament to where they go, I reckon.
It's really amazing just about every team as a Division one player on it and a lot of guys that didn't make it to the tournament as well.
Going day one, Georgia continue to put out the talent.
Dobbs For the second best of both rebounds clear by rocket jump ball called it'll stay with the Eagles on the last scores across the timeline Jones works in defensively the penetration with the left hook nicely done by John Taylor reference to Rice well that was just a great move.
Switching over to the left hand, the middle of the shot finger roll off the glass softly, softly creative fouls, which was fair.
He got to be happy, are satisfied, at least the way things have gone in this first half basketball.
Well What they wanted to do there was spread Douglas County out, get a good shot and run as much clock as they could.
They've got the lead.
They spread them out and took it to the hoop.
Nice little rocker, missed all the free throw basketball to the Tigers, park across the timeline right side he works it.
Holbrook on the move back to Hart double team Hart can't get it to the Senator forces down low every time Mark Hart handles that basketball to a two and three.
He goes on top of it.
Yeah, he's working hard in there, but he's really overmatched the three guys at least his size, if not bigger in their and Ron Paul at the log for the Tigers all the junior 64 converts on the first 63% from the lob averaging five points per ballgame.
This double sack of free throws have not been tied to the Tigers hopes staff 11 on the move by three nice to leave the had passed the life and laid it in lemons creating George right sided traffic got at the park talked to the celebrate he got it to fall it wasn't pretty but they'll take it but there's 11 back the other way streaky this by the layup basketball to the east the Tigers at Douglas County Little bit of luck there from Douglas County they're going to try to get up a shot 4.8 seconds sharp across the time block fires it up almost got it to fall.
Got a good look at it Baker for the fun off the mark.
I love the leading a 41 to 28 over the Tigers of Douglas County.
Here's Curry has been well pleased with the way his Eagles took over about the end of that first quarter.
Phil Proctor standing by with Coach McCrary Phil.
All right, thanks, guys.
You look like you really wasn't too happy just a second ago.
No, not that we could really the game open this half right here, that second quarter.
We had too many turnovers in that quarter and you guys just want to get on the run and margin.
But that's not the way we want to play and we got to play better own ball defense and force those guys to try to drive when we can jump on the basketball right away.
But right now we just are opening up and allowing the guys to penetrate and that's why they're able enough to dump that ball down low.
They penetrate and this is a shot, but we got to correct that at halftime and.
All right, Coach, good luck to you in the second half.
Thanks lot.
All right.
Back to you guys.
Thank you.
Feel 4128.
The score at the intermission.
It's the Eagles of Columbia all over.
The Tigers of Douglas County will step aside to come back with more from the arena for that center.

This is Georgia Public Broadcasting, your PBS station on your record back here at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
Halftime of the four a boys championship Columbia leading Douglas County, 41 to 28.
And now we go courtside to Phil Proctor Film Center.
All right, Jim, I'm sitting here with the principals, and you can tell that Dr. Thomas Glanton is from Columbia.
And on this, I ran to die.
I like it.
Douglas County, I'll start off with you.
Tell us a little bit about your program.
Well, Coach Boyd's Flying has done a wonderful job at Douglas County High School.
He's taken our kids further than we ever expected.
We play in a tough region, and a getting out of our region was a a dogfight coming through Columbus.
We sort of picked it up there, came in here to Gwinnett.
And of course, right now it looks like we've come upon a tough team and we got a second half and looking forward to that second half and maybe doing a lot better.
So how's that community doing over there?
Douglas County we're excited.
We're excited, beyond belief.
We had a police escort out of out of town this morning and our student body is excited most of all.
I guess the whole community, Douglas County is sort of an old traditional community.
And and when something like this happens, the whole community gets involved with it and gets excited.
Know, if I was a student, get ready to come to Douglas County High, what kind of programs would I be looking at?
Whereas something that's rich in tradition, Douglas County High School is the flagship high school of the system, and without a doubt that's the place to be.
It's got an unique from that standpoint.
We've got an international baccalaureate program, ROTC, comprehensive high school, anything you'd want for a career and a good path to be able to do something with your life.
You almost told me if I had to go back, I'd be coming to see you.
We know something.
We we could set you up for our football team without a doubt.
Okay, I got to go now.
I know I don't want to do that.
Dr. Glanton, on this side of Columbia, how excited is that community over there in Columbia right now?
We are incredibly excited to be here to represent the CAF kind of school system.
Premier Columbia High School is a school that that's on the move.
Moving ahead.
I'm so proud of our basketball team and Dr. Philip McCrary.
So one thing about our athletes, they are both scholars as well.
We have athletes who have qualified NCAA.
We are some the top notch students in our county.
In fact, one of our students thought to score the graduation test.
Who's out here playing here today, Mr.
Lemon?
So excited, community excited.
We've rounded up.
We're here tonight.
Hopefully take it home.
So once again, tell me about some of the programs.
There's a lot of technology out today.
And what are you what's your school doing in that area?
Well, well, thanks to the implementation of our blast, we are undergoing a huge change.
In fact, we're about to undergo some production deployment implement for career academies.
We're going to have five career academies at Columbia High School next year.
So students will be able to choose a career path and then take courses, getting them ready for the real world.
So be excited about that.
I'll tell you what, I'm excited to have both you gentlemen here.
I want to thank you so much.
I want you to shake hands.
I want you to come out in the second half.
I want you to play a great ball game.
Okay?
Hey, do back to you, man.
I feel like I'm in Madison Square Garden getting ready for a bout.
Hey, do good things happening at Columbia and Douglas County.
We'll go back courtside.
Now to Charles Ward and Herb White.
Hey, guys.
Hey, Jimmy.
We are still excited over here as well.
Good first half of basketball, particularly for the Eagles of Columbia.
Yeah.
Again, we were talking about the contrasting styles of play, Charles and how about the first two?
The second quarter Columbia started to take over their size, began to show they got a lot of rebound stick backs.
And then towards the end of that second quarter, they got out was for some slams.
And it's going to be interesting to hear Coach Boyd Stone's comments as he comes out from the halftime first half highlights from the arena.
The Clemons, the junior coming in off the bench for the Eagles and making an immediate contribution inside the paint.
Lightfoot got it done.
Their sock is inside the paint.
He does it as well.
Some action on the other side.
That's Chris Turner in there for the lay in for the Tigers of Douglas.
And down in the corner the freshman Spears rattles home a three for the Tigers trying to keep it close Good rejection inside by Jones on defense there another good defensive play by Jones and the Tigers coming back the other way That's Dobbs the senior quarterback on the football team quarterbacks of the basketball team as well converts on the jumper Just some of that action from the first half first half stats most notable 2128 to score at the break.
Interesting to take a look at the rebounds as well Columbia at 17 and Douglas County at 12.
Nothing really going on from behind the arc in terms of three point shots but the field goal percentages 31 opportunities by the Eagles really tells the story.
Well that and let's look at the bottom figure there of points in the paint you see 28 for Columbia and all of those didn't come off of their set offense.
A lot of those are on the fast break.
And again, it's going to have to be an adjustment by Douglas County.
We'll see what they do after we take this quick break.
We'll step aside and come back to start the third.
Even after 37 years, it's still fresh to a crossroads.
my Cream Rocks first supergroup is back.

But before that the arena had to go that center.
Phil Proctor standing by with coach Whitestone.
Phil.
All right.
Thank you, Coach.
If you get in the game, you said you want to create tempo.
You're down about 13.
What did you tell your team at the half, that being a strong game right now, we give up too many transition layups.
The big man beat us down the floor and we're kind of shellshocked right now, but we emphasize tempo.
Second half, we got to get the ball and down the floor if we're going to play running game and that's that's what we're going to play.
But not let them beat us at our own game.
All right, Coach, good luck to you in the second half.
All right, guys, back to you.
Thank you.
Fill her pots, boy, stoves to make it up fairly well.
Yeah.
And he's right, Charles.
And the reason they're getting beat down the floor is, again, they're not going to take the ball away from those big guys.
Columbia's big guys get the ball.
They haven't taken the ball away from after a rebound yet.
From what I've seen and that's been costing them quite often.
It's created a lot of mismatches down the other end as far as a number of players, and Columbia is taking advantage of it.
And also the Tigers having to work very, very hard to get a decent shot once they get into their halfcourt set and they don't want to do that.
So they're going to have to create, like you said, a lot of pace and get some easier looks.
Tigers will have the basketball first to start us in the second half for a championship on the line.
Tigers at 28 and five on the season Eagles of Columbia 31 at one Jones guarded by Saka in the paint blocking the foul on Saka first nod shooting Carter to about it over the harp from five left.
In short petty off the floor scores at the block price turns with the jumper spins it and out of there whole block clears now down to the corner grabs it Heavy traffic triple team up top Turner on the move inside the paint off was it lucky twice clears for the Eagles They got a break up the floor It's Lightfoot how do you pass that sucker for the dunk.
that's a really nice pass for a69 man on the run.
Charles Jones sort of lost a dribble when it comes to the hard part.
So the senator shot feel good when you get an offensive foul and you're right take a look at the previous play down the floor Lightfoot with a nice alley oop to Saka for the dunk That's great presence mind for the big guy not an easy pass moving to his left and throwing back to the right Got just the right amount arc on it.
Coach Boy Stone called it right that we would expect to see from the Tigers, but the Eagles converted.
They had the basketball that type of story life inside threw it away, stopped cleared they got a three on two right side Turner battled out of bounds Good defensive work by Teddy to top it out this big guy for Columbia not just big there at Charles Yeah they are actually out there running right up and down the floor with Douglas Kanter Jones fires a three didn't have a good look fortunate rebounds cutting clear back side Teddy's got it for the Eagles pressure in the backcourt nice across the floor now at the block price batted away 2 to 1 Jones fakes that bounce up style to Turner Turner for the glass and got it a false late pass by Jones but he got away with it That was the big Tyus does this kind of getting out the snap in the second half the lead is 13 by Columbia scores at the block price travel inside the face Well he saw that wide open lane to the basket and he's already thinking about what kind of throwdown he was going to do but you got to take the ball with you.
So the Tigers got a basket, they get the basketball back just to cut into that lead.
TURNER Quickly at the block he goes Sellers shot rejected by price It's loose on the floor It'll stay with the Tigers.
Are you going to come to something a little stronger than that?
You get the sense that the Tigers are used to putting up shots like that uncontested.
They were this a bigger team for Columbia.
That won't happen.
Holbrook left side in the paint again, stopped his shot short fell short but the rebound by sellers at the clip that full court pressure by the Tigers take the left side steps to the right to the glass.
Shots are good, but they get into the drama.
Took one extra step in there.
But I tell you, Columbia's done a great job of handling Douglas County's pressure.
Very, very few turnovers created by the press today so far.
Here comes Turner and try to get it out at the block to Sellers stops way behind the arc shots off the box sellers with the tap to add the inside position on price for Captain Cook back for the Tigers timeout taken by the coach Macquarie private reserve that leave all that time out Tigers not going quietly into the night Coach Boyd Stone telling his crowd Give us some fire we got to get it.
And sellers coming off the bench and playing aggressively had his first shot blocked, but he got that tip and went strong for that one.
Then the coach fell over there, a little disappointed his team as he reads it's viewers like you that help make great local programs like these high school basketball championships possible on Georgia Public Broadcasting.

Coach McCrory may have a bandage around his wrist from losing a big lead.
The Eagles don't wake up a little bit right here and need now is nine steady handles out front price way away from the basket also down low pushing and shoving doesn't lie down and it's a bit of a PJ hard with the junior had a five at the forum in the back because I can't guard that big guy without putting the form in his back.
Teddy pressured by Turner now over the price whistles down low Saka fighting for position on Jones again you see this problem that size is great.
They can't complain from behind without fouling and they try to reach around and still the size creates another foul.
This restores limbo that just left of the cylinder that's sort of sock it back to stores and traffic threw it away.
Turner clears throat of the floor and he threw it right over the Rucker and the Eagles though get it back.
Stowers trying to make them pay.
He does get the three pointer at the five point swing, had a two on one going the other way.
Douglas County threw it away.
Columbia drains the three backside, three point offering that rubs off the bar rebound fastball put back by Dobbs Fox off the mark basketball for the Eagles.
I'm really impressed with Columbia's defense.
They're playing a matchup zone, Charles.
In other words, they play a212 zone or a three zone with man to man principles.
When the man's in your zone, you play him really hard.
Aggressive sack of copper.
The defense for the easy dunk Turner back the other way at the block now back out front Holbrook on the move to the glass left it shut that rebound tapped around finally cleared by the Eagles Rucker had it but he drew a foul so the Eagles will keep the basketball 354 rim AIDS third quarter.
They have a turnover here too.
I say that the Tigers tipped it.
The Eagles keep it if you get the turnover here that's the travel violation by Rucker didn't quite decide who on the pass to.
we've got about 11 and a half minutes to play and a 14 point deficit.
Douglas County's really got to start stepping it up just to the left block from traffic back up top to give it the shot as Hall hits shots off him off rebound clear by Teddy tigers kicked it under Stay with the Eagles and look you had 4 to 5 Douglas County players still down here and you had two eagles at the other end to say they got the ball out.
It's another slam.
It's almost like they're not really about assignment.
Right.
In terms of the press, everybody's down on the back court side.
Saka in traffic got it to Christ.
I'm scared of stories.
Stories to attract shots off solid spikes for the rebound goes out of bounds.
It stays with the Eagles Eagles just so aggressive you are on the offensive end able to keep that basketball alive at the block.
Bryce had a tap from behind two on one.
Now Tigers, owls Pass a Dobbs Dobbs it and it comes for the Eagles Walker scores the three yes and they force a timeout by Coach Blystone.
Bob's top of the key though left side behind the arc firing a three shot rejected basketball comes clear to Rucker.
Rucker got the slab draws the foul they go to the line All right State came out from under and he came down on his chest.
Think he's going to be all right but they got the wind knocked out.
Having those four before area.
That's the first it's over there that quickly as you take a look at the replay, you might want to close your eyes on this one.
All right, Paul, he did manage to break it just a little bit with his forearms rocket going airborne.
He got the dunk.
But Holly, still down on the surface here at the arena.
Well, we have a 19 point deficit now.
Douglas County is really getting into a point of desperation here, Rocko, to see the upset odyssey.
All that's good to see.
And it wasn't a dirty play, wasn't hit low.
He's just going so fast.
His feet flew up when he got to holds the rim rocker popped up.
He's going to stay in there and shoot the three, three, four free throws.
wow.
232 remains in this third you're up first embarks on the three point flight after like that was Sherman She loved shooting the basket Russell's in the fourth quarter penetration by Hipkins fouled by scores scores a good looking athlete I tell you what he's had two nice looking, three point shots.
He's only a junior looking like a major college prospect.
Six five guard scores, ten points plus per game for the Eagles.
A lot of those players coming back off of that roster as well.
For Coach McCreary narrowly lock season early on the East Hall.
Sokka be the only starter I think that they're losing not getting behind the arc as Dobbs actually left it short he was putting up one of the semifinals of camp on the range tonight but they are set up for the flip back for Douglas County and he handles the basketball and has done a fine job for the Eagles of his basketball offensive of the worst sellers was in the first half.
I don't remember him playing much, but his showing intercepted something here in the third quarter.
Charles is the team was just over six points.
But all good comes off of that bench ready six foot seven and he looks like he's carrying about £215.
And that's exactly what Douglas County needs right now.
Turn out quickly across the time line for Douglas County.
Back to Dobbs Star Cross, give it all back and love it to the glass with a shot.
Nicely done by Dobbs.
Had to change it in mid air Still got it to fall approaching a minute 30 left third quarter LeVert fired over the scores this down so it was just pretty much slam dunk tries to score first guy is goes down hard shaking his left wrist The Eagles last two years in a row lost in the elite eight round loss their first final a fourth appearance since 1997 scores out of the last quarter by the convert although three this is off the mark go rebound for the Tigers up to the left side Turner Turner running jumper takes it home Tough move for a left hander going to his right and shoot him back off the board and the glass as they call it easy steady watch it right side here under a minute remaining.
Third quarter.
Still good defensive work by Typekit Simpkins with the lay it under control and he converts 50 seconds remaining whistles in the back court total.
Got to close it's points, though not.
Real happy with that call it Douglas County's aggressiveness beginning to pay off a little bit.
Charles they cut that margin down to 12 or it'd be big if they could get it a little lower.
The Eagles going to line four to those boys.
Don't try to get another time out thinking, no doubt exactly what you're talking about, perhaps coming to get another basket two before this quarter expires.
They you want to get a good shot when you come down the next time, because if you come down, take a bad shot and the Eagles going to ask again, you're right back in that right.
Big deficit teddy convert.
So the first place cut to make up 16 or 18 points in one quarter.
If you can keep a 12 to 13 or 14, you got a shot there.
You got to take a good guess.
If you think of all that at one time, they're going to cut a little, cut a little more, keep cutting.
Teddy, this dog a second got over to Turner right side kick it of the quarter this year.
The freshman back out to Turner.
Turner jumper from ten.
The river is off the mark twice in traffic and he draws a foul game of inches.
No doubt it looked like Sellers fouled him on the elbow with his lip, but he stepped in there and was aggressive and they're going to call that.
Take a look at the replay bodies on the inside.
the foul sellers got him on the arm but he also caught the ball right in the mouth.
And a tough break for Douglas County.
That one rolled right off the iron.
Had a good look at it.
What I help tremendously the tiger cause to go back instead to the other end of the floor is Jeremy Price, the junior center at the line.
I don't know if Douglas County's got it in him, but I might hold for one right about right here.
Let's see what they do.
Sellers clears it off the floor.
They go to Spears, cross dribbled, lost it really?
The freshman in traffic having trouble hitting the basketball finally taken away by the Eagles.
Eagles throw it away timeout time nice heads up play about this is going down to the floor to get the timeout before he fell out of bounds So with 16.4 seconds left don't miss the GPB original production the Georgia Aquarium Keepers of the Deep.

These spectacular footage of some of the most amazing of the oceans is exclusively on GPB.
You've been out of the aquarium yet not waiting for him to get a mermaid.
That sounds just like the 5542 Douglas County really needs to hold four one here.
Charles If they can get two or three, you get a couple of free throws out of this.
Then they got it down where it is a manageable deficit and you can come back in the fourth quarter with that.
You take a quick shot here and you miss it and Columbia goes down and scores.
It really hurts.
First, the Tigers will have it with 16.4 remaining third quarter Eagles showing full court pressure.
And my lips are sellers here.
The left side is tipped.
It's captain's running jump.
It gets missed, it rebounds.
11 lemons, two stories out of the corner.
Hopkins Alley is what you talked about here.
That's the dunk by price and just that easy that goes for the chance to score at the end of the quarter, too, giving up two Douglas County Court is just as easily got that running poke shot you know with 4 seconds left on the clock instead of with eight or nine 5742.
They're playing for that.
We've got one quarter left.
We'll come back to start it the winner before a champs to the state, just like dragonflies.
And I'd like to suggest to you that inspiration is not something that comes and goes.
This is a whole new look at inspiration.

Back live at the Arena at way that center, we start the fourth of the four championships, Columbia leading at 5742.
As we head into the final quarter, Charles Ward, Herb White, Phil Proctor with a golf four point swing right there again, at the end of the quarter, Charles could have been because now you're looking at a 15 point deficit with Douglas County.
If they do scored and they've got 44 and Columbia's got 55.
So it really hurt to give Columbia that extra shot right at the end of the quarter.
Eagles here have a basket all to start the fourth.
They enjoy that lead.
There's a steal Hampton's got to go ahead to get the lay for the tigers.
That's a good start for Douglas County with a score.
They're not going to slow down and go away.
They're going to keep after Teddy in the backcourt.
Spears right now they the quarter that they're a little late, they're going to get him for the foul.
Tipton's just trying to cover the junior and he runs into Rucker Ross County with that big semifinal win over the Tigers of Tucker to make it to this final ball game.
They beat the Bears of Griffith in the quarter finals, second round ever this holiday to feed it Let's start it tournament action with a win in the first quarter were absolutely Rucker play that was a one and one I don't know what happened there, but Rucker realized it had been one and one.
It was at the side.
Definitely was a one on one.
We've only got eight foul that was a nine foul, so we weren't shooting the automatic too, and he wasn't in the active shooting.
So he slipped up there by our officials and be interesting to see who they come up with here.
It's not going to make Coach McCreary happy.
Whichever way you put the city, you're not going to give him the basket.
That's like, I can build a do over.
Well, they're trying to explain to the coaches what they're going to do.
That was a screw up by the officials, basically, because had the guy, that man at the line shooting a one and one and he mis got his own rebound and nobody knew what was going on.
Everybody thought they were shooting, too.
So they're just going to give him the ball out of bounds.
It's strange.
We never even did that.
How coach would carry it.
Coach Boyd still kind of got a laugh at about that resolution as well.
Leavitt's out front throughout the well.
Teddy also, you know, the Eagles are going to be as deliberate as possible.
It's put down the floor right to the rack shot fell off Sellers commits the foul.
it's really a nice look by Storrs is a quick look across the lane slips it back behind him pretty dry still and looking at that left wrist as you look at the replay.
Good luck to the big man and the push from behind.
One of the trees, the jab it passes that he's got such soft hands that he showed a there of that play.
He missed all the free throw that got ten points six rebounds that did under was average in terms of points per game as he misses up a second.
Jones with time for the rebound he was fouled by Russell the previous quarter against each possession big now for Douglas County when they come down the floor Charles 13 point deficit they've got to score just about every time down here but Jones has not been able to just get off of his mobile pattern and we'll see what he does this last quarter pressure, there was a double team that was able to tough it out of the quarter.
Two dives now back to Jones up top thought three foul will fire the three the rivers off the back rebound Teddy this loose Jones guys thought this was a good pass across the floor shot was missed by PIP gives up he's tied up with those down low officials call a foul on the eagles that just kind of got lucky there Pipkin missed maybe Crip should have made that and Columbia call for the foul that's going to be their sixth so no shot yet restores doubt involved with that play get it up slow for the Eagles on the replay there there's a clip you talked about that one should have made and he missed it here tied up they'll get the basketball back up up top There's the shot 15 seconds off the mark as well.
Not a flurry of activity, but no points for it, no baskets.
Tigers have had a tough time, but very good baskets outside, inside the paint that will get to get the price solo sellers was trailing it is a that's the foul for the first tries at six eight but so mobile inside the paint look at the replay just beating sellers to the spot might have hurt that wrist remember hurt it there is in the first half it looked like on those last two free throws it might be bothered him a little bit Charles and see what he does here but first McCray is going to tell his guys, look, we don't have to force up a quick shot now.
Take our time.
We can find the big fella.
Let's do it.
622 remains in this for a championship.
Chris had 11 points in the semifinal long game.
As the heavy sellers fires out.
Sellers did the start for the Tigers, but he did provide a spark for the guys.
Six points and 5000 hurricane.
But he gave it all he had three did, and that's why we didn't see him in the first half.
He would have fouled out and that's Coach Boyd.
Stone knows his guys, but going over, getting a pat on the tail and he deserves it.
He's a senior.
So his last opportunity was so they take price out of the lineup and Saka the senior will come in to replace him shooting from the line.
So that wrist may be a little bit more serious.
Just as you indicated, her baby having a problem with a socket convert.
So the first was out of both for the Eagles, soccer had 18 points of the city final ball game Tigers working at the block and hard pops for the quiet goes to the sitter the best on the shot fight for the rebound it comes clear to Jones immediately double team down in the corner now on the blues this is on the play Holbrook to slide call the foul on 11 this second row with price out of the ballgame Douglas County trying to take it it inside a little bit got a couple of shots off and they're just able to sneak a peek their price on the sideline wrap that left hand expected to come back into the contest.
AJ Holbrook couldn't get that first free throw to go.
Jeremy Light said to see you're back on the field for the Eagles holds up for the second one of two full court pressure now by the Tigers Teddy the left side now it's up top is Stowers and he had a tap from behind but he regains cross the field limits out of stalls, scores at the block back out front.
Smart play star has had the open look.
The run clock He they are running it down now store back out front They get a rocket at the post.
Thought they left him alone from ten.
Yes.
That's exactly what you want out of that extended offense.
The old right side in the corner for two Holbrook shots off the mark.
Dobbs got the rebound looking in the corner to Jones it double to the but they take it away Let me just had a squad of five Jones so Jones commits to fire I like stores good looking guy reminds me of Phil Schneider I don't know if you remember him.
Charles I used to play against the NBA years ago, but a65 guard who could really had a pretty straight I remember sitting well.
Well, it's yes, stars are working out from the locker room and saw Teddy hadn't scored minutes for us four Boy has he run that evil offense tonight inside the safety step at the 11 three this time the chips and fire but the rebounds cleared by Rucker the whistle injured Tiger down in the paint gets his numbers down.
D.J.
Holbrook it's like Holbrook and they do right Hurt it.
JJ I was battling inside and got hit pretty hard and came down off of position on that leg.
Try to make it toward that Tiger side.
Now let's see if we could decide what happened inside.
All right.
Got stepped on.
It looked like coming down after that shot.
He was stepped on.
It, took the punishment, took a hard shot initially and then stepped on So insult game boy for injured Andrew 6145.
The score Eagles leading at right now it looks I guess against a Holbrook that we may not see him back at his ballgame this would be his last day.
The outside of it is where the 40 he says is the inside.
Any time that he is involved, surely it want to see that in there.
I think a lot of converts for 34 for 24.
Brett approaching desperation Patrick Jones for Douglas County now I don't know if they've made a three point shot all day or they could sure use some.
Now we talked about this big a game of which team would assert their will pretty much from the get go.
Say the first few minutes were tied attempted after that it was all eagles back the other way, shot rejected inside Harden penetration by Pickens but the taller price able to easily bat it out of bounds very very few easy looks at the basket today for Douglas County on the left side tied up by scores Storrs commits to five and you got to credit that Columbia zone defense again that matchup zone can really create problems Coach Chaney use that at Temple for many many years and a lot of folks want it and interesting should say that of we talked about this before he gave it up but Coach McCrary actually pads his ball club after the tip Miles and John say, there you go.
I didn't realize I pulled it out of your hand.
That is scarier.
I knew you know, it took me a little while to see that zone, what exactly they were playing.
And it's tough to catch that match up this year.
You know, if you haven't seen him in a while.
But it's a great defense.
If you can sell your guys on playing it, talk to him the other night after the semifinal ball game that he told us that the record that Dick Cheney is a defender his and I study that, but I have to sort to take some of the lessons of the Temple Owls was actually introduced to John Chaney by a legendary coach here, the Atlanta area, Clark Atlanta University.
Well, again, I didn't quite get to finish my thought on it before.
When you're in the it's a you set up like a regular two one, two or three three zone defense.
But each time come the offensive man comes into the zone.
You play him an aggressive man to man instead of just play in the zone as you would on a normal zone and you switch a lot.
And it's just it confuses the offense and it's certainly done that to Douglas County today, although they're not really a halfcourt set team anyhow.
But Columbia's been able to get back and they're just kind of a manager to run and they've had to go up against that defense and it's just been too tough for the last couple weeks.
The scoreboard tells a story 6345 for 19 remains in this basketball game for a state championship on the line.
I believe the team has won it for the Eagles.
One of the ways so the Eagles, with their first 30 win season of the campaign this year.
So they turn in a five regular season performance and capping it off tonight.
He had a great performance at his final contest.
I wouldn't be surprised to see these guys back in here again next year.
Charles with all the size and all the talent they have coming back.
We're looking for them again, a young team that plays aggressive, both sides of the floor and the receivers are there.
PRICE You indicated.
Glad that you're out of order UGA, but he still got another year here before he does that.
But Saka one of those seniors that we highlighted in the pregame show so a little good performance today sharp at the lot for the tigers he converts well tigers going for four pressure Travis Leslie the sophomore hunter for the Tigers beat the Eagles stolen away by the tigers to the glass with a lay and Holbrook to the basket trying to rally defensively the back the other way Leslie Witt for the stuff he missed but Staley with the lay in those Rucker Rucker cleans it up and has Tommy Brennan more buddies.
They just look good missing.
That's what he did.
He sure did in this that's taking his strong to the hoop that's coming off the bench as well.
And with Leslie just inserted into the lineup that's skyscraping off the floor, you know for sure it just tear him back to the Tigers and they scored Jones This is the first soft back I have saw the second ahead had it know that Holbrook this kid on the outside of his do it is questionable as to whether he'll return things stay the way that they are.
back just a junior big boy still there.
I want to ask you to sort of record that just at the block fighting out he missed this the Tigers claw recovers Jones behind the arc raises fires hit the back of the cylinder case in the corner and they call the foul on Jones 316 with Ames Douglas County not able to connect on anything from outside.
KARL And of course there's nothing inside now with the size of that Eagles defense.
So as really imperative the Douglas County get out on the break and get some easy baskets that way or else find some jump shots and they really haven't been able to do either one.
And their 30 points under their scoring average.
Well, you can't fault those boys, don't.
They talked about that as a strategy.
But execution against a team like the Eagles is really difficult.
Is easy.
Sure.
And you can't change what brought you to the tournament.
Gets to the dance.
You got to stick with it.
And unfortunately, they just ran up against the team that did not match up well against Jordan.
Love of the gym has been anything but a little.
His performance for the Eagles this afternoon.
But one fine job for the set for the second got them both anthems heard He fought off legs off the mark soccer players over to turn it over to let them let all the tigers can do at this point reminder that the wheelchair finals coming up next Saturday they will pack versus west Georgia.
Herb, you're going to be around for that one as well.
Only Dave Barnett going to sit down with him for the wheelchair finals here from the arena, etc.. Yeah, well, it's always a great time and hearts not going to give up any dunks in there.
He may be down 17 points, but he's not going to let somebody throw down on him at this stage of the game.
And I was looking at the Douglas County stat sheet.
They really don't have anybody.
Over 34% is their highest three point shooter.
So they're not they're really a three point shooting team and they're not used to playing from behind.
That's the big issue.
Absolutely right.
That's the three that was off the mark.
If there is a three point shooter for the Knicks, Dobbs and Dobbs just has not been able to find a raise this afternoon.
LeBron's tied up a bit front court now puts it on the floor.
Timeout, a timeout taken by Coach McCrary.
He's 2 minutes 20 seconds remains what we talked about that defense before the game is Columbia that only had seven out of 32 teams scores and 50 points against them and you figured Douglas to put up some points but boy, they're right about there with the Eagles people.

I know it's been fun working with you again.
Herb Proctor of Sideline.
The good ballgame, particularly for the Eagles of Columbia on the inbound play and muscling it up to the basket.
The soccer turner left side, Dobbs drops.
He can't touch it now.
And as comes the way the price a little rocker dropped it back up for six.
And boy, is that going to stay up.
He grabbed it home shaky with the goal Fire going three is fierce.
I don't know if it'll stop Raveling before they get back on their end of the floor.
There is another level.
It's high off the glass rebound.
Spears under.
2 minutes later, Turner fires a three and he misses.
Well that's the theory behind the breakaway rim charge that hadn't been a breakaway win.
They would have broken away with that one broken ground I mean at 24.
Coach McCreery and got to get some of his subs in here just to allow the fans to say congratulations to the players that have really gotten in here and won this for a title for them.
Well, those subs at the play against those guys every day give them somebody to play against so they earn their trip to the state championship, too.
And some great action coming up.
And we've got a girls game coming up fast.
While was going to be one of the great players I think maybe the best all around girls player and Georgia history and Maya moore I mean she is Taja Humphrey was a great player and there's been some other great girls coming out of Georgia.
But Maya moore, from one end of the floor, the other in the open floor is as good as I've ever seen.
I don't think you'll get much argument around the state about that.
And just the junior.
So the Eagles going with a full set of different players now to finish out this for a championship will likely see some stops of coach Dwight Stone at his Tigers as well.
And one thing these kids will always be able to say, they remember playing at the state finals.
Still all their dogs laid off with a fire for the height of the arc.
Dobbs has back to the world.
I know that reporter all afternoon.
I don't care.
I don't believe douglas county's had a three.
I could be wrong.
I was once back in 66.
Is that the time you thought you were wrong?
But you're right.
I didn't have to steal.
But it goes out of bounds.
And the beach back in the championship, it's been 1967.
They won the state championship the year after I graduated from high school.
A great team back there.
Gator Rivers played on that team, went on to play for the Harlem Globetrotters.
They were really an exciting team.
First year that the schools, the GHC, they had integrated competition.
Yep these able to win that had you South Fulton Bay Druid Hills by about 35 or 40 in the semifinals.
Everybody's had more they're great beats came in and beat them by 35 or 40 in the championship.
So there for the easy day as Gary as well as he gets his his days into the record books and I'm not a guy not to admit I'm wrong I was just informed that Douglas County three for 20 actually three for 24 now and their three point shot so they had made three back the other way.
All related.
It was Lattimore, but he missed So the Eagles of Columbia High School first year they get 30 plus wins they go 32 of the one on the season.
But more importantly, they get a stuff there to close it out as they win this for a title.
Just a few seconds left, but what a performance by the Eagles of Columbia High School and the time will run out.
Get out of the bore, sitting on the floor with the basketball.
And now the floor is full of eagle faces Columbia and he's Decatur.
They actually have a Decatur mailing address out there as Columbia dress and can hang your hair this year.
The Douglas County Tigers, they beat the number one seed the other night and Tucker got to the championship game and gave it all they had.
They just ran into a juggernaut today, no question about it.
The hype was a factor we talked about in the pre game that showed itself tonight.
But even the higher the lower the Eagles just play the floor so well.
So how much of a factor the weather would have been 7850 your final score Eagles of Columbia win the for a championship we'll step aside and Jim Donato will be back to take you to the postgame Just quickly Gillette champ.
And I'd like to suggest to you that inspiration is not something that comes and goes.
