Live from the Gwinnett Center, it's the voice for a high school basketball championship, the Maize Raiders against the Miller Grove Wolverines.
What a game we should have this afternoon.
Hi, everybody.
Stu Plotnick, along with my partner, as always, Herb White.
Our pleasure to be bringing you all the action live from the Gwinnett Center this afternoon.
What a game we have in this first one.
It's the long and short and that literally is the story.
Well, it's going to be quite a size discrepancy between these two teams.
Miller Grove, defending champions, has a lot of size, but Collin Cook, six foot six center for this.
May's team blocked 13 shots in the semifinal so he can hold his own inside the paint Stuart.
Well, one of the keys to this game is going to be a guy that can shoot it from the outside.
That'd be Allawi's cable for this May's team.
He averages 24 points a game, so he pours in a lot of points.
And he wasn't having a great game against Bainbridge the other night up until about the last 2 minutes.
And he got six key points in that one to get the win in the semifinals.
But he needs to score some points for this team tonight for them to hang in there with the defending champion starting lineup for May.
Looks like this.
It's a smaller lineup with Kasey Strong, Palmer Cabell and Cook, the big guy who is going to have to rebound the game plan for these guys tonight.
Here's Coach Ford.
Matt, here today in the state finals.
Oh, it means a great deal.
You know, we haven't been here since in five years.
And we had to rebuild the program a little bit after the back to back championship.
We lost a lot of talent, but we got it back where we wanted to be to continue being successful.
And this is a special group, not as talented as the pass groups, but they are very, very, you know, unique in their chemistry and everything and how they came together the second half of the season.
So it means a great deal.
Well, these are great deal.
All these high schools on the other side, they are young and they are tall and they are big and they know how to win, no doubt about it.
And Don to Williams is one of those big guys at six foot nine.
And he's a guy you want to keep your eye on.
He gets about 11.7 points a game and right at ten rebounds a game.
And there's a lot of schools looking at this young man and look at the size of the starting lineup, five, eight, five, eight in the backcourt and others Brooks Brandon Morris and the big guy, Donte Williams, six six, six, seven, six, eight.
The game plan for this Miller Grove team is kind of simple.
Yeah, they'd like to get it up and down the hill.
It means a lot.
It means our kids put in a lot of a lot of hard work to get to this point.
And I'm glad, you know, we set we set goals all year long and for us to see these goals coming to life is big for these kids, not only just from a basketball perspective, but just from a general life perspective.
If you work hard at anything, you achieve what you're working hard for.
And I think that's the essence of what's going on today.
You know, getting back from a championship year and getting back to the same game the following year, it says a lot for the character and the hard work these kids put forth.
The coaching staff administration.
Oh, MG Family, just talk to the coach.
Look what we're doing.
He is really built on last year, very competitive in practice and his team has really shown what they're made of.
They're going to be around for a while.
Yeah, it's very tough to win back to back championships.
Just ask Coach Mack.
He was just talking about his Mase team did that.
But Miller Grove has got a great shot at it.
Let's hear tonight's starting 11 to the number four.
R.J. Strong at forward a61 senior number 11.
Easy pull, Murray at guard, a six foot senior.
Number 12, Eloise Comer and Exeter, a66 junior, number 30 to pool.
Mays is coached by Floyd Mac.
Now let's meet the starters for the Miller go Wolverines at guard a six the junior number three Thomas Marshall at guard, a63 junior.
Number 14.
Davon DuBose at forward a six day Joe number 22 him brought that forward a six drive.
Sophomore number 31, Brandon Morris And that center, six nine senior number, Mercury, John Jay Williams Miller goes sit back and relax.
The four boys high school basketball championship is next time Mr.. We've had some folks suggest that after watching Jon Nelson handle the rock on the camera today that we need to send him to summer basketball camp, use some of the money for that.

This is Georgia Public Broadcasting, your PBS station, serving all of Georgia.
Welcome back to the four high school basketball championships.
Our man on the sidelines tonight, Gerald Ellsbury.
Gerald, who Will Miller Grove is the defending state champion, but it wasn't necessarily expected that they'd be here today.
They had seven seniors last year.
This year they have seven sophomores, but they expected to be here.
That's why they adopted the slogan No Game three Twelves in OG m312, which stands for Not our Goal Our Missing 312 which is the date Today marks the 12th.
So let's see if they can finish that mission as we get ready for this game as well.
Gerald Both are on a mission.
Miller drove in their purple and white.
It is amazing that Carolina blue and yellow and we are underway for us for a championship.
Wolverines in control.
And all of a sudden you see me starting on the zone three three zone.
Have those big guys under they want to make names for themselves, the Wolverines for themselves from the outside huffing no good all over the boards for the second shot and no call on the defense, the rest letting the play.
And that's what we're going to look for.
Second and third shots, we'll have a jump ball.
Well, Richmond Academy was really battling Miller Grove in the paint the other night in the semifinals and holding them down pretty well, holding their own with the big guys.
But there is Fulton.
The guard came off the bench.
He's averaging 8.8 points a game as senior guard poured in 17 in that game to kind of pull milligrams bacon out of the fire, so to speak.
The other night, referees are talking one called the jump ball and the other called a foul.
So let's see what we got.
And I think a referee.
Overruled.
So here we go.
It will be amazing to control Wolverines with the full court pressure.
Yeah.
Colin Cook got his hand on that one.
And as we mentioned, he blocked 13 shots in the semis the other night.
Token pressure in the back court.
That strong and control looking underneath to the big guys just underway here in the class for a high school basketball championship inside with a good look there.
Boy and nothing going there it will be Wolverines ball Miller Grove opened up a opened up in his own Miller Grove opened up man to man that time to Maye stays in there two three zone wolverines take it outside and our patient walking around with just under a minute Go alley oop lay up shot it How about that jab And it doesn't get much better than that by Crane as he throws it down.
So on the board to bottom and Morris way up for that one.
A lot of young talent in this game Herb Morrison only six five he had both elbows up at the rack on that one only a sophomore throughout the state playoffs.
It's amazing how deep the talent is and how young the talent is.
It is amazing that way.
It just keeps coming along.
Every year the Wolverines stand their man to man.
Mase will be looking underneath, taking their time.
Still on the play.
Here comes another dunk with that man.
He just threw it down.
And it is.
Morris started the game with a couple of jams.
He's going to have a high percentage tonight if he keeps getting those shots.
Here it is again.
Good job by Mase not to foul on that one.
He was going to throw that one down.
So just under way for nothing of two dunks as the jumper goes up and no good and wolverines controlling the boards and what a break.
What guy goes inside.
No go and the other way we go with Bomber and the rebound up and they're letting him play off how stay they're letting him play It may have been a little body contact on that one.
I know Floyd Mac thought so And some of the Mase contingent over there in the stands.
Let's take a look see if he didn't get them.
He was actually off balance.
There's a good call by the official as usual and allies.
The man that will do the scoring for this Mase team up with the jumper in the corner.
Nice looking shot, but no go.
And here come the Wolverines with a controlled break just underway.
First quarter end foul.
They're out front.
Don't believe they got him on the shot.
Let's see it on the dribble.
This sixth straight year, both teams come for Metro Atlanta.
If you can recruit in metro Atlanta, you are going to have a good college basketball team.
Well, both Bainbridge and Richmond Academy gave a good shot to get somebody from another part of the state, but couldn't quite pull it off in the semis.
They still in the zone, effective as they are.
Three on two.
There comes the man and that is why he's the leading scorer, Campbell with the two points and work for two.
Nice job using the rim to keep the bigger players familiar Milagro from blocking that shot and May is going to have to shoot a good percentage to because they're not going to get a lot of offensive rebounds against this big front line of Miller Grove Miller Grove tall on the inside, up and off the backboard and no good.
We talk about teams to keep their eye on this.
Miller Grove team has seven sophomores, six players, six, five or better students.
We're going to be seeing some more of them down the road is what you're trying to tell me, right?
Yup.
Wolverines to trigger inside just underway here to get that center for a boys championship maze remains in their zone.
Defense Wolverines remain patient to the hole up with the jumper no good rebound lays at it is out of bounds and it's going to go back to Miller Grove Nice play.
Wolverines maintain possession like Tony Parker was able to throw that off one of the maze players as he was going out of bounds.
He's playing that zone Miller girl trying to go inside and another foul and that's what we're going to see all this afternoon where you try to play that zone defense to keep the ball from getting inside.
But Miller Grove has been able to do it so far.
And you also play a little zone hoping not to get in foul trouble.
This Wolverine team team here just off of a one point win in the semis.
So we're under action and it is underway with most of the play over the rim.
We're right back with the boys for a high school basketball championship.

Agents are proud of the achievements of GHC student athletes and are committed to promoting teen driver safety through our Steer Clear program and better team driving icon like a good neighbor.
State Farm is their resource.
We're going to go on.
There you have it for two Miller Grove over maize.
You're looking at that maize funnel.
You know that Coach Mack has been here now three times.
He says this is the least experienced team that he's had and he just wanted to get the kids out here early, just to get them relax, just to get them acclimated, just to get them ready for what he knows is in store in a championship game.
Yeah.
And he feels like this is not his most talented team as well.
Again, he won the championship in 2425, but he thinks these guys play really well together and that's evident.
They're here on the inside trying to force it underneath and it works that time to the big guy Tony Parker, only a sophomore listed at six nine saw Collin Cook with the foul and maize can ill afford to have that young man get in foul trouble.
He's really the only guy with any size to match up with the Miller Grove front line and no good on the first.
But Collin Cook tells the story of his growing up.
His mother is six foot four and a former basketball player and she didn't think he was very fortunate and much of an offensive player when he was young.
She said, Son, practice your defense and concentrate on that.
And that's what he's done and he's become a heck of a defensive center.
Parker Six, nine and still growing Coach says it could be six, 11, seven feet by the time he leaves outside.
Long and no good Wolverines control and looking for the break to turn it over and back.
We go with cable keeping things under control, looking underneath and going into the trees.
And it's a little offensive foul that through the elbow, maybe shooting a little too quickly, in my opinion.
They need again, they're going to have to shoot a high percentage.
They need to look for good shots, too, because Milagros not going to give a lot of second shot opportunities.
There you see a glimpse of Coach Mack, played his college ball at La Grange College, said he was a defensive player more than an offensive player.
I remember when he played Mayes remains in the zone trying to keep those big guys off the board for two midway through the first quarter.
And there's a travel turnover.
That's what Mayes trying to do, Coach saying settle it down.
Coach White said The good thing about this team is he's got so many big guys to practice against each other.
Sometimes you're not used to go right.
It's a six, five, six, eight guys.
They do it every every day in practice.
Man to man by the Wolverines.
Mayes slowing it down a bit, trying to look inside themselves.
Good defense by the Wolverines, especially on the perimeter.
There's the man who will be doing most of the scoring, averaging just over 24 points a game it is Cabell taking some clock off inside, and that's what's going to happen.
Wolverines with the block and turnover leads to a easy hope with the follow up for Henry Brooks.
And once again, that size from Miller Grove.
Doing the job inside and Darren provokes has drawn the task of guarding alloy cable and he's six foot three and long arms He's giving him some problems.
Well, the good thing is you can play him tight.
You got the trees back there to block it If he goes to the hoop.
Long shot, no good.
Rebound control by the Wolverines.
We said to keep your eye on those rebound totals because that could be one of the stories of this game six two with just under 3 minutes to go first quarter quite a boys high school basketball championship.
Good to have you along.
Well, the board that Mayes has to worry about is their defensive boards, too.
Absolutely right.
Any offensive boards they get will just be gravy against this front line.
And they've got to keep Milagro from getting second and third shots, which they've been able to do so far.
Wolverines a little impatient.
Herb try to force it into those big guys and that's a couple of turnovers in the last possessions as well.
It's keeping Mayes in the ballgame right now.
Mayes looking to find a way to solve this tall front line.
And again, they're doing a good job right so far.
And I'll always quibble.
Now, Wolverines remaining in the back of that plane tied outside.
They've got those trees inside and there's Cabal to the hoop and a little wild shot.
Here we go the other way.
Looking to break.
Oh, yeah.
That's a nice left hand by Morris had a couple of dunks just so far.
Blues sure does a two low scoring game, but so far Wolverines in control, doing it off the glass, getting the break going, Raiders trying to find something underneath to the hoop and it will be a foul.
That's what impresses me a lot about the young players at today's do back in my day had enough trouble going right handed and the guys today use both hands on just about everybody.
It's really nice to see it.
They've really worked on that the coaches over the last couple of decades for sure bought into the line for two.
Or maybe it was just me that could only use one hand.
I was like, It's only the first game that I'm doing this year.
I've got three more left, so I'm not going to make any jokes this year.
But there goes cable.
He's a number 12.
He's their leading scorer.
And you know what?
He's going to have to.
I think, get the ball up a little inside because they are playing tight on him.
They're going to let him go to the hoop, suck it up by boring.
Now, he's really doesn't have much of an inside attack, especially against this Miller Grove team.
But they're going to have to find a little bit.
Cook is a great defensive center.
He's not really a scoring center.
Mays remains in that zone defense way outside, trying to show some range.
No good wolverines maintain possession and this is a darting taking some chances very quick Mays defense in the front of that zone.
Oh Mayes had that rebound an inside position but they let the guard come in and take it away.
Doris Fulton, who came in the other night, I mentioned him.
The senior guard came in and poured in 17 in the semifinals student to really pull it out for Miller, drove underneath.
And that's what they do and how they do it.
Big man to Big Man.
The Wolverines do it, and it'll be Dante Williams going to the line.
And I don't know if Coach Mack uses a press much, but he may have to.
There we see the replay on the foul but as big as this Miller Grove team is, they may be susceptible to pressing.
So it'll be interesting to see what Coach Mack employs if the game starts spreading out a little bit.
Dante Williams Solid numbers throughout the year, pretty good form from the big guy so coach told me range 15 in in he'll work on that as he goes to the next level.
And if you like big players stick around for the five eight.
But Pittsburgh got some more really tall players coming up in that ballgame in the finals there.
Milton of course with three or four guys at six foot nine and Westlake also with a couple of fine big players.
Williams Oh for two so with just under a minute to go Mays hanging in there at 8 to 3 Let's the drive with the ball What's the shot up there Nicely done by Homer Casey Yeah good job took his time didn't force it drew the defender up in there just a little off balance and hit the short jumper.
Mays normally shifts from zone to man to man, but I have a feeling they're going to go with all that height.
With the zone.
Most of this team game we shall see up and no good by Ruffin, but they are getting it inside here.
Well, that's an excellent interior pass.
And Tony Parker and the other Miller Grove players just pass it right over the top of that zone right now.
And they're always looking inside when they get that ball around the foul line, you can break that zone down.
We're up in a senior six five only.
We were talking before the game.
Sometimes like in college, they'll exaggerate the heights.
I saw this team coming in.
It looks like a college game.
They're all legit.
One of those teams, it looks good coming off the bus.
And then when they get off the bus, they look pretty good on the court to a second or two.
Great crowd here in a great arena.
I love coming here to go.
Now, this is a super place for basketball Wolverines with that core pressure.
Nine five is our score trying to break the press, going to the hoop and doing it quite nicely.
Is Jonathan Williams only a sophomore?
Well, I asked if Maze was going to employ some press and look at that.
Miller Grove turns around and puts a full court trap on and May's handled it nicely.
This Wolverines look like they're going for the last shot of the quarter may sting in that zone, starting the offense with about 20 seconds to go.
The guys just perched underneath one that ball calling for a long three point shot.
Nicely done there as Fulton continues his hot shooting from the semifinals and he's coming off that bench and given Miller Grove a lift in the last two ballgames, Fulton gives him that senior leadership.
So just with 4 seconds to go, Wolverines will get one more shot to get a hoop before this first quarter comes to an end up and down.
Pretty good for well, don't foul here if you're Mays and try not to give up an easy three look for an alley oop here.
Let's see if they try something underneath.
Just toss it high another three wide open and knocks it down.
Doesn't get any better than Justin Calvin with a beautiful three as they close it out 15 to 7 in the first quarter.
Others for a high school basketball championship.
Thanks for watching.

It is Milagro, 15 May 7 to 10 at Curb Light, bringing you all the action from the Gwinnett Center.
And you know, Herb, that makes zone defense doing okay underneath.
But you got it.
You've got to give up something.
They gave up a couple of long ones at the end of the quarter.
Yeah.
Milagros, two for three on three pointers.
And they both came in the last eight or 10 seconds.
And I had just finished saying, you don't want to give up a wide open three because you're only down two now you're down eight.
First time in state basketball championship after winning back to back titles in 2000 14,005 Mesa's Aaron Mays will be here for a long time.
A lot of good young talent, but getting pressure right now and wolverines seem to be turning it up a notch on the perimeter.
Right.
I'll always cable is really working to get open.
But number 14, as I mentioned, Bravo's PROBOSCIS is really sticking to him.
And I think you're just altering the guy's arm.
And that's what they're going to do.
They're going to put different guys on and there's a foul.
Well, people are going to look to help out, that's for sure.
But PROBOSCIS is doing a good job.
Like I said, he's a long six three and he's making it tough for all of us to get the ball has to pull the trigger dangerous pass outside.
Do they control all over him and this cabal controlling to the hoop trying to get it underneath this could be dangerous.
You don't want to throw it up over there with all those trees.
Nice look long.
Three pointer off the rim and Mayes trying to battle.
And it will be Raiders ball Wolverines ball Well nice ball movement there You know you're getting old when the coach you thought was one of the players coming in the bell Nice look over to Causey wide open three in the corner couldn't knock it down Mayes remains in that zone and there the Wolverines go finding the hole again.
Six, eight.
Henry Brooks drops it in from about 15 Brooks with good range double to the hole blocked shot Here we go the other way Wolverines looking for the break in the numbers three on three to the hole up in in nicely done by Clements coach Mack got to be thinking about a timeout a couple more of those credits on one end Marshall on the other end finishes it up there's Cabell trying to go to the hoop.
Nothing there has got Holmes is rushing their shots through.
They've got to take their time.
Here you go.
And you see the block on the other end against Campbell.
And that was Campbell going.
And sometimes when you're a big time scorer, you can start forcing a little.
Yeah.
And Parker's got the long arms at six nine and maybe just needs to work the ball little don't be in such a rush Trouble from coast to coast nothing doing all the headlines so decides to take the three and that was off balance and off the mark came down off balance looking for the foul but didn't get it.
Mayes will keep the possession and wolverines in that looks like a23 up now they're going to match it up so they're still in the man to man a lot of teams will go zone on the out of bounds play but Milagro keeps it man to man the whole time.
Mays getting second shots here but not getting any sort of rebounds And good looks will get it.
They'll bring it back up, but nothing underneath.
As Cabell trying to work around the other side looking for that is not him.
That is a shot, that is force strong and it is strong, very strong.
Little out of control Wolverines get it back Dipsy do.
Nicely done Thomas Marshall with a behind the back pass for Miller go to head repeat Brooks looking pretty good only a junior will never six three junior and Mayes trying to keep in touch 21 to 7 Oh yeah Coach Mack up he's on the verge of calling a timeout This thing slip away a little bit.
Well, it can happen in a hurry because this will receive a block in the other way.
We saw at the beginning of the game with a couple of dunks.
They're tremendous.
On the transition Mason down looking way out.
Well, it's a perfect storm Milagros got the big guys it can deny you defensively and they can also play on the other end as well They do and they've got some quickness out on the perimeter so just playing time.
Oh, nice move.
Great move.
But poll strong by cable that shows you why you can get 24 a game.
Man.
He made two or three moves right there and finished with the left hand.
That's big time that's strong.
But boy, he's having to work to get him straight.
Well, there you see, it makes four for 17.
They haven't had an uncontested shot yet, Milagros, kind of couple of wide open looks and dumps.
Mays remains in that zone.
Defense Wolverines remain going high to low, looking underneath for the big guy and instead just takes the jumper no good.
And there's a second chance we talk about Mays with strong leading the way slows it down a bit.
The ball looking way outside goes up with the jumper and man on man.
He is a big time scorer.
The little two dribbles a step back and drains it.
And that was a beauty slowly creeping back in the game.
It's now a ten point game.
Wolverines still going in, attacking that may zone defense big guy underneath and he will go to the line No aggressive defensive move by the maze zone but they get called for it.
Couldn't see who it was they tried to collapse because he got called to the foul.
Tony Parker at the line missed a couple last time.
Let's see what he does this time.
Again.
Six, nine.
Sophomore at least not your lanky six nine Tony Parker.
He's well-built young man.
This one up nice structure.
Nicely done.
And I'm gonna imagine they have some pretty good battles that Villa grow in practice.
Substitutions for the Wolverines who go about 82nd one up and the second one bounces around and gets the shooters just strong.

You know, GPP is becoming really high school Sports Central's last two years we've been doing a weekly game on our webcast high school football.
This year we went basketball, weekly games and on a webcast.
It's been great.
The other day, a few weeks ago, I went out were Decatur High School, my old high school, and in the new facility there, a great new facility in Decatur High School.
Let's go to Gerald courtside with an update.
As we just saw Tony Parker shoot those free throws.
He actually got a chance to play in Argentina this past summer for the USA 29 FIBA Americas U16 Championship, and they won the gold medal.
So he'll be going back to San Antonio this June.
And if he's selected again to get a chance to go to Germany and rack up some more frequent flier miles as they play for the world championships this year.
Back over to you.
Still up and no good, but going to the live ball and cook, going strong for the dunk and MG have gone to a zone looked like a32.
That's the first time we've seen him go zone high strong move and drew the fouls Collin Cook another one of these juniors, Herb only six six.
And as Gerald was alluding to, that's one of the more amazing things that's changed to got what a little loss for these kids nowadays.
Herb When we were in high school, we played against teams in our county.
Now they play out of state now, Gerald said.
Out of the country, there's a world of good, great experience for these young men to travel around like that and get those opportunities.
Cook makes the second and I think Coach White says, Hey, we've got a 12 point lead.
We're just going play a little zone, sit on that, lead a little bit.
And Cook was able to convert one two credit to 11.
Mays remains in their zone.
Wolverines is always looking hot, low and looking for the three pointer.
And again, if they do that with ball hitting, they're in big trouble.
Well, I told you before the game he doubled his average.
The other night in the semifinal, averaging 8.8 and got 17 and four.
He's on pace to do that again this evening.
Well, you got it.
You've got to do one of two things.
He's got to play those big guys tough underneath and you got to give up the outside shot.
Fulton is hitting it in this three two zone.
They're going to try to shut down that outside shooting of Aloy's Cable because they've got some size out front to keep them from pulling up and shooting that jump shot.
It's going to be tough to find something inside.
He's taking the time, looking for the holes, and that will take Mayes away from driving the ball to her.
But got to work it around and look for the perimeter.
Good move by Coach White.
It's going to make Gable and all his guys take a lot of time turnover there.
This should be an easy one.
Fulton is going to take it up, get it up, up there.
Well, we got Scotland a little too fascinated, gave it a little a little too late to the player.
He might have been able to put it on the floor once and take it to the rack, but got him for the travel.
Well, right now the Wolverines are six, five, six, nine and six eight along the back line.
Well, on the front line as well, because they've got Morris out there at front at six five and long arms that is worthy of a division one team college basketball up no good Gable try to get something going but not today and we go back the other way Mayes with the recover the turnover and a foul strong was hit pretty hard there they have provoked a little too anxious surveys will have possession 2612 second quarter action just under a couple until halftime.
I believe Mayes has only been to the free throw line the one time I'm not mistaken, Stu, when Collin Cook got fouled on the dunk attempt, I don't know, maybe they had one more day.
I think they did.
But Miller Grove is playing a really good defensive game.
They're not fouling and they're just making it almost impossible to get a good look.
And they got that zone attack active in front and the big guys underneath.
And as Herb mentioned, they've got some length in the front of that zone.
Mayes taking the time way outside, knocks it down and strong with a big three pointer.
Mayes needed that one.
They're hanging in there down 11.
So we're going to have to take up a little bit of scoring slack.
Wolverines walking around, looking inside.
Mayes continues the zone Defense where he is again up and in and Fulton is on fire.
Might be somebody you'd like to key on right there.
I would play off a little to his side, just about a minute to go.
I love it when you mention the guy before the game and then he does.
But it doesn't happen often.
You know, he has got the shooter's touch, There's no doubt about it.
Mayes trying to get you up.
Good call.
Two out of bounds.
And Williams did step out.
Boy, it's great when a coach got a guy like that that can come off the bench and give him instant offense, you know, 50 seconds to go if you go for one shot or do you try to slow down?
Miller drove that lead.
They're going to go down and get the first good shot.
I would imagine, though, Coach White put up one finger, maybe they are going for one.
So we'll cut you down.
40 seconds to go In this first half of action.
Miller Grove, that big saw defending champ Timmy in control most of the way, looking underneath the young guy.
And there's a block Nicely done Cook got all of that one we did Baze not slowing it down Nice transition and it's Kirk on the other end Campbell with a nice no look pass and they needed that and they're going to need all of that they can get in the second half Wolverines will shoot and go for just one shutting it down with a better get a good look now Clark County down up in a hard foul if they got that on Cook I know that's true and Marshall down and trying to shake this one off Thomas Marshall took to the hole hard and sort of got taken out high Yeah that was a good clean foul nothing dirty about that When Cook went up trying to block the shot.
Plenty of action coming your way tonight.
Tomorrow, championship basketball.
Dude, you deserve it.
Hope you stay with us and join us for all of it.
As the first one is off.
We'll be interested to see what Coach Mack says when he comes back at the at the halftime.
Because to about the defense over the offensive end because they've got to do some things on each end to get back in this ballgame Marshall will try with the second one and is good so less than three to go full court pressure Macy's going to have to take a prior long three quarter shot long shot Oh that it is no good.
So it has been an up and down the first half Miller Grove with that strip underneath so big and so long has a lead of 30 to 17 over this maze team.
Let's see what's cooking with Gerald Eric.
Gerald I'm here with Coach White.
Your team has really played a good defensive half.
What have you exactly have you been doing to hold them down?
Just trying to contain a guard.
The guards are so good.
Just trying to contain them and make them have to make plays from position that they're not used to and it's been working pretty much miss, along with a lot of basketball to go great team, great coach.
So we just trying to hold it down for another 16 minutes.
All right.
Well, good luck in the second half.
Back over to you.
Is due to the risk.
So at the half it is Miss 3017.
We're coming back with much, much more right here on TV.

Thanks for watching the basketball action here on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
We are going to have the second half of the game coming up in just a bit.
I am John Nelson, the host of Prep Sports Plus here on GPB, alongside my tag team partner and more talented basketball star.
The elevator from dictator Herb White.
And we are going to talk about why folks need to be MVP's of Georgia Public Broadcasting.
Well, simply because if you want to see more great basketball players like Maya moore, Kwami Brown, Dwight Howard, Lewis, Williams, Thompson, Humphries and all the great teams that we've seen over the last 15 years, there's only one way to do it because if Georgia Public Broadcasting does not continue to do these games, they're going to get spread out amongst who knows who, and you're going to see games at all times of the day.
You're going to see maybe tape delay games.
It's like it was 15 years ago.
So Georgia high school sports deserves more.
They deserve what we're doing for them.
And the only way we're going to keep doing that is with these guys help, John.
And that's the way to do it.
You know, you talk about basic membership and you talk about all the different levels that you can be an MVP for Gp-B and here's how you do it.
Basic membership, 25 and $35.
And you can do that by checking that number right there at the bottom of your screen and doing it on our secure server at GPB Dawg $35 level basic.
It's a one time thing if you're a student, a senior, a member of the military, it's $25.
But we also have some thank you's associated with the basketball championships that you're seeing right now here on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
At the $35 level, there's your foldable stadium cushion for your foldable sport of choice.
Doesn't have to be just football.
It can be whatever sports you want.
You can go ahead and take it with you indoors or outdoors has a GPB logo.
You get to show your support for GPB out in the open 12 months out of the year, the $35 level next step up.
You can do this one on installments at your GPB logo.
Roll up blanket once again, show your support and stay warm 12 months out of the year that you can do on installment $6.25.
You can't come up with a greater impact by being an MVP for Georgia Public Broadcasting at the $75 level.
And how do you do that right now?
Once again, number bottom of the screen website, GB dot org, a few quick clicks.
As we like to say, you're in business, you can do it on your AT&T mobile phone at GPB.
If you are part of the team here at Georgia Public Broadcasting.
First off, we want to thank you.
If you haven't made that effort to be a part of the team here at GPB, now is your chance to do it.
Continue to show your support for the only statewide voice that Georgia Public Broadcasting has and you got to do it.
This is the time to do it.
Herb, Right here.
GPB You know, you may have guessed this.
I do probably my best work on the other side of the camera.
Jon That's probably evident because, you know, my job is to raise corporate dollars for Georgia Public Broadcasting for our programing and let's face it, we have some great corporate partners that work with us on our high school sports.
And I don't need to tell everybody who they are.
They'll be able to see them during the games, but only between the games and between the quarters because we do not interrupt our programing for commercials.
So thank our public support, our corporate supporters when you get the chance.
These guys don't even run the hard commercials like they'd be able to run on commercial or cable television.
They run spots talking about their support for their communities, and that's why they're involved in this.
They're involved to help these because they have kids, they have families, they have people involved in these games just like you do.
So if you're sitting there in your living room or in your den and you're enjoying these games on Georgia Public Broadcasting, there's only one way to say thank you for us for having these games available to you, and that's by going to your phone.
Becoming a member of Georgia Public Broadcasting.
Use a credit card.
Don't forget 24 seven you can go to WW w GPB Dawg and become a member of Georgia Public Broadcasting 24 seven and we urge you to do that.
There's no more important factor in this equation than you out there.
So realize that it's time to do it.
John All right, one more time.
Let's go through the thank you very, very quickly.
$35 level.
Once again, this is a one time investment in Georgia Public Broadcasting.
It's the football stadium question with your GPB logo.
Next step up the ladder at the $75 level over $6 a month on average that you roll up blanket for your investment in Georgia Public broadcasting.
Then the combos $125 level logo, thermos stadium cushion, roll up blanket.
Then the his and hers are years and years at the one $75 level two logo thermoses.
The two foldable stadium cushions in the blanket.
John You see a lot of spin in politics and television, but this is not one of the places.
This is the truth.
I don't know how you do this.

Miller Grove, 30 May 17.
Miller Grove was doing most of their damage above the rim and on the fast break the alley oop to Morris He goes in for the dunk likes it so much said we'll do it again this time on the break Those were the very first two plays of the game and it gave you kind of an idea but here comes Mays and there being a man like that goes Coach Mack right now comes up so strong keeps it inside again remember averaging over 24 points.
The gun goes inside, goes outside.
He knows how to do it.
And he has to keep this base team in control order for them to have a shot.
I think Gerald's got to coach for us in a moment, but I'm going to do a couple of quick stats.
We've got the shooting percentages, 33% for Mays.
We said they had to get good shots.
They haven't been able to do that.
They're only 16% on three point shots and 55% for Miller Grove from the floor and four for five mg on the threes and.
Those were all by Fulton.
Let's go to see what the coach has to say.
Coach Mac Miller Grove really played a good defensive game.
What offensive adjustments are you going to make in the second half?
What we got to do is we got to get on a read our cuz we knew 13 was an excellent shooter, one that bears shooting and we were leaving him.
So we got to do a better job of executing our offense, not getting it done.
We just turned around now and we are not executing our offense as well as defensive transition.
We're not getting back, but we just got to know what, Oh, shoot the ball second half, we got to look in the second half.
Back over to you, Steve.
Well, that number 13 is Darius Fulton and Herb, you called it exactly right.
He's got nine points.
They're all on threes.
Yeah.
And he's on a roll from the last ballgame and carried right into this win.
And one other stat that jumped out of course, Miller Grove, 16 rebounds and only nine for Mays.
And they got their work cut out for them.
But they're a good ball club to see if they can get back in this thing and a comeback ball club as the Wolverines have control to start this second half up inside.
Boy, you don't want to see a second half start like that.
Easy, Easy.
Who?
Henry Brooks worms his way to the rack for two.
Only a junior six eight gets inside.
All these young guys grow a couple three inches They're going to be some you're going to have six, ten, six, 11 seven foot on the front line for Miller Grove in a couple of years.
This is a team that will be back.
You have the feeling Mays now in a man to man.
And that is the first time that we've seen that all this afternoon Up to the hoop, no good Rebound and control by Mays he looks down and turnover again possessions so important when you have it for Mays Well I like this job back Coach Mack going man to man the zone wasn't getting it done.
He's going to try something else.
He got to try everything in your quiver when you're down.
But Miller Grove so far handling it pretty well.
Brooks are two quick routes to start the second half and all of a sudden they've doubled up 30 for 17.
All this Mays team wants it and there's a lot of times of promos again reaching in on the dribble for cable and swatting the ball away.
Good timeout because Herb, this is a time where if you let your team panic a little, you could be in deep trouble.
But if you don't, then you're okay.
You're still within reach.
Let me mention.
Have you ever dreamed of inventing the next big thing?

All right.
I've admitted a bunch of excuses in my day for things.

There you see the game coming up immediately following this one.
But if you go to our Web site debut, WW dot dot org slash ghost deal with two hosts you'll see that four minute trailer narrated by Andrew Young.
It's going to be a great thing.
Stay the number of African-American athletes back in the forties, fifties and sixties that were great players and the coaches and teams.
We're going to let folks know about them.
They were ignored back in those days, and it's hard to believe people think that that didn't happen, but it did.
And GPB is going to let them know about it, look forward to it strong to the whole probably.
Let's see, it was in the motion of shooting or no referee say no, that's the coach.
Mack says yes.
And the referees, as usual, went out.
6.6 3417 Mays down by 17 to get the ball inside and just get it into strong razzle dazzle.
Beautiful pass, beautiful ball.
Donte Williams Way up high on the block and that is the length of this bill.
AdRoll team Hayes will try it again, gobble the man who does most of the scoring for this men's team.
Wolverines in a man to man song to the hoop No good Rebound up and nicely done Cook No Yes it was Coleman Cook Nice job there.
COOK And now that's more of a fast paced up and down game, which I'm not sure Favors lays up in it.
And that's why you get easy shots.
Donta Williams with the follow and it's just 169 guys throwing it to another.
They're across the basket.
A lot of action it has picked up dunk no good Wolverines control and all of a sudden the pace of this game has quickness to the hoop up and no good big guy up and good and there you see it That's what's going to be happening.
If you get into a cut a volleyball game, Brandon Morris will put it in and this team is just too, too big and too strong to do that with her.
Boy, you said it earlier.
All Mila got to do is throw it up on the backboard and they've got all those big guys following that thing to the rack and putting it in if they miss.
And there's just nothing easy for Maze out here.
Cook again with up for the dunk and contested and couldn't get it down so well Mila Grove very impressive right now we saw a shot of coach right and he's pretty comic he knows if you want to get in a running game and go up and down with his guys, he might be in for a long afternoon.
Well, you look a lot more comfortable when you got to score double.
That's true, Mase.
Going against now a wolverine magic and defense.
Wow, That huge crowd here.
Good defense by the Wolverines.
That's the man that does most of the scoring.
He'll be looking for a shot.
He does.
He pulls the trigger, falls back no good at the foul trouble, but gets fouled.
And he will go.
Let's see if he will go three shooting three.
He's outside the arc smooth strong quickly brought his shots Cable he's got a game well and he's going to have to have more of a game and you know people are going to take these grown up bad shots but Mase can't get anything else.
He's going to have to carry the layup and they're going to have to throw some threes in to get back in this ballgame.
Unusual Miss Cable, an 86% foul shooter on the year misses the first base.
Looks like they're ready to go into some full court pressure.
3819 with just under five left in this quarter boys high school basketball championship 33 as always, terrific crowds for Gwinnett County, a hotbed of basketball.
No bounce.
You got fans coming from the county and we got the cap county team in an Atlanta stadium in May.
So you're going to have some good crowds.
So Cabell makes two out of 338, 21, midway through the third quarter of this high school championship ballgame.

Here's a hint General Sherman played a role.
Watch Augusta's master plan a B Original Easter Sunday, April 4th at 8 p.m. GPB Television.
We're sharing some 3821 as we are midway through the third quarter of this quarter.
Boys Championship.
As we said before, the foul shot maze trying to change things up.
Herb So they'll go with some hope for pressure and that might end up at the other end Sometimes with these big guys with a dunk, let's see what happens up good and instead a three point play.
Nicely done.
And it is that same man who was doing it from the outside, now doing it from the inside.
It's still a three point play for four, just doing it the old fashioned way.
Darius Fulton Yeah, every one of his points has come on a three point shot and now he's about to complete it.
I bet you he's too good a shooter to miss.
Well, everything Coach Mack has tried is blown up so far, and that's just the way it goes.
When you come up against a team like Miller Grove is playing well, defending with a lot of confidence.
Well inside outside Game has been working for those those three pointers that they ever were killer.
And let's see how the rest of the game goes.
But this man's going to try to take it over.
Nothing going way outside.
Thank her.
So any way you can get it as Clemmons hits the big shot three pointer, Mayes putting on as much pressure as they can.
Wolverines remain in control and there it is.
Top Bonham Great moment.
There's that man again.
It for once Fulton doesn't hit from the outside.
But I tell you and we've mentioned this earlier, Miller Grove just not only they're big guys a lot of teams have big guys that are defensive players and you know, and you can get down on the other end and work some on but either these guys do it at both ends of the floor.
They're all accomplished on the defensive end as well as the offensive end.
And that just makes it doubly tough.
We'll watch next time they have it on offense.
That ball doesn't hit the floor.
It's all passes and triangles maze trying to find some answers.
Wolverines and the man to man 4123 steal by Fulton He's going to look puts it up no good could have been a foul but no as strong and one try to combine the other way to go Baze with a three pointer and it will be a jump ball possession arrow going May's way and the tempo this second half has really picked up well Coach Mack again trying everything he can do to change the way this games being played the bell outside no good rebound Wolverines control and they've got numbers Fulton up no good rebound blocked and Mayes the ball going back and forth Fulton looking for the three pointer he thought better Great effort by Cook Gary intimidated the first shot made a miss and then blocked the second shot.
Great job by the young man and he's huffing and puffing and another block and Collin Cook all alone in there at six foot six his tallest man Mayes has on the floor.
And he's still giving up 3 to 3 inches to several of the players from Miller Grove there you're taking a look at Collin Cook, only a junior.
So he'll have a lot more high school basketball to be played and perhaps played again in this arena.
He's blowing hard in there, but Coach Mack can ill afford to take him, take him out of the game.
Well, he is going to take him out.
He sees that and give him a quick blow.
He won't be out for long.
Stu, Wolverines inbound going against this tight maze man And at Portland Control nice steal by strong He's going to go all the way and he'll shoot two You're right Good aggressive play.
You need to get something out of it.
He took it all the way and was able to draw the foul.
Well, that's where this based team's going to.
Here you go with it.
He's going to get some points now.
Turnovers, hopefully, for Coach Mack Squad Strong, another one of these juniors on this Baze team that we'll be back for another year.
Who doesn't get the role 65% foul shooter on the year one for seven Hayes needs to put every shot in they can get a couple of them off the iron just under three third quarter boys quite a championship as May's full court pressure against the Wolverines and they haven't had too many problems until their first time.
We've seen them out of control all evening.
So May shooting only 32%.
Miller Grove, you would think, be a little over 50 with all those inside shots, but still 48.
Not too bad.
Well, that 32% is just directly attributable to the great defense Miller growth playing.
There you see it.
Nice move get open are to get to the rack by Cabell but he can't finish because it's blocked didn't see who got it little blocked out myself it might have been Morris Cross he got fouled but it will not be a shooting foul so maize to trigger it in 4123 Miller grove in control most of this game from the start after two dunks little risky pass there but Mayes controls Boy you got to get the belt credit he's going to take it to the hole and either get hacked or blocked or get fouled.
Well it's a 24 point game score.
He didn't do it all from outside.
He's got all kinds of moves.
He can put it on the floor here.
You see him taking it to the surface and you could tell this is a strong player.
I mean, he finishes, he averages almost five rebounds a game for a guy that's only six feet tall.
Oh, Gabel is senior, but Coach Mack the second one up and good.
So with about 2 minutes left in this third quarter fans amazed route romance and come on there's still time to go and they're in a2221 trap trying to create something look out for some dunks on this There's Fulton with the long jumper again and he is on fire another three pointer Hard to believe he comes off the bench, but it's great to have a guy like that can come in and give you the boost.
Well, interesting story about head coach told me that he requested to go to the bench, said some of the younger players should get a shot, maybe some more confidence.
Coach said, all right, if you want to go to the bench, go to the bench and the rest is history.
They haven't lost since he's come off the bench.
Oh, that's great move by the young man.
And he's probably getting as many minutes as he was getting when he was starting.
And this is going to as long as he's shooting the ball like that jump ball arrow pointing Milagros way back in the game Big Tony Parker for the Wolverines 212 full court press now and obvious waiting for a lot of coaches and I can't think of much that coach Matt can pull off to get back in this one down 19.
I'm just waiting for one of these big guys to get open on this presser.
We see a slab double teaming.
And you're right, Herb, he has tried everything.
Well, several thousand Miller Grove fans in here that are waiting.
And welcome to the hall.
There he goes again.
And he is a one man show as Gabel goes to the hoop and he will shoot a couple comes up a little hard.
He's taken some punishment in there, but he's got a smile on his face.
Got a little hacked on the air, just little, little talking going on.
Henry Brooks points out towards the scoreboard net.
That always manages to make you be quiet.
You don't have much a retort for that Wolverines getting ready to send curry Matt in is again a George a deep and develop this is on the first pass usually 4425 just about a minute left in the third quarter double ten points just on three of 11 shooting and normally a much better free throw shooter to solve that defense showing up.
Yeah he's he has and he's had one look where he didn't have somebody completely all over him and you're right he's he's off because normally like you say a great free throw shooter and he's probably one for his last four from the lions Wolverines getting double teamed it good pressure by Mayes but do they come up with the ball let's see got to be a personal I believe that one's going to be called on cover two guys going for the ball.
Well they did get Palmer for the foul so minutes ago in the third quarter Wolverines up by 19 and not slowing down Mayes looks like they're matching up gave a zone look for a second heard in the match up Good call inside big and strong and you just can't stop Parker when he's on a roll he'll go to the line He'll see too.
Well, Coach Mac's been on the other end of games like this.
He had supremely talented teams back in 2000 for 2005, having to do a lot more coaching right now.
Parker As we mentioned, only a sophomore, averaging 11 points a game and almost ten boards.
And we don't want to give the impression that Bill Hargrove is just doing it, just the sheer size.
This is a well coached basketball team, as you said, Stu.
They really move that ball.
Nobody has it for long.
They find the open man.
They're big guys.
Move.
Get open.
It's it's a pleasure to watch a team that can play like that.
You bring up a good point.
I mean, up to this point, the big difference have been those 14 three pointers that opened everything up.
This is on the second and here comes Mary's Beautiful move by Capella All hope and nicely done.
That is a highlight but you can see what he could do if he's playing against an average sized team where he's not going up against three guys, six nine in the paint all night.
It does have some moves to the rack.
Wolverines will wait for that final shot.
Got it down with just about 20 to go in this third quarter, May is applying the pressure constant with the ball controlling it looks inside Aaron pass makes well they get a little shot bodies all over the floor a time out and they pointed to the maize bench I thought Baylor gross player timeout here's the last shot back to Bill nicely done Nice body control strong take it And Campbell was having a running conversation with some of the players on the Mavs bench with the Milagro players but a lot of these guys play a new ball together all year and their friends, let me remind you, if you're old enough to remember the doo wop hair of American pop music or just want to spend a little time visiting the 1950, join us here at GPB Monday at 730 for a rock rhythm doo wop part of our special membership programing.

But do It's an herb was a teenager used to doo wop on the court.
Doo wop up court.
Wolverines with just 4 seconds will try to get in a good shot.
Boy wide open three point shot.
How do you leave Fulton alone?
Well, that's a sign of a well coached team.
When you come out of a timeout, you get an open look.
That's just a thing of beauty right there if you appreciate good basketball.
So at the end of three, it's 47, 27 quarter boys.
Final quarter coming up after this.

This is Georgia Public Broadcasting, your PBS station, serving all of Georgia after three Miller Grow 47 May 27.
Welcome back to the What Art Center.
What number stand out here?
Well, they're vertically virtually the same as they were at halftime.
It's 55% shooting from Miller growth in the field.
Look at this, 80% from three point distance.
And you know who's responsible for that, Mr. Fulton?
And same shooting percentages basically for Mays, 33, from the field, 16%, one for six from three point distance.
And Miller Grove putting on a clinic right now.
Yeah, that's a that's a tough combination when you got those big kids underneath and you're hitting from the outside.
So here we go.
Final quarter of the quarter boys Championship.
Mays hoping for a miracle.
And that's the guy that could provide it if it's anybody on his Mays team Provos with a block.
He's just been all over cable all night long, so I had to force a little to the hole.
And Coffey will go to the line.
Got bailed out there, had to throw up a prayer but somebody from Miller Grove couldn't see who it was.
Bumped him and knocked him over.
It was believe it was Randle that Brandon Morris got him.
Well, talk to Coach Mack before the game and he was talking about the rebounding.
You could see the free throws not only look at that 2424, 6 to 13 tonight.
So that'll tell you what a huge difference that is making this ballgame.
And there we go.
You look at those turnovers, virtually even eight for Mays and ten for Miller Grove.
Blocked shots, really not much different, three from Mays, five for Miller Grove.
But Miller Grove certainly is intimidated.
A lot of shots that they didn't block and rebounding margin is a big difference as well.
28 Miller Grove and 16 for May well have Mays made some of those stars out too.
We would have had a tighter game.
Right now it's 20 point game at up and a little rough foul by cable and Wolverines will be shooting too so poor to the line little bit of a frustration foul there by Cabell for the 4727 Wolverines and control almost From the start, Mays has tried to make a couple of runs.
Herb And those three pointers have really hurt.
Well, it's really difficult for a guy like Cabell is, you know, he averages 24 a game.
He carries the load for this team.
He knows he's got to score.
And to come up against a team like Miller Grove, that just makes it so difficult for you to get easy shots.
And he he's got to do it.
And it's just a a tough night and very frustrating experience for the young man.
What a two.
With Mays on the attack, it's gone to the hoop.
Oh, good.
Rebound up and Leslie will be shooting a couple of thoughts at play but was cooked The guy said oh, you're right.
It was Leslie.
But every shot you see three or four hands going up above the basket, it just you have to throw another foot of arc on every shot that you put up against this.
Miller Grove Squad General Leslie, only a sophomore, six three, reminds me of the story way, way back when the team was going to play against Ralph Sampson.
And they had guys whole brooms.
Yeah, to simulate Ralph's height.
Maybe it's a way to go against some fans may not remember how tall Ralph was.
Seven foot five, seven foot four, seven foot four, I believe.
Ralph lives in Atlanta.
Yes, he does.
I've heard him on some of the sports talk shows.
We got a timeout break in the action right now.
Well, we've got plenty of more action coming for you here on GPB Norcross, Lady Devils.
Marv Higgins, We're down 31 and oh and trying to complete a perfect season and that'll come up your way right after this seven and then a game that we'll get to do tonight Westlake against Milton cannot wait Yeah, that's going to be a great one And Milton coming out of that really tough region and let's see what we got to come on up to mark the class a the Hispanic girls go against Wesleyan.
That's at 11 a.m. We hope you join us.
And then the Quarry boys with Hill Academy at Wesleyan, that's at 1245, 22 hours this weekend of live basketball.
And Buford will be going against Lawndale.
Yeah, that's another team trying to complete a perfect season, then Greater L.A. Christian again, we'll have 32 and one.
The only loss coming to a team in Tennessee.
They'll be going against Thomasville.
So what a lot of we have coach Eddie Martin, coach in that greater Atlanta Christian team.
We've seen him with his Norcross boys in here to win a state championship.
So everywhere he goes, he gets the job done.
More than a coincidence.
That's the alley oop way up.
And we've been waiting for hours.
Brandon Morris for his third slam.
Well, this is where our producers get a little nervous, because when we get these run away games, that's when we start telling our stories.
Well, Kendall, let's try to keep it close with the three.
But this is what we were talking about.
Some dunks might be coming up because that press leaves something open at the other end.
Let's see the alley oop to Morris Thomas Marshall with a nice floating pass.
Here you go again.
Morris almost caught that basket and the ball inside the cylinder, which is supposed to be illegal, but they never call it every Brooke's just a junior.
Another big kid, straight to the line out of double figures this season of ten points and almost eight rebounds a game.
And I think we're going to see this Wolverines team for the next couple of years.
Yeah, you're going to see a very similar team in Milton in that five eight championship game.
Very talented, tall team, got a lot of assets and I'm looking forward to that.
But Westlake's got a good ball club as well and they've got some size to combat them.
Wolverines pressing all over the court, even in the back court, get the turnover 630 to go 5131 as we go down this quarter championship game coach Mack standing for lonely with his hand on his hip over there.
Not a whole lot you can say at this point.
Herb, you brought it out tonight.
He's tried it all.
He's tried everything.
The zone, the matchup zone, the man.
And that is just wasn't to be a full court pressure.
That's you know, that's what a coach is supposed to do.
And sometimes no matter what you try, you're just up against it.
Three shots and wolverines couldn't put it in.
So the bell will try the other way and Wolverines back on defense and controlling the boards completely maze.
Imagine that to the hoop and no good up and a three pointer and Dante Williams will shoot one Well we've got at the third quarter break we had Miller Grove for 11 offensive rebounds seem like they've had 20 but they just got two more in the last two possessions So they've had 13 offensive rebounds we know of and that's way too many schools know.
I tell you, we have six nine division one prospect no doubt about it talked to the coach doesn't made a decision yet Herb as to where he wants to take it at the next level but you know wherever he goes that's going to be one happy college coach.
Yeah a lot of schools in the SCC interest in Duncan he's a guy that can play on both ends of the floor as well so and he's probably going to put some muscle on that frame when he gets into college.
The Wolverines now look like they're backing into that zone.
We're playing it in a nice little heard bobble head.
And you said he reminds you a little of walk.
FRAZIER That was a walk.
FRAZIER Like move Maze tried to press wolverines breaking it and that's what they're looking for.
Those big dunks at the other end is Donte Williams will go back and shoot two more.
So Let's hear in the day.
Herb It used to be that New York City's in the Washington, D.C. and the Philadelphia's the place that had all the basketball talent, at least in our day and maybe even after our day.
But, you know, you look at the college landscape and look at the kids from Georgia that have gone on to become stars and this is a spot I don't care where you're coached, you want to get a look at the players.
So you're right about that, Stu.
It's just it's actually there were a lot of great players in Georgia over the years that have gone under the schools.
But in the last 10 to 15 years, it's just incredible the amount of players coming out of Atlanta and the surrounding area.
And every time you turn on the TV at, a college game, you're going to see some guy from Georgia, you're watching the NCAA tournament, you're going to see a lot of players from Georgia featured on a lot of different teams.
Wolverines happy to make may shoot from the outside, way outside, forcing all of this cowbell.
And the other way we go, Wolverines still want to run still alley oop still dunking on Dottie Williams with another throwdown And if you don't force a shot against Miller Grove, you're not going to get a shots there.
You got to force them because somebody going to be in your face every time and maybe just a little frustrated.
Wolverines on the attack again, up and down and up and there he goes again.
Got to Williams above the rim and that is three dunks in the last about 2 minutes.
Yeah, well you called it Stu Once you start scrambling around trying to get steals here, you see it on the replay, you're going to be out of position.
Now, this is the dunk a rama for these Wolverines.
Well, all Coach Matt can do now is fall back.
If you want to stop all these dunks, you fall back in the zone and concede the ballgame.
And that's pretty much all they can do at this point.
They're down 25 with 420 something to go and it will be a deceiving score because for most of this game, for three quarters, Baze had a shot.
Now not going to say they were going to turn around, but they were within reach.
And you're going to look and you're going to see a deceiving score.
Double to the line, start everything he could do tonight.
Well, Miller Grove's going to win back to back titles and I'd say they're going to be the odds on favorite coming back again next year with most of this team returning seven sophomores.
All of this Miller Grove to Gary Rose 6965646863.
That's just the size returning and all.
Yeah they've got a couple sophomores on this team as well Wolverines content to back it up and look inside there's a turnover right to the ball and a little bit of contact 4 minutes to go 5833 Miller Grove control and this was just a little pushing, a little shoving.
And Eloise Cabell will go to the foul line.
He what a career.
He's had 24 points a game this year.
And again, we talk about the next level.
He's going to make someone very happy.
Yeah, he's a guy that can come out and run your point for you.
He can also score.
Just look at Tony Parker, the sophomore.
He's had a solid game tonight.
Again, six, nine, coming back for another couple of seasons.
Oh my goodness.
What he will be in a year or two and probably six, 11 or seven footer in the second 30, second time out.
There's nothing to be embarrassed about.
He's sort of coach back and forth.
He wanted to relax the kids.
Oh, you see him right there and still it.
And that's what a good coach does.
He's got guys over there.
They're going to come back and play for him.
He wants them to know what's going on.
Every great moment.

We're sharing Nicely done.
I find myself getting more and more to those programs and all the kids to watch right away.
You basketball has gotten to be a big thing and it's really big in Georgia.
Some of the great elite teams playing every year and these these kids get to play year round.
Updating you on a couple of scores already.
Girls in four and you see Southwest DeKalb with a big win, 6545.
So the conference earlier today and some great action.
So kids, I will read titles in the last five years the Southwest accounts third Earl's team, they got a football, they got a basketball, they got it all going.
Speaking of having it all going, Miller Grove has that.
That was Marshall shooting to miss the first or of a one on one.
Yeah, I've talked about this before too.
I think it was back in the mid seventies.
They had at the end of the playoffs, at the end of the championships they would have the four champions play from a triple AA quality.
Back then it was four and five eight.
Now it'd be interesting to see this Miller Grove team go up against Milton.
I know there's a lot of folks who would like see that.
I like that idea.
How long ago was that?
It was in the mid seventies.
I think they had it for three or four years.
And you know, it's amazing that even the smaller schools sometimes can compete with the big guys if they've been together a while.
Wolverines try to run off some blocks and now there's hardly any high school.
I think there's one state now that has, you know, open state championship.
Tony Parker trying to show a little range here, took a 15 footer, was off the front, Wolverines just pulling it out and running down clock to a championship of the quarter.
I'll tell you, that guy Fulton will pull it back.
Why not?
He's been hit from everywhere all night.
Well, even when he misses it, goes down and in and comes out.
Stopwatch out again.
Herb White, our pleasure to be bringing you all the action live here from the garden, etc.. Much, much more to come this evening as well.
Well, that's a little better shot for Mr. Parker, who is only about a foot away from the basket.
Puts it in there.
You being a former jump shooter, you know how it feels for Fulton out here tonight when the when you when you're on a roll like that, that basket looks like it's as big as a garbage can.
Yeah, Keep pulling the triggers.
My attitude.
Just keep pulling the trigger.
Wolverines in zone defense just laying back and waiting for the turnovers.
And it's a little frustrating at this point.
They had done everything they could, different combinations.
But this is a a miller girl team.
Remember these names of Morris and Ruffin and certainly Parker, the big guy inside.
They will be back.
Oh, inside Jam for Donte Williams.
And that was a bit of a tactical I think that was got a poor hanging on the rim I guess made a little too much of a show.
But wait a minute.
I don't know if they might be tough calling against Mase.
Let's see.
Let's see what Anderson shoves.
Yeah, and frustration there.
I think it's a good idea.
It wasn't blatant, but it's getting a little frustrating.
Not a bad call by the refs to.
Keep things under control and not a cheap shot.
Nothing like that.
He just was frustrated and pushed off.
And you can understand Maisie's frustration.
I was about to bring it up at the other end is is a strong took the ball to the basket just a moment ago it's just a capsule of what's been happening all night.
He threw it up there before he was even ready to shoot just because he knew that three Miller Grove guys were going to be up there the swatted away and he he missed the whole rim And again just no way to get a good shot against this Miller Grove teams Haiti The best news for Milagros opponents next year is that Darius Bloom is a senior.
So there's one guy that isn't coming back down to Williams.
Dante Williams will be gone too, but boy, they sure got plenty of those in the chamber.
We were talking about it earlier and you mentioned the to curb these kids play in the you games they they go overseas and there's there's a story of the game inside points of the height I mean 34 to 16 you're doubling up on the team you're going to beat them.
Yeah and probably half of those came on dunks follow ups, maybe more than that, I thought.
I think the percentage and there's a turnover going the other way up and no good for us.
I did drop got the rodeo what 48% I believe it was at halftime Herb that's got to be well over 50 for this team up that's and good so just a coronation right now with 221 left in this quarter championship game and Dante Williams who shoots five six dunks well deserved nice career sitting down with a terrific final performance Cuomo set the line to shoot one and what has become a 30 point game.
Well you always feel bad to see a team get blown out in state championship game and they just played some great basketball this year.
They just ran up against a hot shooting team and a team that's playing probably at the best of their ability right now.
And that's what you try to do.
You try to peak in the playoffs and in the championship and certainly Miller Grove has been able to do that rebound by Fulton and Wolverines will be content to run off some clock and get some youngsters in the game that you said they played in the high school championship.
Why not?
Well, as a former coach, I always sit around and a lot of times I can think of things I can say, Yeah, I wonder why I didn't try this.
We didn't try that.
You know, I do it all the time and second guess people, that's my job.
But you can't second guess Coach McKnight because as we talked about, he tried everything he could and just nothing would work against his Milagros squad this evening.
This may seem to lose cable, but they've got a ton of talent returning as well, so don't be surprised.
Who knows if this could be another matchup in the finals.
A lot of underclassmen just under a minute 30 before the coronation for a very impressive Miller Grove Wolverines seven for Herb.
You betcha.
I'd love to see.
I don't think there's any way they'd reinstate.
Yeah, but I'd love to see Cody go get five.
I mean, that would be terrific.
Well, I don't know that they could, you know, they could play next year.
It'd be a smart move by the coaches just to schedule each other, to have that kind of a matchup.
You know, they could probably play it in here and pack this place to do that.
122 As we count down for Miller Grove, guys trying to get the name of the paper they want to get, they want to get a bucket.
Why not win that box score?
Schroder My kids.
Yes, sir.
15 or 20 years.
I'm going to show it.
I scored two points in their photos.
Bolton takes the There is Fulton and he was really one of the big keys for Miller Grove this evening as he was in the semifinals, too.
He just came in and lit it up.
And when they weren't scoring inside, he was dropping in the threes that were just breaking the back of this man's team tonight.
Well, what do you score 18 points on six for nine shooting?
Pretty efficient very efficient under a minute to go and the Wolverines still attacking and laying how does this compare to some of the four teams you've seen in the past as far as champions are?
Well, they're right there with some of the best teams I've seen students work out it.
Yeah, they've got everything on this ballclub that you could ask for.
They're not just big.
As we mentioned, these guys know how to play the game.
They've got a couple of quick guards.
They get at the defensive elite.
I'm very, very impressed with this squad that's going a little bonkers.
And why not?
What a culmination to a terrific season.
Hats off to Coach Mack and his and his Raiders.
Terrific season for me.
Hats off to Coach White, who has just done a terrific job with a very talented team.
And there you have it.
And there you have it.
